Well, you've read the notes, the notes had boom and bang, not necessarily in that order, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're making plans to attend The Brain From Planet X at NYMF and they're also having a barbecue.
-
And the word of the day is: PINCHBECK!
-
Thank you DR TCB for the Phantom report.
-
I'm very tired.
-
Everyone must have hit the road to dreamland.
-
I suppose I shall do the same.
-
I used to go to the CBS fireworks shows...before it got really expensivve.
-
Good morning.
-
What am I doing up a three in the morning? My tummy is a little upset, that's what.
-
And I'm the only one in the jernt.
-
Well, five GUESTS are up early, but I suppose I shall try to go back to bed now.
-
Make that twelve GUESTS. The regulars are apparently sleeping in.
-
Make that twenty GUESTS and a singdaw. And I'm STILL up and cannot sleep.
-
Sorry, bk! Hope you feel better, and pronto - and that you get some rest today, too! :)
-
And good morning to all from Minnesota! Thanks to all for your travel vibes...
-
So, DR George...I'm dying of curiosity...name that musical!
DR der Brucer...loved the pink dolphin!
A wonderful WELCOME HOME to DRs MBarnum and TCB!
DRs JoseSPiano and TCB - thank you for your theatre viewing reports! So much fun to read...
DR JoseSPiano - BREAK-A-LEG VIBES for your ACL Key 2 debut today! :)
DR Michael S. - nice job on the Jason video!
DR Adriana Patti - glad you found your cell phone!
-
Never accept a pinchbeck.
-
so, for ask bk day:
bk, did you have a real-life car accident, such as happened to teen-aged Benjamin Kritzer in the third installment of the trilogy?

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, EVERYONE!!!

Ooooooh! Aaaaaah!

Does any DR make a habit of watching 1776 every July 4th?
-
Am I the only one awake? Is this a holiday or somehting?
-
Noel and Jrand are here! Let's have a cyber-barbecue!
-
A cybercue - is that a word? If not, it should be.
-
If not a barbecue, maybe a roast
-
Word of the day: Pinchbeck of Notre Dame is a great novel by Victor Nogo

Yes, c'est moi!

SAY MWAAAAH! - the title of my new Dinah Shore training film
-
It's the 4th of July
There are fireworks in the sky (later)
Parades will be marching by (and I'm off to meet my mom for ours, at the end of my street.
It's a tradition we've had for many years.)

Wonderful Phantom report from DRTCB....thanks so much!!!
Great Cason photos.....and DR ADRIANNA found her phone that was lost for almost two posts.
Starving MR BK and lots of other food.
DR JOSE gave us a fine report of FROST/NIXON which I would avoid like the plague.;
Thanks to new DR 3DDIFFUSION and others for their comments about costumes. We have a new Costume Committee that wants to lock everything up, dole out the costumes, and be generally "boss" of everything, but don't want to be considered the "costumers" when it comes to the cleaning of said apparel.
They make or give costumes to the theatre.....but said costumes still belong to them because they put so much time into making them. And we must make an appointment with someone on the costume committee to get into new costume area....not all board members will have keys to the room.
My response was - after working there since 1979, I was not about to be told there was a place I could not go and the first time I wanted a costume and their was no member of the costume committee available, they would be buying a NEW door for the costume room to replace the one that I kick open.
-
That is not a very good lyric.

SAY MWAAAAH! - the title of my new Dinah Shore training film
See the U S AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I loved that show!!! ;D

That is not a very good lyric.
Never stopped Richard Stilgoe! ;D
-
I have read BROADWAY BABYLON which I will NOT recommend. If you have regularly read books about Broadway and the usual Broadway auto & bios, you have all of this information.
The ONE thing I did find out....don't know why I didn't know this....is that Ruth Gordon had an illegitimate son by Jed Harris.
-
PORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY - that should be the title of something or other, shouldn't it?
Too bad it's not Friday/media check day. :)
-
"July, and you'll be sorry" - isn't that a song from PILLOW TALK?
-
I think DR CASON doing a tribute to Lucille Ball with his makeup for CABARET is an inspired decision!!! Kudos! :o
-
See!!! ;D
-
"July, you hound, and that's not fair"
-
Has anyone ever noticed that Lucille Ball bears an uncanny resemblance to Debra Messing?
-
I love Strindberg's Miss July.
-
Has anyone ever noticed that Lucille Ball bears an uncanny resemblance to Debra Messing?
ACCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!! :P
-
July, July, July, do you love me?
-
Is that August Strindberg's Miss July?
-
July, July, I've never been so thin - what's that from?
-
Jose, I'm so glad you liked Frost/Nixon. I felt the same way. The friends I was with did not remember much about Watergate but I remember it very well. I was 20 and 21 when it all happened and was obsessed with it. Even though I knew everything that was going to happen they pulled out the suspense and drama and it was real theatre. Langella gave a superb performance and deserved his Tony. I also think his thank you at the Tonys was truly classy.
-
July, July, I've never been so thin - what's that from?
Hmmmm......I await the answer from someone smarter than I.
Yes, I am referring to August's July. 8)
-
Oh the allergies..ugh
-
July....it's the voice of my own true love.
And it promises EGGS-STASSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Good morning, all! I slept late, and now I have to run downtown and deal with Toyland; I'm the only one of us office workers around today, so I need to verify there hasn't been another breakin. We're all anxious since the robbers know everything's packed away for easy removal, and we have sound equipment, copiers, and other expensive objects waiting for the taking. I will verify everything is safely locked up and return or I'll call the police and wait to make another report. I must admit I'm not very keen these days about being down there alone.
DR JRand56, I'm currently reading Ruth Gordon's books, and her autobio MY SIDE is quite wonderful and very frank. Her first husband Gregory Kelly, who starred with her on Broadway in Booth Tarkington's SEVENTEEN, died young and on tour. Her account of the marriage and her affairs and several quite painful abortions is very honest, and her account of his death is quite moving. In 1927, or so, she began an affair with Harris and decided to keep the baby, who was born in October in Paris. I'm at this point in the book, and I recommend it immensely.
Yesterday at 7:22:40 EST BK wrote:
Why hasn't darling elmore returned my call and/or e-mail?
As I reported yesterday morning, I was out with my friend Kirk last night, and when I got in - a bit tipsy -I went to bed and didn't check my messages. At 3:38 this morning someone called my cell phone, but I listened to it ring and went back to bed. If I neglected something important, let me know. I do know I sent you a couple of emails yesterday, one about a general manager, one about George Dvorsky, and I'm puzzled.
DRs TCB and MBarnum, welcome back.
Okay, I'm off to the office. If there's a break in, I hope I don't arrive in the midst of it.
-
Thanks for the recommendation of the Ruth Gordon book, DR ELMORE....I didn't know it existed....even.
DR MBARNUM mentioned Freddie....but no mention of Bosco....have I missed something?

