Well, you've read the notes, the notes hustled and then, a short time later, they bustled, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're doing the hustle right now.

I've just been paying bills, which may keep me up all night as I try to figure out how I'm going to pay all of them. Luckily, I get paid today, but still...a $315 electric bill?!?! And it's not even August yet, so the A/C hasn't been on THAT much!

Well, I am out of bed, but I am exhausted.  I got very little sleep last night.  The firecrackers and fireworks started in earnest at about 9:30 (and Tacoma shortly after that).  The big waterfront fireworks started at 10:30 and went until 11:00.  After that, the local yokels continued to fire off their life savings until 2:30 this morning.

Naturally, fireworks are totally illegal in Tacoma, but with the Puyallup Tribal Nation located within the city limits, it isn't tough for anyone with a wad of cash to get just about anything they want.

It takes the enjoyment out of the 4th.  Why don't we change the rules, and set off fireworks on the eve of Independence Day.  Then those poor saps that have to work on the 5th could get some sleep.

Despite the torrential rains last night, I had a good time at the concert on the Parkway.  My neighbor lady and I huddled 'neath her humongous golf umbrella taking in the sounds of the lovely and sassy Miss Patti Labell.  Fortunately, we had to endure only two songs from So You Think You Have Talent winner Bianca What's-her-name.  (I think it's unbelievable that this kid is getting away with her rendition of "And I Am Telling You".  It was sort of cute when she first started doing it last year, but now it's like something from a minstrel show.)

Surprisingly, the crowd only thinned slightly as we all waited for the arrival on stage of Hall & Oates.  Daryl Hall has evolved to the aging hippie look over the years, but John Oates now looks damn fine (to me, anyway.)  I think they were a little thrown by the pouring rain, because they sounded off during the first few songs (Daryl Hall was sort of screechy in particular.)  And with the inclusion of a string section, their sound was not initially as robust as it used to be.  But as they got deeper into their set, Hall found his voice and the band really started rockin'.  By the time it was over, almost everyone had lowered their umbrellas because we were all boppin' and groovin' along.

The bummer about last night was that at the end of the concert, they announced to the crowd that the fireworks presentation was cancelled because of the rain and an approaching thunderstorm.  So my neighbor lady and I strolled home.  While I was taking a nice hot shower at home, I heard what I thought was thunder.  When I came out and checked out the TV, I saw that the city had decided to run the fireworks anyway--twenty minutes after the crowd had completely left the Parkway!  What lunkhead made this decision is what I want to know!

Where to begin?

Let's just say it's a shame they didn't cancel last night's Capitol Fourth concert in DC.

During the opening, I was shocked to learn that Tony Danza had a large melanoma on his cheek - on closer inspection it seems it was one of those darling little cheek mikes.

Our National Anthem has destroyed many a singer - Hayden Panettiere is now no exception.

Elliott Yamin was given a new smile, a fright wig from a Three Stooges' movie and the worst arrangement of America the Beautiful ever heard.

Erich Kunzel did an orchestral ad-lib to salute our servicemen; he was so impressed with his improvisation that he continued it through half of Danza's opening remarks.

Yolanda Adams was resplendent in a gorgeous blue satin gown, adorned with gobs of diamonds, and absurdly accessorized with a clunky sports' wrist watch with a bulky leather strap! She also choose to "accessorize "God Bless America" by adding some class to Berlin's lyrics -it is a much more polite version: "Please, God Bless America".

If you're going to costume Bebe Neuwirth for a Chicago/Cabaret number, why go with Virgin White, of course.

Unhappy with Bebe's version of Cabaret (who wasn't) interrupt it with the start of the fire works! At least Kunzel waited till after Krystal Nacht before starting the 1812 Overture.

America would have been better served if the tornados had struck and taken us all to OZ.

Exclusive: U.K. Terror Plot -- Why the Bombs Failed
The London bomb plot allegedly planned by a cell of doctors failed early last Friday morning because a medical syringe used as part of the firing mechanism caused a malfunction, ABC News has learned.

According to nonclassified documents reviewed by ABC News, and confirmed by multiple sources, both mobile telephones initiated firing mechanisms rigged inside a Mercedes E 300 parked several yards from the front door of Tiger Tiger nightclub failed despite multiple calls to the cell phones designed to remotely trigger the devices.
...

