Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a little Wicked, and now it is time for you to post until the Wicked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NOSISM! And we are not kidding.

Local life

You can no doubt tell that the Kangaroo is carrying her joey!
-
It's so beautiful!!!
-
Im so sleepy I could eat a horse!
-
Wait... that didn't sound right
-
The folder is full! I guess the other kangaroos photographs will wait.
-
At least you didn't say eat a kangaroo.
-
Happy Birthday DR Jed. Kangaroos to the Slaughter.
-
Some of us will continue to associate DR Jed with "Children of Eden".

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Jed!!
Where are you??
-
In my DVD player: Doctor Who: The Beginning
On my DVR: Several episodes each from a lot of shows...not enough time to watch it all!
In my CD player at work: "The Brain From Planet X"
In my computer DVD burner: "Legally Blonde." I'd forgotten how long it takes to burn one of these! And my co-worker Ruth who actually recorded the show and put it on a DVD, put the "backstage" stuff on another DVD, which gave an error message when I tried to copy it. I asked Ruth to re-burn it and she did, but with fewer chapter breaks, so hopefully that'll fix whatever problem that it was having. :)

I'm off to bed. Good night, Tomovoz.
-
Goodnight DR George.
-
Good morning, all! I'm still undecided on what I am doing today. I've got some Toyland writing to do here, the David Burnham orchestra parts, things to cart down to the office, and a visit to Encores! to help finish things up for tomorrow morning's reading. I guess I'll see what the weather's like and then decide.

DR Tomovoz - Love the Roos! Hope they clear out the folder soon so we can see more

Callie Report - Let's just say we've gone too far in the other direction now, which is a good thing from what I hear, now we can scale back and hopefully get on an even keel again.
She is in very good spirits this morning, but still staying in the safety of her room most of the time. That's fine with me. I'd rather have her in there than somewhere in the basement.
-
This has been a long and trying week... tonight my nephew comes back for the weekend. He's in his classes most of the time he's here and then tomorrow I'll go to the banquet with him. I'm looking forward to a steak and baked potato.
-
I better run. I need to get ready for work. Then I'm heading to the new vet first so I can buy the new food and maybe set up a time to talk to them about what I'd like to see as a treatment plan and see if they think it's a good idea or not.
-
I have a few appointments today, but am going to try to be at home off and on. I need to run the vacuum and clean up the house a little for Adam so his allergy to cats won't bother him too much
-
Friday morning greetings! It's an information-waitressing day and I hope the full moon (which was setting beautifully in the west this morning) doesn't make things too weird.
Happiest of birthdays to DR Jed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR JED!
Dear esteemed bk, it's so refreshing to hear a positive report on WICKED, a show which I have always been quite fond of.
-
Hi, Vixmom!
-
As for the TOD:
DVDs (galore):
X FILES SEASON SIX - Episode 3 - TRIANGLE - an episode of time-traveling, Mulder finds himself on the luxury liner QUEEN ANNE in 1939, just as the Germans have invaded Poland. The ship's captain is Y. Harburg, the lounge singer is Elmira Gulch. . .well, you get the picture.
JFK - listening to Oliver Stone's commentary.
ALEXANDER THE FINAL CUT - enjoying the visuals and the score more than the film itself, though. This cut is not without merits, however.
a couple of dvd-r's:
RATATOUILLE - now I have mum hooked on Remy's tale of haute rat cuisine.
HAIRSPRAY - I was going to flip through the musical numbers but ended up watching the whole thing. . .AGAIN!
PUSHING DAISIES - the first three episodes, commercial free.
VIVA LAUGHLIN - the whole series of two episodes - and yes, it's as bad as it's been said to be. . .
-
hi vixmom! How much do you like WICKED? ;)
-
Hi, DR edisaurus!
Have you tracked down a WILD PARTY yet?
-
Good Morning, DR cillaliz!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm already at the rehearsal hall.
-
...And from the looks of the call sheet, it looks like we're gonna be here for a couple of hours with no break. It just turned out that more people were available and interested for the project that originally thought, and that's always a plus. And it's a good list of people coming in today, so that's always nice.
-
Well, we're about to start, so I should warm up a little bit, but before I do...
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOR JED!!!!!
-
And speaking of Mr. Schwartz, I'm supposed to see The Baker's Wife this weekend at the York. I worked on the version of this show prior to this "final" revision, so it will be interesting to see what has changed and what has not. And even though the solo numbers are quite wonderful, I'm particularly looking forward to the ensemble numbers.
"Fresh warm bread..."
:)
-
...And when I checked the new video screen here which tells you what's going on in which room, I saw a listing for "Encores At Plus". At Plus?!?! -Is that some new performing arts center? Well...
Once I got to the room, it turns out the casting director had asked to have "Applause" added to the listing. Not "At Plus". ;)
-
And now that Jack Viertel is here, I guess I should get shut down for now..
Laters...

