Well, you've read the notes, the notes were friendlier than my about to be ex-friend, and now it is time for you to post until the friendly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERQUISITE!
-
Ending a freindship is not easy and it often hurts but sometimes is better for both parties concerned. There will be good days and there will be bad ones. Take what you can from it and continue for perhaps in the sadness and heartache there is always that golden ray.
I have had a lot of freinds come and go, including some dissolutions of friendships, have been less painful than others.
If you feel that you did the right thing in your soul, then go with it. Cherish the good and sift way the bad.
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Who knows, BK. Maybe in a little while (a Once Upon a Matress reference), maturity will finally set in and the friendship might be able to resume...after a suitable period of growth. Anything's possible.
Or not. :-\
-
And the word of the day is: PERQUISITE!
When I first saw this, the only thing I could think of was that that was how you spelled "Percocet." Not quite. ::)
-
God morning, all! Well, yesterday was not a good day, so today can only be better. Right? Let's hope.
Today, I have a trip to Toyland and a farewell to Mr Tom Murray who is off to London to do THE LAST 5 YEARS until October, I believe. He's been a wonderful collaborator on the Herbert scores for the past two years and I will miss his company and thoughts for the next few months.
Dear Friend BK, you and I have fought horrible battles and remained friends, and my advice is not to send the email. I already know too much about this one you're dealing with because I, too, have known you for the past 12 years. Some friendships are fluid and in flux, close and intense one day, then distant for long periods; it doesn't mean they're over, just no longer as important. Feeling used and abused is one thing, feeling abandoned is another, and I'm not sure exactly whether either of thise applies. I suggest space and time, which does not heal everything. Form some new friendships and let the damaged one heal or die on its own.
I digress here: it took about a month before my wallet was returned by the US Postal Service.

I love that song too. It really says a lot. The Skinner and Ripley recording is one of the best.

I also agree with this very wise man.

I tend to let friendships fade away naturally.

"With a Friend Like You" from MAN WITH A LOAD OF MISCHIEF

Good Morning!
...Just got back from moving the car... And, unfortunately, it appears a small nest of newborn birds had fallen from a tree and landed on the hood of my car sometime over the weekend. I guess the rains loosened it from the branches. Hopefully, that will not be omen for how the rest of my day will go today...
In any case...
*Of course, what I'm really bummed about is that there is no other "Parking Holiday" until July 4, and then no other one until Labor Day.
;)
-
...Although, I guess since I'm finally getting rid of my car at the end of this month...
I guess that's sort of good news... In advance... Sort of...
-
Birds on the Hood of My Car....this is the title of my new CD!
-
What a sad topic of the day....and what a tragic situation.
I guess that friendships in the business of show are different than friendships in just civilian life....in that one person helping another leads to obvious and beneficial consequences. And if said person seems to ONLY value the friendship for said benefits, well.....is that a friendship?
But then if said person's company is enjoyed and said person is honest about motives ...
I don't know.
I will say however....that I have NEVER been sorry I didn't say something....but there are many things I wish I had never said.
And so I guess my advice would be similar to DR ELMORE's.
-
Too bad about Hairspray, but I'm not completely surprised. Cutting a show down to 90 minutes with a pumped up performance schedule will wear out a show's welcome (IMHO) faster than usual. I also think the idea of making Las Vegas the new Broadway is doomed to failure. Most people who go to Vegas don't go to see the latest Broadway tour. Even the new "family friendly" Las Vegas doesn't seem to be a rousing new stop on the Tour Schedule. Just my Two Cents.
-
bk - As for the e-mail and the friendship... I, too, have to agree with DR elmore. Don't send the e-mail. It seems as if the "friendship" has already starting to dissolve itself. And from what I gather, you haven't heard from this person in the past couple of days as it is - which is why you're sending the e-mail in the first place - so just leave it at that for now. Save the e-mail to a file on your computer. Treat it like a (snail mail) letter you never sent. You just had to put the pen to paper - or your fingers to the keyboard - to get your thoughts and feelings organized.
Ultimately, I guess what you have to ask yourself is this: Will sending the e-mail help you? Or will it help the other person? My sense is that even though you do want to end this friendship, you ultimately don't want to hurt this person. You have already helped yourself by writing the e-mail. If you think that the contents of your e-mail will help the other person, that it will not fall on deaf ears, well, then send it. But again, as DR elmore stated, unless there was some sort of abuse of feelings , just let the apathy take its course.
...And if somewhere down the line, in the near or distant future, this person should contact you regarding a professional or personal matter, you have a plethora of options at your disposal: "I'm busy." "I can't do that." "Call someone else." "No." "Goodbye." Or simply hit the "Erase/Delete" key on your cellphone as soon as the message starts.
-
As for Hairspray closing in Las Vegas... Well, that explains some of the calls I've been getting lately...
And with the delayed opening of the Vegas Phantom of the Opera, and the upcoming production of Spamalot... Well... We shall just have to wait and see...
-
Hmm...
Just watching Stokes perform on "The Today Show"... They had some strange tape/sound delay going on for the first 30 seconds of his song. -Which happened to be a cool combination of "Take The A Train" and "Another Hundred People".
-
DR Elmore3003 is a smart man BK, I would take his advice.
DearReaderLaura's also.
Friendships come and go. Take pleasure in the good times you had with the person and look forward to the good times you will have with current and future friends.

I just realized that I have a Kevin Spirtas DVD. It is called GREEN PLAID SHIRT. Maybe I will watch it this weekend.
I didn't realize tha Kevin was in it.

Wow! The upcoming issue of SCARLET STREET magazine will be jam packed with Dear Readers and HHWians!!!
Bruce Kimmel, JRand55, FJL and his everloving Skip Kennon, and myself all have a hand in this issue with interviews, reviews, and more!!
I am sure that TD is involved somehow as well!

Hiya, folks.
I got some bad news last night - remember the chapter in Jewish Thighs, early in the book, describing the protagonist's NYC apartment? Well, the actual apartment - all those years ago - belonged to an actual opera singer who had actually been engaged to sing leading roles in Berlin, and let me sub-let. For eleven years.
Anyway, she is very ill and without insurance and destitute and in Lenox Hill Hospital - last time I saw her - well over a year ago - she was her customary 5'10, 220 lbs. And apparently now is down under 120. She hadn't returned any of her friends' calls for months, and of course, never did go see a doctor... finally, she did call a physician friend, who ordered her to Lenox Hill - which does have a charity policy. I'm about to call to talk to her.
