DR RLP - I found a "Seth" paperback for 69 cents and found it fascinating. I read it and then sold it for $2 in our used book section.
Certainly an interesting and fascinating case.
Good morning, all! Today I fly to Ohio, and for the next days/weeks I will be posting from the Cincinnati-Dayton area with my dear friend and DR Ginny. My cousin wrote last night to tell me my timing was excellent, that there are huge storms predicted for Monday. Since I hate flying anyway, I need any and all travel vibes you can send my way.
This morning, I have to pack, run a couple of errands, and tidy the apartment. I will check back in before I leave.

"A Night at the Museum". I slept through about 15 minutes of it. The plot points were predictable ones we've seen a thousand times, but it's worth seeing for the visual effects. And they had very cool, tastefully done 3D head credits. (Sad when that is one of your favorite parts!) Nice old-school score by Alan Silvestri, too.
DR Cillaliz--look for a package from me next week. A little something for your new office!

2 eggs over easy
The way I like them; however, I 'm a real spatula klutz, so I use a "trick": when the eggs are just about done, sunny side up, I put a tablespoon of water in the pan and pop on a lid - the quick burst of stem will cook the yolk tops in a jiffy.

The Grammys are also on tonight, but I don't care a thing about them other than which show wins best cast recording.

Dark, sexy and fresh...
-- The London Observer
Seized with a powerful thirst, the Lord of the Undead stirs from his bed of Transylvanian dirt... Marc Warren (Band of Brothers) joins the ranks of the great screen Draculas with a performance as demonic as Bela Lugosi's (1931), as urbane as Christopher Lee's (1958), and as ominously sensual as Gary Oldman's (1992).
David Suchet (Poirot) stars as vampire scholar Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, an authority on the powers of garlic, crucifixes, and wooden stakes to combat these bloodsucking monsters. Also appearing are Sophia Myles (Art School Confidential, Marple) as Lucy Westenra, the chaste victim, and Stephanie Leonidas as Mina, who seems certain to follow her friend Lucy into the realm of the undead. Rafe Spall plays Mina's fiancé, Jonathan Harker; Dan Stevens is Lucy's new husband, Arthur Holmwood; and Tom Burke plays Dr. John Seward, Lucy's failed suitor and the attending physician during her horrible descent into vampirism.

Okay! I'm off to Ohio.
I went to the plantation house next door to our house that we had hoped to live in (the one full of house parts now) because there was an "estate sale" now that the woman whose family had lived there for 5 generations has moved to her penthouse in The Loft. The developer was holding court with lots of little old ladies in the kitchen. I asked him what was to become of the house. He smugly said "I've scheduled a controlled burn for the end of the month." I'm sure he wanted me to take him seriously and get all scared. The old ladies thought that was a hoot. But he has done nothing to preserve this place since he bought it and it continues to deteriorate. (Our preservation group offered over market value to buy it, but the city gave some many incentives to the developer, including our tax money, no buffers and increased density for the land, that we could never have matched that.) Oh well...
New house! Gotta think about the NEW house!
DR Cillaliz--look for a package from me next week. A little something for your new office!

LOL, the funniest thing about this is that one of the offices is missing a door and they are looking around the building for it.
Stories like this one really make my blood boil. Many of the communities that are letting their heritage go bye-bye depend on tourism. Tourists don't come to see the new, just-like-everything-else condos--they come to see the history and heritage.
Like you say, EDI, some battles can't be won. One must choose their battles.
I am not choosing any more battles in the city of Marietta, GA. It's a lost cause unless there is a regime change.

