Title: EQUILIBRIUM
Post by: bk on May 31, 2006, 12:06:08 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes had eliquilibrium, which is more than I can say, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently looking up the word equilibrium.

Didn't Bob Dylan write a song about Quinn the Equinox (recorded by Manfred Mann).

Must admit I'm "pushing it" today!! I did consider He Quin ox but decided that would have been five times as bad.  "Ox on the run" was another Manfred Mann song.

I think I should read the notes of the day!

MMM the "Ox bow incident".  Was that about the best dressed animal at the County Fair and the wrongly awarded blue ribbon?

BK, I hope you don't have food poisoning.  I had a very light case a couple of weeks ago and, although it wasn't horrible, it wasn't pleasant. :P

Equinox was the original title of the play by Peter Shaffer, until he re-thought the subject matter and changed it to horses.

Good Morning, DR Elmore!

I had to drive into work yesterday and will have to do so again on Thursday so I won't be able to post on those days.

I hope your feeling much better BK by the time you read this.

It's so nice to see TCB posting again!   :)

Not much to report from my end as yet.  I never did get back to resize those pictures but I will attempt to do that tonight.

Ugh, this bus is COLD!  I'm very glad I have my light jacket with me.   It's pretty thin but better then nothing.

Good morning, all!  Anybody else having trouble accessing this site today?  At 6:50 am, I was told there were too many connections, I was back on by 7:06 and thrown off again around 7:10!

I'm off to Toyland till noon, then back here for a visit - sometime between 2 pm and 6 - with a cable repairman, since my computer's been misbehaving since Friday afternoon.

Since the equinox happens twice a year in March and September, I'm not thinking about it now.

At 7:25, I was thrown off the site again because of "too many connections"!  WHAT THE HELL????

Good morning, DR Danise!  If this site hasn't become the most popular site on the internet, it's maybe because there are TOO MANY CONNECTIONS!  Oy!

But I rant.  DR Danise, have a wonderful day!

I was unable to get to this place on the board for quite a while. I could see that Larry and Danise were here but I kept getting Too Many Connections. Perhaps the board is having equilibrium problems as well.

I cleared out my browser, closed down and reopened. I returned here and after a rather long time in Internet time, considering I have a high speed connection at work, I was deposited here only to find myself alone. Danise and Larry are both gone.

I will leave soon also since I have work to do.

No questions at the moment.

This is what I'll forever think of when I read or hear the word EQUINOX:

I've never seen this movie, but I did become somewhat fascinated by it solely through this poster's appearance in Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine.

I wonder if it's on DVD?

Why, yes!  Yes, it is!  It's available at Amazon  (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F6IHTA/qid=1149079496/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-5578969-8320700?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130) at $27.99 (or it will be available--it's being released on June 20.).  I had always thought this movie was a piece of schlock, but it's part of the Criterion Collection, so I guess it's artsy schlock.

I just allerpetted the cats, which consisted of rubbing them down with a damp cloth, followed by rubbing them down with a cloth dampened with allerpet product.  It's supposed to make them less allergenic, and I also thought it would be a good way of removing their dead fur before cleaning the house.

On a scale of one to ten, ten being "keep it coming" and one being "for the love of God lady, please just give us some peace" I'm guessing they would rate this process about a two.

I watched Part One of Frontline last night. It's a two-part special on AIDS. It's been 25 years since the first report of AIDS in the U.S. Part Two is on this evening. I shall try to watch. Although we've made progress we still have a long, long way to go.

I did bring us to Page 2 but it is exceedingly slow to load.

Another moderately priced restaurant has bit the dust in New York. Puelo's and Puelo's 2 are both gone. They closed, without announcement, over the Memorial Day Weekend. They are the latest casualties in the rebuilding of 45th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. Frankie and Johnnie's will probably be the next (and last) to go. Damn them, damn them all to hell (to quote a certain writer, record producer, bon vivant and owner of buns and abs of steel  ;))

DTM, EQUINOX is indead schlock! LOL!

It used to play on Saturday nights Creature Features quite often when I was a kid...but it seems to have developed quite a following...the only thing I liked about it was the use of stop motion animated monsters.

The poster is rather cool, tho!

