Will we never get to page two?
One of my favorite metaphors:
Dry as a bone.
As I would have taught my classes years ago, that's a simile, not a metaphor.
;)
And DR Matt.....how do your eyes possibly function, with the quantity of watching you manage to accomplish 7 days a week???
He likes to watch.
[almost a Being There reference]
DR MusicGuy - I don't flash my fancy duds at just anybody...I have standards! ;)
And the word of the day is: DISEMBOGUE!When a party involves plenty of spirits that DISEMBOGUE from bottle to glass and and from glass to the partiers, one can expect some IMBUED EGOS as a result.
"Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" as presented by TAO was very, very, very (that's three verys) funny! Because this weekend is Olympia's Capital Pride weekend, they had an opening act of these two guys (they're boyfriends), one plays keyboards and sings, the other plays the drums and they sang their own original music. I wish I could remember their name, but they were funny and loud...very loud...much too loud for the size room. ::) But they were good. They did about a half hour of music.Sounds like the Carpenters.
The Woman Driver of the Year Award was recently given to this lady:I thought that was a photo of a very expensive gangplank.
As I would have taught my classes years ago, that's a simile, not a metaphor.
;)
And DR Matt.... I'm not making fun of you.... it's envy! I just wish that I could squeeze out the time to watch a part of what all I'm interested in!!
Oh. You're right.
we must be quiet in the living room... :o
Ah! Leslie Jordan! -Yep, he's truly one of those "so funny, you'll pee" kind of guys.
And now it's time for me to sleep...finally! Yesterday was a long day. Today will probably be long, too. It's my mom's 65th birthday! I need to go over to my sister's house early this morning (after I've actually slept, of course) to help her set up and do some last minute shopping. Depending how long the party lasts, I may see another show in the evening, but I probably won't get the chance to. We'll see. Anyway, I'm off to bed! 8)
George, have you seen TAKE ME OUT? I think it closes tomorrow.
DR elmore - Well, the reviews I've read - and heard - make The Second Tosca sort of make me not want to see it. However... When were you thinking of going? I have ACL tonight and tomorrow, plus a few days next week, so my theatre-going window is bit "closed" right now.
Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. Don't let me forget that I have tickets to the tour of the Elvis musical, "All Shook Up," which is being advertised as the show that took Broadway by storm. I keep forgetting about it.
A co-worker asked me to ask you all if anyone knows of an instrumental (orchestra, string quartet, jazz combo) recording of the Noel Coward song, "Someday I'll Find You."
DR TCB - Take Me Out is currently playing at Dayton's Human Race Theatre. The same coworker who asked about the Noel Coward song saw the production Thursday evening and raved about it.
He and I played Oscar and Felix in THE ODD COUPLE a few seasons back...
As I would have taught my classes years ago, that's a simile, not a metaphor.
;)
Hope you have/had a wonderful time up at the WTF.
Were you working up to playing SACCO?
This was a ballet based on Coward's music, and one of the movements is "Someday I'll Find You."
For some reason, when you write his name by itself, it sounds almost dirty.
Metaphor: The world is a circle without any end?
I'm told that Mercury went into Retrograde yesterday. I'm not up on astrology, but I do recall when there was some sort of retrograde condition last fall, EVERYTHING went wrong! Even after the Retrograde condition was over I was still trying to put it all right! Ugh! Now we have another one. Marvelous Matt showed up this morning with my new bathroom cabinet door and drawer fronts and...the door doesn't fit properly. So he must make a new door. And the drawer fronts don't look right, so he needs to make adjustments there. Then the electrical outlet that isn't working (but WAS working before) can't be fixed. UGH!!!
JRAND, is this what we have to look forward to for the next few weeks????
(Please, NO!)
DR DakotaCelt, we would be happy to accept some of your excess rain;
Metaphor: The world is a circle without any end?
WTF has an entirely different meaning to me.
DR MattH, would you give us a few examples of metaphors, please?
I wish I had my own "She of the Evil Eye". I guess I've going to have to be my own Evil Eye today...

Mornin' All (or afternoon or evening or night depending upon what part of the country... or country... you're from)...
And why are you excluding our visitors from outer space?
Even little kids say "Goodnight, Moon".

My lips are sealed, metaphorically speaking.

Jeanne, I will try my hand at predicting the future:
You will fix one thing, that will lead to another, until you have an all new bathroom. Whether you want one or not.
And I predict it will take two months.
( -- if I had the skills I'd post your little icon carton guy who likes to "moon" as a visual in your honor)
Here - you can steal the little guy!
Happy Birthday DF of DR Cilla and DM of DR George.

DR Jane, I have not been to Gainey Ranch, as it is in the rich part of town and we live in the poor part of town.
Cilla did you know them before today?
Good for motivation. I have lost mine & can't seem to find it.
Thank you Cilla.
Dakota, nice car. Did you have fun?
But when you write VANZETTI by itself, it sounds like an Italian dish..."a side of VANZETTI, please."
DR TCB - As for your late night query last night: "Who is that?" Well, his name is Carrington Vilmont. He plays the gay brother/manager to one of the divas in The Second Tosca. He was in The Phantom of the Opera for a while covering various roles, including Raoul at one point and time. ...And he does have a Friendster profile. ;)
OK.. I've consumed my blueberry smoothie, and now I shall head back to my room for some more practice...
Again...
Laters...
The nicest couple joined me for lunch today
DR singdaw - As for today's practicing... Since I'll be covering some day rehearsals for ACL next week, I thought it would be a good thing to make sure the score still fits under my fingers. And it still does. :)
*And I've also been asked to play some "hush-hush" auditions next week for another project. And those notes I do need to get under my fingers. Ssshhh. -Sorry for the small pring. ;)

