DR Arnold Brockman: Sales are fair. Our house percentage went down by 2% this past week, but we're still playing in the 82% range. Merch sales have gone up since I came on board and have pretty much stayed constant since I've been there. There were a few very rough weeks in April and May, but my sales are pretty consistent from week to week. I think I'm averaging a couple of thousand more per week than they were making a year ago.
And now Patti's singing "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina." LOVE HER.

And each time I go to to the Top of the Rock, I'm still amazed at the views of New York City from up there - during the day and at night.
Otherwise, I remember some spectacular vistas from my one and only bus-and-truck tour. Driving through the Badlands... The country-side in Wyoming... The mountains of New Mexico - especially the view into the valley from Alto, NM.

I was watching a program on PBS tonight about "Anti-Americans." It seems the French have begun openly/actively "hating" America and Americans to the point where school children believe 60% of American children are incapable of correctly learning their ABC's.
A roundtable discussion (it wasn't clear just "who" these Frenchmen represented -- the cultural ministry, for example, or the automobile industry?) centered on the participants' absolute disdain for the Americanism "airbag" becoming commonplace in French culture...in advertising, etc. One suggested a law should be passed forbidding its usage. Another suggested a vociferous advertising campaign "ridiculing" the term (because, he said, the bag fills up with "gas", not "air") and importuning the French public to embrace their "own" term for the airbag:

Here it is (and don't say you weren't warned):

That's right. You are reading it correctly.
By no means should anyone refer to an airbag as an airbag...it must be referred to as a coussin gonflable.
Of course, the entire show was not about the French. It centered on the French mission of bringing to the world -- but most importantly Europe -- fine wine, fine cheese, fine food, and a hatred of Americans. This mission as several French participants confirmed, was to ensure that Americans are viewed with absolute disdain throughout Europe.
Particular attention is being paid to Poland where Americans are near-mythic heroes to the populace. As one Pole put it (succinctly, I might add), "Of course America is our hero. If something bad happens, the French won't come. We know this because they've got that tradition. The English? They care only for themselves. The Americans respond every time. We love the Americans."
(I suggest that everyone consider vacations in Poland).
And whenever, wherever you see a sign, en français, that has the term coussin gonflable, point to it and shout "AIRBAG", and then laugh your ass off!

My personal Fall allergy season has started...had to get up in the middle of the night to take a pill. Itchy puffed eyes, congestion, scratchy throat. Fortunately, the cheapo "Claritin substitute" that I take makes things somewhat bearable.

Thank you DR Jane. My friend Peter in hospital is so much better than when I saw him at the same place this time last year. His major issue at the moment is to make sure his attire does not clash with his yellow eyes!
Peter's home (and partner) is 4 - 5 hours drive away from Melbourne and neither of the guys knows anyone here. I'm only an hour or so away from the hospital so at least I can visit a few times a week. I think he will be there for another three weeks.

I have not been to the reopened Top of the Rock but I was there in the 80s when it was just a viewing platform. You could take the elevator and go up to a 360 view of New York right in the middle of midtown. You didn't need a reservation and it didn't cost and arm and a leg. They closed it down for quite a while. It's now quite popular and I'm sure at some time I will get up there.
Even though you're not on anything high the view at Tower Bridge looking over the Thames is wonderful.
The same goes for the Ha'Penny Bridge (now called the Wellington Bridge) in Dublin

Last Starfighter is shaping up wonderfully. We are almost completely cast, and despite some ups and downs along the way, I am delighted with the cast we now have. I think they will do a wonderful job with the material, and they are all so extremely talented. I was totally flawed by the talents, especially voices, of many of the people we saw throughout the audition process. I wish I could sing like that!

I have little to report today, but I believe the Gilfrys and the two roommates have decided which of the five apartments looked at will be the first choice. I suspect Rodney will be tied up with apartment negotiations today while Carin and Cecilia, one of her roommates, have another day of Juilliard orientation.
I'm off to Toyland, heigh-ho heigh-ho, for some work identifying tunes from a medley of songs for Montgomery & Stone, and then a rehearsal of The Brain Tap and DR Cason's number. I am looking forward to working with Adam on these numbers, and after the rehearsal, he and I will have a conference to settle on hits and questions I have.
You DRs will have to come by Toyland and see the view I have from my office window. Yesterday afternoon, the Gilfrys and I were in Riverside Park at 135th Street, and the view of the Bridge, New Jersey nd Upper Manhattan was quite lovely. I also love so many images of London.