Good Show - let's make sure the terrorists know where they went wrong so they don't make the same mistake next time!

Good morning, all.  I was reading more of Ruth Gordon's autobio MY SIDE and got to her father's death. Like my father, he  was a sailor, and he wanted her to become a physical education teacher.  Like me, she went into the performing arts, and like my dad, he supported her decision, perhaps more kindly than my dad originally did, but I believe both fathers lived long enough to appreciate their offsprings' accomplishments.  Also, today is the anniversary of last year's exposure of the Macbeths ill will and resentment, so I'm a bit down today.  I'm listening to Anthony Warlow sing "Moon River" as I type this and feeling rather melancholy.

I have to stop by the office again this morning to confirm it's secure, and then I return here  to work on Mr Spirtas' charts.

I think the Cult Classics boxes are wonderful values. The transfers are very good, and most of the films aren't those that would have ever gotten an individual release.

My only quibble is that I wish Warners had used slim cases instead of regulation Amray cases. These take up FAR too much room if one has bought all four sets.

'Unchained Melody' Writer Hy Zaret Dies
Posted: 2007-07-03 12:36:14

WESTPORT, Conn. (July 3) - Lyricist Hy Zaret, who wrote the haunting words to "Unchained Melody," one of the most frequently recorded songs of the 20th century, has died at age 99.

Zaret died at his home Monday, about a month shy of his 100th birthday, his son, Robert Zaret, said Tuesday.

He penned words to many songs and advertising jingles but his biggest hit was "Unchained Melody," written in 1955 for a film called "Unchained." It brought Zaret and Alex North, the composer, an Academy Award nomination for best song.

Zaret refused the producer's request to work the word "unchained" into the lyrics, instead writing to express the feelings of a lover who has "hungered for your touch a long, lonely time."

The song was recorded by artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, Lena Horne, U2, Guy Lombardo, Vito & the Salutations and Joni Mitchell, who incorporated fragments into her song "Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody."

An instrumental version was a No. 1 hit in 1955 for Les Baxter, while a vocal version by Al Hibbler reached No. 3 the same year.

But most baby boomers remember the song from the Righteous Brothers' version. The record, produced by Phil Spector, reached No. 4 on the Billboard chart in 1965, and was a hit again 25 years later when it was used on the soundtrack of the film "Ghost."

In all, it was recorded more than 300 times, according to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, which listed it in 1999 as one of the 25 most-performed musical works of the 20th century.

I have yet to crack open my Cult Camp Classics: Sci Fi Thriller set.

Last night I watched the 1950s Columbia film CITY OF FEAR starring Vince Edwards (yowza!) as an escaped con who is carring a container of dangerous radioactive substances, thinking it is heroin,  which could wipe out the population of L.A.

Not a bad movie. My DVR picked up several interesting movies whilst I was away on vacation.

Also today, my mom goes in for surgery today and will likely be in the hospital for a few days. She will reside at my sisters while she recuperates.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

Well, I actually found myself up at 6:30am - ?!?!?! - but then decided to sleep until my alarm went off.  Of course, when it did go off at 7:30, I decided to listen to the radio for a bit... Until around 8:30... And then I made some coffee... Took a shower... And headed to the subway...

I just finished the two hours of ACL rehearsal I was booked for this morning, and then I have a coaching at 1:30, and then the rest of the day is all mine.  I do have all that aforementioned stuff to clear off my desk, but at least I took care of my laundry earlier in the week.  -Now I just need to actually put the fitted sheet on my mattress.  ;)

DR Jason - $315?!?!?!  We have three A/C units in our apartment and a washer and dryer, and we've never had an electric bill anywhere close to that.  Are people turning them off when they leave the apartment for the day?  -Maybe you need to start turning off your computers when you leave too, that would help.  *At least that's what all those ConEd posters say in the subway.

'Morning, all... Well...afternoon.

The $315 bill was for a month and a half. I left a note on the door letting the roommates know that I need payment by tomorrow and that they have to start turning things off when they leave the room - like the lights and TV - and turn everything off when they leave for the day. I doubt that one of them will pay any heed to my instruction.

