Well, you've read the notes, the notes went and did, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they'll be going, but instead of doing, they'll be mooing.
-
And the word of the day is: HETEROCLITE!
-
Welcome nine GUESTS. Who are you people? And if you're up this late why don't you join our merry troupe?
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
We're only about forty-something posts away from achieving a new all-time posting record.
-
39!

I had to read the word a couple of times to make sure I read it correctly (especially, in regards to the spelling). ::)

Good night George!

-
What happens now?
-
Welcome!

My profile says that my average number of posts is 587.76 per day - I'll struggle to maintain that.
-
And thanks for the welcome!
-
Welcome AnimalMagnetism. How did you find us and tell us a little about yourself. We are a merry bunch.
-
Next time.
-
I have to stay up seven more minutes - Tuesdays are the full computer backup to the mini-hard drive (as opposed to the nightly backup of my important files that I work on daily).
-
BK, I am writing a paragraph for a story I am working on but I am confused on LA geography...
Ventura Blvd runs east - west correct?
-
Welcome fifteen GUESTS! Who are you people?
-
Yes, Ventura runs east and west.
-
I do mine on WEdnesday evenings, so I can related
-
THanks BK, that is what I thought but my cousin who lives in San Rafael said otherwise....
-
I write for an escape. Someday I would love to be published but the thought also terrifies me.
-
Recently discovered a few new cousins in the LA and SF area through a genealogy message board. One of them is associated with HOrizons Foundation in SF area.
-
I am on my own frenzy!!
-
The character I am working on is involved with a woman in Los Angeles.
-
17 more to a record!
-
I must abed.
-
But maybe I'll hang around and see the new record.
-
iPod is on, playing pretty music, namely Bill Evans with Symphony Orchestra conducted by Claus Ogerman.
-
And one for Ogerman.
-
Those are excellent arrangements and pieces... ENjoy!
-
I am listening to Les Miz... Original Broadway cast
-
I like a little of everything for it makes life interesting and makes for writing even more entertaining.
-

When it comes to classic music I love Mozart. I particularly like his Magic Flute and Marriage of Figaro.

I shall bid you good night good sir and pleasant dreams to you!!
-
I can only imagine what will get posted the next several days!!
Amazing!
-
Well, I seem to have missed the big celebration...
-
Don't tell me that I am going to be my own frenzy here with two posts spaced several minutes apart...
-
I am a mere 70 posts away from becoming a HHW God. Can I do it this morning?
-
Not at this rate, said the blind man.
-
That was perhaps one of the strangest turns-of-phrases I've ever uttered...or typed...or in the cows' case, uddered.
-
If I keep posting every half a minute, I'll be a God within the hour.
-
And I frightened off his Global Moderatorship...
-
Cason, Cason, Have faith
Always look on the bright side of life (Spamalot reference)
-
Well, I got us to 3!
...and I'm-a still goin'!
-
Was that also not first a "Life of Brian" reference?
-
Yes, Eric Idle borrowed it for the Spamalot musical
-
YOu only have 64 to go to reach the clouds of godliness
-
Indeed -- those saucy Pythons.
That song was also arranged by Hans Zimmer for the soundtrack of "As Good As It Gets" with a full chorus.
-
yes...
Love the pythons!
-
Cason, you and Heather appear to be having fun in your avvie...
-
Yes, that was from my trip to AZ back towards the end of February -- we were driving down to Phoenix to see my best friend Alex in the show he was in at ASU.
-
But then again, she and I are always having fun - whether there's a picture to document it or not.
-
Looks like you are having a blast
Glad to see the smiles and that you enjoy each other's company!
-
As much I would love to say andhelp you reach your goal Cason, my eyelids are getting very heavy. Pleasant dreams good sir!
I am hoping you get the Full Monty part...
-
G'night! Sweetest of dreams to you!
-
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell, I think I'll leave the Goddening for another time...
-
Cillaliz, I hope you have a good, safe flight to Atlanta!
I know I won't be able to meet tonight...I'm not sure how I'm even going to get everything done before I go, since TNT just heaped something new on me at the last minute. Bummer! Argh.
-
I also notice that Cillaliz is very close to another milestone!
-
For ask bk day: What was the signifigance of the West Side Story question?
To me, it just meant that it is 1961.
Is it a song lyric?
-
Maybe today we'll hear about Cason and MONTY...

Just read that Freddie Francis died last week. He directed, among other things, one of my berst friend's films: THE CREEPING FLESH, as well as THE BRAIN (but not "our" BRAIN.) But mainly, he was a brilliant cinematographer.
From IndieWire:
Freddie Francis, 1917-2007
If you've seen even one frame of The Innocents, you know that it's one of the best shot films in Hollywood history...screen so wide it seems to go on forever, every nook and cranny expressively crammed or drained, always reflective of its characters' inner torments and external fears. The film's brilliant director of photography, Freddie Francis, Academy Award winner for 1960's DH Lawrence adaptation Sons and Lovers and 1989's Glory, has died this week at age ninety. With a distinctive and varied career as both a cinematographer of some of the world's best loved, most visually memorable films of the British New Wave (Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, Room at the Top) and beyond (The Elephant Man, The French Lieutenant's Woman), and as a director in his own right for Hammer Films and then at the Hammer-esque horror production company Amicus (Torture Garden, Tales from the Crypt), Francis proved himself one of our most adept film stylists. I'm unlikely to ever forget those shattering final moments in the The Innocents' gothic statue garden, the opening drift down from the tree brances of The Straight Story, or even Robert DeNiro's lightning and fire-streaked face as he blathers in tongues at the end of Cape Fear.
-
DR Edi - no problem, by the time I get to the hotel, check in, get settled, check into the conference and find some dinner, I'll be ready to just review the materials a little and go to sleep. Next time :)

Good morning Elmore!
Well I better run. I need to close up the suitcase, get dressed and hit the road. I decided to check my bag. I don't feel like pulling it around for 3 hours in Milwaukee. So, I won't have to worry about the plastic bag stuff.
-
Good Morning Iowa and the Upper West Side.
81!
-
I have a lot to do today so I will be brief.
I will also go to Moviefone.com and try to get tickets for Sacco and Vanzetti. I will keep Elmore posted.
-
Good morning, all! Barber at 9 am, then Toyland, then the NYPL, and a return home for a brief respite before heading out to catch FACE THE MUSIC at Encores!
DR JRand56, I hope my comment about your avatar wasn't too rude. I guess I'm so used to your robotic incarnation, as well as your current look on MySpace, that I really didn't recognize you in the avatar. It also appears a bit unfocused to me. If it's any comfort, I say much worse things about DRs MBarnum and Jose!

Wednesday morning greetings! I'm up and going through the motions of getting ready to go to work. When I see an indication in my work email that the water has been turned back on in the building, I'll think about actually going to work.

Actually it runs west and east.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. That is all.

Are you feeling better this morning, DR Michael S?

