Well, you've read the notes, the notes noodled and were cold, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating cold sesame moodles.

And the word of the day is: POLYPHAGIA! That's what I'M talkin' about.

And now - Dino at the piano.

I am now in a Ny-Quil stupor.

Did you know, for example, that stupor spelled backwards is roputs?

Most of the critics who have seen the pilots and pitch reels for the new season have pretty much proclaimed VIVA LAUGHLIN as the first likely show to get canceled.

I am going to take some Promethazine with Codeine. It's the greatest and whenever I have a cold I ask my doctor for a prescription for it. It's that purple cough syrup I used to get when I was a kid.
-
Jay Leno is really funny tonight.
-
Sunday is the cast’s day off, but not one for me, as we are going into the theater to do as much moving in and tech-related stuff as we can.
What? You're allowed in your theatre in before the day you open? We're not allowed in ours until Friday, September 28! And we're not even allowed to try to contact that the theatre; we must go through NYMF, and if we don't we're heavily fined.
I don't know how you were able to get around these bold type rules, or perhaps you signed a completely different contract. But, more power to you. It will make for a better Brain, so go for it.

On Jewison:
I, too, am not fond of MOONSTRUCK - except for Tony Azito's contribution.
I still haven't caught up with IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT; I held a grudge because THE GRADUATE didn't win the Oscar that year - and yes, I as an eleven year old, saw and loved THE GRADUATE.
I may be in a minority, but, I really like Jewison's two musical films of FIDDLER and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.
Adore THE CINCINNATI KID and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR.
In my dvd player: 40th Anniversary Edition: THE GRADUATE. (Seriously).
Even more seriously, and with all the love and respect I can muster:

The thing is... Journeyman is Quantum Leap! With just a few cosmetic changes... Or is it going to be....what's the name of the show where a newspaper would show up every day telling the hero who he'd have to rescue/events he'd have to change that day in order to change the future?

Good morning, all! The Brain surgery continues on the Upper West Side. Around 11, I shall run down to Lincoln Center for some good times at NYPL. Then, back for more work on The Brain, which will be occupying most of my time through Sunday.
I had a strange dream last night: I was on a NYC bus coming from an airport or something outside Manhattan, and I had to keep asking the bus driver where this bus stopped because i had no idea where the hell it was taking me. Then I was sitting at this table writing notes on paper, and on my left was a young lady - it might have been our DR Adrianna Patti or our stage manager Rachel - and to my right sat my Dear Friend BK, who kept looking at the page and commenting on it. Then I turned to him and said something like, "I think your next show should be a comic opera with everyone in masks and there could be a gondola scene." Then I woke up before BK could react.

This is from John Simon's new review of Sir Ian McKellan's Lear:
As for Lear (and this, surely, is more McKellen than Nunn), although he is supposed to be "every inch a king,'' he gives us several inches of frontal nudity that neither Shakespeare nor we bargained for, though they may work as a form of self- advertisement.

I adore MOONSTRUCK. I love the characters, the acting, the language, the comedy, the messy passions--I just get swept up every time I see it. It's definitely one of my top ten favorite movies of all time, possibly one of my top five.

But Noel, on the other hand, you got the creme de la creme, top of the monde, supercalifragilistic, most coveted "advantage" there possibly is in the world of NYMF, and that's being in the main Press conference. Noel, you seem to be much more in the NYMF loop than I, but I think what you'll find is that each venue is different, that NYMF rules change (see Roller Derby), but the reality is our venue is different than yours, and, most importantly, there are no other shows playing, which is not the case once NYMF begins on Tuesday. The window guys arrived, with perfect timing, just as I was clearing the area around the last of the 4 picture windows. They are NOT thrilled that 3 of the 4 are double-paned, the old-fashioned kind set in with wood screws. We, of course, want the inside of the outer pane and the outside of the inner pane cleaned and they're having quite a time with them.
In the meantime, I decided to take down the drapes in our bedroom and put them in the dryer on "air fluff." They're so old, they probably wouldn't survive a dry-cleaning, even if I had time to have that done. Hope I don't end up having to make what Harriet would call a "flying trip" to J. C. Penney for new ones!
-
'Fess up, DR Miss Karen! ;)
from TMZ.com...
LAPD Hollywood Division is currently on scene at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, where they were called on a report of stolen clothes -- from Broadway legend Carol Channing.
According to Carol's rep, the 86-year-old Channing arrived at the hotel with her husband Harry Kullijian between 12:30 and 1:00 PM, carrying several pieces of luggage. As they were checking in, a thief made off with one of their bags that contained some a very important -- and historic-- property!
Carol's rep tells TMZ that inside the suitcase, a small black roller bag, was the sparkling "diamond dress" that Channing famously wore as Lorelei Lee over 700 times in the stage production of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." There may come a time when a lass needs a lawyer!
The valuable garment, which originally had long sleeves, was scheduled to be photographed and then sent to the Smithsonian to be exhibited. Luckily, her 1964 Tony award for "Hello Dolly," which she is also donating to the museum, was in another bag.
She's currently rehearsing for a performance this weekend at the Hollywood Bowl. When asked how Carol was doing, he said, "Carol refuses to focus on the negative. It affects her work."
The hotel surveillance camera has a shot of a person of interest -- which has been given to police.