I remember my first summer in New York, our electric bills were right around $300/mo. I had never used a window unit air conditioner, so I had no idea how much power they used. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

I love "Blow, Gabriel, Blow." It's a great song, and it makes the sick side of me giggle because my mind goes to the double entendre of the title. I know...I'm a sicko.

And DR Jason?  What is the proper greeting for him? "Welcome back" (did you find the Golden Fleece?)? Or since that was before my time, "Hello, nice to meet you" or since he was a HHWer before me, I should get a greeting from him "Welcome DR Karen, where have you been all my life?" ... I could not find this referenced in my HHWer Member Handbook...

Soooo, I'll just go the polite route and say: "Welcome back, DR Jason. Nice to met ya! You were missed by so many. Of course, not me, because I did not know that I was supposed to be missing you, but if you stray again, know that you will be missed."

Well, I'll send my gnome roommate who leaves every light on in the apartment with his air conditioner running with the doors and windows open and we'll see what your bill turns out to be. He's an idiot. And a new member of Actor's Equity. (He bought his way into the union through a lesser-known sister union, so I don't really consider him to be a member of AEA. Not that I'm bitter or anything... Besides, it's not like he's actually gotten a union job yet...cause he has no talent. What? Did I say that??).

If anyone finds any interesting BIG BROTHER  sites please post them.

Supposedly at the link below there will be an interesting bunch of BIG BROTHER contests.  I think they may be for Canada only. Although I'm not sure exactly how they would check that.  I may enter if it seems interesting.

Good Afternoon!

Back at the apartment for a bit.  As it turns out, I will not have the rest of today free to do as I wish.  Instead, at 6:00 I shall be playing for some National Dance Conference presentation - they will be running a mock audition for A Chorus Line.  So, I get a free dinner and drink, and I get paid too!  And it will be over by 8:00.  This could either be really good or really good, if you get my drift.  ;)

My favorite Cole Porter song is Every Time We Say Good-bye  which, if my sources are correct, is one of the last songs he wrote.  If they aren't correct, at least it was a good story

No, your sources are wrong.  It's from a 1940s revue THE SEVEN LIVELY ARTS.  He still had THE PIRATE, KISS ME KATE, OUT OF THIS WORLD, CAN-CAN, HIGH SOCIETY, LES GIRLS, and SILK STOCKINGS to write.

DR Matt, if you're going to follow along on the forums, why not just watch?

Becuase I get WAY too emotionally involved. Enough so that I lose sleep and take things personally. You remember how I get with AMERICAN IDOL (and how I got with GREASE). This is why I choose reality shows very, very carefully.

IDOL and PROJECT RUNWAY are the only ones I will actually watch now. That's all my emotions can stand.

Then I watched THE PRODIGAL. It isn't the most scintillating Biblical-based epic I've ever seen, but it had its moments, and I rather enjoyed it. Still didn't find it any campier than any of DeMille's Bible-based pictures. The dialog just isn't purple enough for camp. Anne Baxter's lines in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS are true camp classics. Nothing here even approaches that level of purple prose..

The film did look very good (nice surround sound, too) with only a place or two where there was some kind of film artifact.

Since I had less than an hour left for afternoon viewing, I started THE PRODIGAL over again with Dr. Drew Casper's commentary track engaged. It was very funny, funnier than the film, I thought.

He goes into paroxysms of delight when Lana takes her long, strident walks across the frame, but he does offer some good information about the principals before and behind the camera.

I was afraid he was going to omit James Mitchell, my favorite performer in the film, from any discussion, but he did eventually get around to him.

A. Replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy-saving fluorescents also does wonders in cutting electric bills.

B. Sicko is charming ;)

I believe that last weekend, DR Matt H watched an episode of MURDER SHE WROTE with a far more recent performance by Vince Edwards.  Perhaps you might inquire as to the title of that episode.  Mr. Edwards appears wearing nothing but a towel.

I had a situation today that bothers me, and I'm not sure of the outcome here: are radio and tv broadcasts copyrighted? Are all these items on Youtube and rapidshare kosher or a violation?  Someone has downloaded the complete BBC broadcast of Cole Porter's JUBILEE onto rapidshare, and I alerted the Cole Porter Musical and Literary Trust to it. They're with a large lawfirm and if they want to pursue the matter, I'm all for it.

