Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Brainy, and now it is time for you to post until the Brainy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ROSCIAN!
-
I will shortly toddle off to bed.
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
I will catch up on my posting over the weekend, believe you me.
-
I wonder if I should bring my computer with me to the Acorn? Perhaps there's a wireless signal there.
-
But I fear it would be distracting, where I need to be focused.
-
As I was typing before bk locked the thread, I next watched EAT MY DUST! It's a pretty dreadful film, not funny, not exciting, kind of a poor man's SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. I can understand Ron Howard wanted to do this after playing all those wholesome teenagers in the 1970s on TV, but he's not very believable even as a semi-bad boy. Glad to have that behind me.
Tomorrow, I'll have to watch the two bonus features on the disc.
-
I'm VERY nervous about today and this evening.
-
Will we never get to page two?
Sure.
-
So, don't forget an endless selection of excellent vibes and xylophones to get us through.
-
Sorry, MattH, I meant to warn I was about to lock.
-
I hope my internal clock is working well.
-
I'm so happy not to be nauseous.
-
I ended my evening of viewing by rewatching the Valentine's Day episode of BROTHERS & SISTERS. It was Scotty's last appearance on season 1 (though it's rumored we may see him again this season), and Sally Field getting high with Margot Kidder was pretty funny.
-
I'm going to start packing up stuff this weekend to send home, so that I only have a small number of things in my carry-on suitcase.
-
How fast can we get to page two? Before I go to bed?
-
Sorry, MattH, I meant to warn I was about to lock.
No problemo. It only took a minute to retype.
-
I shall now brush Ye Olde Teeth.
-
I'm expecting the Criterion disc of THREEPENNY OPERA tomorrow, days after the street date but that's OK.
-
MY goodness, the notes went up early it is still September 19 here on the Island of Long but it is September 20 in HHW land... perhaps BK made a quick trip to Australia!!
-
excellent vibes and xylophones to the cast and crew of BRAIN FROM PLANET X! I don't think you will need them, however...it sounds like you have a fantastic crew and we know the cast is stellar! It will be a great show BK!!!

Vibes of the most excellent kind to BK and cast!
AND BELATED B'DAY TO DEAR ELMORE!
-
I had a wonderful day celebrating Elmore's birthday by staying home sick and watching lots of motion pictures on my DVD machine...
I started out watching 2 of my favorite 1950s Universal-Internationl mystery thrillers STEP DOWN TO TERROR (starring my interviewee Colleen Miller, Charles Drake, and Rod Taylor)...and THE GLASS WEB (starring John Forsyth, Marcia Henderson, Ed. G. Robinson, and Kathleen Hughes).
After wards I popped in a western titled MONEY, WOMEN AND GUNS starring Jock Mahoney and my interviewee Jeffrey Stone...and just now I finished one of my all time favorite musicals, 1934s STAND UP AND CHEER!
A wonderful day, despite the scratchy throat, running nose, and cough...more of the same tomorrow...and I might even get some Bollywood movies into the mix!
-
I can remember some others but not hte titles... I remember scenes.
The one I do remember well is "The Blob"
-

Off to bed now.
Good night!

I do remember some movie about a giant shrew or something. The creature was creepy looking and I vaguely recall having nightmares about it...

I shall now toddle off to bed.

Pleasant dreams bk and calming thoughts.....

Yes all of us will be there tonight in sprit.....and I am sending special vibrations of the interplanetary kind to THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X - after all, I am one of the producers, you know!

900-lb. man removed from home
Workers cut hole in house, use forklift to rescue 33-year-old
Kathleen Lavey
Lansing State Journal
Lansing firefighters Tuesday extricated a 900-pound man from his home by cutting a hole in the wall of his second-floor bedroom and lifting him out on a forklift.
Rescue workers were called in at about 4:48 p.m. to a duplex on Eighth Street by a visiting nurse, who determined the man needed medical help, according to Lansing Fire Chief Tom Cochran, who was at the scene. He said the man had not left his home since 2003.

I'm expecting the Criterion disc of THREEPENNY OPERA tomorrow, days after the street date but that's OK.
My copy arrived yesterday! I forgot to mention it with my other birthday packages. I've seen the German film many times, the first was at Tanglewood in 1973 with Carmen de Lavallade, while I was working for the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. I really look forward to L'Opera de Quat' Sous.
Good morning, all! I have a full day, so I will be E&T most of it. First, a trek to Toyland, then an afternoon crammed with incident at the Acorn Theatre. I haven't decided if I shall return to the apartment or simply remain downtown til show time. At any rate, tonight we open and I'm quite excited about it.

Mr. Kimmel gets a notice on the audio version (and the on-line version as well) on Playbill Radio. I'm listening right now and they play a crop of songs then do a news break. The story after Ms. Prince starring in A Catered Affair (which begins performances in San Diego tonight) is the fact that Mr. Kimmel will be directing his own musical The Brain from Planet X. They mention Mr. Kimmel's contributions to the "ouvre" (they didn't say that, I did) with his recordings of Lost in Boston and Unsung Musicals. The clip isn't readily available for listening. You have to listen to Playbill Radio and wait for the news break

Thank you, DR ArnoldBrockman! I know I'm prepared, and I think the band is wonderful, as is the cast. Actually, DR Elmore, my THREEPENNY O)PERA came yesterday, too (also MARTHA GRAHAM ON FILM). The mailman dropped the package off on my side porch instead of in the mailbox on the front porch, and I never had occasion to look there until I went out to get the newspaper in my driveway this morning.
Wouldn't have mattered as I had EAT MY DUST to watch last night. I may get to it early this evening. I have NEVER seen this version (and the French version filmed simultaneously with the German version is also included). I'm very eager to see it. Glancing at the chapter stops, it's obvious many songs have been dropped.

I only remember the Moritat, Pirate Jenny, and the Barbara-Song, and even that could be wrong. My memory is that a band arrangement of the Ballad of The Easy Life is heard during the hotel scene.

Well, her PM this morning was quite vague about her travel plans, I must say!

Thursday morning greetings. I'll be E & T most of the day and into the evening, because we have another work day at Harriet's apartment and my book group meets tonight. We're discussing Debra Moggach's Tulip Fever and I really, really, really need to be with my girlfriends.
Yesterday actually went quite smoothly. Richard and I developed a strategy and then just started working the plan. Rob met us there late in the afternoon and we loaded both cars with stuff for his new apartment and drove to Cincinnati. Richard and I came home tired, but satisfied with our day's work, at about 9pm.
-
I must head down now to get cleaned up for my early lunch with best friend John. Before lunch we must do some moving of equipment to make way for what's arriving this afternoon.
-
DH Richard and I send our heartiest opening night vibes to all associated with The Brain from Planet X!
-
Oh, favorite 50s sci-fi.