DR elmore - I may have missed a further update, but did you say you needed to buy another remote control? -If you do, just remember to keep the receipt... 'Cause as soon as you walk back into your apartment and set the bag down with the new one in it, you'll undoubtedly find the old one.
-Have you checked under the bed? On top of a row of CDs? On top of a row of books?
-
Well, that's about it for now.
All About Us is doing a press preview today. I don't have to be there, but I want to - at least to turn pages for the assistant conductor (who will be playing for today's presentation), and to see the presentation as well. Then after that, it's back to 42nd Street land for a few hours, then possibly back to All About Us for a bit depending how the schedule for the rest of day works out. -Everything is in the same building just one floor - and stairwell - apart. And then... I, too, may be attending the final dress of Face The Music tonight, but I think I'm actually in the mood for a movie - I have seen one since that all-day Oscar Fest a couple of weeks ago. We'll see.
Laters...
-
I shall endeavor to look more like my avatar, DR ELMORE! It is unfocused slightly to be sure, but at least it isn't stretched or squeezed. :P
-
Word from work: the water shut-off will be at 11am and will be in effect for at least 2 hours.
I am now officially on vacation for the day.
-
WooHoo! A vacation day! What are you going to do?
-
WooHoo! A vacation day! What are you going to do?
1) Play here at HHW
2) Clean up my desk & computer area
3) Continue working on the AAUW/Ohio conference & convention - mostly trying to keep the whole thing from imploding ::)
4) Have dinner and attend a church music program with my DH
5) Read magazines and relax

Question for BK:
DR JRand's WWS at Grauman's comment made me wonder--how long did a movie play at this theatre? Since it was such a prestige place to premier a movie, it must have also been in high demand. What was their run policy? Was everything set for a limited engagement after the premier? Or did they run like Radio City and cycle out films after the receipts dipped below a certain threshold?
-
Good mornin', all.
I thought being a heteroclite was a prerequisite for joining HHW?

Hope you will proceed with the sale/lottery of old CDs. I am also interested.

DR SwishySarah - Greatly enjoyed reading about your first year at JMU. Looking forward to future updates! :) The ACDA just finished up their convention in Miami a few weeks ago.

Off to school
Bye!
-
HEllo from beautiful Omaha, Nebraska. Someday I will go to an airport get on a flight and get where I was going as planned...but it isn't going to be today. It's not a big stressor, though because I had 3 hours in milwaukee. Right now our flight is delayed until 12:20 pm for mechanical problems. I could still make my connection so no sweat at this point. If the plane doesn't get here, they will put me on the 1:30 PM Delta flight. It's non stop and I'd actually get there earlier than if I get on the delayed Midwest flight. But it would mean no cookies...
-
I am now in The Hangar Restaurant eating wonderful blueberry pancakes
-
Just finished off five returns for foreign corporations. OK, two of them are inactive, but I got a sense of accomplishment, and it's a diffreent computer program than I'm used to using, so it was sort of fun.
Ya take your fun at work where you can get it.
-
I have never seen pancakes with this many blueberries!
-
Must. Have. Coffee.
-

-
The wireless Hangar restaurant? (almost a Mommie Dearest reference)
LOL I think the whole airport is wireless, but yes I'm wireless in the Hangar
-
Hmmm, where you check in they said the flight is delayed and won't leave Milwaukee until 10:30 AM. The board shows ontime. I hate that. I believe the people at check in because they were telling everyone that, but it's a little disconcerting to see the board saying on-time. I really don't want to go through security until I have to. There's nothing to do in this airport.
-
Will we never get to page two?
Always.
-
Better pay the check and figure out what's going on.
-
Just finished off five returns for foreign corporations.
Five tax returns. Five pages of postings at HHW.
Freaky coincidence?
I think not!
:)
-
Good morning, HHW!
I'd put today aside for cleaning out my office. that means culling all I can, organizing what I wish to keep, and generally bringing some order to my mess before Marvelous Matt does his big Switcheroo and moves my office over to the guest room. I swore I WOULD NOT get engrossed in HHW because YOU KNOW what happens. but alas, here I am. Procrastinating. sigh.
-
DR Cillaliz:
I vote for the cookies. Always!
:)
-
...I really don't want to go through security until I have to. There's nothing to do in this airport.
We'll keep ya company, DR Cillaliz!
-
culling all I can
I guess we can't tempt you with any out-of-print CDs, then? :)
-
So many new avatars!
JRAND, I quite like yours. Quite attractive and friendly. And it makes perfect sense that it's a bit fuzzy because you are MOVING, yes? I mean, being a dancer/choreograher and all. (My feeble attempt at a joke.)
DER BRUCER, yes, you look quite, quite fetching in your Pensive Thinker pose. But, now really, is it quite FAIR to other H/Ks to put up that avatar when you are unavailable after all? Hummm....
-
Good morning!
Beautiful morning here, but it's heating up again to a low-to-mid 80s high. No complaints. I'll be inside for much of the day doing various computer chores and, of course, watching some stuff recorded last night.
-
LOL DR JEANNE....yes, that's it!! Thanks. I am more stationary on my MySpace page to be sure.
-
Do they get much royalty visiting in Omaha?
-
I hope those who are experiencing pain or afflictions (DRs Michael Shayne, TCB, any others I've omitted) feel better soon.
-
My phone has not stopped ringing this morning. Lots of folks have time on their hands and knowing I'm retired, they want to chit-chat. Ah, well, glad to oblige even if it got me on-line a little later than usual.
-
I guess we can't tempt you with any out-of-print CDs, then? :)
Uh, actually, I already put in my request. Most of my Cds are in the living room. I'm only culling my OFFICE today!
-
Since I'm taking my friend to the airport at 12:30, I should be able to get home and watch the two LAW & ORDER: CI and SVU new episodes from last night.
-
Just a reminder that tonight's MEDIUM is a new episode.
Also new episodes of BONES, CROSSING JORDAN, and LOST for me.
-
My goodness! -- look at all you HHWers posting like fiends...
-
That long lost Jeanette MacDonald/Nelson Eddy classic:
When I'm Culling You
-
And, if I may brag a bit, one of my better projects in this house was the built-in in the living room. There was a recessed space that wasn't deep enough for books, but it just happened to be the perfect depth for CDs! Soooo, I had shelves installed with a cabinet below and it houses my CDs and all the stereo equipment quite nicely. I, of course, do not have a humoungous collection like many here, but it works for me.
-
That long lost Jeanette MacDonald/Nelson Eddy classic:
When I'm Culling You
singdaw, I think you missed most of the culling/declutttering posts. There are many of us here who are busy with these projects these days. Did you see the lyrics DR GINNY posted a month or so ago? They are to the Rawhide theme and hilarous. Weeding, weeding, weeding...
-
Today is my DH's day off. I am waiting for him to decide what he is planning to do and whether it will include me or not.
-
Any of you HHWers history buffs (yeah, yeah, I know -- you're all buff) ... in the nautical sense?
I'm working on a set design for Eugene O'Neill's one-act Thirst and it calls for a life RAFT, not boat, from an ocean liner from circa 1913. I need a picture! ... der Brucer work the net for me and cut and paste a picture of a 1913 life raft, please!
-
ABC NEWS (http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=2985388)
Police Nab Washington's Alleged Panty Thief
Five Garbage Bags Worth of Women's Undergarments -- Weighing 93 Pounds -- Found at Garth Flaherty's Home
By DAVID SCHOETZ
March 27, 2007 — The five bags of undergarments discovered by police at Garth Flaherty's Pullman, Wash., home weighed approximately 93 pounds and contained an estimated 1,500 pairs of women's undergarments — bras and panties of all shapes, colors and sizes.
It was enough for Pullman police to arrest Flaherty, 24, and declare that they had finally found their suspect after a months-long panty-thief mystery that targeted the Washington State University college town.
OK - any HHW gal match this collection?
der Brucer
-
DER BRUCER, yes, you look quite, quite fetching in your Pensive Thinker pose. But, now really, is it quite FAIR to other H/Ks to put up that avatar when you are unavailable after all? Hummm....
I'm always available for intellectual consulations (social intercourse, so to say).
der Brucer
-
To quote Graham Kerr:
First, you take a leek...
-
I am now set up in the food court area. I have to give Omaha credit, there are lots lof outlets near tables. The board still says the flight is on time, but I know better...the gate is empty, the plane isn't here, so it isn't going to leave in the next 6 minutes.
-
Weeding, weeding, weeding...
You are correct, DR Jeanne - I missed that. :(
Good luck with your own project!
-
ABC NEWS (http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=2985388)OK - any HHW gal match this collection?
der Brucer
I find this story hilarious!
(1) but, why, Der B, must this be a "gal"?
(2) the collection my mother left after she passed away may have come close. She never threw out anything!
-
Why, from DR der Brucer's avatar, you might almost imagine him IN a life raft...
-
I drove by a terrible accident when I left Sioux City. Someone had been going the wrong way on the interstate and smashed into the cement rail at the beginning of a bridge. It was right down the middle of the hood, the ambulance was leaving just as I arrived. An hour later the radio said traffic was still backed up and they were still trying to get the car out of there
-
Well, good morning all -- I'm up, I'm up -- thanks in part to the four billion fire trucks battling a fire in an apartment complex across the street up the block.
-
Good luck with your own project!
Thanks.
-
AHA! The website has my flight's estimated departure at 12:20 pm, but the board here still says "on time" what a joke. Glad I talked to the people at check in.
-
The weather here is cloudy with the sun blasting through every once in a while. I'm by the window, so I go from glasses to sunglasses, to glasses to sunglasses...
-
DR MISS KAREN...on the Titanic and I would imagine most other ocean liners in the 'teens, there weren't life rafts as we know them, but collapsible boats, with solid wooden bottoms and canvas sides that were pulled up and secured.
A little research on the Englehart Collapsible lifeboat should give you all you need to know.