And the word of the day is: NOSISM! And we are not kidding.

-
Good morning!
More rain and more cool, both of which we need and which I want, so I'm a pretty happy camper. Might not be so happy if it's pouring down when I go to the grocery store later, but I'll deal with that when the time comes.

Happy Birthday to former DR Jed!!

Happy Birthday to DR Jed!!

I managed to watch two more episodes on the CSI: MIAMI box set this morning. One had to do with a detective Calleigh is seeing working undercover in an outlaw biker gang. Good episode.
The other involved the theft of some designer jewelry which led to a counterfeit ring. This episode had a commentary which I listened to. Lots of back slapping and shout-outs to production personnel, but not enough talk about the filming of the episode.

Looking forward to tonight's episodes of GHOST WHISPERER, MOONLIGHT (my favorite new show this season), and WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB.

Loved the Kanga Pics, DR TOMovOZ.
Still waiting for something other than BROWN leaves to take some photos of the neighborhood trees.

Lovely WICKED report from MR BK. I haven't seen the show although I have the CD and have read the book.
Maybe I will....but I have the same audience reservations written about in the notes....I just don't like theatre as concert or theatre as audience participation.... Yes, I am old.

Did some shopping for the seance on Wednesday night:
bought a nice table, a nice silver chalice and tray, a cloth, and a nice DRY ERASE board to use.....
Bring on the spirits.

DR FRANCOIS - loved the Disney Night Lights from Tokyo!!!
Thanks for the David Dukes links, DR td - and DR TCB - I didn't know any of the history of the case, but I remember being shocked at his early demise.

TOD:
DVD - The Wild Party - a very entertaining film, with a short interview with close personal friend of DR EDISAURUS, James Ivory. I enjoyed the production very much (the Raquel Welch incident was not mentioned)....no commentary, but everyone is very good, and the physical production is great. And for what it's worth, Raquel NEVER looked more beautiful or gave a better performance. Ivory credits James Coco with most of the nuance of her acting.

I don't like movie theater audience participation! That is why I've never done "Rocky Horror" at midnight showings or gone to "Sound of Music" singalongs.
I mean...REALLY? Can anyone in the audience IMPROVE upon what's already on the screen?
-
Oh, yes....Happy Birthday to former DR.....Jed, was it?

Any explanations for the MADNESS I experienced on the drive in this morning at 7:15 a.m. on side streets?
- People running traffic lights and stopping short of crashing into my car in the middle of the intersection?
- Folks driving under the speed limit on a four-lane street...and driving side by side so that no one can pass?
-
I'm jonesing for caffeine in a BIG way this morning, and I've already had a cup (after years of drinking coffee all through the day, I suddenly stopped at one cup a few years back and have been more than content with that).
-
My guess would be the Full Moon last night during a Mercury retrograde!
Even though the exact time of the Full Moon is over, the two days following this solar-lunar monthly climax are still days for distribution of the cosmic energies just received.
What caused the wilding driving was probably Mercury-Saturn contra-parallel (6:28AM PDT). Contra-parallel sky formations can equate with oppositions in the zodiac, and a Mercury-Saturn link like this can coincide with delays, frustrations and crazy driving.
-
Good morning, everyone.
Verizon has come and gone and I now have two functioning landlines. I won't bore you with all the incidents of Verizon miscommunication--I'll just mention that the appointment was for this afternoon from 2 to 6, and the guy showed up at 10. Fortunately, I was here. I'm glad it's out of the way, but everyone I spoke to there told me something different. It's always this way with them. I could go on, but I won't. I'll try to just be thankful it's fixed.
-
Full moon plus Mercury retrograde. Ah! Plus the first rain we've had in months. Thus, a faulty phone line.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR JED!

