Well, you've read the notes, the notes were quite, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they'll be home just as soon as they use the word quite one hundred more times.
-
And the word of the day is: PICOTEE!
-
TOD
I thought of it on the sperm of the moment.
-
Good morning, all! Today's picotee is Earl Gray.
I had a pleasant evening reading Armond Fields' biography of Fred Stone, even though there are several big errors in it according to Stone's autobiography ROLLING STONE. I finished THE NANNY DIARIES two nights ago and I think I will begin a Ruth Rendell's NO NIGHT IS TOO LONG.
Today, I have trips to Toyland and NYPL, and I need to think about Christmas choral arrangements. "Tis the season.
-
Nothing to do with the TOTD:
We just finished watching UK film "DISTANT VOICES - STILL LIVES" (1988).
IMHO a wonderful example of what film can achieve when a vision is realised and supported with such craftsmanship. The movie was recommended to me by a very good friend in London. I was only able to locate a copy on video - from the U S of A.
-
Thursday morning greetings! It's cool and humid here today.
Thanks to DRs Vixmom, Cillaliz, and DakotaCelt for the travel vibes. My mom and I are looking forward to this little trip.
TOD - One of my college jobs, in which I only lasted a week, was working in a local bakery. Angie, who had been there forever, liked to sell Barbarian Creme doughnuts.
-
Good morning DR Ginny. And Goodnight.
I shall not be partaking of DR Elmore's Earl Gray - close to my least favourite of teas.
-
LOL DR Ginny.
A common one here is "all goes well' instead of "augurs well".
Casting nasturiums is almost accepted these days as being an appropriate (a BK reference) saying!
-
Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. The day after a storm is always cool and humid. Today it is a nippy 81F at 5 a.m., so I am going for a nice walk to enjoy the cool weather.
-

