Well, you've read the notes, the notes boggled, and now it is time for you to post until the boggled cows come home.

Had to change the title of the notes after posting them, as I'd already used the title - when and how I have no idea - in fact it boggled my mind that I'd used My Lids Are Heavy before.

Today I have been listening to some songs by Gilbert Becaud.

DVD - still the Uk/Belgium TV series "Secret Army

DR Jeanne (and Elmore) - we thoroughly enjoyed "The Dutchess of Duke Street" (and yes, more so than "Upstairs Downstairs")

Way back in 1975 I saw two of the Juniors from Downstairs in a Christmas Pantomime in London. Chistopher Beeney (Edward) and ?

And the word of the day is: SWIVET!
When Elise brought the steaming tuna casserole to the table, she was talking so much that she missed the trivet completely and put the scorching pot directly on the table, giving her entire family a SWIVET as the smell of burning wood reached their noses!

As for DVDs, der B and I laid our hands on a nifty box set of Shakespeare films: the Branaugh Hamlet, the Olivier Othello, the Reinhart Midsummer Night's Dream, and the Cukor Romeo and Juliet.

The list of performers in these films is longish, and they all have names, many of which are recognizable.  Apparently, you cannot be a nobody if you want to get cast in a Shakespeare film, at least if you want a speaking part.

And now I must get ready for work.  Tra and la.

Der Brucer is asleep on the couch.  So are Fletcher and Mikey.  Bonnie and Buster are on the window ledge behind the couch.  It's very crowded.

Nope, Buster just left the ledge and gingerly climbed over der B to get to the floor.  More room.

From Adrianna Patti last night:

Not to say anything about your show in particular, but what you say is true...Look at
"The Perfect Crime" across the street from TKTS...It was HORRRIBLE, yet sells out everyday to the tourists and has been running for years.

Adrianna, you saw that piece of s**t play??? I'm so sorry for you. As I've said before, Perfect Crime has to be one of the absolute worst things I have ever seen in my entire life. I began seeing theatre as a young un' (around 11 or 12 years old) and I'm now 54 and I think Perfect Crime ranks as one of the top five worst things ever and the fact that it's been running for over 24 years is AMAZING!!!

Oh, and one more thing, the show is now at 50th Street and Broadway in the "new" Snapple Theatre Center. The building which housed the theatre on Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets is being dismantled and yet another multi-story office building will line the streets of midtown Manhattan. That building also housed the old HoJo's and the remnants of the old entrance to the Globe Theatre which is now called the Lunt-Fontanne. The name was changed and the entrance moved to 46th Street in 1958 and the theatre re-opened with Lunt and Fontanne doing Friedrich Dürrenmatt's The Visit.

And that, good audience, is your theatre history lesson for today.

Thanks, singdaw.  And just in case the vibes don't work, I ordered a copy of From Here to Paternity, which deals with fighting paternity suits when you yourself are the lawyer for the other side.  If only I (as attorney) weren't such a good, conscientious attorney, I (as defendant) wouldn't have to worry.  But I (the attorney) am such a shark that I could probably get RuPaul to admit he's a father.

Good morning, all! I have my usual trek to Toyland this morning, another inventory of things to be looked up and photocopied at the Library of Congress, perhaps an office supplies order for the new office, and perhaps another trip to the NYPL.  I will be ecstatic once the office has a computer so we can finish the Appendix numbers in Volume One of the Toyland edition and seriously delve into Volume Two.

Has the season change begun: the air seems different, and I've been thinking about the verse to Arthur Schwartz's song "Goodbye to All That":  Don't look now, but summer's over.

TOD:
CD:  The Brain From Planet X, Verdi's DON CARLO (French version), Babes In Arms, Happy End

Did anyone hear this recipe for Wacky Cake on NPR's All Things Considered the other day?   "Wacky" because one of the ingredients is white vinegar...