I must say, while I haven't actually liked a Tim Burton film for years and years, I'm interested to see this in a way I certainly wasn't interested in POTO, Rent, The Producers, Dreamgirls, etc. Mr. Burton, whatever one thinks of him, has a style and understands cinema in a way very few working today do.

Because of Starfighter stuff, I was only able to see a few Fringe shows this year. :(
I saw Bukowsical, Williamsburg the Musical, Lost in Hollywoodland, I Dig Dug, The Outside Man, The Winters' Tale Project, and Show Choir.
The thing about the Fringe Festival, in particular, is that there are over 200 shows accepted into the Festival, and you have to parse through a lot of awful things to find the real gems. Sometimes you see something and just have to wonder how it was accepted into a Festival in the first place. How someone would want to produce it. How someone would think it was worth putting money into. How someone decides what to do with such a large empty space for an hour when the entire audience clears out at intermission. Does the cast continue to play to an empty room?
I really enjoyed Show Choir a lot. A great score, a fabulous cast, lots of parody thrown in, but never too much, never over the top. And great costumes!
I'm also really glad that I saw Bukowsical, although I unfortunately did not get to see a performance that Cason was in. I really wanted to! But it was the only performance I could attend. I bet you were just fabulous when you went on, though. I thought the role of the lawyer was the funniest and most clever part. The whole cast was wonderful. I was there the night DR elmore went, and I very much wanted to stay after with him and say hello to you, Cason, but the show had started late and I needed to make a mad dash to make the next curtain --
Found many things to like, too, in Williamsburg, in The Winter's Tale Project, and in I Dig Dug. And missed a number of shows that I heard very good things about. - Hopefully, they will return again for another run sometime soon.

You are quite right Miss Laura. I, unfortunately, have no pictures of my time at the Grand Canyon because some yahoo photo developing company lost the film. I was there in 1990. We stayed in a lodge at the edge of the canyon. I have mixed memories of the time because it was a difficult time in my life but I do remember, in spite of my paralyzing fear of heights, that the view was astounding.

My favorite NYC view had to be a friend's sister's apartment up around Columbia Presbyterian. Twenty stories up with a view of the George Washington Bridge to the west and the skyline to the south. Then about ten years ago, towers went up on both sides that obstructed both views!
A friend here in Philly has a wonderful view of the park in Rittenhouse Square and the Philadelphia skyline.
The livingroom window of my sister's home in Fairfax, CA, looked up to a hill that was dotted with gorgeous homes. And her kitchen window overlooked a stream that, though it was dry most of the times that I saw it, was a haven for all kinds of wildlife when flowing.

My favourite view is from Waterloo Bridge at night in either direction...one way it's views of the Thames, Houses of Parliament, Charring Cross Station, etc....the other way the Thames, the National Theatre, St. Paul's...
From my folks' home in Northern Kentucky, we have a great view of the Ohio River and downtown Cincinnati. Lovely at any time, but particularly at night.

That SWEENEY TODD ad is VERY effective, I think. I'm sure Tim Burton will capture the mood and tone of the piece. My only concern is if the actors he has cast can handle the singing if they haven't been dubbed. (And publicity insists they aren't going to be dubbed.) If they can sing the score, one of the true masterpieces of the American musical theater, it should be a sensational film.
But I don't think it will make a dime. (What's the budget anyway?)

Good question. I think he did speak shortly after casting was announced, and as I recall he was positive about it.
But at the time he said positive things about Elizabeth Taylor's "singing" of "Send in the Clowns," too.

YES, YES, YES! Orange Julius used to be quite common in California. But milk? The ones I had were mixed with some white powder (hum...)--did that have milk in it? Sometimes a rag egg is added. Many years ago my standard blender brekkie was fresh-squeezed OJ with a raw egg. Doesn't appeal to me now, but it gave me lots of energy then.