Today is ZOMBIE day on TCM.....it begins in 15 minutes.
I am passing on the Zombie flicks.
In the near future, however, there will be a Torchy Blane day....and a couple of other serialized character days.
And then....tum-ta-duh-DAHHH! A day of "The Shadow" films. I'm recording THOSE (having never seen a single one of them).
-
Calming vibes for DR JEANNE.
Thank you, JRand. Actually, understanding Mercury retrograde is quite helpful. There are times in my life when I seem to be doing all the right things, but somehow things just aren't coming together as they should. Now I know it's probably not me--it's the retrograde and I just need to be patient.

HAPPY happy HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our Jed!!!
Okay, so here's the latest news - I just got an email this morning from CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL - my story is short-listed for Chicken Soup for the Twenty-Something Soul!!! I'm just thrilled!!!
-
And i'm invited to a hallowe'en party with my sister next Wednesday - again THRILLED, cuz y'all know how I love costumes...
-
And I've been studying for my interview next Friday for that dream job in Seattle... oy.
-
Congrats! DR PennyO on being "short-listed"!
-
I love the picture of Ozman's kangaroo!!!
-
Thanks, Jose! The story is a factual version of the fictionalized version of an episode from JEWISH THIGHS ON BROADWAY... and, of course, it's called "Little Trouper"
-
CONGRATS to PENNYO on her story!
BTW, which story was this???
-
And the word of the day is: NOSISM! And we are not kidding.
Queen Victoria turned to the impertinent ingenue and said, in a low but direct tone, "NO, MISS, we are not guilty of NOSISM - as we represent the entire British Empire, we are, indeed, a plurality!"
-
DR PennyO - congrats on your possible Chicken Soup... publication! And best vibes for that interview next week!
-
The Queen refuses to dance.
-
Oohh... I was just reminded I have a work-session at the casting director's office right after the auditions are done. Guess I'll cook dinner tomorrow night - I bought the fixin's for a nice roast chicken dinner yesteday: chicken, beets, fennel, carrots, onions, garlic, rosemary. Very Fall-y.
-
Hmm.. I wonder if any of those kangaroos are related to the ones I saw in that very same park (I think that's the same park) when I was there a couple of years ago.

Congrats and Vibes to Penny O

CR man arrested with inflatable doll
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
Police arrested a man after finding him in a government building restroom lying beside an inflatable doll.
Cedar Rapids police charged Craig S. McCullough, 47, with indecent exposure after finding him Wednesday afternoon in the public restroom. He had his pants down and was "lying next to an anatomically correct inflatable doll," according to the criminal complaint.
He was found by an agent of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, which has an office near the restroom.
McCullough has a lengthy criminal record, including a 2004 conviction for burglarizing Just For Me bridal boutique in Cedar Rapids. Shortly after the burglary, officers found McCullough in a nearby alley, carrying a mannequin wearing a bridal dress.]
-
CONGRATS to PENNYO on her story!
BTW, which story was this???
It's a condensation of the first third of the novel, the hideous auditions, the hideous apartment, the poverty and loneliness which culminates in the contemplation of a theatrical suicide, topped by the Busby Berkeley ending: the resurrection of the fantasy of sequins and ostrich feathers and audiences cheering...
-
Congrats and Vibes to Penny O
Thanks, Cill!!!
-
DR PennyO - congrats on your possible Chicken Soup... publication! And best vibes for that interview next week!
thank you, Ginny! Fingers x'd!
-
Well, it's back to my studies for the interview - I'm reading a book (sent to me by the Chairman of the Board of the org whose Executive Director I'd like to be paid way too much to become...) called It's Easy: Money Matters for Nonprofit Managers. I highly recommend it!! Very unusual - and idiot-proof - advice!