Mary Carole Battle's Mother's Wacky Cake

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon white vinegar
6 tablespoons cooking or salad oil
1 cup cold water

In an 8-inch- or 9-inch-square cake pan, sift the dry ingredients. Make three holes; pour the vanilla in the first, vinegar in the second, and oil in the third.

Pour the cold water over the mixture, and stir until no longer lumpy. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. If desired, top with seven-minute frosting (below).

Seven-Minute Frosting

2 egg whites
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients except the vanilla extract in top of a double-boiler; beat about 1 minute to mix together. Place over bottom half of double-boiler; once water has started boiling, beat on high for 7 minutes. Soft peaks should form easily; remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat another minute or two.

bk, BANACEK was never a part of the Sunday Mystery Movie series with COLUMBO. MCCLOUD (as you said), MACMILLAN AND WIFE, and HEC RAMSEY were the other components.

BANACEK anchored its own group of Mystery Movies on Wednesday (and then switching to Tuesday). NBC tried lots of shows to pair with it, but other than BANACEK, none ever reallty caught on. Among those attempts were MADIGAN, COOL MILLION, THE SNOOP SISTERS, TENAFLY, and FARADAY & CO.

Tonight are the usual MONK and PSYCH new episodes. John Amos guest stars on PSYCH, and the episode got a good review from USA TODAY's TV critic.

Also tonight is the premiere of Disney's HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 which I will be recording so I can watch it without commercials. I expect this will be one of the biggest TV events of the summer with the preteen and young teen crowd.

Just looked at the original complaint from Miss Karen's now-disbarred original attorney.  All she was asking for then was some uneaten chocolate and some undead flowers, which she claimed I ode her under promissory estoppel.

I ode her?  That stupid attorney couldn't even spell!

But I could have settled.  Live and learn.  Never be the opposing side's attorney!

So, I've definitely got the BRAIN on the brain...
I had a dream last night that we were having the first read-through and rehearsal for the show.  For some reason, I was getting there late - and I walked in and they handed me the script and we were just working on a scene that I wasn't in anyway - but then we launched into "The Plan" and it was a complete new song and they didn't hand me the music or even the lyrics.  We had this short, dark haired guy who was supposedly a "producer" and was running everything.

It was odd -- but there definitely was a sense of fun in the room.

Man, I can't wait until next week...

Morning all...

Posting from work, where I am actually at my desk, in my office, instead of in auditions!  What a luxury... it's nice to be here and be able to take care of some business that I've been putting off for a long time because I just haven't been here long enough to get into anything.  So of course I'm taking advantage of this by posting on HHW!!!

Had a fun couple of days with DR Jose on the keys, accompanying some Angry Housewives.  My next round is not until September 6 -- another dance call for Movin' Out.  The Rockettes are ruining my life and taking away lots of my dancers.  I lost three in my 42nd Street cast and two in Movin' Out within a two-week period.  Sucky ball change.

I sent BK some suggestions last night -- hopefully some of those will help him out.  Crossing my fingers and sending good vibes to BK for casting!!!

Vibes to all who need them... sounds like almost everyone needs a healthy dose of good vibes and xylophones, so here you are:

DR TOMOVOZ:
Thanks for the feedback on DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET. I identify with the character of Louisa Trotter so strongly that it's difficult for me to gauze how the series would come across to others. I found both series 1 and 2 quite compelling. I love how the characters change as the country goes to war and must live with the consequences of war. In fact, I think I love everything about this series! Glad to hear you and Colin enjoyed it, too.

BK mentioned in the notes that in the "old days" things were quite different and actors were more professional in their attendance. I concur. I started acting not long after Bruce did and this sort of behavior was SIMPLY UNHEARD OF. We were young, oh yes, but we were thrilled to have those roles and did our very best. I recall more than once walking to the theatre (yes, I WALKED) after a bad day and feeling so pleased to have a performance to look forward to.

OK, I'll quit now. Otherwise, I'll need some of the anti-aging vibes I just sent to FJL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOODY!