George, have you seen TAKE ME OUT? I think it closes tomorrow.
They may not be high standards...but at least he has some. ::)
;)
Good morning!Hope it arrives soon. DR DungFling. I'm really looking foward to a Mouse in the House.
I have finished Michael Tolliver Lives!, and am envious of those who have it all before them.
Hey! I resemble that remark!
(Yes I've just drawn back the curtains).
DR elmore3003, did you decide to go see The Second Tosca tonight?
I just finished Season Two of THE CLOSER, and what a great series! My friend Conan as Detective Ross was one of the bumblers brought in to take over Malik's murder investigation during Brenda's leave of absence. It was also nice seeing Father Paul from THE SOPRANOS as a treacherous CIA agent and XANADU's late James Carpinello as an unlucky CIA agent. Great shows. I can't wait for the start of Season 3, so I may have to drag out Season One now.
DR MusicGuy - I'm sure you meant The Living Room! ;)
AARRGGGGHHHH !! Zoot Alours dear Naomi Slingback -- I am indeed shamed, and even my schmata will turn red with embarassment!!
Living Room ..... absolutely. ??? ??? :-X
How do we know it wasn't the living room?
Thanks for the support, DR td!!!! Such abuse around here... ;)
I have not yet heard back from the ticket people about upgrading our tickets to VIP.
But TNT surprised us with a two part CHristmas special that REALLY wrapped up season 2, and that's what I was watching when I shut the system down to get on-line.
I just finished Season Two of THE CLOSER, and what a great series!
I found over 100 cassettes and DATS to transfer - including all the instrumental mixes from every solo album I've produced.
DR singsaw, let me introduce myself, seeing as I was e & t for a while. I know that we've not been properly introduced:
http://www.myspace.com/minx_the_dog (http://www.myspace.com/minx_the_dog)
OK...I'm probably not supposed to be talking about this, but TNT asked me to do a "viral video" that was supposed to look like it was made by a Closer fan. (If you go to YouTube you can see several of these...some are pretty good!) Since I had all the videos in my system, I did a montage about her sweet fixation. They didn't make any changes apart from asking if I could make it a little shorter.
So I've been checking on YouTube and it never showed up. Just now I went to www.tnt.tv to check on the schedule for the marathon and saw a video called "Sweet On Brenda", which is obviously mine. But I made crappy titles to make it look amateur---really cheesy and ugly, and here it is on their network site?? But I can't view it. It is in MIME format and doesn't even give me the option to download a player. So here's the link:
http://www.tnt.tv/dramavision/index.jsp?oid=30052
If anyone can play this, could you tell me if it has cheesy-looking and sounding titles? I can't believe they would put it out there looking like that--doesn't make sense if it's supposed to represent the network.
I really loved that YouTube link of the opera singer that DR SwishySara told us about. I sent it to quite a few friends who loved it!
I guess I don't find it Amy, all I find is the network preview. Sorry.
Try the link again, and then click on the top right box, titled
The Closer: Craving more Brenda?
Edi, the song is a riot.
Edi, so far I have watched two of the video's. The picture isn't sharp on either. Brenda on Sweets is fun and I can see why they included it. :)
I'm going to watch a few more.
I'm using FireFox, the latest version.
It's not really fuzzy, and the clip from the show wasn't any better. If I had found that site on my own I doubt I would have thought about it.
As a fan I enjoyed the video & am glad it was used.
Do you know anyone who can make you a copy?
It was a clip from an episode where she is arguing with Polk about cut backs. She wants money for a blood test on a child and he is telling her she needs to let one of her detectives go.
I looked at the clips again, they both seem to be a bit inconsistent in their clarity.
Edi-I'm sorry you can't see for yourself. I don't need to email you since you returned, and just in time too. I was just about to say...
'night.
I thought they looked great.
I just played the Closer trivia game and I got 24 out of 26 right. I missed one that asked a question about another show that Tony Dennison was on that I'd never heard of. The other one was whether Brenda keeps her house neat or messy. I said neat, and they said I was wrong. Well, compared to mine, it IS neat!
Thanks, TCB. And what browser were you using, if you don't mind me asking?
Most impressive site, td. Of course, you are an impressive man.
I just watched Paul Potts.
If I had a nickel for every time I have said that.........
AARRGGGGHHHH !! Zoot Alours dear Naomi Slingback -- I am indeed shamed, and even my schmata will turn red with embarassment!!
Living Room ..... absolutely. ??? ??? :-X
No. I thought it would be fun to go with DR Jose, but he's busy tonight. Since he doesn't seem interested. I may see it during the week unless it closes for want of business.
Today we saw All Shook Up, the Elvis musical. The plot seemed quite familiar to me, somehow.
Most impressive site, td. Of course, you are an impressive man.
td, is that a photo of Minx?
very nice site, indeed. td, I saw Lee Lessack at BK's cabaret series in LA last summer and enjoyed it a lot

Yes, Jane, I must keep Minx active on the computer in some way, shape or form; she is also my desktop's background.
u should have an email shortly td...
Holy moley on rye! I've been out in the garage rearranging and looking through a goodly number of boxes. It took about five hours but things are much more organized now - and I found the two boxes I was hoping to find. Now the Kritzerland inventory is easy to get to and very clearly organized.
I found over 100 cassettes and DATS to transfer - including all the instrumental mixes from every solo album I've produced.
Greetings...
Just discovered something interesting about DBF... He is a big fan of First Nudie Musical.
He saw the movie when it played at UWSP when he was in college.