Book - just about finished with The Secret Life of Lobsters, by Trevor Corson. I've been enjoying it quite a bit. Next up is Craig Claiborne's memoir, A Feast Made for Laughter, which I understand is as much about sex as it is about food.
DVD - last night I finally got around to watching Shaun of the Dead, which I enjoyed. It's probably not the sort of thing der Grampa and I should show to the grandlads, of course - the frequent use of the F-word is a wee bit problematical. But, for Doctor Who fans, it of course has Simon Pegg, who played The Editor in the ep "The Long Game," and Penelope Wilton as Pegg's mother, who was wonderful in "Aliens of London/World War Three" and "The Christmas Invasion" as MP (later PM) Harriet Jones. (For those who aren't Doctor Who fans, just sit back and enjoy the head-bashings.)

Dear DR Cilla: strange, how that article doesn't mention the sex the anatomically correct inflatable doll! I mean, these details could be important!

DR George,
My DVD burner has a fast copy mode, but sad to say, it doesn't work if the show is over 2 hours. More than 2 hours, it has to copy in real time. I have LEGALLY BLONDE on the hard drive of my DVD burner, but I haven't had time to cut away all the commercials and backstage stuff I had no interest in at all to see how long the show would actually be without it. I have a feeling it will still be over 2 hours long.
The way my co-worker cut out the commercials and backstage stuff, the show disc comes out to be about 2 hours and 6 minutes. I don't have the backstage disc with me, but that disc isn't very long at all. Of course, because it was all shown together, the edits aren't the greatest, but they're good enough for me...and hopefully for everyone who will (eventually) get one. Tonight, I'll be able to see if the redone second disc works. :)
-
When I brought Ebonie home yesterday, I left the collar on her so that she could start to get used to it. I didn't apply any of the topical ointment, yet. When I got home, I could tell that she hadn't been able to eat! I took off the collar and cut it about 1 and 1/2 inches shorter, still long enough to prevent her from licking her paws, but short enough so that she can eat...which is very important. Also, last night I bought some new kitty litter because the vet said to get some newspaper-based litter or something like that that won't clump up in the paw with the ointment. We'll see if she adjusts. :-\
-
Off to work!

Congrats! DR PennyO on being "short-listed"!
Much preferred to being "short-sheeted."

I don't think short-sheeting would work on DR PennyO - she's quite petite.

When we had the little Ociee cat fixed, we had to find a non-clumping litter. We bought some that was in a green pellet form and she adapted to it immediately.

Good Afternoon!
Part One of my day is finished, and now I have a bit of time before Part Two of my day starts. -And it turns out Part Two will just last about a half or so, so.... Does anyone know anything about credit card machines. We're trying to figure out how to do our silent auction payments, and I thought we could just set up an account, rent three machines, and do it. But, apparently it's more difficult than that. It's a one-time event and we don't really need them after that - any ideas?
-
BK - could some entity there at the college that already uses credit cards for payment (bookstore, box office, etc.) be of any help?
-
...I may end up roasting my chicken tonight, although, now that the thought of dining out has been planted in my head...
Dang. I had better start thinking about what's for dinner, too.

george & ebonies, good luck with the new litter.
if i were to get a cat i would attempt to use the newspaper or pellet type litter. the dust from the clay ones can be damaging to their lungs. the costco brand did some major damage to one of our cats.

Hello DR Francois! It's so good to see you here!
Thank you!
You've lost some weight, td!
I can tell, td! ;)

I saw the podiatrist this morning. Gosh, there are more injured areas on my foot than I realized. I could have a combination of pulled ligaments, & possibly, tiny splintered bones. He needs to see the x-rays to determine the bones. The same x-rays I asked multiple times if they would be sent to him & no one was concerned cuz they didn’t show anything. Just about the first thing he said is sometimes the radiologist miss these.
He gave me a regime of soaking my foot in cold, than warm water, for an alternating series of minutes. I’m to try and take it easy. I return on the 1st for an ultra-sound which he will compare to the x-rays.
off to find two bowls i can set up for the water treatment, just waiting until i'm done icing my wrist & have the splint back on. this is so much fun ;D

JLS should have received an Oscar for song score IMHO.

