The week is fast winding down, and I need to be bright-eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow.

And lunch tomorrow (or, today, dependent upon when you are reading this) will be wonderful:

Thursday has gone from being "Meat Loaf Thursday" to "Shrimp Bisque Thursday."

Of course, the "meat loaf Thursdays" stopped when  I stopped going to the Museum late last year and haven't had any urge to go back.  Perhaps, one day when their menu changes a bit.

Fortunately, that didn't happen, although with the composer/music director not giving us any music, it was a struggle. ;)

And the word of the day is: MORGANATIC!
When Fay learned that her marriage to Prince Pellin could never be anything but MORGANATIC, she let out a TRAGIC MOAN so loud that those standing outside her rooms thought that she and the Prince had gone ahead and crowned each other.

Had a wonderful time at Such Good Friends last night. Some great performances (the three leads were excellent) and the portions of the show dealing with the hearings and the aftermath were scary/moving/sad, etc. Thanks for the show Noel. I'm glad the story is still being told.

As always it was so good to see Larry. We walked with him to the restaurant and then on to the 8th Avenue subway (my least favorite line in the entire system) where we shared platform space with a very brave rat. For some reason (actually I know the reason but I won't go into it here ) I can deal with mice but I HATE, HATE, HATE rats. I turned away so I couldn't see the little beast and then he went into one of the many holes on the wall. Then he started poking his whiskered little face out of said hole as if to say, ha, ha you big sissy! Anthony was very supportive and ushered me on to the train. Luckily the rat decided not to go downtown and stayed on the platform. We got off at 14th Street and proceeded home where I brushed my teeth, undressed, climbed into bed and fell asleep. And now I'm back in my usual space and working on the M.D. Anderson Foundation. Mr. Bremer has been finished and now Mr. Anderson needs some attention.

Tomorrow DR Ginny will be here, not on the 3rd floor where I work but in our offices anyway, on the 2nd floor. Perhaps I will have a chance to saunter downstairs and say hello.

My favorite B movie has to be HERCULES UNCHAINED, for 2 reasons: 1) Mystery Science Theater went to Town on it, but more importantly,2) when it was first released in the USA, one of the Boston papers sponsored a coloring contest, so by coloring a dozen or so pictures of Hercules and friends, I won a Hercules bike-I was the first kid on my block to own an English bike.....Wasn't Spider Baby a big hit for Eartha Kitt?

Noel, the Vixter is re-reading her Harry Potter books,  Last night she was reading a passage that dealt with a  wizard trial and she  suddenly looked up and said  "OH! I understand this now! He's naming names!!!![/b]"

The Vixter has not yet studied this era of history and was shocked by the storyline.  She wanted to know how you "made this up", and was shocked all over again when I explained that the McCarthy hearings had actually happened.

I think that I shall have to show her  Woody Allen's The Front and a  good version of The Crucible , any suggestions DRs?

"OH! I understand this now! He's naming names!!!![/b]"

The Vixter has not yet studied this era of history and was shocked by the storyline.  She wanted to know how you "made this up", and was shocked all over again when I explained that the McCarthy hearings had actually happened.

How gratifying to hear this, Vixmom.  Long ago, when you asked whether Such Good Friends might be appropriate for a girl the Vixter's age, I answered that you'd regret not bringing her if you didn't, thinking it might be the right time in her life to introduce her to a darker side of America's history, and that the best way to do this was through my show.  (And that's not bragging.  Which way would you prefer, history lesson or musical comedy?)

Gratifying, too, to see so many HHW denizens, starting with BK himself, at various performances - with more to come Saturday at 1 p.m.  I was a little unsure about how you'd react to my handful of promotional announcements.  Too many would be annoying, too few, and certain DRs might miss the show because the show times hadn't "stuck" in their brains.  I know now, from DR Jose's admission, that my reminding you all of the times was done too rarely.

