Well, you've read the notes, the notes were blurry, and now it is time for you to post until the blurry cows come home.

IMDB NEWS (http://www.imdb.com/news/sb/2007-07-18/#3)

Quote
New Edition of Controversial 'Caligula' To Be Released

Caligula, the 1976 film that featured such respected actors at Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, Helen Mirren, and the late John Gielgud -- all of whom were blindsided when producer Bob Guccioni of Penthouse magazine fame cut x-rated scenes into the movie -- is due to be released on DVD as the "Four-Disc Imperial Edition" by Image Entertainment on October 2nd, the distributor announced Tuesday. The film has previously been released in versions that were as short as 98 minutes and as long as three hours. In a statement, the company said that the DVD set will include newly recorded, no-holds-barred commentary tracks by McDowell and Mirren. In addition, the set includes two versions of The Making of Caligula, one of which includes deleted and alternate scenes.

Let me hazard a few guesses:

A. DR Barnum has never heard of it.
B. DR Ginny's library won't stock it
C. It will fail to make DR Jane's Netflix list
D. DR MATTH will have an essay on skin-tone transfers
E. HHW Spoiler-Alert policy may need revisiting
F. DR JMK will know of a Brazilain Jazz version of the soundtrack
G. DR Elmore will insist on a VCR version

I'm up...I'm up.

It's too early for anyone to be awake, let alone myself. This is when I'm usually going to bed!

As I was getting ready this morning, I pulled out an old container of hair pomade that I haven't used in a long time. I'm out of hair product, so I'm using it as a last resort. Well...someone should have reminded me that a little dab'll do ya, cause I am WAXY right now. Stick a wick in my hair and you'd have one big birthday candle. Still, I can't be bothered to wash it out just now, and it seems to be "relaxing" just a bit as my hair dries.

I'm about to call a car service to take me to the airport. Let's keep our fingers crossed that when I get to said airport, my plane will still be scheduled to leave on time....

Sweet!

The Landless Theatre Company July 19, 2007

Unpopular teen witch, Carrie Potter, gets her First Magic, falls in love, and meets Jesus - just in time for the prom!

Nobody can do Fringe like Landless Theatre Company! (After all, they're Fringe all year long!) So, come out and see how the rock-and-rollers do it with Landless' original musical, CARRIE POTTER AT THE HALF-BLOOD PROM.

Only 5 shows at Atlas Performing Arts Center, located at 1333 H Street, NE.

Sunday, July 22, 8pm
Monday, July 23, 8pm
Friday, July 27, 6pm
Saturday, July 28, 6:30pm
Sunday, July 29, 5pm

And hey, boys and girls, if you haven't had a chance to see the beautiful Atlas Center before, take this excellent opportunity, with the 2nd Capital Fringe Festival and CARRIE POTTER AT THE HALF-BLOOD PROM, to experience the theater's state-of-the-art acoustics and design!

Tickets are $15/show through the Fringe box office (or follow the link online at www.landlesstheatrecompany.org). BTW, if there was any doubt, this show is NOT for children, or humorless evangelicals of monotheistic or wicca persuasions.

Mars sextiles Uranus this week....and we ALL know what that means.

What a great combination we have when Mars in determined Taurus is activated by independent Uranus! With this high-energy aspect you'll be able to accomplish just about anything you set your mind to. So, plan ahead and carve out a new path, cook up something that improves your life, or take a chance on something you wouldn't previously have even considered. You are especially creative now. Take advantage of this opportunity to think outside the box and create something new, fun and interesting!

OK, TOD.  Mind you, this is subject to arbitrary, capricious, and frequent CHANGE:

In no particular order:

* Follies - the original cast, but NOT the OBC: the complete show, from the soundboard.
* King's College Choir, Cambridge: The choral music of Herbert Howells
* Britten: War Requiem [Britten conducting]
* Britten: Peter Grimes [again, composer's original recording]
* some Carpenters compilation
* some Copland compilation, including Appalachian Spring
* some Bernstein compilation including the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, or perhaps Bernstein's Mass
* some Samuel Barber compilation - probably the Thomas Schippers
* Nancy LaMott: Just In Time for Christmas
* Ella Fitzgerald: The Complete Songbooks boxed set [cheating, I know!]