SPEAKING OF HAIRCUTS - I'm reminded of Jack Valenti, the President of the Motion Picture Association of America, who recently passed away. His barber cut his hair with a cigarette lighter. No kidding! He would singe Jack's hair short by passing the lit lighter over the ends of the hair. Rather than making the hair dry and coarse, this method actually made the hair soft--or so said Jack who had been going to the same barber for over 30 years.

Well, there's always the reunion show to think about...plus we can hike up merchandise prices when we finally get back on stage together.

At least a $5 price mark-up on all t-shirts, with a potential 2% mark-up on double-disc cast recordings.

And, to avoid conflict with whose name precedes the other on the marquee, I propose we have a spinning marquee...one side reads "The Jason and Cason Show," the other reads "The Cason and Jason Show." Equal billing all around.

Of course, that would require all merchandising to be either double printed or to alternate "Jason/Cason" and "Cason/Jason." Due to royalty costs, however, I'm afraid we may not be able to use either of our likenesses on novelty items such as mugs, keychains, magnets, mousepads, tote bags, umbrellas, buttons, dog tags or aprons, but our likenesses can and will be used on all display items, including but not limited to windowcards, billboards, souvenir programs (front cover: Jason/Cason, back cover: Cason/Jason, or vice-versa, per the agreement reached by our legal representatives) and all advertising.

Our people will be in touch.

I'm up, I'm up.  No news yet, so no news is good news.  One Joy suggestion was an actress I hadn't thought of, that I'd seen in a show several years ago - she was brilliant - not exactly what I had in mind for Joyce but could do it.  She's doing a NYMF show - cast by my guy - but I can't blame him since I just thought of her, and he wouldn't have because she's so different than the others we've been discussing.

And so - we wait.

WOW!

When shooting Willy Wonka in Germany, the german maids would do this to the little girl's hair, and as you watch the scenes you can see it change lengths. Varuka (Julie Dawn Cole)  talks about it on the commentary.

I think Eric and Jessica just handed the final two over to Dick and Daniele.

As for Eric, he HAD to do what he did.  His missions, as America's Player, were (1) to get Dustin nominated and (2) to get Dustin evicted.

It's a shame they had to lie about Dustin in order to pull it off.  I hope Eric and Jessica and Zach get what's coming to them very soon.

Inquiring minds want to know.

DR Ron - this is funny because it's so close to public library reality.  Well, all except the Dewey part...

Today:

The carpet repair crew was here when we opened, requiring that our normal traffic patterns be rerouted.  Of course, no one was prepared for it (maintenance, administration), so we front-line folks had to improvise signage and such.

A nearby school was having an Amazing Race type event and trios of teenagers were running in asking,  "Where's the clue?"  Of course, we had NO clue and our PR idiot told us to ask them what school they're from.  I said, "First we'll have to catch them."

The local newspaper and 2 TV stations had the story of one of the bottom-feeders who spends lots of time here arrested last night for a rape just 2 blocks away.

DR IChing---I'm so sorry to hear about your co-worker's daughter. This has happened to children of several friends of mine and there's really no magic words to take the pain away. Knowing that someone cares means a tremendous amount, no matter what you say.

I struggled to find those words, too, when my friend's mom dispapeared and was finally found. A lot of co-workers didn't know what to say and therefore said nothing. So he really appreciated me keeping in contact and expressing my condolences.

I know you will think of the perfect thing to say, just as you do here at HHW.

This morning went very well.  There was a surprisingly low turn out today.  When I got there, there were only 54 men signed up to audition.  And only about 14 non-Equity men signed up! (Trust me, that really was surprising.)  In any case, when all was said and done, we were done around 12:30.

It was great being in the room with Brad Haak again.  We first worked together a few years on Children of Eden at Ford's Theatre - which I believe our Delaware contingent saw - and he also got me on board for Lestat, and we've worked on some smaller projects here and there too.  He was happy to see me, I was happy to see him, etc., etc., etc.  And we saw some pretty good people today too.

