Last Night's THE AMAZING RACE
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILER ALERT *********[/move]
Not the surprise ending I was expecting, but close enough. I was expecting some sort of emotional drama from the Weavers that would somehow get them not eliminated but disqualified. Hopefully, the extension of this leg of the race will allow the Linz Family to pull ahead and the Weaver brood to lose.
What really ticks me off are these "production problems" that have been plaguing this race that effected teams who had been in the lead and put them far behind. It just seems so unfair that a team could potentially be eliminated for a problem with what should have been a reliable element. (Though I probably wouldn't be so ired if it had happened to the Weavers instead of the Linzes.)
I woke up at 3am with a terrible sore throat. This is not good, since I was supposed to go see my baby niece tonight. Not sure how contagious what I have is (perhaps I can just be in the room with her without touching her). Anyhow I have a doctor's appointment at 3pm, so i will ask him. It's weird but I was feeling fine last night. IT just really hit me all of a sudden without warning. But it is so sore. And even cepacol did not sooth it at all (which surprised me).
Anybody have any remedies? So far i tried hot drinks (which felt good). And I also took a cold/sinus motrin in the middle of the night (which also helped).
And on LOST, we get more backstory on Kate tonight. Can't wait for it and, of course, VERONICA MARS.
Jen, I'll e-mail my sister--she has some bizarre honey and vinegar concoction that she takes that she swears is the best sore throat cure-all. I'll post it when she replies.

I woke up at 3am with a terrible sore throat....Is there, or has there ever been, such a thing as a wonderful sore throat?
FOr those with HDTV and an interest in the old RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER cartoon that's been playing for decades,For once and for all, we'll learn that Rudolph's red nose was really a severe case of acne.
CBS has upconverted the one hour show to high definition, and its premiere is tonight. I haven't seen this in many, many years, but I will watch it just to see what changes the high definition have effected.
Is there, or has there ever been, such a thing as a wonderful sore throat?
1. Don't visit with your niece tonight. She won't be any the wiser. What is plaguing you may be airborne and not reliant on touch.
2.The best home remedy I know of for extreme sore throats is frequent (every hour or two, as needed) gargling with very warm salt water (i.e., use salt you have in your kitchen and dissolve it into really warm water...not scaldingly hot because you'll be gargling it).
3. Don't go anywhere. Rest, take plenty of liquids (swallowing them...NOT the salt water), take aspirin as directed on the product's instructions.
~~Healthy thraat vibes~~~ for Jennifer
and I agree with Ron... Don't go see the baby... congestion and a sore throat can be a very bad thing for babies who will cry and makes their throat sorer and cannot blow their tiny wee nosies themselves .
Tell them to order out for dinner...
Or, prepare dinner, take it to them and then return home. She doesn't need to be around the father, either.
Or, prepare dinner, take it to them and then return home. She doesn't need to be around the father, either.
If she prepares dinner she risks getting her sore throat germsies in the food which her sister will eat and then she can pass those germies on to the wee one when she's feeding her, changing her etc.... and if its a very sore throat it may be strep which can be very serious for an infant.
I strongly urge you to err on the side of caution, tell them "Sorry, I won't be there" and let them send out for dinner
Well she does live with him so she can't really avoid him!
Hey! I'm QUOTED!
:D
I hope you don't mind being my signature quote.. but I thought that was a wonderful expression!!

I was just about to post the link to the Playbill article. It was lovely to see it in print.
About two months ago, the hot water in my home environment became VERY hot, like twice as hot as it had ever been. I simply adjusted the amount of cold water I was using, and all was well. This morning, the VERY hot water is tepid, bordering on VERY tepid. I do not like tepid water, hence the plumber will be here between noon and one-thirty to figure out what the HELL is going on.
I'm flattered!

No, I'm honored and flattered!

I'm glad... I hope you are waiving rights to residuals?

Hmmm....she has been a widow for six months AND YET one of the actors plays her husband. What could this possibly mean?