Today, I'm only working until 1pm, then taking the afternoon off to get ready for my book group's potluck dinner at our house.  This month and next, we're reading Alison Weir's The Life of Elizabeth I.  Tonight, after our dinner we'll watch part 1 of HBO's Elizabeth I and next month, at someone else's house, we'll have another potluck and watch part 2.

The 7:20 phone call was semi-good news about potential work and I neede to rally the team today.  Shortly, I have to run down to the padlocked Toyland and deal with a few things, make a few telephonic calls and learn what - if any - fresh hell results from yesterday's embarassment.  I can only say that I unwisely, out of sheer ignorance, contacted someone  that I should not have and there may be unpleasant fallout.  Mr Farrow, former DR here, very snidely and aggressively pointed out my failures in computer etiquette on the Cast Recording List, and I live in fear that something similar will happen after yesterday.  It isn't that I deserve the chastisement, I'm mortified that it occurred.

DR Elmore, I hope everything resolves itself today in your favor. I join the choir who says don't let your personal stuff go into storage. This brings up an ethical discussion my DH and I had yesterday. He had a dream that a kid backed into his car where he was working and damaged the door. The kid came back into the studio to tell DH who had happened. Since the kid could have just taken off, like many would, but made the decision not to, DH felt like he should be rewarded for doing the right thing.

He said that he would let the kid's parent know what happened, but offer to split the cost of repair, since DH would have had to shoulder the whole cost if the kid had not been honest.

I thought that it would teach the kid more responsibility if he had to pay the whole amount, and I wouldn't tell the parents.

