Title: SWEET NOTHINGS
Post by: bk on July 02, 2007, 12:03:46 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both sweet and nothing, and now it is time for you to post until the sweet cows come sweetly home.  They're currently whispering "moo" in each other's ears.

I also noticed that there's a show called Roller Derby, which has major heavy-hitters behind it.  One is allowed to spend only so much on the shows at NYMF - well, no one is going to tell me that these folks aren't going to be bending THAT in a major way.  They're list of personnel is huge, with major set design, lighting design, sound design and orchestrations by its composer, Harold Wheeler, so one wonders at the size of their band.  Hmmm.

I like Man With The Golden Arm quite a bit.  I really loathe drugs of any kind, so it's not a favorite genre of mine.  I do enjoy some of the campfests like The Trip.

Requiem for a Dream is really a great drug movie in my opinion, just because watching the main characters arm get cut off really disturbed me. It's annoying sometimes in it's " creative camera work" but I still think it is effective in getting it's point across.

DR Dakota---I probably play my music too loud in the car, too. I was talking about those people whose car stereos are so loud that you can FEEL the thumping of rap music/tejano music because of the gigantic speakers in the back of their cars.

I live at the confluence of 2 intersections in the city so there are two stop signs on either side of my house.  Sometimes cars park there for way too long and their music actually shakes my house! I don't understand how someone would purposefully want to destroy their hearing like that!

Good morning, all! My Toyland day is threatened by parking schedules so I may end up at the NYPL celebrating their new hours. I'll know more later.

I was quite tired last evening and crashed early, so I missed a phone call from Mr BK.  I haven't seen Ms McArdle in about 10 years.  I met her when she was doing STATE FAIR on Broadway, and I liked her very much.

DR Ginny, Burke Moses the El Gallo? Who's now playing the Boy's Father?  Why didn't you at intermission tell the mother her child deserved to be made into a rug?

DR  MattH, husbands courting their wives goes back to Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, if not further back, but I suppose for Hollywood the prime source is Molnar's THE GUARDSMAN, which the Lunts popularized and filmed before Nelson Eddy remade it as  THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER.

I have a faint memory of some dopey play or TV show in which parents find what they think is a stash of grass in their kid's room and they decide to smoke it themselves.  They get "high" and act outrageously and say all kinds of things to each other that they normally wouldn't.  Of course, it turns out to be only a bag of oregano.  Like I said--it was pretty stupid but I do remember giggling at some of it.  Probably a LOVE AMERICAN STYLE segment.

Yes, DR Elmore, Burke Moses was El Gallo.  Hucklebee is now played by John Deyle.

Alas, DR JRand - no souvenir program books were produced.  I did pick up an extra Playbill, if you'd like that.

It's a sad day at HHW.

I just listened to Donald's last show! He says he will be traveling out of the country and doesn't know when he will return. Sad for us but good for him (traveling is always fun, unless you're on the lam and I don't think Donald is on the lam).

I hope when he returns he will do his show again.

Thanks, Donald, for the music and interviews and good listening. I'll miss it!

I'm also disappointed about Grey Gardens. Disappointed but not surprised. As much as I love the show I wondered how it would survive without one or both of the original women. I think it's a phenomenal show and I'm glad I got to see it twice (once at Playwrights Horizons and once at the Walter Kerr).

Hmm...

I joined NYMF to be sure to get tickets for The Brain.  At my level of membership, I get 4 "guaranteed" tickets.  But now, looking at the proposed schedule, I see that the only performance I'll be free to attend is the closing night on Sunday, 9/30.  So there will be a few extras, if needed.

Well, I know their ticket sales weren't exactly booming before the Tonys, and their post-Tony bump wasn't as big as the producers were expecting.  It's just not a "typical" Broadway show.