My appointment with the podiatrist is for Monday afternoon. It's only three blocks away, but two of them are long avenue blocks.
May be time to break out the walker and make believe I'm in a number from THE PRODUCERS. :)

Hello, Mr Kangaroo!

That's Captain Kangaroo...if you don't mind! ;)

JLS should have received an Oscar for song score IMHO.
I so agree! It's a gorgeous score, supplemented by Lee Holdridge's contributions.
-
FJL GOOD LUCK! even if you don't need the walker to get there, you might for the walk home, depending what he does to your during the exam.
originally i only said, what he does to you. Fearing the repercussions of such a statement i decided to include the extra words, even though they involved more typing on my part. ;D

It's him who goes with the young lad! LOL!

why would i want to watch a musical about a guy i can't stand and do my best to avoid. ;D
I never watched "The Jerry Springer Show" but I bought the region 2 PAL DVD of Jerry Springer: The Opera (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jerry-Springer-Opera-David-Soul/dp/B000B3MIWO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/202-9760930-4631833?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1193428085&sr=8-1)[/u] from England (and right now, it's only £3.97...80% off!). I actually liked it. It's different. I didn't know what to expect, but I could accept it for what it was and I had a good time watching it. :)

I'd pay to see that. ;)

DR FRANCOIS - loved the Disney Night Lights from Tokyo!!
Thank you!
I have done a very good job with the light effects of the floats, have I? ;)

Hello, Dear François!!! My work here is done. I'm about to go home and I have my fingers crossed that I won't be coming in tomorrow morning. It looks like we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. How, I'll never know.
Later, gaters.
-
I love the picture of Ozman's kangaroo!!!
Is there some double-entendre in this statement?.... because I remember seeing more than one kangaroo! ;)
Congrats on your success!

And speaking of 'roos...

Something one CAN'T find at Levain! ;)

I spent most of my viewing afternoon with CSI: MIAMI. I'm guessing I watched three more episodes including one with Jonathan Togo providing commentary. He sounds like quite the kidder and cut-up.
Among the episodes I watched was last year's infamous one about a decapitation that occurred during a street race.

SPOILERS!

No doubt after comparing their baguettes!
-
I also watched last night's episode of THE OFFICE. Very funny with some good lines. I do so love these characters, and I loved the moent in the restaurant when the waiter made a pass at Pam, and Jim put his arm around her. Fans have waited four years for this relationship to happen, and I'm SO glad the writers decided to go there this season.
-
I also had time to skim quickly through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay characters, but they did show up in previews for next week.

Hello, Musketeer! You obviously won the duel! ;)

When I go back down, I'll get to the other two NBC comedies and LAW & ORDER: CI before the prime time shows begin.

Don't forget the brioches too!
"Merci, Madame!"

Back from a lunch of dim sum.
Yum. And no more for me in the near future, thanks a bunch.
I've not had dim sum in a long time, and it was very tasty...but very bad for my diet.
-
Comment, Ally....you?
-
Am expecting to get "Transformers" on HD-DVD today.
I hope the UPS guy cooperates.
-
thank you George, and continued foot vibes for Ebonie.

TOD:
DVD - The Wild Party - a very entertaining film, with a short interview with close personal friend of DR EDISAURUS, James Ivory. I enjoyed the production very much (the Raquel Welch incident was not mentioned)....no commentary
Interesting. I wonder if he was just joking about using that as a DVD extra? I certainly believed him! (Of course, we'd had a bit to drink...)