I agree I think her comments have been mostly due to ignorance and not malice. But I do think that since she made those comments her popularity has been down to like 0.5% or something. I can't remember if she has been on eric's eviction card (i don't think so since she was taken off the block). But she was the choice to get nominated this week and last week.

I have to say that this statistic would not surprise me. I used to be astounded when I'd get good students who didn't have a clue about general world geography. And for average and poor students, they could not seem to differentiate between a city name, a state name, or a country name. I might ask "What is the capital city of France?" and someone would answer "Spain."
Even though I was an English teacher, I kept pull down maps all over my classroom, and we NEVER read a story that had a specific setting that I didn't pull down a map and talk about where things were happening.

I don't tthink tori spelling and jennie garth would both me on. I believe i had heard that jennie wanted to be on. I also heard wayne newton.

It's by Natra-Bio, it's called simply SINUS, and it's available at many health food stores for $8 or $9. It's a homeopathic product, so there are virtually no side-effects. (I had to stop taking both the prescription and nonprescription allergy drugs due to the side-effects, so I was thrilled to find this and have so much help from it.) Highly recommended.

I have to say that this statistic would not surprise me. I used to be astounded when I'd get good students who didn't have a clue about general world geography. And for average and poor students, they could not seem to differentiate between a city name, a state name, or a country name. I might ask "What is the capital city of France?" and someone would answer "Spain."
Even though I was an English teacher, I kept pull down maps all over my classroom, and we NEVER read a story that had a specific setting that I didn't pull down a map and talk about where things were happening.
Good for you, Matt! I always applaud news stories that provide a map. Geography hasn't gotten much attention in education in quite some time that I'm aware of.

My friend the art collector lives at the top of the Hollywood Hills and has what is truly a million-dollar view of much of Hollywood. He's a view-lover and can also afford it. I cannot; I must be more pragmatic when it comes to housing. I've always liked to live near a body of water and that has played a role in the places I choose to live. I CAN afford that!

No i have never had one. But there is something here called Orange Julep (which i'm pretty sure is the same thing). And let me tell you it is absolutely delicious. It is orangy and frothy and so good. There is a big orange hut here that sells them. And while i do not go that often. It is one of my favorite things. You can even buy a lesser quality version at the grocery store!

I agree I think her comments have been mostly due to ignorance and not malice. But I do think that since she made those comments her popularity has been down to like 0.5% or something. I can't remember if she has been on eric's eviction card (i don't think so since she was taken off the block). But she was the choice to get nominated this week and last week.
I think that's most likely due to her selling of her soul to Danielle, offering up all those incentives for being taken off the block...and selling Jameka down the river after saying she wouldn't.

I start school tomorrow and am procrastinating today. Nowhere near ready. As I wasn't planning on going back to teaching music, all my "stuff" is just thrown into a closet. Not to mention things I may have thrown away. I'm going back there because it's where my benefits are, not because I want to be in the classroom. RE: Orange Julius - I remember having one after my piano/keyboard lessons in the mall in Seattle. Took lessons at the Yamaha store there, and the Orange Julius stand was right across the way, along with an ice cream stand. -The ice cream stand had some "interesting" flavors back then - I was only nine - such as "bubble gum" (which had real pieces of bubble gum in it), and "black licorice" (boy, would that make your mouth a most unpleasant color).
There was - and perhaps still is - and Orange Julius stand in Tyson Corner Center in Fairfax, VA. When I was in high school, that was where I got my OJ fix. And, actually, when I was in Atlanta for SETCs back in March, I had an Organge Julius at the food court near the hotel.
And, yes, it's orange juice and milk (product/powder). Just think of it as slushy orange sherbet. *Heck, the Farmer's Lemonade I had last week was lemonade mixed with yogurt. It worked for me.

The actual Orange Julius, as made by Orange Julius (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Julius) (now owned by Dairy Queen) doesn't have milk in it. It contains orange juice, ice, powdered sugar and dairy creamer. Yes, I've had it, and it ain't bad, but they charged more than I normally want to pay for something I usually finish in a few hearty slurps.