As for Mary Louis Wilson leaving the show, I actually liked her stand-by.  Also, I think Edith (second act) is sort of an easier part to pull-off since less conjecture is built into it since it's based on the "portrayal" in the original documentary.  I'm not in any way belittling Ms. Wilson's Tony-winning performance, but I don't think her name was the drawing card for the show.

Last night I went to see a show and fireworks for Canada Day.  When leaving the parking lot I saw the most bizarre thing.  I was waiting for the car ahead of me to drive forward (in one of two main driving lanes to exit).  And i noticed the car was parked (with nobody in it).

I just couldn't believe it.  There were so many cars waiting to exit (i was parked right near the exit). Yet some total nutcase decided to just park his car for the night in the middle of the main driving lane.  What kind of a person would do this. I wish they had towed his car!

We're thinking that on April 1, the second "living room" computer wasn't where it is yet, and we may have used the area where that computer is now for drinks.  That may have helped the traffic flow.  It's a long long way until September, but we'll figure it out, I hope.

DR Jen, this reminds me of one of my pet peeves--numbnuts who feel it's okay to park in the level exits in parking garages, forcing you to drive a level or two up just to get out of the place.

And of course, the Philadelphia Parking Authority has a brilliant solution to deter these idiots--they boot the vehicles!  Hats off to you, Philadelphia Parking Authority (or whatever you are called.)

Forgive me, Father; it’s been roughly 544 days since my last post.

I’ve been a guest, lurking ever since the good news about The Brain because I’m fascinated by how different Bruce’s NYMF experience is from mine.

In early May, I got word that a panel of seven Tony-honorees (performers Victoria Clark & B.D.Wong, librettist Rachel Sheinkin, producers Margo Lion & Adam Epstein, and director/choreographer Casey) had chosen my musical, Such Good Friends, from roughly 400 submissions, for its World Premiere, as a “Next Link”.  My moving, tuneful, hysterical, historical show plays Friday, September 28, 2007 @ 8pm; Saturday, September 29, 2007 @ 1pm; Sunday, September 30, 2007 @ 4:30pm; Wednesday, October 3, 2007 @ 4:30pm; and @ 8pm; and Saturday, October 6, 2007 @ 1pm at The Julia Miles Theatre, 424 W. 55th, the 199-seat house operated by The Women’s Project.  It’s an original musical comedy with some serious overtones for which I wrote book, music, and lyrics, showing what it was like to put on a Milton Berle-like television show in the early days of live broadcasting.

It’s such an honor, but I’d very little opportunity to be elated.  In May, two weeks in a row, I had shows to play: the first was a comedy, Thieves’ Carnival, involving a live musician on stage, and that would be me.  I grew a beard.  I wore make-up.  I had lines.  The only thing I was proud of was composing the twenty-five little pieces of incidental music, motifs for every character, underscoring the other characters interacted with.  The following week, I m.d.’d a production of Tenderloin; you may have read Peter Filichia raving about it.

In between these time-consuming coups-de-theatre came NYMF’s Launch Weekend, in which they sat down and explained to us what NYMF would involve.  They went over that 22-page contract Bruce is reading now, for instance.  The upshot: NYMF is hell-bent on turning writers into entrepreneurs.  All of a sudden, it was my responsibility to raise roughly $27,000.  Hard to feel very elated about that.

The past nine weeks has involved a frantic search for backing (I’ve found none), a director (I found one) and a producer (I found two).  The producers will handle the tons of management chores – NYMF sets a harrowing number of deadlines – but not raise dough.  More happily, more comfortably, the past nine days or so have involved rewriting my show from top to bottom.  Despite what NYMF thinks, writers aren’t natural entrepreneurs; we’re at our best effectively entertaining an audience with our storytelling.

It’s great to know another NYMF composer/lyricist/librettist.  In a way, it’s alienating to know so few of the other writers involved.  I’ve sent a few suggestions BK’s way, and may pop in every now and then with more progress reports.

Hi Noel, I don't think we've ever met, but congrats on everything that's been happening for you, and Skip says to say hi!

