ps...I probably wouldn't have purchased the Apted "UP" series on DVD if it weren't for that little discount coupon card inside The Internationale... :)
Good morning, DR MattH! You are never online at this time of the morning. What a surprise!
Oh!
The posts reminded me of a some more:
BELL BOOK AND CANDLE
I guess I'll head down now and read a bit more in my Henry VIII book before starting on lunch preparation.
...
You'd think it was a holiday weekend.
Not for Grandparents! I've been off doing some preliminary shopping for the Grand;ads birthday party - this is a bit of a problem because Magic Mommie does not know how many gguests to plan for, does not know when she will know, and wonders why I keep nagging her. The party is one week from today!
der Brucer
DR DerBrucer - Just plan for three guests - the grandlad and the two granddads. Keep it nice and simple.
;)
Good morning.
We just finished enjoying the Richard Harris stage production of Camelot.
Just arrived in today's mail department: Evidently something from JR's unconscious ;) :
JMK, I forgot to ask you how that Sondheim concert was that you attended here in Tacoma?
I would love to have a poster of that for my wall.
The bathroom one?
(Note to TCB: YES! Some may find some humour here! Bathroom humour, that is! Not everyone's cup of tea C.B.! 8))
Bonjour!
(Note to TCB: there is NO joke, NO innuendo (sexual or not!), NO humour in this very post of mine! LOL!)
Are you making fun of me, François?
A triumvirate of three-initialed people are on right now--TCB, FJL, and JMK. I believe this makes us pre-qualified to write pretentious Broadway scores. ;)
I could change my screen name to my initials (GPD) and there'd be a quartet quorum on the forum.
;)
JMK, I forgot to ask you how that Sondheim concert was that you attended here in Tacoma?
GPD? Gay Pride Day?
TCB, I didn't know you had math skills.
His review is in the current Sondheim Review, which I just got Thursday!
Dickinson? Is that an innuendo?
Dickinson? Is that an innuendo?
FJL=Feed Jews Lox
Personally, I can't stand lox, but that's just me.

But here is the rare-for-the-location silver-banded hairstreak I saw today:
DR MattH - which Henry VIII book are you reading? I'm reading Alison Weir's The Six Wives of Henry VIII, in preparation for reading her Life of Elizabeth I, in preparation for watching the HBO series with my book group in July and August.
Will we never get to page five?
Good evening from the lake. Jhvw and I are here with various family members.
DR Elmore - we enjoyed the performances (and voices) of Meg Bussert and Richard Muenz in "Camelot". Did they just go on to tour with Harris and then disappear?
Miss Meg Bussert was recently seen here:Suitable for summer foot wear.
George's White Sandals - 4/16/2007
Hey Danise! Good to see you. Glad you got to spend some real quality time with the dogs today. I'm sure they are so happy that you are home.
Suitable for summer foot wear.
Thank you François
Dogs are such great listeners DR Danise. Talking to them will be a great comfort.
DR Elmore - we enjoyed the performances (and voices) of Meg Bussert and Richard Muenz in "Camelot". Did they just go on to tour with Harris and then disappear?
Harris's leading lady here was Marina Pryor who did not enjoy the experience of working with him at all!
I would love someone to record the WHOLE score of Camelot (as in the productions of Elmore's close and personal friend who conducts things. LOL)
I have the OBC and a London production (on LP) but never cared for the Film soundtrack.
The event will feature arrangements and musical direction by Mark York and will be produced and directed by Jerry Bell.
And not too long ago, Mr Richard Muenz was part of the rostrum for those wonderful recordings:
The complete recording of 101 in the Shade (Jay/TER records)
and
Windflowers: The Songs of Jerome Moross
Eric Stern, Music Director
DR Danise - Be sure to give the dogs extras from the gang here at HHW for being such good doggies while you were away. And for being such good doggies upon your return. :)
I will probably watch The Good German this evening, even though I hear it's utter trash.
Anybody want to join me to see XANADU at the Helen Hayes for free tomorrow afternoon at 3? I have an extra ticket (sixth row center; not sure if being that close is a plus or a minus in this case)
Greetings, all!
Boy, am I tired! But it was a good day. Got lots done.
DR JoseSPiano - what's your schedule like tomorrow? I have to do church in the AM, but could possibly get in for a while in the afternoon. It would have to be limited, as I've got to get back home to let the dog out. But we could work out something! Looks like I'll be back in NJ on Monday for more unpacking... Let me know what you think. :)
Wow, DR Jose, that's quite an endorsement from you for Once! I'll watch for it in Cincinnati or Dayton.