The ones with a plethora of blueberries.
-
I'm still perplexed by the life RAFT business -- there is a photo of the only time they staged Thirst back in 1916 and the raft looks flat, like a raft and not a boat -- and the stage directions by O'Neill sound like they're sitting and crawling around on a raft not in a boat .. I will really have to research this further...

mmmm I just saw a might fine looking little pizza

MBarnum - your inbox was too full.
That is a continuing problem! ;)

Is there a SaladWorks there? I want a Spensa salad with feta. And make sure they actually add the feta. You might have to ask for it a few times.
If you catch a flight to Philly, I'll run down to the airport and pick it up from you.

I like to watch...
[a Being There reference]
Yeah, yeah, blame it on Being There -- bet it's a personal quote:
"I like to watch" ~ Naomi Dingdaw

I'm working on a set design for Eugene O'Neill's one-act Thirst and it calls for a life RAFT, not boat, from an ocean liner from circa 1913. I need a picture! ... der Brucer work the net for me and cut and paste a picture of a 1913 life raft, please!
No luck - cica 1912 life boats, but no rafts..
Here is a life raft from my youth:

Miss Karen, if you are the designer, you can jsut say that you've decided on a comic strip motif for the play. Then you just have to design a flat cut out of a raft for the actors to hold up in front of them.
Just tell the director that the comic strip motif will act as conflicting counterpoint to the themes of the play. Maybe you can work in Popeye in this somewhere, too.

DR Jane! How are you and how is DP Sherlock? I was going to send you an email last night, but couldn't figure out how to do it -- couldn't find the "send email to Jane" button on this site...
-
It snowed yesterday morning, what a shock! Then it rained all afternoon, including during my entire walk. At least I got out. Keith & I keep pushing each other out the door to get some exercise.
Sherlock is progressing nicely, which also means the less pain, the more he wants to play. Last night he kept biting his leg, elbow, or whatever and we didn’t get much sleep. Now I’m walking around like a zombie & fighting a cold.
-
Philly? I'll be happy to get to Milwaukee
DR Cillaliz, you've watched TAR enough times to know what to do--go up to the ticket counter and tell them you are in desperate, desperate need to get on a plane! Beg and cry!

No Salad works...sorry
Darn. I guess I'm going to have to walk to the one that's two blocks from here...

Well, I don't know if there was a policy or not, but WSS played there for a year, I believe.

Where's the cutline (which one is you)? Do I see a new avatar photo coming?
-
Hi, Jane!
Is Sherlock old enough to chew on a knucklebone? That might keep him occupied on chewing on something else long enough to let you have a nice long nap.
-
Hello AnimalMagnetism and WELCOME fellow Sagittarian (there are quite a few of us here including our host).
What part of England are you from? My mother was from the Manchester area & I still have loads of relatives over there. When I have more time to post we shall have to discuss English sweets, such as my favorite marzipan.
-
You may try again now DR Cason.
-
DR Cillaliz, you've watched TAR enough times to know what to do--go up to the ticket counter and tell them you are in desperate, desperate need to get on a plane! Beg and cry!
LOL, I went to the ticket counter 3 or 4 times in classic TAR style. No tears because even with the delay I will be able to make my connection. They were professional enough to have a back-up plan and tell me exactly what flight they would put me on if the flight became delayed to the point that i couldn't make my connection. I heard them doing that for everyone on the flight. It really reduces the stress to know you can get there, when and how. BUT Midwest has wide leather seats and chocolate chip cookies...I don't mind waiting
-
DiT-LOL. Sherlock is definitely old enough but he is too powerful a chewer to give him one.
-
Well, I don't know if there was a policy or not, but WSS played there for a year, I believe.
Hmmm...would they allow for other movies to premier there during the long run of another movie like WWS? It always seems like in those newsreels that lots of movies opened at Graumann's but how could that be if there were long running movies playing there?
-
More healing vibes to Sherlock

Last night's "American Idol":
I loved Melinda, Lakisha, Gina, and both Chris's.
I am in the middle about Phil and Blake.
I did not like Jordin's or Haley's songs.
I hated Sanjaya.