Bruce - I'd have to agree with Elmo on the email. You can set your boundaries for your own sanity and emotional safety, and be firm about your friends and associates stepping over the line. Kindness to yourself does not require a formal divorce decree in this matter.
Seven years ago, I had a bad experience with my oldest friend. I withdrew, for my own well-being... and there was silence between us, until a couple of months ago - when I called and we picked up where we left off. Life is long. You never know who is going to name their first child Bruce...
-
OH, Penny, that is very sad about your opera singer friend. :-\
-
Good morning!
Ditto yesterday - a cool morning and a beautiful day. I'm enjoying it while it lasts because I know it won't be for long.
-
I have to agree with all of the above posters; I wouldn't send the e-mail. Let the relationship take a natural course, and if it ends, it ends. But if a call for help should occur sometime later, there wouldn't be any hesitation about how to handle it.

Well spoken elmore. Every relationship has its comings and goings and different people need different things at times. I have friendships that have lasted nearly forty years, sometime we were on the phone 3 times a day and sometimes we spoke 3 times a year but I always know as do they, that if one of us calls the other would answer.
Unless this person has done something intentionally, unforgivably cruel I would let things lie. Sometimes life just gets in the way of calling and being there, it doesn't mean the connection is any less strong.
Better a dormant friend than an active enemy.
And that's the end of my mommy speech for the day.
:-*

I'm going to sit ojn my side porch for a bit enjoying the cool air and reading. Then, I'll start preparing lunch.

-
I'm up, I'm up. And have read all the advice thus far, which I know is sage and wise, not necessarily in that order. I'm the type of person who likes to put periods at the ends of things. I also am the type of person who likes to at least let people know that actions have results and why people feel the way they do. I also know the person well enough that if I don't do something she will just continue to call at her own leisure when she feels like it and that will be very awkward, I think, because I just don't want to have that kind of nothingness. So, I can ignore the calls, in which case she'll start asking what's going on (this is not the smartest cracker in the box), she'll finally need my advice or help, or I'll get a deal to do my play and then I'll have to let her know then that she will not be doing it. So, I'm still in a quandry. I suppose I don't have to send the e-mail today and I can just keep reading the advice here. But I also don't want to "think" about this anymore, which I've been doing a lot. Writing the e-mail was good, I agree. So, keep posting your thoughts, especially about the above.

Alert the media. Start spreadin' the news. Tell your friends - Deceit, the DVD is now available for preorder at www.kritzerland.com!

I had a terrible dinner last night, no thanks to the waiter who brought dishes to the table seemingly when he felt like it...not when they were prepared.
The soup was sent back because it was tepid and should have been hot.
The main course was tasty once it was all laid out before me. There was a filet cooked to perfection. But some veggies arrived 5 minutes after the filet. A potato, not quite fully baked, was placed on the table about 10 minutes in.
When I paid the bill, I left a note for the waiter saying that I appreciate the service waiters provide and suggested he find another line of work.
In the event, however, that he was in some kind of pain, I hoped the percocet I left him would suffice.
-
Friendship -- it's wonderful, it's challenging, and sometime it's depressing.
Since we're not naming names, I can only presume to know who BK is talking about.
And Bruce, you've gotten some good advice from Larry...and some good amens from Penny and Matt.
However, you must be true to yourself as well. If you can heed their advice AND find a way to be comfortable about putting a period at the end of the sentence, that would be a good thing to do. Sentences can be amended...periods can be turned into semi-colons...or commas... if something can be appended later on.
You might find it more satisfying later on to find this person "wooing" you.
Be cold. Be remote.
But when the time comes to explain why you're being that way, explain it to her. Whatever her response/reaction, you will already be in a "safe" place.
-
I do love this here site and its denizens.
We've had our first order for Deceit - and for three copies yet. Only ninety-seven chances left for a signed copy!
-
Can one of you computer people tell me why my printer is screwing up? It's an Epson 4600 - I just put in a new black ink cartridge but it's not printing any black at all when I print out stuff. How come?
-
Talking from my own experience, I can say that I've regretted the strongly worded letters and faxes that have gone out by my hand (a lot of them were before email became common, I've to SOME degree learned some lessons about putting extremely harsh thoughts in writing, I think) when I've been annoyed about something, mainly because those can be pulled out years later and looked at and copies can be passed around and shown to other people. I'd assume the same is true of emails.
I've rarely regretted a phone call or a phone message in terms of any negative feelings conveyed, though. The written notes have found their way into the hands of other friends and business acquaintances, and have proven embarrassing in some situations when they're read by people whom I did not intend would read them.
So i'm speaking practically when I say it's better to express displeasure verbally, if not for the impact on the person to whom it's directed, then for the impact on people who may end up with a copy of the latter, fax or email in their possession. I've learned about this the hard way - a fax I sent in 1994 has come back to haunt me recently, not via the recipient, but from a comparatively new (and frankly important) acquaintance, who apparently saw a copy of it.
-
I got a couple of DVDs in yesterday's mail. One was actually a 5-movie pack -- the Cecil B. DeMille collection. The other I watched last night.
This was the 1965 "Ten Little Indians" with Hugh O'Brian, Shirley Eaton, Leo Genn, Daliah Lavi (!). Wilfrid Hyde-White, Fabian and Stanley Holloway.
There were three other actors, of course, including Dennis Price...but much less well-known to me.
First, the good news is that the film is well-paced, appealingly cast and beautifully filmed.
Second, the bad news is that the musical underscore -- by Malcolm Lockyer -- is an appalling mess of mid-60s "pop" nonsense that spoiled many a film because producers wanted a "now" sound rather than something totally appropriate.
This film is scored like it's a comedy -- rather than the mystery that it is -- and it's annoying. There are some good moments, of course, and it's entirely possible to sit through the film and enjoy it without cringing at the ghastly pseudo-Carnaby Street Beat that Lockyer imposes upon the proceedings.
I "thought" I had good memories of this film version of the Christie story (adequately updated for this film, but not improving upon what is terrific-as-it-is at all).
And this was okay entertainment that kept my attention up to 8 p.m. when the two-hour series closer of "Everwood" started.
And "Everwood" was SUPERB!
-
FJL - I know what you mean - and certainly now that I've written this thing, I could in fact do this via phone at some point and have it in front of me as a reference so I wouldn't forget anything. I also went through it and made sure it was even-keeled, which it now is.
Now, about my printer....