LOL, DR DearReaderLaura - when my mom lived in Phoenix, she'd call here and complain about how "muggy" it was out there, "The humidity's up to 12%!"
-
OK, all, I'm about to disconnect my computer for the long weekend. Pardon my E&T-ness, should it occur.
Bye for now!
-
Safe travel Ginny!
-
On the TOD, I've always gotten a good chuckle out of our president's pronounciation of the word nuclear. Or as he has been known to say nucular. It's good to know that the man with his hand over the button cannot properly say what it is he controls.
-
Hi Ben.
-
I am off work today, but hope to get plenty done. I've got to head to the gym, do a load of laundry, hit the grocery store, and get some sewing done. Later tonight I'll head to the tmobile store to see about upgrading my phone, and then dinner with a good friend to celebrate our graduation.
-
Hi, T.
I saw that Edward Hibbert is scheduled to do Curtains in LA. Does that mean he's leaving Drowsy Chaperone???
Must return to the Bristol Myers Foundation.
-
I cannont comment on the godless whore that is Ann Coulter for it would be unprintable :o Remember, this is a "family site"
-
I've spent this morning cruising various job websites, looking for interesting job posting. And at the Jewish Board website I was that they had just reposted the job I'd been interviewing for. I'm guessing that it's gonna be a while before I hear back from them. :)
-
What kills me is that there are two jobs outside the agency I would love to submit my resume for- but if I were hired, I would chance having to pay back my stipend. Maybe I will go ahead and submit myself anyway.
-
BK, that is such wonderful, wonderful, wonderful (that is 3 wonderfuls) news about FLOWER DRUM SONG finally coming out! Yippee!
And in other wonderful DVD news...here is a nifty review of the new release of BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (one of my favorite movies) http://www.dvddrive-in.com/reviews/a-d/beyondthevalleydolls70.htm (http://www.dvddrive-in.com/reviews/a-d/beyondthevalleydolls70.htm) ....the niftiest part of this release is the multitude of extras...many of the cast members have been brought back for several different commentaries and interviews...I cannot believe how many extras are on this release!!
And I had always wondered what had become of Marcia McBroom...it seems she left Hollywood way back when and went to New York...so I am curious to know if any New Yorkers have ever seen her in anything?
-
Good morning!
It was overcast and cool when I got up around 8:30 this morning, but the sun is pepping out now, and it promises to heat up in a short amount of time. Showers predicted for this afternoon.
-
Yes, I'm thrilled with the news about FLOWER DRUM SONG. It can't come soon enough to satisfy me! I can finally pitch that letterboxed videotape taken from an AMC broadcast (before they started showing commercials) into the trash.
-
As for malaprops, I can't think of any special ones that have stuck in my mind, but for a show that uses them expertly, watch the MY NAME IS EARL marathon tonight on NBC. Earl's ex-wife Joy can't open her mouth without malaprops tumbling out in fine fashion.
-
I've been overdosing on musicals the last week or so, so today will be musical-free. As I mentioned last night, I'll try to get to Bette Davis' OLD ACQUAINTANCE today, but I have Paul Newman's HUD on tap first. Haven't seen it in a long time, so I'm looking forward to seeing this DVD. Hopefully Paramount did right by it.
-
Hiya -
It's cloudy again today. Sheesh. Two beautiful days of blue skies and sun, and then at least 2 and probably more days of drizzle and overcast and (oh, Penny, bitch and moan!) and grey. (Let's whine a little, why don't we?)
Anyhow - the job I sent in my (gi-normous) application for back at the beginning of April... I got a call that my interview is June 27. And I have an even-more gi-normous presentation to make, in ten minutes of the hour-long meeting. Said presentation is: you have a 5-show season, and $200K to do it with. Pick 5 Broadway--style musicals, relevant to the area demographic. Explain: Which shows and why; and how do you budget the money?
I have tentatively begun to work out a season... but I am woefully unaware of smaller shows... as in, without large singer/dancer choruses. Recent seasons included small shows like Forever Plaid. Company. Got some ideas??? Please help me with this research!!!
-
Ah - yes Flower Drum Song....such good news! I am going to like it here. And DRJOSE can refresh his memory on his audition song and brush up on the choreography!
-
Thanks for all the Vibes last night. I believe they worked. Now I am waitng for a phone call.
-
TOD: I resemble that remark
Let me just reguritate my point
-
BK, re: selling the DECEIT dvd.
I'm sure Days of Our Lives has some fan sites. And i'm sure many people there would buy the dvd. Also, once it comes out you should give it to Matt to take with him to promotional events.
-
DR PENNYO - Pippin is always fun. As for smaller shows:

Gracie Allen was the Queen of the TOD....I shall have to consider some of the things she said.
Although NOT a malaprop.....I was watching Damsel In Distress the other day. Gracie plays George's secretary.
She wandered in about noon and as she was taking off her hat, George said: "You should have been here two hours ago."
And Grace answered: "Why, what happened?"
George: "If you can't get here on time, I'm gonna have to get another girl."
Gracie: "Really? Do you think there'll be enough work for the both of us?"

JRand55, George and Gracie just made me laugh!
-
DR Jose, that is wonderful news, as well, about Brian D'Arcy James in SCOUNDRELS...if'n I get out your way I will be certain to see that play!!
-
I am now gonig to actually do some work (seeing as how I am at work) and listen to my new Tony Martin CD.
-
Thanks, Vixmom! That's quite a list! The three off the top of your head have all been done in recent seasons... but I never heard of several on the longer list! Off I go to peruse a few...

JRand - I think WORKING or 110 IN THE SHADE might fit - thanks for the suggestions.

I'm doing the driving to lunch today, so I must get up and head downstairs to clean up in preparation for that.

Add my production of Li'l Abner.

