Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sky high, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're reading Tails Of The Cow Pasture right now.
-
And the word of the day is: PHILOMATH!
-
Oh man! I just wrote a really long post about my days events and when I posted it was locked....maybe I'll do a revised edition
-
Do a revised edition - sorry about that.
-
I Like the word of the day.... I now know that I am a philomath..if I tell my mother that she'd probably ask if I needed treatment for it
-
Oops,. forgot to read the new notes.
-
It's ok. I started the day at a scrumptious brunch, both meat and vegetarian dishes, mimosas, coffee and great company. After the planned parenthood pitch, I headed out the door and went to meet Bill Richardson. There were about 20 of us there at the invitation only event. He talked to us for about 1 1/4 hours. He is intelligent, funny and delightful. He's more than qualified for the job. He was great at the big event too. I think he's my candidate for the caucuses. Tomorrow I meet Obama, so we'll see. Not trying to get political here, it's just what I did today
-
Then I stopped by the birthday party for Nadia's father. It was at a really nice park that I had never been to before. Not sure why, great trails, a huge pond, shelters etc. So, many members of her family were there. They were mostly introduced as her cousin, uncle, aunt's sister etc...so I know very few names. I did meet her father and brothers. She made great food. A spiced beef - not machaca, I can't remember what she called it. Great beans and rice and of course tortillas. The drinks were either beer or shots of tequilla. I opted for beer.
The music was great salsa music. It was fun. I didn't stay long, but I'm really glad I made an appearance and met her family. They all seem like really good people
-
Those were long notes.
Perhaps a long note rag in honor of the long notes.
-
I should add that being in Iowa from now until the caucuses, you can't really help being political. I love to get involved in a campaign every cycle. It's great fun to do it. The candidates come here every month or two and sometimes you really get to know them. So, if I talk about it, I'm really not trying to start a political discussion. I do know there are others here who don't share my political slant....but it's what there is to do in Iowa for the next 5 1/2 months with a caucus night climax. So, I may be telling you from time to time about what I'm doing....just so you know

FJL, how was Skip's play tonight? Good house again?
-
BK - Glad to hear your room is cooling off.
-
Better get some sleep. Back to work tomorrow...night
-
Cilla - I didn't go to see Skip's show at 59E59 today, but our friends Mary Jay and Michelle were there. Mary Jay reported back that It was a full house, no available seats, but unlike Sat. night, no extra chairs.
-
It's time for this weary traveler to hit the road to dreamland - I've left the windows open a little bit to keep the flow of air.
-
P.S. Thanks for asking, Cilla.
-
Due to the repertory between Series A and Series B (Skip's one-act musical is on Series A), Skip doesn't play the show again until the weekend.
-
Hi dear Fred..... I'm glad things are going well with Skip's play. And I'll be thinking of all of you tomorrow evening, as you sup and laugh and drink and dish!
-
Hi dear DR Jason..... I hope you have a great week coming up.... I'll be thinking of you, and I send you a big hug!

And now, it is "pillow time" and it will feel very good!
Night night lovelies.

I should be in bed since I have to be at work in a few hours but my mind is saying it is not bed time yet. I really hate it when my body has to adhere to many different schedules.
Bit of a rough weekend up at my parents. My dad is starting to bloat and get more yellow. He is starting to deny he is dying and is claiming he is suffering from a summer cold. He is coughing from fluid in his lungs. It is really getting hard to watch him deteriorate. It saddens me but I know I need to pull myself together to go to the dragons cave at work and put on the "happy dappy at owrk act".
I am not sure if it the stress of watching my father struggle this past weekend or the fact I have to face work tomorrow but I feel very stressed out. Maybe it is harvest and this is my dad's favorite time of year and it is causing memories of things he loved to do during harvest and is unable to do it. Right now I cannot even watch combining and normally I love to watch it, especially at sunset when the dust would give teh low horizon a reddish glow. A rather amazing sight to say the least.
-
He is horrendously bloated. I am trying to keep the images of him healthy in my mind. I know he is dying but I also do not want to have the memories of him horribly bloated to taint the good memories. Am I being selfish?
-
Mbarnum, I have noted you have a sizeable card collection. Do you collect just birthday cards or do you have other cards also?

~~~Super Vibes of Comfort for Dakota!!~~~
Well, I went to my friend Margo's house last night and we just sat under the trees in her front yard and chatted for a couple of hours. The weather and conversation were quite nice. She gave me a bouquet of flowers to take to work as a thank you to people who've shown her support. :)
Before I got to her house though, I stopped at a gas station a couple of blocks away and got us some diet Pepsi and I spilled one of the two 32-ounce cups of diet Pepsi in my car! :o Some spilled on the passenger seat and a little more spilled on the driver's seat but most of it spilled onto the back passenger floor. AARRGGHH!!!! At least it was diet Pepsi and not regular with high fructose corn syrup (or sugar...if they even use that any more). I had a bunch of napkins in my glove compartment, so that helped to soak up some of the spilled liquid. And I had an old jacket in my trunk that I was able to put on my seat so that my butt wouldn't get wet. ::) I'll have to drive with my heaters on for awhile while it all dries up. Or I could just keep my windows open during the day...that should do it.
-
George, I hate when that happens...
Ironically, I can't drink diet pepsi -- allergic to nutrasweet.
I send vibes to Margo!
-
It is sad what happened to Margo, I hope something good comes of this.
This is probably only the third time that's it's ever happened to me, but fortunately, only the second time in this car. The first time was only a few months after I bought it. ::)
I have a friend who also is allergic to nutrasweet. I don't like the taste of regular cola at all anymore. If I were allergic, I'd very easily be able to give it all up instead of trying to adjust to the "real" stuff. :P
And thanks for the vibes for Margo!
It is sad what happened to Margo, I hope something good comes of this.
I do too! She has a great emotional support system and some friends who are giving her great advice...and her lawyer seems to have a lot of experience in these kinds of cases. The two of them are going to get together to decide if it's really worth pursuing.
My reactions to nutrasweet include blackouts and thunderclap headaches.
I have also had similar reactions plus dizziness to the chemicals they have used to clean the carpets at work this summer.
The photograph was taken this afternoon. The Rainbow lorikeets are visitors to the garden a few times a year.
It is now 5am in NY. I awoke unplanned at 3:20, and have been unable to fall back asleep. I watched a few minutes of a random movie, an infomercial for a clothes steamer, and a report about our crumbling infrastructure. And still couldn't get back to sleep - imagine that!
-
So I figured I'd get out of bed and check email. Then figured I'd check in here and see what everyone's been up to.
It's always fascinating to me how that works. Being from NYC, you pretty much never get to meet a single candidate. Well, unless you pay $1000+ to attend a gala fundraising dinner with 500 other people, at which time the candidate will rush in, talk for 15 minutes, and if you're lucky, you get to quickly shake hands.