Here's my "career" horoscope for today:
February 11, 2007
If your current career seems to be falling apart right now, don't fight it. This is a message from the universe that this particular path is not yours to take at the current time. Let things crumble so that you can build stronger than before.
So what did I tell you? I don't actually do what my horoscope says to do, but more often than not it reinforces what I had decided to do anyway. On the days is doesn't....I ignore it :)
Time for revolution!
The friend said that they went to meet with the developer to see what he was going to do with the house. (She is head of our group that tried to buy it years ago.)
THE FLAG WAS HANGING ON THE WALL OF HIS OFFICE, LIKE SOME ^#$&ING TROPHY!
Awaiting the arrival of Mr. Geissman.
This is from the Jonathan Cainer horoscope that you mentioned last night?
No this was MSN.... Here's my week ahead from Cainer
Happy New Year! You may not be a Tibetan. You may not live in China, either. Still, though, the New Moon, at the end of this week, that heralds a change in the calendar for both these nations, has a similar meaning for the global population of Cancerians. This is the fresh start you have been waiting for. A chance to really fulfil the promises that you made to yourself back at the start of 2007. Already some things have changed in a way you never believed they could. You are about to see that these are leading to a series of even more exciting and inspiring possibilities. Need to give something up? Want to take something up? Now is your chance.
I'm out of bed.
That sounds like a good start.
I don't know if there's any justice in life (or after life), but this guy sounds like a prime candidate. Despite his connections, I suspect he's made many enemies--never a good thing.
You've gotta figure if a guy's own MOTHER is suing him for stealing her inheritance and land, he's probably not a good guy. He has many enemies, but there are a lot of stupid earthlings that fall for his smoothtalking line of bull---including our mayor. Plus, he's in business/has gven money in the form of "fundraisers" to several councilmen, so that always helps.
You've gotta figure if a guy's own MOTHER is suing him for stealing her inheritance and land, he's probably not a good guy.

Hi DR Edi....It is definitely Spring here in the southwest.... I have a few nifty pics to share.
Still awaiting Mr. Geissman, who is always late.
The very first blooms that appear are the 2 nectarine trees that you can see here (with a very large and mature pecan tree behind it).
And here are the nectarine blossoms up close. I was trying to capture a bee doing its work, but didn't get one...
Sounds inspiring.
OK, I must have clogged up something called the "upload folder" here....I keep getting that message, and it doesn't want me to share any more photos... :(
But dear Jose.... if someone purges, does that mean that all of the pictures on today's page will go away??
Cason---love the new avatar!
Thank you! Yeah, I figured...what the hey, you know? Bruce, Adriana, and my mother have heard about Heather, so I thought why not share her with the rest of the Hainsies & Kimlets?
Jewelry jewelry items? Guess you can tell where I stopped to look at the weather report and started typing again