BTW, the niece who graduated today is the one we took, with your help, to see Wicked last year. One of her classmates quoted "Because I knew you...I have been changed for good" in her speech.
DR JoseSPiano -
Perhaps YOU go see Xanadu, and we meet afterward for dinner?
I do have one "warning"... The Irish accents are pretty thick, and at first almost unintelligible - to my ears at least. However, things do become much "clearer" after the opening minutes of the movie. *And the female lead is actually a Czech actress who is speaking English with a hint of an Irish brogue.
Not that we're fighting over you, Jose :) - but you could lunch with singdaw and stull get to the show by 3.
H/K REUNION! Tomorrow night...NYC.
Be there or be...
I gather XANADU is a fairly short show, under 2 hours.
Perhaps to boost our posting number for today, I shall bore -- er -- amuse you all with some nature photos.
DR FRANCOIS thanks for posting the Art Linkletter interview. Very very interesting.
And I am of course intrigued by the idea of George White's Sandals.
H/K REUNION! Tomorrow night...NYC.
Be there or be...
So Jose, can we meet at the Helen Hayes at 10 minutes to 3? I already have the tix, so no need to get them at the box office.
Now for the bad/puzzling news...
I just got back from the 7:00 showing of "Private Property ("Nue propriété). When I left the theatre, I figured it had to be at least 9:30... It was only 8:40... :-\
The cast was headed by the always amazing Isabelle Huppert, and she shared most of the screen time with real life twins (and rather cute too!) Jérémie and Yannick Renier playing her twin sons. This happened. Then that happened. Then we watched them fight. Then we watched them watch TV. It was one of those very measured and "simple" movies where we observe people's lives. Joachim Lafosse was the director, and for what it was, it was good. Alas, I found most of it a bit tedious, drawn out, and a little too artsy (plain) for it's own good.
When the movie finished, I heard many people asking their companions, "What was that?" I was asking the same thing, just to myself, in my head. Once I returned to street level - the cinemas at Lincoln Square are underground - I went back to the display ad for the movie which featured the somewhat glowing NY Times review. I just had to read it to see if there was anything I had missed. Well... Other people who had just seen the movie were doing the same thing.
See you there!
-Oh... I guess I'm not seeing the closing matinee of Coram Boy then. ;)
...stuck in the Midwest?
Ain't it the truth? :D
Page five, where art thou?
Holy moley on rye, will we never reach page five.
Will we never get to page six?
At this rate we'll be lucky if we get to page six.
Will we never get to page seven?
Hmm... When I first read this, I thought you had posted: "mature photos".
:o
:P
Mr Jérémie Rénier is from Belgium: I have not seen his twin in movies yet! Besides being good looking (He's a brunette who likes his hair blond! Thought you'd like to know ;) J.R. (!) is quite talented as an actor.
I am a fan.
He reminds me of Gavin Creel....

I loved all the performances. I just didn't love the movie.
And the Mssrs. Reniers - One of them is a blond in the movie, one of them is a brunette. But both are very easy on the eyes.
I could post a couple of those.
I like Yannick better, too.
Are there any shirtless moments in XANADU?
:)
Sadly, no shirtless moments in the movie for either brother. However, Madamoiselle Huppert does go topless.
:)
However, Madamoiselle Huppert does go topless.
Lots and lots of mirrorballs - what TCB could do with that line if he were here!
If Roller Skates married Mirror Balls, she'd be...
I hear Tony Roberts is stopless in XANADU.
Are there any shirtless moments in XANADU?
For a moment I thought you had asked "are there any shitless moments in Xanadu," to which I was going to respond, "From what I've heard, no."
I like Yannick better, too.
Xanadu
Your mirrored balls will shine
For you, Xanadu!
... and it still makes perfect snese. :)
I discovered that there is no DVD available of "Me and the Colonel".
More hope of that eventuating than my seeing a production of "The Grand Tour" I guess. It's one of my favourite flop musicals.
more chance than me seeing "36 China Town" too.
But now I'm awake
But now I'm awake
I'm going to try to get some sleep soon. I need to help mom with the shower and then I'm heading back to Sioux City. So, it will be a long day. Turns out the shower is at 11:30 AM instead of 11:00 AM, boy did we screw the time up on this one
You need to shower your mother in Screw City?
Hmmm... I think I'm missing something! ;)
IT's a bridal shower. Afraid I don't have much of a sense of humor right now.