Please do continue to share your experiences, Cilla. I love hearing about it. And it does amaze me how in other parts of the country, people actually do get to gather for lengthy periods of time in very small groups with each of the candidates.
-
MusicGuy - I remember seeing A NEW LEAF at Radio City too.
I did, too. Hmmmm.
I remember my parents taking me to Radio City for a movie several times. And the big attraction, of course, aside from being in the huge stunning theater, was the live floor show. I loved seeing the rockettes. So we would always see them twice. Once before the movie from up front in the orchestra. Then again after the movie, from upstairs in the first mezzanine. And there was never any problem sitting wherever you wanted to sit. No different price to sit in one section over the other. You could sit as close-up to the rocketts as you wanted. Those seats now sell for over $200. More for some shows. And you don't even get a movie. Imagine that.
Happy Birthday to TD!!
God morning, all! Last night's nightmares included a sequence with me either back at the Drama Book Shop or Barnes & Noble while I juggled several problems, one of them being an order for 300 dialect tapes! I also dreamed that I was back at my grandmother's house, 711 Tenth Avenue, as it was when I was around 3 or 4. The house was quite haunted so my dreams about the house are usually terrifying. The dream was peculiar: the house was all locked up and dark, but when I went to the back door and opened it, my mother's entire family, many long dead, was sitting in the kitchen.
So, I'm up and I have a trek to Toyland Two, then auditions, followed by a visit with DR FJL, DR Julie, and Skip.
A Happy Birthday To DR TD!
-
Good morning, Ben!
-
Good morning, Tomovoz!
-
The phone rang at eight. I picked up the one in the bedroom - nada. I picked up two others - nada. Then I realized it was the "house" phone, the one that lets people in the front door, but by the time I got to it it had stopped. I went back to bed, but then the doorbell rang and it was some guy asking if I wanted an exterminator this morning. I bit my tongue and merely said no.
Even with the windows open it was pretty hot all night, but I managed to get an okay night's sleep, but certainly not UNDER the covers.
Good Morning!
As for the Topic of the Day...
Well, I've basically never met a potato I didn't like... ;) However, to be specific...
The Potato Gratin in Garlic Cream at the Carlyle (in Arlington, VA).
Creamed Spinach at Smith & Wollensky's
Arroz Gandules at most any Mexican/Puerto Rican/South American restaurant
Tostones - Love those fried green plantains
Mashed Cauliflower-Carrot (Puree)
And that's the list for now
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR TD!!!!!
And now I must get ready to head in for my auditions today. I have a short session for a A Little Night Music for South Coast Repertory at 10:00, and then The Brain at Noon.
*BK - I don't think we're finishing until around 5:15-5:30 today - if you're trying to set up a meeting with your choreographer. At least that's what I was told.
Oh...
He'll be at the auditions, so whatever time we finish we'll just toddle off for a little meeting pre FJL's. Speaking of FJL, I "think" I remember where he lives but perhaps he could leave a leetle message on my leetle cell phone.
We found two interesting-sounding sublet possibilities - we've written both people. We shall see.
Hmmm. Of course, I was talking about the lorikeet, and not Mr. Dale, although I'm sure Mr. Dale would look great in any garden, as well. Happy Birthday, Mr. Dale.
STRESSLESS VIBES TO DR DAKOTA CELT!
My plans for the day include picking up a sumptuous, decadent cake from the best bakery in town, picking up my Elvis boxed set (plus the individual releases of THIS IS ELVIS, VIVA LAS VEGAS, JAILHOUSE ROCK etc); Dixie Bell and I have already had a wet morning walk. Later in the week I shall dine at a fine Indian restaurant - Jane, if you're listening, it's close to the campuses.
It's always fascinating to me how that works. Being from NYC, you pretty much never get to meet a single candidate. Well, unless you pay $1000+ to attend a gala fundraising dinner with 500 other people, at which time the candidate will rush in, talk for 15 minutes, and if you're lucky, you get to quickly shake hands.
Please do continue to share your experiences, Cilla. I love hearing about it. And it does amaze me how in other parts of the country, people actually do get to gather for lengthy periods of time in very small groups with each of the candidates.
I know some people think that places like Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn't have so much influence, but I have to tell you, we take our role very seriously. We don't pay to meet candidates, they spend the money here to get us to go to their events. The Truman Club dues don't even go to candidates, they support the local party headquarters.
No candidate is immune from tough questions asked face to face with everyone patiently staring at them waiting for an answer and people will remember what they said, how well they handle situations where they really don't know the answer, etc. I like this time best because very few people have actually committed to candidates and the national polls mean nothing. We go see all of them and then we seriously discuss the differences.
Richardson calls it a job interview and that's really what it is. He said yesterday that he used to think that Iowa shouldn't have this much influence, but that here people don't want to shake hands they want answers and that's really a good thing. He tried to end his larger event with a softball question from a young girl, I think she was 14. She asked "When you pull all the troops out of Iraq, what will you do to stabalize the Middle East?" There was a long pause and he said "How old are you?" That's Iowa.
The caucuses in January are really quite fascinating. The room is divided up by candidate and you count heads, literally. It's no secret ballot. Everyone knows who you support. There is a percentage cut-off that you need for a candidate to get a delegate. If you don't have enough for a delegate for a candidate then you can try to talk people into coming over to your candidate or the others can speak to encourage you to join them. It's also a time where anyone can submit issues for the platform. They are voted on and go through to the county wide convention where they will be voted on and go to district etc. They could eventually become planks in the national platform.
If you become one of the delegates, you are not bound to your candidate. You can change at a later meeting even at the national convention. But it's the precinct caucuses that start the whole ball rolling and get all the attention.
I've caucused as a Republican, they do vote on paper and you don't have to tell who you voted for. I like the Democrat's way better.
If anyone wants to brave the Iowa winter (it's usually way below zero that week) to observe the caucus or has a candidate they want to meet face to face....you're welcome to come out and visit. (You can have the fill of all the food you bring yourself)
-
I'm running late, but side dishes. KFC's cole slaw. LOVE it. My mother's potatoes. Not exactly twice baked, but sort of. Wilbur beans and Drunken Apples at Dave's BBQ. Waldorf salad. and many many more
I better get going. It's going to be in the 90s all week and although it's probably not as hot as BKs room, my bedroom is warm, which means I'm not sleeping well at all.
Horn & Hardart Baked Beans
I have dined at several automats.
Your post reminded me of one of my favorite P.D.Q. Bach numbers:
"Concerto for Horn and Hardart".
It was a typical double concerto form, and the "hardart" instrument was like a mini-automat: there were little implements or instruments (like a kazoo, triangle, etc.) in little windowed compartments. The player had to insert coins to get the "instruments" to continue playing the piece. It was very involved and I only saw him perform this once, but it was very fun!