If and when I pass around CDs of JUBILEE, I've got an edited set of discs in which I can remove all of the falsehoods in the announcer's introduction but the fact that a complete broadcast with lies concerning my involvement is out and about for anyone to download bothers me.  It's my career and my work being affected and I feel duty bound to protect myself since Ian Marshall Fisher and his London team didn't.

So, is this a copyright violation or is the attitude that tv and radio broadcasts are Public Domain?

By the way dear DR Jason......I have my electric bill on an "equalizer plan" so that I pay the same amount each month, and it balances out at the end of the year.  And my AVERAGED OUT amount is....... $400.00 a month.

OY !!

:o The most I've every paid for electricity is $130...and that's in my new place that's three stories tall!  The least that I've paid in my new place is about $35.  It's VERY nice when it's that low. :)

Thank you, Der B. UNCHAINED MELODY is one of my all-time favorite songs; I just adore it. But I didn't know much about the writer.

The Manhattan Transfer recorded an up-tempo doo-wopp version (from the album "Bop Doo-Wopp (http://www.tmtfanclub.com/bop.html)") and it's probably the only TMT song that I don't care for. ::) However, Elaine Paige recorded it on her British-only released "Cinema (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cinema-Elaine-Paige/dp/B0000250B3/ref=sr_1_1/202-3293983-3123848?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1183677073&sr=8-1)" CD and that's probably my all-time favorite version of the song.

My whole issue with Youtube myspace etc is the invasion of people's rights to original material etc.  But then I have mixed moral issues re copying music. I support downloads from the internet - if they are paid for.  I will copy music myself (I've at least purchased it) for others - but in most cases only when people could not get the material easily otherwise.

I have that whole hypocracy of I'll accept copied times obtained through non legitmate means but will certainly not buy pirated music or DVDs. On the other hand I'll copy some DVDs (not sell) for friends with whom I wish to share the pleasure of the film. (in most cases the source material is not readily available in OZ).  Confusing but there are just so many shades of grey and gray.

Whew! I was supposed to go to a movie tonight with my friend from New Orleans.  She doesn't get back often, is still living in a FEMA trailer and is working on rebuilding the city.  Anyway, I wasn't exactly thrilled about going to Evan Almighty, but she said she never gets to go to movies, so I was going to...she just called and cancelled.  She is going to do something with her mom, which is fine.

So, is this a copyright violation or is the attitude that tv and radio broadcasts are Public Domain?

Several people have posted THE INTERNATIONALE on YouTube and another site. The WHOLE FILM, in 10 minute chunks! Since we are still in debt on this film, we were pretty perturbed. (I have given many copies to friends or people I thought might like it, but when I do, even though it's partly my film, I have always bought them from the distributor or Deep Discount, whoever has it the cheapest.) Even more annoying---the people commenting were thanking the poster: "Power to the people", etc. as though they had made the film themselves.

The people who posted/commented refused to believe that Peter, the director, was writing in and accused him of being an imposter.

We reported the whole incident to YouTube and they removed it for us.

Several of my friends said that I was being hypocritical because I watch videos on YouTube. But the type of things I watch are usually thing that would never been offered for sale, or else are tv clips that are available on a network's website for free.

I am guessing that it's like Cillaliz says---the copyright holders would have to remove it. If they don't, can you post a comment on the share site, like you can on YouTube? If so, you could set the record straight---and with direction, other DR's will back you up. Lemme at 'em, I'll kick their a$$es. What an insult after all your hard work; and wonderful work, too. (I've also been robbed of a few credits in my time by sleazeballs, so I know how it feels.)

I don't have a problem accepting material that isn't available for purchase---bootlegs, etc.  Having been on several fan lists of rabid music fans, I know that the people who are interested are also going to be the ones that buy it if it is ever commercially released.

Several people sent me bootleg copies of the SMILE concert---these were passed around until the actual album came out, to tide over the fans. Although it was a great recording, the sound was still inferior to the actual release. The fans who enjoyed this bought the release when it was available, as well as the video, when it came out, to have the official copy as well as to support an artist they love.

Well, we didn't do this for money...we know that is an unrealistic expectation for a documentary like this. That's why Peter and I both have regular jobs, so we can work on labors of love like this, (or THE BRAIN, or a half a dozen other freebie projects this year.)