And I feel I've not made a big enough deal of how much your support means to me, seemingly distracted by the glittering array of celebrities who've also attended (last night, Stephen Schwartz, Jack Klugman).  I think it's remarkable that you'd take a chance on a show by a guy you just know from a smattering of overly long posts on this board.  And I'm very grateful to all the DRs who attended.

...I explained that the McCarthy hearings had actually happened.

Yes McCarthy did hold hearings and they had absolutely nothing to do with the Hollywood Black List - the events depicted in SGF!

Senator McCarthy held Senate hearings aimed at the Army in 1953/54. The Hollywood Blacklist was the result of hearings held by  the House Unamerican Activites Committee in 1949 (and later in 1951). The Red Channels list was published in 1950.

You can lay a lot of bad things on McCarthy's doorstep, but the Hollywood Blacklist is not one of them!

Tonight is another HUGE Thursday night for TV. The season premiere of SUPERNATURAL is tonight. I'm letting SUPERNATURAL go for now. It's one of the shows the CW does rerun during the season, so I figure I can catch up to it in HD when other shows are rerunning something else. My only other alternative is to have my DVD recorder get the SD version of the show on its hard drive, and I'd rather see the show in HD.

(The 9 p.m. time slot is already full for me with THE OFFICE, GREY'S ANATOMY, and CSI, the only time during the week that four shows I want to watch all land in the same timeslot.)

'HEROES' SPOILAGE

Regarding Monday evening's episode of "Heroes", did anyone else find it a bit odd that neither Claire nor her father, Noah, called the police to report her stolen vehicle?

It was, "Oh, please don't be mad.  My car was stolen.  I hope that doesn't mean you won't get me another car."

I've been chewing on this for three days...and it bothers me.

Thursday morning greetings!  DH Richard left quietly for morning prayer at St. Mary's and I didn't wake up until he returned at 9:30 with breakfast from Amy's Bread - a banana nut muffin and a bluberry/orange scone, each of which we split.  My throat is still sore, so he's treating me with Ricola, Cepacol, Tylenol, and Zyrtec.

We have dinner plans tonight with Doug & Jon, the friends who accompanied us to The Brain.  Maybe we'll go shopping (well, I'll shop, while Richard sits nearby and reads a book!), if I can get myself in gear.

DR Elmore - thanks for mentioning the bank.  Today's payday for me and I need to check on my automatic deposit and pay a bill.

Well, the fact that I was told over an hour ago that things would be righted and still aren't has put a big damper on my running down to Tekserve to buy a new Mac today.  It can indeed be accomplished tomorrow but I am not pleased.

So many low, low, low budget films to choose from...and some of them are very good...but one that always stands out for me is THIS IS NOT A TEST (1962) starring my interviewee Seamon Glass as a police officer who attempts to lead several stranded motorists to safety before an impending atomic attack on California.

Despite it's lack of a budget and some questionable acting the film does make quite an impact.

Jonathan and Jackie were the original Seymour and Audrey in Roger Corman's "Little Shop of Horrors"....among other B movies.

Jackie was married for many years to Ken Berry.  She also appeared in the last couple of seasons of "The Doris Day Show" as Doris' office friend.  ;D

Yes, I did find that odd. I also thought it incredibloy stupid of Claire to leave the car unlocked (didn't she leave the keys inside, too?). Who does that nowadays?

Well, I'm not certain about the keys.  She had the "clicker" with which she could unlock the doors.  While talking to her male classmate, she pointed it at the space where her car was...and when she didn't hear anything, she looked and saw that the car was gone.  I always figured folks kept their keys on those clickers.

RE: the new tv shows i watched this week (no spoilers).

Reaper: I"m not sure about this show. I thought it was just okay last week (but really improved near the end). I liked it a bit less this week. I like the lead guy. But the storyline was mostly boring to me. A few funny moments. But i'm not sure i will keep watching.

Private Practice: I agree with DR MattH. This show is just okay to me. The thing is i love audra mcdonald, taye diggs, and amy brennamen (sp?). And i even like kate walsh and the other 2 males. But the show is just okay for me. It should be great with all the talent.