Apparently they let the houseguests watch tonight's POWER of 10 episode with dani and amber. They weren't allowed to talk about what they saw. But apparently daniele was crying afterwards. People are speculating that she saw that nick was on the show (to be her helper). But that she didn't know it (they are guessing she didn't advance).
So speculation is that amber maybe won something.

I personally think it was because of her comments and not because of any deal with daniele, or because of the way they depict her as dumb. Although it could very well be a combination. However, i saw her numbers go to 0.5% the day after her story broke on the news (which is why i attributed her lack of popularity to her comments).

I think the only thing the UC did was just sitting in the stall. The Senator was caught as part of crackdown on lewd conduct at the airport. The Senator was not a specific target in the operation. Maybe the Senator had had some "luck" there on a previous visit, and this time, his intended pick-up happened to be an UC.
Again, "innocent until proven guilty" - and we have yet to hear the Senator's full story - but judging from the police report, it seems that the Senator was being a bit persistent. And if he did indeed block the front part of his stall with his bags, as well as put foot in the area of the stall next to him, well...
Of course, there were probably other people arrested in this operation, but since Mr. Craig happens to be a Senator, well...
*And when the police bust online pedophiles, the "child" is doing nothing either to encourage the predator except for posing as a child.

My hunch is that Senator Craig would be horrified if anyone suggested that he is gay. And, in a strange way, I think it is understandable - I don't think he recognizes this part of himself as anything more than "urges" or some other euphemism. He probably dearly loves his wife and family, and every time an anti-gay bill comes up never once connects what those urges mean with what the bills are condemning.
Of course, now everyone is going to condemn him just as much as he's condemned gay people in the past. Karma, baby.
Only, this entire incident still ends up tarring gay people as sexual perverts who haunt bathrooms. The undercover cop is going to feel justified in what he's done, will probably be congratulated by his fellow officers and superiors, and will sally forth and repeat what he's done - why wouldn't he, when what he did has been encouraged and rewarded?
The cold reality is that neither the Senator nor the Cop have anything to do with those of us who self-identify as gay. Neither of them would recognize who we are, other than within the narrow bounds in which they have experienced homosexuality.

Re lovely views, I don't get to travel much, but all my favorite views are off the coasts of New Hampshire and Maine.Re reality shows, because my job, when I was on eves(3p-11p)sometimes involved going from room to room giving breathing treatments, which meant over the years I have been exposed to Phil, Maurey, Jerry, all the judge shows, and now the reality shows and Idol types contests. I view it as an occupational hazard, like black lung for coal miners or asbestos exposure.C'est la Vie.

Reading more posts, I don't understand why all the Talk about Sen Craig. He obviously got nabbed in a tea room, and should have retired from public life long ago. Back when this happend to LBJ aide Walter Jenkins, LBJ was afraid that Goldwater(who didn't give a rat's patoot who was or wasn't) might use that in the upcoming '64 campaign. He sent word to Barry, that thanks to J.Edgar, he(LBJ)knew everyone on Barry's team who was that way. The go between who delivered that message? LbJ aide Bill Moyers. One more reason to skip PBS and stick to FRAZIER re-runs.

I began my afternoon of viewing by rewatching last night's episode of THE CLOSER. It was so much fun watching Brenda run rings around Homeland Security that I just had to see it again.
And thanks for the little spoiler about the coroner, DR Edi. Will we be seeing him flirt any more?

Next, I watched a new Disney made-for-video animated film ENCHANTED TALES: FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.
It takes two of the princesses, Aurora and Jasmine, and gives them each about 25 minutes of story and song. Neither story is particularly memorable, but Lea Salonga gets to sing Jasmine's two new songs in her part of the feature. Her voice is as good and strong as ever.

Re: Larry Craig. Does anyone know if he's Mormon? I'm assuming he is, being from Idaho and all. Having grown up in SLC, I can tell you the Mormons are the most peculiarly homophobic yet rampantly gay population I've ever come into contact with (so to speak). ;D
The most vociferous homophobes are the ones most likely to possess those traits they've been trained to hate.
Folks who accept who they are are much more comfortable with other people's differences than folks who are obsessed with hiding who they are.