Favorite monster sci-fi: TARANTULA!

DR Elmore - congratulations on the Plaza job. Remember, Eloise lived there, for Lord's sake.

DR Miss Karen, of the 6 Brain performances, the only one that didn't conflict with something else on my calendar was the closing night performance. So that's when I'll be there. :(
"And that's a good thing."
Because so will dozens of other Hainsies and Kimlets!

Will the LA Cast CD be on sale at the show tonight?
Who is playing the theremin?
-
Yes, indeed...
In all the hoopla of the Brain opening, DR Ginny, we are keeping you and your family in our hearts as you go through this very difficult time.
-
By the way, I would like to see the updated list of all the HHWers that will be in tonight's opening Brain audience ... Curious, like a cat, and want to know who's gonna be there tonight cheering on Boo-Key and the rest of the Brainiacs...
I think most of the HHW crew will be there for closing, Miss Karen
-
They have now declared "The Brain Tap" as their theme song!
DAKOTA, I must have missed something. You have the Brain CD, but who are your students and how do they know the Brain Tap???
-
DRs JRand and Singdaw - thank you for the thoughts. While there are difficult moments, it has to be done and we've even had some lighter moments. Harriet had saved all the postcards we'd sent her over the years from our family trips, including one from Richard from NYC in the 1970s.
We're off - bye for now.
-
Continued Vibes to Ginny and Richard....can't wait to see you
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And the drains are draining very slow here this morning... :-\
-
In any case...
For the Cast, Crew, Orchestra and Creative Team of The Brain from Planet X...
BREAK A LEG!
-
I will be seeing The Brain tomorrow night since I'm just on "stand-by" for tomorrow afternoon's rehearsal of Mary Poppins. So, I won't be all Chim-Chimney'd out from playing piano all afternoon. :) -Alas, since Mary Poppins went to their "School Year Schedule", I'm not sure I can make it to the closing night festivities since we now have shows at 1:00 and 6:30 on Sundays. But we'll see how things fall into place next weekend.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Well, since the 2050's have yet to occur, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. ;D
-
And since I spent/wasted a good chunk of this morning trying to clear a clogged shower drain, I must now get ready for the rest of my day.

Couldn't you join us after the show? I do hope you'll have some time over the weekend. Samantha can't wait to meet you. She and jhvw have been talking ;)

DAKOTA, I must have missed something. You have the Brain CD, but who are your students and how do they know the Brain Tap???
I had it playing at my desk while I was working and the kids (student workers) were sitting at a desk next to mine and they thought it was rather catchy. Mind you these are college students. I often take some of cds and listen to them at work. It breaks the monotony of the CIRC desk at the library. I usually need music to help bring down the stress levels.
The warring factions now have armed gaurds.

Sakes alive, you can't say ANYTHING innocently around here!
You're just finding that out?? I think not. ;)

Well, if I looked like this in the mirror each morning, I wouldn't complain!

Your partner might.
-
Man, I wish the broom wasn't broken, because I would whisk out there to be in the opening night audience...
I'm sure they'll settle for a few incantations. Just haul out the kettle, build a fire and get the pot to boiling.
-
And since I spent/wasted a good chunk of this morning trying to clear a clogged shower drain, I must now get ready for the rest of my day.
"Tackle the shower drain, La La La

Hi-Ho! The Glamorous Life!"

Dakota, so the students made up their own Brain tap and dance it?
-
Good morning, everyone!
-
I must head down now to get cleaned up for my early lunch with best friend John. Before lunch we must do some moving of equipment to make way for what's arriving this afternoon.
What CAN it be?
A new refrigerator?
A BowFlex?
A new bed?
A new living room suite?
The mind reels from the possibilities.
Now, as to "probabilities..." ;)

I see the vibemakers are hard at work. It's a VIBE FACTORY here today!

I was pleased to read that PS Classics will be recording the UK premier production of Malby & Shire's Take Flight. While I'm not the greatest fan of their score for Big, I love their Baby and all the songs from their various review shows.

DR Kerry, this movie is available on DVD and it just has some wonderful songs in it that always make me happy.

TOD:
I was never a Sci-Fi fan, but I saw THE BLOB and THE FLY.
When I was in high school my dad was working near the soundstage where the first season of STARTREK was shot. He'd come home and tell me about the funny guys with the pointy ears. By the time the show aired, I had no interest in seeing it, since I'd already heard all about it. BELIEVE ME, NO ONE, BUT NO ONE, KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE SUCH A HIT. I could have easily gotten onto the set, but wasn't interested. Lord, what a mistake I made.
-
And only her hairdresser knows for sure! :D
There are some things even my hairdresser doesn't know. ;)
-
So it's haircut day here at HHW.
-
DR JEANNE - My Little Margie, The Gale Storm Show, and Rocky Jones still have more interest for me than Star Trek.
-
BREAK A LEG bk and the cast of THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X everyone should listen to the CD in their honor today, especially if you are no where near NYC!
I've got my copy here at work! :D
-
Mine is also at work.
I will listen again tonight...

This has nothing to do with anything but thought I'd share it.
When I was about 5, to raise money for further explorations, the Trieste toured the country after it had successfully reached the depths of the Mariana Trench. Because I loved the sea and wanted to be an oceanographer (and movie star, of course), my mother took me to see the Trieste at whatever school it was appearing here in Phoenix. I actually remember it and the fact that you could actually go in it (which I had to do). The clipping about the Trieste is still in the back of a copy of "The Sea Around Us" by Rachel Carson. My mother gave the book to all three of us kids (at the time only three). My siblings never touched the book, but I learned about ecology, the Titanic, icebergs, waves, Mont St. Michel, Barnum and Bailey's whale (a "Matchmaker" and "Hello Dolly" reference) and so much more. The book still sits on my shelf. I, however, did not get the heebee jeebees for Beebe's bathsphere (a "Follies" reference)>
Auguste Piccard, inventor of the first bathyscaphe, composed the name bathyscaphe using the Greek words bathys ("deep") and skaphos ("ship").
Internal arrangement of Trieste. Click to enlarge.
The first bathyscape was dubbed FNRS-2, named after the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique, and built in Belgium between 1946-48 by Piccard. Propulsion was provided by battery-driven electric motors.
Piccard's second bathyscaphe was Trieste, which was purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1957. It had two water ballast tanks and eleven bouyancy tanks holding 120,000 litres of petrol [1]. In 1960 Trieste, carrying Piccard's son Jacques Piccard and Lt. Don Walsh, reached the deepest point on the earth's surface, the Challenger Deep, in the Mariana Trench. As of 2006 the two remain the only people to reach this extreme depth. The onboard systems indicated a depth of 37,800 ft (11,521 m) but this was later corrected to 35,813 ft (10,916 m) by taking into account variations arising from salinity and temperature. Later and more accurate measurements made in 1995 have found the Challenger Deep to be shallower at 35,798 ft (10,911 m).