HAPPY FOURTH TO ONE AND ALL!
I'm on my way to The Pittsburgh Zoo, some one told me it's all happening at the zoo; for a day of bonding with my relatives. No! Not merely the ones in the cages, but several cousins who live close to the Ohio border who are going to the zoo, too. . .

Freddie is me, Freddy is MBarnum's beloved dog - I'll wear a necktie so you can tell the difference (almost a Groucho reference)

JRand56, if you would avoid FROST/NIXON like the plague, you would be making a terrible mistake. I saw this same production with Michael Sheen and Frank Langella in London and I concur with Jose's critique. It is absolutely brilliant and both Sheen and Langella are magnificent. A wonderful, compelling evening in the theatre.

It's the subject matter - not the actors....both of whom I like. I guess I feel the same way about Langella's Nixon (after reading a few interviews he gave) that I feel about Anthony Hopkins' Nixon.
I watched these interviews when they were broadcast. THAT I found fascinating. To see them recreated, I am not sure I want to do that. Just my own feeling.....
For me it would be as if a bunch of actors re-did the Army-McCarthy hearings (I think it has been a TV movie).....why do it when we have POINT OF ORDER?

Absolutely no tax work to do today.

DR MS....those are great vids!!!

Debating what my plans are for the day. DBF wants to go to the zoo, perhaps go for a walk and just relax.
-
I think I shall watch a Digital Video Disk.
-
Then who's Bosco?
-
Much to do around the home environment (in BK lingo) today. Waaaayyyy behind. Lots of minor set-backs--damn that Mercury Retrograde!! (Or was it Jupiter???) But, unlike DR LAURA's recent situation, my bathroom fixtures are in the bathroom and the garden is in the garden. For that I am thankful.
-
Good morning!
The last of our cool mornings. By noon, I will have to close everything up and turn the A/C back on, and that will be that. It was good while it lasted.
-
I'm still reading BROADWAY BABYLON, but while much of it is familiar, I really enjoyed the chapter on THE BOYS IN THE BAND getting background on the various "Boys" who kind of disappeared over the years (even before many of their deaths).
-
Count me as another who would be sure to enjoy FROST/NIXON. I saw the interviews, too, but to see them dramatized I think would be fascinating. After seeing THE QUEEN, I became VERY impressed with Michael Sheen. I look forward to the movie of this play.
-
Thanks, DR TCB, for the complete review of the Vegas PHANTOM. I'm not a fan of the show, but if you've got to see PHANTOM, 94 minutes would be a gracious plenty and right for the material.
-
I'll be watching one of the Cult Classics this afternoon; just haven't decided which one yet. I'm debating between CAGED, THE PRODIGAL, and SKYJACKED.
-
I also have DANTE'S COVE to finish, at least disc one of the two disc set (2 episodes left to watch on disc one).
Tonight, I want to watch the Blu-ray disc of PAYBACK which is a new director's cut and from the several reviews I've read, superior to the theatrical version (which I also enjoyed).
-
A question for MATTH (or any other DR):
Have you seen the made-for-TV TOPPER DVDs from the 1950's? I always loved the series--yes, I love ghost stories--and am currently watching the TOPPER movies. I'd like to purchase the TV version, but one Amazon reviewer said the copy was poor. I'd like a DR opinion.

I have not seen the DVDs (I remember them fondly), but I'm guessing DR MBarnum might have some of them. He seems to love the old TV of the 1950s. Are the available ones from Critic's Choice? Their DVDs are usually pretty bad looking, but often, that's all that's available.

My goodness, for the second week in a row, I have zero DVDs on my list to buy. My bank account is loving this uncharaciteristic lull in DVD releases I'm interested in.

Good Morning, DR TCB!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I slept in until about 10:30, and I need to head out of here in about a half an hour, so..
-
DR JRand - Frost/Nixon is much, much more than a "recreation" of the actual interviews. It's everything leading up to them, and a bit of a post-script. The interview segments comprise only about the 30% of the piece - and even those segments are embellished and commented on by the various players involved. And just the way the whole production is put together with the cameras, the TV screens, the lighting and the sound design is masterful, not a misstep along the way.
I was most surprised by the humor in the piece, some genuine funny stuff. The play is not just some dry commentary on the whole enterprise. There is also some conjecture on part of the author, especially in the crucial turning point scene which propels the play its exciting, thrilling and sobering finish.
I'd say give it a chance if you ever get the chance. Or at least give the script a read, which I think is available now for purchase.
-
Well, I do need to get ready to head to the theatre. The equipment is turned on at 12:30, and I want to get as much pre-performance, last minute practice time in as I can, so...
I should be back in time for the fireworks.
Laters...

Hi

Happy Fourth of July to one and all!

Hi, MusicGuy, I am glad you had a nice visit to the East Coast.

Hi Tom.... your Las Vegas adventure sounded like fun. As for me, I'm definitely dealing with a fairly big dose of "New York wonderful friends" withdrawl !!!
Hi Ben, Hi Ant.... Hi Larry ......Hi Jose.... Hi Jason.... Hi Rodz.....Hi Fred...... Hi MikeyB ....
I want a piece-of-chicken ----- I want Levain! ------- and I want the Little Pie Company ----- and most of all hugs from the sweetest people in NYC, all of whom are hainsies and kimlets and studlies and lovelies !!

Dear DR Jose...... I'm holding "great matinee performance" vibes for you today. I know you'll do great (as always), and I think you'll have a long and happy association with ACL in various forms.
......~~~~~~~~hugs ~~~~~vibes ~~~~~ for Jose ~~~~~~~~~

Dear esteemed, rested, stunning, lithe, and delicate BK --
Continued good vibes on assembling your NYC production team. And a very happy July 4th to you....... Mazel Tov !!

Good morning, again. This morning I went birdwatching and saw very few birds. It's too darn hot (a Kiss Me Kate reference).

I did see this dragonfly, though.