Thinking about this later, I started to believe my DH had the better solution. But what was most interesting to me about it is that real parents deal with these kind of decisions every single day. Hats off to all parents/grandparents/uncles/aunts, etc. who take the time to help raise our kids right!

~~~Travel vibes to Jason~~~
I've spent a bit of time in Louisville (or Louseyville, as we affectionately called it). The explosion in NY yersterday reminded me of when, 25 years ago, the Ralston Purina plant caused an explosion of sewage that ripped thru the downtown and the college campus. Manhole covers were blown off and found blacks away. There was a sewagey smell there for months. Surprisingly, no one was killed.
Them was some stinky times, I tell you!
TOD-D.I.D.:
Because "Best Of..." compilations usually don't include some of my favorite songs by an artist, I would take my own compilations of my favorites. Is that cheating?
Paolo Conte
Van Dyke Parks
Squeeze
Joe Jackson
Francis Cabrel
Randy Newman
Harry Nilsson
Guy Haines
The Beatles
Bryn Terfel (my new favorite!)
I would include orchestral music, but if I was on a desert island, I think I would be able to stay saner and mentally sharper by remembering lyrics (and singing along, where no one else could hear me!)
Spanking cats doesn't work. It just makes them mad and they don't learn anything. If you feel you must discipline a cat, get a spray bottle, like you use for plants and spray water when they are doing the deed.  This makes an unpleasant association and they won't do it again. Apparently this is true, I've never had the heart to do it. I just yell "NO" and they stop.
I agree completely.  I licensed Spaceship to a German company, and agreed to let them hold the print at a lab in LA for the duration of the five-year license.  The five years is now up, the German company is out of business and, more importantly, they never paid the lab the storage fees and the lab sold the print.  Needless to say, I was furious at the lab for at least not contacting me (I'm on the lab agreement letter), but legally they contacted the German company numerous times to no response.
As for the Topic of the Day...
1) Barber - Knoxville: Summer of 1915 - Dawn Upshaw (I could do without the Harbison song cycle on this disc, but the rest of it is wonderfully accompanied and beautifully sung.)
2) Debussy  - Preludes, Complete (Books 1 and 2) - Walter Gieseking
3) Billy Joel - "An Innocent Man"
4) A Chorus Line OCR
5) Ella Fitzgerald - "...Sings The Harold Arlen Songbook"
6) Sunday in the Park with George OCR
7) Florence Foster Jenkins - "The Glory (???) of the Human Voice" - If I was stranded on a desert island, I think some laughter would be a good thing.
8) Beethoven - Piano Sonatas; Richard Goode, pianist.  I would like to take the complete boxed set with me, but if I had to restrict it to one disc, I would like the Op. 31 set.
9) Mussorgsky - "Pictures at an Exhibition" - Vladimir Horowitz, pianist.
10) Violet OCR
*Bonus CD:  A homemade recording of John Michael singing "mystery", with Alyssa "singing" back-up ("Stop that, John!") and Emily crying in the background.
This brings up an ethical discussion my DH and I had yesterday. He had a dream that a kid backed into his car where he was working and damaged the door. The kid came back into the studio to tell DH who had happened. Since the kid could have just taken off, like many would, but made the decision not to, DH felt like he should be rewarded for doing the right thing.
He said that he would let the kid's parent know what happened, but offer to split the cost of repair, since DH would have had to shoulder the whole cost if the kid had not been honest.
I thought that it would teach the kid more responsibility if he had to pay the whole amount, and I wouldn't tell the parents.
I think it would be wrong not to tell the parents.  But i also think who should pay would depend on a few things.  Like how much would the repairs cost. And do the kids or his parents have the money?  And do you?
Yes, I'll bet those outtakes of Elaine Stritch singing "The Internationale" would have brought a pretty penny!   ;)
I've always preferred side B with her doing Berlioz' arrangement of "La Marseillaise."
What was the myspace debacle and what was the cast recording thing about - which page of posts was this on yesterday?  I thought I'd read them all, but in my busy-ness yesterday I may have inadvertantly missed something.
You didn't miss it.  It was something I was informed of about 11:30 last night and it made me very angry at myself.  I cannot go into details but I made an ass of myself.  Again.  Hopefully, the fallout will be slight.
As for the Topic of the Day...
1) Barber - Knoxville: Summer of 1915 - Dawn Upshaw (I could do without the Harbison song cycle on this disc, but the rest of it is wonderfully accompanied and beautifully sung.)