Richard and I just returned from another 4+ hours of work at Harriet's apartment. Now that we've had 2 days there by ourselves, we've agreed that it's time for other family members to assist him. I have to go back to work tomorrow and Saturday.
-
Speaking of Hooters, I just found out that the one that was closest to me was bought out by a pizza franchise which now has a daily pizza buffet. We didn't go there today because I needed to get back home, but we are planning a trip there next week.
-
While waiting for the delivery I was expecting, I did manage to watch two episode of BONES. The first was the best episode of the second season, an episode where Brennan and Hodgins get buried alive in their car and must figure out ways to get more air and to be able to send a message alerting their friends where they are. The murderer is never apprehended in the episode, and I can't remember now if he coems back again in another episode this season or if he will make another appearance in the coming season. I'll see as I continue to watch the shows in the box.
-
The second episode involved the murder and decapitation of a young filmmaker doing a "witch in the woods" movie similar to THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Compelling story and a sad end for Brennan this week.
-
Still biding my time, I put in another episode of BROTHERS & SISTERS to rewatch. This was the episode concerning the preparations for Nora's birthday and everything that went wrong. Marion Ross was the funny and poignant guest star.
-
Sounds more than fair to me DR GINNY!
-
And then I began reading another chapter of THE DEATHLY HALLOWS and got about 2/3 of the way through it when the doorbell rang and my delivery finally arrived.
A new television set.
I know, some of you are shaking your head in mortification, but the time had come to upgrade to the highest possible resolution (1080p, more than a million pixels more than the 720p high def set I was using before) and a larger screen - 56" rather than 52".
I have only begun calibrating it, and I'm sure this will go on into the night tonight. First impressions were very positive, and it was a great relief when it actually worked when turned on. Sometimes, they don't, but if they do, they're usually good for the life of the set.
-
The other intriguing aspect to this new TV over my older one is that this new one does not use a bulb/lamp. The light engine is three LEDs that flash onto a chip to make the picture. It's still DLP technology, but the next generation removed from the lamp and spinning color wheel used in other DLP rear projection models. The LEDs are said to have a 10-12 year shelf life, and I'm sure another technology will have come along before then that will capture my fancy.
When I get everything worked out and am happy with the picture, I'll take some pictures.
-
Sheesh! I've been away from work for most of the past 2 weeks and have been peeking in at, but not responding to, my work email. I hadn't heard about this. I agree with you on M&S. I like Big but I love most of their other stuff.
-
DR George - I hope your sister is good to you! You seem to figure in a lot of the items on her "honey-do" list.
Yes, she is very good to me. :)
-
Is everyone in NYC getting dressed for opening night?
-
It's amazing how the forum gets nearly deserted this time of afternoon.
-
OF course, I'm speaking PDT afternoon.
-
I can also speak PDT evening.
-
Also, PDT morning and PDT late-night!
-
I'm very versatile in "PDT speak".
-
Speaking of speak, where's Der Brucer today?

I just am popping in for the briefest of moments, but I wanted to extend another healthy and vigorous bunch of vibes to the entire "BRAIN" group of players this evening.
And of course, the very best and strongest "non-nervous, confidant, and butch" vibes to the very most lovely and guapo BK ;D ;) 8)
And of course Bruce, I also send you a very manly handshake... and a kiss right on your mouth (with tongue) !! :o

Kisses on your opening!!