-
Re: your printer. We have an Epson and it has a "help" section that can be accessed by going through the control panel. It could be that it hasn't "noticed" that you've reinstalled the ink cartridge and running it through the self check may help it figure it out.

Welcome, New Reader BoreDetector. You'll be very busy here if you are our official proofreader.
-
BK- It sort boils down to whether or not how important your friend's presence in your life is, and vice verse. If you were good freinds and you really don't want to break off the friendship, then you should sit down and talk it out. If your friend is too immature to do that, then that's when the friendship should be evaulated. Rather than a "this is the last communication...." email, just fade back into the distance and go on with your life. They may come back someday, and if the friendship you share now is strong, it's possible you can get it back.
If it's a professional thing and they only come to you when they need something, then the next time they do that, you're too busy to help them. They in turn will probably stop speaking to you and if that's the case, they weren't a good friend, then you can be sad and sit back and sigh. But if they are a good friend, they'll be back. Perhaps when some maturity sets in.
-
Dear BK,
Who is Anthony Cooper?
-
Bk, doesn't your friend read this here site? Just because she doesn't post, it doesn't mean she doesn't lurk. Perhaps she already knows what you have to say and that is why she's stayed away.
-
Dear PennyO, I am very sorry about your friend's illness.
~~~~~~~Vibes~~~~~
-
I don't know from printer problems but I did just order me a copy of DECEIT! ;D
I also ask, who is Anthony Cooper? I don't recall you mentioning him as being in DECEIT.
-
No, she doesn't read the site, but if she for some reason did, then she'd call and say she had, that much I know.
Staples said the printer heads had probably gone bad. Bought a new Epson, their latest version of the model I had. With the rebate it was pretty cheap. I've hooked it up and it's printing just fine. I'd never seen the help center before and I probably should hook the old printer up again to see if there was anything that could have been helped.
-
Good Afternoon!
About to head out for the afternoon/day... I'm gonna head into work with James and we're going to grab some lunch along the way. And then I just plan to wander around for awhile - in the rain most likely. I just don't want stay cooped up in my apartment like I did all day yesterday. So... Before I go...
-
I can't reveal who Anthony Cooper is as Deceit is dependent on its surprises. Those who've seen Deceit know, but they'll keep mum on the subject.
-
bk - So you went out and bought a new printer in the meantime? In any case...
Any time you install a new print cartridge in Epson printers, you need to run the Printer Set Up Utility so that it can re-calibrate the ink-level monitors, as well as clean the print heads.
Print heads do go bad after a while, and then you have to bite the financial bullet and buy a set of new print-heads - if that's an option for the printer. -And, hopefully, the new print-heads won't cost as much as getting a new printer would.
-
DR PennyO - Sorry to hear about your friend. Would you like anything delivered to her?
Jose - Not sure if you saw it, but the Washington Post review of the Signature Theater's ASSASSINS is quite a rave.
Thanks for the heads up. -Although, I'm not that surprised it got a rave. That's DC Theatre and DC Theatre critics for ya'.
-And that's all I'll say on the matter for now.
Off to lunch...
Penny - So sorry to hear about your friend.
Penny - Did you ever ask for those extra copies of the BMI newsletter with your article as the cover article?
This cute li'l fella just showed up on my door step in a basket with a note "Please give me a good home"
What d'ya think, should I?
-
When you're down and troubled
And you need some love and care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up
Even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together baby
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me
Knockin' at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
Ain't it good to know that
You've got a friend?
People can be so cold oh yeah
They'll hurt you and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
But don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
You've got a friend
You've got a friend.
-
Bruce- Can you share more about how you might OF done it by phone?
-
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got troubles, well I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It's me and you
And as the years go by
Boys, our friendship will never die
You're gonna see
It's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
Good vibes for DR PennyO's friend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I rode my bike for the first time since my neck problems (a few weeks ago).
While on my bike the weirdest thing happened.
I felt something on my head. Well actually i felt it on my helmut. It felt sort of heavy. And I sort of shook my head (while riding) and you'll never guess what it was??
A BIRD!
What the heck was a bird doing landing on my head? I have never experienced anything like this.
-
I do love this here site and its denizens.
I can't do a thing until the fershluganeh institue pays me!
Hmmm, interesting that you put Deceit up for pre-order today. I actually checked last week. But of course you put it up the day after i go over my finances and decide that i am not buying anything for myself for the near future. I try to be very careful with money. And i've actually never owed a penny on my credit card bills. I've mapped out the next 8 months and right now it's more important to me to help out someone very important to me financially vs buying stuff for me.
-
Bruce- Can you share more about how you might OF done it by phone?
Perhaps YOU can share how you go through life being THIS RUDE without someone's fist being crammed down your throat. >:(
BK, re: whether to send the email to your friend.
First off, I'll bet she reads about it here. I'm sure someone that she knows will probably tell her about it.
Second, I agree with those who said not to send it. Since you have professional ties to her, it's not really practical for you to never speak to her again.
I think if you've decided she's too immature, then just cool things off. It doesn't have to be the complete end of things. If/when she calls you to find out why you are not talking to her, then perhaps you can tell her that you've decided not to do the play with her, and maybe you can share why you feel the way you do.
But i don't think there is any reason to tell her never to contact you again. That is really harsh. Unless she's done something really terrible that we don't know about. She needs to grow out of this phase. ANd if you don't want to be around her 24/7 anymore that is your choice. But i don't think you have to make a huge deal about it.
-
Dear BoreDetector - if you came here to cause trouble, you will be leaving our merry little troupe faster than a speeding bullet (I'm fairly certain I know where BoreDetector comes from) - if you'd like to stay and post something interesting, do feel free.
WEll who knows. I did not check the top of my helmut. He might have done more!
Actually i think he was just flying past me and sort of hit my head (if that's even possible).
Jose - Not sure if you saw it, but the Washington Post review of the Signature Theater's ASSASSINS is quite a rave.
I'm sure it's because they didn't ask me to work on it again! ;D
DR PennyO, that's terrible news about your friend. I'm dealing a bit with a friend crisis here as well today with Dylan, who stayed in today because all these nights of coming in between 2:45 and 5:30 am has him tired! I am doing my damndest to avoid a fight today.
Some days, life just plain sucks.
-
Furthermore, I have no idea what BoreDetector is talking about. ;D :P
I will only say to BoreDetector - this isn't myspace.com, baby. We're not little children here.
-
I am quite behind in things, so I must go pick up the Kevin Spirtas VHS right now, then try to jog when I get back.
