Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a whirlwind of words, and now it is time for you to post until the whirlwind cows come home.

Will we never get to page two?

That would seem very fitting! Is there only one, the one on Fairfax?
We are driving a yellow PT Cruiser, so it looks like a cab!
I loved these cars when they came out, but am such a Toyota loyalist that I couldn't bring myself to buy it. But it's fun to have one on this trip. The Dollar Rent-a-Car was full of them!

DVD: Still watching Series One of "Deadwood"

Vinyl: Boney M's Chistmas album. (Just transfered it to CD). Check out the CD price on Amazon etc. CRAZY

Yes, Fairfax just above Melrose. What time? Sixish? I'll make reservations.
-
In my DVD player: Rick Steves' "European Christmas." Finally. ::) I actually taped this off of TV and only recently found out that the library owned the DVD. :) Also, "Brother to Brother" from Netflix.

If it could be 7ish that would be better. A writer friend is having a lunch for us in the garden courtyard of his apartment at noon, so we probably wouldn't be hungry at 6. (You would be most welcome at the lunch, too!)
I'll have to remember some of the yummy G.C. dishes I've heard described on HHW. It sounds like a place where you need to bring your appetite!
-
No DVD, etc. player, but in my computer, a playlist of walk-in music for Sacco and Vanzetti. I usually burn these for screenings but I stopped by to scope out the theatre tonight and they said they didn't use walk-in music. Oh well...
-
In my CD player at work: three CDs from BK! Debbie Gravitte's "The Alan Menken Album," "The Burt Bacharach Album" and Twiggy's solo album.
-
Thanks to FJL and Vixmom and the Vixter for going to our film! I forwarded all your comments to Peter; it means a lot to him.
I would say that FJL was a man of good taste, until the peanut butter and diet coke comment. Ergggggg... But then again, I haven't tried it!
-
BK, so do you know anything about the Wilshire Ebell Theatre?
-
Well, I must be going to sleep now. Good night, all!
-
Me, too. My DH is already fast asleep!

I'll have to remember some of the yummy G.C. dishes I've heard described on HHW.
The green beans!

Listening to BBC Radio 2 right now - Alan Titchmarsh.
As Time Goes By tonight, followed by The Vicar of Dibley, a lesser-known Britcom.
Nothing on the schedule for tomorrow although we do have Rosemary and Thyme to watch (taped from Tuesday).
Anthony has dance class on Saturday.
TDF has come through again. I have been wanting to see Coram Boy, the new show coming over from the National Theatre in London. Well, it appeared on TDF last night and a friend who watches the list let me know. I was able to get a ticket for Monday, April 16th. It will be a busy theatre week or two as the season winds down. I'm seeing LoveMusik on Thursday the 12th, Coram Boy on the 16th and Deuce on the 18th. I am still looking to see Legally Blonde before it opens. I also may try to change my subscriber ticket for 110 in the Shade for an earlier date. I am scheduled to see it in June but I want to see it earlier. I love the show and Miss McDonald (in spite of her missing some performances) so I'm excited about Simple Little Things and more.
Gotta go do the bowl trick.
Later, gaters.

TOD:
As of now nothing, but since I am driving up yo Orlando this weekend I am sure that there will something in the car cd player.

Last night, DR JoseSPiano wrote:
We can just dance in our heads.
Or, to quote Robin Williams in The Birdcage, "...but you keep it all inside."
Then, he wrote:
Can you say "Belgian Waffles"?
I'm still trying to figure out if he was referring to a menu or his room steward.
-
DR Edisaurus, congratulations on yet another great review! :)
-
Well, DR Ben, it's just you and me...and your oatmeal bowl.
Looking forward to hearing all your impressions on this rash of new Broadway openings!

There must be something to that. I had a friend in college, a local legend as a record collector, who would always order a peanut butter (ice cream) and Budwine (local soft drink similar to a cherry cola) whenever he would go to The Varsity.
I bet Rodzinski remembers The Varsity!

Good morning, all! I had a wonderful day at my alma mater, Miami University, yesterday and it will take me another day to catch up on all that I missed yesterday on HHW.
I had a lovely lunch with the theatre dept. chair, some faculty, and students, then I spent a lovely afternoon at the Music Library catching up on books I'd missed, researching some music for a piece I want to write for my dad, and looking at the new Crtitical Edition of Verdi's LA TRAVIATA.
After that, I attended the opening performance of the joint opera-theatre production of CANDIDE, in its 1973 version. The performance was yet yet ready for the public, more a final dress rehearsal. I think by tomorrow's performance it will be in good shape, but there were glitches in sound, some poor notes from the band, and the musical director screwed upsome of the timing with slow cues.
On the plus side, good performances from Candide and Cunegonde, the Old Lady, and several others. The young man playing Voltaire was a singer who needed help finding his broad side (my friend Lewis Stadlen never had this problem!), and I liked his Wise Old Man the best. Also, the design is clever, and there were some good things that will only get better during the run.
TOD: Nothing to report.
-
Has anyone ever done the Varsity Drag...in drag?
If you break a heel, you could die.
-
DR Elmore - I'm so glad you had such a nice day in Oxford yesterday and that you were pleased with Candide. The last musical DH Richard and I saw there left a lot to be desired, but it was a long time ago and personnel has probably changed.
I'm on my own for dinner tonight...

Good morning!
Partly cloudy and much cooler here today. I had to drag out the sweat pants instead of shorts to do my workout in this morning. I turned my heat off weeks ago, but may have to give in and turn it back on depending on how high it gets in the next day or two.