Good morning, again. This morning I went birdwatching and saw very few birds. It's too darn hot (a Kiss Me Kate reference).
Dear Reader Laura (and DR Music Guy), how hot is it supposed to be at your house today? I feel like I got out of Vegas just in the nick of time.
-
I'm glad you enjoyed Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular. I loved it. The setting and the effects are great. I have a friend in the ensemble, and he arranged house seats for me.
-
They are saying 115F today. That's down from the 117 they were predicting a couple days ago.
-
Did you see any other shows, TCB? Did you think of me when you noticed the lovely casino carpets?
-
Did you see any other shows, TCB? Did you think of me when you noticed the lovely casino carpets?
I did indeed, Laura. I would have taken a few more pictures for your collection, but it seemed like every time I turned around, I had misplaced my camera.
-
No, I didn't see any other shows while I was in Vegas. I should have gone to see THE PRODUCERS while Brad Oscar was still in the show, but it was just too warm to think of going back out in the evening. I am not sure that I would enjoy seeing Tony Danza as Max.
-
I do not think I would like to see Tony Danza in anything.
-
The office is fine this morning. I saw one of the realtors in our neighboring real estate office, and he confirmed that they were indeed broken into as well and that a laptop was taken. It was a bit creepy there alone, and I had my cellphone all set to 911 if I needed to make a fast call. Now I am back and debating what to do with the rest of the day besides working on Kevin Spirtas' charts..
JRand56, Ruth Gordon's son Jones was born on Oct. 13, 1929, two weeks before the stock market crashed. I read that section of the book on the subway back uptown. She has three published memoirs, MY SIDE, AN OPEN BOOK, and MYSELF AMONG OTHERS. I also have her novel SHADY LADY, and she's written several plays: OVER TWENTY-ONE, THE LEADING LADY, and YEARS AGO, which covers the same territory of her biography between age 14 - or so - through leaving Massachusetts for The American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York. They're all handled by Dramatists Play Service.
-
I still feel spooked at the church after my experience, Elmore. And then last week when I was there, when I tried to set the alarm, and one of the windows was ajar, when it wasn't ajar when I unlocked a few hours earlier. We wonder if someone tried to leave a window open to break in later. I did see someone wandering around the property that day.
-
And I hate feeling uneasy in my "safe place."
-
Ask BK: BK, would you mind confirming with Tony that he got my package to pass on to Marsha and Norman? Thank you very much (a Leslie Bricusse reference, bringing Christmas to July).
TCB: great BB story!! I'll never forget how excited I was when I met one of my idols, Sergio Mendes, backstage. I of course just barged back there with no invitation. Luckily Sergio's wife took an instant liking to Betsy and me, so we were back there for a good hour or so after the show.
I repeat my Ask DR question from last night: anyone with any good downtown San Francisco hotels to recommend? It's been so long since I was there I have no idea of what's downtown anymore. And of course when I used to go there with my father the General, we always stayed at the Presidio anyway.
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]TO EVERYONE: HAVE A WONDERFUL FOURTH OF JULY!!![/move]

JMK, I met Sergio Mendes back in 1969, when he and Brasil 66 did a concert at CWSU in Ellensburg. I was working for the college radio station at the time, so I got to meet all of the guest artists on campus.

Happy 4th, everyone!
It's a tad bit gloomy in New York today...and a cool 72 degrees, which makes me happy as I'm about to hie myself to a barbeque at a friend's house in Long Island City.
DR Jose: Great Book 2 Guitar/Harp vibes to you. I'm sure you will be just fantabulous because...well...you always are.
I happened to pop into A CHORUS LINE last night for a few minutes to see my friend, Jessica, go on as Sheila for the first time. So far, she's also gone on for Judy, Maggie, and Diana Morales. She said she was terrified last night, but you couldn't tell from her performance. I only stayed for "At the Ballet" and "Sing," but it was fantastic to see her go on. She and I did THE MUSIC MAN together in Louisville about 7 years ago - she was Zaneeta...I was the Quartet tenor (!) - and during sound check, she'd walk out and sing "Red Hot Mama" and dedicate it to me. :) Now she's on Broadway, where she belongs. Yay for Jessica!!
I'm very hungry right now. I haven't eaten since I had that coconut dream bar last night at 6:30. And I did another hour of yoga last night. I was so relaxed by the end of it that I actually fell asleep in the middle of the living room floor. I think I woke up at 4:30 and came to bed. It was faboo.
-
I am also uncomfortable after my experience of being stalked. Still a bit skittish at times.
-
Happy 4th Everyone!
-
Independence Day greetings! I slept quite late today - 10:45am - and have decided that I'm sicker than I've been willing to admit for the past week. We were planning to visit the mothers and my aunt, but this cough of mine does not belong in a retirement community.
-
...
I repeat my Ask DR question from last night: anyone with any good downtown San Francisco hotels to recommend? It's been so long since I was there I have no idea of what's downtown anymore. And of course when I used to go there with my father the General, we always stayed at the Presidio anyway.
...
DR JMK - my last visit to SF was for the ALA conference in 1997. I stayed at the Handlery Union Square (http://www.handlery.com/sf/default.asp) and had a very pleasant experience. They advertise a Family Getaway package on their website.
-
We've only driven through San Francisco (and it was always foggy) and never stopped overnight, so I can't give a recommendation for a hotel. Besides, we usually stay in Motel 6, anyway.
-
DR DakotaCelt, it is awful feeling like someone might be watching you.
-
Does any DR make a habit of watching 1776 every July 4th?
DR Singdaw - our family tradition is to watch Independence Day.

DR Jose, I think you're so talented that you don't need any vibes at all, but because you're such a dear friend,

And now to the market!

We are about to have a thunderstorm, so I'm going to disconnect.
Bye for now!
-
so, for ask bk day:
bk, did you have a real-life car accident, such as happened to teen-aged Benjamin Kritzer in the third installment of the trilogy?
Ask dear reader Jane ;D
Yes, the accident described was based on a real incident. I've had a couple of other potentially horrible accidents that I've luckily (knocking wood) walked away from.
Singdaw, darling, if you enjoyed the Kritzer books, why don't you do a leetle review for each on amazon?
-
I have not seen the DVDs (I remember them fondly), but I'm guessing DR MBarnum might have some of them. He seems to love the old TV of the 1950s. Are the available ones from Critic's Choice? Their DVDs are usually pretty bad looking, but often, that's all that's available.
Yes, I believe they are from Critic's Choice.

ASK BK DAY!
Could you remind us of the full list (as it stands) for the November fundraiser; and the price of tickets to attend?
Thus far we have Jason Graae, Brent Barrett, Bruce Vilanch, Emily Skinner (who may have to drop out should Witches of Eastwick come right in to B'way, which they're now pondering), Alice Ripley, Michelle Nicastro, Ken Page, Alet Taylor - I think that's it - next week I have to add at least ten more.
Right now, tix are $50 (could go up by 5), with student balcony tix at 20, and Gold Circle Premium Seating (four front and center rows) at $250. I've already said that if necessary I'll make sure any visiting hainsies/kimlets can have orchestra seating for 20.
-
TCB and any people doing casting - That avatar really is not a flattering picture of Jason as he looks today; I hope that's not his head shot.
-
elmore, sent you more e-mails. And it wasn't me who called your cell - I don't even have that number anymore, as I thought it was temporary.
-
They already had the charming Studio City 4th of July parade down my street.
-
I guess I ended up getting about seven hours of sleep total, but it sure doesn't feel like it.
-
Welcome sixteen GUESTS. Come on in, the fireworks are fine. You can ask questions, too, since it's the day to do that.
-
Question me an answer.
-
Jason - That's not your head shot, is it?
-
I'll be watching one of the Cult Classics this afternoon; just haven't decided which one yet. I'm debating between CAGED, THE PRODIGAL, and SKYJACKED.
Last night I watched THE PRODIGAL.
James Mitchell was sexy.

Or is it vice versa?

I feel like Hell today. I have a terrible sore throat. Probably too many hours sitting on the tarmac the other night. I am supposed to attend a July 4th party, but I think I will call and offer my regrets (what they will do with my regrets is anyone's guess).
BK, what a great line-up so far. The fundraiser in November 7?