DR Jane, I talked to my brother Dan last night and he mentioned the snow down in Medford...quite a surprise in the midst of spring!
Hope you cold gets better as well as the plucky little Sherlock...Vibes are being sent by me and Dog Bosco.

Well, I guess I'll go get my salad. Hopefully with feta.

TOD:
bk, I am curious about your working style for your writing. Do you work from a detailed outline that you map out in advance?
I work from notes, but never an outline. For the Kritzer books I just had pages of notes about incidents I wanted to write about. The shape of the first book just happened and that became the template for the two subsequent books - prologue, part one (anecdotal and character), part two (the story), and an epilogue tied to the prologue. Interestingly, I'd originally written what became the central story of the first book early on as just an early chapter. When I went back and read it I knew I had to story of the book and I just moved it to what became part two.
For Writer's Block, I knew exactly the structure of the book (which is unconventional for a mystery), and again I had lots of notes but no outline - I don't like outlines. Many can't work without them, but for me it's like having blinders on - working without one means I'm not tied to sticking to it and every book I've done has taken me interesting places I would never have gone had I been working with an outline. I learn things as the characters learn them and that's the way I love to write.
With Rewind, again, I knew the exact structure and what would happen, and had lots of notes, but that was it.
The short stories, it was just basically the idea for each of the stories - I only had two going in, and the rest just came to me as I went along.
For the new book, I wanted to write a more conventional mystery, like the ones I grew up enjoying - no outline, but lots of notes. Again, the book has taken me places I never would have thought of with an outline.
So, in essence, I don't write the books, the books write me.
-
I need to accept the fact Keith really isn’t going to our 40th high school reunion with me in two weeks :'( and book a flight.
Now I will likely fly in on Friday night & return Monday morning, if I can still get a seat. That will give me enough time to see Keith’s mother, my brother, and attend the reunion activities. If I’m lucky I will also get to see a niece or two and my nephew.

I will be the director, too -- hmmmm, Popeye might work -- it does have O'Neill's triangular relationship thing -- so Popeye, Olive Oil and Brutus (...or Wimpy would give it an interesting twist -- ironic fate indeed) adrift on a raft at the mercy of the sea...

There were actual "life rafts", as opposed to inflatable "life boats" - but not on the Titanic. They were large rectangles of kapok with canvas mesh bottoms. (The kapok kept the raft afloat so you needn't worry about water getting inside.) People could get in side, and also cling to straps mounted to the kapok perimeter. The rafts had oars strapped to the side and an emergency pack of water, some food, and flares.

My question for ASK BK Day:
What is the first neighborhood or building you recognized in a movie....someplace you had been or seen.
That's an interesting question, and I'm not sure of the answer. I have the feeling it was a Fox movie, because location shots were always done in Westwood and environs. Or maybe it was a film in which Ocean Park Pier appeared.

I wonder where ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE premiered at ? And I wonder if June Kenney was in the audience?

I have completed watching season 1 of "Lost", which I started watching Sunday.
Incredibly riveting and suspenseful.
Not a complaint, but it's quite funny that we know no more now about the nature of the island than we did at the end of the first season.
What I had forgotten was my take on the young boy Walt and his abilities -- I believe his imagination manifested the polar bears in Season 1.
I love this show. And I'm fascinated by the producers' intent to tell the complete story and then end the series. I think I read somewhere they expect it to take five seasons. We're in season three right now.
-
Thanks, bk - very interesting!
It was interesting -- so good question, Naomi!
-
I think they missed the boat (pun on my mother's line of thought) on doing a Popeye/Julius Caesar crossover sort of thing.
"Et tu, Brute?" indeed....

Hi there. I'm original from the Midlands (near Birmingham) but now reside in Bristol. Being English, I have been partying like there's no tomorrow ever since the weekend in celebration of Sir Elton John's 60th birthday.
BK asked how I found the site... I navigated here from kritzerland.com - and I navigated there from another board, where he knows me as Southall.
I look forward to participating here once I get the lie of the land. It is probably an opportune moment to announce that I like cows - and frequently enjoy cow-based produce.

A question for ASK BK DAY -
Have you ever fired a gun?

Boy did TAR pay off today. Another guy on the flight has been waiting around. Of course he didn't know I was pretending to be playing TAR and was bound and determined to get on the later leaving but earlier arriving flight and dang if I didn't do it.
I talked to the very wonderful Kim, at the Midwest counter for about the 4th time today, being extremely polite and complimenting how well they handle this each time. She apparently misread something and thought that I'd only have 10 miinutes to connect in Milwaukee so she said "I booked you on the Delta flight early this morning, but don't tell them you came from here, I'm not sure if they are still cool with the transfer. So hide all the Midwest documents and just show them your id" (She must watch TAR too)
I said "How about I check in at the kiosk?" She said "Try it and tell me if it works"
So, I went to the kiosk and checked in. The Delta guy was very nice as I checked my bag. I am now on the 1:30 pm Delta flight that is a direct flight and will land 45 minutes sooner than my original flight would have. AND just as Kim handed me my new itinerary and documents, she got a call saying that the plane was within range. I could have made it. So I'm trading cookies for no plane transfer and an arrival 45 minutes sooner.

Well, if you're worrying about last night's late night posting frenzy, it actually goes by pretty quick. At least it did for me.
Reading it....or participating in it?
I have so much thrown at me from some many different quarters that it's becoming increasingly difficult to take it all in.
It all boils down to time management...and the more there is, the more time it takes.
I'll muddle through somehow.
-
DR DtM - and others who might be interested - I slogged through Act One of THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH, but I didn't give up.
Act Two is coming along nicely and I like it much better....so time will tell. I don't think Blair Brown is the perfect Sabina.....
-
I should think the How to Keep a Bookstore Open would be of great interest as well.
LOL, DR JRand! I keep trying to provide reality checks for her - we shall see.
Thanks, too, for the other info.
Bye for now.
-
AKA, The Royal Family?
Well, that too. Lots of material for the British press.

Taking a break from cleaning my office. Am making progress. This job is long overdue.
Had lunch and a nourishing piece of chocolate.
In a few minutes I'll resume work.

DR MISS KAREN this seems to be what DR derBRUCER was talking about....you can almost see it...

By jove, JRand, I think you've got it. The ones hanging on the wall behind the sailors...I will go to that site and see if I can download this photo -- if not, I may be back to ask you to see if you can email me an attachment of this photo. THANKS!

Actually, you were correct. It was quite easy to zip right through the last five or six pages of last night.

I drove by a terrible accident when I left Sioux City. Someone had been going the wrong way on the interstate and smashed into the cement rail at the beginning of a bridge.
At least they didn't go off the bridge like that bus of college kids here!

Southall! I was worried when someone said UK that it might be that bad boy tallguy come to make trouble.
Mr. Southall wrote that lovely review of the Shire CD that I posted yesterday, and we welcome him with open arms and closed feet.
We certainly do welcome him! Glad to have you aboard!