DR George, if you didn't know that UGLY BETTY and GREY'S ANATOMY were going to be reruns, it wasn't due to my lack of trying. I posted that information yesterday morning. I've been trying to do this regularly since we're in the period right now where programs occasionally insert a new episode amid mostly reruns.
This week, I've found some thing new every night to watch though my DVR has been given mostly a break the last few weeks since sweeps month ended.
For news of tonight's slate of shows, see next post!
-
And I use walk-in music (although I didn't know it was called that) for my presentations here at the library.
Hmmm maybe I should see if I can use walk in music for a closing argument ;D
-
I'm just discovering Grey's Anatomy, so it wasn't a re-run for me. It was nice to see Debra Monk, even though her part was very small
-
The NBC and CBS slates are ALL NEW episodes tonight, so that means new episodes of GHOST WHISPERER, CLOSE TO HOME, NUMBERS, RAINES, and LAW & ORDER. (The new game show IDENTITY is also a new episode but I don't remember anyone here saying they watch it.)
ABC's shows for the first two hours are reruns. I assume 20/20 is new.
Fox has a HOUSE rerun and a new WEDDING BELLS (is this the last episode they're going to show?) on the schedule.
-
I'm just discovering Grey's Anatomy, so it wasn't a re-run for me. It was nice to see Debra Monk, even though her part was very small
If you haven't rented the first two seasons on DVD, you really should. There's a lot of interesting and wonderful backstory to catch up with.
Next week's GREY'S is a clip show of highlights from the show's three seasons on the air. Don't know if you'll want to watch it if you want to see the shows in their complete form. I'm sure that show will give away a lot of the high spots.

(The new game show IDENTITY is also a new episode but I don't remember anyone here saying they watch it.)
I remember a very specific declaration of "like" from DR Jennifer who, IIRC, said it's her favorite and that she loves to play along with the contestants.
It's an interesting show. If anyone out there isn't into any of the show's competition, give it a try. See if YOU can match up the occupations with the actual people on the stage.

To me, of all thinks "yucky", this one is the "yuckiest."
But "yuckiest" is too plebeian a word to describe it...so, the "yuckilicious" appellation seems more fittin'.
(That would be my story, at any rate!) :)

I tried it once. I couldn't get into it. I liked the show this replaced better. "The Mob" on the show was always made up of interesting folks, and I loved pitting my knowledge of trivia against them.
I really did not remember DR Jennifer mentioning it at all.

I think the word would describe something that seems yucky (such as the combo of peanut butter cup ice cream and diet coke) but is actually quite delicious to the tastes of the person using the word.
Perhaps it could branch out to describe some people, such as if a friend knows her mate is yucky or slimy or sleazy but is still totally attracted, in which case the slimy boyfriend would (to that person) be yuckilicious.
I am, of course, totally making this up as I go along. :)
-
I would explain how "yuckilicious" could in some cases be applied to certain body parts, but this is a family site.
Please censor this post, BK, if I've crossed a boundary of taste.

I wonder what DR François thinks of "freedom fries"??

if I've crossed a boundary of taste.
I'm sure that this has never EVER happened on HHW before.

Spoo and double spoo, I just googled "yuckilicious" and there are 19 google hits on it. So I didn't make up the word.

DR FJL, I tried typing "yuckilicious" into Google. It has been used on the web before.
I might add, by people who have interesting ideas about the use of the English language. [!]

And, DR FJL...you are uncredited as the author of the liner notes on the Starfighter album. I did enjoy them. Too bad your work as librettist can't be represented on CD.

I've been our running errands with JoAnn, including a trek to the larget supermarket I've ever encountered. After that we stopped for lunch, and I had the best chicken pot pie I've encountered since Barrymore's closed.
DR Ginny, I didn't think about the Easter weekend when I planned this trip and I'm still waiting for cousins to get back to me about family time. I feel totally disorganized. I'm sorry.
-
I'm up, I'm up, and trying to de-groggify. Very gray out.
-
I do have a title for the new book - I don't always have the title when I start writing (but do shortly thereafter), but, like the Kritzer books, I had this one right away. I wanted it to have a certain feel to it and I like it - but I ain't talkin' yet.
-
The Wilshire Ebell - the name has always sounded very exotic to me, but I'm not sure I've ever been there in all my years, with the exception of attending some film poster auctions, which I don't think were actually held IN the theater, but adjacent to it. The Ebell was the home to many ballet companies and opera stars and concerts.

...And after breakfast, I asked the front desk if there was a drug store nearby - I needed to buy a pack of razors. They said there's one just down the street, just past the first light. -Oh, you want to walk? Don't do that, it's a bit far. Just take the courtesy shuttle van.. Well, since I don't know the area, I went ahead and hopped in the van. And about one minute later I was at the Walgreen's. -Thanks for driving me here, but I think I'll just walk back.
And I had a nice time perusing the aisle's in Walgreen's - they had already started marking down the Easter candy and decorations. And I had a nice walk back to the Inn. -Although, I think I discovered why the front desk had suggested not walking to Walgreen's: the sidewalks are scarce along Post Road.

In other news...
I'm at the theatre, and we started our "10 out of 12" about an hour ago. Which also means I have yet to play a note on the piano. Ah, the joys of tech. And a costume tech, no less!

BK, it was I who mentioned THE SNIPER....what a nifty thriller...I am glad you thought so as well. And I am happy to know that I was not the only one who jumped a couple of times during that movie! Whew!
You will also be happy to know that Leslie Parrish looks beautiful in each and every one of those TV shows! Of course it would be difficult for her NOT to look beautiful!

Golly.....this is a set-up post if ever I saw/read one.
Given the source, however, it would be unseemly to take advantage.

Oh... And at this point and time, could your documentary be considered for an Academy Award nomination? Or was it part of last year's possible nominees?

Singdaw: BK had a dog for a short time when this new site was developed. The photos have never been updated.
Yes, BK was up for a pet at the time. But "Luckie" was apparently a very traumatized pooch. Despite his best efforts to let "Luckie" know he was welcome and safe, "Luckie" had too many indoor accidents.

Yes, our little JSP is a true connoisseur...he sees cuisine as art....Cuisin(e-)art, as it were!
I'm a KitchenAid man myself.