Gee, I am not casting any shows at the moment. I wonder who might be?
-
TCB - I'm really not talking about anyone specific for any specific project, seriously. Just who knows who's lurking at this site and if someone sees the photo, they might peg Jason purely a character man when he can also do leading men at this point. (Cold sore notwithstanding, of course. :) )
-
I meant play leading men, not do leading men, of course.
-
jason, do you mind being talked about in the third person? :)
-
I meant play leading men, not do leading men, of course.
Well, now...let's not rule anything out just yet. ;)
Though, of course, Broadway's John S. wouldn't be one of them. He's dead to me...remember?
-
The benefit is Monday night November 5th at 7:30. And we're having a silent auction filled with great stuff, including signed musical quotes from some terrific and famous composers.

Breaking news!!!!!!!!
American Joey Chestnut beat Takeru Kobayashi in the hot dog eating contest.

Anti-indigestion vibes to Joey Chestnut

Oh, Joey Chestnut, you've eaten more hot dogs than anyone in this room (almost a BK joke reference)

I never get to watch PASSIONS on non-holiday days. It seems to be silly, but seems to know it's silly. Is this just one of the better episodes? I know the show is quite reviled by many.
-
Sometimes we celebrate July 4 by watching 1776; some years we don't get around to it in time. It's a long movie.

I ended up doing some tax work today after all. I feel unpatriotic working on July 4.

If we start watching it now....

DR Jason, I'm not hiring actors right now, either. . .but with a punim like the one in your headshot, you know that I'll be thinking about you. . .

How many hot dogs did Joey eat, what was the time frame, and did he have to keep them down, or could he vomit on the ground and continue?
-
I was going to do a few things today, but I'm really thinking I shouldn't do anything but clear my head and rest, as I'll be working and doing things all weekend.
-
elmore, sent you more e-mails. And it wasn't me who called your cell - I don't even have that number anymore, as I thought it was temporary.
I didn't think a call at 3:30 am was yours. I've been getting a lot of calls from Malaysia or somewhere, and Verizon's been no help at all.
Speaking of Verizon, there's this Fios commercial in which the installation guy tells the kid "It's true quom" or Guam or quam. What the hell is that?????

The psychosexual problems of the "head writer" is all over this moronic piece of crap show. Does he ever put both feet on the ground? His writing's an insult to police procedure, the legal system, gays and transgendered people, good writing, and logic.

Well...I'm off to the BBQ.

Larry - PASSIONS did get weirder and weirder as the hour went on.
But it was an education to finally see what people have been talking about.

NEW YORK —
American Joey Chestnut broke the world hot-dog eating record Wednesday at the annual Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest, downing 66 franks to beat six-time defending champ Takeru Kobayashi.
"I made my body work for me," Chestnut said after his win was announced.
Kobayashi finished second with 63 dogs eaten, though he seemed to spew up some dogs as the 12-minute contest came to a close at New York's Coney Island.

It's like watching an accident it's so horrible! I can't believe the writers get paid good money to write such nonsense. It's too bad you missed Esme and the mother-in-law of Ethan, who are both written as drag queens with a Big Penis fixation, but you did catch the moronic POTO ripoff with the hermaphrodite murderer the police force is incapable of apprehending.

I'm just popping in to say a quick "happy 4th" to all..... and I agree - it seems like kind of a lazy, easy, afternoon.
...... Lazy Afternoon... a lovely song!

Kicking back a little after spending the day doing yard and garden work. Tonight I will be attending the concert on the Parkway which will feature Patti LaBell (as it always does) and one of my favorite bands from the 80s, Hall & Oats.
I'll have to practice the arm movements for "I Can't Go For That". Maybe I can find a video on YouTube to remind me of the motions.

Hi Fred... with Skip at the movie, I wish i could teleport myself there instantly, and I'd meet you at The Little Pie Company.

Ask BK day ---
Hi Bruce..... the character of "Paul" from the Kritzer book (second one, I think?).... Does he still live in southern Calif., and have you maintained any level of friendship with him? And if you know, what does he do now that he's grown up?
-
It's certainly a lazy day around here. I was invited to a 4th of July party that I declined (26 miles away). I ate turkey for lunch in the spirit of 1776 (well, it would have been the national bird if Ben Franklin had had his way).
And I have had several enjoyed telephone conversations.
-
I did managed to get 2 1/2 items watched.
I began with DRIVING MISS DAISY, a movie I always enjoy no matter how many times I watch it.
-
Talk to you all later, my lovelies.
Hi Mikey !!
-
Next, I rewatched Monday night's episode of THE CLOSER, and laughed all over again at some of the scenes.
That bride was a spiteful bitch to be sure! And I LOATHED her arrogant father.
-
I'm about 1/3 of the way through the next episode of DANTE'S COVE. Doesn't look like I'll get it and the next episode on the disc finished today because I did want to watch PAYBACK and possibly THE PRODIGAL, too, if there's time tonight.
-
And, I did get the den cleaned so I have that Wednesday chore behind me, always happy for that.
-
Watching The Prodigal - but it's too light in the TV room, so I'll wait a bit to continue.
Too light in the TV room? Are you using a film projector?

Well, I'm going to head back down now even though it's earlier than usual. The internet sites I usually visit (other than this one) are usually closed for business on national holidays.
Should give me more time to watch DVDs.

On Mon, I caught EVENING at our local cineplex; Don't know how the reviews have been, but I liked it a lot, esp. Miss Redgrave and Mr Dancy. The cast is almost all Bway Babies, the above two I'd seen on my May vac in NYC;Blogging on coffee break at work, reminiscing about Tammy Grimes' albums(now avail on a two-fer CD,) and looking forward to the DVD of one of the greatest films of all time, HOT FUZZ.

I have not seen Paul (the first name was real, not the last name) since my first year of high school - I telescoped the events in the book - it actually ended in the tenth grade, the friendship. He got heavily into politics, which I don't really care for. I know he was involved heavily in some campaigns in the 70s, and I believe he now teaches politics at a college - he's not in LA. Interestingly, back in 1984 when I was doing The Good One at the Coast Playhouse, about ten minutes before the show there was a knock on the dressing room door, and it was Paul's mother. First time I'd seen her since the mid-60s.

TCB, DR Sandra had been a fan of Jason Graae since we bought the CD of Forever Plaid after seeing a local production. Someone let me know that he was doing a concert at UCLA, and without telling her, I bought tickets and kept the secret for two months. I packed a suitcase for her, and got her into the car one Saturday morning with the promise of a Krispy Kreme doughnut. We got lost on the way to Krispy Kreme and ended up in LA. She didn't know where we were going until we got there. Jason Graae always comes out into the lobby after concerts and meets anyone who wishes to speak to him. I dragged our shy DR to him and introduced his best fan to him. He was very very nice and quite touched that we drove so far to see him perform. He sent her a handwritten note and an autographed photo and said to keep in touch. A couple years later , when he had a show at the Cinegrill, we came to see him, and he said that David Engel (Smudge) and Bruce Kimmel were in the audience and introduced us to them both.
We met Jason seven years, eight months, and five days ago, according to DR Sandra. We met BK in August of 2001 while he was still at the label we never mention by name. Said label's site used to have live chats, and BK remembered me from some of the chats.
My, that was a rambling story.