Otherwise, it was a good morning session. There are one or two people I want to track down - I need to tell them that they're music is "wrong" - and that I played it "right". -And now they will now why they've had issues with their songs at other auditions. It was NOT the pianist. -They commented to me that they were glad to see me since I would finally play their music correctly, well.. I did. But...
One can never have enough jewelry!
But yes, all of my nectarines, peaches (2 varieties), apricots, and apples all bear wonderful fruit and lots of it!
DR George, you may be interested in this if you didn't already know it.
I think I remember that you bought and enjoyed THIRD MAN OUT, too, and if I'm remembering correctly, you'd probably like to know that the next movie in the series - A SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM - comes out this Tuesday on DVD.
Since my cable system doesn't get the Here! network, I haven't had a chance to see this, but the VARIETY review was every bit as complimentary to it as it was to THIRD MAN OUT. In fact, the reviewer preferred this one a bit more to the first one.
Anyway, I preordered it, so I hope to have it mid-to-late in the week. Really looking forward to seeing the next one.
The sale was sort of a bust. They went to 80% off on Friday, but people were still lined up to get in today. All the small appliances were gone, but I did get a reversible down comforter, a quilt, a nice scarf and a couple jewelry jewelry items for future gifts for my niece. I think I'll give her one of them when I go to see her in Little Shop of Horrors next Saturday.
In a few minutes I'll need to turn my attention back to decluttering. I'm not eager...
Matt, you read my mind! That's exactly what I was just about to ask you about! I remember reading that "Third Man Out" was supposed to be part of a series (I don't get the Here! network, either), and was going to ask if you new anything about it. What a coinkydink! Thanks for the tip...I'll order that DVD RIGHT NOW! ;D
Thank you! Yeah, I figured...what the hey, you know? Bruce, Adriana, and my mother have heard about Heather, so I thought why not share her with the rest of the Hainsies & Kimlets?
It sounds to me like you did quite well, CILLALIZ. I'm not a big shopper myself, but I do enjoy a bargain, and it sounds like you got quite a few.
Back from errands to Target and Kroger, where everyone had 2 or 3 whiney kids with them. And the worse the kids whined, the louder the parents yelled at them. I'm glad to be home.
My sister was able to tape Oprah's episode from this past week on decluttering and I'm going to watch it today. I DESPERATELY need to get rid of a lot of my stuff...but, of course, I need to stop talking about it and just do it. ::)
But, GEORGE, you emptied your storage locker, did you not? That is a GIANT step forward. A $90/mo. step forward. You probably have more now in your house, but it's still progress!
Yes, I was hoping to get a good coffeemaker, so that's why I was a bit disappointed, but what I really needed was the down comforter and the quilt, so it worked out for the best
Doesn't that depend on whether or not he still find his bed?
der Brucer
I did massive decluttering when I sold my place at the lake. I threw away a lot of things. Some of it I probably could have sold, but I gave away what family and friends wanted and threw the rest in the dumpster. It was so freeing. I need to do that again. This time I should take the time to do a sale
I know people who say they've made lots of money on garage sales. I never have--my takings never amount to that much--but it's fun just the same. Mostly, I like to find good homes for things, whether I make much money or not. At the end of one yard sale, another vendor and I simply traded. That works too!
DR BK
I have some of the pages up and running on www.brucekimmel.com (http://www.brucekimmel.com) but when recreating one of the pages I started listing the names of the musicians and started to see a pattern in their names. This is from Ennio Morricone Once Upon A Time In The Cinema:
and on violins a host of characters from Hitchcock Films
Margaret Edgar (Marnie)•Frances Stevens (To Catch A Thief)•John Robie (To Catch A Thief)•John Ferguson (Vertigo)•Melanie Daniels (The Birds) Leila Crane (Psycho)•Madeline Elster (Vertigo)•Jonathan Cooper (Stage Fright)•Tony Wendice (Dial M For Murder) Alexander Sebastian (Notorious)•Charles Oakley (Shadow Of A Doubt)•Joseph Newton (Shadow Of A Doubt)•John Jones (Foreign Correspondent)•Carol Fisher (Foreign Correspondent)
and on violas more characters from Hitchcock Films
Lisa Freemont (Rear Window)•Charlotte Inwood (Stage Fright)•Ann Morton (Strangers On A Train)•Michael Armstrong (Torn Curtain)
and on cello even more characters from Hitchcock Films
Jo McKenna (The Man Who Knew Too Much)•Michael Logan (I Confess)•Albert Wiles (The Trouble With Harry)
and Sam Marlove (The Trouble With Harry)
Did anyone notice this before?
Did you have musicians that actually played the instruments and did not want their names on the credits for one reason or another?
Some are collecting postmarks with a shared theme, including Loveland, Colo.; Valentine, Texas; Kissimmee, Fla.; Romeo, Mich.; and Juliet, Ga.
My mother and her friends had sales twice a year when I was growing up. They had regular customers who were invited to come early etc. I usually give the usable stuff to friends or Goodwill. I have just never taken the time to do things right for a sale. Call me lazy, but it's a lot of work!
Phoenix is not nearly as old a city as the cities back east. But we like to tear down nice old buildings and put up new stucco castles.

Greetings from Ohio! The flight was comfortable and so on time that we landed early. My brothers have been here with me, and now the hospice caregiver Donna is here with him.
Is she your GF? And she hasn't met your adorable, adoring mother?
Heather is adorable---and Cason is fraught with talent. (Is that a compliment? It is meant as one!) I've enjoyed editing your Brain performance.
I spent about an hour and a half on it today and found things I can live quite well without. I play mind games to help me get started--breaking an overwhelming task into small, managable chunks is a favorite. Not nearly so daunting! It helps greatly to be in the mood to TOSS (otherwise, things get moved around but not OUT). Once I get on a roll it's easier and I'm more productive. It also helps to see progress.
But, GEORGE, you emptied your storage locker, did you not? That is a GIANT step forward. A $90/mo. step forward. You probably have more now in your house, but it's still progress!