Have I not spoken about Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, which I got last week and watched?
-
We ended up having about ten orders yesterday. None waiting this morning, but the day is young which is more than I can say. DakotaCelt has posted to the fan sites, and yes, Matt just did a fan event and gave out hundreds of flyers. We only have about fifty signed copies left to reserve, so tell your friends, and perhaps DakotaCelt can post to some more Days' sites.
-
Good Morning!
Yes, it's still gray outside, and bit drizzly... But it's warm inside, the electricity is working and I can access HHW... Who could ask for anything more?
;)
-
I also ended up having a sort of "comfort breakfast". I had made a pot of brown rice earlier in the week - I always make more than I need so that I can have it later in the week - and decided to make some "breakfast fried rice", which is something my parents would regularly make on the weekends using the leftover rice from the night before.
So, I cooked up three slices of turkey bacon - very lean, very healthy. Then after they were crisped up, I set them aside and added a splash of olive oil to the pan, then added some of the leftover brown rice to the pan. -I was immediately "reminded" what happens when cold rice hits hot oil - love that sizzle and pop! After the rice was heated through, I cracked two eggs on top, then just tossed it all lightly until the eggs were cooked through. Some salt, some pepper... Very yummy, very comforting.
-And I made a pot of a Mexican varietal coffee... Very good too. I've never really been a regular coffee drinker, but I've been trying out various blends and roasts lately. Been a nice exploration.
-
As for malaprops...
Well... Though not really a true malaprop... Steve's mother could not remember what my ethnic background when she was talking with Steve... "Isn't Jose a Flapapino?"
;)
-
bk - Thanks for the news about "Flower Drum Song".

And although more along the lines of mis-pronunciation... I've heard the closing line from "Broadway Baby" sung the following way at auditions... Always makes me roll my eyes...
"Working for a nice man
Like a Ziegfeld
Or a WEEsman"
Arrrghhh!!!!

Maybe the producer was from France!

I have on my balcony a carnation pot in which I keep orange picotee.
Very refreshing.

I almost very nearly didn't want to get out of bed this morning.
But...the spirit was moved. Can't say why.
-
TOD:
At church each Sunday we celebrate the euthanist.
-
Add my production of Li'l Abner.
How many in the cast? Chorus? I'd love to do it... It's an AEA Guest Artist company, nice $$$ for directors...

That reminds me of a Chevy Chase mispronunciation at the Academy Awards many years ago.
He was reading from some list that included the names of producers, and one of them, as Chevy pronounced it was "Samuel Gold-Wine Junior".
That elicited several groans from the audience.
-
Small show ideas for Penny:
"I Do! I Do!"
"The Fantasticks"
-
Speaking of Chevy Chase, did everybody (but me) know that he was offered the lead in "American Beauty" before it went to Kevin Spacey?
-
Jose - what's next for you? Have you decided? Have you had offers? Inquirng minds want to know.
-
Hmm....
Just had a couple of "too many connections" and "socket" errors while trying to access the site...
-
No errors here - maybe there was a hiccup on the server.
Of course, if Jose wanted to be in LA at the end of the year, why, we might just have an offer for him.
-
Trying to get up the energy to jog at ten.
We actually had fifteen Deceit orders yesterday - now, if we can have that same number today that would be great.

Jose - what's next for you? Have you decided? Have you had offers? Inquirng minds want to know.
...Everything and everybody seems to be in the planning stages... And everyone seems to be taking their time right now with the whole process. Which is OK. I'm not in any real hurry right now. Yes, I would like to get something lined up - the sooner the better - but I am relishing the down time to get other things done.
-
I have a grand plan, too.
Only...the lottery commissions aren't cooperating.
-
We have gray overcast sky here today.
Outside, it's coolish.
Inside, it's muggyish.
I guess the humidity is up a bit....and the building's only processing "fresh" air right now...not HVAC.
Sigh.

You know, out of all the movies that have been discussed here, I cannot recall anyone ever discussing Jerry Lewis movies.
We've had some Jerry Lewis moments...some "Hey, LA-A-A-dy" kind of moments.
But...no mention I can recall of anyone having ordered any Jerry Lewis DVDs...or watched a Jerry Lewis movie...or....?
-
Yes, MR BK discussed BEYOND the VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (this is NOT a sequel, there has never been anything like it) last week.
Hmmm....I like THE LADIES MAN and THE NUTTY PROFESSOR.....
-

Hmm... I think I recall mentioning Jerry Lewis' "Geisha Boy" at one time or another, many moons ago...
-Although, since he is planning on directing a musical version of "The Nutty Professor" on Broadway in 2008... I guess we could talk about that if it ever comes to fruition.
-
-I would always seem to catch "Geisha Boy" whenever it was being shown on Channel 20, WDCA, in Washington, DC. They would show it a lot - usually as part of a Jerry Lewis "festival" or part of a comedy block of movies on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Hmm.. I haven't seen it in years... Hmm..