Yes, I believe they are from Critic's Choice.
Thanks, Matt. Let's see if Mike (or anyone else) responds.
Jeanne, I have seen a DVD of the Topper TV series recently. I watched one episode but have no recollection of the picture quality. I imagine it was nothing to write home about but I probably had no complaints either. I have some of those budget Critic's Choice DVDs (Ann Sothern Show, and some others) and they look just fine to my eyes. I say go for it!

I will post photos of NYC soon....but I am still exhausted!

I am marinating chicken breasts to take to the cookout today, plus I made a white cake with white frosting, but I cannot find the red, white, and blue sprinkles I bought for it.

And I will also add that DR Jason looks fantastic! Of course I thought he looked fantastic upon my meeting him 2 years ago...but now he just lookes fantastic-er!
I just wish I had legs like his instead of my scrawny chicken legs.

Skip is cooking up a mess of fried chicken as we speak.

And my two Broadway experiences were GREAT!!!!
Big thanks to DRs Elmore and Jose for arranging my attendance to both plays!
CURTAINS was everything I hoped a Broadway show would be...beautiful 1950s era costumes and hair styles...fun songs...and those dance numbers were right out of an MGM or Warner Bros musical! I wanted to be able to rewind and watch each number over again!!! And then getting to meet some of the cast afterwards was something I will always cherish!
AVENUE Q was a play I had never even considered seeing...but I am so glad I did...I never laughed so hard!! It really was a fun, fun time! It was both sweet and funny and if it ever goes on tour in Portland I think I might just like to see it again!
-
Oh, Freddy's a cat!

Weather Forces National Mall Evacuation
Posted: 2007-07-04 18:33:50
WASHINGTON (July 4) - Severe weather brought a tornado warning to Washington's suburbs Wednesday, prompting authorities to evacuate thousands of people gathered at the National Mall for a holiday concert and fireworks.
Officers on foot, on bicycles and on horses used megaphones to order the crowds to go into nearby buildings as the sky turned dark and winds picked up, authorities said.
Families packed their blankets and streamed off the grassy area that was to host a concert by the National Symphony Orchestra and fireworks viewing a few hours later.
…
Authorities said the evening's activities would continue as planned, and expected the crowds to be allowed background 7:30 p.m. once rain, lightning and hail cleared out.
The evacuated crowds would have to pass back through the checkpoints to get into the area.
The scene was reminiscent of last year, when a severe storm hit the Mall at about the same time and sent people fleeing. Crowds have reached 500,000 people or more in the past.

That's a great story, Jason! Someday (and soon, I'm sure) you'll be there, too! ;D

I bought a two-VHS tape set...the script for one episode was (co-?)written by Stephen Sondheim...yes, THE Stephen Sondheim! I don't think it wasn't "remastered" or anything like that, but it sure was watchable.

First of all, Thank You for all the Vibes. I'm sure they are what helped to keep my blood pressure down and nerves at bay this afternoon. My debut show on Keyboard 2 for ACL went well, and relatively smooth. However, there is a reason they call them "accidentals". C-natural, F-Sharp and E-natural to be exact. ;D
I'm back on this weekend for both matinees, and, now that I've got those first show nerves out of the way, Saturday should go a bit smoother, and less stress-y. And by then, I should be able to "be the harp" - those glissandos are currently the bane of my existence. However, everyone else who plays Key 2 has the same "issues", so that's a comfort. ;)

Currently, there are a few friends over here for food and drinks and board games, so, I guess I should attend to my guests.

Well, I have done not much of anything today. I did manage to get a hair cut. I was disgusted with the last stylist I went to, she kept doing the Dorothy Hamel wedge thing, not me. So of course I decided I had to have it cut today when the third string has the scissors. It's all right, a little too short here and there. It will look fine in a couple weeks

There are fireworks tonight at the Country Club which is only a couple blocks from my house. They don't advertise them, but they do them every year and they did have it posted on their website. So shortly after dark, I will walk out into the street and down two houses where the view is better and watch the fireworks.

One of these evenings I need to get some photos of the turkey buzzards. They have taken up residence on the cell phone tower across from Sonic. Hundreds of them. I took a loooooong nap! And am now watching my Bollywood movie of the weekend...one that I purchased in Little India (aka Jackson Heights) and which was recommended to me by the clerk at the store...MANNAT (2006) starring Jimmy Shergill, Kulraj Randhawa, Kanwaljit Singh and Deep Dhillon...25 minutes into it and it is quite good.
A drama about an army officer and a village girl who fall in love amidst the terrorist turmoil in the state of Punjab in 1985.

-
DR Laura, I also enjoyed the tale.
JRand-I didn’t see a response to your Bosco question. Bosco stayed with friends and is back home now.
-
MANNAT.
-
As has been mentioned DR JEANNE - the Topper Tv series DVD's are okay....Kathleen Freeman plays a maid in some of the episodes, and it's funny to see Leo G. Carroll as Topper. Anne Jeffreys and Robert Sterling are very good as the ghosts....but the stories are not so hot.
-
DR Laura, I also enjoyed the tale.
JRand-I didn’t see a response to your Bosco question. Bosco stayed with friends and is back home now.
Thank you, DR JANE....yes I got that drift as well. ;D

Did any Dear Reader DVR or otherwise record TWO TICKETS TO BROADWAY when it was on TCM last month or so?
I would like to have a copy to give to the director of SUNSHINE BOYS because of the Smith and Dale routines in it.
-
My allergies are terrible.....my eyes are watering and my nose is running and my ears are popping....
And once again....why do people come to someone's house and stay and stay and stay??????
-
And speaking of Bollywood, I am very happy that Rodzinski braved going to see an Indian film with me while I was in NYC...and as he mentioned it was quite a good film...sort of a gangster drama love story with wonderful music...Rodzinski even picked up the CD soundtrack!
The film was AWARAPAN and it starred Emraan Hashmi who is a fantastic actor...he can act rings around most performers just with his eyes alone.
Rodzinski was quite taken with the two female leads, neither of whom I was familiar with...I think this may have been their debut film as the IMDB doesn't seem to list any other credits for them.
-
I have to work tomorrow....I think I will take a pill and go to bed. No SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE this week...pre-empted for something or other.
-
Thanks for the Ruth Gordon book info, DR ELMORE....I shall go on a hunt for some of them.
-

DR JRand, I think I may have it on DVDr...my interviewee Angela Stevens has a tiny role in the film and I am pretty sure I recorded it. I shall check.
-
Awarapan Mannat sounds like a Bollywood star!
-

Muchas gracias.
Oh.....all right....all right......FROST/NIXON is back in the plus column in my book.... 8)