We had a nice "NYMF partner reading" experience at NYMF - co-presented by the Seattle-Area Village Theatre -  last year with Last Starfighter, so if it seems that I'm trying to defend NYMF on their disclosure in advance of the financial element, well, i am. :)   They did say on their site that before you submit, you should read the Frequently Asked Questions, and I don't know how they could be more clear about the financial issue than they are in the FAQ's.  I hope I'm not quoting too much from their site, but it's to emphasize NYMF's openness on this issue, that everyone should have read the following before submitting:

"What will it cost me to be involved in the Festival?

We founded NYMF with the goal of delivering the resources all shows need so that, if need be, writers could afford to produce their own shows.  We provide a framework to allow the shows to be produced much less expensively, and we take care of the big ticket items – the performance venue and venue staff, the major marketing, a generous lighting package and major overall technical support.

You will still have to cover some other things, though – generally speaking, the Festival covers the items that are shared by the productions but you will will need to pay for the unique expenses of your particular show.   Depending on the size of your cast, your production values, and your shows specific needs, this may range from as little as $3,000 to as much as $20,000. These costs may include:

Actors (under the 2006 AEA-NYMF sideletter, you would have expected to pay around $200 per actor)
Production Staff (Director, Designers, Musical Director, Musicians, Stage Manager, Board Operators, Run Crew, Casting Director, etc.)
Set Materials and Construction Costs (remember: simple but effective – you’ll be sharing the venue with several other shows, and will have to strike your set after each show)
Publicity Costs (in addition to the Festival-wide publicity, you should do your own; we can help you with cut-rate deals on postcards and PR services)
Costumes (though we can assist you in securing not-for-profit rental rates)
Rehearsal Space (we will help by securing deals for festival participants, but rehearsals are entirely your responsibility)
Additional/Special Technical Needs (anything out of the ordinary that wouldn’t be provided by NYMF as part of the standard package).
In addition, each show pays a participation fee ($500), due upon acceptance into the festival.  NYMF will credit $50 of your application fee toward the participation fee.

Box office proceeds (collected via a third-party system and professional box office staff) are split between NYMF and the individual shows, so you may make back some of your expenses – particularly if your show sells well."

This is another of the feral kitties that comes to our yard to be fed. His name is Kitty Kerry. Yes, he is named after DR Kerry.

Back when we fostered for the pound we got to name our fosters, and we used names of people we knew, friends' screen names, actors we liked, etc.

When we had this pair that started hanging around in the yard to be fed, we named this one and the one that was ALWAYS with him Kitty Kerry and Kitty Lyn.

Kitty Lyn is camera shy, but I will try to get a shot of him sometime. They are all very hot and hanging out in the herb/passionvine bed lately.

Oy, such a day I had! I got to Toyland to find the door beaten to a pulp, desk drawers open, and two computers and a laptop stolen. From 10-11:309 am, I had police reports, fingerprint experts, and a lot of tsuris.  I summoned a locksmith around 11:30 and by 1:30 the door had two huge padlocks, which cost me $199.80 and the Institute will reimburse.  I'm now home, but my idea of pleasant farewell calls to DRs MBarnum and Ginny kinda got sidetracked by "We wuz robbed!"

If you want to talk about scary--I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I heard that Ms. McArdle will be starring in a production of ANNIE as--Annie!  Supposedly it's going to take place on one of Rosie O'Donnel's cruises (with Rosie playing Miss Hannigan.)

It would be funnier with Rosie as Rooster!

I'm actually quite fine.  I'm glad I wasn't there alone when the breakin occurred, which appears to be Saturday night or at some point yesterday.

I believe it was all the filled packing cartons that saved us from losing the sound system and other things. I believe the packing chips all over the fllor were the result of the thieves opening a carton to find it contained not a set of speakers but a full score to BABES IN TOYLAND and so they only took what they could grab quickly rather than open the 25-40 sealed cartons.

