I visited a neat bookstore when I was in Washington State in Redmond called Puss n Books!!
They had two cats and LOTS and LOTS of books!! Loved it!
And the word of the day is: DELETERIOUS!Casey would waltz
With over 5000 stores nationwide, Starbuck's is hardly a place where the elite meet and greet. :P
There are sure to be better places to get your coffee fix, Edisaurus. Check the phone book, ask friends. It's not like Atlanta is an itsy-bitsy one horse town with a single trough.
I was able to get the boys to look for "little things no one else bothers to look at" to keep them from running off.
Edisaurus,
What makes you think that we Hainsie/Kimlets are NOT writing dirty books? :)
I forgot to mention last night in giving my opinion on TWENTY GOOD YEARS (the John Lithgow/Jeffrey Tambor comedy) that the marvelous Kevin Chamberlin is in the cast and was totally wasted in the pilot as a court baliff. Perhaps they'll use his superb comic talents in a future episode, but I was sorely disapppointed with the absolute nothing they gave him to do in the first episode.
So you can imagine how HE must have felt! ;D

Our Rexall Drugstore also had a soda fountain....but it was gone by the time I was in third grade or so.
My Dad's drugstore was also a Rexall with a soda fountain.
Where are the Rexalls of yesteryear?
How exciting about your new place, DR George! After 25 (!) years in the same place I sometimes yearn for a change and the excitement of moving someplace new. I have to keep telling myself how lucky I am that the joint is paid in full and be happy with that.
Thank-you, George, for yesterday's lyric.
Mais ou sont les Rexalls d'antan?
...and then someone makes a disparaging remark about reality television and DH Colin, sensing a rumble is about to begin, heads for the hills!

Quel est antan ?
At least it's yesteryear in the translation of the Villon "where are the snows of yesteryear!"
Here is DR Jane and her son Bryan meeting Tom and Colin at Union Station.
Uh, oh, Edisaurus, there is a non-subtitled version around.
You will want the one by Cinemateca with that photo of her being pulled up the stairway.
Yesteryear!Merci!
And I had worked at the Kosher Country in Coney Island for a little while
...One tip: They don't pay well for books you want to sell....
Ah yes, DR EDISAURUS - you have a non-subtitled DVD.

It's weird---that version doesn't even show up on Caiman's site!
I am looking forward to the movie version of MANHUNT - THE 12 DAY CHASE FOR LINCOLN'S KILLER. Did you read it yet?
I gotta finish STRANGE PIECE OF PARADISE; my next book is about to be published!
Well off to a meeting. Catch you all later. Today is going much better than yesterday, thanks in part to the fine makers of Advil Cold and Sinus
As far as I know, DR JRand56, you and I are the only ones on the site to have read it.
I discovered the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland.
I must say, DR EDISAURUS...that even at a HIGH price, the movie is worth it. :P
I am listening to a CD compilation that Tomovoz gave me yesterday...all songs that have coffee or tea in the song. Some very good songs!!