It is very hot in Salem, Oregon, USA.
I was supposed to go to a July 4th partay, but have decided to not attend...I just don't feel like leaving the home environment today. I shall watch movies instead.
-
Good choice.
And of course as everyone watches THE PRODIGAL, they might watch for Miss Allison Hayes as the girl with long red hair on the Carousel of Beauty.
-
NOW I am going to take a pill and go to bed....
-
I like your new quote DR MBARNUM!!
-
Hi folks! Happy 4th of July!
I took the dogs to the dog park for a good two hour run today in hopes it would tired them out for tonight. It seems to be working because Bear is passed out on the couch yet they are shooting off fireworks outside.
I heard from the guy from MOSI again. They are still looking for Mom's star. I can only guess that it is a new star and their software just isn't up to date.
Sleep study is this Friday. I am so hoping that if they do a video tape that they will let me see it.
I also decided to paint Mom's room Polar Bear White. Later on, I'll do a accent wall in what ever color I decide is best. I am also going to try to do the rest of the house. I know the living room has to be done. The hall and bathroom aren't very big so they won't take long.
I hope everyone is doing good. Vibes to those who need them.
-
I'm thrilled to see DR Jason and DR Noel back. :) I've missed you both.

Good Evening!
-Been watching "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS. Bebe Neuwirth... ?!?!?!?!? I believe her Kander & Ebb segment has already been added to YouTube, and that "goof tape" with Leslie Uggams.
DR elmore - If you missed it live, it's about to be rebroadcast, so tun in around 11:00-ish. ;D
-
DR MBarnum - Love your new signature! :)
-
Well... The partay is winding down. A few members of the current cast of Altar Boyz came by for a bit, so we put a few more burgers and chicken breasts on the grill. And I proceeded to have yet one more Fourth of July feast. :-X
-
If it hadn’t been so hot we would have taken Sherlock to the 4th of July parade & then gone to the craft fair. Instead I went for a walk before it got too hot. Then, in-between talking to Bryan & Craig, we bathed Sherlock. We took our shinny clean pup into town, walked along the shaded streets & had a late lunch, early dinner along the creek. If there had been any shade we would have gone to the arts & craft fair. The ground alone looked too hot to walk Sherlock on.
Not a very exciting 4th. There will be fireworks tonight & I would enjoy taking Sherlock. By 10:00, when they begin, Keith wants to be home & getting ready for bed. I’m too lazy to go on my own.
-
Hmm... So, I will playing rehearsal tomorrow morning at 10:00am, and Baayork will be having "class" at 9:00. So... To "class", or not to "class"? To have my quads burn(!) for three days, or not to have my quads burn(!) for three days. Hmm...
-
1776 is on TCM at 9:00 Central if anyone wants to watch but doesn't have it
-
I've never met Jason Graae, but he was one of the stars of Skip's show FEATHERTOP at the WPA Theater in NYC around 1984, along with Alix Korey, Stephen Bogardus and Laura Dean.
-
Back from a visit to the partay nearby, where I did not eat. Hence, I must eat now.
-

I hate to sound presumptuous or rude, DR Jose, but did you invite me? Someone sent me an e-card to a B-B-Q today and I couldn't get it to work! I'm just like Rita Gam: all dressed up and nowhere to go.
-
elmore, how frustrating & potentially embarrassing. ;D
Jose, I'm glad your show went well & you can relax now.
-
I've never met Jason Graae, but he was one of the stars of Skip's show FEATHERTOP at the WPA Theater in NYC around 1984,
I saw him as Candide in Candide at the Guthrie Theater, many years ago. He was pretty good.
-
Question for BK or anyone
Are you familiar with the works of Patrick Barlow and the National Theater of Brent?
-
I've never met Jason Graae, but he was one of the stars of Skip's show FEATHERTOP at the WPA Theater in NYC around 1984, along with Alix Korey, Stephen Bogardus and Laura Dean.
I believe I met Mr Graae in 1985 when he played Elmo in the first showcase of TALES OF TINSELTOWN. I wish he'd stop stalking me.
-
Welcome DR 3D Diffusion, tell us more about yourself. Are you from Minnesota?
-
I hate to sound presumptuous or rude, DR Jose, but did you invite me? Someone sent me an e-card to a B-B-Q today and I couldn't get it to work! I'm just like Rita Gam: all dressed up and nowhere to go.
Well, this was sort of a surprise party. Well, a surprise to me. The party just "happened" today, and I think was only planned yesterday, so... Thankfully, the gathering was small, and I've managed to clean up things as the party went along. -I was just not looking forward to a sink-full of dishes in the morning... Since I seem to be in one of my "clean moods". In any case...
I would have invited you, DR elmore, if I had had some advance notice. However, the mix of guests here tonight was well... interesting. I did have a good time, and we somehow managed to play some Florence Foster Jenkins and clips of "Prom Night: That Musical".
Besides, I think I saw enough of you last week to last me a few more days if not months. ;)
<MWAH>
-
Jose, I'm glad your show went well & you can relax now.
Thank you, DR Jane. Alas, there are two "little heart attacks" that got built into the keyboard programming that everyone "complains" about. It's just a matter now of coming to accept those things that we cannot change. ;)
-
On the upside, since my roommate bought a LOT of fresh fruit - blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, sour cherries, etc. - it looks like I'll be having some pretty good smoothies over the next couple of days.
-
A smoothie sounds good right now.
3D-It is nice to see you again. I'm sorry it is time for me to leave. I hope to read all about you tomorrow. Did DR A(dear reader) Sandra ask yet if you like cherry Coke?
'night
-
A Capitol Fourth started a few minutes ago, so I will go and watch it.
-
Oh -- we are back from the cookout. It was very hot.
-
Question for BK or anyone
Are you familiar with the works of Patrick Barlow and the National Theater of Brent?
I am, unfortunately, only familiar with the National Theater of Brent Barrett. Who is Partrick Barlow and why is he saying those terrible things about me?
Glad you're with us 3DDiffusion. How did you come upon our merry troupe?
-
So, who is the young man who needs a shave who is singing "America the Beautiful" and can't find a note and stay with it?
-
Welcome again, 3DDiffusion.
-
I'm pretty sure I just heard: "Jeremiah was a crawdad."
My hearing must be going.
-
Nice bowtie.
-
Laura, did I hear you say your herring is going?
-
;D
-
Are you from Minnesota?
Yes! I'm a long time theater-goer, and Minneapolis has an excellent theatrical scene. I do miss the old Guthrie Theater. >:(
A friend sent me this URL a few months ago so I've lurked for a while. I never knew what I was missing - with the photos and stats - until I joined.
I decided this was an excellent source for theatrical news, so I decided to join and try to pick your brains.
-
Do we know the friend who sent you here? We must thank him/her.
-
Welcome 3-D, you won't find a nice bunch of people then here on HHW!!! We are very happy that you have joined us!
-
This truly IS a swell bunch of people. Many of us have met in real life, and we support each other through all our ups and downs.
-