-
RLP, I just added TEN LITTLE INDIANS to my Netflix queue. I have been wanting to see it ever since it was released...I have only a vague recollection of the film from when I saw it on tv when I was a kid....however, I have to admit that the groovy mod 60s music sounds kind of fun! We shall see.
Vibes for Dylan! LOL!
LOL. I actually thought of you and JRand while watching it.
You for Hugh O'Brian and JRand for Shirley Eaton...how on earth Ms. Eaton eluded JRand's most-loved list is beyond me.
It's also so weird seeing this beautifully photographed, well-produced and very nicely acted film being scored so inappropriately.
I suppose it could be a hoot under other circumstances.
Friendship songs:
"Good Friends" from "Applause"
"You and Me" from "Victor, Victoria"
Carole King's "You've Got A Friend"...in many versions.
MBarnum you really should see AMOS AND ANDY.
Penny- sorry about your friend. I hope all will be well. Jose, such a thoughtful offer of delivery.
Jennifer-wish you had a photo of the bird on your head. ;D
Just catching up on today's posts and I'm sorry to see that folks are having such a rough time. And I know that I missed some other mishaps that happened over the weekend, I just haven't had a chance to catch up yet. Vibes to all who can use them.
-
Rodzinski and I had lunch with my brother and his family earlier this afternoon and they are now on their way to the airport. I had a great visit with them and I hope that I can find an opportunity to see them again soon instead of in 2-3 years as has been the norm.
-
It's always nice to be around family members who do not make me feel like I am about to go insane. Yay for nice family.
-
BK, knowing something of the situation,my advice echoes Larry's and others'. Don't send the email. I'm not much for absolutes and ultimatiums. Just let things take their natural course, if there is no longer a friendship there, it will sort itself out and dwindle away. Why forcibly close the door?
We both know the current distractions of the person involved and I expect that person is clinging to certain things and people that they believe will provide solutions to their perceived problems. They probably won't and this too will pass and lessons will be learned. But even if said things and people do provide solutions to those problems or some of them, I see no reason why that should preclude friendship with you...and this problematic friend will either learn this and grow up and invest the emotion and attention that are required of a friend or they won't and you will be well free of it.
Your email is about your pain. I think there are better ways of telling a friend they've hurt you and taken you for granted than depriving them of your friendship. If they don't get it; then the friendship's already over and you don't have to make a big display of cutting it off.
"might of"
I believe my Dear Friend meant "might have." I've seen worse grammar and spelling on this board and others, DR Boremeconstantly. How kind of you to point out the error. No doubt you have similar calls to make around the neighborhood, so move your ass.
-
Vibes for Dylan! LOL!
Trust me, he needs them right now!
-
Trust me, he needs them right now!
Poor Dylan. Bad enough to have to sleep on the fire escape without having to cram himself into the doghouse as well! ;D
-
Alert the media. Start spreadin' the news. Tell your friends - Deceit, the DVD is now available for preorder at www.kritzerland.com!
I just bought my copy! ;D
-
MBarnum you really should see AMOS AND ANDY.
I am going to get a few DVDs of it (actually you can get the entire run of the show from Ebay!) as there are a couple of kid actors in the series that I would love to interview.
-
Ya Vixmom, that doghouse is one frosty place! Brrrrrrrrr! ;)
-
BK, listen to Charles Pogue, he is also a very smart man!! And he said it perfectly.
-
And with that said, how about a giant Tito Guizar dance!
Isn't he cute!
(http://209.196.134.203/guizar.jpg)
-
I hope that wasn't too gigantic....but think of how happy he made Miss Lee.
-
Tito, for those who are unfamiliar, starred in THE GAY RANCHERO and BLONDIE GOES LATIN.
-
Bruce, I’m relieved to see you aren’t sending the email for all the reasons previously stated.
You, and most of us, have had the dynamics of close relationships change many times over the years. Often it is traumatic yet time heals the wounds. Declaring the friendship is over won’t really put a stop to the emotional pain you have been dealing and you might have regrets later. Just let things change naturally over time.
-
Yes, I'm probably going to take everyone's advice - but I'm beginning to think that if the person hasn't personally paid the site a visit then maybe a friend of the person has. Who knows? I'll just forget about everything now and move right along.
-
Good vibes for Dylan and DR elmore.
-
Yeah, my crystal ball indicates that he must have meant "must have" since he swiftly changed it to that.
Crystal? Buster, you've got balls of brass.
-
Yes, I'm probably going to take everyone's advice - but I'm beginning to think that if the person hasn't personally paid the site a visit then maybe a friend of the person has. Who knows? I'll just forget about everything now and move right along.
Sounds like a Topic of the Day song cue!
Movin' right along in search of good times and good news,
With good friends, you can't lose,
This could become a habit.
Opportunity knocked once, let's reach out and grab it,
Together we'll nab it.
Ya! We'll hitch-hike, bus, or yellow cab it.
Movin' right along
Foot-loose and fancy free.
Gettin' there is half the fun; come share it with me.
Movin' right along!
We'll learn to share the load.
We don't need a map to keep this show on the road....
-
I just bought my copy! ;D
I hope by the time i can order I can still get within the 100.. I would like an autographed copy.
-
Back from a lovely afternoon of reading outside and watching DVDs inside. Couldn't be a more beautiful, quiet day here. Alas that several DRs are having to cope with distractions and annoyances in their lives. I hope things will work themselves out soon for everyone who is need of some contentment.
-
Au revoir, BoreDetector. I believe it is you have some sort of resentment, and a bug up their ass about me. Well, as we like to say around these here parts, you can KISS MY ASS and bloviate this. Most people know I write the notes late in the evening and yes, shame on me, typos and mistakes of grammar do get through. Mercy me. And I'm sure you know all about the third grade, since you're behaving like someone who resides there.
-
My video viewing began with the WILL & GRACE finale episode. I have to admit, I did find a little more humor and a little more sentiment the second time around. Having a few weeks to digest what I had seen the night it first aired gave me some perspective on it. Still don't think it came anywhere near the brilliance of the series' early years, but it wasn't a total disaster for a final episode. I'll watch it again some day.
-
Yeah, my crystal ball indicates that he must have meant "must have" since he swiftly changed it to that. I just find it amusing that a professional writer who is constantly making arrogant, baggagey pronouncements about the current state of writing employed a common third grader error (as opposed to a typo) while publically bloviating about his terrible private friendship in a public forum. And, let me get this straight, we're not little children here? Oh, okay. La.