DR RLP - I do arrive early....but then I am usually asked to move from my chosen seat to accommodate those parties who arrive at curtain time and wish to 'sit together.'
-
Not quite the 60 minute call time....but they probably get calls starting at 30 minutes.
My guess is MR BK is worrying about something that someone should have taken care of....and didn't!
-
Good afternoon. I spent the day at the office. My DH and I hung around while one of our deacons met with a total stranger who called last night with a sob story. We didn't want our deacon (a woman) alone with a stranger. While waiting, we cleaned the fountain and the baptistry. Then I was sent to pay the stranger's electric bill in cash. I did not get any other work done (partly because the speaker for this week didn't send me everything -- like where the hymns and photos she wants are supposed to come from).
-
How about my cable bill?
-
I'm listening to the CD of "The Brain" right now!
~~~Continued Opening Night Vibes!!!~~~
-
I'm listening to the CD of "The Brain" right now!
Same here...it is the next best thing to being there! I am looking forward to the Brain reports!
-
How about my cable bill?
That's how I feel.
-
Hey, DR td, where are you in your avatar? At the disco?
Hey, Missie Karen! I'm at the Zipper. The Zipper Theater. ;)
-
Last evening, DR td was just red x's to me as well.
But this morning he is magically restored!
Rejuvenation; I tell ya!
The restorative qualities of HHW vibes and friendships!
-
Yoni is looking for a man with a package to deliver.
Have I got a guy for you!
-
Just found it fascinating that tonight Dixie Bell keeps bringing me her toy brain. . .
-
I do remember some movie about a giant shrew or something. The creature was creepy looking and I vaguely recall having nightmares about it...
You mean THE TAMING OF THE SHREW with Liz Taylor?
-
When I was a kid I watched some Outer Limits program in black and white that had a huge blob that came out of the water. I was terrified and had nightmares for days. I tried to calm myself down by telling myself that I live in Arizona -- there are no oceans or laked nearby. But then I remembered the canal down the street that I had to cross every day to go to school.
-
DR RLP - I do arrive early....but then I am usually asked to move from my chosen seat to accommodate those parties who arrive at curtain time and wish to 'sit together.'
Oh, them. Isn't it amazing that the ushers simply expect you to give up your seat of choice?
And if not the ushers, then the patrons too unbelievably arrogant as to presume you "should" move to accommodate their desires.
I assume the blonde in the pink nightgown is supposed to be Michael Rennie.
I ran back from rehearsal to get out of everyone's way and to stir up some dinner. I literally will run out in five minutes and hope there's a taxi free and available. The rehearsal was shaky with each of us worrying about our own set of difficulties; I've got a feedback problem in the sound system caused by all the amps for the bass and keyboard 2 which worries me. I feel tonight's performance could go well and I hope it does but I'll fret my way through the show. I'm sure BK will do the same, although I think his work is in good shape and waiting for an audience to laugh.
Pray for Rosemary's baby. I'm outa here!
DR JRand57, the theremin is now a sound cue.
-
You mean THE TAMING OF THE SHREW with Liz Taylor?
No, I'll bet it was:
-
Until then I am going to sit on the couch and finish my Bollywood movie...and let me tell you it is a strange one. KANTHAN KARUNAI (1967) starring Savaji, Gemini, Nagesh, and Jayalalitha.
This film is from south India where there is a whole other film community....or actually several different film communities. The films in this region are in the Tamil language or in Telugu, usually, and have whole other sets of film celebrities. I have seen a few vintage and modern Telugu films, but this is my first Tamil film (although I have some others on the way...both new and old).
KANTHAN KARUNAI is a mythological...very colorful costumes and sets and musical numbers that would make Busby Berkley proud!
The plot thus far is about a demon clan who are fighting the heavenly peoples and their gods and goddesses. Quite bizarre...but so much fun!
A look at the back cover of the DVD says it all.
I don't know nothin' 'bout yer cable. And don't call me Bill.
I assume the blonde in the pink nightgown is supposed to be Michael Rennie.
I'd assume that the blonde is DR Singdaw during his Gabor phase.
-
Gee....deja vu.
All over again.
Not too many rewrite duties tonight, so, I don't know, I'm sort of of the mood... maybe I'll toddle down to the theatre district, see if anything interesting's playing
I've heard tell, around these parts, that there's a brainy musical entering the Acorn. ;)
-
On October 4, 2006, DH Richard and I sat in C 17 & 18 to see Cynthia Nixon in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
I believe the NYMF shows are open seating, with early entry to the theatre for members.
My member usually travels with me.
Kisses on your opening!!
That is usually the best place for them.
Yesterday was my appointment with my second surgeon. First of all, let me say that I try to keep an open mind about people - however, this guy was a
prick dick jerk.
Basically, the gist of the morning was that YES, I have severe arthritis damage in my shoulder; YES, I have bone spurs in my shoulder; and YES, I have a tear in some ligaments in my shoulder. However, since I had only been in pain for two months, it was a bit stupid to start considering surgery at this point. Possibly after four months....... maybe a consideration after six months; but certainly not now. Please call again in 2 months for a follow up.
-
May check in a bit later... Short staffed tonight...
However....
THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X is playing in the computer!!!
-
TCB, i send good thoughts...
-
Aww, TCB. We were all hoping for an end to your pain.
-
Aww, TCB. We were all hoping for an end to your pain.
Thanks, Laura, thanks Dakota.
Oh, and there is no point in going back to physical therapy.
-
Did he have a diploma on the wall, or was it still folded up in his wallet?
-
As producers, I think we're supposed to be having a drink in the bar across the street.
-
As far as a second cortisone injection, according to Dr. Jerk, there is far too much damage to my shoulder in too many different areas to make an injection feesable.
-
Did he have a diploma on the wall, or was it still folded up in his wallet?
I am not sure the ink was dry.
They don't have DECEMBER BRIDE! One of my all-time favorite shows.
But they do have BURKE'S LAW.
That is someone MBarnum should interview - Gary Conway. BURKE'S LAW, LAND OF THE GIANTS.
Oh Hell, I am sure he has already had him.
But Verna Felton sure could make me laugh.
That's right! We must have pictures!!
Remember, DR JEANNE - clothes make the man. ALL of the man type HHW'ers will look just like this. :D
LOL. ;D
Is everyone in NYC getting dressed for opening night?
All of NYC is dressing up because of the Brain's opening? My, that IS impressive. ;)
All of NYC is dressing up because of the Brain's opening? My, that IS impressive. ;)
Now really, Jeanne...would you expect anything less??
:)
I would say it would be curtain call time about now.....
I believe it was an 8:00 curtain and running time is...two hours? Are they doing curtain calls now?
-
All of NYC is dressing up because of the Brain's opening? My, that IS impressive. ;)
He didn't say "dressing up" he said "getting dressed" so naked people all over New York City are putting on clothes because of the opening of THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X
-
JRAND and I are on the same wavelength.
Oh! I see. Thank you, CILLALIZ. I stand corrected.
