an endless propositionPaging DR JoseSPiano! ;)
DR JENNIFER....all I know is he brought me the phone results on Thursday morning and they did not tally with the results we saw on air.
I think there is a"go to hell" disclaimer in the credits that says the votes can be manipulated or skewed in various ways.
For those who watch CRIMINAL MINDS, i just read in my local paper today that it looks like Mandy Patinkin won't be returning to the show in the Fall.
I'm not sure if this is 100% confirmed (although it sounded pretty firm).
They wouldn't say exactly what the deal was. At first they tried to imply it might have been he was holding out for more money. But then it made it seem like there was some type of creative difference.
Further vibes to JRand.
I might watch the show if Geena Davis is in it rather than that man.
DRJOSE what do you mean by the "final" show today.
I must confess that despite the best of intentions, I never got further yesterday than THINKING about de-cluttering. Maybe today's activities should include writing 100 times, I must turn thoughts to actions. I must turn thoughts to actions. (Two down, 98 more to go,)
DR Cillaliz - No, I just started in at about 6:30 AM and just read straight through! Not my preferred way to read, but with today's media, what can you do? :)
Cheerios I keep by my puter as a snack food
My mom puts a little butter on Cheerios and microwaves them as a snack.
Without giving away any spoilers, now that you have finished the final installment of the whole thing, do you feel satisfied with the way the whole saga was wrapped up?
OH!
In the current issue of New York Magazine, there's an article about seven "hotel rooms under $200", and they are:
Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson - 2 Exchange Pl.., Jersey City - 201-469-1234 - Yes, it's in Jersey, but it's just "a one-stop, four-minute PATH ride or short Water Taxi from Lower Manhattan".
Best Western Seaport Inn - 33 Peck Slip, nr. Front Street - 212-766-6600
Courtyard by Marriott Times Square South - 114 W. 40th St., nr. Sixth Ave. - 212-391-0088
On the Ave - 2178 Broadway, at 77th St. - 212-362-1100
Hampton Inn Time Square North - 851 Eighth Ave., at 51st St. - 212-581-4100
Hotel 17 - 225 E. 17th St., nr. Third Ave. - 212-475-2845
The Pod Hotel - E. 51st St., nr. Second Ave. - 212-355-0300
Of course, the rooms at these places are under $200 now, and they do mention that the rates are most likely higher during the fall and spring high seasons. And although the direct numbers are listed, booking through the internet may result in a better rate. -However, from my personal experience, I've found booking directly with the hotel can result in a lower rate, especially when it comes to their discounted rates for business travelers, union members, AARP members, etc. A lot of those discount codes just don't come up automatically on the online reservation systems. *And I know when I've stayed at the Edison, the reservation clerk would always ask me, "So, what business are you with?" so that I would get the lower business rate.
OH! And here's a link to the article - with commentary and pictures - on the magazine's website.
A Ranking of Seven Hotels for Under $200 a Night. In New York.
Or so nearby it doesn’t matter. (http://nymag.com/travel/features/34731/)
Hi dear Laura....... Let me know if you want to see my "before" place.....maybe tomorrow??
Good morning dear DR Fred....... do you have an antidopte or serum that can cure the uncontrollable urge to speak in Fudd-ese at unexpected times??
I'm sure that poor Cilla is going to hate me soon..... but I can't help myself.
MusicGuy, did it close?
Hmm... It's a gorgeous day here today in NYC... And even though tomorrow is supposed to be a little rainy, it's only supposed to be in the upper 60's. And even the rest of the week is forecasted for the lower 80s. My kind of summer! :)
In any case... I may just head out in a bit and look at all the people in Central Park reading the latest Harry Potter book.
Give me a call this afternoon.
Sounds like a really nice weather week for Manhattan. By the way, isn't it a law that to read Harry potter in the park, you are required to take off your T-shirt and only wear cutoff Levi jeans? At least for the guys?.....
I'm also going to see how much a new little deep freeze would cost me. The one I have is probably 20 years old, at least. It's sounding terrible like it's gonna blow up or something. That's why I unplugged, threw out the stuff that had been in there forever and am roasting the turkey today. Yikes, so much to do...why am I still typing?
"A" for apple;
"J" for jacks;
Cinnamon Toasty
Apple Jacks!
:)
Ooops. It's now after noon on the East Coast. How did that happen???
I must confess that despite the best of intentions, I never got further yesterday than THINKING about de-cluttering. Maybe today's activities should include writing 100 times, I must turn thoughts to actions. I must turn thoughts to actions. (Two down, 98 more to go,)
In a word: Yes. It had me laughing and crying and was at least as effective as the other entries in the series.
"A" for apple;
"J" for jacks;
Cinnamon Toasty
Apple Jacks!