I remember loving her in it, but as I was watching it again when I made the DVD, I thought she rushed through too much (and I'm not talking about the parts she was supposed to rush through.) Also, that diva act she does at the beginning doesn't quite make sense.
The second act is fun, but the third is my favorite--I won't say more.
And congratulations for getting past the dinosaur's first line!

DR Jose - please say HI to DR Joy and tell her that we miss her!
Yes, please do!!

I've been whistling Bill Conti's theme from AN UNMARRIED WOMAN almost all afternoon. I wish this soundtrack was on CD.

Cilla you have reminded me why I should take an early morning flight instead of an early evening flight. I don’t want to arrive in L.A. very late if my flight is delayed. It is very difficult getting a non-stop flight out of here at a decent hour. :P Is this face a groan, a gagging expression or what-lol. For now I will call it a groan.

My partner Peter loves the reviews of a Villiage Voice fim critic named J Hoberman. When it turned out that he would be the one reviewing our film, Peter was on pins and needles.
We just got a courtesy copy of his review, which will be in the Voice tomorrow.

Just thought I'd check back in and say hello again.
Currently, I'm paging through some monologue books -- looking for ones that I can adapt to make good scenes for my reel. Since my mother and I have some knowledge of filming and editing, we decided that we'd do it ourselves rather than waiting for me to work on several student films, hope that they were of good enough quality that I'd LIKE to use them, and then hope that it was material that really showed off my range, then drop some dough to have someone edit the darn thing. :D
Not that I am going to tax anyone, but if any of you actors out there have any favorite monologues that are worth looking into, lemme know...

Hi there. I'm original from the Midlands (near Birmingham) but now reside in Bristol. Being English, I have been partying like there's no tomorrow ever since the weekend in celebration of Sir Elton John's 60th birthday.

Finally caught up on today's posts. (With distractions.)
Yesterday was kinda interesting at work. It started out normally enough, a bit slow because the weather was wonderful (everyone wants to head to the beach, not shop). Then we had a mini-crisis.
Andre, our cart wrangler during most of the week, got a call from home - family emergency - and had to leave. So I was asked a) if I could wrangle carts, and b) if I could stay an extra couple of hours. The answers were yes and yes.
So I got to get outside and enjoy the wonderful weather.
For dinner, I made us hamburgers, with fries, a wedge of iceberg (topped by thousand island dressing), and cole slaw.
I have no idea whatsoever about what dinner tonight will be. I suppose I should pull something from the freezer to thaw.

Yes, welcome to the par-tay, DR AnimalMagnetism!

DR Cason, you might want to check to see if there's anything substantial for Mozart in AMADEUS. I can picture you in that role.
-
OK, since none of you asked:
Sacco and Vanzetti
Directed by Peter Miller
First Run Features
Opens March 30, Quad Cinema
Two lambs to the slaughter, the Italian immigrants Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were executed in 1927 for a crime that they almost certainly did not commit, put to death by the state of Massachusetts alongside the man who actually confessed to murdering a shoe factory manager and armed guard in the course
of a 1920 payroll heist.
Not that anyone is ever altogether innocent: As foreigners and draft-dodgers and followers of the militant anarchist (and advocate of terror) Luigi Galleani, Sacco and Vanzetti were ready-made for sacrifice on the altar of America’s post-World War I red scare—blamed for a rash of Boston-area robberies, which Peter Miller’s new documentary pins on a Portuguese gang out of Providence. Their lawyer tried to put capitalism on trial as, in its way, the state did as well: The cops probably faked evidence; the judge discounted testimony, including a jailhouse confession. Boston Brahmins waged a civil war while American Communists jumped into the case to crate an international cause célčbre that obsessed and inspired artists as disparate as John Dos Passos, Woody Guthrie, Ben Shahn, and now Miller, who endeared himself
to old and neo-old leftists everywhere with his suitably stirring documentary on the history of the Internationale.
Only 81 minutes long, Sacco and Vanzetti is packed with information. Miller mixes archival footage and dramatized readings (Tony Shalhoub as Sacco, John Turturro as Vanzetti) with scenes from a 1971 Italian movie and a wide array of talking heads. Amazingly these include Sacco’s niece, a Vanzetti neighbor, and
the daughter of one of the men killed in the robbery. Front and center is people’s historian Howard Zinn who notes that, “I talk about Sacco and Vanzetti all the time.” It scarcely needs to be said how much this case has to do with contempt for foreigners, legal injustice, and xenophobic terror. I began my afternoon of viewing watching last night's LAW & ORDER: CI which had two mysteries, one concerning a murder of a judge's son (judge played by the always wonderful John Dossett). The other concerned regular cast member Julianne Nicholson's long missing father who may or may not be dead. This will be ongoing.
-
LAW & ORDER: SVU had a plot concerning the murder of a male prostitute. Tim Daly, another superlative actor, played an evangelical minister with ties to the prostitute. The story veered off into some unexpected territory and there was a surprise murderer I didn't see coming. A very enjoyable episode.

Speaking of target practice, I am off to treat myself to a shopping spree at Target.

I made it in time for the milestone- Congrats
-
Hello everyone
-
I completed my afternoon with the last film in the new W.C. Fields box, NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK. This was the second Fields movie I ever saw on a double bill with THE BANK DICK at a revival theater here in town that is no longer in existence.
The plot is one crazy thing after another with Gloria Jean songs, a wacky (and hilarious) car chase, Margaret Dumont living high atop a mountain, and a gorilla running rampant. I love it because it makes no sense whatsoever and doesn't care. There are continuity errors all over the place, and who cares? It's just fun all the way through.
The transfer has a few scratches and some other damage, but on the whole looks fine. Glad to have this in my collection now.
-

My friend Kieren feeds off these, they do make charming ( and disturbing) pieces

Congrats, Ron P, on your milestone

Edi-NICE REVIEW!! :)

I just saw an article yesterday say that the big main Jewish theology school in New York has announced that they will now accept openly gay & lesbian students.
(http://www.jtsa.edu/images/logos/jts_60.gif) (http://www.jtsa.edu/cjls/eisenletter.shtml)
Chancellor-elect Eisen's Letter to the Community
•March 26, 2007
To the JTS Community:
I write to announce that, effective immediately, The Jewish Theological Seminary will accept qualified gay and lesbian students to our rabbinical and cantorial schools.
This matter has aroused thoughtful introspection about the nature and future of both JTS and the Conservative Movement to a degree not seen in our community since the decision to admit women to The Rabbinical School nearly twenty-five years ago. Convictions and feelings are strong on both sides. Some will cheer this decision as justice long overdue. Others will condemn it as a departure from Jewish law and age-old Jewish custom. One thing is abundantly clear: after years of discussion and debate, heartfelt and thoughtful division on the matter is evident among JTS faculty, students, and administration. The same is true of professionals and lay leaders of the Conservative Movement. For many of us, the issue runs deep inside ourselves.
…
We believe that the law can be modified, and therefore should be modified, in accord with our society's changed knowledge about and moral attitudes toward homosexuality, knowledge and attitudes far different than those of our ancestors that guided their reading of law and tradition. Core Jewish teachings such as the imperative to treat every human being with full respect as a creature in God's image urge us strongly in this direction. We do not alter established belief and behavior casually. But we are convinced that change in this case is permitted and required, precisely in order to preserve the tradition charged with guiding us in greatly altered circumstances.