"THIS IS THE YEAR!"
Gee, I never imagined Danny Zuko with a head that looks like a taxi cab with both doors open. :P
And now I'm watching "Grease..." -You wanna talk about bad auditions... :-\
I am not watching GREASE tonight, I think I will watch THE ABSENT MINDED PROFESSOR on TCM. I haven't seen this since I saw it at the drive-in, as a MUCH younger child than I am now.
So I take it that tonight's Grease show isn't live?
I am glad THE ABSENT MINDED PROFESSOR is coming on VERY soon. ;D
Today before church, the minister was playing the awful awful awful home-made cd again. It is a hoot. One of the back-up singers is tone-deaf and was way too close to the mic.
Why are they waving their hands in the air?!?!!? It's not that type of song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is not live here.
Juliana next....maybe they will let her sing "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina."
Page Nine Dance.
No picture. :)
ALW wrote "Hunka Burnin' Love"? What show was that in?
In other news...
I really think I'm going to try to get on an earlier flight Tuesday to beat the storm. We shall see.
DR GINNY I hope you are prepared for SNOW!!! I am getting that way!
Yup, all in all I'd rather be in Wisconsin with DH Richard.
<<<<<<<<<SORT OF A SPOILER>>>>>>>>>>>
So... If the bottom two will be in a "Sing Off" tonight, does that mean the lowest vote-getter could possibly stay? Or is the sing-off basically just going to an act as a formality? Or is this the way the producers - mainly David Ian - will insure that they will have good people left in the final four, final two?
OUCH!!!!!!!!!
I doubt I will stay up late enough to see the end of tonight's show.
I read in the paper that Slacker Danny is a local fella.
So, when does this show open on Broadway?
DR Sandra would be happy to see that the Sandies are wearing saddle shoes.
Hmmm.... I wonder if they would let Austin sing something from Hairspray? Hmmm.....
Well.... I can watch one more pairing before I have to play callbacks...
DR CILLA LIZ went to the BIG sale. She didn't get what she wanted, but she got what she needed.
Can anyone really ask anything more from Life?
Don't your auditioners have karaoke tracks and back-up dancers?
Does this show have an opening date and a theater booked?
Does this show have an opening date and a theater booked?
Well you can't always get what you want, but if you try some times, you just might find, you get what you need

My what compassion...
Who writes this stuff - I've been wondering all along?
"Earlier on we saw these Dannys and Sandys crash into the bottom two and this is how they took the news"
This is sick... let's watch them go backstage and cry
And the losers will be paraded in front of the live audience in handcuffs and escorted by armed guards off the premises taking only what they can carry in a sack tied around their necks. Stay tuned!! ;D
DR RLP:
"Prisoner of Zen-da...."
LOL
I just found out a guy from the lakes area where I used to live will be on Martha Stewart on the 13th. He's a barber and will be doing his shaving techniques.
And I bet you folks faught fair!
I'm reminded of the discussion the other day about "evil".
At the risk of acting the perfect cynic - had you preservation folks concentrated your efforts on some maybe-not-so-clean tricks to bring down the crook, perhaps you might have won. (As you have posed it, this was not a battle about right and wrong, it was about strong (and crooked) and weak (and honest).

Also enjoyed (and was dismayed) by DR EDISAURUS' posts concerning her preservation fight and its outcome....
I'm now going to my sister's house to help move a couple of very heavy TVs up and down her stairs.
Don't be dismayed...we spent 2 heartbreaking years on it and are now moving on to better things. It will be weird, afer having lived in Marietta for 37 years!
DR Cason, your girlfriend is very cute!
Does James Blunt sing any other song but "Your Beautiful"?
I suggest you adorn yourself however you please, dear EDI.
Ooohhh... I know two of the back-up dancers...
Welcome back, Vixmom!
And vibes for Elmore! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Computer-stay-fixed-forever vibes to vixmom:-*
Thanks! Did you get your shoes?
According to my email, yes, she bought the shoes.
Yes I did. Saddle shoes.
So you didn't get the leopard-spotted shoes after all?
RLP congrats on you new set... will Matt be flying in to help set it up? ;D
Just cos you like 'em or or you doing a 50's era play or party?
Because saddle shoes are the best shoes in the world. They're comfy and pretty. I don't know why more people don't wear them.
They are almost as pretty as my sparkly gold shoes that the four-year-old neighbor likes so much.
Let me say that I love Broadway shows....I love dramas, comedies, Shakespeare, musicals...and I welcome new shows and revivals and hope when the curtain goes up, that all of us are on the same page....but there is one show that NEVER fails to entertain me....from grade school to high school to college to professional productions. Here is an excerpt from DR TOMovOZ's homeland....there are many clips here if you are interested.
I am fascinated by Josephine's choppers, and Captain Corcoran seems a bit lite in the loafers...but it still all works.... ;D