Is this for real? Someone please tell me that this is some weird pseudo april fools joke in honor of today's date.
-
Then I put in STARDUST: The Bette Davis Story and watched it again (after seeing it on TCM during its premiere night.) It is very enjoyable and a nice overview of her career and personal life. That daughter B.D. was/is a piece of work!
-
Is this for real? Someone please tell me that this is some weird pseudo april fools joke in honor of today's date.
I was sort of hoping it was, too, but I fear it was all too real. :P
-
I am in no mood to go to work tonight. It is overcast and chilly outside, so I would much prefer to crawl into bed with the cats and order movies on cable.
-
Then, I put in THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER and first watched the making-of documentary on the disc. Nothing out of the ordinary there, but I liked it OK.
-
I think it was someone who's written me before privately, since the word "arrogant" was prominent in that e-mail and is prominent here. I have banned him from the discussion board, so he can go back to reading the notes every day - makes you wonder, doesn't it? Why anyone would read this site who so clearly has a bug up their butt. We'll see if he tries to get on under another name, but I can ban as fast as he can register - although, I think he'd have problems doing it from the same computer.
-
Then, I watched the first hour of THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER. It's a beautiful DVD transfer and looks ten thousand times better than the laserdisc. I can now ditch the DVD-R copy I made to tide me over. Actually, I woould never have thought this would see the light of DVD day before some of Bette's other films. Of course, I'm glad it did. It's one of my all-time favorite comedies.
-
Go with the bed/cats/movies choice TPunk!
-
Don't feed the animals.
-
DR MBarnum, I think you will like AMOS & ANDY. I haven't seen them in decades, but I have fond memories of watching them growing up and always found them funny. I've never seen THE BEULAH SHOW.
-
I just bought DECEIT!!!!
-
DR RLP - I am familiar with Shirley Eaton....oh yes, I am!!!!
"What this country needs is a good five cent Guizar." Bob Hope, 1935.
-
But NOT the movie CATS, DR TPUNK!!
-
Off to rehearsal #2!
-
Hello all. BK, glad you are taking everyone's advice. I agree with them all. I've sent those emails before and have regretted them. I have never regretted not saying things, even if they were honest and reflected how my feelings were hurt.
-
One of my favorite friend songs is "Old Friend" from I'M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER AND TAKING IT ON THE ROAD
-
And then there's "Friends" that Bett Midler recorded
And I am all alone.
There is no one here beside me.
And my problems have all gone.
There is no one to deride me.
But you got to have friends.
The feeling's oh so strong.
You got to have friends
to make that day last long.
I had some firends but they're gone,
somethin' came and took them away.
And from the dusk 'til the dawn
here is where I'll stay.
Standing at the end of the road, boys,
waiting for my new friends to come.
I don't care if I'm hungry or cold,
I'm gonna get me some of them.
'Cause you got to have friends.
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, friends.
That's right you, oh you, yeah you,
I said you gotta have some friends,
I'm talkin' about friends, that's right, friends.
Friends, friends, friends.
I had some firends, oh, but they're all gone, gone,
someone came and snatched them away.
And from the dusk until the very dawn, you know,
here is where I gotta stay, here is where I gotta stay.
And I'm standing at the end of a real long road
and I'm waiting for my new friends to come.
I don't care if I'm hungry or freezin' cold,
I'm gonna get me some of them.
'Cause you gotta have friends,
that's right, friends, friends.
I gotta me my, I gotta me my, I gotta me my,
look around and see all of my friends.
Oh, friends, that's right, friends, friends,
friends, friends, friends, friends, oh,
friends, you gotta have friends . . .
-
There's also "Old Friends" by Simon and Garfunkel
-
I think the score for TEN LITTLE INDIANS is cheesy, but I think they were trying to make the movie seem more "hip" to the times. I mean, they cast two gorgeous women in roles than didn't really require that kind of voluptuousness (Judith Anderson was Emily Brent in the 1945 version), and they also had Fabian as a hipster (instead of a Russian playboy) and Hugh O'Brien as the studly lead - much more moddish than the staid Agatha Christie play on which it was based.
-
Has everyone in a state that has a primary election voted today?
-
I have to agree with TPunk, it's a weird day... all around, really. It's a "crawl into bed and cover your face with the covers and wait out to the next day" type feeling. Maybe we need a live chat??
-
And with that said, how about a giant Tito Guizar dance!
Isn't he cute!
...And Michael, he knew your drag name!
[/b]
-
...And Michael, he knew your drag name!
[/b]
LOL! Thanks, Tom....I was gonna express disappointment that it "wasn't" his drag name....
:D
-
Has everyone in a state that has a primary election voted today?
At 07:09 PST this morning!
Old Friend (Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford -I'M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER AND TAKING IT ON THE ROAD)
Everytime I've lost another lover,
I call up my old friend
And I say "let's get together,
I'm under the weather,
Another love has come to an end"
And he listens as I tell him my sad story
And wonders at my taste in men,
And we ponder why I do it,
And the pain of getting through it
and he laughs and says "You'll do it again"
And we sit in a bar and talk til two
about life and love, as old friends do
and tell each other what we've been through
how love is rare, life is strange
nothing lasts, people change
And I ask him if his life is ever lonely
and if he ever feels dispair
and he says he's learned to love it
cause it's really all part of it
and it helps him feel the good times when they're there.
Yes we sit in a bar and talk til two
about life and love, as old friends do
and tell each other what we've been through
how love is rare, life is strange
nothing lasts, people change
And we wonder if I'll live with any lovers,
or spend my life alone.
And the bartender is dozing
And it's getting time for closing
So we figure that I'll go it on my own
But we'll meet the year we're sixty two
and travel the world, as old friends do
and tell each other what we've been through
How love is rare and life is strange
Nothing lasts and people change.
I thought my drag name was Miss Information!
Possibly. Or Miss Conduct!
-
The New York primaries are in September (aren't they?)
Cillaliz I am glad to hear that you sold you old house and gladder still that the strange encounter was nothing worse than strange.
-
Thanks Vixmom - there are 8 states with primaries today Alabama, California, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, New Jersey and South Dakota.
-
Why would anyone take the trouble to sign into HHW, just to be a jerk? Well, I mean, besides myself?
Just gotta love trolls! In norwegian legends they were not the nicest creatures.... Some were
And yours, TCB?
That is quite the picture Cilla!!
bk, a number of Matt fans are VERY, VERY impressed with the DVD cover.. I have ordered mine!!