I know this might be a stupid question. But I wore plastic gloves when preparing the meatballs i'm making. And they still have to bake for 30 minutes later. Would my germs still be there after all that heat? All I can tell you, as the mother of a former infant, I remember spending countless nights walking the floor with a inconsolable crying baby who was sick because some well meaning relative or friend came over when they were feeling under the weather because they "didn't want to disappoint" me or "cancel at the last minute". Believe me. a sick infant is something you need to avoid. Not to mention, if there is any chance you do have strep throat or beginnings of the flu, both of which can cause very high fevers in an infant, it could land your beloved niece in the hospital and undergoing a spinal tap which is no fun either.
I will definitely see what the doc says, maybe it's not serious and maybe i'm not contagious. If he says i should not go, then i won't. But i'd rather see what's wrong before i decide.
And I was feeling totally fine last night and actually saw the baby. Although I did not hold her, I did touch her hand. :(
Plumber still isn't here. He now has twenty-five minutes. I just called the gal who booked him and she's calling him to make sure he knows that's the latest he can get here, because I must leave by two or two-fifteen at the latest. I have to go to the home environment of Mr. Lalo Schifrin, to pick up a signed musical quote from Dirty Harry for our silent auction. I may even get in on the bidding for that.I am about to air my ignorance...what is a "musical quote"?

It's usually a hand-drawn representation of a few bars of music with the notes from one of the composer's well-known tunes/compositions pencilled in...and autographed above or below.
See the sheet music illustration below...and note Vic Mizzy's own contribution at the bottom of the music.

Oy! Such an afternoon I've had. Some ass left a wad of chewed gum on the subway seat, and of course I sat on it. I've been removing gum from a chair and my pants most of the afternoon, between dealing with bouts of IRS tsuris to keep my accountant happy.
Gum Removing tips:
Ice cube.... freeze it and then it should come off easily, although you may have a wey\t spot to deal with for a bit....
Peanut butter...but then you have peanut butter to clean off yor pants!
Goo Gone....although depending on your pants it may remove some of the color....
:-X
You can win next week, DRMATTH!
Of all of the family here at HHW, the only person I know to have won ANY money in the lottery is DR JOSE!!

I see that Jennifer is lurking.
I'm wondering how she's feeling and whether she saw a doctor.
Are things well, Jen???
Eat comfort foods.
Stay warm.
Possible spoiler since I have not actually seen or read the play
Flashback sequences!!!! :D
I actually did a play one time (in dinner theater) that required me to do a flashback. Talk about a nightmare, I had to dive off stage when the lights flickered, run around behind the set tearing off my clothes and redressing in a different outfit, and magically appear at the front door without appearing to be winded. God, I hated that play!
I really need to get out of the closet more.[/size]
I thought that was a space you didn't even know about.
Re-connects are great, DRJOSE. So what is Justin doing INSTEAD of show biz?
No Freddy so far. I am no officially getting worried.
MattH.. do you know how Felicity fared in the ratings?
Hey MattH, we were just talking about this yesterday...DIMPLES, THE LITTLEST REBEL, and THE LITTLE COLONEL are coming to DVD March 21!
I have never seen DIMPLES!
I did watch RUDOLPH in the new high definition version tonight. There's only so much that can be done for this show even in high definition. It's always looked primitive to me, and the HD does it no favors, only makes its crude animation all the sharper and clearer. (That's part of its charm, I guess.)
At least I won't have to look at it again.
Oh no! Is this unusual? How is your weather? Callie, Nilla and I are sending get home safely vibes to Freddy
Ah, you gotta love RUDOLPH....it wouldn't be the same if it wasn't primitive....

Yes, that is part of it's charm! I remember waiting eagerly every season for it to air when I was a kid!
I like the Island of Misfit Toys. Even though there are some toys that seem perfectly fine.
I always wanted a Charlie in the Box!