I spent all afternoon watching four episodes of BROTHERS & SISTERS. I haven't gotten to it yet, but it looks like the original pilot episode with Betty Buckley (in the role now played by Saly Field) is included in the set. That will be something to see.
-
The first four episodes have been deeply moving, and the series is touching me deeply just like it did when I saw these episodes the first time. I am really going to enjoy revisiting these shows again over the next few days.
-
Episode #3 had a running commentary with show creator Jon Robin Baitz, Craig Wright, Patricia Wettig, and Matthew Rhys.
Of course, I knew Matthew Rhys was British (Welsh actually), but I had no idea that in donning an American accent for the role, his voice also lowers in register. To hear him talking in his own voice during the commentary was very strange. It was a very lively and interesting discussion among the four of them.
-
Next, I scanned through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Yes, the gay storyline was present (looks to be in Monday's show, too). Noah admitted his Luke attraction to Maddie and they broke up. Of course, the father isn't done poking his nose into their business. Looks like the colonel and Luke's mother are also going to have a confrontation on Monday.
-
And luck was with me: the rain held off several hours. It's raining nicely now and sprinkled earlier, but I was already home safe and dry before it started.

And they are...??
His reasoning (http://www.pass.to/newsletter/a_talk_with_norman_jewison.htm) ... IT is easily findable via Google (click on "reasoning").
But to save you the short time it took me to look up your question:
What did you make of Zero Mostel's performance in the Broadway production?
I thought he was too American, and on film he never had the power he did in the theatre. I thought he was too fake, he was over the top in every film he did, and I didn't buy him. So I couldn't cast him, and I stuck by my decision and everybody hated me for it. But time, I think, has proven the film works.
I, too, agree with him, especially if his performance at the Tonys way back when of "If I Were A Rich Man" is any indication of what he would have been like on film.
-
I have a bit of writing to do and then I'll be heading back down to continue with BROTHERS & SISTERS which I'll probably watch the remainder of the evening while recording MONK and PSYCH.
If I do decide that I need a change of pace from the DVDs, I'll watch last night's BURN NOTICE.

He also said that a New Jersey Jewish person (Mostel) had a different sound, a different persona from a European Jewish person, and after seeing Teyve played by Topol in London, that was the persona he wanted for the film.

Four DRs in The Room b----ing?
Where is William Finn when you need him?

I think we're going to stay in tonight with movies and leftover Chinese. Alas, no cold sesame noodles.

DR JMK, I neglected to congratulate your synagogue on that wondrous anonymous gift. It will be wonderful, and I hope that a portion of the funds are used to procure an instrument that is worthy of your talents!

Were ripe bandanas too expensive?

An organ? ::)

Boy, the puns and entrendres are flying every which way today...I love it! :)

Boy, the puns and entrendres are flying every which way today...I love it! :)
What? I didn't say a big organ.
-
I was never a fan of the flying pun. (nor of Sally)
Would a flying pun be "every witch way"?
-
Four DRs in The Room b----ing?
Where is William Finn when you need him?
"March of The False Echoes" the new musical starring Kevin Bacon.

I was never a fan of the flying pun. (nor of Sally)
You dislike her? You really, really dislike her? ;)
-
Ou est DR François of the bilingual puns?
-
You dislike her? You really, really dislike her? ;)
YES.
I'd rather have a box of chocolates.
-
Or steal her magnolias.
-
Hmmm...you know, that should have been Bombay Bazaar, not Bombay Bizarre...although, I guess it could have been...stop laughing Elmore.
-
mmm Chocolates and Flowers. FJL? Miss Karen?

MWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!

I think they have an assignation planned in NYC at the end of the month.
Sssh! Don't tell...
-
Hi, MBarnum. How are you feeling?
-
I assumed you were correct DR Barnum. Cute title for the shop I thought.
-
"March of The False Echoes" the new musical starring Kevin Bacon.
I hear Kevin's bacon is worthy of a starring role. ::)

I expected DR Elmore to weigh in with the Kurta comment.

Hey, don't let the word out, but I just got offered two-for-one tickets to WALMARTOPIA.

Hmmm...you know, that should have been Bombay Bazaar, not Bombay Bizarre...although, I guess it could have been...stop laughing Elmore.
Wherever you are, it's bizarre, if not surreal. I bet you would spell boarder "border," too! :-*
-
I expected DR Elmore to weigh in with the Kurta comment.
He even sent me a photo of himself wearing the damned thing!
He could have at least signed it.
No crayons, huh?

Hey, don't let the word out, but I just got offered two-for-one tickets to WALMARTOPIA.
I know the assistant MD.
-
Good Evening!
Well... All I can say is that I'm looking forward to tomorrow's choreography rehearsal for Mary Poppins. We're going to start teaching the kids "Step In Time", and that's probably what we'll be doing for most of the four hours. Today, we finished blocking - on stage - the rest of Act One. Right now, my mind is filled with so much "information" - cues, tempos, etc. Tomorrow's slower-paced rehearsal will be quite welcome.
I knew that learning this show would be quite the undertaking, but I really had no idea it would be so tiring and taxing (to me, at least). I felt better about myself and my playing today, but there's still just "something" that doesn't "live" in my head and fingers yet with show. And, of course, all that self-doubt and self-criticism isn't helping my energy levels either. In any case...
-
I know the assistant MD.
So do I. ;)
-
In any case.. - as I was about to say...
I have a quasi-first-date tonight... And we're going to my favorite Italian restaurant - which he happened to pick out before we had even discussed dinner options. That's a good start. *And I say "quasi-first-date" since there will be four of us at the table, so it will be more of a gathering than a date. But still, it will be nice to have some "social time" tonight. :)
-
DEVELOPING STORY ON CNN.COM:
AP: Police say O.J. Simpson is a suspect in a break-in at a casino hotel room involving sports memorabilia.
That O.J! He just careens from one escapade to another!
Maybe he was really looking for Carol Channing's dress
-
DR ArnoldMBrockman - Glad you liked Simone Dinnerstein's "Goldberg Variations". -Eventually, I'm gonna have to listen to them back to back with one or both of Glenn Gould's recordings, and maybe even Andras Schiff. *And I still wish they would release Andras Schiff's recording of the Ginastera First Piano Sonata. It was sort of flukey recording when it first came out - and I believe it was on LP with his recording of the "Goldbergs", so... He is just so not known for that type of repertoire lately. *And I still want Ashkenazy's "Pictures at an Exhibition" too - which is probably on CD, but I haven't come across it yet.
-
OK - The dinner reservation is for 7:30...
Laters...