We are lucky to have friends like you and other DR's on the list (and I know who you are!) who have either bought copies of our film or have supported us in other ways.  But archival footage, music and stills cost so much now that we're probably crazy to make historical ocumentaries (without using reenactments!).

If we broke even on our own films, we would be ecstatic. How is that so capitalistic?

Good Evening!

I'm back from the Waldorf-Astoria...

First of all, the W-A is apparently in the middle of some major refurbishing/remodeling.  And that includes the sidewalk and entryways.  I was told to enter on the Park Ave. side, but it took me a while to find the temporary Park Ave. entrance.  Thankfully, it's still on Park Ave., just a few doors down.

Secondly, the "kids" that were assembled for this mock audition were mainly high-schoolers, 15-17 year olds.  There were about 200 young women and young men, and they all danced pretty darn well!  We basically ran an actual audition.  We taught the short version of the Opening Combination, made a cut, then taught the complete combination.  Very impressive.

-And I lost track of how many times I played the Opening after the 200th time.  ::)

Yesterday was fun...I went to the parade with my Mom and a few friends. My niece Sophie and her boyfriend drove down from the mountainsl it's our tradition to spend the 4th together, but I usually have to go and pick her up. Since I had to work today, I was very glad she had a ride back, otherwise I would have gotten home at 2AM.

I took the kids out for lunch and to a college she's thinking about attending, and then back for a cookout with friends of ours that she's gotten to know over the years, and then fireworks.

The challenge was trying to get them back to the highway. It took me over half an hour to drive one block because so many idiots were making their own traffic rules and messing things up for those of us who obey the rules to make traffic flow better. One guy actually came up to our car and requested that we all turn around and go the other direction because he was a block from his house and couldn't get home because of the gridlock. So why he didn't just walk to the fireworks we beyond me. My DH was behind my car and did turn around, and it took him another 15 minutes to get home!

I had the kids follow me to the interstate and then drove until they got on the road that would take them straight home. And then came home and collpsed!

The parade and fireworks get more crowded every year, and the parade gets worse every year. Only 2 bands...mostly politicians and beauty queens in cars. We used to have Shriners, a llama brigade, a precision lawn chair troupe, dozens of young African American women in Southern belle hoop skirts, the Falun Dalfa, unicycle groups, cloggers. One year, Michael Moore even marched in the parade in a segment for TV NATION.

Where did they all go?

My brother and his wife and kids were visiting from Ohio , we met at my Mom;s for a 4th of July brunch then they toddled off to her sisiter's house and we hung around 'til 5 and then went home and vegetated

Our nect door neighbor, the local firework king musta taken his show on the road, because for once it was peaceful and quiet, today our yard, roof and pool were NOT covered in thousands of pounds of shredded paper, gunpowder residue and discarded beer cans and our house was not filled with smoke

hardly seemed like a holiday at all

The Manhattan Transfer recorded an up-tempo doo-wopp version (from the album "Bop Doo-Wopp (http://www.tmtfanclub.com/bop.html)") and it's probably the only TMT song that I don't care for. ::) However, Elaine Paige recorded it on her British-only released "Cinema (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cinema-Elaine-Paige/dp/B0000250B3/ref=sr_1_1/202-3293983-3123848?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1183677073&sr=8-1)" CD and that's probably my all-time favorite version of the song.

thanks for the info, GEORGE.

Had a very enjoyable evening of viewing. I began with Episode 1 from Season 6 of MURDER SHE WROTE. In this one, Jessica is in Athens and once again gets mixed up with Michael Haggerty (Len Cariou) who's trying to rescue a fellow MI-6 agent from some kidnappers.

Next I watched A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION, the Robert Altman film with a wonderful cast of actors: Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, Garrison Keillor himself (of course), Lindsey Lohan (ugh!), Tommy Lee Jones, and Virginia Madsen.

I really really enjoyed the movie. The music was just wonderful (no wonder Meryl got tapped for the movie of MAMMA MIA after folks saw her singing so well on this. Of course, she's sung in other movies, but never this much material and in harmony quite often as well.) I didn't like Kevin Kline's idiot character very much, and Lohan is just not my cup of tea (and she hit a fair number of bad notes in her climactic solo).

But it was just enjoyable to sit back and let the spell of the piece waft over you.