Good Afternoon!
Well, I decided to head back uptown after the auditions this afternoon instead of staying around for the run-thru of All About Us. I figured since I wasn't on the clock today anyway, I might as well enjoy the couple of hours of free time - and the absolutely gorgeous weather too!
And since I will be heading to Encores! tonight, I also wanted to drop off my laptop bag - and the laptop itself.

I never had any luck on other internet sites that revolved around theater. There's too much sarcasm and ill will. This is the only site I've been to, to be honest, where one's opinions are listened to and considered even if the reader violently disagrees with them.

Not that I am going to tax anyone, but if any of you actors out there have any favorite monologues that are worth looking into, lemme know...
Jerry's speech from Albee's "Zoo Story" - but it's probably done by too many (and probably not well).
Try stuff from Kirkwood's "P.S. You're Cat is Dead" (humor), Shaffer's "Amadeus" (high drama), or Cristofer's "Shadow Box" (contemporary angst).

Congrats to RLP on his milestone of 11,000 posts and also to Cilla for topping 8000

I cleaned the den this morning, so I'm going to have basically two hours before the start of BONES.
I could watch RIFIFI which came in the mail the other day. But I'll probably go with THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. Been looking to rewatch it for awhile. I'll save RIFIFI for this weekend.
-
So I'm off to watch SOMETHING.
WBBL.

Good news for Friday. I went to the box office (I'm at 16th Street & the Quad is on 13th Street) and was able to get 3 tickets for Friday evening at 7pm. At first they weren't even available at the box office but the very nice woman at the computer called upstairs and asked and they released the tickets for purchase. And I saved on the fees that would have happened on Moviefone.com.
They also have signs on the doors advertising the fact that Peter and Amy will be at the 7 and 9:10 showings. That's good. Peter is doing a Q&A with the person from NYCLU after the 7 and it says Amy will be there for the 9:10 show.

Oy and vey. Back from a good rehearsal and routining session with Joan, and then a little saying hello thing in Encino, then back home and have just wasted an hour dealing with this alumni association thing. As you may remember, I've offered to take over the organization, but that I want it to be run differently. Well, the organizations two agitators (both past presidents who've done absolutely zero) are making it "him against us" and trying to canvas board members (we have four yea votes thus far - and we know that the two agitators will vote nay) but if they get to everyone and convince them to leave everything status quo, then they're done and I'm certainly done with them. I've sent an e-mail to everyone saying that I have no prob with a no vote because, as was suggested (not by me) at the Monday meeting, if the vote IS no I'll simply start a new alum organization in conjunction with the theater department (who has never wanted to deal with the current board and organization precisely because of who's running it). The way it is now, it's completely self-serving - they want (but are unable to) do things that benefit THEM as performers. How stupid. They keep trying to tell people that I'll be the "king" and I keep saying someone's got to be. More importantly, I've said that it's not about ME - it's about the organization - I'm not self-serving at all. I just want to help the department and alums.
As I said in my mass e-mail - sadly, some things never change - and these two people are behaving just as they did in school - it's high school in the worst possible way.
Now I must try to write something before I leave for Santa Monica.
-
Congratulations DR Edisauras

Congratulations Ron. You must be way ahead of that other guy that used to post - Was it RLP?

Oy vey, MR BK.....there you are. I live it every summer. I am not optimistic for you.
YIKES they just took the Game Show Network away from Basic Cable and it is only available on DIGITAL cable.

Is there even anything good on The Game Show Network any longer?? I haven't watched in eons since they barely, if ever, show any of the old black and white game shows.

I just started reading the autobiography of Corinne Calvet. I am not a big fan of hers, particularly, but I am interested in what she has two say about her two husbands, John Bromfield and John Fontaine (aka Jeffrey Stone), both of which I have interviewed (and still keep in touch often with John Fontaine).
What a spicey read this book is! All those innocent and virginal looking performers you saw on the screen in the 1950s were anything but! LOL!

MBARNUM! Hello!!! I'm sorry, I was asleep when you greeted me last night!
DR singdaw- Nice to meet (?) you! Nice also that you appreciate my music rambling. I actually thought about going to the ACDA Nat. Convention in Miami, but I'm going to Europe in the middle of May, and all funding is going to that. However, the director of Choral Activities at JMU attended, and came back with all sorts of goodies and philsophies for the members of our ACDA chapter. I love ACDA :D
The weather in Harrisonburg has been phenomenal...it's strange to think that two weeks ago, we had a snowstorm, and it was 85 degrees and HUMID today! I'm afraid I may have spent a bit too much time laying on the quad, as a glance in the mirror shows VERY rosy cheeks.

I wonder if he lives in an Animal House...?
-
There were actual "life rafts", as opposed to inflatable "life boats" - but not on the Titanic.

ALL THE KING'S HORSES, AND ALL THE KING'S MEN -
ASSOCIATED PRESS (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,261864,00.html)
BAGHDAD —
Off-duty Shiite policemen enraged by massive bombings in the northern town of Tal Afar went on a revenge spree against Sunni residents there on Wednesday, killing at least 45 men, police and hospital officials said.
The policemen began roaming the town's Sunni neighborhoods on foot early in the morning, shooting at Sunni residents and homes.
…
Two truck bombs hit markets in Tal Afar Tuesday, killing at least 63 and wounding 150.

We were discussing POPEYE at work today (your government taxes at work). When I was a lad watching POPEYE cartoons, sometimes they called him Brutus and sometimes they called him Bluto. I wondered if somewhere down the line, they changed his name from one to the other (a la Steamboat Willie), or did everyone just keep changing is name back and forth whenever they felt like it?

Back from a nice run around the Griffith Park area...not a cloud in the sky today.
Is the observatory open now? Last time I drove up there...so as to see the location where the finale of WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST was filmed...the observatory was closed for remodeling for a couple of years or something, I think. If it is reopened then I must snap photos and see the spot where Sally Fraser once stood.

I believe TCB may have something to say about getting to the end of a page. (an old Oscar Wilde joke)
Or was that the bottom of a page?

Um....no? Sorry if I took the glory.
No worries -- I was hoping I wasn't going to have to schlog through those last couple of posts alone!

It has reopened -- but for the past month and a half or so, it's been reservation only to go up there. However, today they had taken the big guard station down, so I don't know if the crowds have ebbed yet...

Because other people like me who like bad performers are voting for him.