Jose, these Mary Poppin kids, are they replacements, understudies, or what?

A very successful businessman had a meeting with his new
son-in-law. "I love my daughter, and now I welcome you
into the family," said the man. "To show you how much
we care for you, I'm making you a 50-50 partner in my
business. All you have to do is go to the factory every
day and learn the operations."
The son-in-law interrupted, "I hate factories. I can't
stand the noise."
"I see," replied the father-in-law. "Well, then you'll
work in the office and take charge of some of the
operations."
"I hate office work," said the son-on-law. "I can't stand
being stuck behind a desk all day."
"Wait a minute," said the father-in-law. "I just make you
half-owner of a moneymaking organization, but you don't
like factories and won't work in a office. What am I
going to do with you?"
"Easy," said the young man. "Buy me out."

Doesn't Sherlock object to the sound of the dryer? Angel would kill me if I tried to use one on her.
A regular hair dryer is nothing compared to this air blower. ;D . It sounds more like what the carpet guy uses when he cleans our carpets. The one we use isn't as loud as the one the breeder used on him so he doesn’t freak out & is kind of okay with it as long as I keep it on low.
-
Cillaliz, what is the news on Callie?
-
Ginny, nice to see you here. I have been thinking of you and Richard, and son Rob.
-
Zach is back from the groomer's, looking very sporty in a dashing green bandana.
Photos please :)
-
How is Callie tonight?
-
Cillaliz, what is the news on Callie?
The good news is she pooped a little today. The not so good news is she won't be coming home until tomorrow. If my calculations are right, she will have had 6 or 7 enemas in the time she was at the vet. YIKES! When I visited today, her back end is shaved, and looks VERY sore. I feel so sorry for her. She's a lot more active today. She kept jumping down off the table and didn't want to sit still at all. She did purr as I pet her. I can tell she's more than ready to go home and I'm more than ready to have her here.
-
Boo is driving me crazy. If I'm not playing toys with her she's doing something to get into trouble so I'll give her my attention. She was looking for Callie tonight. She will be very glad to have her home tomorrow. They don't kid me, they really love each other
-
Poor little thing.
-
Boo keeps vocalizing. I'm sure she's hoping Callie will answer her back
-
I feel bad that Callie has gone through this ordeal, but the really good part is that she doesn't need any sort of surgery. So, I'm sure she's sore, but she will recover and be fine. Then I have to totally change the food situation. I've always left dry food out for them. Now I have to cut her food intake at least in half. That's going to be a pain.
-
Cilla-I'm sorry Callie isn't home yet and very pleased to learn she is jumping around again. Don't forget she might smell funny when you take her home, possibly upsetting Boo for awhile.
-
I say "quasi-first-date" since there will be four of us at the table, so it will be more of a gathering than a date.
Oh, you poor thing.
Does he "know" you consider it a date?
:-\
;)
-
Boo keeps vocalizing. I'm sure she's hoping Callie will answer her back
Well, just pick her up and give her a good hug and tell her Callie will be home soon!
-
Colin's "cash crop" which we trade for vegetables.
-
Cilla-I'm sorry Callie isn't home yet and very pleased to learn she is jumping around again. Don't forget she might smell funny when you take her home, possibly upsetting Boo for awhile.
Yes, I know. I also know that Callie may not be in the mood to play chase around the house or wrestle in the living room, so I'm sure there will be some spats. Callie smells funny in more ways that one right now, believe me.

close up!

I am not terribly sophisticated technically, so I would never do this. But if you so desire, and are willing to sign up for a free account, you can turn anything you have on CD into a ringtone for your mobile phone at phonezoo.com (http://www.phonezoo.com/Welcome.do).
I'll bet some of our DRs could up with some creative uses of show tunes!
I have a program (and I had to buy a specific data cable, too) that can upload any .mp3 or .mid file as a ringtone for my cell phone! That's why I wanted this particular phone. Last year, when The Last Starfighter was part of a new musicals festival reading (it was fabulous!) in Issaquah, WA, I downloaded a couple of tracks from TLS original cast recording as a tribute to Fred and Skip! :) I also have a song of BK's on my phone (or is it Guy Haines singing??). What I have now (and have had the longest) is the opening 30 or so seconds of the overture to Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along.
-
Just want to let everyone I am on the mend.
I hopefully will be back next week sometime.
PS HAPPY B DAY SINGDAW!
-
I spent all afternoon watching four episodes of BROTHERS & SISTERS. I haven't gotten to it yet, but it looks like the original pilot episode with Betty Buckley (in the role now played by Saly Field) is included in the set. That will be something to see.
Matt, which disc has the original pilot? I want to add it to my Netflix queue, but only that disc, for now...I have 102 movies in my queue!! I need to start watching them more quickly. ;)
-
Glad to hear you are mending, Michael S.!
-
Good news DR Michael.
-
Well, just pick her up and give her a good hug and tell her Callie will be home soon!
Oh I've done that and will continue to do so.
Today was the first time Boo has spent so many hours alone since I got her. I worked a little more than half a day. Nadia told me I looked and sounded like I should be home sleeping, but I had things I had to do. I don't get paid sick leave anymore, so I had to get a few things done.