Perhaps because I was in the business for a long time, I'm one of those people who strongly dislike entrance applause. I don't care who walks on stage. I'm a HUGE fan of Angela Lansbury but, unlike more than half the audience, I did not applaud at Deuce when the lights came up on her and Marian Seldes. It sounds smug to say that but I just think, as some people say in the article, that it takes away from the show.

Just spoke to a general manager who I really liked, and who thinks he might be able to do our show - BUTT - he certainly isn't cheap and I don't know how his fee fits into the scheme of not being able to spend over 15K (the actors are above that figure).  It's headache inducing, but he'll present me with a proposal tomorrow.   Then he would deal with everything - NYMF paperwork and rules, budget, theatre coordination, etc.  It's all these little things like supplying a light board operator and a sound board operator and a run crew, etc. (thankfully, all set moving is done by the actors in the show).  I gotta tell you.

At the final performance of A Light in the Piazza, the entrance applause started for Victoria Clark when she first became visible to the audience and only died down after she had started to sing...which was probably more than a full minute.  Granted, special circumstances, with the audience wanting to show their support for her and for the show, but still...    :-\

Ben I always wonder, while a nice compliment, if the applause distracts the actor.

I do understand and respect that point of view but so many times the applause stops a line or a piece of business that I want to see or hear. It's a puzzlement. It's certainly good to be recognized and appreciated for your work but to me it's more of the theatre in your living room kind of behavior.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Perhaps because I was in the business for a long time, I'm one of those people who strongly dislike entrance applause.

I really dislike it when everyone is applauding and I don't know why they're applauding. I think that happened in CURTAINS when one of the actresses made her entrance. I didn't know who she was so I felt out of the loop. One more reason not to like it!

HHW is ahead of the pack once again.  Just a week AFTER an HHW trivia question (answered recently, not the current trivia question) featured the 1967 little-known musical A HAND IS ON THE GATE - which featured Roscoe Lee Browne, James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, among celebrated others - guess what show is being discussed on All That Chat!  Might it be someone who lurks here? :)   Or just a coincidence:

DR Jane: I had a callback last week, actually, for a small tour that would get me into Actor's Equity. The callback went really well...they laughed A LOT...but still no offers. The tour won't go out until September, so they still have time to call me.

I'm going in for a non-Equity tour of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS next week, and I think DR Jose might be able to sneak me into an audition for a Christmas gig at Disney.

Oh! And I auditioned for my first Broadway show a couple of weeks ago...the upcoming revival of GUYS & DOLLS, which, ironically, was the first musical I ever did. :-)

So, here's the sort of short version of my visit with DR MBarnum this afternoon:

We met up here at my apartment, I gave the "grand tour", and then we headed on down to 125th Street courtesy of the A Train.

Once down at 125th, we walked east to Madison Ave., where we then stopped for lunch at Manna's, the soul-food buffet restaurant I've mentioned a few times.  A very good lunch.

Then it was over to Lexington Ave. to catch the train down to 86th Street.  We then proceeded east on 86th Street to Central Park, The Reservoir to be exact.  And hat a gorgeous day to be in the Park!

After we walked the lower half of the Reservoir, we then headed on down to the Great Lawn, Belvedere Castle, The Turtle Pond, The Ramble, Bethesda Fountain, Bethesda Terrace, etc., etc., etc.

And once we reached the West 72nd Street exit/entrance to the Park, we headed on up to 74th Street and over to Levain.

Then I put Michael on the 1/2/3 back down to Times Square, and by now he should already be on his way to JFK.  I hope.

WHEW! :)

I am decluttering my closet. I have come to the realization that I will never fit into my skinny clothes again. A charity truck is coming tomorrow.

I have been in denial but I must do the same. I AM going to have one of those Tshirt quilts made, though. That would put me one step closer to moving...

My much-lauded diet plan is actually no great secret...I do Weight Watchers. I started in February and have lost 44.4 lbs. My goal is to lose another 15 and then I'll have reached my suggested ideal weight. (And it's really not as difficult as DR Fred implied).