I agree, MPLS has some wonderful theatres. I am attending SPAMALOT at the end of July at the Ordway.
I have also been to the State Theatre some years ago after it was restored.
-
Welcome 3D!
-
Had a hard time deciding if i wanted to see MAMA MIA or SPAMALOT...
There was a touring company about 7 or 8 years ago that toured parts of the Upper Midwest doing productions of Shakespeare's A Midsummers Night's Dream.
-
I took myself a little nap when I went back down; about 45 minutes. I hope I don't pay a high price for that when I try to go to sleep for real in a little while.
-
MPLS has a wonderful theatre scene.
Are you from the Twin Cities DR 3D?
-
Minnesota Orchestra Hall is incredible and the acoustics are excellent. Even the seats are half way decent. I have seen The Chieftains twice there. Once with the just them and the second time with the Minnesota Symphony.
-
Ater I woke up and then read a little, I turned the home theater back on and watched the remainder of the DANTE'S COVE episode I had started earlier in the afternoon.
-
Next, I put in the Blu-ray disc of PAYBACK. This is a new director's cut of the film, and it is VERY different from the theatrical version. The last third of the film is very different indeed, so it was like I was seeing much of it for the first time. (A new score for the film is in place, too, and the blue diffusion used for the theatrcal version and on the first DVD is gone now.)
-
Well, I have done not much of anything today. I did manage to get a hair cut.
You did? Which one?? ;)
-
After that was over, I watched a "making of" documentary on the disc that went into detail about how the film was originally taken away from the director with ten days of reshooting. Nice to hear both sides of the question from the producers (including star Mel Gibson) and the director/writer.
-
I ended the evening watching FUNNY GIRL. I hadn't seen it in awhile, and it is such an enjoyable movie. And it seemed suitable for the 4th of July, too, I guess with Fanny Brice and her antics.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave my sister's house. We had a great afternoon of eating and conversation. I took a few pictures that I might post later. The local yokels are starting up the very loud and obnoxious noise makers, so I want to head home soon. The condo complex where I live has signs all around it saying "NO FIREWORKS AT ALL!" I'm happy about that. :)
-
I dont mind fireworks but my mother's dog does not like them. She runs and hides under the couch.
-
DBF and I went to the zoo today and saw several interesting animals. Alas, my camera did not work but I did see a few sights.
The Red River Zoo has raccoon dogs. They were having way too much fun in their pen playing on a log. They are sibling brothers and they were digging and then playing biting each others tails.
Got to see a baby Persian onager and the Red Pandas...
One of my favorite exhibits is the meerkats. They were busy digging, sleeping and some were chirping.
-
So, who is the young man who needs a shave who is singing "America the Beautiful" and can't find a note and stay with it?
Mr. American Idol, himself, Eliot Yamin.
*I think he was trying to channel the late Ray Charles.
-
I'm pretty sure I just heard: "Jeremiah was a crawdad."
My hearing must be going.
I did a few aural double-takes myself during Yolanda Adams' gospel-ized version of "Joy to the World" - the Three Dog Night version.
-
Oh, Freddy's a cat!
Well, Freddie is no dog!
-
To my utter amazement, it cooled down here again tonight, and I've cut off the A/C and started up the attic fan and p[ened the doors and windows. One more night of really comfortable sleep.
-
DR DearReaderLaura - I can't wait to see your reaction to Ms. Neuwirth's interpretations of "All That Jazz" and "Cabaret". To my ears, it sounded like she was trying to channel Lotte Lenya, Gwen Verdon and Donna Murphy imitating Lotte Lenya... And in the original keys too.
Frankly, although she does have quite the reputation as a "tough broad" - just ask DR elmore - she truly did not sound good at all tonight on the broadcast. And I know she's not "dumb" enough to put herself in the spotlight like that. Or maybe she is now. ???
-
Think I'll head down now to read a little bit and then try to get some sleep.
Good night!
-
Back from my friend's party, which was fantabulous, though I'm still a little hungry. I'm currently boiling a couple of fat-free hot dogs (1 point each), so I need to run for now so I don't burn down the jernt.
I'll be back later...
-
Interestingly, back in 1984 when I was doing The Good One at the Coast Playhouse, about ten minutes before the show there was a knock on the dressing room door, and it was Paul's mother. First time I'd seen her since the mid-60s.
I don't think you told me that, Bruce. But I know that my parents always remembered you, so I'm not surprised that Paul's mother did.
And if you're wondering, MUSIC GUY, yes, I remember Paul, but can't supply any additional information.
-
Jeanne, I have seen a DVD of the Topper TV series recently. I watched one episode but have no recollection of the picture quality. I imagine it was nothing to write home about but I probably had no complaints either. I have some of those budget Critic's Choice DVDs (Ann Sothern Show, and some others) and they look just fine to my eyes. I say go for it!
Thanks, Mike. I bought a deeply discounted CD once and it was awful, so I've been wary ever since. I'll give this a try.
-
DBF and I had a picnic earlier but we decided not to go to the fireworks. My misstepped at the zoo and went down on my derriere. Hip was too sore to sit on a hard surface.
-
Awww. . .this one's too easy!
DR TCB, are you developing a J-G crush?
Actually td, I should have had you tell Miss Jones of my continued love.
-
Po-po vibes to DR DakotaCelt

I am attending SPAMALOT at the end of July at the Ordway.
I saw Ian McKellen's Richard III at the Ordway... and Into The Woods...
So long ago. :'(
I spent most of my life in Minnesota but am now in Virginia...where there's very little theater worth mentioning.
-
DR DearReaderLaura - I can't wait to see your reaction to Ms. Neuwirth's interpretations of "All That Jazz" and "Cabaret".
I am not a singer or performer of any kind. I am only an audience member. I will say I thought she sounded "yelly" and very vibrato-y.
Doesn't anyone sing any more?
-
Ian McKellen is an amazing actor.
Into the Woods if a fine musical!
-
Earlier, someone mentioned the young man in 1776 who was just starting to sing Mama, Look Sharp. If that someone had looked sharp said someone would have realized said young man's connection to this here site.
-
Fargo-Moorhead has its moments.... theatre wise that is...
-
I bought a two-VHS tape set...the script for one episode was (co-?)written by Stephen Sondheim...yes, THE Stephen Sondheim! I don't think it wasn't "remastered" or anything like that, but it sure was watchable.
REALLY!! My, my.
-
I repeat my Ask DR question from last night: anyone with any good downtown San Francisco hotels to recommend?
http://www.hoteldiva.com/
This is where I usually stay, in Union Square. If you are able to arrange a coporate rate, so much the better.
They have fresh baked croissants and fresh squeezed OJ and coffee in an area on each floor in the AM. They turn down your bed at night, and they even straighten up your room.
This same company has several other small boutique hotels in downtown SF but the Diva is my favorite.
-
Earlier, someone mentioned the young man in 1776 who was just starting to sing Mama, Look Sharp. If that someone had looked sharp said someone would have realized said young man's connection to this here site.
I looked up the imdb listing for 1776 while we were watching it, and I did indeed see the connection.
-
Fargo-Moorhead has its moments.... theatre wise that is...
I used to go to the University Theater there! Can't remember the name of it, just Fargo Moorehead University? They put on some good shows. As did the U of M.
So you're from North Dakota, hence the name?
-
Stephen Nathan, William Duell or Mark Montgomery...
I am taking a wild guess and say William Duell. I do not have cable and have not seen it in years
-