I've always detested the Disneyfication of the theatre district.  In the downloadable Tony Awards program (it's available on either Playbill-Online.com or TonyAwards.org--I forget where at the mo') there's an upbeat article on the current state of B'way.  To drive home the point, it contains a sentence:  "Do you remember what the neighborhood was like twenty years ago?"  I do.  It had character, then.  Now it resembles nothing more than a retail mall, with the same stores and goods you can buy just about anywhere else.  Thanks goodness that there are still theatres around.  Though I shudder to think how long it might be before the building owners come to believe that their profit margins are not meeting the potential windfalls these spaces might otherwise supply.

I must agree with DRMBARNUM re: EQUINOX....horrible and bottom of the barrel.  WTH is it doing with a Criterion release?  THE BLOB, just maybe, but EQUINOX?

I can only have hope then that the Criterion ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN can't be far behind.

My sql socks were causing problems on the site this morning as well.

Drama at the theatre.

Nathan the ASM said: "Cast Pepsi machine is empty."  I gave him the key and said fill it up!  Yesterday the fool who orders looked in the office and thought "We have enough product for opening (four performances including a HOT Sunday matinee) so he didn't order anything."

Cast machine filled....NO Pepsi product left for the audience!  Man who orders Pepsi is called:  Wife says:  He is busy and can't be bothered with that.  Don't call him again.

8-/

Emergency order from Pepsi to arrive today or tomorrow.

Dan, at least we still have the Landmarks law or what you speak of could probably come to pass. After the destruction of the Morosco and original Helen Hayes Theatres we woke up, a little anyway. They built over the Palace, they built over the (now closed) Mark Hellinger, you can't convince me that they could not have built over the Morosco and the Helen Hayes.

It was warmish in my house when I woke up, but cooler outside, so I opened the doors and windows. Then, a rain storm came through that REALLY cooled things off. I hit the attic fan button and now the house is delightfully cool.

Of course, once the sun does come out, the outside will be like a sauna, but for now, it's the coolest it's been in over a week.

Thanks!  (and thanks DR TPUNK)....yup most of the costumes are very nice!  ;D

And to set your mind at ease, Amy Hayes who plays Maria (though a bit mature for the role) is a lovely woman, easy to work with and great fun.

Her husband Andrew is playing Capt Von Trapp and he is very good as well.  He is an acting teacher at DePauw university and also teaches stage combat.  He is a good singer and very nice to work with as well.  Hopefully we'll get some more photos.  ;D

Amy BTW is the daughter of Mr Bill Gaither who is a rather well known Gospel singer - or something.....   :D

I predict a NYC visit from SWW and DerB in the near future:

Quote
The dog-centered musical Tails will hit the 45th Street Theater this summer. The show will begin performances on June 7.
Tails, featuring book and lyrics by Mark Masi and music by Jess Platt, tells the story of five dogs in a dog pound who wait and hope to be chosen for adoption. The dogs include Speagle, the love-smitten mutt; Sophie, the show dog; and a new puppy surrounded by mystery. The cast of Tails includes Bethe Austin, Miguel Cervantes, William Thomas Evans (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Gerry McIntyre (Once on this Island) and Tracey Stephens.

Tails was just seen in New York. A developmental workshop of the tuner played upstairs in a black box theater at the same 45th Street location it will inhabit from April 29 through May 14. This full commercial production, featuring a different cast, will play at the larger downstairs space.

Tails, directed and choreographed by Christopher Scott (resident director of AMAS Musical Theater), is scheduled to officially open on June 18.

As for the Disney-fication of Times Square...  It's not just Times Square...

Take Washington, DC: There's a Hard Rock Cafe on the same block as Ford's Theatre.  DC's Chinatown is now mainly composed of steakhouses, seafood joints, fast food counters and a 24 theatre Mega-Cine-Plex.  And a Target is going up in the middle of the Mount Pleasant neighborhood.  Even when I was walking around L.A. a few years ago, the number of national chains, both retail and restaurants, popping up in "Old Hollywood" was kind of staggering.  For better or worse, it's progress.

As for Times Square itself...  I seem to recall the whole "Disneyfication" starting before Disney even got there.  Again, for better or for worse...  Yes, I do miss some of the older buildings and landmarks, but I do not miss some of the eyesores, "overt" sex shops, and some of the denizens of those establishments.  *And I still remember sitting in the Port Authority Bus Terminal one night while waiting for a bus while watching the police and their dogs making clockwork drug busts every 30 minutes in the bathrooms.