How exciting, PennyO! Where would this theater be located? California, Washington, or other?
One little show that is always a crowd pleaser (or pleasurer as I originally wrote it): I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE.

I cannot recall "Geisha Boy" ever being a TV offering anywhere I've lived. I have the soundtrack recording, though.
I've seen "Cinderfella" once and thought it quite fun. I have seen most of the Martin-Lewis films, as well...and loved 'em as I recall.
The Lewis films of the early 60s are the ones I'm least familiar with.
-
Speaking of Chevy Chase, did everybody (but me) know that he was offered the lead in "American Beauty" before it went to Kevin Spacey?
Hmmm, Chevy in the shower scene..............
-
GEISHA BOY is my favorite Jerry Lewis movie...it was on tv a lot when I was a kid. Nobu Atsumi McCarthy was so pretty and Suzanne Pleshette looked so nice in her Airline Hostess uniform.
Oh, and that bunny! LOL!

I remember THE GEISHA BOY - but I think I've only seen parts of it. I like Jerry Lewis when he is funny, but when he is maudlin or sappy.....well, it ain't working for me.

TOD: Didn't Archie Bunker once explain that he couldn't be a witness because he was standing a certain way, and it ended with him saying "Position is nine-tenths of the law." I've always liked that one.

Is that the Chevy that Sheldon's got?
:)
-
Damn them! Damn them all to Hell!
If this offer had come in two days ago, I would have said that I was being tempted by the anti-Christ. However, I am being wooed (or woohooed) to play The Baker in THE BAKER'S WIFE in August.
-
Speaking of malapropisms, didn't Mrs. Malaprop say "My infection for you grows with each passing day" - or something like that?

Favorite Emily Litella manglings:
her opposition to busting schoolchildren
her diatribe about presidential erections

I was in Indianapolis when I saw it, so they probably made it a "saxless" broadcast.

;D
-
But isn't it nice to be wanted?!
Yes, that's true. The real problem is that, although I love the role (roll) of The Baker, I don't think I have ever been in another show where the audience HATED the ending of the show. Not the cast or the prodcution, but the show.
Well, possibly SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION, but half of the audience was gone before the end of the show, so I don't think that counts.

What? The noive!
-
Speaking of malapropisms, didn't Mrs. Malaprop say "My infection for you grows with each passing day" - or something like that?
She does leave Lydia weeping like an allegory on the banks of the Nile.
In the musical version of THE RIVALS, Mrs Malaprop sings:
Each female creature whom I teach
Develops delicate dainty shapely speech
And a verbal charm as lurid as you've ever known
For a more than ordinary glorious vocabulary
Is a very very necessary thing to own
Her dative case deserves your praise
And the seductive mood she well displays
For men are never contraceptive to a well-turned phrase
So when with a gentleman the little dear is quite alone
She works her little lexicon right to the bone
Men stare but she's quite unaware
As she chooses her words with scrofulous care
Each female creature whom I teach
Develops delicate dainty shapely speech
And a skill to be illicit when she's grown full-blown
For a more than ordinary glorious vocabulary is a very necessary thing to own
-
Here's a selection of George W. Bushi malapropisms:
"Oftentimes, we live in a processed world, you know, people focus on the process and not results."
"The law I sign today directs new funds... to the task of collecting vital intelligence... on weapons of mass production."
"It will take time to restore chaos and order."
"They have miscalculated me as a leader."
"Natural gas is hemispheric... because it is a product that we can find in our neighborhoods."
"I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well."
"We need an energy bill that encourages consumption."
"We cannot let terrorists and rogue nations hold this nation hostile or hold our allies hostile."
-
You know, out of all the movies that have been discussed here, I cannot recall anyone ever discussing Jerry Lewis movies.
I always liked SCARED STIFF, which may have been the first Martin & Lewis movie I saw as a child, and ARTISTS AND MODELS, although I haven't seen either in nearly 50 years.