My boss is due back next Thursday from her montlong sojourn into Argentina and Peru.
Her first day back, should she choose to return "on" that date, will see us going out to lunch at a fancy schmancy restauarant at Jack London Square (Kinkaid's) to fete our two departing co-workers, followed at 3 p.m. with a cake/coffee farewell for the agency to say goodbye to them.
Sigh.
My boss, should she come in that day and be well, will not be happy at all the next day -- Friday. And I'm taking that day OFF!
-
ron i will be looking forward to a movie report.
-
He gave me a regime of soaking my foot in cold, than warm water, for an alternating series of minutes. I’m to try and take it easy. I return on the 1st for an ultra-sound which he will compare to the x-rays.
You put your left foot in
You pull your left foot out
You put your left foot in
And you swish it all about.
Do the soakey, soakey
And just hope you don't have gout
That's what it's all about!
-
thank you George, and continued foot vibes for Ebonie.
And thank you!
-
Jane, what did your podiatrist do that was so painful?
-
Is that a euphemism?
(Hey! If DR singdaw is gonna be E&T, somebody has to ask it!)
Quite right, Ron. Does that make you Singdaw's stand-in? A Sing-in? (Someone here can do better than I'm doing, certainly!)
-
And one for Metatarsil
-
Jane, what did your podiatrist do that was so painful?
Aside from handing you the bill?
-
Spoo, that should be metatarsal.

A fancy schmancy CHAIN restaurant, it should be noted.
::)
(Actually, their lunch menu (http://www.r-u-i.com/pdf/menus/Kincaids-Oakland-Lunch.pdf) doesn't look all that terrible.)

I never metatarsal I didn't like.

It's quite pricey....for a lunch spot in Oakland CA...but why "it should be noted" that it's a "chain" restaurant is quite beyond my understanding.
It's a restaurant. No reason to qualify it as part of a "chain"...unless one's intent is to be dismissive, which the rolling eyes indicates that it was.
But to what end?

Because CHAIN restaurants are... METALtarsal! ;)

I am Meadowlark-less. Michelle Nicastro was doing it, but she's just not comfortable with it and wants to do Part Of your World, which she knows very well. I said that was okay and I went to Ripley to see if she'd do it in addition to her other song, but she doesn't want to do two.
-
I guess I'll head down now and get busy on mopping the kitchen floor before heading back to the den to continue with the evening's viewing.
WBBL.
-
By and large, restaurants that are part of a chain have a lesser degree of involvement on the part of the kitchen staff in their product. The ingredients are less likely to be fresh and local, compared to a stand-alone restaurant, and more likely to be shipped in from a central repository. And, all too frequently, part of the prep on the food being served has taken place at said central repository.
On a similar level, the waitstaff is more likely to be given orders by a guide book, led by a martinet more interested in making his/her way up the corporate ladder than in giving the diners a memorable experience. The waitstaff will be discouraged from having a good working relationship with the kitchen staff, resulting in less personalized service.
Dismissive of chain restaurants? Hey, there can be exceptions, but generally you've got it right on the nose.
-
Jane, what did your podiatrist do that was so painful?
lol-i didn't mean to worry you.
it wasn't that bad really. he only pressed all around until i flinched a little in pain. he kindly only used as much pressure as needed. he also tested the flexibility of my foot and ankle. there were multiple area that hurt and it is all bothering me more now.
since your foot seems more sensitive than mine to begin with, who knows how u will feel after. i guess it depends on what your doctor needs to do to diagnose the problem. the orthopedist didn't bother my wrist at all. :)
-
I am Meadowlark-less.
Sorry to hear this. I've never liked the song that much, myself, but it's one of Schwartz's most popular. And it really does need to be played straight - Dame Edna would be so wrong for an interpretation.
-
lol edi, only i'm singing right foot.