DR Laura ~ Have you been text messaging again? Hmmmm?
-
Hello from Atlanta and the official hotel for the Ohio State Basketball team. Had a very smooth flight here, got right to the hotel and got my 862 pages of materials for the next 2 days!
Anyway, the Ohio State Basketball team is staying here so I imagine that Friday will be a zoo with all the fans around. They are already here but I haven't seen them yet.
-
I am feeling very fat today because there are too many full length mirrors in this room! So, since my bicycle will be tuned and ready to be picked up from the shop on Monday, that will be the official beginning of my diet. Not a moment too soon
-
Congrats to Ron and Cason and a very late congrats to DR Laura.
-
Welcome to godhood, DR Cason.
Of course, you've got to get to 740 posts (or something like that) to join us on the Top Fifty Posters page (http://www.haineshisway.com/community/index.php?board=4;action=mltop).
(I really do believe the young amongst us need firm goals set for them to succeed in life.)
-
I better get to studying. It's going to be a long day tomorrow and I have lots to learn.
Night all

I'd better get dinner on the table.
Poached chicken breasts.
Rice (cooked in the poaching liquid) with chopped mushrooms.
And those spinach pancakes have given me an idea.

Hey, they are the Big 10, I'll cheer for them!
Actually, I will, too, and I told that to all the Buckeyes at work on Monday.

My DH Richard and I went out to dinner at a casual Greek place here in town - yummy Greek salad and gyros. Then, we went to a program at the Episcopal church about Holy Week liturgy and music. It was quite interesting.
-
Was there feta on your salad? (a Dan (the Man) reference)
-
DR MusicGuy -- my DH is checking the weather. Do you want to play tomorrow if there is a good report?
-

Oh, yes, LOTS of feta!

Do I get a pair or wings and a chorus of seraphim?
"....and every time a bell rings, little boo-key gets his wings and 30 minutes with a seraphim." "that's right honey,.... that's right!"

DR MusicGuy -- my DH is checking the weather. Do you want to play tomorrow if there is a good report?
Yea, I'm actually free tomorrow morning, if this damned wind would ever die down some!! It has still been annoyingly windy here in mid-town today! :(
I'd need to know how early he'd be wanting to meet..... at Williams field, right??

DR Edi - I'd love to buy a ticket to Sacco and Vanzetti if it would help you out, but I'd hate to have it go to waste and not have someone use it. Of course I could buy one for the 1:00 pm show or something like that. Any suggestions?
-
Ok, now I really must sign off.

Re: LOST
No spoilers here, but I think I already see where tonight's episode is going.
-
Miss Karen, I enjoy Wing and Mrs. Miller, too. I like bad performers.
Yesssss! Wing!!!
-
SwishySarah!!! :D Hi.
-
Yesssss! Wing!!!
You are the only other person I know who understands!
-
Hi, Jane!!!
-
Having just paid attention to my avatar picture, I realize that I look ridiculous. This was Halloween, and I'm making a sad face because it rained the entire time.
Maybe I'll get a happy picture. I just sort of like myself as a cat, :D
-
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
Congratulations and WELCOME to the clouds!
-
SS I’m so delighted to hear all your good news & Maya’s. Please tell her hello from me.
-
Oh, and you look cute as a cat.
-
How about the "Zowie, Wowie, Need More Cow Bell" Page 18 Dance" by Christopher Walken
I actually have that clip at home someplace!
-
Which God do I get to be around here?
Apollo? Bacchus? Ares? Hephaestus?
Congrats on becoming a god... Welcmoe to the clouds!
-
Who is Arnold Brockman and why is he just watching? ... get to posting, man!
I saw Arnold brockman at the theater last night. Karen Akers did her Kander and Ebb cabaret performance
-
LOL -- Shoot, I wish I knew how to post pictures cause I'd put up your little "Stay Puff Marshmellow Baby" photo here...
I also wish you could ;D
DR & newest God Cason, the baby angel is darling.

Are you feeling better this morning, DR Michael S?
Thanks for asking the doctor today said I have a pinched nerve and will need an MRI to see the extent of the problem, but it will have to wait until I get back from Montreal. In the meantime I have painkillers to help me through.
-
Thank you, DR Cason.
I remember Jose said I rose quickly to god status but I do not recall the exact time.
-
Well, the water came back on at my workplace about 3pm, so it looks like I'll have to go to work tomorrow. My surprise vacation day has been delightful.
'night!
-
SwishySarah, that is a a beautiful schooll
Your avatar is also very nice!
-
DR Michael S-I had a pinched nerve in my neck and it was extremely painful. At the time I didn't have anyone to take me for an MRI (I need drugs for that) & will always wonder if there is anything else wrong with my neck. Be sure to have the MRI.
Healing vibes!
Have fun in Montreal.
-
I better get to studying. It's going to be a long day tomorrow and I have lots to learn.
Night all
Good luck Cilla!
-
Haha no, Dr. Haney is the bane of my existence, my music theory professor, who has the personality of a mop, and the voice of Ben Stein. I'm sure he'll be sitting in his office composing music that sounds like a car accident.
Does he publish under the name of Andrew Lloyd Webber?
Back from Encores!
-
I stayed late tonight to catch up with DR SwishySarah.
‘night.
-
Elmore, I'm having a brain fart. Did you say whether you'll be joining our merry group on Sunday?
-
Sarah I’m sorry I was so excited to see you I left the h off the end of your name. I returned to my posts and corrected my error.
-
They keep trying to tell people that I'll be the "king" and I keep saying someone's got to be. More importantly, I've said that it's not about ME - it's about the organization - I'm not self-serving at all. I just want to help the department and alums.

Hello and good night, DR Jane.

I think I left you on hold, DR FJL. I'll call you tomorrow.

Caught up on all the postings curious to see how many there will be when i sign on again tomorrow.
Good night all
keep posting away
-
What a frenzy! I will never catch up...I'm still housecleaning and have to get up early tomorrw.
More reviews are coming in. My favorite is from the Gay City News, who not only comment on the film, but the attire and hairstyles of the interviewees!
http://snipurl.com/gaycity
-
Hi Cilla...I will have to catch up in NY to hear about your trip. Greg was trying to talk me into going back into town to meet you but I coudn't leave him alone with all this!
On the plus side, the cat sitter did not leave the house screaming during her orientation!
-
Oh it's no problem Jane! Sorry I wasn't here to chat with you some more, I've been beating the life out of my theory homework, to no avail. Ah, well.
I mean, during the commercial breaks of "A League of Their Own," of course.
Spoo!
Dakota- THANKS!
So my dorm sits square between a set of train tracks, and the highway 81. All night, the sound of semi trucks speeding past lulls me to sleep, and every morning, I'm woken by the sound of a train groaning past. My roommate (with whom I am NOT friends) just turns to me and says, "Sarah, it's bad enough that I have to sit here and listen to the highway and a train. In the morning, could you PLEASE make sure you walk slowly so your flipflops don't make too much noise? I mean, honestly."
Seriously?
I have 39 days left.
-
Also, it is very unfortunate for both myself and MORESO for her, that she has developed, over the past few months, a body odor similar to the smell of a dirty diaper. Sorry to be complaining, but I could write a book about things she's done this year to make me crazy.
-
Ah, yes. The lovely college years.
-
Congratulations to newest god DR Cason. Welcome to Valhalla. Pull up a cloud and relax!