And it's not even that the stories were that boring. they were interesting. But the whole set-up is rather boring (at the well-ness center).

Dirty Sexy Money: I liked it this week (but not as much as last week).  But if it weren't for the fabulous lead i'm not sure i would continue watching.

The rich family is eccentric and weird.  But i'm just not sure if they will be able to keep it interesting.  The mystery about the father and the plane is sort of interesting.  But most of the rich kids are obnoxious and unlikeable.

I have not seen Chuck yet this week.  But so far the only shows i absolutely love are Gossip Girl  and Pushing Daisies.

Sometimes yes, sometimes, no! On my series Ford the ignition key will NOT operate the door locks! (You can then leave the key with an attendant and he can't gain access to the glove box!) Also, ignition keys that do not operate door locks can be duplicated at any key shop - dual purpose (door & ignition) can only be had at an authorized Ford dealer, and cost about $70 (because the dealer has to program them for your particular door lock).

Hi lovelies and studlies..... It was a lovely cool, mild morning here in Phoenix.  Can you believe it??!!  We are glad... we are very glad.

It was so good to see the entire production of "The Brain" and I think I managed to hit it on a performance where there were very few tech glitches.  The sound was the best balance and clarity between all of the band parts, and then between band and vocals.... very wonderful.

And as usual, the various catchy "hooks" of the show are burned into my mind for the next number of weeks.  I don't think the H/Ks in NYC believed me when I told them that if I am listening to the CD in my car of the title track, when it comes to the final "stinger" at the end I have to physically do "Kimmel Hands" as I drive.  I have gotten some most interesting reactions.........but so far, not arrested.

I think it's mostly bread in the book.

After a little research, I think that Monkey Cake may be called Hummingbird Cake in other areas of the country.  Here's one recipe I found for that :
Hummingbird Cake
From Carroll Pellegrinelli,

To me a Hummingbird Cake is similar to a carrot cake substituting bananas for carrots.
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
---
2 cups bananas, chopped
1 cup chopped nuts, lightly toasted
1-1/2 cups vegetable oil
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1-8 ounce can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 can cream cheese frosting (optional)
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour Bundt pan.
In a large bowl, with a wire whisk combine the first 6 ingredients. By hand, add remaining ingredients except frosting. Stir until just combined (like making quick bread).
Pour batter into pan.
Bake for 65 to 70 minutes or until done. Cool in pan on cake rack for 25-30 minutes. Remove from pan to cool completely on rack. Optional glaze instructions: Place frosting in microwavable container. Microwave for 10 to 15 seconds. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over completely cooled cake

Such Good Friends plays one more performance Saturday, 10/6, 2007 @ 1pm
Julia Miles Theatre, 424 W. 55.Tickets are $20

Technically, the phrase "McCarthy hearings" should only be applied to the Senate's pursuit of subversives in the army and the Department of State.  But that's an extremely fine point.  It was Joe McCarthy's allies in the House who grilled entertainers in the House hearings, inspired by McCarthy's many speeches suggesting (without a shred of evidence) that Soviet Communists were infiltrating every aspect of American society, including entertainment on screens large and small.  In Such Good Friends, characters react to the news that McCarthy has cast aspersions on an Army general, and the unseen inquisitor has a southern accent, quite distinct from McCarthy's Wisconsin drawl.

This recipe is from Southern Living. It first ran in the magazine in February 1978 but has been repeated many times since because it's so popular. It was elected favorite recipe ever in 1990 and has won blue ribbons at several county fairs across the South. It was submitted by Mrs. L. H. Wiggins, Greensboro, NC. (I both love and detest Mrs. Wiggins because I have to make this cake about four times every holiday season by popular demand. I've made it so long now that I'm bored with it but everyone insists on it. So beware of the danger before you try it!)

Hummingbird Cake

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 (8-oz) can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 cup chopped pecans (you can also use walnuts - the taste is the same and they are usually cheaper)
1 3/4 cup mashed bananas (about three bananas)
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Cream Cheese Frosting

Combine first five ingredients in a large bowl; add eggs and oil, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Do not beat. Stir in vanilla, pineapple, 1 cup pecans and bananas.