Continuing on with the bonuses on the Criterion set, I watched four shoart films by Teshigahara. They were made between 1953-1965. One was on his father's world famous school of flower arranging (the art of Ikebana), and some of those arrangements were breathtaking. Glad he decided to film this one in color.

There was also an interesting short called AKO which was the day in the life of a young working girl and her friends. Simple little story but it was my favorite of the four shorts on the disc. It also looked by far the best.

As I said, Jason spoke of the point system on his diet as if it were the easiest thing in the world, but this CPA couldn't make head nor tail of it.

DR Jason has gone from looking like Stephen Cole to looking like Gary Sinise - not that there's anything wrong with the way Stephen Cole looks  (as one of our neighbors might say, Cole's not fat, he's extra-cute) -  but for an actor, it's better to look more like a leading man (as DR Jason does now) that as a behind-the-scenes type.

Welcome back to Showbiz!

As for "entrance applause", well... On a related note...

When I saw Company last Saturday, no one applauded after Barbara Walsh finished singing "The Ladies Who Lunch", but it was designed that way.  While talking with Barbara after the show, we discussed some of the different "options" they had explored during rehearsals, and how the final variation was her idea.  -It's amazing how holding a certain pose, or changing where to break a line can affect some much more than the timing of a scene.  In any case, she did say that on those rare nights when she did get applause after the number, that the feeling of the following scene changed greatly - for the audience.  More laughs.  -Otherwise, the next applause "break" would not come until after "Being Alive".  And, man, did I applaud for that!
Title: Re:SWEET NOTHINGS
Post by: DearReaderLaura on July 02, 2007, 01:54:18 PM
When the tours come here, we don't get the Broadway stars. We usually get folks who, although excellent, aren't "names." Sometimes a person from a television show is in a tour and gets applause upon entering. I never understood that.

About 20+ years ago, our Equity subscription theater had booked three old shows with star talent - Debbie Reynolds in THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, Robert Goulet in SOUTH PACIFIC, and Chita Rivera in CAN-CAN.

Debbie's first encounter with the audience was during a fight with her brothers when they get off her and she sat up to face the audience - HUGE applause.

Goulet's first encounter with the audience was when he strolled in after his "children" finished singing. HUGE applause (and audible sighs in the audience from many a flustered lady, and maybe a gay man or two).

Chita Rivera's first encounter with the audience had her enterng up stage left and walking straight down to the lip of the stage. Not one sound! I was so embarrassed for her. No ONE seemed to know who she was. I was ready to applaud, but when no one else did, I didn't either.

I just got today this DVD of a reconstructed Vivaldi opera from 1741, ERCOLE SU'L TERMODONTE and, looking at the photo of the Hercules (Zachary Stains) on the DVD cover, I thought is he nude under that cape?  Well, yes, according to the photos in the accompanying booklet.  I fear he's also more Jewish than Greek.  This might convert DR MBarnum to opera.

Now, here's a question: it looks as if this DVD is "double-layered" and I wonder how that works?

I will have to check. I have a radio show that someone did: "Harry All Day" on Jun 15th, Harry's birthday. It was hours and hours of music. People covering Harry, Harry covering others. I am far too wiped out by work today.  On top of this being 4th of 07 week, which means hordes of tourists shopping for foodstuffs and other such, we had three on the checkout staff call out, which left the rest of us trying to cover.  We had lines at every register all day.  Even with baggers I had trouble keeping up, and after my lunch break there were no baggers to be had.

Tomorrow should be more of the same.  I have no idea what the actual 4 of 7 will be like, but it may well be brutaler.

When I came upstairs at 4 p.m., my mail had no yet been delivered. I'm heading down now to see if it has arrived.