Dinner at...M&F? No Notes before 1:00, I'd guess.
JRAND and I are on the same wavelength.
I hear a theremin.... ;D
There really should be a report to "the producers" don't you think? ;)
-
There really should be a report to "the producers" don't you think? ;)
Well, I must admit that I'm only an "investor," not a "producer." But I'll take the credit in the program! :D
-
I met with the family of a potential client today. This is a locally high profile federal criminal case and I am hoping to hear something in the morning. I am hoping they decide to hire me. Being privately retained on this sort of a case would really help my business take off.
I hear a theremin.... ;D
that wasn't me.
Best of luck to you, CILLA.
Does this case involve immigration?
-
There may be some roadblocks planet wise tomorrow, DR CILLA LIZ, but they can be overcome.
-
Wasn't Emmy Gration one of Wyatt Earp's wives?
-
Good luck Cilla....
-
I like JRAND's fashion predictions and critiques (from awards nights).
Any more fashion wisdom to give up, Jack?
Oh George, just play along.... ;)
If you are an angel, you are a producer.
Well, if you insist! ;D
Wasn't Emmy Gration one of Wyatt Earp's wives?
No, the Emmys were last Sunday.
Does this case involve immigration?
Nope, it's a drug conspiracy
-
JRAND, do retrogrades usually involve delays and miscommunication, that sort of thing?
-
There may be some roadblocks planet wise tomorrow, DR CILLA LIZ, but they can be overcome.
Well the arrangements are being made tonight...if they are being made. I do know they were seeing a number of lawyers, but at the time they left my office, they were leaning toward me.
Just start thinking "I'm singin' in the rain, just singin in the rain..." do a little rain dance and have a good time. That is unless the rain will make you melt ;D
-
My guess was that there would be a few problems during rehearsal, BK would be tense and annoyed, but all would be worked out, and opening night would be just fine. Not perfect, but good.
Any other guesses?
-
JRAND's answering the phone--or typing a long post.
there aren't any H/k's there tonight, are there? Besides cast and crew, I mean.
I also miss all the funny stories from a certain Southwestern cherry coke lover......
He's still at work.
Yes very upsetting news DR TCB. Feel better vibes. ~~~~~~~~~~~
Now where are the posts about the Brain?
-
Nice dance TCB!!
-
DR TCB, I missed your medical news and had to go back and reread some posts. I think it's ridiculous that you have to be in pain for x number of months. I bet he'd have a different opinion if it was his shoulder. Sorry about that news
-
I guess we're just going to have to keep frenzying until someone tells us something.
-
Was it as good for you as it was for ______ ?
It isn't quite the same when you have to ask, "Was it as good for me, as it was for me?"
-
I wonder Tom, if you ripped a few ligaments in Dr Dolittle's bottom if he would feel the need to wait 4 - 6 months in agony before considering fixing the problem
-
My stomach is all butterflies.
-
ah Cilla and I think alike
-
DR Coleslaw, will you be at the final Brain performance as well?
-
Thank you Jennifer, vixmom, and Cillaliz.
-
ah Cilla and I think alike
I like your idea better. ;D
-
I was watching RANDOM HARVEST.....lovely movie.
-
If it's set tonight, all the better DR CILLA LIZ....
-
I am going to take Zach for a quick pee.
When I return, SOMEONE is going to have posted SOMETHING about tonight's performance of The Brain.
And that's a threat promise!
-
My guess is the congratulations are going like wildfire and the diet coke is flowing like water....and MR BK is giving notes.
-
What I don't understand is I went to see two surgeons. Isn't surgery what surgeons want to do?
-
DR Coleslaw, will you be at the final Brain performance as well?
Yes, indeedy! :) Can't wait to see IT and to meet y'all!
-
I think there shall be many many pages tonight as we frenzy waiting for news of the brain
-
LOL DR VIXMOM...
My pea see.
-
My stomach is all butterflies.
-
PAGE EIGHTEEN QUESTION MARK DANCE.........
-
I was watching RANDOM HARVEST.....lovely movie.
I thought that was one of DR Elmore's cheap videos.
-
And they are bee-yoo-tee-full, DR VIXMOM
-
What I don't understand is I went to see two surgeons. Isn't surgery what surgeons want to do?
Perhaps you mistakenly saw sturgeons instead of surgeons?
-
What I don't understand is I went to see two surgeons. Isn't surgery what surgeons want to do?
Maybe they want you to beg... ;)
-
Why are you all waiting. It's been Friday here for 13 hours.
-
What I don't understand is I went to see two surgeons. Isn't surgery what surgeons want to do?
why? When they can charge exorbinant rates for an office visit to tell you that they ain't gonna help you!
-
Perhaps you mistakenly saw sturgeons instead of surgeons?
I have a friend whos last name is Sturgeon...sometimes he says things that are a bit fishy
-
Maybe they want you to beg... ;)
Dr. Hunk I might consider begging. Dr. prick dick jerk - No.
-
Have the North Americans caught uo with the tragic news of NZ's little "Pumpkin?
-
Why are you all waiting. It's been Friday here for 13 hours.
well? Did you read the reviews in the morning paper?
-
Why are you all waiting. It's been Friday here for 13 hours.
So how was last night's opening performance of THE BRAIN?
-
Have the North Americans caught uo with the tragic news of NZ's little "Pumpkin?
No. Do tell
-
I did suggest that DR TCB emigrate to Canada and a good health system!
-
I found this http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10464377 (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10464377) about the Little Pumpkin. Sounds like a sad but all too familiar story.
-
Isn't Cason supposed to be home in bed by 11:00?
-
You drove to work? The way you were carrying on, I thought you had walked. :-\
I'm walking when I can. It turns out that I couldn't today. Tomorrow I'm going to Ikea with my sister and that will involve a LOT of walking...slow walking, but a lot of it.
-
Isn't Cason supposed to be home in bed by 11:00?
oh, was "home" part of the rule?
-
this one is more current...how sad http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10465034&pnum=2 (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10465034&pnum=2)
If I'm not in bed by 11 p.m. after a show, I usually go home.
-
oh, was "home" part of the rule?
Debby!!!
-
Pumpkin story is sad....and mysterious.
-
I did suggest that DR TCB emigrate to Canada and a good health system!
I have thought of that more than once... Vixdad's parents and sister and her family all live there.... the way the school system works seems better as well
-
Debby!!!
I mean "home" is in California, it seems such a commute....
what did you think I meant?
;D
-
Keeping us waiting must be BKs way of making sure there are lots and lots of posts today
-
Congrats to DR MATTH on his video upgrade!
Thank you, DR JRand. And I have to say that I couldn't be more pleased. Yes, it's going to take some time to get adjusted to the new set doing things differently from the old one. I'm going to have to spend some time reteaching my universal remote to understand keystrokes that the dedicated remote already knows. And there is still some calibration to come. I haven't even thought about the settings for the laserdisc machine and may not get to that for weeks.
More about tonight's viewing on the enw TV later.
-
LOL DR VIXMOM...
When I read this I read "My pee see" Tee hee
DR Matt H., ***CONGRATULATIONS*** on your new arrival.
[almost a Fiddler reference]
Thanks a lot, DR Singdaw! I have really enjoyed "test driving" it tonight. A more vigorous workout will definitely be upcoming.
-
Oh goodness, I forgot to congratulate MattH on his new arrival!!!
Congratulations Matt, may it bring you many years of joy.....
Pumpkin story is sad....and mysterious.