Alas, the pianist who was originally schedule for the whole day did call to say that he could still play the afternoon session, so... I have the afternoon off before I play ACL tonight.  And I'll be meeting DR Jason in a bit to catch a movie. :)

He's a wonderful singer!  He was in the musical Romance/Romance (http://www.amazon.com/Romance/dp/B00006JND8/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3712075-1692941?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1187371153&sr=1-1) on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award®!  And he got to sing on an episode of "Quantum Leap" with guest star Michele Pawk!

It is interesting that it sometimes takes over a week for an actor to come back and say there are insurmountable scheduling problems, but they don't feel or partuclarly care about the urgency for the show to go on to the next person.  They are at times making a decision of whether it's worth turning down sometimes well-paying jobs to do a show for just a small stipend.

From yesterday---Der B mentioned sylabub..my mom makes this at Christmas. I can't remember what all is in it but it is mighty tasty.

SYLLABUB

4 servings

¼ cup white wine or sherry
2 tablespoons brandy
Juice of 1 lemon
Pared rind of lemon (reserve ¼ for garnish)
4 tablespoon sugar
½ Pint of heavy cream
Dash of nutmeg

Mix first four items in bowl, cover, refrigerate over night.

Strain liquid into bowl, add sugar, stir until dissolved

Whip cream until it holds its shape in soft peaks; add nutmeg

Stir the wine mixture slowly into the whipped cream

Spoon gently into small glasses and chill before serving

Blanch the reserved rind gently in boiling water for 15 minutes, drain, cool.

Place a cluster of rind atop each serving

(Can be made a day in advance of serving; chardonnay is a nice wine choice)

Note: One must be possessed of a mixed temperament to prepare this dish, what with whipping then spooning gently

I'd thought of John Schneider, but to approach someone like him with rehearsals only a week away, would, I think, be folly and impossible.  Same with Bakula.  Had we gone that route three weeks ago as we did with Donny Osmond, there might have at least been interest.

You are correct, BK.  Elaine Stritch is an entirely different take for Joyce.

Woody will probably go for the Coconut Shrimp - me, the Baked Oysters, for sure!

This evening entree choce is a bit problematic:

Woody hates won't touch asparagus or parsnips and the fish and chicken he can do at home!

Me - I might do the pork shank.

Of course, there is the pasta menu:

He could do the Penne, me the Linguine

I'd thought of John Schneider, but to approach someone like him with rehearsals only a week away, would, I think, be folly and impossible.  Same with Bakula.  Had we gone that route three weeks ago as we did with Donny Osmond, there might have at least been interest.

I have to say that I haven't seen him in awhile, but when I worked with him years ago he was a very nice, kind guy.

Well, BK has his casting problems and I have MD problems: I'm stuck dealing with band problems because our MD is in Scotland and can't tell the designer how he'd like the band space laid out, so I have to do it.  Since I neither have to play in the band nor keep the ensemble together, I hate having a responsibility that may not make the MD, designer or director happy in the long run.

I wish that John Schneider would do an album of standards....he has the voice for it.

If Mr. Bakula were to do an album, I would also buy it.

There used to be this great photo of Scott Bakula back in his modeling days.  He is wearing nothing but a pair of briefs.  I'll bet M Barnum has that photo.

Next up, I watched today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Oh, brother, colonel father wants his son to enter the military because he suspects he's gay. Once he parades his girl friend for inspection, talk of enlisting is forgotten. Meanwhile, suspected gay son (who's in denial) has his necktie tied by out gay friend and fireworks ensue.

Well worth watching. I think this is the first time I actually seen two guys kiss on a soap. Yes, I've followed gay storylines on ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE several times over the years but this was a first for me.

It seems imperative to me that the bass, drums, and keyboard 1, being the rhythm section, should be close together to keep the ensemble tight.  Heather thinks it can be worked out, but the MD is the one who has to be happy.

Has the season change begun: the air seems different, and I've been thinking about the verse to Arthur Schwartz's song "Goodbye to All That":  Don't look now, but summer's over.

bk, BANACEK was never a part of the Sunday Mystery Movie series with COLUMBO.