Pour batter into three greased and floured nine-inch round cakepans. Bake at 350 degrees for 23 to 28 minutes or till a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.

Stir 1/2 cup pecans into cream cheese frosting, if desired, or reserve them to sprinkle over the top of the frosted cake. Spread frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake. (It's best to mix the pecans in because then no one will see the results if any crumbs get in the frosting. Also, I sometimes decorate the edge of the cake with pecan halves in a circle.)

Cream Cheese Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 (16-oz) package powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp vanilla extract

Cream butter and cream cheese. Gradually add powdered sugar, beat until mixture is light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla. (I always double the frosting recipe because I can't tolerate a lightly frosted cake.)

The plumber has arrived, assessed the kitchen sink problems, fixed what he could, told me he was recommending a new sink - after 27 years here I could use one! - and departed.  I did some writing on several reports for the Toyland project, and my online banking is back.  Al in all, not a bad afternoon.

Tomorrow morning, a new iMac!

Has anyone else been reading all those admissions from the Soviet scientist regarding the true story of Sputnik and the start of the space race.  What I loved was the fact that all of us who went on our porches and into our backyards to view Sputnik floating overhead; were actually seeing the discarded second stage of the booster rocket.  LOL  The truth at last! ;D

...by McCarthy's many speeches suggesting (without a shred of evidence) that Soviet Communists were infiltrating every aspect of American society, including entertainment on screens large and small.

Which, in fact, they were - but not near to the panic-evoking extent of McCarthy's allegations. Same thing is happening today! Rep Tom Tancredo and Neo-Fascist Screech Owl Michelle Malkin would have us believe that the borders are being over-run by hoards of illegal immigrants hell bent on raping, pillaging and wrecking wanton destruction on our besieged American Society; well, yes, the boarder is breeched, some "illegals" have committed crimes (but so have some Irish Catholic Priests). DR Matt H or Any Other DR-

I must admit I'm an Alan Ladd fan.

When will Paramount or The Powers To Be release an ALAN LADD Collection.

In MHO -Long-Long over due

THIS GUN FOR HIRE was released some years ago and sold very poorly from what I understand. Further plans for Alan Ladd kind of evaporated after that.

I myself bought SHANE in a Wal-Mart cutout bin for next to nothing.

I guess what bothered me most about that car stuff in HEROES is how UNBOTHERED they were about it. I know they're hiding, trying to blend in, but I still would have thought it would have gotten more than a shrug and "I hope this won't keep you from buying me another car" comment. Really? Ya think?

RE: DR RonP's question about HEROES

SPOILERS from this week's show.

The question was why claire didn't call the police when her car went missing. I suppose they figured that when you are on the run and trying not to stick out that it is not prudent to call the police.

Who knows maybe they still will. But i didn't find it that odd.

SPOILER

DR Jennifer, I appreciate your input.

My thing is that if their being "on the run" were the issue, they would not have (1) enrolled Claire into high school or (2) bought her a car, which would have required registration, license plates, insurance, etc., or (3) have Noah working and earning a paycheck from which SSI and taxes would be extracted.

I presume their aliases are solid and, therefore, calling the police over a stolen car shouldn't be a cause for concern.

I got my Mickey-Judy box set finally today. What a beautiful set! Haven't had time to look at a thing, of course, but it's very clear this set was put together with care and love.

Of course, Warners really has only enough Judy for one more box - Early Judy - with her programmers and LITTLE NELLIE KELLY. (I'm sure her two Andy Hardy appearances so far unreleased will go into the Andy Hardy box set.

The most recent featurette pertained to the episode "Silent Night" which featured two stories: one with Marlee Matlin and other deaf actors enacting a kidnapping story (very effectively done) and the other with Sasha Cohen playing an Olympic-level skater whose best skater friend was found dead at the rink prior to a competition.