That's very sad. :(
-
Pumpkin story is sad....and mysterious.
Not much mystery now.
Pumpkin's father is in the USA
Pumpkin's mother was in the trunk of the car at their home.
Pumpkin has an older sister who left 7 years ago.
Pumpkin's Grandmother is coming from China to collect her.
(At least Pumpkin knows her. The Sister is also willing to take Pumpkin)
Very sad.
-
Yes Congrats Matt H.
-
well he's a dedicated teevee viewer, his remote needs to have a sense of commitment as well!!
So, what are you doing with your old TV?
-
Yes, MattH, congratulations on the new bundle of joy!
I felt QUITE joyful quite a few times tonight as I fed the set various test discs. More about them in a minute.
-
You could raffle it off right here!!
-
I caught a delightful musical comedy entertainment tonight called The Brian From Planet X. I don't know if you've heard of it, but it was filled with delights: driving and infectious melodies, rendered in brilliant orchestrations by a very fine band. And the performances of two young man were particularly captivating: No, I don't mean the ones in the skimpy trunks. Cason Murphy and Benjamin Clark had all sorts of funny takes, and appealing voices. I also liked the pre-zap parents, and the business of the flopping rag-doll of a girl was priceless. Very glad I went.
I must be tired! I read: tears of joy?!
-
Oh DR TOMovOZ.....I am so sad.....that story is horrific.
-
YEAH!!! The first NYMF Brain review! Thanks DR Noel
-
So, what are you doing with your old TV?
He is selling it to his UPS man (did I remember that right?)
-
Of course I hope DR Ron does not read the Pumpkin story or posts. None of us knows her so it is of no interest. Just part of life.
(Smile Ron).
-
Congrats MattH
HURRAH!!! A BRAIN RAVE!!!!
-
So, what are you doing with your old TV?
When my cable service was interrupted last week, the cable repairman came inside after he finished his work outside just to make sure the signal was working. He saw the old set and saw the picture when it came up, and was very impressed. I mentioned to him that I was on the verge of buying a new one and he offered to buy mine then and there when I was ready. He gave me his home and cell phone numbers, and now it's just a matter of calling him once I'm sure my new set is burned in and not going to die after a week or use.
-
He is selling it to his UPS man (did I remember that right?)
Oh, I think I remember that, now.
-
Yes, DR Noel, thanks for posting about the show tonight. :)
-
The cable guy, not the UPS guy....
I knew it was a traveling guy!!
Great news Noel!!!
Close but not quite. See previous message.
And thanks DRs Vixmom, Cillaliz, and DakottaCelt for the good wishes. New toys like this certainly do bring out the kid in me! ;D
-
Well, I'm finally leaving work now. Off to dinner! Nice first "Brain" review, too! :D
-
Thanks to DR NOEL!!!
-
Oh, I think I remember that, now.
Ditto. But it hadn't registered until other DRs recalled it for me.
Whew! At last. Thank you, Noel.
Oh man, I might have to join the local peace protesters. The young man I just saw speaking on the news is adorable
-
Hmmm...
DR MBarnum's magic DVD site still doesn't have The Carol Burnett Show... :(
-
I sometimes thinkl I must travel to Dixie to come a view some movie on your set, I feel it would definitely be worth the trip!
I would like to meet you too!!
-
I began my evening watching an anamorphic DVD - another BONES episode but the first on the new set. It was the one with Zach getting his doctorate and Brennan finally seeing her father again after many years of separation. Ryan O'Neal plays her dad.
-
Bill Clinton is on Jon Stewart!
-
I sometimes thinkl I must travel to Dixie to come a view some movie on your set, I feel it would definitely be worth the trip!
Love me; love my set! ;D
-
LOL, I'm watching another Hillary commercial. This one with kids, holding babies
-
Bill Clinton is on Jon Stewart!
I wonder who is enjoying it more? :P
-
MattH, did you see me mention that the old TV series website has ELLERY QUEEN - The Series available?
-
Bill Clinton is on Jon Stewart!
Does that man have NO control whatsoever? ;)
-
Next I needed to recalibrate my PS3 (blu-ray player) so that it could send 1080p signals to the set since I now have one that can accept them. Once I got that switched over, I put in CHICAGO on Blu-ray and played "They Both Reached for the Gun," "Roxie," and "Hot Honey Rag" to see what true 1080p HD would look like. Need I say it roasted my eye sockets. Wow! I was in sheer heaven, and I wanted to watch an entire movie, but I had a DVD obligation I had to get under my belt tonight.
-
MattH, did you see me mention that the old TV series website has ELLERY QUEEN - The Series available?
Yes, and thank you, DR TCB. I copied the address and will go there once I finish up here. Looking forward to seeing what's there.
-
I have not seen any campaign ads except for the moveon.org one bashing Sen. Norm Coleman from Minnesota.
-
They don't have DECEMBER BRIDE! One of my all-time favorite shows.
TCB, you can find a nice set of December Bride episodes here....http://www.ioffer.com/i/DECEMBER-BRIDE-50-s-Classic-TV-24-Episodes-DVD-15175117 (http://www.ioffer.com/i/DECEMBER-BRIDE-50-s-Classic-TV-24-Episodes-DVD-15175117)
-
LOL, I'm watching another Hillary commercial. This one with kids, holding babies
How old are those kids?
-
How old are those kids?
Old enough to know better. ;)
-
That is someone MBarnum should interview - Gary Conway. BURKE'S LAW, LAND OF THE GIANTS.
Oh Hell, I am sure he has already had him.
I do wish! However I have interviewed Gary's LAND OF THE GIANTS co-star Don Marshall.
-
The campaign ads started here about 6 months ago. They will end after then next presidential election is over. I don't answer my phone from about 5 PM to 9 PM because it's a candidate or like tonight when I so foolishly picked it up, someone asking me who I'm going to caucus for. this time I'm telling them all I'm undecided, but I may start telling them a different person every time.
-
How old are those kids?
LOL, I meant Hillary is surrounded by kids and Hillary is holding babies
-
We really dont have primaries up here. They tend to ignore us. How ever the Reps are really active. I am lucky for I am not home at night and dont get phone calls since I work. I have seen a McCain add and the local parties are getting nasty. ND has a governor and a senate seat in the next election.
-
Upside down, no doubt.
-
Thanks, Mike.
Hillary is holding babies
I wonder if Butterfly McQueen is one of her advisors.
Next, I watched THE 3 PENNY OPERA (as it's written on the cover art). I had never seen this film before, and it was something else.
First, the aspect ratio is narrower than the usual old Academy ratio of 1.33:1. Criterion lists it as 1.19:1, almost a square image which was very narrow and certainly cramped some of the compositions.
Like most musicals done then, the actors sang live rather than prerecording their vocals, so the numbers are very static since they don't move around much.
Wow! Lots of music is missing, and the story, especially the ending, is very different. Lucy Brown's stuff is gone with the wind (a Victor Fleming reference). It's funny hearing Lenya sing with a soprano voice. My, she was so young! The actress playing Polly talks more than she sings, but when you hear her brittle voice, it's easy to see why. She's no Jo Sullivan!
The transfer looks very good for a film that's 76 years old. Sound is adequate but naturally lacks any real fidelity.
-
Did I mention Callie had her follow-up appointment today? She was not at all pleased to see the people at "That place". She has to have meds 3 times a day now, we're adding another dose of lactalose right before bed time. Other than that I'm just supposed to keep an eye on her. She's doing much better and was THRILLED to leave the vet. If I have already mentioned this.....Never mind.