There were also two simple little games that I played on the DVD, and there was a sneak peak at the next made-for-video feature featuring Belle singing a song that was better than any of the ones in the feature presentation - "You'll Never Lose This Love." Sounds like they got Angela Lansbury back to play Mrs. Potts, too.

I ended my afternoon watching BEHIND THAT CURTAIN, the first Fox film that featured Charlie Chan. Truth to tell it's not a mystery and Chan's only on screen in the last few minutes.
It's a lousy movie, the dreariest kind of melodrama with a heroine whose voice quavers with every line since her "honor" is at stake. Being such an early talky, everyone (except star Warner Baxter) speaks very slowly and distinctly for the microphone which makes a movie that should have run 70 minutes into a 90 minute film (and it seems even longer than that).
Lo and behold, there's Boris Karloff acting the part of a servant in the second half of the film. His voice, of course, records beautifully.

It's a gorgeous day here in Oakland, but it's a tad on the warm side.
Temperature is currently F 80 degrees, but it feels like F 81 degreees ( I kid you not, that is what the Yahoo weather page says for Oakland right now).

Oh, before I forget. The BBC did a wonderful SWEENEY TODD dramatic production about a year ago. Did any H/Ks see that? I loved it.

I really like that one, too. It's bloody as hell. And damned bloody good.
The production values are incredible as is the conformity to the time period. Mrs. Lovett's affliction is heart-breaking. I hve the dvd around here somewhere.

Hmm... I actually just realized that I haven't had anything to eat today. Well... Except for two or three Freddo Frogs. ;) Hmm... Although, I'm not feeling hungry right now. Hmm...
In any case, I want to get out of the apartment for a bit and walk around. I think that will help ease this damn mosquito bite. I was Googling earlier to see if there was anything I should be concerned about, and I came across some other instances where someone got bit right where I did - just above the back of the knee - and, apparently, since that's a "low" blood flow area, sometimes mosquito bites to that area can take a while to dissipate. Consequently, they have a tendency to welt up a little more than normal. Again, it doesn't itch, it's just a matter of me always feeling it there. However, if it's still a bit welty tomorrow, I'm probably head to the doctor just to be safe.

Last night the TNT show SAVING GRACE premiered in Canada.
I like holly hunter and think she is probably quite good in this part. But what an odd show! The JOAN OF ARCADIA part was quite interesting. I don't usually like police dramas that much. And i don't know if i would watch this show if it was not in the summer.
But it actually did hold my interest.
I know others have said that they did not care about any of the characters. And i'm not saying i really did.
But i did think the stuff with holly hunter and the rich guy to be quite funny.
And i really like the woman medical examiner who plays her best friend.
So is the pilot any indication of how the other episodes are?
I found the ending (not the reveal) but the part about the boy's mother to also be quite odd/out there (for tv).

he thing about the Fringe Festival, in particular, is that there are over 200 shows accepted into the Festival, and you have to parse through a lot of awful things to find the real gems. Sometimes you see something and just have to wonder how it was accepted into a Festival in the first place. How someone would want to produce it. How someone would think it was worth putting money into.
The same holds true for most mid-level film festivals. And with the awards as well. Frequently, what wins the Audience Prize are the locally made films, which can bring in a large audience who will all give it 5 stars. The other awards are usually given by a qualified jury, but it can still turn into a popularity contest sometimes.

I stayed up and watched about an hour and a half of it (about 2:30 am to 4:00 am PDT)! When I went outside, there was about a quarter of the moon still shining brightly. When I finally went inside, the moon was still in darkness, but just starting to get a little lighter. I was just too cold and too tired to see it completely re-revealed. Anyway, here are several very blurry pictures that I took. I also tried to record a video clip with my camera, but I can't post that. Here are the pictures:

I feel bad for Miss South Carolina. How sad to be under a great deal of pressure, give a dumb answer, and have it reported over and over again on the news just to be laughed at.
On of my clients pulled up a clip of her on the Today show, and she acquitted herself pretty well, and was willing to laugh at how dumb she looked. I was glad she did that, and was able to show that she can be somewhat articulate.