Interesting that in the Marlee Matlin story, the actor playing the police interpreter for the deaf was one of the "Bachelor" guys. Very attractive and a superb signer.

I mostly don't like 30 Rock because of the people in it (Tina Fey in particular bugs me) and the conceit of the premise....an NBC show about an NBC show...

So....I will watch Ugly Betty or Smallville.

PUSHING DAISIES won its hour handily. The new Kelsey Grammer sitcom sank to fourth in the timeslot.

CRIMINAL MINDS returns to #1 at 9 p.m. (and had the largest audience of the night). PRIVATE PRACTICE finished second in total viewers but won the hour in ages 18-49.

CSI: NY finished first in the time slot followed by DIRTY SEXY MONEY and LIFE (in that order).

I watched the trailer - who knows if the film itself will be good, but the trailer, like ALL trailers today, is crap from start to finish, filled with loud music (the first half not even by Mr. Sondheim), overcutting, all that inane whispering that actors do today in lieu of actually giving a performance (as George also pointed out above), exactly two lines of sung music (and not really, since it's Epiphany, which is spoken/sung) and CGI bursting from every shot.

Best Friends
Three Cups of Tea

We are now home relaxing and awaiting the call from our friends that they are here to pick us up, on foot, for our dinner engagement.

I am waiting while Dragon Naturally Speaking for Vista downloads. It's a HUGE download, but it's worth it.  It takes awhile to train it, but it was my secretary for the last year or so at the old office.  I don't use it for letters, but for notes etc it's great. I can't wait to have it working again.  (Since I needed an updated version, I can keep the old one on my XP at home)

I might do "The Bunny Hop", though.

I might indulge in "Ballin' the Jack" (TCB, sledgejaw...hush!).

I could even muster up a "Charleston".

But in general, I won't dance.

"First you put your two knees close up tight
Then you sway them to the left, then you sway them to the right
Step around the floor kind of nice and light
Then you twist around and twist around with all your might,
Stretch your loving arms straight out into space,
Then you do the Eagle Rock with style and grace.
Swing your foot way 'round then bring it back.
Now that's what I call Ballin' the Jack."

"To "ball" a "jack" refers possibly to the action of risking a shot in "Boules", or Bocce or its sister game Petanque. The jack in either case is the smaller ball for which the goal of the game is to either throw your team's ball closest to it, or to knock away your opponent's ball. To hit the target ball to another location, or to "ball the jack", is to alter the focus of the gameplay. To do so requires great accuracy, and assuming the game is scored for money instead of points (it is a drinking game, and takes skill and a bit of luck as well), takes risk as well, for in double or triple team play, you only get one shot (one ball per player). So to "ball the jack" is to risk a miss, and a wasted shot, at something that is really important to you."

Now if you look up railway know-how on http://madisonrails.railfan.net/lewman10.html you will see that to fix a crooked rail you had one person sit on the track and site along it to see where it needed to be straightened (lining the track), then two men would put jacks at an angle against the inside ball of the rail and lever it until it was straight. Then you had to shovel ballast back in under the ties and tamp it down. The ball of the rail is the curved part going up to the flattened surface on top of the rail. The jack had a groove across the top that fit against the ball so it wouldn't slip off.

According to the Oxford Dictionary of Slang, the expression dates from 1670 and may come from the gambling expression "set on cinque and sice," which means betting everything on throwing a five and six at dice.

Good Evening!

I think I just came home from my last daytime rehearsal of Mary Poppins - at least as far as the two new Jane Banks are concerned.  -There's a "strong rumor" that this Saturday's rehearsal may be cancelled.  Well, for me, at least.  They'll have the other girl "shadow" that afternoon instead.  *So, if it does get cancelled, I may be able to catch Such Good Friends if there's still a ticket left.

Otherwise, they ran the rest of the show today including the curtain calls.  And, again, since we have two girls going into the show, we ran everything twice.  Although Bert and Mary only flew once. *And it was sooooo cool to see all the "magic" behind the flying.  And even though I could see all the "magic", it was still magical.  :)

yes, it was a very common name.