-
DR MBarnum, have you personally ordered from that website? Are they reliable, responsive, etc.? I only ask because that other site [tvboxset.com] appears to be a sham.
I did not know anything about ioffer.com...that bears investigating, too!
-
Bill Clinton has been to ND
George Dubya was also and my name was on the list of those who were not allowed to attend. I suspect it may be due to my scathing letter about Iraq to the local paper.
-
If I have already mentioned this.....Never mind.
You hadn't, and thanks for the update. Great news! :)
-
glad to hear that she is doing better...
-
Thanks for the CALLIE update, DRCILLALIZ
-
I played around with TV-HD next. GREY'S ANATOMY was on, so I watched part of the last half hour over cable and part using the over-the-air digital tuner. Looked identical in quality ionce I got both inputs calibrated.
-
NOt that I would have attended but I was alerted by a freind whose name was also on the list.
-
Working the next three days.
-
Upside down, no doubt.
Diana Ross sang "Upside Down"
No Doubt sang "Don't Speak"
-
You troublemaker you, DakotaCelt!
-
I didn't see it posted earlier, Cillaliz. Glad to hear the good news about Callie.
-
Next, I watched today's AS THE WORLD TURNS, a 480i broadcast. Obviously not as sharp as any high def broadcast. It was watchable, but these modern HDTVs really like progressive signals if they can get them. TCM, which is broadcast in 480p over my cable system, looked very good. I watched a tiny bit of RANDOM HARVEST.
-
You troublemaker you, DakotaCelt!
She's a rabble rouser, yessiree!
-
It sounds like you have to be a rocket scientist to purchase and use of of these newfangled televisions.
-
You troublemaker you, DakotaCelt!
Dont tell DBF, I have him convinced that I am pure sweet and innocent!
-
As for what was going on with AS THE WORLD TURNS. The gay storyline was present. Looks like Noah and Luke may be able to be friends or even more. I'm glad they didn't draw out the charade with Maddie, unfair to her and dull for the audience.
The colonel, of course, is a total loon. Who knows what he's going to do next.
-
Great new, Cillaliz.
-
I would like to hear more about The Brain, but as it is I'm going to be useless at work tomorrow, and I'll be up late into tomorrow night singing Kol Nidre services.
So, very reluctantly, I bid you all adieu until the morrow.
-
I was even polite and I did not even call him an idiotic moron... I just said his policy was not inspired and did not represent the position of most Americans.
-
It sounds like you have to be a rocket scientist to purchase and use of of these newfangled televisions.
I honestly don't know how some people ever get things right because they ARE complicated.
But, most people don't have nearly as much equipment to hook up to it and try to make look decent.
-
Good night singdaw!!
-
I ended the evening going back to The 3 PENNY OPERA and beginning to watch the special features. It's a two disc set. The second disc has the French language version of the movie with a totally different set of actors but filmed by the same director. (They were going to make a third version in English, but ran out of money.)
-
Well, now that New York reporter, Noel, has checked in, and there is no sign of any other Brainiacs...
I am going to bed and take my pain pills for my non-existant pain in my shoulder - Because I can!
-
I am off to dreamland myself.....and will check for news in the morning!
-
pain free thoughts and vibes for you tcb
-
Great new, Cillaliz.
Really, what's wrong with the old Cillaliz? ;D
-
Good night Jrand!
-
DR MBarnum, have you personally ordered from that website? Are they reliable, responsive, etc.? I only ask because that other site [tvboxset.com] appears to be a sham.
I did not know anything about ioffer.com...that bears investigating, too!
DR Singdaw, I have not ordered anything from that website...once I found iOffer.com I found every TV show imaginable and have never looked back. iOffer.com is just sort of like Ebay...but Ebay no longer allows anyone to sell "gray market" dvds...so Ioffer is the place to get all of your as yet officially unreleased TV shows.
I would check out iOffer first.
-
I will soon be taking my codine cough syrup so I can sleep without hacking and hacking
-
It sounds like you have to be a rocket scientist to purchase and use of of these newfangled televisions.
That is what I was thinking...I am not so sure I want to get one now.
-
I suppose I will have to wait until tomorrow as well to hear any Brain news. It is now time to watch SURVIVOR and then off myself to bed.
-
I spy FJL - did you see the BRAIN tonight?
-
Really, what's wrong with the old Cillaliz? ;D
too far away!
-
FJL!
FJL!!
FJL!!!
-
I am heading out shortly. I am leaving work early since I had to come in early. Hopefully when I check in later, we will have heard from the other Brainiacs....
-
too far away!
;D But I'll see you soon!
-
Just heard from Jane. I let her tell the details but it sounds like pretty good news for Sherlock.
-
this is creepy
-
;D But I'll see you soon!
See that's the New Cillaliz we like, the New York one!!! ;D
-
Good news about Sherlock.
-
Heading down myself for some much needed sleep.
Good Night!
-
See that's the New Cillaliz we like, the New York one!!! ;D
Awww thanks, Vixmom :)
-
If we can get to post 759 we'll be in the top 10
-
I heard that! :P
I'm glad you did. :P
-
When do you head to NYC, DR MusicGuy? Let me know so I can check my schedule for an airport run.
-
I didn't see BRAIN tonight, although I dropped by just before the show to say hi to BK. I also brought some chocolates (finally) for Miss Karen, which I asked Bk to give Cason for Miss karen, and also some chocolate as an opening nigth gift for Bk and belated borthday chocolates for elmore. (I think I gave elmore the wrong chocolates, so BK may want to swap his chocolates with elmore, unless they've been eaten already.)
But Julie saw BRAIN tonight and was full of very high praise for the show and how it went.
-
When does Starfighter open?
-
Starfighter opens September 28th. I think that's the performance you're coming to, right, Cilla?
-
Cool! I forgot that was opening night. Yes, Sam and I have tickets for the 28th. We're supposed to fly in about 6 hours before the show, so we should make it there in time
-
Fred, are there going to be "official reviews" of the NYMF shows anywhere?
-
Thanks for the report from Julie on Brain. Sounds like it was a good night.
-
I just don't think I can stay up any more I am so tired
-
When do you head to NYC, DR MusicGuy? Let me know so I can check my schedule for an airport run.
Hi dear DR Laura.....it is on this coming Tuesday the 25th, and we would need to leave my house at 7:30 AM . Does that sound do-able for you? :)
-
I guess the NOTES will be on Pacific time tonight
-
I spy Elmore
-
Dear Esteemed (and probably tuckered out) BK ---
Damn it ... Damn it all to hell ... We want word of how the evening went, who did what, audience reaction, details, grit,...
and PICTURES... we want pictures ! ;D
I haven't been so keyed-up since wanting a phone call telling me that I had been accepted to appear on ROCKET TO STARDOM !
-
OK ELMO....spill...
How did everything go???????????
And on this earthly plain,........pancakes lovely pancakes !! ;D
Brain news!
brain news!!
brain news!!!
-
I'm back from a lovely opening night party at Angus McIndoe. I think the show went amazingly well, not because it isn't wonderful but because so many anticipated glitches didn't occur. The sound problems were solved and the band sounded clear and bright, and the musicians danced, no they boogied, right along with the cast and action; the cast was having fun, I do believe, but more importantly, I think the audience for the most part had a lot of fun. My friends seemd to like it a lot, and they can be very critical. I knew there was no problem with BK's direction but I was worried over how the scene changes would go and they mostly flowed quite well.