Further complicating things is the interesting detail that McCloud and Night Gallery first appeared as mini-series in a program called, as I recall, Four in One.  The concept was that each series would run for six weeks in the timeslot, then be replaced by the next, and then by the third and fourth shows.  I'll be danged if I can recall what the other two shows were called, or what they were about, but the concept failed, McCloud was relocated to the-much-easier-for-audiences-to-understand Sunday Mystery Movie, and Night Gallery returned as a weekly series.

It was at about this time that NBC also aired The Name of The Game, with Gene Barry, Tony Franciosa, and Robert Stack rotating in stories about a publishing empire.  During the first season, Susan St. James was featured in all three rotations, as a girl friday - a job she left when the McMillan and Wife gig came her way.

There's something about Jason/Cason that sounds a lot like Marat/Sade.   :o

It seems imperative to me that the bass, drums, and keyboard 1, being the rhythm section, should be close together to keep the ensemble tight.  Heather thinks it can be worked out, but the MD is the one who has to be happy.

That is not the way it was done in LA, elmore - keyboard one was as far away from the drums as a keyboard could be and the bass was between drums and keyboard two.

There was no aisle for the actors between the drums & bass and the keyboard either! Nor were they lined up like little ducks in a row.  And that is why Mr Goldberg should be here determining the space.

They won't be "lined up" they'll be angled in towards center and should have good sight lines.  I've told the set gal to e-mail Larry, since he has lovely e-mail access wherever it is he is.

The band will actually be closer together in the Acorn, despite the aisle - much smaller space.

Mr Goldberg is in Scotland and dumped the problem back into my lap.
As I wrote earlier, Heather and I are fine about things.  We spoke on the phone and things will be worked out.

Last night's TV had interviews etc with a group attempting to put a stop the use of pre teens as models and the sexualisation of youngsters as marketing "objects". Of course the advertising agents and magazines are claiming they are just reflecting popular culture and not influencing and creating it!

At least pressure as led to a 15 year old NOT being used as Model of the year or whatever the title is.

The anti group has created a magazine and internet information site using models explaining how photos of their own body images have been altered (scupltured) by the agencies etc and the "real them" often does not have the same "structure".

The "soft porn" of billboards and video music clips is being targeted.

Good evening -
Have had an eventful day.  The "Bukowsical!" show went well today - there were some very weird energies going on  backstage, and in spite of me feeling like basically everyone was phoning it in, it was actually a decent show.

I officially go on Monday at 2pm.  We were only extended two shows (they were shooting for 3, but one would have been at midnight on Sunday, followed by a double on Monday...) - just the two on Monday and I'll be in the afternoon slot.

After the show, I raced uptown (no thanks to the 4, the so-called "express" train) to catch dinner with DRs Jason and Jose; then caught A Chorus Line thanks to the lovely Jose.  Fantastic show - and it just makes me want to be on Broadway more than ever...

He already graciously took me around this past week.  :)
But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...

Well, you could do what I did and get down to Battery Park and walk from there all the way up to where DR Elmore lives...you will see a LOT during that days walk!

Oh, and have lunch at the diner across the street from Macey's...it just seems so NY-ish.

That's very easily answered. FOUR IN ONE had these four components:

McCLOUD, THE PSYCHIATRIST (Roy Thinnes), NIGHT GALLERY, and SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL (Lloyd Bridges).

I began my evening by watching last night's BURN NOTICE. These weekly hours are like a mini-OCEANS ELEVEN every week. It's a witty mini-caper kind of show that has terrific pace and such a light sense of humor amid some serious escapades. Really super special show.

Next I put on a MEDIUM season 2 episode. This was the one where a song gets trapped in Allison's head that drives her batty, but the story quickly leaves that scenario to become a close cousin to Hitchcock's I CONFESS.

The second season DVDs of MEDIUM are very close to high definition in quality when played on an upconverting player.