I am rather fond of genealogy.  I also have some scots but it what some call Scots-Irish.

Davison, McMIllan and McEntee are the names that are from Ulster.  I am also Irish but I can never really trace that line. My 3xggrandfather was an orphan train rider.

I am also of German ancestry with ancestors from Pommern on my mother's side and Sudetenland and the Rhineland-Pfalz on my dad's side. I am still suspecting that oen my lines may have been originally Jewish.

Avoid the Patti version! Although an improved performance from the one recorded in New York (on CD), she is still "all over the place".

I know you're a fan George but the perfomance is little better than acceptable IMHO.  I prefer her performance in Candide where she really performed as herself - and did it well  - for laughs.

Monkey Cake has walnuts.  Hummingbird Cake has pecans.  (That one recipe stating that either one works and that they taste the same...  Umm.. No. ;) )  Hummingbird Cake tends to be a bit more "spicier" in my experience.  Magnolia Bakery will sometimes feature Hummingbird Cake and/or Hummingbird Cake Cupcakes, and it's definitely different from Amy's Bread Monkey Cake.  Just sayin'...  ;D

I agree with DR tomovoz, though the Patti version does have Victoria Clark's Beggar Woman, rather than Audra McDonald's - there are some who would consider that a plus.  The dvd of Patti's does also boast a rather rich, booming DTS soundtrack.

and I still like the Henry Higgins line!

"In America they haven't used it for years"

I taped it the last time it aired on the local public telly station.

Of course the line was written by an American who didn't know his "hung" from his "hanged" so I guess there is not much creedence to the line.

As for Amy's Bread Monkey Cake vs. Hummingbird Cake, well...

Just sayin'...  ;D

But the Monkey Cake at Amy's has pecans...?

Story of English had some interesting discussions on how english developed and on the different dialects and groups today.

I also like Bill Bryson's book on the topic.

Hmm.. I thought they always tasted and looked like walnuts, but their website say pecans... Hmm...  Well, in any case... Monkey Cake does not taste like Hummingbird Cake.  And vice versa.

I should consult with DR Jason since he's a Hummingbird Cake aficionado - and he was the one who pointed out to me that the Magnolia Bakery's Hummingbird Cake had pecans as opposed to walnuts.

DR Ginny - Monkey Cake?  ;)

Ding, ding, ding!  We were running a little early on our way down 9th Ave. on our way to dinner and stopped in there.  There was a little over half a cake left and I suggested to Richard that we stop on our way back from dinner  to get a slice.  He convinced me to get it then.  Even though we had dessert with our dinner, I'm going to have to sample the Monkey Cake before I go to bed.

Btw, of the new shows i watched this week i also did see BIONIC WOMAN (no spoilers).

I think a show like this has to have an excellent star (like a jennifer garner type). I just find this woman average.

The story was okay. But there is just something that doesn't really grab my attention.  Not sure if i will watch it again.

LOL-It is good news.  What he is hoping for are interviews from a few of his favorite schools, followed by acceptances.  Then he can pull out from schools with less appeal & focus on the schools he is most interested in.  Each step of this process is time consuming and costly.  If/when interviews are offered he will have to fly to all but one.  Until there is a bird in the hand the other 21 will be pursued.

I believe Bryan's classes are over on the 10th of December, so in reality it would be nice if he could have multiple interviews to go on then & organize them by location.

Oregon calling before then would be nice, he can walk there from his home.

The Vixter has not yet studied this era of history and was shocked by the storyline.  She wanted to know how you "made this up", and was shocked all over again when I explained that the McCarthy hearings had actually happened.
She's far from alone.  I've mentioned Noel's show to some of my coworkers, and those who are a generation (or more) younger than myself have greeted my explanation of the plot with blank expressions.  I can understand Vixter being in the dark, but some of these kids are almost thirty years old, hardly kids any more.   :-\

I mentioned this in my 30 Days of NYMF column at BroadwayWorld:

Great to get the discussion started, although, I swear, my purpose was only to entertain.