Continued healing vibes to DR Michael S, glad you are getting better

Wonderful. Just wonderful.
-
Mend well, Michael S!!
-
Ginny, nice to see you here. I have been thinking of you and Richard, and son Rob.
Thank you, DR TCB. It's pretty quiet right now - Richard has gone to Toledo to attend the funeral of a fellow seminarian tomorrow. Those plans were already made and I think it will do him good to minister to someone else. I thought about going with him, but decided that someone should be here. Glad I did, because since he left we've received one flower arrangement, one food gift, and several phone calls. Thanks to HHW for keeping me company.
Rob is in Cincinnati - yesterday and today were his last 2 days of his co-op job. He just called from the Aronoff Center, where he and his girlfriend are attending a performance of Sleeping Beauty.

AND WE THINK THE NY CRITICS ARE TOUGH:
WND (http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57596)
Muslim terrorist leaders threatened to forcibly convert Britney Spears and Madonna to Islam and warned if they resist, their heads would be cut off for "spreading Satanic culture," according to a new book released today.
…
"If I meet these whores I will have the honor – I repeat, I will have the honor – to be the first one to cut the heads off Madonna and Britney Spears if they will keep spreading their satanic culture against Islam," said Muhammad Abdel-Al, spokesman and senior leader of the Popular Resistance Committees terror organization.

"...the first one to cut the heads off..."??

George - thanks for downloading, and again, thanks for being there last summer.
-
This line just popped into my head, and I can't think of what play or movie it's from: I suggest that you hold your breath...for a very...long...time.
Anyone?
Rings no bells, although I think I recall a line:
Why don't you take a very long walk...on a very short pier.
I've always liked the line from Sunday in the Park with George, "Why don't you walk into the river until your lungs fill up and you drown." ;D
-
George - thanks for downloading, and again, thanks for being there last summer.
No! Thank YOU!! :-*

The flowers are hybrid Waratahs. The waratah is the state floral emblem for New South Wales. (it is too cold in this state - Victoria - for the "original" waratah to grow successfully in commercial quantities).
-
Yes, I know. I also know that Callie may not be in the mood to play chase around the house or wrestle in the living room, so I'm sure there will be some spats. Callie smells funny in more ways that one right now, believe me.
Oh, I meant that Boo would be upset Callie doesn't smell right & might not be her usual affection self with Callie.
-
Tonight I went to the store and bought all the fixings for a REAL malt - malted milk powder, chocolate, ice cream and I added the milk and vanilla extract and put it in the blender. YUMMY!!! it was just like the malts my dad made on the annual Wizard of Oz night. Chocolate malts, grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. That was the menu every time The Wizard of Oz was on.
-
His reasoning (http://www.pass.to/newsletter/a_talk_with_norman_jewison.htm) ...
Thanks for the info. I also agree. He had a very good reason. Some people are just not "movie" people, however fabulous they are on stage.
-
Did I miss some news last week? Where is DR Edisauras?
-
Oh, I meant that Boo would be upset Callie doesn't smell right & might not be her usual affection self with Callie.
;D I know...
-
Isn't Edi still moving and unpacking???
-
Colin's "cash crop" is beautiful.
-
Topic of the Day (before I forget):
In my CD player: the soundtrack to "Hairspray" (I just finished it) and then the original Broadway cast recording.
In my DVD player: Torchwood (series 1, part 1), "300" (from Netflix) and something else.
On my DVR: a whole bunch of episodes of a show called "Code LYOKO" for my friend Margo's daughter that I need to put on a videotape (they don't have cable to watch TV).
-
Michael S, thanks for stopping in with the good news. I look forward to your return next week. Continued HEALING VIBES!

BB8 SPOILERS
OK, I'm back to liking the Donatos. They did it. It's pretty amazing that they were never kicked out and Danielle tying the record for vetos is great playing. So, I'm glad they won. I'm guessing they will give the money to Danielle. I can't wait to see the reaction to Eric being America's player
-
Back from a good rehearsal and a great dinner at the same Chinese restaurant. I decided not to do full run today, but instead opted to start and stop and fix as we went. It was the right thing to do and gave everyone a new sense of energy. Tomorrow we'll do a full run.
I had the orange chicked and sesame noodles again - shared with Mr. Pearl and Miss Taylor.

Seems Winer is a Whiner.

A whiner? For pointing out that her words were taken out of order and turned into a good review when she gave a bad review? I'd say she should sue those people...
-
DR Tomovoz, thanks for sharing the fruits of Colin's work....beautiful!
-
Vegetables....friend, or foe? ;)
-
Thanks, DR Michael S! We all wish you well and a speedy recovery.
Also ***POSITIVE VIBES*** for DC Callie and DR Cillaliz.
-
Ron, thank you for the interview link. I thought Zero's "haminess" was fun on stage. Keith loved him in the play, which he saw three times, & was disappointed Zero didn't do the film. Once we saw the film I agreed the casting was perfect, Keith took a little longer to agree.