DR singdaw - Dressing Room does not start serving dinner until 5:00... -Just FYI.
-
...And it's flurrying outside now.
-
On a binge of a snow white Dove....
So... Do you think Stevie Nicks would get dizzy doing all that spinning?
-
And break is over.
-
Dressing Room does not start serving dinner until 5:00.
Damn them! Damn them all to hell!
-
But before I go...
I've been getting e-mails all morning about how many of the reviews for The Pirate Queen have mentioned Lestat.
-I guess the show will live forever.
:-\
-
Listen to your heartbeat and dance.
-
I started painting and my son took over. This is nice.
We bought light blue/gray paint, and it looks white. I will probably have to get another color.
-
Damn them! Damn them all to hell!
We could always hang with Eartha for a bit before dinner. ;)
-
But we will use up what we have in his room (which is where the water pipes come into the house and therefore has a hole from the ceiling down to the floor).
-
Lestat. -I guess the show will live forever.
Except for the cast recording. >:(
-
We may all be able to see Miss Priscilla do the weather. At the KTIV Web site they are streaming the weatherman right now.
KTIV Home Page (http://www.ktiv.com/).
I've bookmarked the site and plan to return on April 16th at just before 1pm (EDT), since Priscilla will be on at noon, (CDT).
Hoo and Ray!
Thanks, DR Ben! I've removed my post in which I asked if they have streaming video. Should have read all the posts first! Anyway, April 16 is my day off, so I'll "tune in" at noon, too!
-
DR RonP, you have a good memory. Yes I do like the game show IDENTITY. It's not TAR love, but out of the batch of game shows that are on the air now I am most amused by this one.
-
DR singdaw - Eartha mentioned "River House" - ???
-
I'm a KitchenAid man myself.
If when you come to SW Ohio, I'll take you to the factory store in Greenville (http://www.kitchenaid.com/custserv/experience.jsp).
-
Although, according to their website, the River House Tavern (http://www.riverhousetavern.com/) doesn't start serving till 5:00 either.
-
DR singdaw - Eartha mentioned "River House" - ???
Which also doesn't start serving until 5:00 PM. :(
-
Spoo.
-
Oh, hell...let's just go to IHOP. :)
-
when you come to SW Ohio, I'll take you to the factory store in Greenville (http://www.kitchenaid.com/custserv/experience.jsp).
Now THERE'S a field trip to sink your teeth into! :D
-

Hmm... And if I could time that out with a trip to the All-Clad warehouse sale... Hmm....
:)

But before I go...

What does one have to do with the other....or is it, like...ummm...some "comparison" thingie, quality-wise?
-
It's lunch time....and nary a soul is stirring toward a door to go eat.
I'm torn, myself, as to what I'd like to dine upon.
No one has country-fried pork chops....and that's what I'm a-hankerin' for.
-
No one has country-fried pork chops....and that's what I'm a-hankerin' for.
Well, it's Good Friday. No meat.
-
Remember when Good Friday and St. Patrick's day coincided a few years ago, and the NY Diocese gave a special dispensation...
-
Well, here I am at the Computer Services Desk, where the near-riot broke out 3 weeks ago today. I'm holding my breath until my replacement comes along at 4pm :-X
-
What does one have to do with the other....or is it, like...ummm...some "comparison" thingie, quality-wise?
Well, the word "boring" was used a lot in the reviews for both shows. :-\

Matt, it's not your fault, at all. As soon as you posted this above, I did remember your original post. I just wasn't paying attention. ::) I watched "Medium" and really enjoyed that.
-
*And if you can grab a copy of today's New York Times, the quotes in the big display ad are an "excellent" example of "cutting and pasting".
-
The NBC and CBS slates are ALL NEW episodes tonight, so that means new episodes of GHOST WHISPERER, CLOSE TO HOME, NUMBERS, RAINES, and LAW & ORDER.
Of all of these titles, I only watch "Ghost Whisperer" and "Raines." It'll be a light night of TV watching. :)
-
It never ceases to amaze me that there are still people who don't have the most rudimentary computer skills - I just helped a guy who didn't even know the keyboard.

There are some folks who simply refuse to have a computer in their homes.

I have a question for MattH:
Will white tile around the tub/shower show less ick from hard water?
-
Well, the word "boring" was used a lot in the reviews for both shows. :-\
I certainly remember "that" aspect of "Lestat"...except for the scenes with Claudia!
-
And new Corian countertops (which will have to wait) instead of 40-year-old tile.
Hmmmm....there ARE folks out there who would LOVE to get their hands on your 40-year-old tile.
Perhaps you should consult some local designers to see if there is any interest in offsetting your Corian costs by selling your existing counter tiles.
-
Whew!
That's the sound me me exhaling - I survived the Computer Services Desk with no incidents.
-
DR edisaurus - Congrats on the added screening dates? Are you and/or Peter planning on attending all of them?
Oh... And at this point and time, could your documentary be considered for an Academy Award nomination? Or was it part of last year's possible nominees?
If I can get away I might try to go to Columbus because I have fmaily there. I also have a friend in Chicago, but I think my wallet will be hurting by then!
As far as Academy Awards, our last film was on the Oscar short list so we've been through the process. When we premiered this film and were subsequently turned down by our own Atlanta festival, we started to feel like it didn't stand a chance. It just doesn't seem like an award type film, just one that needed to be made.
The Oscar thing involves making a film print, renting a theatre in NY and LA and would have cost us $6,000 that we didn't have, so we made the join decision to not even try.
-
Did I miss something? When did Jose and singdaw's dinner plans expand to include Eartha Kitt?
-
We've added still more theatres! Any of you Ohio DR's near Columbus? I am thinking this might be a solo screening...
Seattle, WA.. Grand Illusion Cinema… May 11 – 17, 2007
Chicago, IL… Facets Cinematheque… May 18 – 24, 2007
Albuquerque, NM…Guild Cinema… May 21 – 25, 2007
Columbus, OH… Wexner Center for the Arts… June 26, 2007
Haledon, NJ… American Labor Museum… October 19, 2007
Paris, France is EAGERLY waiting for you!
Le Grand Rex could be the place!
What about the Cannes Film Festival in May?!
-
EVERYBODY DO THE VARSITY DRAG!
Who do you think I am? Mel Tormé?
Certainly NOT June! (I'm not blond enough!) ;)
-
A serious English usage question:
A google search seems to indicate that "at this point and time" and "at this point in time" are both correct idioms. What I can't find is whether they are interchangeable or if they meant different things.
Can anyone explain?
-
Has anyone ever done the Varsity Drag...in drag?
We cant' name names here! We can't be cads! ;)
-
And now that the actors have been "broken" to get out of their costumes and mics...
Dinner!
See you in a bit, DR singdaw! :)
Laters...
-
I did "The Book Report" number from CHARLIE BROWN in drag. (It was an all-boy's camp, emphasis on camp.) That sounds close.