I bought some stuff from Caiman on Amazon and on Ebay.
Something is coming to tea
What is it?
Name that show.
Well....that makes us even MORE special! ;D
If elmore needs reading matter, I can think of a brand spanking new book he's just received - easy to read, you know - no story over twenty-five pages, I don't think.
Does it have Mandy Patinkin's "Coffee In A Cardboard Cup"? That always makes me laugh!
Since I find Mr Patinkin's solo albums with their peculiar variations in decibel level only good for peeling paint from walls and upsetting the neighbors, I prefer the OBC with the late great Lillian Hayman. What show is it from?
I own the book and I'm doing your show. That's enough for now! I'm already living with you 8 hours a day.
and yes to Everything Stops.
DR Jane shares some of her loot from the candy store with Tom and Colin.
I am not allowed to return home from visiting California without bringing See's candy to my mother.
Please, God, don't let Jack be normal!
What show is it from?
I used to listen to Mandy, until I discovered Guy Haines...
Regarding yesterday's BK question about best and worst looking celebs at the Ray Court's show...I agree...Diane McBain is still stunning!!!
Also, Paul Mantee, even at 70 years old, was a hunk! And I never saw a guy with bigger hands!
Something is coming to tea
What is it?
Wish I had TiVO!
Drama on Pwoject Wunway....quelle suprise! Next week we will know all.
Unexpected tears in the preview!
Mr Haines and Mr Patinkin are nowhere near the same ballpark! Mr Haines has a way with a melody, a lyric and a turn of phrase that the overindulgent Mr P will never understand. Mr Haines elegantly presents a song while Mr P tortures it to death in the name of ego.
How about Mantee's hands on "A Handful of Keys."
Didn't you say you had Comcast Digital? We do, and they offer a DVR for an additional less than $10/month (actually you get a replacement cable box with the DVR included within - and one common remote. The DVR lets you record one show while you watch another, and schedule shows for recording when you're away.

I still have a sizable collection of Creepys & Eeries, as well as Vampirellas.
Oddly enough, when I moved to California, I discovered another Bert Smith's Acres of Books in Long Beach. It was the same Bert Smith from Cincinnati. He had apparently moved to Long Beach at some point and had sold the book store in Cincy, which retained the name. The store in Long Beach was also great and, as far as I know, still there.
I agree that Mandy is overindulgent. (His voice drives dear Greg up the wall!) But I like his choice of songs and until I found this site, I didn't know of too many alternatives for new releases like this. I do like Mandy's keyboard player on "Handful of Keys", whoever he is.
Matt did an incredible job.
Still there:

ACRES OF BOOKS (http://www.acresofbooks.com/) is still threatened by redevelopement and gets regularly hassled by the disabled demanding wheel chair access thru-out and reachable sheving!

Probably my friend Paul Ford. He's excellent!
I saw the Ann Coulter lies book at Barnes and Nobel on Tuesday. It's already out
Customs may have thought Tom and Colin were CD entrepreneurs when they arrived in the states. They passed out many CDs to many people.
It's only the lyrics but here is a link to a page w/the lyrics to

I was told by the Comcast guy that installed my cable that I could get a DVR with TWO tuners, meaning I could record TWO different programs while watching a third! I'm seriously thinking about that...it's only $5 more!

How ridiculous! Narrow aisles and towering shelves that can only be reached by ladder are what great old bookstores are about. What do the disabled expect the bookstore to do? Moved to a bigger facility that would cost more in rent (to say nothing of the move) just to accommodate them? Either that or cut half their stock.
I need to get the new Xmen DVD but lord knows when I'll get around to watching it. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is still sitting in the wrapper, untouched.
Gotta run.
Have a wonderful evening all!
Edisaurus,I am absolutely not writing dirty books!!!!
What makes you think that we Hainsie/Kimlets are NOT writing dirty books? :)
Hmmm.... another of my predictions is coming true. MEDIUM is being brought back to NBC in mid-November to fill the Wednesday at 10 timeslot vacated by KIDNAPPED.
Maybe I'm the medium? ;D
No, I'm a large, for sure. ;D
I saw Medium a couple of times during the summer and rather liked it.