the menu looks good. homemade chips and sweet potato fries, i'm set.
-
Kincaid's at Jack London Square is a superb restaurant, chain member or not. It has exceptional food and quality service.
-
Sorry to hear this. I've never liked the song that much, myself, but it's one of Schwartz's most popular. And it really does need to be played straight - Dame Edna would be so wrong for an interpretation.
me too. i like the song very much.
-
DR MBarnum - did you pick up the dvd set of ROUTE 66 yet?
I was debating on getting that....since I have several other season sets (Flipper, Family Affair, Loretta Young Show, Gilligan's Island, etc) which I have not even gotten to yet, or just barely dipped into.
But I would like me some Marty Milner and George Maharis action!
-
Dismissive of chain restaurants? Hey, there can be exceptions, but generally you've got it right on the nose.
But your purpose, S. Woody....was it to belittle me for mentioning it as a nice place? Or did you do it simply simply to be a shit?
-
Has "Meadowlark" ever been sung other than as a solo?
-
"Fancy" is descriptive. "Schmancy" is dismissive.
-
And then, too, S. Woody, some of us (i.e. "me") must face the truth and eat crow -- inevitably -- for not realizing I was using a dismissive term to describe the place.
(I do think, however, they are overpriced for what they are, but they put on a good show and set a nice table.)
Re-reading it all again, I overreacted, and realize you were agreeing with me.
I apologize for doing so, and for being so aggressively abrasive. And I ask your forgiveness for same.
-
I just went to my room for a moment, and found one of my old shoes (with a hole in the sole) sitting in the middle of the floor, several feet away from where I had left it. The insole was on my bed.
I checked with Fletcher, who didn't particularly look guilty. Then I gave him the shoe, which he took happily.
Amazing, how he's always left my good shoes alone, while enjoying a good chew on the old ones. It's like he knows which he can have and which he can't.
-
Not a problem, Ron.
-
I checked with Fletcher, who didn't particularly look guilty. Then I gave him the shoe, which he took happily.
why would he look guilty when you let him have old shoes ;D
-
Not a problem, Ron.
This 'shit' appreciates that, S. Woody!
-
Sorry to hear this. I've never liked the song that much, myself, but it's one of Schwartz's most popular. And it really does need to be played straight - Dame Edna would be so wrong for an interpretation.
I love the song. :) I have about 15 different versions...and Betty Buckley's four different versions are not only very different than the "traditional" way that it's sung, but they are all very different from each other.
-
But I would like me some Marty Milner and George Maharis action!
That's what my date said last night. :o
;)
-
lol edi, only i'm singing right foot.
Oooopps! Sorry, wrong foot!
-
DR Jane: You could be an extra on "E.R." or "Grey's Anatomy".
-
That's what my date said last night. :o
;)
Was that the Canadian priest?
-
And one for Milner

Page 8 - reprise of the Soaky Pokey

Thanks for that laugh, Edi

Have we discussed that T-shirt which reads: "I'm worried. What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?"
-
A possible song to be played at my funeral DR FJL. ("Send in The Clowns" is so last decade).
Funniest song I have provided a cd of for a funeral: "Oh Lord It's Hard To be Humble" (Mac Davis)
-
Was that the Canadian priest?
Sadly, no. :-\ I have heard no word from the guy. :P
-
He may be trying to break out of his habit DR George.
-
Or decided to restring his beads.
-
Good Evening!
It's raining here in New York City.
That is all.
For this post at least.
-
I listened to Betty Buckley - once for a lark.
-
For those who have seen Ms Buckley in concert - does she always sing with her eyes closed?
-
I did enjoy Ms Buckley's performance in Sunset Boulevard. She is good at mad.
-
I thought of bk last night when my DH ordered grilled macaroni and cheese. And
Greg thought "If anyone has ever heard of this, I bet it would be Jose!"
It was yummy!
-
DR Jose - the kangaroos would quite probably be from the same family group. The park (and reservoir - a DR Jose reference) was created in the mid 1970s. The Kangaroo population was here before that time. Night driving on the country roads had to be undertaken with care. I've only "brushed" against one with the car and I was pleased to see it hop off in to the scrubland. I've lived most of my life within twenty miles of where we are now.
I'm hoping to post more photographs (Where is the Administrator?) soon.
-
Hello, fellow DRs. Sorry to have been so E&T today. I was terribly busy at work, and I had to leave in the middle of the day because a family asked me to sing a memorial service. Very sad; a 38 year old woman who left 3 young children. Stomach cancer. And another memorial service tomorrow afternoon. Yeesh.
-
DR Tomovoz: the eagle has landed. THANK YOU so very very much! :)
-
And now I've got me some catchin' up to do...
-
All in all, it was a fun audition session, and we somehow managed to fit every one in that we needed to see today - and we finished early(!) and never felt rushed at all throughout the day. I played some fun stuff today too, including some whacked out (and I mean that in a good way) arrangement of Berlin's "I Love A Piano", which changed tempos and feels almost every four measures - kept me on my toes (and fingers).
And it still sort of "amazes" me how some Broadway veterans (with like 10 Original Broadway Cast credits on their resume) still get nervous like everyone else does during an audition. It's nice to know they're "still" human. :)
-
After making a trip to Amy's Bread to pick up some cupcakes, I headed to the casting office for my afternoon session. -The cupcakes were for the office staff. :)
I ended up spending some time with Sean Martin Hingston. We ran through some music, and since we were both a bit early for the appointment/audition, we had some time to talk. I've seen him in a bunch of shows - he's an amazing dancer - and I also happened to catch him when he was in "Chita And All The Jazz" when the show made a stop in Richmond back in the late '90s. It was the opening night of her stint there, and it also happened to be his first night going on - he was the understudy for the male ensemble. I told him that I had seen that, and he was surprised I remembered such details. Well, then he went on to talk about the great party they hosted at one of the "bars" in town, as well as the host(ess) for the evening too.
And when I asked about his accent, it turns out he's from Melbourne. That led to chatting about the Crowne, Freddo Frogs, Australian wine, Tim-Tams, etc. -I did not bring up "roo poo". ;)