DR Stephanie, who saw the play three times, has ordered one and is looking forward to seeing you in the role of Jeffrey.
-
Heading down now for the usual household chores and then the remainder of THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER. At its conclusion, I think I'll watch GIVE A GIRL A BREAK. I was just reading about its tumultuous production in the Stanley Donen biography today.
-
I've just read today's notes and only read a few posts so far. IMHO go with the advice of DR Elmore. Friendships can survive many years of ups and downs and lack of reciprocity of needs. If they are to truly die they don't need a formal end. Using email or worse a text message is not an option - you can't just delete them later!
TOTD:
I just realized that I have a Kevin Spirtas DVD. It is called GREEN PLAID SHIRT. Maybe I will watch it this weekend.
I didn't realize tha Kevin was in it.
And you will see all of Kevin in it.
I ordered Deceit also.. I am looking forward to it..
We've had over twenty-five orders since around eleven - so, only seventy-five more signed copies available. Tell your friends and neighbors.
Are they going to be numbered like some of your books were?
-
Amended to thirty-one orders. Tell your friends and neighbors. I don't think we'll number them - we'll just be honest.
I hope this works:
I went to the appliance store and made a settlement with the salesman. I was nice.
On the way home, I got my hair cut very very short.
Good Evening!
Let's see... I went to the bank. I went to James' office. We all went to Macy's. We had lunch. I bought a coffee grinder - it was on sale. I bought some movie tickets for later in the week. I bought some stuff at Whole Foods. And that's been about it for me today so far.
:)
-
On the way home, I got my hair cut very very short.
Pictures! We need pictures!
-
Tuesday evening greetings! Work was crazy today and I left, as scheduled, at 4pm to have my eyes examined. My vision is still blurry from the drops, but the good news is that my eyes are healthy, my prescription has not changed, and I'm getting a very cool new pair of prescription sunglasses 8)
-
My last two lessons didn't show today. No calls, email, etc... I hope they are fine.
-
I went to the appliance store and made a settlement with the salesman. I was nice.
Does this mean you are keeping what was delivered?
neat... where did you get those letters?
-
I went to the appliance store and made a settlement with the salesman. I was nice.
Sometimes Fastrada's advice of "Put down the vinegar, pick up the honey jar, you'll catch many more flies" (PIPPIN reference) works with salesmen too
-
I have to say, I am very anxious to see A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION, THE MOVIE - or whatever they are calling it. I got the soundtrack and it is very fun. It will be here on Friday - so that's when I will see it
-
The pose of Matt on the cover reminds me of the attached picture...
-
Rodzinski here. Sorry for the E&T behavior. The Punk and I were out of town, as noted. In the wilds of Pennsylvania. We stayed at a "resort" where we had been told to request the "new wing." I'm glad we did, because the "new" wing was probably last new in 1980. My pal who went with the old wing ended up in a room that was a real fright. But it was all about hanging out at my friends' house anyway, and I did avail myself of the horseshoes and racquetball at the resort.
-
The pose of Matt on the cover reminds me of the attached picture...
I think it's the exact same picture.
-
You pick a letter style, type in your message and it gives you the html code to add the word or phrase to a website that you're creating. You can't right-click and download the images, so I looked in the code and copied the actual letter file URLs and was able to link them manually. Sneaky, ain't I?? ;D
-
Then yesterday night, I went to a "Monologue Slam," a monologue competition featuring our friend, Carrot-Stick Girl. She had won three months in a row, so we went to support her. Alas, she took a chance and did something a little more serious and came in third. A talented gal though.
We are drawing the same conclusion...
They were very impressed with the cover... One gal who ordered is hoping her DVD player will play it.
Gads! Catching up, and it seems madness abounds! I see we were visited by an internet Troll today. Good riddance, clown.
Neat, I have bookmarked it. It is similar then to glittermaker.com. You can make glitter banners there...
BK-
The advice has been sound. I understand the need to be in control of the finality. Sometimes that's all you have with a fairweather friend. But in reality, you still control it, even if you never say it explicitly. Withdraw your feelings in a full retreat, but you need not come out and say it. That way, should this person ever change or mature, the door is open.
-
Neat, I have bookmarked it. It is similar then to glittermaker.com. You can make glitter banners there...
This is much better! You can download the whole banner as one image!
-
Today, I ended a relationship. I resigned my position with a theatre board I had been on for years. It was a little difficult because there are nice people there, but, in the end, I needed to make a break. I don't have the time anymore to deal with the political struggles brewing within this group.
-
Very sorry to hear about your friend PennyO.
-
While in Pennsylvania, I found a series of paperbacks that are quite interesting. Anyone familiar wihth Richard Lamparski's "Whatever Became Of..." series? These would be VH1 or ET specials nowadays, but they are fun because many of the people discussed are entirely unknown now. So they are an interesting perspective on history. Learning what people who were famous in the 1920s were doing in the late '60s. I now have four volumes of these, each with over 100 bios.
-
Losing a wallet is my worst nightmare as well. As Jose can attest. When we went up to see him last summer in Massachusetts, we finish watching his show, and I realize I don't have my wallet. I am freaking out, looking under the seats, near where I parked the car, etc. We go back to our little hotel, and my wallet is sitting on the bed. How I left the hotel and watched a whole show without noticing it was missing I don't know. As it turned out, I was glad I didn't notice sooner. It would have wrecked the show for me to be worried about my wallet! I probably would have had to leave.
-
I love those books, DR RODZINSKI!!
-
DRs DANISE and LAURA have chopped their locks....yes we must have photographic evidence!!!
-
How can you change the world when you can't find your wallet?
I love those books, DR RODZINSKI!!
Jam-packed with info!
I found a Zen Garden today at the Dollar Tree for - yes, one dollar.
That is where I found out about Miss Gogi Grant and Miss Molly Bee and all those other BIG Ceeee-Lebs!
Time for dinner....good rehearsal....
Should I email Kritzerland and ask where my DECEIT dvd is. I ordered it nearly six hours ago.
Not requesting health vibes. Save them for more important things, but I do want to mention that I have a cold. Bleah!
The PEANUTS reruns in the paper are up to the point where Sally is born. Today Charlie Brown reveals to Violet he bought a onesie for his little sister. When he shows it, of course it has the black zig-zag stripe on it. That cracked me up.
George, glad you got the goods!
-
George, glad you got the goods!
THANK YOU AGAIN!! :-*
I listened to a couple of them yesterday (both very good) and one today (not so much ::)). I was going to start a second today, but now I must leave work and go home. Later!