You know what they say about men with big hands (and feet, too)... ;)
Where is DR RLP?
70 and big . . . hands. i'll bet that perked you right up. Were you looking for the Wedding Chapel?
Mr Haines and Mr Patinkin are nowhere near the same ballpark!
THe coffee shops as of late have been the only really friendly places for chat and enjoyment. If you are interested in hiphop there are a few places but other music genres you are at a loss.
North Dakota Hiphop! Now, THAT is a frightening thought.
Song Fight!
"Marie" Throw Down! (Vertical testing of Randy Newman's beautiful waltz "Marie")
Arena: My car stereo
The winner: Guy Haines, T.K.O.!
Well, ya know, edi, the Guy Haines song that moves me to tears is "The Cowboy Waltz."
North Dakota Hiphop! Now, THAT is a frightening thought.
DR Elmore thanks for the warning (although i'm not sure if you were warning me about something DR JRand said or about something you were going to say). Unfortunately i've had to be much too careful here re: project runway.
We just finished week 6 here. I was very sad with who left this week since she was one of my favorites.
Good Afternoon! Good Evening!
-Just wanted to check in here before heading to dinner. The ship left Cozumel about half an hour ago, and we're now making our way back to Ft. Lauderdale, a.k.a. "home". It's been a great couple of days, and we still have one more very full day "at sea" to go. In the past 48 hours, I've walked along the Dunn's River Falls, swam with and fed the stingrays at Stingray Island, snorkeled at reef, cooked a gourmet Mexican lunch, went jetskiing, etc, etc., etc. *And ate more food and drank more alcohol than any sane person has a right too. -But, then again, I'm not sane, so...
Vibes to those in need, and continued to well-wishes to everyone.
Laters...
But...Little Red Hat---I don't know what to make of it. Is it a ....euphemism????
I don't think so! ;) But speaking of Audra McDonald, PBS' "Live from Lincoln Center" Series Presents Audra McDonald TV Concert Oct. 12 (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/102679.html)!! It's not going to be on Seattle's PBS until Sunday...but I can wait! Anyway, near the end of the article is this paragraph:
McDonald will return to Broadway this season in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of 110 in the Shade.
110 in the Shade is coming back to Broadway? With Audra?? Will there be a recording?? Will Audra win her FIFTH Tony Award®??
Don't you think Ms I'm-too-grand-for-my-britches McDonald is lousy casting for wallflower Lizzie? I sure do!
Do you mean that idiot Angela, designer for the Filene's Basement of WhoresRUs?
Well, I don't know about the "I'm-too-grand-for-my-britches" part but, as much as I enjoy her recordings, she wouldn't actually be my first choice to play the role. ::) But I'd love to hear the CD...if they record one.
Edisaurus - you got Haines His Way? Goodie!
DR EDISAURUS - are you familiar with the play/film THE RAINMAKER by N. Richard Nash? Little brother Jimmy is infatuated with a girl in town who promises to give her little red hat to the boy she loves. In the musical version of the play 110 in the SHADE, Jimmy and the girl sing the song about THE LITTLE RED HAT.
So does anyone suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia? If so, watch out tomorrow!
Thanks so much DR Ben for posting that. I know the lyrics by heart, but LJB's album credits the song to a production called "Come Into The Kitchen". Thanks to you, now I know it really was "Come Out Of The Pantry". (Originally the story came from a silent film called "Come Out of the Kitchen"!) You'd think he would have gotten it right, since he Came Out Of The Closet early on. He was one of the most versatile singers ever. Too bad he's no longer with us.
Now, will I ever be able to find "Come Out Of The Pantry"? It has Faye Wray and Jack Buchanan so it's not like it's a bunch of nobodies.
The genre of HickHop is embodied (and what a body!) in the music artist currently know as Cowboy Troy.
Who is LJB?
Now, THOSE are big hands!
TCB, did you check out Paolo Conte, the Italian singer on the S&V CD?
Are they mad re what they're charging for the special benefit performance of CHICAGO for its 10th anniversary? $500 for the rear mezzanine?
I'll get off my soapbox now.
Next came tonight's UGLY BETTY. I really enjoyed tonight's episode, and I like that Betty is losing a bit of her naivete and realizes that the snakes at her job just aren't going to change and are not looking out for her best interests.
DakotaCelt, I don't mean to sound heartless and I am sympathetic to the disabled, but that bookstore has been there for years! To make it disabled-friendly would be prohibitively expensive for them. It's one thing when one is building a new store and these considerations should be taken in, older buildings and businesses have to have some leeway.