He sounds just like Tony Bennett!

Penny, here are three that I've seen that aren't on Vixmom's list:
Das Barbecü!! BK recorded the show and I saw a production in Seattle that was directed and choreographed by the original choreographer.
Angry Housewives!! I've seen two different productions and both were just fabulous! This has characters and situations that a LOT of women can identify with. ;)
Urinetown...if a musical about peeing doesn't bother anyone. I just saw it last week and thought it was wonderful.

Oh my - I second ANGRY HOUSEWIVES for DRPENNYO's consideration. Except that the music books we got were a MESS and there weren't vocal books for the cast....maybe Samuel French has fixed that by now.
-
I am still considering it, DRMBARNUM.....it LOOKS nice. But Tony Bennett isn't my favorite singer.
DRJOSE - did your ancestors come from the Flappapines?
-
THE GEISHA BOY, yeah that was on TV a lot in Chicagoland. "Mr. Willy, Mr. Willy!"
Also THE FAMILY JEWELS. Jerry plays like 7 guys in that one, only a couple of which are funny.
THE NUTTY PROFESSOR though, that's the high-water mark. Budddy Love kills me. When he gets the school president up on the table reciting Shakespeare in his underwear, that's good stuff.
-
A hundred million miracles! FLOWER DRUM SONG on DVD.
-
My favorite is in one of the East Side Kids movies. Muggs says, "It's an optical delusion!"
-

Just the gay ones!

Ann Coulter has varicose brains.

No problem, you should expect it in 3-5 business days.
Damn!

Off to NOT sell tickets to The Sound of Music.

My short list of shows for DR PennyO:
Lucky Stiff
Pete 'n Keeley
How the Other Half Loves (comedy)

The Promenade Theatre (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/100159.html) an Off-Broadway house in New York City (it's on the Upper West Side at 76th Street) is closing down for good.
Here is a second article about the space.

Oh I don't thnk we needed the vocal books out here. The original production ran for about fifty years here in Seattle, so we all knew the words........... So, Eat your F##kin Corn Flakes.
-
We have to seel 500 DVDs to break even - I need to figure out how to get them in specialty shops like Amoeba - Footlight will carry it, I think. And Matt will sell them at fan events, too, and I suspect a lot will go at those venues.

Very sad reading about the closing of The Promenade Theatre. Even sadder to see that TRYST, which featured an almost naked Maxwell Caulfield will be closing on the 11th.
-
Yeah, that is sad about the Promenade. Another sign of the times, I guess. My sis, when she lived in NYC, lived right by it, so I remember seeing the place on my first ever visit to New York. The only show I ever saw there was MR. GOLDWYN starring Alan King.

Geeze Louise!! Soon there's gonna be nothing but hotel and expensive restaurants in NYC and no reason to go there! :-\

Ghostlight Records released "The Drowsy Chaperone" early in time for the Tony's so people can hear the score before the Tony's. It obviously hasn't hit the west coast yet. You'd think if they want to get the score out there, they would put it on iTunes!!!
-
And wowee...the same day that the Gods give us BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS on dvd, we will also get the my favorite Saturday morning tv series LANCELOT LINK: SECRET CHIMP!
This may very well spell the end of civiliztion to some...but it is a dream come true for me! LOL!

The vocal books are non-existant - along with "Leader of the Pack", "Blood Brothers" and "Zombie Prom" and probably others. I once asked Sam French how one was suppose to teach vocals without vocal books, and their answer was "Gather around the piano" My pal Mark joke about that all the time now.

I was shocked--it arrived on my desk this morning from Amazon.

I saw an entirely naked Maxwell Caulfield many moons ago in a play with Jessica Tandy and Elizabeth Wilson (neither of which whom got naked themselves.)

Vixmom, did you see the recommendations yesterday (or was it Tuesday?) of a couple of nice Bollywood movies for the Vixter?