There is an all-night restaurant here in Charloote called The Landmark, and they have the best fried onion rings I've ever had anywhere. That's my favorite side.
At the old Western Sizzlin' steakhouses, they had the best french fries I've ever had. Alas, those steakhouses are long gone from here.
I also love cold slaw, mac and cheese, corn on the cob (with real butter).
Depending on what today's mail brings (I think I'm to get another box set (THE TICK VS. Season 2), and there are three Criterions on their way to me. Other than that, I may watch BERSERK! which is on the DVR. THE SLENDER THREAD is on there, too, but I may not get to it for awhile.
-
I know some people think that places like Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn't have so much influence...
How much influence they will now have remains to be seen (the pol-pros are watching carefully).
In the past Iowa and NH set the stage for condidates to do well and use that result in fund-raising activites to support their efforts in the later primaries. Next year we will be having the first go at the early Jan - Feb primaries. The smart money expects the races to be settled by early Feb; candidates need to have their full Primary war chest filled before the Iowa/NH process begins, so the results of these early races will have little import. (Notice that some candidates game plans call for skipping Iowa/NH altogether.)
The nice one-on-one personal touch that is possible in a low-density area like Iowa. In California, LA County alone has over three times the population of the entire state of Iowa.
I fear that when both major parties caved and let the bigger states move their primaries up to Feb it has spelled the end of the Iowa/NH influence in national politics.
When I was conculting in CA, races at the local town level could be won or lost by feet-on-the-ground meet-and-greet campaigning. Congressional races had to have the added component of expensive direct mail and telephone elements. By the time you reached the county level, multimillion dollar mass media buys were essential to winning.
Candidates running for City council spent most of their time meeting with voters; Congressional candidates spent their time in organized public fund-raising appearances; state level candidates spent 90% of their time on the phone dialing for dollars or in attending special interest group funtions seeking endorsements and major contributions.
Not at all what the founders envisioned!
Did anybody watch THE COMPANY on TNT last night?
Yes!
I enjoyed it quite a bit - it's living up to it's promos.
However, in the scence where one of the agents gets married, we have a close-up of the paraphenial (cans, etc) tied to the Honeymoon car; the tin cans used have smooth molded bottoms which were not used in the 1950's.
I remembered how annoyed I was when maufacturers went away from the rimmed-edged bottoms to the smooth - no longer could I easily remove my cranberry jelly by opening both ends of the can and pushing a nicely formed cylinder onto a plate (the smooth bottoms have no ridge to engage a can opener!).
Those of us who were up and about during the times depicted are probably enjoying the sets and costumes - and the great automobiles!
And it is devoid of Saving Grace-like gratuitous trash.
PS Thanks to Concast on-Demand, I can still watch Heartland, which I still enjoy (but KyleXY takes precedence)'
I have dined at several automats.
Your post reminded me of one of my favorite P.D.Q. Bach numbers:
"Concerto for Horn and Hardart".
It was a typical double concerto form, and the "hardart" instrument was like a mini-automat: there were little implements or instruments (like a kazoo, triangle, etc.) in little windowed compartments. The player had to insert coins to get the "instruments" to continue playing the piece. It was very involved and I only saw him perform this once, but it was very fun!
I love PDQ Bach. I was a stagehand in college when they came to town and almost lost my job because I gave Peter Schickele's stage manager a ride to the grocery store. They felt so bad about it that they invited me out for dinner and drinks with them after the show. It was a blast...and I didn't lose my job
How much influence they will now have remains to be seen (the pol-pros are watching carefully).
In the past Iowa and NH set the stage for condidates to do well and use that result in fund-raising activites to support their efforts in the later primaries. Next year we will be having the first go at the early Jan - Feb primaries. The smart money expects the races to be settled by early Feb; candidates need to have their full Primary war chest filled before the Iowa/NH process begins, so the results of these early races will have little import. (Notice that some candidates game plans call for skipping Iowa/NH altogether.)
The nice one-on-one personal touch that is possible in a low-density area like Iowa. In California, LA County alone has over three times the population of the entire state of Iowa.
I fear that when both major parties caved and let the bigger states move their primaries up to Feb it has spelled the end of the Iowa/NH influence in national politics.
When I was conculting in CA, races at the local town level could be won or lost by feet-on-the-ground meet-and-greet campaigning. Congressional races had to have the added component of expensive direct mail and telephone elements. By the time you reached the county level, multimillion dollar mass media buys were essential to winning.
Candidates running for City council spent most of their time meeting with voters; Congressional candidates spent their time in organized public fund-raising appearances; state level candidates spent 90% of their time on the phone dialing for dollars or in attending special interest group funtions seeking endorsements and major contributions.
Not at all what the founders envisioned!
der Brucer
Der Brucer, that's what many of us have believed, but some of the candidates now say they think it's actually making Iowa and New Hampshire more important than they were because you need to have momentum going into the bigger races the beginning of February. With less time between the primaries there is a school of thought that the early voters will be looking to see what happened here more than they used to. I think it will be very interesting to see how it plays out.
I can tell you that the candidates have been here earlier and more often this time - and that's from both parties. I'm hearing more of them say they have a 99 county strategy in Iowa and plan to visit every county before the caucuses. We didn't get that much attention from them before.
Cilla,
How does support for "comprehensive" immigration reform (a la McCain/Kenndy) play in Iowa?
der Brucer
I think it depends on who you talk to. Immigration is a huge topic here. We have our representative and his stupid idea for a 10 foot wall, which is only partially funded....which means, of course, you either walk around the wall or get an 11 foot fence...and there is a lot of fear and hate mongering on the talk radio etc...but once people hear about the details and that the proposals really aren't amnesty, they are generally supportive of CIR. I think in general people believe something needs to done, it's the what that is a bit difficult.
Boy that was a lot of generalizing, huh
Well, I am back from my morning travels with a delicious Peach Melba Cake in one hand and TEN-count 'em-TEN Elvis Presley movies on dvd! Sneer if you want to, but, I love me some frothy Elvis musicals. Say what you will, I think TICKLE ME is a fun, fun flick. And then there's STAY AWAY, JOE, which all of us at HHW know that a certain colorful Broadway musical was based on the same source.
A wall won't solve the problem .. what the average American doesn't get (since so many of us have no idea what it is like to live with nothing) is that these folks are desperate to put food on the table -- desperate people will find a way -- and will attempt anything to get here to make a dog's wages, so a wall? There are plenty of ways to get over, under and around a wall....I'd rather we spend that wall time and money on finding a way to really help these folks -- we should be working with, putting pressure on, whatever, the Mexican government to help its people -- talk about a polarized country between the haves and have nots ... you're either super rich, or dirt poor. Instead of shutting the door on these folks, we should remember they are our neighbors and whatever issues they are dealing with will always impact our country whether we help them or look the other way ... my 2 cents' worth...