Speaking of things not being delivered...last Tuesday, I wrote this:

I'm leaving.  I need to get something to eat before I go to rehearsal and I need to pick up a vest for my costume...but I think I'll get the vest tomorrow.  I ordered one on-line and THEN found this one locally (it's "gently used") for a little less than HALF the price.  It doesn't matter what the vest looks like for the show.  I just need to wear a vest and look like a waiter.  I phoned the on-line place today and they said that it's already been shipped. :P I will be able to return it, but I won't get shipping refunded. :-\ I hate it when that happens.  Even with the shipping though, the "gently used" vest will still be about half the price of the shipped one!  It's worth it.  I don't think I'll ever need a tux vest, unless I'm in another show where I need a tux vest. ::)

I actually bought the gently used vest from the local tux shop that Tuesday but today is now Monday...a full SEVEN days after ordering the on-line vest...and it STILL hasn't arrived!  I paid $10 extra for the 3-day shipping and it didn't arrive in three days (I should've gotten it last Thursday)!  Of course, I'm very happy about this because I was planning on returning it anyway, and now I'll be able to get the extra $10 back because it didn't arrive when they said it would!  So, I only will have to forfeit the regular $8.50 shipping! ;D

FYI, the on-line vest with shipping cost $88.45 and with tax, the Tux Shop vest only cost $32.47!  A big savings...even with having to pay the shipping both ways. :D

And --- WOW !!!!  What a treat and a surprise to see the shining, beaming, love-filled happy smile of DR Jason B. looking out at me from this here site.

I will admit, several of us did try to lay just a little "Jewish guilt" on dear Jason over several days of visiting.  But it was done very gently.... and with love.... and dessert... and a waiter.....

After we were married I slowly went from a mere 105 pounds to about 120 pounds, making me by far the fattest person in my family.

My mother felt I was way too fat but just couldn’t help feeding me anyway.  One day during my lunch break (I worked in Beverly Hills) she took me to the Hamburger Hamlet where I had the diet plate along with a chocolate milkshake & a piece of chocolate cake for dessert.  Then we progressed to Allen Wertz candies where she loaded me up with treats.  The entire time she was plying me with special treats she kept commenting on my weight.   ;D

DR Jennifer,

They showed the house on Entertainment Tonight. Bizarre. It's like Alice in Wonderland. Some rooms have very big furniture and some have little door openings and very small furniture.  A very weird place to be locked up for as long as they are

Oh I always applaud when people walk into my livingroom... ;)

DR Elmore I'm also sorry to hear your news. Vibes ~~~~~~~~~

DR jane yes i liked the fireworks. It was so cute to listen to the kids behind us. They were commenting on every firework ("oh look at that big one" ... "i like that one best" ...). They were sweet.

Although there were some totally inconsiderate people. Before the fireworks there was a cabaret dance/singing show.  And we had gotten there at 7:30pm. Well at 9:30pm some people decided to just stand right in front of everyone who was sitting (there were thousands of people at this event). These two men even had the nerve to stand right in front of us with 2 kids on their shoulders (blocking the entire stage). Luckily the man in front of me went and put in him in his place.

There were probably 50 people who stood right up at the stage thinking they should just arrive when the show started and block everyone's view.  I've gone to this show quite a few times and this is the first time i've seen this happen like this.

Back from a productive meeting and one of the single worst meals I've ever eaten - I'm so nauseous now I could throw up on the floor.  We met at a place called Conrad's in Glendale - I had a salad - that was okay, and then a Chicken Caesar wrap that was grotesque, but I ate it anyway, and then, to get the taste out of my mouth, I had some rice custard pudding - no good either and way too many useless calories.

DRLaura-Very heavy.  Right now I feel very uncomfortable (painfully so) & my clothes are too tight.  Buying larger clothes won't make me feel more comfortable.

I'm not criticizing anyone when I say this, it is just how my body feels.....I don't understand how anyone can stand to gain more than 5 pounds without going on a diet.  I really do find this physically painful.