Vixmom, did you see the recommendations yesterday (or was it Tuesday?) of a couple of nice Bollywood movies for the Vixter?
Yes thank you, I read them this morning from last night's posts. I wrote them down and I will try to locate them.. It also made me realize the Vixter has never seen the original ET!!

Isn't there some online soap opera store? I believe Ron Raines sells his CDs through it.

It may not only be the end of civilization but the end of your New York play money.

Fun lunch with friends and then a leisurely drive home. There is so much road construction going on around Charlotte that it's impossible to plan a route since it's almost a sure thing there will be a detour. I hit two of them on my way home from lunch.
-
I saw an entirely naked Maxwell Caulfield many moons ago in a play with Jessica Tandy and Elizabeth Wilson (neither of which whom got naked themselves.)
He was naked again in MY NIGHT WITH REG with Sam Trammel, also quite stark.

Obviously, a friend who has very good taste!

DR Elmore, there are some things a person MUST purchase.
-
Once I got in, I spent the entire afternoon with HUD. What a wonderful movie, and those performances! Every one of those actors deserved awards, and though TOM JONES was a much showier movie, I think HUD should have won Best Picture over it.
However, I haven't watched TOM JONES in awhile, so I should take it form the shelf and watch it at some point this week so I can do a more objective comparison. I'm operating with at least a five year old memory of TOM JONES.
-

Well, I suppose once you have actually met Brian D'Arcy James, he must have lost some of his allure.
-

Golly....was anyone hurt? I was certain folks on the east coast were taught to go around the Detours...to "avoid" hitting them.
Have things changed?
:D
-
There is a huge pot of turkey and corn chili simmering on the stove right now. Since the rainy forcast is going to keep us away from Vermont this weekend, we've opted to stay home and eat instead. :)
-
I was debating making a batch of chocolate chip cookies, but I don't know if I'll have enough time before leaving to meet my friend for dinner.
-
I am listening and singing along to the Camp soundtrack right now. Whenever I sing, Walty thinks that I am talking to him and comes over to stare at me. At least he doesn't run away and hide.
-
I have just finished eating a bowl of chocolate pudding and now I want more.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM choclate pudding!
Cooked or instant? I really love the cooked

You should probably have more then. Your body is clearly communicating to you that it is in need of more pudding.
-
Oh, be the Baker.... you owe it to your fans!
LOL.... I didn't know I had any.
[/i]
I'm a fan!! I travelled many miles AND paid for a ticket to see you in performance...and would again! ;D
-
DR Sandra, with her mouth full of pudding, suggests the Tuna series to DR PennyO.
-
Off to get cleaning for today done, and then I have a MURDER SHE WROTE episode cued up ready to watch.
WBBL.

BK, what about getting the DVD on Netflix (http://www.netflix.com)?? I have no idea what it would take, but when you search Matt's and your names, there are results! I'm sure that people would find it there. Just a thought. :)
-
Good Afternoon!
DRs TPunk and Rodzinski - Since you guys are staying in town this weekend, care to join me and James and Jason for the midnight showing of XANADU tomorrow night at Chelsea Clearview?
:)

Thank you very much, George, I needed that today.

I've spent this morning cruising various job websites, looking for interesting job posting. And at the Jewish Board website I was that they had just reposted the job I'd been interviewing for. I'm guessing that it's gonna be a while before I hear back from them. :)
I have a friend, a recent college graduate, who works at http://www.jdc.org/
-
TOD: My friend used to say that food went straight to her liver if it gave her indigestion -- i.e. "That enchiada went straight to my liver."
I had a salad called "panzinetta" for lunch today -- mixed organic greens and romaine hearts (heavily) tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette with soft Tuscan bread croutons, olives, blue cheese crumbles and artichoke hearts.
The vinaigrette went straight to my liver!
-
I want one of those KFC Cholesterol Bowls that they have been advertising. It would probably go straight to my hip, since the other one is fake.