Instead of shutting the door on these folks, we should remember they are our neighbors and whatever issues they are dealing with will always impact our country whether we help them or look the other way ... my 2 cents' worth...
well, here's a thought:
The US government on Monday announced a new package of military aid for Israel, Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries to counter the influence of Iran and Syria in the region. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the United States was launching a 10-year, 30-billion-dollar programme in military assistance for Israel, and a 10-year, 13-billion-dollar plan for Egypt.
If we cut that in half (both sides still retain parity), we could have a 10 year 21.5 billion dollar ecconomic improvement program for Mexico!
As an aside, I've spent years living in SoCal where they have the largest density of "illegal" immigrants - funny thing tho, I was never approached by an hispanic pan-handler, and the homeless incampments are mainly black and white. White men pan-handle at freeway ramps, Mexicans sell oranges or flowers.
Like you, MISS KAREN, I'm in the a-wall-won't-help camp. I like to see win-win solutions. Low-wage labor, which Mexico has aplenty, is beneficial to many industries. Many of the illegals would like to stay near their families--they're just trying to earn a living.
I can't figure out how to post words that are hyperlinks -- like derbrucer did with size does matter. ::) ::)
The phone rang at eight. I picked up the one in the bedroom - nada. I picked up two others - nada. Then I realized it was the "house" phone, the one that lets people in the front door, but by the time I got to it it had stopped. I went back to bed, but then the doorbell rang and it was some guy asking if I wanted an exterminator this morning. I bit my tongue and merely said no.
At least it wasn't some guy saying he was delivering a candygram.
I was trying to hyperlink to the Godiva store near FJL so that he could replenish tonight's supply.
Julie, here are George's instructions from August of 2004 (what a coincidence, it's almost 3 years to the date that he posted them originally)
Just so that it's here on the Technical Board:
Quote from: Jane on August 05, 2004, 09:02:13 PM
How do you do that?
Type WITH NO SPACES WHATSOEVER:
* an open bracket
* then "url=" (without the quotes)
* then the actual URL
* then close bracket
* then type what you want to show, in this case "CLICK HERE" and you can have all the spaces you want at this point
* then another open bracket
* then "/url"
* then a close bracket
I added spaces here so that it won't work and you can see the construction:
[url = http : // www .the_url_goes_here. com]Type what you want to show[ / url]
So, when it all works, you get this: CLICK HERE.
And what I usually like to do is make it BOLD so that it stands out!
Or you can make bold and CHANGE THE COLOR!
-
P.S., you can only do this in the Reply mode. You don't have those options in Quick-Reply, the box at the bottom of the screen.
-
By the way, where is DR HashSlinger today? He's usually in here posting with the best of them ...
Nyah, nyah. . .I'll never tell. . . ::)
-
If you don't want to do all that typing you can also copy the Web address you want to link to, go to the Reply box, paste in the link, highlight it and then press the Globe up on the Function Bar. This will do most of the work for you, you then only have to change/add a few things to make it appear the way you want to look.
I have trouble doing this in Firefox. It doesn't seem to work so I only do it in IE.
If you use the Globe then all you have to do is change the second bracket to an equal sign and and one bracket to the end of the Web address. If you then want to heighten the text (adding bold or changing colors) you can highlight JUST the part you want to heighten (like DerBrucer's Size Matters) and then press B for Bold or go up to the color box and choose your color. You can use all the different effects you want, for example you can make something bold and a different color and italics. You just have to highlight and press the corresponding button for each effect that you want to use. Some of the color choices don't read well on screen (I find yellow and pink difficult to look at) but you can't see them until after you've posted. If you don't like your choices you can use Modify and go back to the post and take out your effects.
-
P.S., you can only do this in the Reply mode. You don't have those options in Quick-Reply, the box at the bottom of the screen.
Thanks so much, Ben, for directing me to that post. And I see there's an area to practice as well. I appreciate your taking the time.
How about a Key Lime Cocktail, as mentioned at Ruhlman.com (http://blog.ruhlman.com/) recently:
Fill a shaker 3/4s full of ice, add an egg white (30 grams is ideal, says Tatiana), 3/4s of an ounce of key lime juice, 3/4s ounce of simple syrup (Paulius makes his with a 2:1 sugar-water ratio) and 1.5 ounces of Mount Gay rum. Shake it well and thoroughly, for two to five minutes, and pour into a chilled glass.
I finished watching a BONES episode I had started yesterday. This is the one where a woman's body was found in an air shaft under Washington, D.C. The story winds its way into becoming something like the movie NATIONAL TREASURE.
-
Oh! I just switched to Sr. Member. And got another star. What a nice surprise. :)
250 more posts, and you become an HHW God(dess). Then, you WILL be accorded special honors.
Yes Laura - I was just watching that story when I flipped on CNN. They said they initially thought a quake caused the cave-in, but now think the cave-in caused the tremors. Hope they can get to the trapped people quickly.
-
Next, I put in THE TICK VS SEASON 2, disc one. It's a cartoon show from the Fox Kid's Channel. A superhero story with definite echoes of the live action BATMAN series of the 1960s with broad humor, outlandish villains, and heroes in strange outfits. It's really kind of fun in an undemending sort of way.
-
They tried to do a live action version of THE TICK some years ago (Patrick Warburton - perfect casting - played The Tick), but it only ran half a season as a midseason replacement.
Nice. I shall try to get there quickly!
Nice. I shall try to get there quickly!
Methinks you will have a lot to post about over the next few weeks!
Did you call Barbara Bel Geddes' estate?
LOL. That was a great episode!
-
Can't wait to hear about how the auditions went!
-
Did you call Barbara Bel Geddes' estate?
It's her recipe.
Well, we did have a quick shower, but it was over in a few minutes, and now the streets are practically dry again! Amazing!
-
I cleaned the dining room this morning, so that chore is done. I guess I'll head down and read another chapter in THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE. It's SO good.
WBBL.
Happy Birthday vibes to TD!
-
Supportive vibes to Dakotacelt!
Thanks for the cold/sleeping advice Jane. I have been sleeping propped up, almost sitting but to no avail. Also I'm a tummy sleeper so it makes it almost as difficult for me to fall asleep this way. Tonight I'm going to see if a Ny-Quil cough and humidifier combo works. It's now been over a week since I've slept more than 1-2 hours at a stretch.
-
I am really looking forward to tonight's episode of The Closer.
-
Goodness, this may be the most I've posted in months!
-
I shall keep going!
HELSINKI (Reuters) - A Finnish squirrel, with a sweet tooth heads to a Finnish grocery shop at least twice a day to steal "Kinder Surprise" chocolate-shelled eggs.