Vixmom, they still have the wooden escalator, but now it takes you to several different eatery establishments, among them the one downstairs.  They also have a whole food court in the Junior department, including a Ben & Jerry's.  And there's a Starbucks, too... comes in handy after several hours of hardcore shopping.

OMG, we're totes BFF! :)

I haven't seen the new Paul. I'm sure I'll hear all about him from the merch staff at the show. My first time seeing it was when this production was in previews, and I thought most of it worked really well. I think the show itself is quite moving, but I wasn't overly impressed with some of the casting choices. I've not seen the cast that's on now, so hopefully things are looking up over there at the Schoenfeld (it'll always be the Plymouth to me).

When my inlaws came over from England the Christmas after we married, we took them for a tour of New York at Christmas time including a trip to Macy's.

We lunched at the basement eatery where my FIL ordered fish and chips , after it arrived he realized in horror that he might have to make do with  tomato catsuo.... I called over the waitress and in seconds a bottle of his favorite malt vinegar appeared with which he could liberally slather his  "chips"

I think that was the best part of the whole trip for him!! :D

Larry and singdaw - I'm hoping to be at Skip's show tomorrow as well.  Since Skip is actually performing in the show, and I know how strong opinions on here can get (see Bukowsical and PB&J), could I respectfully beg that any negative comments be held until after the show closes on August 28?

Frankly, the reviews of the one-act evening have been quite varied.  Almost every review picked out a favorite among the evening's variety of one-acts (the musical by Eduardo Machado and Skip is the second piece in the second act, and is the last piece of the performance).  And for the most part, when a critic liked one of the pieces above the others, that citic would go on about the piece he or she liked and then just run through the others.   The theaterscene.net critic liked Skip's piece AFTERNOON TEA the most of the four; the Times really liked Leslie Lyle's RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES the most, as did backstage; nytheatre.com liked Warren Leight's AMICI, ASCOLTAT (sp?) the best.  And so it went.

Originally, it was an electric guitar with a "Wah-Wah" pedal.  Now, it's Keyboard 2 equipped with an extra "foot controller" that acts as a Wah-Wah pedal.

*It's the same effect in the last Montage during Richie's section - that descending scale right before he cusses.  ;)

By the by, I am SHOCKED (!) that DR Cason has not yet mentioned that he actually had his first slice of the infamous Monkey Cake this very eve. Someone almost left the cake out in the rain, though...

The cake was fantastic, the company somewhat sedate but wonderful - the "ambiance" was...lacking

Did anyone hear this recipe for Wacky Cake on NPR's All Things Considered the other day?   "Wacky" because one of the ingredients is white vinegar...

Mary Carole Battle's Mother's Wacky Cake

....

Well... There are a couple of cake recipes that count vinegar among their ingredients.  Since it's an acid, it aids in the leavening of the cake.  My favorite, easy and quite delicious Chocolate Cake recipe uses cider vinegar.

Very well done, obviously by someone well versed in the popular trailer tricks. (That sounds sort of dirty....) That is, certain ways of cutting that everyone else then steals. A friend of mine has been a trailer editor for many years and I've seen people copy things he came up with.

I saw the Shining one a few years ago, and the Mary Poppins one last week. (It may have been posted here?) I hadn't seen the Sound of Music one though. I think that's my favorite!

And Thanks for all the Congrats on my upcoming Mary Poppins gig.  I really do owe Brad big time for offering this to me, and working around the one conflict I have during the time - which happens to fall at the end of the first week of rehearsals.

I got my copy of the piano/vocal score today, and, well... There a LOT of notes.  And since I'll be playing rehearsals for any of the scenes that the children are in, well, I have a lot of music to practice and learn - including a bunch of dance sequences.  It'll be a challenge, but I'm feeling up to it right now.  I'll basically be employed for about four or five weeks.  The cool thing about the schedule is that they rehearse Wednesday-Sunday, so I'll have at least two days off a week for other work - or just to take off (which I'm sure I'll need).  And I'll also start learning one of the keyboard books so that I can start covering for the associate conductor (when she conducts).