Had a drive up to Cincinnati today, to seel some books at Half-price...mostly crap that didn't get culled from the library before I moved...two boxes for which I got a grand total of fourteen dollars, but Half-Price, before it became a nationwide chain of used bookstores, was my used bookstore in Dallas when I lived there years ago...so it was like revisiting an old haunt. The Cincy store isn't as extensive has the main one in Dallas, but I managed to pick up a few things. Then I went down the street to a Trader Joe's, which is now a chain based in California, and where The Lovely Wife and I used to do much of our shopping. They don't have a lot of favourites that the LA stores carry and their wines are a buck or two higher on average, but I still managed to walk out with $200 dollars of groceries and booze.
-
Those who have AOL - why are a couple of people who always show up on my buddy list, not showing up on my buddy list? I tried nuking them and putting them back but they're still not showing up. One of them does show up on another screen name buddy list. i don't get it. I restarted the computer, everything, but these couple of people, who were always there (and who are always on line) aren't there.
-
He was naked again in MY NIGHT WITH REG with Sam Trammel, also quite stark.
Sounds like he has issues about keeping his clothes on. I bet he ran around the house buck naked as a kid
-

I'm certain he's been encouraged....a LOT!

They may have blocked themsleves from all AOL Buddy Lists. You can go to set up and block yourself from being seen on anyone's Buddy List.

A friend has written me to catch me up on things in his life.
One comment about his mother:
"Roberta has taken to fainting and scaring everyone to death."
For some reason, this simply had me laughing loudly. It's so "Southern Belle"....and he's assured me she's well, despite the fainting.
-
Yes, I know it's not funny.
-
But it's totally hilarious!
:D

Well, it certainly keeps the casting people interested.

That is the same thing that I was going to say. I'll bet this is what happened.
Also, re: what DR Elmore said about a soap opera store. I'm not sure, but i'd think that ron raines (on Guiding Light) might sell his cds at the cbs store. Perhaps NBC has a similar store for their soaps.
-
Yes, I know it's not funny.
It is funny. Sounds like Edward Gorey or Eudora Welty.
-
Well, it certainly keeps the casting people interested.
Isn't Maxwell still Haley's brother-in-law?
Let's get together, yeah, yeah, yeah
-
Paul and I went to ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL this afternoon. We really enjoyed it.
-

Of course, Paul would enjoy it -- he has green hair!
-
Maxwell Caulfield is Haley Joel Osment's brother-in-law???
-
I believe Mr. Caulfield was naked in three plays in New York: Entertaining Mr. Sloane, Salonika and My Night With Reg.
But in My Night With Reg, it was Sam Trammel's nude scene that was very much "out there," if you get my drift.

No, what do you mean, Fred?
-

LOL! Yes, he loved it. He thought the art school stereotypes were right on target.
I'm actually going to try my hand at art. I'm going to take a drawing class and help Paul and Mark do their mural on the watertower again this year. I'm really looking forward to that. It was such fun last year.
-
I've done a little painting and drawing in the past, but not much. With an ex-husband who was an artist and best friends who are artists, I don't know why I haven't done more of it
-

It would be a waste of time for me to take a drawing class. I have no artistic talent. I can't even draw a straight line.
-
That is why I enjoy computer art.
-
George HOW do you "double quote"?
-

So draw some curvy ones! :D

Don't you HATE when you are waitng for the phone to ring and it doesn't?
-

I can't even think straight.
Oh, wait...different connotation. ;)