Strange Replacement Casting. . .
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's gala concert has lost one star but gained another.
Bernadette PetersKristin Chenoweth was forced to withdraw and Bernadette Peters has stepped in. Chenoweth had to cancel "due to injuries resulting from a fall on a stairwell over the weekend," said PSO spokesman Jim Barthen. "She is recovering at home in L.A."
Tony- and Golden Globe-winner Peters will sing in the Sept. 15 concert at Heinz Hall, Downtown, that heralds the beginning of the 2007-08 orchestra season. The Broadway star will join conductors Andrew Davis and Marvin Hamlisch and tenor Dimitri Pittas.
This is the gala's second cancellation -- tenor Rolando Villazon bowed out in August and was replaced by Pittas. (Andrew Druckenbrod, Post-Gazette classical music critic).
I was looking forward to seeing Kristen Chenoweth tomorrow. . .
Should I still go? What do the DRs here think? Does Bernadette really have the upper register that Kristen does?
-
Laurie Winer was not the only critic who spoke out.
-
Thanks, DR Michael S! We all wish you well and a speedy recovery.
Also ***POSITIVE VIBES*** for DC Callie and DR Cillaliz.
Thanks DR Singdaw. We're both doing better today than yesterday and it will be SOOO good to have her home tomorrow.
-
So glad to see that DR Michael S is recovering, along with DR Cillaliz and Callie.
-
DS Rob called a while ago to ask me to ask HHW if anyone here has any connections to the current My Fair Lady tour, which plays Cincinnati Sept. 25-Oct. 7?
-
So glad to see that DR Michael S is recovering, along with DR Cillaliz and Callie.
Thanks Ginny, I've been thinking about you and Richard today
-
What? I didn't say a big organ.
You didn't have to.
-
I wouldn't think that Peters and Chenoweth would shine in the same repertoire...although Chenoweth does have both steely chest belt and lyric soprano "voices."
-
I hear Kevin's bacon is worthy of a starring role. ::)
I think the water was just extremely hot in that shower.
-
Watching a humorous and intriguing documentary called "Who the *&%#$ is Jackson Pollack," about a lady trucker who bought a painting for $5 at a junk store, and trying to trace its provenance as to whether it might be an original Pollack worth millions.

The fabulous Renee Geyer recently did SLEEPING BEAUTY in tomovoz' neighborhood; I would have liked to have seen that!
-
When I think of Peter & Chenoweth AND selections from WEST SIDE STORY, I come up with Chenoweth as a Maria and Peters as an Anita.
-
HOW had I missed the news that Meryl Streep is starring in a screen adaptation of the musical Momma Mia, due out next summer?
-
PLUS. . .
I've seen Bernadette onstage in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, THE GOODBYE GIRL and her final performance in INTO THE WOODS; I have yet to see Kristen onstage, unless you really want to count that b**tleg I have of WICKED which I've seen many, many times. . .

Yes.

HOW had I missed the news that Meryl Streep is starring in a screen adaptation of the musical Momma Mia, due out next summer?
Pierce Brosnan is her co-star.
-
Are you having a very happy natal day, Singdaw?
-
DR Tomovoz, I saw DR Edisaurus a few days ago online, valiantly struggling to catch up with last weekend's posts, but I think the move into her new house has temporarily sidelined her.
-
Yes, thanks, td! Of our sub-group of 6 people at the office [the total workforce in our building is 400], I was the only one in today, so it was quite stress-free. And I had some nice steamed chicken with broccoli and brown rice, a small salad, and some berries with yogurt, and a tiny brownie cube for supper. An interesting documentary. And the company of the lovely H/Ks all day long! What more could anyone want?

DR Jane, I tried to get a photo that captured all of Zach's magnificence, but perhaps I'll have another go at it tomorrow.
-
Hmm...
The online "hanky code" reference indicates that if Zach sports his hunter green handkerchief on the left side, he IS a Daddy, but if on the right, he WANTS a Daddy.

We have still to watch the Edi DVD on

I become as confused as Pacino with all those colo(u)rs. I can never remember - so I stay home.
-
Well then you can discover for yourself how handsome Sacco was. ;)
Just ask DR MBarnum.
-
I stay home.
I do, too. A wise course of action, I think.
-
Does Sacco wear a Kurta?
-
Well, it's been a week. I think I shall be retiring quite early tonight. Thanks again to all you lovely DRs for making it such a wonderful day, and for sharing your laughs and concerns. Until tomorrow...

First of all, I love Bernadette, so I'm biased. ;) Anyway, she performed her solo concert here in Olympia about 10 years ago or so and she was FABULOUS! She put on a great show and it was totally worth going to see. I recommend seeing her. :)

DR Tomovoz, I saw DR Edisaurus a few days ago online, valiantly struggling to catch up with last weekend's posts, but I think the move into her new house has temporarily sidelined her.

ps: a little trick for DR Miss Karen...
You can see how many years young each DR is by clicking on the "Calendar" tab at the top or bottom of the screen! If they've chosen to share their true and correct dates to begin with!
-
DR Cillaliz - I love traditions like your malts on Wizard of Oz night. One of ours was Mom's clam dip for Miss America, which IIRC used to be about this time of year. She's coming over tomorrow to help me rehang the bedroom drapes and to watch the Michigan-Notre Dame game. She told me on the phone earlier that she's making clam dip for us :D

Bryan received secondary applications from two more schools, after calling today to check they received the initial application. Only two schools left to hear from, both of which actually screen the first applications before sending secondaries.
The secondary applications can be very time consuming & difficult, depending on the essay requested. Basically he is only getting out for food & trips to the post office.