Yep.... signed, sealed, delivered, closed, and recorded. So it's a done deal and it's mine......and it's kind of an odd unsettled feeling that I have right now. :-\

Julie, do you know Lennie Watts? My partner, Anthony, worked with him in 1999 at Theatre by the Sea in Matunick, RI. Lennie was Pseudelous and Anthony was Hysterium. It was a great show. You're right, Lennie is a wonderful singer and has a load of talent! He hosted the cabaret nights at TBTS and was a hoot.
Julie, I envy you being able to go to so many great shows.
And this just made me smile:
Playgoers, Beware the ‘Ishtar’ Invasion (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/22/arts/22ishe.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&ref=theater&adxnnlx=1185116807-d9Pa1hA/jPX38uF8qwy9hg)
Re: thinking.
Thanks to everyone who visited my first review on DVDTalk. I was number 2 with a bullet (admittedly a Nerf bullet, but that's another story) for the past 2 days (they let the reviewers see their "stats" as to how many people are reading their reviews). I should get my first official screeners next week and then will have my work cut out for me.
A burglar broke into my friends house a few years ago while she slept. The only thing he took was a baseball cap and some bananas.
The same night he broke into her neighbor's house---didn't take anything but poured her daughter's cheerios onto the kitchen table and made a smiley face.
I made a joke about how it was good he wasn't a "cereal killer" but the whole thing was pretty creepy.
How do they work assignments at DVDTalk, DR JMK? Do you bid for certain movies? Do you get assigned certain studio product? Is it first come, first serve? Are you in a rotation and get assigned whatever comes next?

And BTW, though it's not his official birthday (that's next week on July 27, appropriately celebrated nationally by the release of The Simpsons Movie), today is Gabe's 11th birthday party!!
The 7-11 in Times Square has been transformed into a Kwik E Mart! The outside signage has changed, and even a bunch of the display stuff inside. There are even larger-than-life figures in the freezer case! And, of course, they are featuring those giant pink-frosted donuts. And I even like some of the "sale" signs: Buy 3 for the Price of 3! ;) The place has become a tourist destination - lots of camera snapping going on.
Is the Sheep Meadow an area in Central Park?
No, we're watching, too!
(Skip actually voted.)
FOOD NETWORK SPOILER ALERT
Skip voted for Amy, because he'd love to see Amy's potential show about accessible gourmet food. And besides, we can't do much of Rory's grilling here in this apartment. :)
Susan Fogelson (sp?) always looks like she's in pain.
FOOD NETWORK SPOILER ALERT!!!!
I have no idea what this is all about.
FOOD NETWORK SPOILER
America always loves an underdog, and she did come from behind.
Only 65 more posts until I am at 1/200th of the level of most of you. :)

Good Evening!
I took the subway there: The West Village. The D Train down to West 4th Street to be exact. Love that express train.
The West Village was my family's little "hideaway", Jose. In fact the whole block of W. 11th between 5th and 6th was owned by my Uncles for decades. They're renovating one of the last buildings he owned right now if you walk down the street (my sis was just there and sent me pictures--I'm not psychic). If you ever listen to the commentary on The Producers (the original one), you'll hear Mel Brooks talk about Dustin Hoffman throwing pebbles at the window of Mel's flat on W. 11th when Dustin got cast for The Graduate (he was originally cast in The Producers, believe it or don't). It's that building he's talking about.
It's an astoundingly complete database of film, videogame, etc.
Hmmm...there's a DVD coming out on August 21st (80th anniversary of the execution) that you might be interested in reviewing?

;D
How's that for a throwdown! -Or was it a smackdown?
In any case, I don't think Liza Minelli could really generate enough posts for a proper throwdown/smackdown. Now, maybe if the subject was her mother, Judy Garland, well, that's someone who's a bit more post-worthy, imho. ;)
*Of course, if you really want to generate some posts, there's always "food" to get things going. Or "The Music Man". :)
Then I watched the second chapter of the SUPERMAN serial. Lois fell out of an office building window for the cliffhanger.
Then I walked back around to 6th Avenue and Bleecker. I happened to pass the IFC, and noticed that they are showing the new Patrice LeConte film, "Le Meilleur Ami" ("My Best Friend"). The always wonderful Daniel Auteuil is the star. I made note of the show times, and I think I'm going to try to catch it sometime this week. -They're also showing the new documentary, "Summer Camp". That looks good too.
Is that Daniel Auteuil of "Amelie?" He's so adorable! If you'd like a movie partner, let me know...
Jose and Jason - So when are you guys seeing GYPSY on Wednesday - matinee or evening?
I dread the day I have to move to Vista.....
A belated congrats to CILLALIZ on 10,000.
A more timely congrats to FJL on 8,000.
Of course I can't talk about it with anyone..... except Singdaw
I only got it because (as some HHW-ers will remember) our last computer died the week before Vista was released and it was literally impossible to buy a new computer with XP (Microsoft had some sort of deal with all retailers, and I mean all retailers, to pull all XP machines off the shelves). It was a nightmare. And it still is, kind of, though I'm getting used to it. Kind of like the Bush years. :o :-X
And DR Sandra.
Kind of like the Bush years. :o :-X
Tomorrow I get to see DR MusicGuy's new house.
You know... If you buy a Mac, you don't have to deal with Vista. ;)Vixdad doesn't like Macs either....
Jose - Patrice Leconte, as you may remember, is my favorite director these days, so let me know how the film. And speaking of Frenchies, where in tarnation has Francois been?

If you can get me an advance copy, I'm sure I can review it--or if it's on Amazon, I can link it to my "wish list," though I can't guarantee I'll be the one who ends up with it.

Is this song about a companion restaurant to the one the DR MBARNUM discovered in the Big Apple?