I ended up with 11 on my list and this would be 12!  I agree about the Harbison, but "Steal Me, Sweet Thief" is so beautiful that you can see why Sir Andrew took her up on her offer; isn't there a bit of it in POTO?
I had two dreams last night: one was about crawdads.
The other one was I was walking down the street and saw a squirrel and paused to toss it a pistachio I happened to have in my pocket. In real life, my cell phone rang, and in my dream the squirrel did a double flip, which scared me. When I woke up, I had been lying on my hands, so my hands were numb and I couldn't get my hands to open my cell phone.
No, they have always done that. It's a big post house and it's cheaper and less complicated than ordering take out.
The original chef has been here a long time and we all love him, but his food is very heavy southern cooking...chicken pot pie, lots of comfort food, etc. And never anything new or experimental.
You can see that most of the people here, myself included, should NOT be eating heavy southern comfort food, especially with our sedentary jobs!
So I always feel a little guilty praising the new chef because I adore the original and don't want to make him feel bad. So I try to make sure he's not around when I do so.
And speaking of DR Jason...
I just spoke with him...
His flight pushed away from the gate right on time this morning from LGA.  And then it sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes.  Consequently, by the time he landed in O'Hare, his connecting flight to Louisville was already taking off.  Then when he went to rebook his connecting flight, he was told the next one would not be until 8:00pm.  Then after some creative "commenting", lo and behold, another flight popped up at 1:45pm... And, unfortunately, that one is due to leave 15-20 minutes late at this point.
So, he's been in O'Hare for the past three hours or so, wandering aimlessly, looking in vain for a stand that sells Garrett's Popcorn. ;)
Hopefully, he'll be in his Ol' Kentucky Home around 4:30 this afternoon.  And enjoying Chik-Fil-A by 4:31. ;D
Spanking cats doesn't work. It just makes them mad and they don't learn anything. If you feel you must discipline a cat, get a spray bottle, like you use for plants and spray water when they are doing the deed.  This makes an unpleasant association and they won't do it again. Apparently this is true, I've never had the heart to do it. I just yell "NO" and they stop.
Spraying water on my niece's cats does NOT work.  They just ignore it.  One of them actually loves to play in the water dish and my sister and niece HAVE to keep all the toilet lids down or this one will splash in the toilet water!
The kid in me agrees; however...
Our daily newsreports are replete with tragic stories that regualarly have "out-of-the-loop" parents as part of the problem.
I would have DH go with the younster to his parents, report the situation, commend his honesty (which should defuse the parents potential anger) and discuss restitution.
George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Joe Lieberman are all flying over New Orleans in a Blackhawk, surveying the progress that has been made in rebuilding the city and the levees. As they fly over the Ninth Ward, Cheney looks out the window, grins, and says, "You know, I could throw a thousand-dollar bill out the window right now and make one of those poor bastards very happy."
Bush says, "Well, I could throw ten hundred-dollar bills out the window right now and make TEN people very happy."
Not to be outdone, Lieberman chimes in, "Oh yeah? Well, I could throw a hundred $10 bills out the window and make a HUNDRED Americans very happy."
In order for The Monsoon to begin officially, we must have three consecutive days with an average dew point of 55 degrees or higher.
Quote for the Day: Elizabeth George (http://www.2blowhards.com/archives/2007/07/quote_for_the_d_2.html#004297)
Quote
Novels were designed to entertain, and those of us who wish to keep the art form alive need to keep this in mind. To aim for lofty literature instead of aiming for a good story with real characters who grow and develop and a setting that's brought to life is to go at the art form, like putting the varnish on the canvas first. I attempt to write a good novel. Whether it is literature or not is something that will be decided by the ages, not by me and not by a pack of critics around the globe.
In the strange dream department....I dreamed last night that all the people I used to work with were gathered around a table and had a birthday cake for me.   I started in saying it was a little late for that and they were just doing that because they felt guilty. Then I went into a big rant telling them all off for how they had treated me etc.
After that I was talking to someone who had been listening who said "Rot in Hell? are you sure they need to do that?"  I said "Yes, actually I do"  and we both started laughing about it.
I woke up feeling good, tired but really good, lol