Next, I went back to MURDER SHE WROTE and watched the second episode. This one involved the death of a man, a girl confessing to the murder to a priest in the confessional, and a very involved solution to the crime. I remember seeing this one the first time it aired and being stunned by the killer's identity. Seeing it again, of course, the clues to the solution are much more obvious.

Among the guests were Madelyn Rhue, Robert Horton, and Lance Kerwin.

And I ended my evening watching one more MURDER SHE WROTE. This was the first one in a series of programs this season where Jessica was not a part of the mystery. In order to give Angela a somewhat lighter work schedule, CBS allowed her to have "guest" detectives solve cases while Jessica merely bookended the shows with brief commentary. These shows were never as much fun, and I never looked forward to them.

In this one, there were actually THREE sleuths trying to solve the crime: June Havoc as a mystery writer, Robert Vaughn as a radio sleuth, and Marc Chapman as a newspaper puzzle expert who was trying to break into the real journalism/crime solving business. Other guests were Henry Polic II, Paxton Whitehead, Dane Clark, and Gordon Thomson.

America would have been better served if the tornados had struck and taken us all to OZ.

der Brucer

Some was good but I would take Barry Bostwick anyday over Tony Danza

This was from an unused Ellery Queen (Jim Hutton) script, with Robert Vaughn taking the Simon Brimmer/John Hillerman role.

Makes sense since he (Vaughn) was totally shown up. That script must have been sitting around a LONG, LONG time since ELLERY QUEEN was a 1975-76 series. BTW, ELLERY QUEEN (the Jim Hutton version) was my all-time favorite mystery series, and I'm heartbroken Universal hasn't seen fit to package these shows into a DVD box.

If we broke even on our own films, we would be ecstatic. How is that so capitalistic?

A. I don't donsider "capitalist" a vile epithet, it's a American-way compliment.

B. It is admirable that you are willing to give up your labor for no profit; but, you deserve a profit, and with a profit you would be enabled to do even more good.

The Holiday Inn in Fairmont, MN is closed for renovation [can you imagine what it looked like BEFORE?], so we are staying at the lovely Comfort Inn.  I think I see a cow out the window...     :)

If it is the same one owned by the people in Alexandria, you do not want to know...

Off the top of my head.... There are grey areas in the copyright laws

Yes, they are acopyrighted. However some broadcasts from britian will be loosing copyright and this will happen with the some of the Beatles and Rolling Stones stuff.

In the US it is 125 years after.

Oh, and I'm not a raving Socialist---just somewhere between a Socialist and a capitalist.

But you are completely misguided calling me a "skirt-wearer"!

Well, I'm not a raving Capitalist - my Republican's friends on the right think I'm a raving Progressive (or worse).

Noting that I am "misguided" will not make the news :)

And for the "skirt-wearer" issue, I claim poetic license to help make the metaphors work. Should you in slacks and I in a kilt approach the Restaurant restrooms, I suspect we will both find a way to reconcile the apparent conflict between our garb and the symbols on the doors.

I think it would be fun if we went to dinner as attired above, and strictly observed the signage - you take the pants, I'll take the skirt, and Cillaliz can take our case 8)

I have no issue with sharing stuff but what gets my goat is people on some soapboards selling complete episodes of different soaps for 25 bucks a vhs tape, not just edits but the complete show and from what I understand that is a violation of copyhright.

I have no issue with sharing.

Yep!  Indeed, that is what they have.  What they have is that, indeed.     :P      :)

I see that Aunty Cillaliz has a beautiful new nephew!!  How is the new law practice going?

It's just getting started but freedom feels wonderful!!!  I'm technically not open yet, but everyone thinks I am so I've been there almst every day this week and am getting phone calls and referrals. If this is any indications, it's going to be great

I must get to sleep....it's late, I've been up with Linda Santi - my friend from New Orleans....

OH! I can't believe this, but it's true.  Paul Simon is going to be here tomorrow with Chris Dodd and is going to play a 30 min. free concert at the West High School softball field.  Only in Iowa.....and only for politics....lol..I'm going, of course, who would miss a free Paul Simon concert

They are expecting around 600 for the concert, lol.   The really funny thing is everyone thinks it's Paul Simon the senator from Illinois, but he died. No one believes it's the Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkle.  It will be interesting to see how big the crowd is.