In a surprising twist to a recent local news story:
2nd DUI test shows chief's daughter under limit
A second test following the arrest of (name removed to protect the alleged guilty and also so she won't find this in case she googles herself), daughter of the Scottsdale police chief, showed her blood-alcohol content was 0.072 percent, just below Arizona's 0.080 percent presumed level of intoxication....
-
Had a good afternoon of viewing even though I wasn't very impressed with ANDY BARKER, P.I., once again. Everyone in the cast plays characters who are are clueless, and the constant ineptitude they show just gets wearying over a half hour show. They're all likeable actors, but nebbish characters can only go so far on a weekly series without some kind of variety.
-
singdaw, presuming I finish the book this week, read it, am happy with it, and presuming my muse likes the final seventy pages or so, then the book would come out sometime in September or October.
-
We may all be able to see Miss Priscilla do the weather. At the KTIV Web site they are streaming the weatherman right now.

Hoo and Ray!
I think those are actually recorded messages that they replay and not the real weather forecast. If I have any knack at all for this, I'll ask them if I can do the web spot for the day. Dave Winslow is the guy on there now. He's the guy who is going to work with me.
-
I have a question for MattH:
Will white tile around the tub/shower show less ick from hard water?
I have white tile around my tub/shower, and we have hard water here, and I have no ick problem.
-
Had a nice rehearsal today - Merissa's voice is still shot, but we continued doing the detail work and then ran the show - and she picks up very fast - and when she sticks to what we've done and commits to it, it's really good, so the more she gets it in her head, the sharper, tighter, and better it will be.
I must now write.
-
Thanks, MattH.
We had an apartment once with dark tile, and the hard water left a white film on it, which needed to be de-icked very very often.
-
Well, Le Creuset just introduced their new "Carribean" color.
I LOVE my Le Creuset!!!
-
Next, I watched THE SUN ALSO RISES. This was my favorite Hemingway novel after I read a bunch of them in college, and the movie is enjoyable if not exactly the book. Most of the cast is way too old, but because they're good actors, it doesn't matter all that much. Too bad they couldn't have made the movie ten years earlier. Tyrone Power would have been closer to the right age, but I find his impotent hero very moving.
Poor Errol Flynn must have been drunk a lot during filming. I know he's a better actor than he's ever been given credit for being, but I'm not sure even he could "act" drunk that well. Robert Evans is terrible, of course, and Darryl Zanuck's mistress at the time (Juliette Greco) is also a black hole of inexpression. Mel Ferrer has the jealousy and bitterness down pat, but he makes a lousy boxer.
The transfer looks very nice, anamorphic widescreen (Cinemascope) and 4.0 Dolby Digital Surround.
-
I LOVE my Le Creuset!!!
I have it in burnt orange. I love it, too.
-
After I finished THE SUN ALSO RISES, I watched the "making of" documentary on the DVD. Some good background from the screenwriter on the making of the picture. He says that poor Ava Gardner was drunk a lot during the making of the movie. It doesn't show in her performance.
-
To bring me up to 4 p.m., I began watching DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. Having watched THUNDERBALL the other day, I was in the mood for another COnnery/Bond, and I hadn't seen this one in awhile.
This is the Special Edition version, and it looks very nice. Mono sound, of course, but the picture is certainly well saturated and reasonably clean.
-
In a surprising twist to a recent local news story:
2nd DUI test shows chief's daughter under limit
A second test following the arrest of (name removed to protect the alleged guilty and also so she won't find this in case she googles herself), daughter of the Scottsdale police chief, showed her blood-alcohol content was 0.072 percent, just below Arizona's 0.080 percent presumed level of intoxication....
Now that doesn't mean they won't charge her, but being the daughter of a police chief, they probably won't charge her.
Both tests could be correct. You would have to know what she drank and when she started and stopped to extrapolate back to what her BAC (blood alcohol content) was at the time of driving.
Your BAC looks like a bell curve, well kind of. If you are on the declining side, the second test could be lower than the first and both would be right. Lots of folks are on the rise when they are arrested (it takes awhile for alcohol to be absorbed in your system so when you stop drinking your BAC rises for a while before gradually declining). For them the 20 minute wait for the test would put them higher than at the time of driving or if there are 2 tests, the second test is higher.
But if she stopped drinking for awhile before she drove, then did the mandatory 20 minute wait before the test, enough time could have passed that the second test was lower than the first. It's all a question of timing and absorption rates.
But even though science says you could have a test higher than the time of driving, most states have passed laws that have a presumption that what the test says is what you were at the time of driving. No basis in science...but that doesn't stand in the way of a legislature
Good heavens, I haven't done DWI cases in years, not sure where that came from
-
I have it in burnt orange. I love it, too.
I'm a burnt orange kind of girl myself

Hmmm, Hainsie/Kimlet dinner combos for tonight:
DRs Jose and Singdaw in Westport, CT
DRs Edisaurus and Adrianna Patti, with BK, in LA
DR Elmore and me, in Middletown, OH
Any others?
-
Jhvw will be at my house on Wednesday night....