Yes, I will miss Barrymore's, Puleo's, Puleo's Too, Sam's... But I don't blame Disney, I blame the building landlords who want to turn a quick buck.  Surely, none of those properties were true money-losing ventures at this point.  They could have said, "No."  At least I think  - and hope - that they could have.  *And I have to wonder how much power Starbucks now has in the whole scheme of things.

...And that's about all the words I can string together right now on this topic...

About two months ago, I upgraded us to a new server with our host.  I was told there would be far less problems if I did it, and it's now costing almost double what I paid before.  And I think we've had more "too many connections" than ever, especially lately.  Maybe they're doing work, or maybe their server is being spammed and all their clients are having this problem, but they have no communication skills whatsoever and they never admit there's a problem.  Yesterday, when I wrote them, they wrote back a one line response - "loads fine for us".  Ten minutes later, I got a "too many connections" and I sent them that - never heard back, be ten seconds later everything worked fine.  I got up at eight-forty-five this morning, got the dreaded "too many connections" sent them an e saying that for double the cost this should not be happening.  Didn't hear back - but suddenly everything worked again.  A year ago, I talked to another host, but it was going to be so complex to move us that I didn't want to take the chance of something going wrong.  I may now start exploring those options again.  It wouldn't be bad if they'd admit their problems, but I really have no patience with people who don't know how to communicate.

I know it must be very frustrating for you, bk. I don't think it's too much to ask for someone to operate a business that works effeciently and to take care of problems with minimal fuss and bother to the customers as much as they can.

There should be no shame in admitting there are problems. I don't know of any business out there where problems don't exist.

Because we live in a world where people like Katie Couric become celebrities in the first place.

And I'll dare to further comment that it was, before Katie, Bryant Gumbel making the all-over-the-news, much-heralded, on-to-bigger-more-important-things move to CBS.

Yes...THE Bryant Gumbel....KING of NBC...and he dwindled down into a celebrity footnote because it was the "Today Show" formula that made him somebody.  Without it, his meager talents fell far too short.

So long, Katie.

Here I am posting again...more than an hour since my last post.

I took a short break and walked partially around Lake Merritt and back again....the lake is more than 3 miles in circumference, but I did just over a mile of walking, round-trip.  The day is glorious, I feel great, and it's closing in on lunch time.

Life can be good.

Try wiping them down with distilled water, or dipping them in it.

Well, I actually made it in. I hope the post goes through. I was unable to get on from 11:30 to just now! I did get in for a few minute and when I tried to go from Page 2 to Page 3 I got kicked out. Now that I'm here I don't want to leave.

Jose, you are right about not missing some of the seamier aspects of Times Square and you're right also about it happening outside of Times Square also. In Chelsea places are dropping like flies. If I don't go to 8th Avenue for a week or two I'm almost always surprised by the new store or the old store that has closed up. Speaking of Chinatown in DC, WOW is it different from the Chinatown of a few years ago. We noticed the huge multiplex on our way to dinner after the movie at the E Street Cinema. I haven't been in that neighborhood for a long time. It's quite a change.

While I too mourn the passing of Barrymore;s and the like I do appreciate the removal of some of the unsavory elements of Times Square.  Back in the late 70's when my friends and I would come in there were prostitutes and drug dealers openly hawking their wares  in the Times Square  area as soon as the sun went down, and sometimes earlier than that.

One particularly scary moment when my girlfriend and I  (we were both around  16 or 17) had just gottenour tickets at the TKTS booth and were walking to the theatre when a large man, dressed like a character from Shaft, walked between us, linked arms with us, very tightly,  and  starting telling us how  "two fine ladies like yourselves could make some wonderful money working for me"

There are some elements of old Times Square I was happy to see go by the wayside!

Dakota I’m jealous of the pup.  Do you have photos?  I would get another one if my body could handle grooming the dog.  I stopped browsing the Bernese Mountain Dog sites, including the rescue ones.

I have continued to browse the Chocolate Labrador sites.  A couple of days ago I found the photo of an older puppy in Santa Barbara and absolutely fell in love.  I would take her in a heartbeat if we didn’t have plans to travel.  We don’t feel it is right to leave for a long trip just weeks after getting a dog.

On our way to L.A. to meet up with Craig we are going to stop and visit one or two dog breeders I’m interested in, maybe even see the older puppy (if there is still a chance we can take her).   I have told Keith we will get a dog even if I can’t have the one that just tugged at my heartstrings, it is simply (not really so simple) a matter of choosing the best time.