-
OK Vixdad wants the computer.. LATERS
-
George how DO you include two different quotes in one reply?
I'm writing a book...hang on!! ;D
-
George HOW do you "double quote"?
You have to do it manually...TCB! Calling Dr. TCB! :o ;)
I have a Windows-based PC, so if you have a Mac that doesn't have the left and right buttons, I don't know how that works.
Version 1: If you want to quote two different posts one after the other, go to one of them, right click on the quote button and select "Open Link in New Window." Then go back to your original browser, go to the other post and do the same thing (I always do this anyway so that my original browser stays at where I'm caught up to and I don't have to try and find where I left off after I post). Anyway, go to the browser that has the first quoted post and highlight the whole thing (click in the Message box and hit control + a). Copy this (control + c) and then go the to the other browser. Put your cursor at the very top left corner and paste the other message (control + v) before the quoted post that you want to be second in your post. Then type your response below that, just like normal. It'll look like this:
So draw some curvy ones! :D
Don't you HATE when you are waitng for the phone to ring and it doesn't?
Version 2: If you want to have a quote within a quote, when you paste the internal quote, just put your cursor inside the quote after the close bracket of the quote code: you'll see: "[ quote author=Cillaliz link=.....]" and then paste after this before the second comments start. The code will look something like this:
[ quote author=Cillaliz link=.....] Cillaliz's message [ quote author=TCB link=.....]TCB's message[ /quote] [ /quote]
Your message here.
And end up looking like this:
Paul and I went to ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL this afternoon. We really enjoyed it.

Clear as mud?? ;D

That comes as no surprise to most of us!! ;D

Who are you trying to kid?? :o :o

Of interest, particularly, to DRs Tomovoz and Rodzinski...Johnny Grande of BILL HALEY AND THE COMETS died Saturday in Clarksville, TN.
-
Time to eat some roast beast and watch WHAT'S MY LINE.
I suspect that Dorothy Killgallan's final episode is coming up soon.
-
I watched SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE tonight. The judges are incredibly harsh, but now that the auditions are over, it will be interesting to see what happens next
-
I put in the DVD of OLD ACQUAINTANCE tonight, but I started with the making-of documentary first. Honestly, the speakers explain what is meant by the term "woman's picture." I had a good laugh.
-
The movie itself is not in the near-pristine condition that THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER is. Especially early in the film, there is definite print damage and spotting. The pictuire is sharp, but that was the best print they could find?
And Miriam Hopkins is so terrible in this - very artificial and mannered. No wonder Bette Davis loathed working with her. Subtlety was not a part of her vocabulary.
-
Then I watched tonight's CSI rerun. I remembered the premise of the show - a film crew is filming the CSIs for a reality show as they do their jobs, so the show jumps from high definition sharpness to a faded, screen-door effect camera for the documentary footage.
Jack Noseworthy was among the guest stars tonight.
-
I decided I'd give NBC's new drama WINDFALL a try tonight. 20 people win a $380+ million lottery. Probably too many stories going on, but so far it has held my interest enough to continue watching next week. Looks like it's going to be in ER's time period for the summer (and NBC is rerunning tonight's pilot episode a couple of more times during the week to try to reel in as many viewers as possible.)
-
Heading for bed now in the hopes of getting more than seven hours of sleep for a change.
Good night, everyone!
-
Back from what I hope will be our next to last editing session - we finished, fixed the one remaining problem in act one, and all that's left to do is the titles. Then Kev and I will watch, make notes, and we'll do one more quick four-hour session if we have to and that will be that.
-
This morning I went for a walk in the nippy weather, and this is what I saw:
-
Good Evening!
It's actually quite a wonderful evening out right now. It's cool, but not too cool, and there's just the right amount of humidity in the air. Made for a very pleasant walk through midtown earlier tonight.
-
James and I went to see "Boy Culture" tonight. It's one of those "special interest" films that are a part of the NewFest Film Festival. A very good film with some very funny moments, and some unexpectedly touching moments.
-
And that's about all my brain can handle for now. I have a very long day ahead of me tomorrow - I'll be in Tony Prep Mode - and I need to get a good night's sleep. Lots of running around to do. So...
Goodnight.
-
Earlier I had two eggs and two small tortillas. So, since I ran extra this morning, I figured I was safe to eat a decent meal tonight, so I went to the Wolfgang Puck's in Gelson's and got me a chicken Casear salad, which was absolutely fantastic - it was the first time I've had it there, and I shall be eating it often. I had them do a bit too much dressing, so from now on I'll get less, but man was it yummilcious. I hope I don't gain from it, but really, I don't think I overate today.
-
Has Ann caught up?
Conversely, has up caught Ann?
-
Finished another song for dear reader PennyO's show. That's three completed. Not sure how many more to go, but I'm really enjoying writing them.