The girl who is moving into our house has decided to move things in early so she can go on vacation over the holiday weekend. She said that her stuff would only take up half the room we cleared out for her. Now it's turning into a different story and her stuff is all over the house---food in the cabinets, etc. so it's going to be harder to clean around her stuff when we move on the 8th. Plus she has cats that go outdoors, which equals fleas, which have never been a problem with our indoor cats. One is very allergic to fleas and gets all scabby just from one flea. I'm thinking about bombing the room that has most of the stuff she left...just in case. Hmmmm...
And we loaned her our inflatable bed, since her bed is now at our house. Oy...please don't let fleas enter our life!! I hate them worse than mosquitoes!

I must say we had one of our few really bad Twilight Zone moments trying to get out of Oakland--we kept asking people for directions to the Bay Bridge and everyone was absolutely clueless. We drove around downtown for probably 20 minutes (even asked a meter maid, who just shrugged, we couldn't believe it) until I finally found a policeman who was able to direct us correctly. It was not one of my calmer driving moments. ;D

And of course, then there's the possibility that this stuff with all the cat smells associated with it, will either stress out our cats even more than they are now, or they will spray. Ack!

No-flea vibes for DR Edisaurus! When we were between houses we put a lot of extra furniture in a storage unit, including the pieces that furnished our family room when we moved in here. We didn't know the cushions had picked up fleas until our little Robbie (he hates when I call him that) woke from napping on the couch. He was all broken out and our doctor diagnosed :P fleas. We were mortified and had to bomb the room. We got rid of that furniture just as soon as we could afford new.

His was the first American version, on the 1974 Bell release "Vintage '74," with an incredible, over-the-top Dave Grusin orchestration and vocals by Bonnie Bowden and Mrs. Mendes, Gracinha Leporace. Have you tried spraying it with extra strength Benadryl or using a cortisone ointment? I had a nasty bite I sprayed the heck out of and now it is much better. Mine did itch.

LOL--by about the 3rd or 4th clueless twit we asked, I was mildly irate, to say the least. Plus there was a ton of construction downtown with closed streets everywhere which made it all the more confounding. To top it off, the cop told us to get over to Castro Street and we were almost there, and there had just been a bad bus/car accident so they were closing off that block and we had to figure out another way to get over. It was like a nightmare there for about 45 minutes. Luckily we left waaaay early that morning, but we ended up getting into SF basically just in time to catch the ferry to Alcatraz, which was a highlight of our trip.

Tomovoz--you might want to check out Lani Hall's version of Aguas--on her Windham Hill release, Brasil Nativo. Completely reharmonized and quite slow, it's interesting. Not my favorite version (or favorite Lani), but worth a listen for something different.

Laura San Giacomo, the medical examiner, is the only one I liked in the show.

LOL--by about the 3rd or 4th clueless twit we asked, I was mildly irate, to say the least. Plus there was a ton of construction downtown with closed streets everywhere which made it all the more confounding. To top it off, the cop told us to get over to Castro Street and we were almost there, and there had just been a bad bus/car accident so they were closing off that block and we had to figure out another way to get over. It was like a nightmare there for about 45 minutes. Luckily we left waaaay early that morning, but we ended up getting into SF basically just in time to catch the ferry to Alcatraz, which was a highlight of our trip.

The girl who is moving into our house has decided to move things in early so she can go on vacation over the holiday weekend. She said that her stuff would only take up half the room we cleared out for her. Now it's turning into a different story and her stuff is all over the house---food in the cabinets, etc. so it's going to be harder to clean around her stuff when we move on the 8th. Plus she has cats that go outdoors, which equals fleas, which have never been a problem with our indoor cats. One is very allergic to fleas and gets all scabby just from one flea. I'm thinking about bombing the room that has most of the stuff she left...just in case. Hmmmm...
Wait, she is going to leave an outdoor cats at a new location without having lived there for awhile? She should board the cat as there is an excellent chance they will be gone when she returns.
I would also tell her you can't clean behind you since she is leaving far more "stuff" than stated.
Not a bad idea to check out if bombing for fleas first will help.
Please, please warn her about the dangers of outdoor cats when moving. They should be kept inside for several weeks until they feel they are home.
And we loaned her our inflatable bed, since her bed is now at our house. Oy...please don't let fleas enter our life!! I hate them worse than mosquitoes!