The cable man's checked out my modem, my cable and the main cable to the building, so hopefully all is now well.  However, amazon.com, eBay, Broadwayworld.com, Theatremania, and other sites load in immediately.  HHW is taking forever.  Oy!

I did catch, while waiting for the service man, a bit of the revoltingly moronic PASSIONS.  Half of this Puritan town - which has only Catholics, no protestants, no jews, no other religion except for the witch - has gone to Rome, but it's quite bizarre there:  the dumb whore, her pimp and her friends are out fighting in some ruins in the daylight, while the blonde bimbo has gone to bed and it's pitch black in her Roman hotel room.  Is Ed Wood alive?

Jane - Re your question yesterday about Abie's glow. Nothing special was done - just a shampoo. He's just clean!

Re Katie Couric - yes, I agree that the long farewell is a bit much. (I'm sure SHE'S pretty embarrassed by extent of it.) BUT I don't agree that her fame is a simply a product of our celebrity worshipping times a la Paris Hilton. She's not a person who's famous for being famous. She's paid her dues. Couric is very good at what she does. And she's done some excellent, hardhitting interviews (along with the silly stuff, yes). Whether she'll be a good CBS anchor remains to be seen. But I do think she deserves respect and a chance before being written off as a lightweight with a great smile.

Maria, I agree with you. I too feel that Katie should be given a chance. She has done some very important stories including a series she did on colon cancer.

Respect, yes!  She deserves a lot for what she has accomplished.

But she's not NEWS in the sense that Marines dying in Iraq are news or in the sense that a mother has drowned her babies in the bathtub news.

I have not once mistaken what has been said as being an assault on her professional journalistic integrity.  Instead, it's been a condemnation of a society in which such celebrity is vaunted over things much more significant.  The newsworthiness of the subject is probably more tied to the millions of dollars she's getting to jump ship and go to CBS.

Katie probably is embarrassed, but I do believe much more is being made of her move/last day/etc. than the coverage merits.

But as long as there is celebrity worship in society, celebrities WILL dominate the news.

Only time will tell whether she can live up to the hype.

I finished watching CLOSER when I got in from lunch. I recorded it off HBO-HD to see if a high definition image would make this very intimate drama any more dramatic. Didn't help; didn't hurt, and as I have with it every time I've watched it, I enjoyed it very much.

I think Clive Owen deserved the Oscar for this performance. (Morgan Freeman won it for MILLION DOLLAR BABY. He's a fantastic actor, but though he was fine in that film, I think it was an award given for his many fine prior performances rather than for that single performance.)

Regarding the changes in the look of the city:  Has anyone seen BLADE RUNNER in the past couple of years?  I remember how far-fetched the "look" of the movie seemed back when it first came out, but now we seem to have gone beyond even the fictitious urban world it portrayed.  (Much like seeing NETWORK again recently.  When the movie was made, it seemed far-fetched, and we've gone beyond it in terms of what's happened to TV shows.)

When you get home, get a 6-oz glass, fill it with hot tap water, dissolve two tablespoons of salt in the water and then GARGLE.  Spit out.  GARGLE another mouthful.  Continue until glass is empty (stir the water in the glass before taking a new mouthful to ensure salt dissolves).

Celebrities have always been newsmakers and I am sure they always will be. I am very happy for Ms. Couric's promotion, but I don't have much interest in it all, so have not paid much attention to any of the goings on. Whether others care enough about her or her promotion, I do not know.

And since many people complain that there are only bad things in the news...well, I guess this would be one of those good things that people are always wanting reported in the news.

This whole Broadway discussion reminded me of a song we used to sing on the party barge at the lake.  (It's a party barge because it's a huge pontoon boat with a bathroom and a wet bar....what more do you need?)