The interview was after I was stuck in the elevator, not during.... although that would have been a better use of the time. Pushing the emergency bell and shouting "HELLO!  I'M STUCK IN THE ELEVATOR" over and over did get me out of there.
It was in the Orpheum building. No one actually fixed the elevator, but Joe, the maintenance guy was talking to me and was on his way to see if he could get me out. Just as he arrived it just decided to start working again.  Maybe they really do have a theater ghost there
PUNCH LINE CONTEST!
Q.  How many neocons does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A.  Neocons don't bother with light bulbs. They declare a War on Darkness and set the house on fire.
OR
A. None. God won't let their light bulbs go out. And it's an impertinent question.
OR
A. None. George Bush predicts the light bulb will be fully capable of changing itself within 3 months.
The real fun was when I came back in that door and someone was holding the elevator for me....I said "No thanks" and as the door closed I added "I was stuck in there today...they just got me out"   LOL they got off at the same floor I walked up the stairs to and the looks on their faces were priceless!
You could move the magazines   ;D
What a ridiculous idea. That would involve cleaning.  ;D
Actually, when there are no magazines there, she paces back and forth beside me on the bed, up and down, with her tail pointing to the left so it brushes over my face. Then when she turns to walk back down ti the foot of the bed, she does it so that she brushes my face with her furry hindquarters.
I prefer the ripping of the magazines.
Her first trick to get me up was to flip the metal catches on my dresser with her tail, which woke me up with a pinging noise. How do cats know these things?
The thing is, I can shut her out but then that deprives my love cat of sleeping with us. He can't stand sleeping with the door shut because he might be missing out on some cat activity.
Well, the storm passed over, and it wasn't too bad here.  However, I just saw some footage on the news, and parts of Richmond are without power, some parts got hail, and some parts have trees down.  Or all of the above.  Thankfully, my brother, Mike, missed all of the bad weather as he was driving back up to DC a few hours ago.
Speaking of comic relief...
I'm a history buff, and do some writing for a website called Ghostgunsvirginia.
Today I got the bright idea of filming a travelogue instead, to put up at Youtube, which would invariable drive thousands of people to look at the site.
So I went to Yorktown Battlefield, which I live near.
Haven't been there in a year. No script, no rehearsal. I just winged it.
First video is 29 seconds, second is 3 minutes.
And if anyone is impressed by my mellifluous tones, I'm available for voice over work.    ;D
Ginny - It should certainly be possible to see BK's Brain from Planet X, Noel's Such Good Friends, and Last Starfighter between Fri 9/28 and Sat. 9/29.
I know we have a performance of Last Starfighter on Sat. 9/29 at 1 p.m. at the Theater at St. Clements (46th not too far from 9th Ave.) and we do have a performnace on Fri 9/28, but I'm not sure exactly what time on the Friday.
Anyone see this madness in the NY Post today:
July 19, 2007 -- A WACKO group claiming to "cure" gays of their homosexuality is running secret meetings for closeted Broadway stars, according to a new documentary, "Gay No More?" Bill Hussung - who produced and directed the film with his wife, Mashara Canino-Hussung - says audiences will be "shocked" to see 20 popular Broadway dancers and actors who belong to the Life Ministry support group meeting twice weekly in underground locations. "It's an ex-gay movement with the core belief that you are gay because of a sexual trauma in your background. When you discover what that is, you can release it and be cured of gay desires," Hussung said. "People will be shocked to learn how widespread among the New York theater community this is." While he wouldn't name names, Hussung says all the performers "outed" in his movie signed releases saying it was OK. He hopes to have it ready for a September release.
Blame DR DtM -
Sung to the tune of The Yellow Rose of Texas
Will there really be a morning?
Is there such a thing as day?
Could I see it from the mountains
If I were as tall as they.
Has it feet like water lillies?
Has it feathers like a bird?
Does it come from famous places
Of which I've never heard?
Oh some scholar. Oh some sailor!
Oh some wise man from the skies
Please to tell this little pilgrim
Where the place called morning lies.
If you feel you must discipline a cat, get a spray bottle, like you use for plants and spray water when they are doing the deed.  This makes an unpleasant association and they won't do it again. Apparently this is true, I've never had the heart to do it. I just yell "NO" and they stop.