And if you ever want to get into the myth of fingerprints....
-
Jhvw will be at my house on Wednesday night....
Well, tell him I said HI!
-
DRs Cason and Miss Karen
DR Sandra and me
-
The myth of fingerprints???
-
I have to say I really wish I was leaving the office sooner than I have planned. There are sound fiscal reasons for why I'm waiting, but I actually had my first referral today and I can't take the case! (not while I'm employed by the feds) I am so ready to be out of here!!!
-
I know that the Breathalyzer and blood test can be different. And that if she was coming down on alcohol it would be lower when they take the blood later.
-
Well, tell him I said HI!
I'll make tell him to say hi while he's there. He has been very E and T and I must put a stop to that!!!
-
DRs Cason and Miss Karen
DR Sandra and me
Of course - I should have thought of those!
-
I rode along with a Highway Patrol officer many years ago, and we saw a man who failed the field test. He blew just under a .10 (which was the standard then) and they knew they might not get a conviction, so they let him go. He looked a mess, though. Staggering and bloodshot eyes.
-
The myth of fingerprints???
That's very long. There are no standards in fingerprint examination, it's all subjective and the examiners who say they are 100% certain have been wrong many times...google Brandon Mayfield.
-
Yes, we miss Jhvw. Tell that young man to get his buttcheeks in here for a visit.
-
Yes, we miss Jhvw. Tell that young man to get his buttcheeks in here for a visit.
Will do...I'll tell him DR Laura said "buttcheeks" that may be enough to get him to come back

I'm not surprised. You have to drink a lot more than the 2 drinks they used to talk about to get to .10
-
...
I am so ready to be out of here!!!
Similar feelings for me, DR Cillaliz. This past week, I spent our Federal income tax refund on a little over half a year of retirement service credit from the maternity leave I took when DS Rob was born. It puts me into about a 2 year range of being able to retire at full benefit. I've hardly been able to think about anything else this week!
-
Looks like I've chased away everyone but Ginny.....
I'm actually going to go. I need to go home and feed the cats before meeting some friends for dinner.

Aha! Another fiscal responsible worker wishing she was anywhere but here

And I'll be leaving soon to meet DR Elmore at El Rancho Grande. Should we leave the lights on?
-
Hate to leave you alone, but I've got to go.

Yeah, someone will be along soon, we wouldn't want them to trip on anything walking into BKs livingroom

Oh, good, DR Laura's back.

News Flash: The man from the city water department just broke my water meter.

Heading down now to mop the kitchen floor (it IS Friday, after all), and then back to DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER before the beginning of prime time TV.

Page Nine Draco Malfoy Dance!!!

The date has been set! On April 16th I will be the noon weather person on KTIV in Sioux City. I go in around 10:00 AM so I can practice a few times and then at noon I'm on! This is going to be so much fun
That's the day before my niece's 23rd birthday. And since I don't ususally get to work until 10:30 am (or so ;)), I'll definitely be watching!! ;D

PAGE FIVE "ICE CREAM" DANCE!!!!
*It's an All About Us reference. DR Tomovoz will get it.
Indeed he did.
-
Thanks, MattH.

Yuck.

Through a fluke of tickets having been purchased, I am seeing LEGALLY BLONDE again tonight. News at 11.

In the movie, "Kissing Jessica Stein (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264761/)," they coined the term "sexy-ugly." Here's a bit of dialogue from IMBb.com:
Jessica: [telling Helen why her relationship with Larry didn't work out] He just wasn't funny, you know? That's always been my problem, I think. Not smart or not funny. Or not smart and not funny. Or smart, but in a totally unappealing way like funny stupid or funny dopy, rather than funny witty, or funny irony or funny goofy. Or, you think they're smart- and then you realize that they're not- and that's funny. But funny tragic. And then, if you're lucky enough to find someone who's the right kind of smart and the right kind of funny, usually they're just... kinda...
Helen: Ugly?
Jessica: Ugly, exactly. Oh my god, is that awful?
Helen: No, not at all. Ugly doesn't do it for you. That's okay. See me, I'm kinda into ugly... But only if it's sexy-ugly.
-
Good Evening!
Well, DR singdaw doesn't look spotted in person. ;)
-
Thanks, DR Ben.
And I'm sure there's several tech-savvy DRs who will have the means to "record" this streaming video.
I know how to record streaming audio, but not video. :-\

It was a real pleasure meeting DR singdaw. Since Dressing Room and The River House Tavern didn't start serving dinner until 5:00, we basically just head across the street to an Asian fusion place, Taipan. Pretty good food. -And after a scan of the menu, I didn't really notice that many "fused" dishes. There seemed to be a couple of authentic preparations of Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Malyasian dishes. -And the decor was cool-interesting too - we sat on the "deck" that was on top of the koi pond. In any case...
It turns out we have similar college/professional backgrounds, so we were able to trade some "horror stories" as well as some happier tales. And, yes, DRs, if your ears were burning... ;) As is par for the course for HHW gatherings of all size, we laughed until we could laugh no more... and then we laughed some more.
Alas, since he had to get ready for a concert tonight, and I had to head back to rehearsal, we had to end our visit, but I'm hoping we can see each other again before I head back to New York City Sunday night.
-
But Edisaurus, when will you add Portland or Salem, Oregon!!!! We have theaters too, you know! I think Portland's Hollywood Theatre would be a very fine choice for your film!
We could just screen it in your................. living room.
-
*And, of course, the next time DR singdaw comes into The City, I'll have to take him to Levain. ;)
-
DR Jose, you do need to come out west!!!
Oh, he already came out... east and west!

On Passover, one only eats un-Levained bread, though.

DR singdaw - As for the wagashi I left with you, if you'd like to know what's inside those pretty wrappers before you eat them, you can refer to THIS SITE (http://www.kitchoan.com/).