Nueva Broadway (They Don't Smoke) - Buster Poindexter (David Johansen and Brian Koonan)

I can't believe what's happening on Broadway today
The ladies of the evening are going away
Disney's built a fortress in the heart of Times Square
The most wholesome people will soon be there

(chorus) (2x)
They don't smoke. They don't drink.
They'll turn this town into a mall
And I don't know what to think

Hubert had his circus on Forty Second Street
The most fabulous freaks you'd ever what to meet
To us that emporium was built on hallowed ground
But the city fathers shut it down

Chorus 2x

No more raunch, No more sleeze
Not even one old time polite strip tease
They don't rob, they don't steal
And they confuse that Batman's car with a pimpmobile

They don't curse, they don't swear
And on Sunday mornings they are lost in prayer
They don't lie, they don't cheat
They're Christian soldiers and they're marching down our street

Grant's was the best bar I was ever in
The center of the universe, a cauldron of sin
Sure sometimes when the lights went out, someone would get shot
That's no reason to bring back Camelot

Chorus

In the golden days of yore
Grayline would take them on a tour
It was them, it was us
But at least they would remain upon the bus
They say thanks, they say please
And they cover up their noses when they sneeze
They have jobs, no welfare
They don't even know the meaning of dispair
They don't shout, they don't spit
There aren't many crimes they're willing to commit
They don't pack guns, they don't pull knives
I don't know how these people think they will survive.

Mbarnum,

Have you heard of Bollywood HOllywood?

Kya Hkehna!
Ram Jakhan
Ghaath
naina
Khuda Gawah
Main Hoon Na

DakatoCelt,

I have not seen any of these films... MAIN HOON NA I do have on DVD...but haven't watched yet...it is supposed to be a very good movie.

BOLLYWOOD HOLLYWOOD is actually only a semi-Bollywood movie...it is a Canadian film using mostly Canadian-Indian actors (although it looks like they did import some actually Bollywood actors).

Is NAINA the 1973 film? If so it sounds like a fun, typical film from that era...probably some good songs and lots of romantic melodrama.

The other titles I am not familiar with.

It was a very beautiful day here in the City of Studio.  Trying to figure out what I want to do tonight.  What I WANT to do tonight is watch another Ozu film, and yet I cannot for I do not have another Ozu film to watch.  If I get up the energy, I might try and take some "trade" material over to Amoeba, but that's a ten-minute drive I may not wish to take, especially as I'd have to wait until after rush hour traffic - at least until seven.

A whole day today without information waitressing!  I was deep into Excel until 2pm, then a meeting about a new computer installation in my area, then a couple hours of writing verbiage for my manager to use in the formal proposal for that installation.

DH Richard and I went to dinner at the local spaghetti jernt.  I watched the first hour or so of the C-Span special on the US Capitol and left when the call-in part began.  Maybe I'll go back to it, maybe I'll stay here for a while, then go to bed early.

Very knowledgeable about musical theater, that Toby.  I asked for the name of Christine's boyfriend in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and he howled "Raoul!"  I gave him a treat for that.

I asked what an out-of-town tryout of a musical is like, he said "Rough!"  I gave him another treat.

And I asked where the fiddler is, he said "Roof!"  He got another treat.

But he's not THAT smart.  I asked what Rosalind Russell's best role was, and he said "Ruth!"

I didn't give him a treat for that.  So he said to Dylan, "You think I should have said Auntie Mame?"

Keith did a bit of research to figure out what those snakes were doing:

“Male gopher snakes engage in ritualistic combats during the spring mating season. The combatants remain on the ground, entwined from tail to neck. Each tries to maintain its head and body position, although occasionally they will exert so much force that they roll. Hissing frequently, they rarely bite one another.”

It was fascinating to watch, very pretty too.

Had a little low-fat cottage cheese, but I'm still hungry, and since I've only eaten eggs, 2 tortillas (low-fat), and cottage cheese, I'm thinking a nice big salad from Jerry's will do me just fine - their house chopped salad (just veggies) with a little oil and red wine vinegar to dress it.  Low-cal and very filling.

Jane, I'm so happy about your friend's good result. Must be a heavy load off your mind.

Vixmom - feel better, kiddo.

I had a lovely day - not too hot, but not raining buckets! Yesterday I went to Fred Meyer in Monroe, WA and bought $25 worth of flower starts for my boxes and baskets. Maybe tomorrow I'll plant 'em all! That will be so beeyootifull!!! I look forward to it each year.

AND - the blue jays come and stand on my knee and take peanuts out of my fingers. It happened so quickly this year - must be some of the same birds. And the starlings are nesting under the eaves again - I can hear them in there building stuff. And they fly in and out, and whistle their song. It's so awesome! Robins in the yard, because I have been ripping up weeds and exposing worms - great big ones!

I do love it here. How peaceful and happy I feel.