As to the cast, I think the characters are endearing and played by ingratiatng actors with a lot of skills they get to show off, and I want this show to run for a long long time.
The party was wonderful; I met lots of friends and family of the cast, and I was thrilled that our DR Jose came along. I enjoyed everyone's company and I love this company.
Are we a hit? I hope so, but I'm too close to the production.
-
Can't you stowaway in his suitcase?
If I lost a hundred pounds, maybe.
-
And on this earthly plain,........pancakes lovely pancakes !! ;D
;D
-
Dearest dearest Larry...... Thank you so much for the first report. And even more importantly.....
belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY hugs are sent to you !!
-
If I lost a hundred pounds, maybe.
Sounds like he just needs a bigger suitcase
-
DR Elmore, thanks for the report, sounds like it was a wonderful evening
-
Oh I am so pleased it all went well...did the cordless mike show up? Did the brain head work?
I worried about these things all day at work!
-
Sounds like he just needs a bigger suitcase
exactly!!!
-
I'm so happy to have read DR elmore's positive post about BRAIN's opening night! May every night just get better and better! We already know that it's B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T!
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]CONGRATS BRIANIACS![/move]
-
Sounds like a successful opening night!
-
Laura, is that a new Sandra quote?
-
DR MusicGuy ~ I'm so excited that you're gonna be there on the 26th -- get out the steamer trunk and pack DR Laura!
-
Came back for a moment just in time for THE ELMORE REPORT.
-
Oh I am so pleased it all went well...did the cordless mike show up? Did the brain head work?
I worried about these things all day at work!
I think the Brain head works, but I have no information on the mike.
To me a successful opening night would have producers with contracts lined up along the side of the theatre waiting for the option.
-
How exactly does that all work anyway? I mean I understand that this is an opportunity for peoplr to showcase their work, but what is the actauk mechanics of getting it from NYMF to Broadway?
-
Laura, is that a new Sandra quote?
No. I heard myself saying that to Joshie. He was playing with the drawstring on my jammies.
-
Happy late night to everyone, and hello!
-
Oh I am so pleased it all went well...did the cordless mike show up? Did the brain head work?
I worried about these things all day
Me, too! How did the costumes turn out? How large was the crowd? Was it a good crowd? How did The Brain Tap go? How was the set, the lighting? We want details, details -- ALL the details!!
-
You know, only twenty more posts about THE BRAIN will bring us to an even 700. . .
-
Well, tomorrow could be a VERY busy day. If I get the new case, there will be a hearing in the afternoon and of course, I need to be there first in the morning....so time to medicate Callie and get some sleep
-
I'm so sorry I've been here so infrequently. It's just been very crazy, and by the time I get home and the day is over, I'm completely exhausted and just fall into bed.
-
today at work I could not think of my coworkers name... a common complaint of mine, I constantly lose the names of people, even those I live with
the cowrker teasinghly told me I had Alzheimers and I replied "I don't have Alzheimers, I am just wearing the pants'
She was confused.
Hi Miz cutie-Karen....
Because the 26th performance is a 4:30 PM start time, I'm hoping a number of us can go out for eats afterwards.... hopefully Boo-key can come along too. And dear Esteemed BK has to come also, because my hickey has totally faded away ! ;)
-
I'm so sorry I've been here so infrequently. It's just been very crazy, and by the time I get home and the day is over, I'm completely exhausted and just fall into bed.
enough excuses, you are forgiven...
how was the show???!!!!!!!!!!
GET THE CASE VIBES FOR CILLALIZ!!!!!
-
LOL, Vixmom!
But tonight, I had to stay up long enough to come say hello, and to report on the very successful opening night of Brain From Planet X.
What a fun show! The cast was terrific - everyone was funny, prepared, managed to create their own interesting characters (not always easy with spoof), and looked very confident and assured up there. Which I know from experience is not easy. NYMF shows get so little time in the venue to prepare, tech and rehearse. But from the audience, there were absolutely no technical glitches that I could detect. The show ran seemlessly, and we all got to just sit back, relax and enjoy the experience. Loved the Brain Tap number. Congrats to bk and to everyone involved in the show. I'll be seeing it again on the 30th.
Now, off to sleep! Starfighter rehearsals in the morning, with many things to attend to before they begin.
Back and have read through all twenty-three wonderful pages of posts, for which I am very grateful.
I have no idea how this evening went. The day was fascinating, and I wish we hadn't had to do a complete run-through just three hours before show time, because act one played a little slower (the slowest it's ever been, time-wise) than I care for and some of the beats were off and a few moments reverted back to old playing ways - that will all be corrected for tonight's performance. In fact, I went back at intermission and told everyone to talk faster and notch up the energy (partially because the sound was a little low for my tastes in act one), and act two did indeed play better and had more energy and ran it's usual fifty-one minutes.
But, I'll have more details in the notes I must now write.
And yes, I don't mind reading positive comments, but I would prefer to have the negatives kept away for now.
Dixie Bell, that lovable pooch, is Abby Normal!
Did I mention Callie had her follow-up appointment today? She was not at all pleased to see the people at "That place". She has to have meds 3 times a day now, we're adding another dose of lactalose right before bed time. Other than that I'm just supposed to keep an eye on her. She's doing much better and was THRILLED to leave the vet. If I have already mentioned this.....Never mind.
Great news!
-
Very pleased to hear of its success!!
I just wish I could be there to see.... I am there in spirit...
If you had read all the posts, Miss K, you'd know that I gave Bk two boxes of chocolates - one for him and Adriana, and the other to give to Cason to give to you.
The Flour will have to wait.
Well, who did you give my margarita to? Is it a big box or little box -- and is it full or empty?
-
vixmom - I actually committed a similar faux pas with our own Adriana, who looked absolutely stunning tonight (she is always beautiful, but was movie-star-stunning for tonight's opening night), and whom I confused with and accidentally called by the name of a glamorous Broadway actress Skip and I know but hadn't seen in quite a while.
-
I have really enjoyed "test driving" it tonight. A more vigorous workout will definitely be upcoming.
Must have been quite a date!
Adriana is a pretty girl..
Wait a minute! You can't run off to read the notes when we're sitting here waiting for detailed Brain reports. We want all the details on why it was wonderful -- you know, the who, what, when, where, why and how.
Miss Karen - You certain know how tequila happy mood, don't you?
Karen, my workstudy student came up withe their own version last night (WEdnesday) for Brain Tap. IT was a riot and I wish I would have had a camera.
They really liked the music...
Listening to THE BRAIN as we wait for notes and reports...