"I named it FJLThe Kinder-Squirrel, after the treats. It always goes after them, other sweets do not seem to interest it as much," the manager of the store in Jyvaskyla, central Finland, told Reuters.
The confectionary, which is intended for children, has a toy inside.
"It removes the foil carefully, eats the chocolate and leaves the store with the toy," Irene Lindroos said.
Unfortunately, the bushy-tailed thief does not clean up after itself, but leaves the wrappers behind, she added.
Squirrels have a well deserved reputation for being clever and adaptable animals. Many a home owner has seen the small rodents raiding their supposedly "squirrel-proof" bird feeders
(This article was on the internet today!)
I have had many HHW sightings in the past few days.
-
Wednesday night whilst at Legally Blonde, Rodzinski and I saw DR Jason selling programs. We didn't get one, but Rodzinski did get me the lovely "Bruiser in a purse" stuffed animal.
-
On Saturday afternoon I attended dance class with DR Ben's Ant.
-
And on Sunday evening, on our way to the subway after having dinner with my roommate and friend, we ran across Jose, Elmore and BK who had just had dinner at Joe Allen's.
-
I just received a call from the casting folks and have an audition for the Brain on Wednesday. Hopefully I will be able to sing without breaking down into hacking coughs. Either way, it will be an interesting experience.
-
Nice. I shall try to get there quickly!
DR Julie ~ What color goddess-toga do you want? Sorry, no more puce-colored ones -- DR Naomi took the last one....
-
Ok, let's try this again. here's a link (http://www.ktiv.com/Streamer/stream.php?url=/Video/playlist.php?ID=15690) to the small event last night. I'm the profile talking to the guy in the blue shirt. It does give you an idea of the access we have to candidates
I can't watch this at work. :( I'll have to wait until I get home.
-
DR MusicGuy ~ You must post a photo (actually photos) of your new casa. Inquiring HHWers want to know what it looks like....Where did you put those cool art deco lamps?
-
Oh! I just switched to Sr. Member. And got another star. What a nice surprise. :)
Congratulations! ;D
-
Remember when I told week before last about the oven element exploding and prompting DH Richard to call the fire department? Well, today the not-so-lonely Maytag repairman came to look at both our stove and our washing machine. He fixed the washer, but said, "Don't even think about plugging this stove in." So, a couple of hours ago, I plunked down the ol' credit card for a new stove, which will be delivered Wednesday. The new stove and the old refrigerator won't match, but the fridge will probably be the next to go, so we can match them up then. At least when we get ready to sell this house, we can say "practically new appliances." ::)
-
DR MusicGuy ~ You must post a photo (actually photos) of your new casa. Inquiring HHWers want to know what it looks like....Where did you put those cool art deco lamps?
Hi dear Ms. Karen..... It is a little too chaotic and unpacked yet to take any photos. But the 2 deco hanging fixtures are safely in the garage. Their possible new location is still very undecided.
I'm dealing with far more practical matters, like, where are my Calphalon sauce pans??
-
DR TPunk - to get rid of the cough I had when DH Richard and I were in NYC last month required 2 trips to the doctor and a shot of a steroid called Kenalog. The improvement after that shot was almost immediate.
Whatever, best audition vibes for Wednesday!
-
STRESSLESS VIBES TO DR DAKOTA CELT!
My plans for the day include picking up a sumptuous, decadent cake from the best bakery in town, picking up my Elvis boxed set (plus the individual releases of THIS IS ELVIS, VIVA LAS VEGAS, JAILHOUSE ROCK etc); Dixie Bell and I have already had a wet morning walk. Later in the week I shall dine at a fine Indian restaurant - Jane, if you're listening, it's close to the campuses.
If only I had read farther before wishing TCB a happy birthday. In my defense, I don't have the best eye sight & I was rushing to to leave for puppy training class. Sherlock does the best COMES ;D, in class anyway. ;D
Please tell me the names of the best bakery & the Indian restaurant.
-
I too am wondering about the outcome and/or possibilities from today's auditions. Pearls of wisdom are needed from dear Esteemed BK ....
And I want to hear dear DR Jose's observations on what people brought with them, and all of that stuff. Jo jo, enquiring minds want to know. ::)
-
I know some people think that places like Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn't have so much influence, but I have to tell you, we take our role very seriously.
I think it is great you take it seriously. I don't think it is fair that by the time we vote in Oregon there aren't many options left, if any.
-
First spit-take of the morning! (Keep this up and we can do our own version of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE - I'll get out my fancy dress, which could easily be top hat, white tie and tails).
Ohhhhhhhhh, I thought you were going to get out your fancy DRESS.
-
Did anybody watch THE COMPANY on TNT last night?
We save the first episode saved on tivo.
-
Thoughts and prayers to DakotaCelt and family.
-
Richardson calls it a job interview and that's really what it is. He said yesterday that he used to think that Iowa shouldn't have this much influence, but that here people don't want to shake hands they want answers and that's really a good thing. He tried to end his larger event with a softball question from a young girl, I think she was 14. She asked "When you pull all the troops out of Iraq, what will you do to stabalize the Middle East?" There was a long pause and he said "How old are you?" That's Iowa.
If you become one of the delegates, you are not bound to your candidate. You can change at a later meeting even at the national convention. But it's the precinct caucuses that start the whole ball rolling and get all the attention.
I've caucused as a Republican, they do vote on paper and you don't have to tell who you voted for. I like the Democrat's way better.
If anyone wants to brave the Iowa winter (it's usually way below zero that week) to observe the caucus or has a candidate they want to meet face to face....you're welcome to come out and visit. (You can have the fill of all the food you bring yourself)
I ought to give Iowa a try!
-
Yay! I finished writing a treatment plan. Now I can go home and get my getting to be flabby rear end to the gym.
-
Even without a stove, I just managed to assemble one of our favorite summertime desserts - blueberry pie. Start with a graham cracker crust - yeah, I could have bought a ready-made one, but instead I followed my recipe which calls for chilling OR baking. Usually I bake it, because I like the aroma, but chilling seems to have worked fine. Then you just fill the crust with fresh blueberries and drizzle with a 12oz jar of red currant jelly that's been heated until thin and clear. Usually I do that on the stovetop, but the microwave seems to have worked fine. It's chilling now and later we'll have a slice, topped with a dollop of sour cream. Sounds weird, I know, but it works!
-
I have read through page 7 now. Jason I hope I find your day improved.
-
Sounds delish, Ginny.
-
I agree with you on that.
Wait a sec... you're reading HBP, not Deathly Hallows? I thought you'd already done HBP. Or was it just that you read Order of the Phoenix before seeing the movie?
-
DR Julie ~ What color goddess-toga do you want? Sorry, no more puce-colored ones -- DR Naomi took the last one....
And the chartreuse togas don't look so hot.
-
There is no such thing as a squirrel-proof bird feeder.