Here it would be "Gerry's Attic & The Pacemakers!"
I'd rather have "Cherry & The Piemakers" or "Chérie & The Peacemakers".... ;)

Gerry & The Pacemakers are touring here at the moment. I think Gerry Marsden has had more than a few pacemakers replaced. Gerry Atrick indeed. Ok - He is only 65!

I wouldn't think that Peters and Chenoweth would shine in the same repertoire...although Chenoweth does have both steely chest belt and lyric soprano "voices."
Peters won't be doing the same material that Chenowith was set for. I'm sure she's bringing one of her sets with her.
-
LOL. I did see Gerry about 35 years ago!
Hence the expression on his face... now! :)
-
Ginny, best of luck to DS Rob.
I don't think I can express how overwhelming Bryan's process is to us, let alone to him. I guess I should be grateful he has more than one program to apply to. On the other hand he has more options to be rejected, not a pleasant thought.
Has DS Rob even considered what he will do if he isn't accepted?
-
TCB would remember the Gerry & The Pacemakers big hit "FAIRY Cross the mersey".
(The ferry/fairy was the start of the mary/merry/marry)
The only Mersey I know is Robert!!
I can't I know him fairy well, though!
-
Page Sistine could be a chapelle!
-
Peters won't be doing the same material that Chenowith was set for. I'm sure she's bringing one of her sets with her.
I take Roberta over Bernadette any time! ???
-
Pink Waratahs in the garden.
-
AND... I am not talking about Soubirou, who's in the Chapelle!
-
so called "white" version
-
Pink Waratahs in the garden... while Queen Latifa's in the kitchen?!
-
so called "white" version... of Queen Latifa? You get me confused!

Those are beautiful flowers Mr. Oz!!

It must be spring in the land of Oz-BEAUTIFUL!
Vixmom-cute card!

BTW - the trees behind the pink waratahs are Hazel Nuts. (an Oregon speciality)

Spring has indeed sprung. The Triffids are restless.
-

Are you trying to say that there are lots of nuts in Oregon and that you know a few?! ;)
-
The Triffids are restless.
What are their hits>?!

-
I don't believe I have seen a hazel-nut tree. If I'm mistaken, I'm glad I wasn't aware of it.
-
BTW -
Is that Born To Win?! 8)
-
I won't argue I'm not a nut, just never a hazel-nut.
-
Those are such beautiful flowers, Tomovoz.
-
Peters won't be doing the same material that Chenowith was set for. I'm sure she's bringing one of her sets with her.
Not according to all the press releases, DR elmore; it's still the "Selections from WEST SIDE STORY" with the Pittsburgh Pops - - with Marvin, though, Bernadette could try to bring some life to his score for THE GOODBYE GIRL. ;)
-
I won't argue I'm not a nut, just never a hazel-nut.
I'll make a nut of it! ;)
-
Strange Replacement Casting. . .
Kristin Chenoweth was forced to withdraw and Bernadette Peters has stepped in. Chenoweth had to cancel "due to injuries resulting from a fall on a stairwell over the weekend,"
Was she doing laundry?
-
Thanks DearReader Laura. I thought I'd give Vixmom a break from creepy crawlies.
-
Those are very nice pictures, Tomovoz. :D
-

Marvin will sing and Berna will conduct the orchestra!
Am I nut, or what?! :D

Spring has indeed sprung. The Triffids are restless.
Is it their day??

;)
-
At least it's not a poster with spiders!
-
Was she doing laundry?
According to the wags over on another website, one that is not nearly as popUlar as this one, Ms. Chenoweth fell out of her bed. . .(make of that what you will).
DR George, not to dismiss Miss Peters, but, I was truly looking forward to hearing another round of Bernstein sung by Kristen; so naturally, I am a bit hesitant about tomorrow night.
-
Was she doing laundry?
She fell off climbing the scales!
-
DR Cillaliz - I love traditions like your malts on Wizard of Oz night.
So do I!
I'm also pleased that Wizard of Oz was an event in your family.
-
DR George, not to dismiss Miss Peters, but, I was truly looking forward to hearing another round of Bernstein sung by Kristen; so naturally, I am a bit hesitant about tomorrow night.
Ahh, there is that. Kristen would be a little more...appropriate.