Dr Jane, I think some of that has to do with your petite build.  I'm carrying way too much weight, but I have a bigger build so I'm not quite as uncomfortable carrying it....that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Here's another water tower photo. I helped with this one. It looks a little different now, there have been many yellow peace signs added to it by the original artist, DF Paul.   I never answered td's question, I think it was td.  The big murals like this one aren't painted over, the real graffiti art, some of which is really good, is painted over and they do it again. At some point I expect that everything not an official mural will be painted over.

I know kitty is in an episode 2 weeks from now---the one with French Stewart, which is a funny one, too. Next week's episode is very dark and suspenseful.

The picture of kitty on her desk is the one they used for the flyer when they thought kitty was lost. I like it---it's sort of a funny photo of kitty reaching out towards the camera.

Maybe they need one of our resident DR's who are good at wildlife documentation!

These are official they come from the Saturday in the Park posters. There are areas on the other side of the tower that they paint a solid background for the grafitti artists (as opposed to gang members putting up their marks). They do some good things, but they do get painted over.

Next, I watched one of the Miramax films I got in the mail today - NEVERWAS. Nope, I had never heard of it. Played in theaters in 2005 (or at least that's its copyright date), but this cast! What an amazing array of award winning actors:

Aaron Eckhart, Ian McKellan, William Hurt, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, Alan Cumming, Michael Moriarty. Brittany Murphy played the female love interest.

Had some interesting story points (a kind of a mystery uncovering why Nolte hanged himself), but the romance was lame, and some of those actors like Cumming and Moriarty were wasted as various psych patients in the mental hospital where Eckhart works.

I hear you there... To loose ones hearing by disease or injury is one thing but wanton destruction is stupid.

Is Monkey Cake code for banana bread or some other low-cal diet treat?

Monkey Cake is basically banana bread with walnuts and pineapples in the form of a layer cake, covered in cream cheese icing. My mother makes something similar to it called Hummingbird Cake. In any case, it's FANTABULOUS!

I've heard of Hummingbird cake.  We used to affectionately called it Hummerbird cake because we were such naughty little Yeshivah children.  :)

Dear DR's---please send every spare vibe and prayer you can to my editor friend Travis (he's working on SAVING GRACE, which TNT is going to launch in a few weeks). His mother has disappeared and it doesn't look good; foulplay is suspected. He didn't come to work today and now his producers know why:

http://snipr.com/travismom

I believe that vibes will help, whatever the outcome. Thank you from us TNT folks who are shocked and hurting for him right now.

vibes on finding his mother safe and sound and vibes of support for him.

Vibes to Elmore!

As difficult as it is to believe, I was once as tiny as Jane. They knew beforehand that a traditional entrance into the world was not going to happen with my son. Then, of course, as was usual in those days, DR Sandra was a repeat.

Could never have children

However you both are making me guilty of my weight at 5-6  and large boned. Man I need to loose weight... 15 -25 lbs...

Newbie here. Just making a test post.

FYI, there are two Hinge & Bracket clips at Youtube, and BBC Radio 7 broadcasts their shows every now and then. They're great.

I would have loved to have seen them in Lettice & Lovage.

Sad to hear about Beverly Sills. :'(

I loved her on "The Muppet Show," especially when Fozzy Bear thought that she was Bev Sills, the tap-dancing country-western singer and she sang a country-western song and tap danced!  And when she hung spoons on her nose with Gonzo...and when the Muppetipolitan Opera Company performed "Pigoletto."  She was totally game for the whole thing! ;D Here's a Page 23 Tribute Dance!!

We have a boy!! (Ok, we knew it was going to be a boy) I'm not sure of his entire name, but I know they wanted to name him Gabe.  He was born at 9:00 P.M. and was 7 pounds and 2 ounces.  Considering her due date was the 19th, that's a good sized baby.  I don't have all the details, my niece called and I'm sure I'll hear from my mom momentarily

Congrats to Great Aunt Cillaliz!!