The move has proved too stressful for them, and they're out getting sauced.
::)
-
I ought to give Iowa a try!
Well, you can be contrary!
-
There used to be an entire category of pies known as refrigerator pies. They were popular, I believe, back in the thirties and forties. But, not being a dessert person, I don't know much about them. Research time, I guess.
Suitable vibes to all those in need of such.
I said the exact same thing two years ago after taking DR Jane's recommendation to check the show out in reruns of its first season and absolutely fell in love with it.
:D
I hope you enjoy HOT FUZZ and SHAUN OF THE DEAD as much as we did.
Isn't THAT dress in your closet?
SUPER FAST, GET WELL VIBES TO DR TPUNK!!!! [/b]
Was tempted to buy "Hot Fuzz" DVD yesterday but will wait for a few weeks until the price drops. Shaun is indeed very droll!
Did I miss a report of Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan doing the movie of "Mama Mia"?
-
My blueberry pie, continued: Years ago I worked with a woman who was somewhat of a food snob and thought graham cracker crusts were low-class. The week after I'd taken my version in to work (to glowing reviews from everyone else), she brought the same thing made with a pastry crust. It just wasn't the same.
-
Than I'm positive you will enjoy HOT FUZZ! Keep your expectations low though, nothing like too high of expectations to ruin a movie. Hmmm...I wonder if that is why Keith disliked ONCE so much. Nope, it wouldn't have mattered ;D
My mother never used a regular pastry crust for her lemon merangue pies. She always used a graham cracker crust, which would absorb any excess flavor from the lemon filling, making it even more delish. Pastry crusts can't do that.
How exciting! I was just notified that I won the El Gordo Lottery of Spain (which I don't even remember entering) The prize is 649,790.44, but strangely enough they are paying in pounds Sterling. Oh well, money is money.
;D Your description of the pie isn't very appealing without the graham cracker crust. The woman must not have liked cheesecake.
-
Fans of Saun and Fuzz may enjoy the UK comedy "Hyperdrive". I love shows that don't have laugh tracks.
I've just sent our copy on to DR Elmore.
-
Congratulations DR TCB. Do they pay your airfare so they you can collect in person?
El Gordo is the partner of El Dano in Toronto.
-
There is no such thing as a squirrel-proof bird feeder.
We had one in Michigan. It sat on a tall slippery pole the squirrels couldn't climb, far away from anything they could jump off of to reach the feeder.
We also had numerous "squirrel feeders" including one that held a corn cob. We would replace the cob once a day & it would be gone withing half an hour.
-
Congratulations DR TCB. Do they pay your airfare so they you can collect in person?
El Gordo is the partner of El Dano in Toronto.
No, I think they said if I give them my bank account number they can deposit it directly.
-
People are so thoughful TCB. DP Colin knows when you will be arriving to visit. (and no it's not just for your wealth)
-
Did I miss a report of Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan doing the movie of "Mama Mia"?
Probably...and I'd read that Christine Baranski is also going to be in it! :D
I would have preferred a film of "Carmelina".
How bizarre that I was listening to "The Cowboy and the Lady" and "Love and Other Crimes" yesterday and this morning. . .
Heard of Lee's passing yesterday.
He really produced some great work for Duane Eddy and Nancy Sinatra and even managed a solo hit here in Oz with "The Girls in Paris".
Oh, never mind.
-
No, but a sponge can.
Sponges are for cakes, not pies. Silly boy.
-
Lee & Nancy's duets are very popular here on oldies radio. "Did You Ever" seems to be the most played.
td, did you save me a piece?
There's a piece for you anytime, TCB. But, you already know that. . .
In the meantime, think about a Peach Melba Cake from the Oakmont Bakery. . .
"Summer Wine" was way more successful than the "a" side (Sugar Town) here in OZ. "Some Velvet Morning" was also a big hit here.
Those mini cakes are just my size. :)
I found a nice bakery in Friendship near the hospital. I kept returning for little chocolate cakes with cream filling.
TD, I was shocked I had trouble finding Tasty Cakes, and when I did they didn't have the chocolate Kandy Kakes. I have to admit the substitute from the bakery on/in Friendship were better, but I couldn't bring them home with me.
-
I am wondering how today's auditions went. And about the actress.
Ahh, not as good as I remembered.
Dinner is a cooking. Chicken legs/thighs in an Italian sweet and sour sauce.
I don't know what happened to the leg of lamb I thought we had in the freezer downstairs. Maybe we ate it already. :-\
This means, tomorrow I'm going to have to do some shopping.
Good Evening!
WHEW!!!
Back from the gym. I know that if I start working out regularly again it won't be such a drag, but it's really hard to get motivated in this hot, humid weather.
-
Than I'm positive you will enjoy HOT FUZZ! Keep your expectations low though, nothing like too high of expectations to ruin a movie. Hmmm...I wonder if that is why Keith disliked ONCE so much.
I'm afraid I wasn't crazy about it either, unlike everyone else I know!
Maybe it was because I was married to a songwriter/musician for 13 years?
-
-And you have no idea just how much I am looking forward to being able to sleep past 10:00 - heck, past 8:00! - tomorrow!
;)
I am wondering how today's auditions went. And about the actress.
I keep thinking we will hear something soon, before I sign off for the night.
My roommate and I are cat sitting our friend's two siamese mix kittens. They enjoy, eating out of Killbot's dish, using Killbot's box, fishing "toys" out of the trash, stealing food off of our plates, and making cute faces that cancel out all of the above.
-
Back from the gym. I know that if I start working out regularly again it won't be such a drag, but it's really hard to get motivated in this hot, humid weather.
I know what you mean, TPunk. I think it was 68 degrees here today.
I'm afraid I wasn't crazy about it either, unlike everyone else I know!
Or maybe because the music wasn't very good. ;D
TPunk, cute. How does Killbot feel about the kittens?
Or maybe because the music wasn't very good. ;D
It did seem very repetitive to me, but I guess that was part of the "reality" of it.
A little weatherbug tells me it was only 90F today. A very lovely day.
-
TPunk, cute. How does Killbot feel about the kittens?
She alternates between being irritated by them and being curious/wanting to join in their play.
Jose, enquiring minds want to know!
My first set of auditions went very well this morning. And I have to give major props to the actor/singers who came in this morning to sing High-Bs! "For Goooooooooooood's sake" -Later, Henrik.
-And I also have to thank, DR elmore, for loaning me his piano/vocal score for A Little Night Music since I could not find my copy here.
I will definitely be posting photos in the days to come. I took a really cute one of the little ones asleep- they were hugging. :)
As for The Brain auditions...
-The studio was nice, but cold!!!!!!. I was OK, since I had worn jeans and a long-sleeve shirt, but as the day went one, others in room had to don jackets... or just shiver. ;)
-For the most part, a good batch of auditionees. No real clunkers, and some very entertaining ones.