So, was American Idol on again tonight? How did my favorite bad performer do?
-
I finished SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM tonight enjoying it as much as I always have.
-
So, was American Idol on again tonight? How did my favorite bad performer do?
Safe, of course.
-
Next I put in the James Bond film THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. I had forgotten that it was Lulu who sang the title song.
This is the Special Edition of the film released some years ago. I haven't bought any of the recently released Ultimate Editions. I'm going to wait for the Blu-ray version before I buy these again. They have not even been announced, but I have to think they're coming now that CASINO ROYALE sold so many copies on Blu-ray.
There is definitely dirt on this old edition's transfer, and the sound is mono (as in the theater), but otherwise, the color looks just fine. It'll do until a high definition version is released.
-
BONES had an acceptable episode tonight involving a five year old corpse found in a cemetery which hadn't been used for burial in more than fifty years. This investigation led to discoveries of grave robbing and other crimes. There were actually only two viable suspects, so I didn't consider it much of an accomplishment to have guessed who had committed the murder.
I could have done without the sex scene between Angela and Hodgins (we know they're together without the scene), but I sure did love all of the scenes with Stephen Fry tonight. He was signed for three episodes this season, and I wish they'd continue him as a recurring character.
-
CROSSING JORDAN had a plot involving the murder of an expectant lesbian mother and the kidnapping of her newborn baby. OK mystery but other side plots took a lot of attention away from that primary case. And Jordan's ongoing health crisis is just ridiculous. I could understand maybe SOME denial if the sysmptoms seemed to be subsiding, but when the problems are continuing and are getting in the way of her doing her job, well, it's just not in character for her to jeopardize others.
-
LOST had a wonderful episode tonight and one which I think anyone could enjoy even if he wasn't a regular viewer of the show.
And how great was it to see old friends from previous seasons alive even if for just a moment! And a great way to work in other regulars like Jack, Ben, and Juliet, too.
Well done, writers!!!
-
As for the IDOL elimination, I wasn't surprised with the three lowest vote getters nor with the person eliminated. Not a great performance this week and when you admit to the audience you blew it on performance night, you pretty much sign your walking papers.
-
I had an early morning today, so I'm turning in earlier than usual toinight.
Good night!

Possible AI SPOILER ...
All your text-messaging did the trick -- he was not in the bottom three..
-
Oh, I sure hope they ask you to give a speech :-*
Because you know how much I enjoy that! ::)
-
Oh, and Sanjaya was HORRIFYING last night.
Didn't see the show but I did see a clip of him on the news, sporting his faux hawk! :o

Music theory makes my brain hurt.
Music thing was one of the few classes in college I never missed. I loved it! Oh, those hypomixolydian melismatic semi-quavers...ohohohoh!

In that case would his composition have an instrumental brake?
Instrumental brake drums.

That's so generous, Cillaliz! But don't worry about it...we're bringing in lots of ringers...errrr...patrons, so I hope it will do the trick to getting us extended another week.
How do you find Atlanta? (Fly south...)

Congratulations to all those milestone-ees, especially to HHW Baby God, Cason!

Good Evening!
What another great day this has been. A little weird at times, but still great.
-
Amy - I don't know if you're still looking for Avenue Q for this Sat matinee, but they seem to have released some nice seats for that on telecharge.com, but full price though.
-
DR Cason - Welcome to the Clouds!
-As for "Casonous" - that sounds more like an adjective to me - "Hmm... That flower looks Casonous to me." ;)
-
Amy - I don't know if you're still looking for Avenue Q for this Sat matinee, but they seem to have released some nice seats for that on telecharge.com, but full price though.
DR edisaurus - And to piggy-back on DR FJL's post... My friend just got the house seat request back from company management. Alas, the house seat allotment is already gone for this weekend, but they did note that the Premium Seats had been released, and suggested that you just check at the box office for tickets.
-
As for tonight's invited dress rehearsal of Irving Berlin's Face the Music...
I had a wonderful time. A very fun and funny presentation. A great cast, good choreography, and good score. Is it Top Shelf "Irving Berlin"? No. But there are some great tunes - "Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee", "Manhattan Madness" - and there were some great jokes too. Some nice, honest, unforced laughs.
-
Jose - Which seat did you end up using?
-
And at intermission I happened to run in John Kander - who was very happy not to be listening to his own music for a change ;). We had a nice little chat, and I was able to introduce (former) DR Jason to him - Jason was my seatmate for the evening.
And Mr. Kander had a very interesting observation: "You know, I think it was a big mistake when "Musical Comedy" started to be called "Musical Theatre". People started to take themselves too seriously."
-
BK, suppose . . . someone . . . were to attempt a brief review of Kurosawa's "High and Low" in the form of a new lyric to the Schwartz and Dietz song "High and Low."
How would it go?
-
Jose - Which seat did you end up using?
Jason and I took the pair on the aisle, and my roommate too the single. All three seats were very good. Thank you. Again!
-
Any time!
-
Well, it's another 10-6 day for me tomorrow... and 9(ugh!)-5 on Friday... So...
Goodnight.
-
*And I have to add that Jason looks great - he's lost 25 pounds! His job is going well, and his schedule is starting to settle. And he also got called in to audition for an upcoming off-Broadway show! -The casting director remembered him from an audition he gave three years ago! :)
-
DR Jose, do you think you could convince DR Jason to post here again?
-
This morning I went for a hike, and this is what I saw:
-
Oh, and you look cute as a cat.
I first read that like the way people say "cute as a bug" (the short version of "cute as a bug in a rug") -- and it made me laugh -- now I think I will start using that instead of "cute as a bug" -- tell folks "you're just cute as a cat!"
-
You should have been born with them. Karen ???
der Brucer
I don't think so! ... oh, that's a period, not a comma -- never mind...
-
And I am happy to report that I got through "Fat Man Pass" with no trouble:
-
DR Jose, do you think you could convince DR Jason to post here again?
It's a very distinct possibility. DR elmore asked him about that too earlier tonight after the show, so... He's needed the time to get things in order as it were, and now that he has...
-
DR SwishySarah - As for theory... What's the difference between an German A6 chord, and a French A6 chord? And how does each one resolve?
;)
-
Tonights' AI :
Is it just me, or can that Gwen command a stage?! I love her! Watch and learn, Sanjaya, watch and learn (if that is even possible...) ... and I can live with who got the boot tonight -- he totally blew it last night...
-
DR Cason - Welcome to the Clouds!
-As for "Casonous" - that sounds more like an adjective to me - "Hmm... That flower looks Casonous to me." ;)