Yogi seems a smidgen better today. He still is far from well. He won’t eat his regular food but turkey & rice was very acceptable.
His back is sensitive & he still has a fever & is lethargic. He doesn’t want to sleep on the bed with them & is staying off by himself. I expect he is sensitive to touch, as well all are when we ache due to a fever.
I asked if the vet had anything to say regarding the kennel & she didn’t. I expect if she had seen negligence from there in the past she would have said anything.
Td, do you know of any good kennels or dog trainers in the area? Now that Craig has a car he can drive to a kennel & isn’t tied to the one near his house.

DR Laura, my boys went to classes on a week night when they were studying for their Bar Mitzvahs.
When I went to Sunday school I had friends who went on Saturdays instead. In fact, I begged my parents to let me switch to Saturdays so I could go with my friends as the non-friends in my Sunday class were mean to me. My parents wouldn't let me switch & sadly I finally stopped going. I had wanted very much to be confirmed. It was bad enough dealing with the social difficulties of regular school, Sunday school was more than I needed to cope with.

Apparently they let the houseguests watch tonight's POWER of 10 episode with dani and amber. They weren't allowed to talk about what they saw. But apparently daniele was crying afterwards. People are speculating that she saw that nick was on the show (to be her helper). But that she didn't know it (they are guessing she didn't advance).
So speculation is that amber maybe won something.
Btw, re: DR RonP's comments about why america dislikes amber. I personally think it was because of her comments and not because of any deal with daniele, or because of the way they depict her as dumb. Although it could very well be a combination. However, i saw her numbers go to 0.5% the day after her story broke on the news (which is why i attributed her lack of popularity to her comments).

I think the only thing the UC did was just sitting in the stall. The Senator was caught as part of crackdown on lewd conduct at the airport. The Senator was not a specific target in the operation. Maybe the Senator had had some "luck" there on a previous visit, and this time, his intended pick-up happened to be an UC.
Again, "innocent until proven guilty" - and we have yet to hear the Senator's full story - but judging from the police report, it seems that the Senator was being a bit persistent. And if he did indeed block the front part of his stall with his bags, as well as put foot in the area of the stall next to him, well...
Of course, there were probably other people arrested in this operation, but since Mr. Craig happens to be a Senator, well...

I went ahead and went for a nice walk, and grabbed some dinner along the way. I stopped by my favorite soul food buffet place - I noticed they had just put out fresh trays of food for the dinner rush. A little of bit of this, a little bit of that. All of it very good.
And it's a gorgeous night here in NYC too. Perfect for a nice, long walk through west Harlem. The rain held off, but the clouds help to cool things down a bit too.

Have you tried spraying it with extra strength Benadryl or using a cortisone ointment? I had a nasty bite I sprayed the heck out of and now it is much better. Mine did itch.
Well, after my walk, it does feel better. Again, it still does not itch. It's just welty. I put some Aveeno with Calamine on it earlier in the day, and after my shower, I put some Tea Tree Oil ointment on it. And I went ahead and took an antihistamine after I got back from my walk.

I can't remember all of them, but I'm pretty sure the first idiot (the desk clerk at the Jack London) had us go up Main (isn't that just down a couple of blocks from Jack London Square). We were supposed to go to a gas station on 5th, IIRC, then get on the freeway (according to her) on 12th. Well, two of the one way streets going towards 5th were blocked off (looked like street resurfacing) and the 3rd and 4th ones we tried didn't go through all of the way because of the freeway. And once we got up to 12th, there was no freeway entrance there.

Our household has been immersed in Sacco & Vanzetti tonight, which we watched while eating pizza and drinking red wine. It's such a well-crafted telling of the story. The reference librarian in me loved the bibliography at the end and the nonprofit fundraising geek loved Peter's description of that production aspect.