Watched tonight's Closer and enjoyed blueberry pie with my DH and DS - now I'm going to bed. Ask me how much I don't want to get up early for work tomorrow...
-
And now I'm just sitting here in my living room, quasi-watching TV and posting. And I'm probably going to head to bed a bit earlier tonight - I'm tired. We shall see...
-
DR MusicGuy - Good to hear that you're continuing to get settled. As for your Calphalon pans, well... I have a couple new, still-in-the-box Calphalon One pieces, a broiler pan, and tapas dishes if you can't find yours. ;)
"Well you push down these buttons here and strum like this....."
"Oh!" she exclaimed, "so you don't need any talent to play!"
He smilingly concurred and played away while she sat by happily listening
GET BETTER SOON VIBES for the everlovely TPUNK....
have you tried the steaming water with vicks vapor rub dissolved in it and towel trick yet?
NOT boiling water lest you scald yourself!!!!
Actually those are not my cards. I just find the photos of them on the internet.
REally...
You always find lovely cards...
Thank you for the vibes one and all...
It is going to be a rough road...
I can't get it to play ???
My weird dream involved my neighbor buying a HUGE black dog which he put in my backyard. It kept leaping up on the rear screen door (the one leading into my kitchen) and barking and it's claws were ripping the screen
any clues as to what that means, JRand?
BTW, was there any answer to that girl's question other than askingher age?
Continued vibes to bk, the brain and the fundraiser.... May the xylophones ring resoundingly!
I am keeping fingers and toesd crossed that after the auditions even more HHWers shall be involved in the NYMF festivities!!
I've tried Mucinex, not vicks vapor rub. Maybe I can get my roommate to pick me up some on her way home tonight. And if that doesn't work, I'll just go insane from sleep deprivation.
Electric. I do like a gas range, but gas ovens scare me. We're getting pretty much the same Maytag model we're replacing, just a newer version.
My weird dream involved my neighbor buying a HUGE black dog which he put in my backyard. It kept leaping up on the rear screen door (the one leading into my kitchen) and barking and it's claws were ripping the screen
any clues as to what that means, JRand?
It means you are afraid of big black dogs......... and you don't trust your neighbor.
'night!
It is going to be a rough road...
Dakota, please remember we all care & feel free to share with us, if it will help you.
Well actually that is true, on both counts!!
Thanks for posting the url tip Ben!
That will be $30.00 (I charge less than Jrand56).
I keep telling Lucy the kitten that she will not like kettle corn, but she doesn't believe me. Also, she'd like me to move aside so she can use the computer.
I just got back from Obama. Much more formal, much more security and many more brownies and cookies - but only about 35-40 people at the small get together. (I skipped the rally, too many people) I like what he says too. Oy! Glad I don't have to decide right now.
I hear ya Cilla. I think the months ahead will prove to be interestingly curious, yet infuriating.
-
It just worked for me.. I am impresseed! I may have to pack a picnic basket and take you up on your offer Cillaliz!!
BTW, was there any answer to that girl's question other than askingher age?
Yes, here is a link to his website for the issue http://www.richardsonforpresident.com/issues/iraq he went into more detail about it, but I won't go into it all here and I don't want to get it wrong
I could not get the clip to play....
I've tried Mucinex, not vicks vapor rub. Maybe I can get my roommate to pick me up some on her way home tonight. And if that doesn't work, I'll just go insane from sleep deprivation.
They have this new fangled steamer thingie now... but my Mom's method, which I still use is
1 put a tablespoon or so in the bottom of a heavy pot,
2 Pour some boiling water in and stir until it dissolves
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
3 Let the water cool a little so you don't scald youself
4 Put a towel over your head and the pot and breath in the steam
It ain't elegant... but then neither is a cold!!
The newfangled steam gadget can be purchased at CVS or Walgreens (I think it was about $20)
Back from a long day, a delightful evening, and I'm pooped.
Health vibes to TPunk...
I had a nasty summer cold a few weeks ago.. I hope it will allow you to have a great audition for THe Brain....
-
I've spent a half-hour reading all the posts and responding to a ton of e-mails. I have things to download and look at that I cannot download because of this stupid dial-up
-
I brought my laptop with me, but got no signal in the rehearsal room or anywhere else.
My favorite sidedish is cauliflower to my grandfathers', (and now my mom;s and now my recipe)
first you steam your cauliflower
when it is soft, put in a bowl and cut it into small pieces and season with butter, salt and pepper...stir in 3/4 of a quart of sour cream
press into a oven proof glass pie plate spread the remainder of the sour cream on top like frosting... sprinkle with seasoned breadcrumbs and Hungarian paprika (not too much )
bake in 375 degree oven 20 minutes or until golden brown on top
It is wonderful especially with Roast Beef and gravy
The auditions were very interesting. As Jose said, there weren't any real clunkers, although, for me, two people came close. We saw one terrific actor, which has now totally colored the way I've been thinking about going with the part (I'd basically offered it to a semi-name with whom I'd worked before years ago - I finally connected with that actor tonight and there are some issues and I'm thinking I wouldn't be sad if the issues made it impossible to work out - although I know he'd be terrific). We saw quite a few candidates for the beatnik boyfriend role, but our casting director really didn't understand what I wanted, so he's bringing in more people on Wednesday. Jason sang very well, and Jose did a great job - all the people our choreographer brought in were excellent, and, in fact, we cast two of them and will cast the rest on Wednesday. We STILL have no news on the actress, which is really annoying and I'm basically tired of the game, from wherever it is emanating. If we get a "go" tomorrow, that will be fine. If we get a "pass" then I'll call her and just make sure she knows what's going on - and ask her if there's anything I can do to make the decision easier.
-
After the session, Adam, our choreographer, and I went and had a little meeting - he's got very good energy and we discussed all the numbers and I told him what I wanted to stay the way I'd staged it, and where he had leeway. And I told him that I was completely open to any ideas he might have, but that I'm very specific about the look and tone of the show and they all have to fit within that framework. I think we're both going to have fun.
-
Oh yes, the TOD. Some of my favorite side dishes are mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, risotto (although I often eat that as a main course), and onion rings. Of course all of those are on the list of bad foods that my doctor gave me. I have high cholesterol.
-
I wish I had had such a meeting with the director of the FANTASTICKS...whoever he may be.
-
Wait a sec... you're reading HBP, not Deathly Hallows? I thought you'd already done HBP. Or was it just that you read Order of the Phoenix before seeing the movie?
I've been talking about this for over a week, but I know you've been busy and not here evry day. Yes, it's HALF BLOOD PRINCE I'm reading.