My brother-in-law went to Medford today and brought my mom back to Salem with him..Saturday my brother's Allen and Dan will bring all of my mom's belongings and we will move her into her new home on Center St just a short walk from my house.

I think she was a little sad about leaving Medford...she had a glass of wine tonight at dinner...and she never drinks anymore!

I think she will enjoy being up here, however, and being close to family that she hasn't lived near in 20, 30 40, 50 years or more (she grew up in Portland but moved to Medford in 1949 when she got married, the first time).

Ah, HHW. It's so nice to know that when I randomly have a free night, and I'm perusing the internet, this site will always be here. I also love that no matter how long it is between my visits (6 months, this break has been. Hoooooly crap.), there are still so many familiar usernames/pictures/personalities :).

My life, as I always update you on, has been ridiculously busy. I am currently 17 days away from high school graduation, and the moment cannot come fast enough! I'm SO ready to be out of here! I did love high school, and I have tons of great memories, but this past month has been pretty torturous.

Recap since *checks last post* December 15th :). The first weekend in January, I went to NYC with the Theatre Department of my school, where I was lucky enough to see The Light in the Piazza, Doubt, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The Odd Couple. I was also lucky that I saw the last performance of Doubt with the original cast, and met them after the show- I know the production is old news, but I was beyond impressed, it went above and beyond any expectations I had held, and Cherry Jones is one of the sweetest and most fun women I've ever met.

The day we returned, we had auditions for our spring musical, The Secret Garden. I was very unfamiliar with the show, but auditioned anyway, and was lucky enough to be cast as Lily. That took us all the way to the weekend of March 30-April 2. I grew to love the show, not only because of how challenging and wonderful the story was, but because it was so refreshing to do something that nobody else had ever really done- our director was fantastic and we put it on brilliantly. The realization that it was my last production on that stage was a hard-hitting one, but I was very proud to have been in it.

The last couple months have been spent catching up on all sorts of homework, and basically enjoying my remaining time in high school. Prom was 3 weeks ago, and yes, I was on my best behavior, and went with a friend who I attended the Governor's School with last summer.

I also left my job at the Cafe that I had worked at for the past 2.5 years- the restaurant was going through a lot of changes, and I was becoming increasingly unhappy with the way things were being handled, as well as becoming bored with it all. Two and a half years is a long time to work in a restaurant, and once I was anything less than content with my work, I knew I had to leave. I waited until the musical had ended, and I started applying to various places in my area. I am now a proud employee of Borders Books and Music! And, ironically, I'm working in the cafe, although it's 100% different. I love love love working there (and I also love love love my 33% discount :)), and I'm having a great time.

In the fall, I am going to be attending the Music School of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, which is also home to long lost DR Maya! I was accepted to Christopher Newport University, Mary Baldwin College, and Shenandoah University also, but decided that JMU was my best fit. I was unfortunately waitlisted from McGill (DR Emily's school), and not surprisingly denied from Curtis in Philly, a school which accepted ONE vocalist all year. JMU is a great undergrad school, and is far enough from my house that my parents won't be dropping in, but if I wish, I can go home to visit.

Other than all of this, I have no real news. Life is good, summer is allllllllllmost here! I don't know about where you are all located, but it is HOT in Northern Virginia, and I'm loving it!

Just as I always end my posts, I'm going to try very hard to keep reading HHW, but the Lord knows it'll be hard. Please please email me at sarah@davishome.us, I'd love to hear from everyone.

Good luck on your finals, working at Borders {I suspect my pocketbook would be in trouble there!} and all the best in your college plans...

I just watched Must Love Dogs - kind of pleasant company, but an awkward film with many strange non-sequiter scenes, and loose stuff, and the actors are very charming, so one didn't feel too terribly bored by the whole thing... although along toward the last half hour, I kept wondering, "How LONG IS this movie???"

Ongoing well-wishes for you, TCB. It just takes time - heck, we have plenty of that, huh? Just hang out, enjoy life, heal a bit each day. Sleep pain-free, my friend! Good night.

Always nice to see Swishy Sarah.  Good thing she didn't stop by this morning, or she wouldn't have said "nice to see that HHW is always here" :-)

If it's not too late, do you need a photograph or clip art?  Here are a few links (I'm just posting the link to the images because a couple are too large):

Here's a ketchup phone!  http://web.ivenue.com/customphones/images/ketchup.jpg (http://web.ivenue.com/customphones/images/ketchup.jpg)