When our last round of cats, all 4 of them, were young I kept a spray bottle in the kitchen.  Many a time I also used the bottle on the boys.
During that time I volunteered at a school for special children.  One, exceptionally frustrating, day the teacher used the plant water sprayer one of the children.  The teacher looked up at me & said “don’t tell anyone, it isn’t permitted”.  I just started to laugh.  It was obvious the kid was as bothered by the spray bottle as my boys & cats were.
The cat that gives me the most trouble comes into the bedroom anywhere from 2-6AM and starts tearing up magazines until I get up and give her a treat. The rest of the cats never bother me until they sense that I'm awake but this one I have to shut out of the bedroom. Spraying water would only succeed in getting some antique furniture wet.
LOL Edi, your cat has obviously trained you well.  You give treats for tearing up magazines.
My jaw is agape (no mean feat) that you have had no Joao in your home environment.  You are talking about Amoroso/Brasil, obviously--and, yes, the Warner Archives 2-fer release is a U.S. release.  There was a previous Brasilian release, which is maybe what you have.  If you can get ahold of it (it's no longer in print), try to get the World Pacific CD The Legendary Joao Gilberto, with 37 incredible tracks from Joao's first legendary (obviously, LOL) LPs, which introduced the bossa nova.
I'm assuming you know that Joao is Bebel's father.   His second wife, Miucha, sang with Jobim and is Chico Buarque's sister.  Chico wrote the great song A Banda, which Herb Alpert covered fairly successfully in the U.S. after it was a huge smash for Quarteto em Cy in Brasil.
Is he Astrid's brother?  Uncle?
Astrud was his first wife.  It was only because Joao was playing the date with Getz that Astrud ended up singing Girl from Ipanema--it was originally going to be an instrumental, but when Getz heard her sing, he asked her to do a comp vocal, which turned out to be the final track.
Astrud and Joao later divorced, Joao married Miucha (who's a much better singer than Astrud, IMHO), and they had Bebel, who is the darling of the neo-Bossa-techno movement (I love her, I'm not being disparaging).
The "family trees" of the early Bossa pioneers are fascinating--it was a very incestuous group of people.  Aside from Joao and Astrud (later Joao and Miucha), you had Edu Lobo and his wife Wanda Sa (who sang with Brasil '65), all of the Castro-Neves family (Oscar the guitarist is most famous, but there's also Mario and Pedro Paulo), the Caymmi family (Papa Dorival was Carmen Miranda's music director, but son Dori is the writer of so much luscious music it can't be listed, though most people know him for "Like a Lover (O Cantador)"; daughter Nana is one of the most unique voices in early Bossa; and other brother Danilo played and recorded with Jobim during his last years); Flora Purim's first percussionist husband was Dom um Romao, who later played with Brasil '66 and then Weather Report; Flora went on to marry Airto, who played with Return to Forever and Miles; and they all have kids now making music!  There's Bebel Gilberto, Bena Lobo, Menescal (O Barquinho--My Little Boat) has a son who does trippy techno Bossa stuff with a group called Bossacucanova.  It just goes on and on and I LOVE IT ALL~~~ :)
For the most part I just have a little giggle, until something really strikes me funny, and then I laugh so hard I can’t breathe.  This is the moment my laugh becomes distinctive, it comes from the combination of gasping for air, laughing out loud, gasping for air, etc.  The longer this continues and the more I become at risk for dying from laughter, the louder I become & the worse I sound.
While we were still in high school Keith found a solution for this, only during movies & shows, he hit me on the arm. ;D
DR MATTH - I liked EASY TO WED more than you did.  I am in complete agreement that none of the cast is a patch on the original.  I thought Esther was a bit miscast - but Lucy, Van, and Keenan were so very much fun.
I was amused in EASY TO WED that they let Esther slip into a pool two times VERY briefly.
And that number that she and Van do in gaucho costumes? Why are they part of the floor show?
I was more disappointed with the transfer than the movie.
I did finish EASY TO WED when I went back down. Then, I put in NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTER again to see the Betty Garrett musical number outtake which I had never seen before. Nothing wrong with it, but it clearly wasn't needed in the picture, and didn't really show her off too well.
I completed my evening with the new AMC drama MAD MEN. It's set in a 1960 ad agency, and what sexist pigs these men were! And everybody's smoking like chimneys. Greetings from Kentucky...finally.