I read PHOENIX from Christmas-January in preparation for the upcoming film. I was going to wait to read PRINCE until next summer preparing for the next film in holiday season 2008, but I read one spoiler and figured it was going to be impossible to not read spoilers over the next three years for these last two books, so that's why I decided to just go ahead and read them one after the other.
bk - Did you find SuperMacNYC? (http://www.supermacnyc.com)
Blueberry pie.
Now I want blueberry pie.
DR TCB stop undercutting me!!!
DR VIXMOM the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates you are anticipating a bad reaction from your neighbors to something that you plan or wish to carry out. You also feel somewhat under pressure from them to make changes to something that you are completely happy with.
Wow!!! Auditions!!!
Oh my god! Jose, why did you post this? I'm supposed to be limiting my cheese intake!
I'm going to suggest to Rodzinski that we visit this restaurant tomorrow night when we hang out.
Well, actually, I prefer S'MAC (http://www.smacnyc.com/). DR Jason and I have dined there a few times. :)
-Although, SuperMacNYC does have the deep-fried mac'n'cheese balls, so... ;)
-
I took a 45 minute nap later this afternoon. I haven't been sleeping late in the mornings for some reason, and it's finally catching up to me. My eyes have been heavy for most of the night.
-
Okay folks, it's time for me to settle in for the night. Sweet dreams!
It's a good thing I don't have my next blood test for another 3 months... that will give my body time to recover, right?
-
Good night everyone!
-
I finished the entire disc 1 of THE TICK VS. and then started on disc 2. I have 3 more episodes and I will be done with it.
Just make sure to have the salad before your main course.
DR Jason and you dined there ONCE. We need to remedy that... :-X
Back from a long, hot, sticky day... I feel fairly good about my audition today. I had arrived at the studio just moments before the casting director came out and brought me in to sing, so I'm afraid I wasn't quite as ready to go as I'd hoped to be, but I think it went well.
After the movie, I swam through 34th street to Garrett's Popcorn Shop and then made my way uptown to the movie theatre on 42nd Street, where I saw two - count 'em, TWO - motion pictures: "No Reservations" and "Transformers."
After that, I went to work at Avenue Q. And it's WAY too humid outside!
-
I had about 20 minutes before THE CLOSER was coming on, so I started BERSERK, and it's just as ridiculous and fun as I remembered. (I did skip the lengthy elephant act.) Ty Hardin meets Crawford, does his act, joins the show, and in the next scene, he's saying, "I'm crazy about you, Monica." Oh, my, how ludicrous. It makes me burst out laughing every time I see it.
-
Jose, we did find it, but it was so tiny inside that we went down the street to some bar and grill that was roomier.
-
THE CLOSER was indeed wonderful. I teared up a couple of times (won't spoil them for others) and then got petrified near the climax. Excellent episode.
-
OK - Well, I did warn you that it was a sliver of a place. But, again, remember, they deliver. Even to rehearsal studios. ;)
Got to save some details for the notes, but after the meeting I went to FJL and Skip's home environment where I had the best time - unfortunately I had to deal with two telephonic calls whilst there, which I hate doing, but I had no choice. Skip is really a world-class cook - his fried chicken was superb, his ribs were spicy and yummilicious and his potato salad was beyond good - I had three big helpings. elmore was a no-show, I think he was not feeling well. The lovelier than lovely Julie and Milla were there, and we had a high old time and we laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again.
-
SAVING GRACE was a little better tonight, but the case was unsolvable with the clues provided, so it turned into a crime drama rather than a mystery. The religious stuff still seems irritatingly intrusive, but at least tonight with churches playing a part in the story, it made more sense to have it.
-
I do intend to try it - if not on this trip, definitely on the next one - I may have time in between meetings tomorrow to give it a whirl.
DR elmore was a no-show? When I went into the subway at 42nds Street, he said he was just going to hang out for a while - possibly in the Virgin Megastore - before heading over to Fred and Skip's. -Did he call? Did you call him?
-
And remember, the Mac'N'Cheese at Macy's is pretty tasty too! Yes, Macy's. :)
-
Oooh...Macy's. I miss the grilled chicken caesar salad at Macy's.
When do you wanna go, Jose?? ;)
-
I'm heading downstairs now to go to bed. I can barely keep my eyes open.
Good night!
Oh, you had Skip's fried chicken!
I dream about that chicken.... I tried to make it myself but it was a pitiful pale facsimile of the original and proved to me I had no business attempting to make the dish myself
The Vixter's comment about my chicken. "Well, at least you tried"
Now aI want a pice of Skips delicous, moist, perfectly seasoned fried chicken
Well, there's always tomorrow.
Unless there were leftovers at Fred and Skip's tonight. ;)
Now I'm worried. Did he call to cancel?
-
Can someone call him to see if all is ok?
-
Maybe he got lucky at the Virgin Megastore
-
Can someone call him to see if all is ok?
It's nearly midnight, if he's sleeping he won't appreciate the call...
-
Well then he should have called to cancel his dinner plans ;)
You're right, of course
Unless he called Fred and Skip, and bk just didn't indicate that in his post. ???
-
And just where is DR FJL?
-
And just where is DR FJL?
Eating left over chicken , perhaps
-
Well then he should have called to cancel his dinner plans ;)
You're right, of course
He may have done, bk didn't say
I guess he MUST have because bk said something about elmore not feeling well ...
-
I keep telling Lucy the kitten that she will not like kettle corn, but she doesn't believe me. Also, she'd like me to move aside so she can use the computer.
Just picturing this made me laugh!
-
Well, I'm sure DR elmore is all right.
-I just hope BK is comfortable tonight. It's definitely not as cool as it was last night, and the humidity is hovering around 70%. :-\
-
Well... It's been a string of long days for me, and I truly am about to fall asleep on my laptop, so...
Goodnight.
-
Well I must to bed...
VIBES to Elmore... wherever he is!!!
-
Good night all!!
-
If DR Elmore does not post first thing in the morning (east coast time) will someone please call him and make sure he is Okaydokay? Just to be sure.
-
VIBES to ELMORE...hope you are home and sleeping well.
-
Or at someone else's home and not sleeping at all ;)
-
elmore apparently went over there about forty-five minutes early, and they weren't ready for company yet. So, elmore said he was going home. They did talk on the phone or via e-mail later, and all was well, except elmore said he wasn't feeling great and was going to stay home.
-
It was so hot and muggy walking home (with my laptop strung over my shoulder) I was dripping with sweat by the time I got to the apartment. The bedroom isn't terribe, but I'm going to have to leave the AC on tonight for sure. The rest of the apartment is unbearable.
-
Just you and me again, BK....and I'm going to sign off. Night. Hope you can get some sleep in the heat.
-
Notes will go up in fifteen minutes or so.
-
Will we never get to page eighteen?
-
I will single-handedly take us to page eighteen.
Man, less than fifty postings to my new and improved plateau.
My contribution towards getting us to page 18.