Howard Kill... errr.... Howard Keel was in that???!!! :o
-
Editoys'rus is working on a new film called: Sicko & Vendetta, so she has better things to do than chatting with the likes of us! There!
ROTFLOL. Oh, Francois, you naughty boy!
-
Nicole Maurey?! Whatever happened of her?!
-
Howard Kill... errr.... Howard Keel was in that???!!! :o
Who knew??
-
Spoiler
Day of the Triffids.
I think it was an ice-cream van that saved the world. I'm not surprised.
-
Jane, the program Rob's applying for requires that he complete his Bachelor's degree. Even though he really, really wants into this program and to go to Officer Candidate School after college, at least he'll have his degree and can explore other options.
-
Who knew??
I hope HE knew! ;)
-
So do I!
I'm also pleased that Wizard of Oz was an event in your family.
The flying monkeys scared the bejesus out of me when I was little.
-
Spol it for me, Tom! Spol it! :D
You're not the one to stow thrones DR François. LOL
-
Pink Waratahs in the garden.
the wart hogs are most lovely and unusual, TOMOVOZ. They look like a flowering artichoke.
-
Good Night All
-
Good night DR ArnoldMBrockman
-
You're not the one to stow thrones DR François. LOL
But I live in a grass house protected by triffits and Howard Keel and singing bamboos! :o ??? ;)
-
Goodnight ArnoldBrockman.
-
Thanks DearReader Laura. I thought I'd give Vixmom a break from creepy crawlies.
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Good Night All
Oh! I hadn't noticed that All was here tonight! ;)
-
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
That's what I call over doing it, kisswise! ;)
-
Did I mention we have a frost warning here tonight?
-
DR Ginny-It seems Rob has time to slowly apply to this program. He might even change his mind by then. I hope he will end up in a career that is very satisfying.
-
GEORGE, my (Netflix) queue is bigger than your queue. :)
-
Frost! I thought it was cool here at 70 degrees. It seemed cooler to me after all the high temps we have been having. Yesterday was beautiful with a sunny 75 degrees.
-
GEORGE, my (Netflix) queue is bigger than your queue. :)
Ooooh....my!!
I won't... touch that!! :D
-
It will be 80 degrees again next week
-
Ooooh....my!!
I won't... touch that!! :D
Hey, that's tame for this site!
-
DH Richard called a while ago and said it's much colder in Toledo than here.
-
She says, ignoring his double entrendre.
-
Jane, the deal is that as soon as he's accepted the Navy picks up his educational expenses. We haven't pressured him to do this for the money, but he'd like to have it settled.
And I've just realized that I'm very tired, so - goodnight, all.
-
I thought you had left a little bit ago & I was thinking you must be exhausted.
Sleep well.
-
Night Ginny, sleep well.
-
BTW, DR TOMOVOZ, I watched FRAMED. Have you seen it? Written by Lynda LaPlante of PRIME SUSPECT. Not as much fun as HUSTLE, IMO, but a very fine cat-and-mouse. Sam Neill plays a real snake-in-the-grass (or snake-in-the-waratahs, if you prefer).
-
I didn't think there was anyone here who spoke English! (Prof Higgins knew that).
-
Jane, the deal is that as soon as he's accepted the Navy picks up his educational expenses. We haven't pressured him to do this for the money, but he'd like to have it settled.
They could accept him any time now & begin paying for the rest of his schooling until he completes his degree? Not a bad deal, if the Navy is really what he wants to do.
-
Don't we have a Brit who occasionally posts?
-
I didn't think there was anyone here who spoke English! (Prof Higgins knew that).
The closer to do so would be you, no?! :)
Thanks to La Fayette, they do NOT speak English at all in the US of A! ;D
-
Don't we have a Brit who occasionally posts?
One Brit at a time, as in "Barnum"?! ;)
-
Don't we have a Brit who occasionally posts?
I don't think we do!
-
No Waratahs in New Zealand. Sam Neill would not find a snake there either!
I disliked Prime Suspect.
I've not seen "Framed". I'll watch out for it.
If you enjoy "con" movies - "Nine Queens" (Argentinian film) is wonderful.
-
Don't we have a Brit who occasionally posts?
Allan used to post on the old board and also Steve (he may have been a USA citizen though). I don't think anyone since.
I think DRs François, Jennifer and myself are the only foreigners
-
"Con" movies would sound very... peculiar in French! (Don't ask me!)
-
I've been watching the tele, nodding off from time to time. Tried to watch something called Las Vegas but had to shut it off. Watched a little Larry King but had to shut it off.
-
If you enjoy "con" movies - "Nine Queens" (Argentinian film) is wonderful.
Yes, I do enjoy con films. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out.
-
I think a Brit did post once or twice awhile back. I don't remember his name.
-
Watched a little of Master Of The World on TCM. Then started watching The Cat Burglar and fell asleep.
-
I think DRs François, Jennifer and myself are the only foreigners
Yes! You can pity ME!! :o ??? ;D ;)
-
Allen, thank you. I'm not sure I remember Steve. I'm going to go check the member list & see if I can jar my memory.
-
Bruce, what is the name of the British fellow who used to post here from time to time?
-
I think a Brit did post once or twice awhile back. I don't remember his name.
Was it Nine Queens?! (I know! I know!)
-
Allen, thank you. I'm not sure I remember Steve. I'm going to go check the member list & see if I can jar my memory.
Allan! Not Allen! ;)
(I can't jar my marmelade!)
-
Bruce, what is the name of the British fellow who used to post here from time to time?
Aaaah! "British fellow" sounds more... civilian than "Brit"! :D
-
That's what I call over doing it, kisswise! ;)
jealous?
;)
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
"mariafriedman" and "animalmagnetism" are the 2 "Brits" I found.... and I am NOT even "registered" on the France map!
How accurate is that!?!!
I shall blame Dubya!
-
Was it Stephen Farrow?
-
Don't we have a Brit who occasionally posts?
I'm married to one, but he posts not
neither does he spin
-
jealous?
;)
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Jealous, no! Envious, yes!
(I like to "share"!) :D
-
I'm married to one, but he posts not
neither does he spin
Too much info!!! ;D :D
-
neither does he spin
Only with Marty!! ??? 8) ;)
-
I didn't find them.
Off to watch Deadwood, season 2-episodes 3 & 4.
'night.
-
Was it Stephen Farrow?
Perhaps. But I keep thinking Singleton, single-something. ???
-
I just caught up on yesterday's posts... lovely article Noel, congrats!!