Basically, what Jose said. And then some. My flight out of O'Hare wasn't 20 minutes late, after all. It was nearly 2 hours late - most of which was spent sitting on the tarmac waiting for passengers, waiting for a mechanic (!) and then waiting to line up and wait to take off. We had been warned that the lavatory was not working on the plane, but none of us expected to be stuck on said plane for three hours. I think we finally rolled into Louisville - with bladders full and in the middle of a thunderstorm - at 6:00. We were supposed to arrive at 4:10. Then, to top it all off, because of the rain and lightning, the crew was unable to get our luggage off the plane. My parents and I waited until 7:30 to get my luggage before we decided to leave just so we could return later to pick up my bag. And when did airlines stop serving snacks? Sure, I could've bought a $3 candy bar from the very unfriendly flight attendant, but what happened to the free pretzels!?!?
This is the last time I will fly on American Airlines.
The stress has taken its toll on me today. I told myself I was going to vacation from Weight Watchers this week, but I went ahead and wrote in all the food I've eaten today just to find out what the points added up to. I get 31 points per day, and today alone I've eaten over 85 points!! That's how easily one can overeat. I will have to be far more responsible tomorrow, vacation or not. See, FJL...I don't always have self control! But those Krispy Kremes and the Red Robin Chili Chili Cheeseburger with Garlic Parmesean Steak Fries sho' were tasty!
Good Evening!
Back from dinner with Steve.  We ended up going for Chinese food at Peking, a small chain of restaurants that have been around for years in Richmond.  Steve was really in the mood for scallops, and the kitchen very happily accommodated our request to add scallops to the Hunan Shrimp.  Very good.
And although I had been thinking of heading back to Bev's Ice Cream tonight for dessert, once we passed a DQ, well... We both had medium Blizzards, and I have to say, I should have gotten a small.  I tried their new "French Silk" one - I really like the bits of pie crust.  It was very good, but it really was a lot, almost too much, frozen ice cream treat.
Then a second round of storms started up, so I camped out at Steve's place for a bit until it passed over.  We watched a video of the latest Richmond Men's Chorus concert.  It was the first time they had had one of their concerts recorded.  And it was the first time they used this particular audio/video company.  Alas, it looks like it will be the last time.  We both got dizzy watching the video - we hadn't seen so much panning since Lestat opened last season.  ;D
I rewatched it yesterday (forgot to mention it in one of my posts), and I finally recognized Nina Foch as the lady selling the house! I didn't notice her screen credit when I watched Monday night, and I puzzled and puzzled over that familiar face.
His role certainly seemed important enough to be a regular, but he was listed in the closing credits as a guest star (I think; it's late!). But that's just billing stuff. Rob Lowe was listed as a guest star for the entire second half of BROTHERS & SISTERS, but he was on every week and was insturmental in the show. He'll be listed as a regular in the upcoming season.
Do you know that the pilot and flight attendant only spoke to us twice during the hour and a half that we were stranded on the tarmac to explain to us what was going on...? And they couldn't give us a free cookie...?!?!
The problem with my situation is that I was flying using my dad's AAdvantage Miles - their version of frequent flier miles - so technically, I was already flying for free. But the poor people around me who paid $100+ for their tickets should have been really pissed.
Now you can see
He wants to be
And when did airlines stop serving snacks?
This is the last time I will fly on American Airlines.
I take it you haven't done air travel for a while!
You and your luggage both arrived in the same destination city on the same day you departed - you should write a thank-you letter 8)
Do you really wish AA was serving free creme puffs?
I'm not one for frivolous law suits, but seems to me every passenger on that plane with a non-functioning toilet deserved to get free snacks at the very least, and a free ticket at the very most.
Why not try writing to them and complaining? You might get a free ticket out of it.
Do you think the passengers would have been happier if as, as Jose suggested, the airline had invited them all to de-plane, cancelled the flight for mechanical reasons, and invited the passangers to return the next day and hope for another flight?
Also, remember, all "free" tickets will raise your airfares next year.
DS Betsy is thanking heaven that maybe with free DVDs coming my way we'll be able to save for retirement!  ;)
Sounds like a bigger budget for BossaNova to me :D
Rain! And this time, enough to more than just dampen the sidewalk.
Thanks, Tomovoz. It is a fast-moving storm, so it probably won't last long.