We could always hang with Eartha for a bit before dinner. ;)
Me too, me too, me too!!!!!

Go to your special place.

I'm back from a lovelier than lovely dinner with DR Ginny, and I ate way too much Mexicanfood. The margarita was tasty, too. I shall now plop like so much fish in front of the tv and fade in and out.

I believe "Carribean" is currently a Sur La Table (http://www.surlatable.com) exclusive. Or maybe not. ???
However, I do like the still new-ish "Lemongrass" - which, I believe, is a Williams-Sonoma (http://www.williams-sonoma.com) exclusive.
But... I'm still a Cobalt man myself.

TOTD: (sort of)
I'm compiling a CD of Hal David (sans Mr Bacharach) songs.
He has written pop songs for:
Gene McDaniels
Gene Pitney
Sarah Vaughan
The Fleetwoods
Shirley Bassey
Art Garfunkel
Julio Iglesias
Dong Gibson
Tommy Edwards
Vic Damone
Ronnie Milsap
The McGuire Sisters
Rod Lauren
James Darren
But has he written for anyone famous?

Listening to BBC Radio 2 right now - Alan Titchmarsh.
As Time Goes By tonight, followed by The Vicar of Dibley, a lesser-known Britcom.
Are you listening to the tv shows? Both are the best of the best, IMHO. It is sad there are so few seasons of The Vicar of Dibley.

*And here's a handy bit of Le Creuset trivia...
If you happen to come across a Le Creuset Factory/Outlet store in your travels, when you register there that store's location becomes your "home state" for future purchases - even at other stores. In other states. So...
If you happen to register at either Le Creuset Outlet store in Virginia where the sales tax is 5%, and then subsequently purchase something at a Le Creuset store in another state which has a higher sales tax, your purchase will be rung up at the lower sales tax. -Since their computers are all connected. So... Register in Delaware. ;)
*And those promotional calendars they send out have some pretty good coupons in them.
**And it also pays to find out what the "Color of the Month" is at the outlet stores. It's a good way to complete your set at a sale price.

So, shouldn't you register at the store in Woodburn, Oregon? Oregon doesn't have a sales tax.

The date has been set! On April 16th I will be the noon weather person on KTIV in Sioux City. I go in around 10:00 AM so I can practice a few times and then at noon I'm on! This is going to be so much fun
Cilla will you please send me a DVD so I don’t miss your big day?
-
...And The Diamond Bakery.
I have never been there, but I have enjoyed some of their delicious breads & other goodies.
-
Ron-Very nice posters.
Edi-Congratulations on the review & sweet news regarding the developer.
-
Whew! I thought he meant Dear Reader Laura.
Hey!

News Flash: The man from the city water department just broke my water meter.
I'm sorry, but I'm laughing. It is so absurd it is funny. What does this mean for you?
-
DRLaura, I should have know there would be photos.
-
Cilla will you please send me a DVD so I don’t miss your big day?
Please, Cilla, me too? I can't miss a Monday, they will think I am drinking again.

I wish I had registered at our local store before it went out of business-Oregon doesn't have a sales tax.

We wanted to watch Bones last night but nothing had recorded. >:(
-
Hmm... I will be sipping a Tanqueray & Tonic in about 90 minutes.
;)

Will we ever get to Page 11?

Hi all!
It's been a rough couple of days but I wanted you to know that the world famous HHW vibes have come through yet again!
Mom is in a lot of pain but it's not from a broken or fractured hip Thank G*d!!). She has degenerate arthritis (I hope I spelled that correctly).
We ran back and forth to the doctor yesterday and today. I got almost no sleep last night at all until I was sure that she was sleeping ok. I felt so very sorry for how much pain she was in.
-
Yes.
Si.
Oui.
Ja.
Igen.
Hai.
Da.
Opo.

Great news, DR Danise!
-
I also want to see Cilaliz's big day!
I made salmon for dinner tonight. Yuck. I'm sorry but seafood and I do not get along. Good Friday is the only day of the year I attempt to eat the stuff but I still don't like it.
-
DearReader Laura: Maybe the man from the Water Department had been listening to the Everly Brothers pick-up line "What's Her Number and How Can I Meter".
-
I'm pleased about the no breakage news DR Danise. Hopefully pain managment will be sorted out quickly.
-
Sherlock’s staples were removed today. All looks well. We took off his sweat shirt and took him for a walk into town. We have an office we often visit which has been great for socializing our shy dog. He isn’t too keen on having people reach over his eyes or head to pet him. Today he was happy to have attention & gladly tolerated hands on his head. It was wonderful to watch him.
He whimpered every time he saw another dog and wanted sooo badly to play. We did permit him, on leash, to play with a cute husky puppy. The puppy was nervous with her first playtime with a larger dog. We just told Sherlock to lie down & he was so sweet & gentle with the puppy her tail was wagging in no time at all.
Later he was attacked by a little service dog in training (he is fine). I hope that dog never passes!
-
On the way to the vet some idiot made a left turn out of a parking lot, raced across to the other side of the road, almost into me. I barely avoided the car while blasting my horn. Poor Sherlock went sliding across the back seat.
-
Danise-Great news nothing is broken. I hope the pain meds work.
Sorry, I have to leave when you just arrived. 'night.
-
Thank you, Dr Jose and Tomovoz. Pain Management is about all that can be done.
As happy as I am that there is no breakage, I fear that more and more meds are in the near future.
DR Jane, I'm glad that Sherlock is doing well but I'm sorry about the attack. It's strange to watch that sort of thing happen at the dog park.
I don't think I had the chance to tell you all that because of all of the recent attacks/fights etc at the dog park, they have finely decided that everyone must regisiter their dogs to be able to use it.
I think that is both a good and a bad thing.
-
Have a good evening DR Jane. I can't stay long myself. I'm to tired.
-
Danise, that is great news about the much-lesser-of-the-two-evils! (I'm sure no one ever said, "I hope I have degenerate arthritis!" without having a worse alternative.)
-
DearReader Laura: Maybe the man from the Water Department had been listening to the Everly Brothers pick-up line "What's Her Number and How Can I Meter".
I'm groaning! I'm groaning! ;)
-
Keep the promises you make to yourself.
-
Thank you DR George. It's very true.
I couldn't believe how long it took to get the results and I still don't understand why they didn't just send her to the hospital if there was even a slim change that her hip could be broken.
I'm begining to understand why Mom has no trust in these Florida doctors.
-
And thus concludes our Dove Moments for today.
-I think. I hope.
-
And now for something complete different! According to my Futurama calendar (http://www.amazon.com/Futurama-2007-Wall-Calendar-Groening/dp/0060892625/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b/102-4691709-0642501?ie=UTF8&qid=1175913307&sr=8-6), today is "Drop of Water Is a Grain of Gold" Holiday in Turkmenistan. :)