Perhaps. But I keep thinking Singleton, single-something. ???

It's Christmas already?!
-
Poor TCB.... I am glad that your therapist is continuing to advocate for you
and I laughed out loud at your Dr. Thompson jokes!!!
-
JMK WOW!!! Talk about hitting the lottery...
Why such violence?!!
-
Cilla, hope everything continues to come out alright for your Callie!!!
-

I think I may split, too. Didn't get much sleep last night. (No Ny-quil.)
-
JMK WOW!!! Talk about hitting the lottery...Happy New Year indeed to you and your congregation!
What do you know; what comes after Christmas?.... ;)
-
POPPINS PLAYING VIBES FOR JOSE
(though I know you don't really need 'em!)
-
Simpleton?! ;)
Maybe that was it. ;)
-
Good night.
-
Bonne nuit!

I would certainly go.
-
DR Cillaliz - I love traditions like your malts on Wizard of Oz night. One of ours was Mom's clam dip for Miss America, which IIRC used to be about this time of year. She's coming over tomorrow to help me rehang the bedroom drapes and to watch the Michigan-Notre Dame game. She told me on the phone earlier that she's making clam dip for us :D
Ginny, you have had so much heartache, are you sure you want to watch the Michigan game?
-
Matt, which disc has the original pilot? I want to add it to my Netflix queue, but only that disc, for now...I have 102 movies in my queue!! I need to start watching them more quickly. ;)
I'm guessing it's disc #6, the last in the set. SInce it wasn't on disc #1, it wouldn't make sense to be anywhere else except with the other special features.
I'm only on disc #3, however. If it's one one other than #6, I'll remember to let you know.
-
I notice the Dame Kirri West Side Story is being reissued. I wonder how the Hayley Westenra version will measure up.
Two NZ Marias.
-
TCB would remember the Gerry & The Pacemakers big hit "FAIRY Cross the mersey".
(The ferry/fairy was the start of the mary/merry/marry)
FERRY CROSS THE MERCY is still one of my favorite songs of the 60s. And I even liked the movie.
-
HOW had I missed the news that Meryl Streep is starring in a screen adaptation of the musical Momma Mia, due out next summer?
Boy, I don't know because we've talked about it here before. Pierce Brosnan is the male lead.
-
I guess I just won't stop until Noel replaces his headshot with something more flattering to him, will I? :)
I thank you for the compliment.
No more flattering picture of me has ever been taken, I can assure you. The photograph is by Joel Lipton, who, some years ago, shot every celebrity in the TV Guide Fall Preview back when that was a "thing."
But as http://www.playbill.com/news/article/111019.html (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/111019.html) shows, no behind-the-scenes guy should ever be photographed with amazingly attractive actors. Walruses. however, I can share a frame with.
-
I spent the entire evening watching BROTHERS & SISTERS. These included some memorable episodes especially the one where all the couples went to the ranch house thinking it'd be private. Wonderful episode.
Treat Williams was a very effective love interest for Saly Field. Too bad he wasn't retained.
I understand Danny Glover is going to be her love interest this season.
-
Good night.
-
One of the episodes, in fact the one with the couples at the ranch house, had a running commentary with Robbie Baitz and David Marshall Grant. Another excelent commentary, both of the ones I've listened to today were superior to ANY of the ones on the GREY'S ANATOMY's set or the UGLY BETTY set, and I don't think DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES even had any commentaries.
-
peaceful pain free sleep wishes to you DR TCB.
-
I was going to turn off BROTHERS & SISTERS at 10 and watch last night's BURN NOTICE, but I was just so deeply involved with the story, so I just kept the episodes going. I'm now 11 episodes into the set.
-
But tomorrow, I will watch BURN NOTICE and probably PSYCH while I'm cooking and eating lunch.
-
Good Night Tom, sleep well and wake up pain free
(free hypnosis... just reread that last bit over an dover and over and over.....)
-
No more flattering picture of me has ever been taken, I can assure you.
The last flattering photo of me is this one.
<--------
-
The last flattering photo of me is this one.
<--------
LOL I am sure that's not true!
-
You take such wonderful pictures, you should take one of yourself for us!!!
-
Of course, my picture is not exactly recent either, ... the Vixter is actually 47 years old now
-
Heading down to bed now.
Good night!
-
GEORGE, my (Netflix) queue is bigger than your queue. :)
Jeanne, you're the first person to ever admit that!
Well...to me, at least. ;)
-
Noel - Huh! I was thinking that, in that Playbill spread, your foto actually compares nicely to the one of Austin Miller in the group above yours.
-
I'm guessing it's disc #6, the last in the set. SInce it wasn't on disc #1, it wouldn't make sense to be anywhere else except with the other special features.
I'm only on disc #3, however. If it's one one other than #6, I'll remember to let you know.
Thanks for the info. I figured that it would probably be the last.
-
Perhaps. But I keep thinking Singleton, single-something. ???
Sigerson Holmes, I think.
-
Did lots of posts just get removed??????????
-
Am I being gaslit?
-
Sigerson Holmes, I think.
aka Herbert Kaplan - a USA citizen.
-
aka Herbert Kaplan - a USA citizen.
I stand corrected.
-
Well, I'm leaving work now. Good evening. :)
-
Sigerson Holmes still lurks at times. He was on the old board.
-
Good evening DR George.