I can't believe that no one has mentioned one of the best friends song of all:
If you're ever in a jam, here I am
If you're ever in a mess, S-O-S
If you ever feel so happy, you land in jail; I'm your bail.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgot,
Ours will still be hot.
Lah-dle-ah-dle-ah-dle dig, dig, dig.
If you're ever up a tree, phone to me.
If you're ever down a well, ring my bell.
If you ever lose your teeth, and you're out to dine, borrow mine.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgate,
Ours will still be great.
Lah-dle-ah-dle-ah-dle, chuck, chuck, chuck.
If they ever black your eyes, put me wise.
If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
If they ever put a bullet through your brain, I'll complain.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgit,
Ours will still be it.
Lah-dle-ah-dle-ah-dle, hep, hep, hep.
-
And if you're mad at a friend, you can sing:
I don't want to play in your yard,
I don't like you anymore.
You'll be sorry when you see me
Sliding down our cellar door.
You can't holler down our rain barrel,
You can't climb our apple tree,
I don't wanna play in your yard,
If you can't be good to me.
I almost forgot to post this but seeing Rodzinski reminded me... over the weekend I was behind a car on the LIE with a vanity plate that read:
I was just surfing around and discovered that there will be a live telecast of the Tony Awards at this site http://www.tonyawards.com
this link gives you the info about it http://www.tonyawards.com/en_US/tonynight/index.html
It says on the West Coast the tv show will be taped and presented in primetime, but if you want to watch it live you can watch on the web
Glorious food.................
Oh Gees, I've been watching HGTV and totally missed that the news is on. I need to see election returns....laters
-
DakotaCelt, not sure why your friend would be worried whether the DVD will play in her player - it's a real DVD.
The PEANUTS reruns in the paper are up to the point where Sally is born. Today Charlie Brown reveals to Violet he bought a onesie for his little sister. When he shows it, of course it has the black zig-zag stripe on it. That cracked me up.
Cracked me up, too, though I must admit that the strip often makes me lose it in the mornings when I get to it. Still my favorite even though these are "repeats." When you've got decades of them to repeat, I tend to forget them and they seem new to me.
-
I finished THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER. Made me laugh (especially Reginald Gardiner) and continued to be mightily impressed with the transfer. I've never seen the film look this good.
-
Pictures! We need pictures!
Okay. Here's the dust storm we had tonight:
-
Then, I put in GIVE A GIRL A BREAK (on laserdisc), but I only got about an hour in, up through the Bob Fosse/Debbie Reynolds number that's partially filmed backwards.
-
BTW, the three laserdisc movies I won today were ROSE MARIE (the 1954 Cinemascope version that Lucy and Ricky go to see when they're in Hollywood), NANCY GOES TO RIO and LUXURY LINER (a Jane Powell double feature in one laserdisc set).
Cilliliz your 'strange guy inthe truck" story reminded me of an incident when I was in my early 20's... A friend and I had met at a local bar and hung out for the evening, when we were ready to go we left in our separate cars .
I noticed that a guy left the bar right as we did and he was going the same way I was, turn for turn.... I got very nervous and did something very stupid, instead of heading for the local police precinct or 7-11 and sitting in the driveway blasting my horn I starting making turns willy nilly and the car followed me turn for turn until I was lost in a strange neighborhood well off the beaten track, the car following me turn for turn.
The last turn brought me into a dead end street. Scared to death, at this point, I turned into the driveway of the last house on the block. Well Someone was looking out for me, because there were two guys sitting on the front porch drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. I jumped out of my car ran up to the two guys and said, "That guy is following me, please help me"
and they did.
One guy stayed with me on the porch and the other walked up to the street wheer the other car was attempting to make a three point turn to get out of the dead end.
He "thanked" the guy inthe car for making sure his "sister" got home alright and then after the car seemed well out of sight they offered to follow me to the nearest highway to make sure the guy was really gone.
Which they did.
Whew! I hadn' t thought of that in years Cillaliz it had to be 25 years ago.... but sometimes its scary being a woman alone!
-
Watched LESS THAN PERFECT tonight. Sweet little comedy show I'm really going to miss once they're run through the remaining episodes.
-
DakotaCelt, not sure why your friend would be worried whether the DVD will play in her player - it's a real DVD.
maybe its not a real player ;D
-
And here are the appliances:
-
RESCUE ME featured the first of three guest star appearances by Susan Sarandon tonight. She was only in one scene tonight laying the groundwork for a liaison with Daniel Sunjata's character. Her come-on to him was very reminiscent of her work in BULL DURHAM.
The plot's moving right along with other threads. RESCUE ME is not a show that drags its feet with its stories.
-
I read in TV GUIDE tonight that THE CLOSER's new season starts next week.
However, it will be on Monday night at 9 p.m. this season (maybe that's when it played first-run last season, but the reruns were on Tuesdays at 10. I like this Monday time period better since it won't conflict with anything else I watch.)
-
Earlier, before I banned his sorry butt cheeks, BoreDetector made note of (and not in a nice way) the fact that I put personal stuff in my notes for all to see. Well, I'm glad I did, because I received such wise advice here from our many hainsies/kimlets, advice I have heeded, and am glad to have done so. As I think back to November of 2001 and the debut of this here site, I have always been honest in my writings - yes, I try to be funny and light most of the time, but I also say it like it is because that is who I am, for better or worse.
I wish Pogue was around so we could go to Bird's right now.
-
DRLaura, nice appliances!!! The cooktop looks so smooth and black and beautiful!
-
I almost forgot to post this but seeing Rodzinski reminded me... over the weekend I was behind a car on the LIE with a vanity plate that read:
RDZNSK1
I hope I was driving safely.
I was wondering who that little girl behind the wheel was!! LOL
-
DakotaCelt, not sure why your friend would be worried whether the DVD will play in her player - it's a real DVD.
British....
-
Here is what I have eaten thus far (and remember - I had a very brisk jog, doing the extra blocks): Sushi - cucumber roll, and shrimp. A small container of low-fat cottage cheese. Some pineapple. That's not much, right? I could eat something else, right?
-
Go for it, that's not much.
-
British....
See?! I knew it wasn't a real player!
I hope Vixdad doesn't see that - I'll be in a for a hour of "back in the old country...." ;D
-
Well, it won't play in her player unless she has an all-region player which converts NTSC to PAL. They're very inexpensive.
-
But what - what shall I eat? If Pogue were here, we'd be at Bird's stuffing our collective faces.