It's been a couple of hours and she's not having seizures yet.
Of course when BeeGee got the D-Con the week we brought him home, it didn't phase him in the least. The vet gave him enough morphine to put a horse to sleep for a week (the vet's words) and BeeGee was friskily jumping to and fro, though with a somewhat crazed look in his eye. ;D

It's funny but the people on televisionwithoutpity had things pegged right. Amber had talked about her cousin. And it turns out she did beat daniele.
Also, last night they showed the HGs the show and after daniele was crying. And people figured she must have been upset because she saw nick and realized she had not seen him.
I don't love amber by any means. But i was sad that she just missed out on getting the money. That would have been nice for her daughter.
Plus i wish the BB people had been on longer!

We watched last night and found it very intriguing. Interesting was while I was completely convinced, at least regarding Vanzetti & partially regarding Sacco, they were innocent of the crime, there was the fact they were not completely innocent. It is a reminder to be careful who you involve yourself with.
Ioana works very hard volunteering for animal groups. When she arrived from Romania I warned her to stay away from certain ones as there are segments of them I don’t trust to be non-violent or completely legal in their actions.
I liked how it ended with art, music and then Arlo singing his father’s song.

Today was an amazing day. First, we did an interview in which I had to sing three songs. Why me, you wonder? Why not someone...competent? One of the reasons is that a certain union won't allow its membership to sing on certain kinds of interviews. So helpful - huh?
Then, chez moi, my director and musical director and I started going over the score at 2. We finished at 9:30 having never stopped for a break. Seven and a half hours refining intros, accompaniment feels, scene change music, harmonies, extended endings, cues. And, of course, we didn't finish.
To some, this process sounds like hell. To me, it's a dream. To examine, measure by measure, what I've composed and why I've written in that way, with an eye towards making it better: I can think of no better way to spend an uninterrupted seven-and-a-half hours.

Next up, I watched the Blu-ray disc of PREMONITION which I've been eager to see but had all those box TV sets to get through.
The premise is great, and I liked all the actors (nice to see Kate Nelligan in a nice role).
Somewhere about 2/3 of the way through, I was kind of shouting at the screen since I would have handled things SO differently if the phenomenon was happening to me.

I completed my evening of viewing by rewatching THE PIRATE. I knew I wouldn't have time to watch a film I hadn't seen before, so I chose a favorite that I could end without remorse today and pick back up with tomorrow.

The standard def looked very good in close-ups and more than acceptable the rest of the time, but I could clearly see I wasn't watching high definition.

I finally got to see last night's Closer. I really like the show. So, I put in on my Netflix and the first CD arrived today - along with The History Boys

Well, no...they seem to like to tie everything up at the end of a season. I like that.

As a gay man, I've done the EXACT same thing to begin a conversation with a man I was attracted to (not a straight man, however.) So I found it VERY obvious.
The first time I saw this coroner, I thought he might be gay. When we got the episode from last night, I laughed when he seemed so friendly to Gabriel, since he's always so bitchy to Brenda. My two male producers hadn't picked up on his orientation at all.
We get to see a lot more of the coroner in the next episode. I do miss Avery, as coroner, though. I liked the interplay between him and Brenda---it seemed very real. And I also liked the one episode with Terrence and the Asian woman coroner...she was a very funny character.

Done moving furniture around for the night. No evidence of fleas so far, but the firniture has a weird smell---reminiscent of curry. MBarnum would probably feel right at home!

Back from Skip's show, about which more in the notes, which I must now write. Got home a little over an hour ago, and had to deal with some group sales crap for our fundraiser, so I'm just starting to write the notes now and I'm way too tired and ill-tempered right now so I'm sure they'll be short and as sweet as I can make them.

Td, do you know of any good kennels or dog trainers in the area? Now that Craig has a car he can drive to a kennel & isn’t tied to the one near his house.
Glad to hear that Yogi is doing better; I'll get back to you on the kennels/trainers once I talk to a few friends with dogs. . .