DR Jane - I'm not going to Alaska.  And I had already sort of decided that before this Mary Poppins gig fell in my lap.  Timing-wise, it was just too long a slot - two weeks - to be out of town - and not available for work.  And paying for the trip would have also put a slight strain on my bank account for September.  However, since I seem to be in the midst of a very "profitable" period right now, I'm seriously considering either taking another cruise sometime in October, and/or heading down to Disneyworld for a couple of days.  I haven't been to the Magic Kingdom in a couple of years, and since I can now get into the parks for free, well... :)  We shall see...

And I've actually done that show!  And had a wonderful time doing it too.  -And we had even approached Michael Rupert about writing another segment for the sort of History of Popular Music sequence.  We were gonna have each of the guys come out dressed as Michael Jackson at various stages of his career and "coloring".  ;)

*And we did have a very brief bit of nudity in our production - but it was handled the same way the nudity was handled in The Full Monty.  Although, since the band (myself included) was on stage, I was never blinded by the backlight.  Just sayin'... ::)

Bad news today on the lightening damage report: $1200 in repairs needed.

Could you bill that to the Pastor who's leaving?

He already graciously took me around this past week.  :)
But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...

Well, we still haven't been to the Reservoir.  ;)

Seriously, I think a jaunt through Central Park - with a walk around the Reservoir - should definitely be on your "To Do" list.

Plus, we could start off at Levain, and pick up some "nourishment" for the walk, and then end at Grom to cool down with some gelato.

Well, you could do what I did and get down to Battery Park and walk from there all the way up to where DR Elmore lives...you will see a LOT during that days walk!

Oh, and have lunch at the diner across the street from Macey's...it just seems so NY-ish.

Well, I don't know about a diner across the street from Macey's, but there is one across the street from Macy's.  ;)

Although, there are a couple of diners in that area, however, I think you're thinking of the one attached to the Hotel New Yorker.

DR Elmore told me where to go once...but I didn't know how to get there.

You don't need to know how to get there.  You just end up there.

But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...

Well... I got an e-mail today, and it looks like I will have a bit more free time next week than I thought.  Right now, the only things on my plate are the three days of Alladin auditions, Tuesday-Thursday.  So... Monday is open...  As are my evenings.  *And I'm still trying to decide whether or not to have some sort of gathering next Sunday. ;)

After working at Q for several months now, I can really appreciate how brilliant the puppetry work was on the Muppet Show... Some of this stuff requires 2 or 3 operators PER CHARACTER!

Do they still have the restaurant in the bottom of Macys... where you have to take the wooden escalator to get down?

I love eating in The Cellar.  And when Steve comes up to NYC, besides eating at least one meal at Becco, we also sup at Macy's.  They have a great "Meal for Two" deal that includes a soup or salad, entree (chicken, steak, shrimp), even dessert.  And, I have to say, the steak there is pretty damn good!

There's also the cafeteria-style La Cucina with various stations with various types of food.  *And, again, the Mac & Cheese is highly recommended.

What can I say?  Today provided us with plenty o' material.

Also, I think I heard a big cacophony on the 2nd keyboard during "What I Did For Love" when Jose finally got his nap in...
(In all seriousness, Jose - and the rest of the orchestra - were pretty phenomenal this evening...God, what I'd give to have them playing for me...)

Well... As long as you didn't notice anything funny during the Intro to "At The Ballet"...   :-X

However, he is currently finishing his degree at American University in Washington, DC.  He's just taking one class each semester, and that class only meets one day a week.  And he takes the Chinatown bus back and forth.

Shonghai.

OK... Well...

I was pretty darn tired when I left the theatre earlier tonight, and I was even more darn tired after my subway ride back uptown.

And after this flurry of a-reading and a-posting and a-laughing...

Goodnight.

My legs are VERY sore.  But I WILL jog tomorrow, not until the afternoon probably, as I'm getting my haircut in the morning - no time to blonde up for this trip, I'm afraid.