Well, I think I'm gonna pack up my laptop now. There's still about 30 minutes left of tech, but we're coming up on a long musical sequence, so...
Laters...

Thank you TCB!
-
Thank you TCB!
You are greatly missed at this site, Danise!
-
Cilla will you please send me a DVD so I don’t miss your big day?
I'd be glad to. I really don't think the news is online live, so it may be the only way to share it
-
Please, Cilla, me too? I can't miss a Monday, they will think I am drinking again.
Ok, I looked at the site. It's Video on Demand not the live streaming what's on tv at the moment. SO, either I will be on the site at various times during the day or I'll be making copies of the recording they give me. You can tune into the internet at noon, central time, but I don't think you'll see me then.
I have been promised a "tape" of the show, so either it will be a tape I can try to put on disk or it will be on disk and very easy to copy. I'll see what I can do about getting it on disk. Then I will see who wants one and will send them out
-
You are greatly missed at this site, Danise!
I miss you guys too! Every time I think things are going to settle down and be able to start posting as much as I used to, things happen.
-
Then I will see who wants one and will send them out
Me too! Me too! :)
-
ok,ok, I'll start taking names. I have Jane, TCB and Danise.
-
I would also love to have a copy Cillaliz! ;D
-
I would also love to have a copy Cillaliz! ;D
Got it.

Thanks!

I completed DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER this evening. The picture is fine, and while I did notice speckles and occasional other debris, the color is good and the picture sharp enough on the Special Edition.
However, I'd love to hear the repurposed DTS soundtrack they've come up with for this movie. If it ever comes out on Blu-ray, I'll no doubt upgrade just for a more dynamic soundtrack.
-
Very happy to read the positive news of DRs Jane and Danise. Thank goodness!
-
Page Twelve young Harry Potter Dance!!!
-
GHOST WHISPERER had a touching episode where the secret is finally revealed to Delia. Loved seeing C.W. Moffet (even if he wasn't the "approved" new boy friend), and the familiar actor playing Delia's late husband is one of my favorites, but I can never remember his name. I'll have to look it up later.
-
Enjoyed RAINES very much tonight as, once again, he had to take a very circuitous route to get to the truth about the murder victim, and I certainly didn't guess the killer though it actually shouldn't have been hard to figure out. I was just having too much fun figuring out the victim's real story.
-
And LAW & ORDER pulled switches on top of switches tonight until I wasn't really sure at the end who really killed the female rapper. Well, I guess I did understand in the end who did it, but there was some business about a tall skinny guy being there which made me think maybe Neal Huff's character had committed the crime.
-
NETFLIX sent me SLINGS & ARROWS, Season 1, Volume 1; so I know what I will be watching some time this weekend.
-
Tomorrow, I'll be watching BRUTE FORCE early in the morning. I've never seen this film before so it should be a very interesting movie to watch.
-
NETFLIX sent me SLINGS & ARROWS, Season 1, Volume 1; so I know what I will be watching some time this weekend.
Sorry, MBarnum, I thought GUMNAAM was next from NETFLIX, but I guess that will be next week's Bollywood movie.
-
The repipe is done; they still have to reinstall the hall bathroom.
DR Sandra snuck in and is having the first shower. She must be enjoying the water pressure, as she has been in there for quite some time.
-
Today Mr. Goldstein said I could take Mae-Ling and Wae-Ling to the church tomorrow to color Easter eggs. I was shocked.
We haven't seen the girls for a while. I think Grandma was visiting.
-
Since I only got 6 hours of sleep last night, I'm heading down now to go to bed.
Good Night!

Today Mr. Goldstein said I could take Mae-Ling and Wae-Ling to the church tomorrow to color Easter eggs.
Did you offer Mr. Goldstonestein an eggroll? ;)
-
I am home from my dinner with DR JoseSPiano and a concert commitment I had.
DR JoseSPiano is the sweetest guy! I really enjoyed meeting him. And he bore gifts, no less!?
And we did laugh! Eartha thought we were being a bit silly, but we told her to just relax.
And he was quite polite not to mention my cleft palate, lazy eye, and hump back.
He may be able to get me into the final run-through of the show on Sunday night.
-
Mind meld:
Did DR DearReaderLaura really say "buttcheeks"?
Well, I guess anyone who's had their water meter broken is entitled.
-
DR Cillaliz, please add me to your fanbase - I want to see the weather results, please!
-
DR Danise: No, not perfect, but still hopeful news about your mother. I am thankful. It could be so much worse.
-

Rod Lauren? I didn't know Rod Lauren sang?
I believe he is in jail now on a murder rap...last I heard.

DR Jane - Thanks SO much for your update on Sherlock! It does my heart good. :) You and DH Keith are so patient and kind.
-
ok,ok, I'll start taking names. I have Jane, TCB and Danise.
And Mike! I want to see Cillaliz's weather show!!
-
I am pooped. Hoping someone in Central or Pacific time will take us the last 52 posts to 400 for the day.
-
Good night, all!