-
But what - what shall I eat? If Pogue were here, we'd be at Bird's stuffing our collective faces.
What's in the fridge?
-
Do you have a banana?
-
Or jello?
-
Strawberries are nice
-
Blueberries are good for you
-
Rodzinski - I know this is hypothetical, but do you get the sense that if your actress friend knew how much the carrot-chomping was bothering DR Jason, she might have stopped doing it?
-
Nothing in the house but eggs.
-
We've got us fifteen count them fifteen people on this here board.
-
Not to mention six GUESTS, one of whom is probably BoreDetector. I feel that soon we will be the most popular site on all the Internet. Now, what shall I eat?
-
Can't and won't do Gelson's - every time I get something tiny from their deli, it's fifteen bucks.
-
Salad might be fun, but from where?
-
Of course, I use way too much dressing, so salad is probably out. I could get a burger somewhere, I suppose?
-
I wish the CPK spinach artichoke dip wasn't so damnably fattening.
-
While in Pennsylvania, I found a series of paperbacks that are quite interesting. Anyone familiar wihth Richard Lamparski's "Whatever Became Of..." series? These would be VH1 or ET specials nowadays, but they are fun because many of the people discussed are entirely unknown now. So they are an interesting perspective on history. Learning what people who were famous in the 1920s were doing in the late '60s. I now have four volumes of these, each with over 100 bios.
Oh, gosh yes I LOVED those books and would eagerly await the next one each time it was released...this was when I was a kid/teen.
I have them all now! Lot's of silent film actors were still around when Lamparski was putting out those books back in the 70s and early 80s.
-
WE did a TV parody called SALAD in school. (It was a play on DALLAS.) A group of wealthy Texans went digging for oil - and vinegar.
-
Floop!
-
Hope I didn't make this photo too small. This is friend Paul with his green hair. It's faded. It started out the color of his shirt
-
Interesting question. Knowing Carrot Girl as I do now, I believe she is a nice person. I think she would have quit chomping. But it is hard to ask somebody to quit something like that. People get offended.
-
Sandra checks in with a "floop!"
-
MBarnum, TPunk is telling all her friends about MY BROTHER NIKHIL.
Very good! I am pleased that she liked it!!!!
You should be a good guy and buy her the soundtrack over in Little India....and buy yourself that Kurta.
-
Hey, I got kicked out. Was that SALLAD joke that bad?
-
Sandra the graduate is back!!!!! How is your class free life going Sandra?
-
Floop!
I just thought that that needed to be said.
-
MBarnum, how many volumes are there? In the first two volumes, the type is miniature. I just realized one of my "volumes" is actually the "Giant 2nd Annual." Al Lewis is on the cover of that one. It is from 1977. He lived until last year. Ran for Governor of NY as the Green Party candidate.
-
Love Paul's hair!!
-
Coming next on Skip's Netflix queue is a movie called LAGAAN which he thinks I'd like. Is that Bollywood by any chnace?
Maybe Paul should be running for something as the Green Party Canidiate!
AS the graduate said: Whatever happened to class?
There was that country song: "How do you spell green? I-N-V-U"
-
Vixdad has just pointed out that "It's gone midnight!"
-
If Sandra were here she could make me floop.
Wow, what a crazy story. I'm glad those guys were there to help you out.
Should I go to In and Out?
-
If Sandra were here she could make me floop.
Paging TCB!
-
I'm heading for bed now.
Have a very pleasant rest of the evening, everyone!
-
But I'd have to have two hamburgers, not one. Maybe I'll just go to the market and see if anything catches my eye - I could always do a lean cuisine pizza, which I like very much. Or, some salad with low-fat dressing (although the calories, even in low-fat dressing, are sometimes shockingly large).
-
Wow, what a crazy story. I'm glad those guys were there to help you out.
Of course if it had been a movie it would have turned out that that was HIS house and they were his crazy henchmen and it all would have gone downhill from there!
-
Do you have any veges in the fridge? You could make a nice omelet
-
I was a bit worried that you had gone from the frying pan and into the fire. I'm glad it had a happy ending
-
Class-free life is absolutely flooptacular. I think I've almost forgotten everything from school. I've been very busy doing absolutely nothing.
Have you tried any of those Lean Cuisine Panni Sandwiches? Quite filling , all seem to have calorie counts under 300 and quite yummy too (for a microwaved sandwich)
-
Should I go to In and Out?
um, of course you should.
-
That sounds fabulous. Isn't it nice to do nothing and not have to feel guilty about the paper your are avoiding writing?
-
Good night all. Hasta manana.
Hasta manana TPunk, Buenos Suenos
What's that old saying? Somthing like "The Lord watches out for fools and children"
Well thank goodness He does because I did some damn fool things in my youth! ::) :P(None of which I will share with the Vixter until she is safely past the stupid stage, say about 50 or so!) ;)
-
IN AND OUCH - that's the name of my new screenplay about getting into a fraternity only to be subjected to painful hazing
Or maybe INN AND OUCH - a hotel for S&M addicts
-
The Oriental restaurant that used to be down the block would have fit right in, maybe that's where they moved to... do you have restaurant called Huang Lo ?
-
Hey, we East coasters made it through 6/6/06 without incident.
-
FJL, LAGAAN is indeed a Bollywood movie...I have never seen it but it is supposed to be good...I think it is about Cricket and I imagine there is much playing of the sport, along with some singing and dancing.
I don't know if it is the cricket or the dancing or something else that he thought you would like about it...hmmmm...
(http://www.uiowa.edu/~incinema/lagaan.jpg)
:D
-
Rodzinski, I am thinking that there were 11 WHATEVER BECAME OF...books. Mine are all boxed up someplace in the garage, but I do believe I have them all. The last one came out in 1989 or there abouts.
I once contacted Richard Lampaski to see if he would ever be putting more volumes out...he wrote back and said he would not...a few years later I decided to start doing the interviews of old time actors and actresses...to carry on the tradition!
-
Ok, that's enough for me tonight. I need to do some reading. I'm almost done with "The River of Doubt" It's a true story about Teddy Roosevelt going down a previously uncharted tributary of the Amazon after he lost the election in 1914. He was in great peril when I stopped reading...better get back to him... (good book, btw)
-
303 and page 11 and NOW I am really going to bed before the door is locked against me!!
-
See?! I knew it wasn't a real player!
I hope Vixdad doesn't see that - I'll be in a for a hour of "back in the old country...." ;D