Thanks, JRand. Do you think that most TOPPER fans would agree that the original TOPPER with Cary Grant is the best?
-
NDSU Theatre Dept did Follies: The Concert and Children's hour this past season. Both were excellent!
-
MSUM did THE FIRST FIVE YEARS about two years ago
-
When did you go to NDSU?
Moorehead State sounds familiar.
Never went there as a student....just to attend their theater. It's only an hour away from Minneapolis...at least it was!
I did attend the U of M for a while.
-
Earlier, someone mentioned the young man in 1776 who was just starting to sing Mama, Look Sharp. If that someone had looked sharp said someone would have realized said young man's connection to this here site.
Why didn't Ralston Hill do more TV work? I always liked him in 1776, the only TV thing he was ever in I think?
-
(http://www.foxnews.com/images/298774/0_61_070307_nathan1.jpg)
So that's what Bat Boy is doing now!
-
A number of years ago MSUM did Cole Porter's Anything Goes and that was excellent. Very well done.
-
I saw Ian McKellen's Richard III at the Ordway... and Into The Woods...

UofM has an excellent program. Love going to the theatre in the cities. MSUM has had some good plays also. In the last few years they have done some more radical plays. Will not even comment on how some reacted to The Vagina Monologue and The Penis Monologues.
Needless to say it woke up some sleeping minds
-
I am also an avid hockey fan... UND SIOUX!!!
-
If you are an hour or so from FArgo you must have been close to St Cloud
-
Mpls is a three and a half hour drive from Fargo
-

I would like to have a copy to give to the director of SUNSHINE BOYS because of the Smith and Dale routines in it.
Will it help you get the part?
-
DR 3DDiffusion - Which part of Virginia are you in? Richmond was my homebase for a number of years after college - I went to VCU, and I grew up in NoVa (Arlington and Fairfax). But I also had friends at UVa and VaTech, so I spent some time in Charlottesville and Blacksburg, as well as some time at Virginia Stage in Norfolk. Oh, and, of course, shopping at the outlet malls in Williamsburg, Potomac Mills and Leesburg.
-
Fat-free dogs are devoured along with some low-fat reduced-calorie ice cream. Yum! And now it's Thursday, so my points for the week have re-set and I'm good to go.
And I'm listening to my newly acquired cast recording of LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL.
-
Earlier, someone mentioned the young man in 1776 who was just starting to sing Mama, Look Sharp. If that someone had looked sharp said someone would have realized said young man's connection to this here site.
Yes, Stephen Nathan played Harry Schechter in The First Nudie Musical. Is that right?
-

DR Jason - Have you Shook things up yet? ;)
-
Mpls is a three and a half hour drive from Fargo
You're right! Jogged my memory. I lived in Frazee, right by Detroit Lakes, which is just an hour away from Moorehead, for about 5 years. Then moved to Minneapolis for 15 years or so...
-
Where did you live in Minnesota? I'm from Iowa
Mostly in Minneapolis.
-
And DR Jason - If you did Ms. Neuwirth's performance earlier tonight from the grounds of the Capitol... Well, I'm sure you'll be able to find it on YouTube sometime tomorrow. I think you would "appreciate" it. -Although, I think some of the PBS channels are rebroadcasting it right now, so...
-
DR 3DDiffusion - Which part of Virginia are you in? Richmond was my homebase for a number of years after college - I went to VCU, and I grew up in NoVa (Arlington and Fairfax). Been to Frazee adn Detroit Lakes many times... DL is a great place to go on a warm summer day. There is also a meat shoppe that makes the best bratwursts...
-
They widening and rebuiling Highway 10 From just east of Detroit Lakes to Moorhead. OH JOY!! it needs to be done though
-
DR Jason - Have you Shook things up yet? ;)
I have not yet. Keep on me about that so I don't forget. When do I see you next?
I didn't get to see Ms. Neuwirth tonight...we were on my friend's roof watching the fireworks, which was ah-mah-zing.
Tell Jimmy hi for me. :)
-
I know a gal from a soapboard who is in Norfolk
-
It is almost 9:30 p.m. and still 106F.
-
That is warm!
-
Small world. Or large board! I'm in Hampton.
Just plain ole Hampton? Or Hampton-Rhoads?
-So, have they finished I-64 yet?!?!?!?!
-
Stephen Nathan it is. In one of the Paramount press sheets for Mr. Nathan it says - From Jesus to Nudie - since Mr. Nathan originated the role of Jesus in Godspell.
-
Well, I'm going to attempt to get to "class" tomorrow with Baayork, so, I best get some sleep. And soon. I'm only in rehearsal from 10:00-Noon, and then I have a coaching with "our favorite waiter", and that's my day tomorrow. Which, hopefully, means I can come back to the apartment tomorrow afternoon and finally clear all the mail and papers that have been accumulating on my desk over the past week.
Well, since I need to be up and about in eight hours...
Laters...
-
Oh... I meant...
Goodnight.
-Guess I am tired.
-
Pleasant dreams DR Jose!
-
I see DR Sandra lurking about...
HI, SANDRA!!!
-
HI, JASON!!!
-
For the 4th of July I went to my hairdressers home ( only a few blocks from the home of our dear BK ) to watch the fireworks at CBS studio. Also with us was a lady who graduated Hamilton the same year as our dear BK and remembered him.
-
Earlier, someone mentioned the young man in 1776 who was just starting to sing Mama, Look Sharp. If that someone had looked sharp said someone would have realized said young man's connection to this here site.
My sister and I started to watch "1776" on TCM at about the 40 minute mark and I told her this bit of information (the young man's connection to this here site) when that song started and she said, "He made that kind of a movie?" I then explained what kind of a movie it really was and who else was in it and then she said, "Cindy Williams made that kind of a movie??" ;)
-
Well, even though it's only about 11:30 on this fine July 4th, I'm going to bed. Tomorrow is a work day and I have many errands to run at lunch time and I want to get my time in. So, I'm Wussburgering and saying good night.
-
Good night.
-
There. I've said it and I'm glad.
;D
-
But before I go...I'll show the two pictures that I took (and I'm lucky that I remembered to take any at all ::)).
Here's my dad (his name is George) and his sister (my aunt) who is a Sister...Sister Cecelia:
-
And here's Sister Cecelia showing our dessert...Patriotic Shortcake! Scones with strawberries (red), whipped cream (white) and blueberries (blue)! It was all quite delish! And the gentleman sitting behind Sister Cecelia is (here's the whole path) my sister's daughter's father's sister's husband. :)
-