I'm woo hoo-ing after seeing Judy Carter's "Don't get mad get funny" last night. Her theory is anything that could be frustrating, make you mad or upset just shout Woo Hoo!  I've been doing it today, sometimes for no reason at all -just because it makes me laugh

I still treasure - I think it was DR George's - advice:  count to ten, and then think of how it will look later on YouTube.   :P

I think the Lansbury/Hearn SWEENEY TODD was actually recorded for HBO. Both of them won Cable Ace Awards for it, and they couldn't have won them if it had premiered on PBS.

I'm on Disc 5 (of 6) for CSI: NY. I would love to be finished with it by Saturday if at all possible. The last episode of it I watched tonight was the one where Stella was exposed to HIV and must now have an agonizing wait to see if she has become infected.

Loved UGLY BETTY tonight. Any time Justin is at Mode, it's cause for celebration! All of the plot strands were interesting, funny, and addicting.

Tonight's episode of GREY'S ANATOMY was the best episode of that show in about six months. Lots of humor, lots of personal drama. It would be very easy to fall in love all over again with this show.

Tonight's CSI, well, I didn't love it. Two OK cases plus a lot of Sarah/Grissom stuff that has had me turned off for an entire season.

DR Jennifer:

PUSHING DAISIES had an audience of 12.83 million.

I noticed that ABC is rerunning it and PRIVATE PRACTICE this Friday night.

TCB - There are things about the showcase process that I can't really talk about, but every now and then I need to vent about them, so my way of venting is just to say there is nothing I can say and leave it at that.  :)

Well, if you're going to take that attitude, I'll just ignore what you can't say. So there! 8)

I'm still purging and I think I saw a couple of DoH scripts, although I can't put my hands on them right now. I don't feel right selling them on EBay, but I wouldn't mind passing them on to a fan of the show.

If you had the script for the telefilm, THE DUKES OF HAZARD/HOLLYWOOD, I know someone who would be VERY interested, not to mention grateful.

Um, NOT HBO, but the fledging ARTS CHANNEL, later to become THE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT CHANNEL and ultimately, A&E.

A question for Cillaliz:

Do you really want to emphasize "Criminal Defense" in dealing with your new clientele?

We must be in the minority.  I was so so on PUSHING DAISIES.  Keith and my brother found it annoying and turned it off.  Keith just left the room about 3/4 of the way through and returned for the ending.

Well, the best I can muster is "cute". (And a little "cute" can go a long way.)

Time to get dinner started once more.

Der Brucer found a couple of nice-looking lamb chops yesterday, and mentioned that he'd like steamed red potatoes with parsley.  Add to that, perhaps, some brussels sprouts with a bit of balsamic.

And a splendid job he did!

(Actually they were Austrailian lamb sirloin cutlets - at @$2.50 each)

Hi various and sun-dried H/Ks and DRs ..... I thought I'd say a quick hello and goodnight for the evening.

Hello lovely, dear, Esteemed, and cough-y BK...... may your throat relax and be at ease!

And thank you dear DR Ben....I had a most enjoyable early evening listening to a compilation of the wonderful little theatre interviews that our dear Ben records for Radio Wales.

And just remember Ben...... "Scope leaves you with minty breath, not medicine breath...."      :o

Haven't had any interesting newcomers - just the same old crowd (with the addition of a young squirrel who seems much tamer than his adult kin).

Good Evening!

...I bought two little yoga balls to help me with my stretching routine - my right hip has been locking up again (that IT-Band thingy).  I did my second round of "gravity-aided stretching", and.. WOW!!!  What I'm most amazed at is the amount of tension and tightness in my shoulders and upper arms.  I mean, I've always held some tension there, but after doing some relaxation exercises and realizing that I was having difficulty just letting my arms lie flat on the ground...  Whew!

-And my right hip is feeling a lot better already too.

Is there any word if Ben Vereen will be on again this season?  Just wondrin'.  Just seems there's a bit more "character" to be mined.