Four-year-old Mae-Ling Goldstein is very easily amused.
Back from supper and a few other things.
Vixmom, yes, two new CDs are up for order at Kritzerland, one of them being The Brain From Planet X. Or did vixmom leave before seeing these posts?
What did you think about the lady finalists, MattH?
Four-year-old Mae-Ling Goldstein is very easily amused.
Just saying her name amuses you.
Earlier today, I was here on my futon and I could hear my brother out in the living room, singing a song of his own composition to amuse his cat Sassy. I went out there to make fun of him, but we ended up making it into a duet. Sassy was very amused. I think the song is called "The Fishsticks Chorus."
Sorry, MattH. I must have overlooked your post about the women finalists when I was rushing to retrieve the credit card.
Welcome back Vixmom!!
I think they should use your family for the next new reality series it seems it would be infinitely more amusing (and wholesome) than the Osbournes etc
vixmom - We tell the story of Vixter asking whether the Queen was my Mom every chance we get
I think they should just follow DR Sandra around for a reality show. The folks on the bus, the preschool children, Oops Reports, eating paper plates, the futon activity....
After days and days and days or playing with the computer websites, going to Best Buy, going to Staples etc I finally ordered a computer for the new office tonight. This was a huge step for me. Although I have committed to this, I guess it's the "oh wow, this is real" kind of moment. I thought about waiting, but I couldn't figure out what I was waiting for and I need to order research software and other stuff, so if I don't have the computer, I can't install it.
So, big purchase number 1 is done. This is going to happen. Wow!

Mae Ling Goldstein would be a character in the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Oy-Klahoma!
Glad you enjoyed it, DR VIXMOM. I love that show!!!
But that Josephine's choppers shore wuz big!
Do you have a Mae Ling address for her?
is that euphamism?
I'm very excited about it. The strangest thing is that no one at work has any connections to the people in my life outside the office. So I've been talking about this with a lot of people, but no one at the office has heard a word!
Vixmom, I haven't told them yet, but I'm opening my office in August. I'm taking the time to save up the money, buy everything I need and I'm studying immigration law. I am going solo and doing primarily criminal defense and immigration. There are no immigration lawyers here and there is a big need.
I did find office space and they are holding it for me until July.
WOW!!!! Big step and congrats!!!
~~~~~~VIBES~~~~~ [/size] for a roaring success!!
vixmom, if your question regarding the DVD is whether you should hold off until then, no, you should get the CD - the DVD is for achival and promotional use only - it will never be for sale or released.
Perhaps it's a reference to the prom mice in the high school version of Cinderella?
Hmmm.... I wonder if they would let Austin sing something from Hairspray? Hmmm.....
Oh............velly crever. ;D
Well kids, it's been fun. but I need to skedaddle..... Callie just came in and started meowing to tell me it's time to go upstairs and get some sleep. She's right.
Or can/would Juliana sing something from Millie?
So, big purchase number 1 is done. This is going to happen. Wow!
There's actually a pretty amazing actress named Nora Mae Lyng who was fabulous in the (unfrotunately) short-lived musical AMOUR.
Perhaps it's a reference to the prom mice in the high school version of Cinderella?
And what a lovely number of posts to come back to too!
*It's sort of ironic that such a piece-of-crap show like "Grease:YTOTIW" would be causing such a high number of postings. On a Sunday no less!
In any event, DR Sandra needs to put all of these experiences down on paper and put out a book! It would be hilarious!