And he was quite polite not to mention my cleft palate, lazy eye, and hump back.
Oh, Jose has not told you his real name is Esmeralda? ??? ;)

Water results with Laura!

Are you kidding?! ;)

Don't know if it is the same Rod Lauren. He was "groomed" as the next big teen idol for RCA when Elvis was in the army. Born in 1940. He had a #2 hit here in OZ in 1960 with "If I Had A Girl". It made the top 40 in the USA too. He was a 1 hit wonder. He toured OZ in 1960 but even that tour could not get his second single into the charts.

9:45 and there's two people in the jernt???

Back from the screening of Sacco and Vanzetti, about which, more later.
-
9:45 and there's two people in the jernt???
I was enjoying a shower with the new pipes.
-
I wanna hear more about singdaw's humpy back.
:)
-
And one for Waller
-
(since one never knows, do one?)
-
(since one never knows, do one?)
That's for sure: one never knows
So, instead of always putting the blame on Jose, we should give him a break and put the blame on one!
I'll drink to that!
Does anyone still wear a chapeau?!
-
Does anyone know Oz singer Julie Anthony, apart from DR Tomovoz?
Yes, that is a question!
Ah!
-
She is a wonderful singer who was the UK Debbie Reynolds for the revival of IRENE!
Where Debbie's singing voice is sweet, Julie's scrumptious!
Who says so! I say so!...
I know, I know; who cares?
Well, I do! I guess! I mean... I'm not sure!
Anyway!
-
PLEASE! Stop contradicting me!
I can't stand it!
-
Yes, Julie Anthony!
Here's a nice write-up about her.

Good Morning!
Well... When we got out of the van, we noticed that the doors to the hotel bar were locked. They were closed. -And that was after they had told us they would stay open late for us. Ah, well...
So, a couple of us gathered in a room, ordered pizza, and brought in bottles of wine. Good times! And one of the guys in the cast has a great theatre/TV archive clip collection, so we watched a couple classic and near-classic moments. Ann-Margret, Joey Heatherton, Lainie Kazan (doing and amazing rendition of "The Trolley Song")... and we finished the evening with Leslie Uggams's classic rendition of "Spring Is Busting Out All Over".
Good people. Good times.
:)
-
OH! And there was this clip from the Carol Burnett show, circa 1967, with Harvey Korman doing a take-off on Mr. Blackwell's worst dressed list. And I have to say, it's amazing that they could have gotten with some of the dialog back then. There's certainly no way they could get away with that nowadays - at least on network TV. In any case...
My favorite line:
"I once saw here in a peek-a-boo dress. I took one peek at her, and said "boo"."
;)
-
OOOOH!!!!!
And then there was Theresa Graves and Carol Channing performing, "I Wanna Be A Soul Sister". :)
-Ah, for the days before political correctness.
-
I wanna hear more about singdaw's humpy back.
:)
Well, I believe that's another second HHW in-person meeting thing.
;)
-
Did that even make sense?
-
Wrote another page and a half for a total of eight and a half pages - just in a very difficult exposition section - this last twelve to fifteen pages has all been the howdunit section, and I just hope it's interesting because it's a LOT of information about a lot of things - very talky, but, you know, it's a mystery and you've got to explain everything within an inch of its life. I'm sure there's stuff to clean up (although I went back and cleaned up what I'd written earlier) and I'll have to see how it reads tomorrow, but I'd say I'm within ten pages of being done. Whew!
-
Will we never get to page fourteen?
-
Had a very good dinner at Kate Mantilini's
-
It was so lovely to finally meet edisaurus and her ever-lovin' Greg, and they should be VERY proud of their film. There was a nice-sized crowd and a Q&A with the director afterwards.
-
Welcome fourteen GUESTS. Who are you people?
-
Stop being looky-loos and just come on in - the postin's fine.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
I wonder if I'll finish the book tomorrow or Sunday? Tomorrow is quite disjointed, as she of the Evil Eye will be here, so I have to be gone for three hours, then I'll only be back for ninety minutes before rehearsal, then I'll only have two hours before dinner. So, we shall see. I'll also have batch two of sale CDs here tomorrow, so I'll try to get the list done and up before I go off to dinner.
-
...And we made it through the show today too! There are a few sections we have to go back and smooth out, but, all in all, it was a pretty good tech today. The sitzprobe is tomorrow night, and that should be fun too.
-
Yeah!
Australians
Diana Trask
Helen Reddy
Julie Anthony
Olivia Neutron Bomb
Does anyone remember Diana Trask from the Mitch Miller show?
-
...And the internet connection here keeps coming and going. Very unseemly.
*Of course, I should probably be asleep by now - another 12-hour day for me tomorrow, so...
-
Julie Anthony was lead singer for Oz group The Seekers (Georgie Girl) for a while. (replacing Judith Durham).
-
I add a few of the less well known Bacharach tunes to my Hal David compilation today:
Long Ago Last Summer - Diana Trask
Anonymous Phone Call - Bobby Vee
After The Fox - The Hollies & Peter Sellers.
-
Well... I want to get up in time to partake of another Belgian Waffle, so...
Goodnight.
-
And picture taking is most definitely a second HHW in-person meeting type of thing. ;)
But...but...we took pictures at the brunch!
-
I believe at least one photograph was taken at the screening this evening.
-
Will this be the first time in April we don't do 400 posts? Not if I have anything to say.
-
Will we never get to page fourteen?
-
Do I have to do this my very own self?
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page fourteen.
-
I wanna hear more about singdaw's humpy back.
:)
It's a whale of a story...
-
Only two people in the jernt.
-
Push...
-
I am my own frenzy.
-
I should stop at 399 just to be contrary.
-
I'm listening to versions of "Our Language Of Love" from "Irma".
Lovely song
-
Okay, three more and that will be that.
-
Our Language Of Love is a beautiful song - I love it.
-
Given that it was 1960/61 I wonder why it was not a hit record for anyone.
-
Done.