Moi: I've got ground venison thawing.
Der B: Oooh, stroganoff!
Moi: I'll need beef broth. We have to get to the store.
Der B: I suppose I'd better get dressed.
(I also need fresh dill, and stroganoff with venison goes better with shiitake mushrooms.)
-
I listened to Betty Buckley - once for a lark.
Twice, though, loses the spark??
;)
-
I did enjoy Ms Buckley's performance in Sunset Boulevard. She is good at mad.
I saw BB on Broadway in SB and she was wonderful!
-
I should point out that der B has been wearing a shabby pair of pants that he never wears out of the house. It sort of sounded like something else in the previous post.
-
DR Jane - So... Any thoughts on just how did you what you did to your foot? And does this mean you'll have to curtail your hiking for a bit?
-
I saw BB in Triumph of Love on Broadway. She kept her eyes open when she sang.
(The same could not be said of Robert Vaughn, who was in the audience and was visably displeased.)
-
If I remember correctly, on Betty's DVD, she keeps her eyes open a lot...not always, but mostly.
;)
-
Oooopps! Sorry, wrong foot!
you are forgiven ;D
-
DR Jane: You could be an extra on "E.R." or "Grey's Anatomy".
;Dextra, i could be a semi-regular tat show up with a new injury ever month or so ???
-
A possible song to be played at my funeral DR FJL. ("Send in The Clowns" is so last decade).
Funniest song I have provided a cd of for a funeral: "Oh Lord It's Hard To be Humble" (Mac Davis)
My singing partner wants me to sing Tom Waits' "Shiver Me Timbers" at her funeral. . . .
The four times I've seen Betty Buckley in concert, she rarely closed her eyes while singing; she made mucho eye contact, especially in the intimate surroundings (Benedum Center Stage, The Bottom Line).
-
DR Jane - So... Any thoughts on just how did you what you did to your foot? And does this mean you'll have to curtail your hiking for a bit?
I figured that last bit to be a given. With her hand out of commission, she would likely not be able to grab onto something to lift a branch or breech a hill, or hold two leashes.
But, she's a determined girl...so anything is possible, I suppose.
-
oh singdaw, sorry. that is very sad.

;)
Maybe it's just my copy of the DVD that has the closed eyes. LOL
I also find it a tad annoying seeing artists read their lyrics. (The camera can be so cruel). The wonderful Jane Olivor and Mr Bryn Terfel's DVDs are examples.
-
For the Michael Ball fans - his performance at the "Proms" is wonderful. (Shown on BBC).
-
lol ron. this is the same injury from two months ago when i wasn't paying attention, AGAIN, and didn't leave room for sherlock to get around me on the narrow trail. instead he went right through my foot & down i went.
jose i should curtail my hiking, and really did for awhile, obviosly not enough. i thought it was almost better and returned to my full regime-BIG MISTAKE. the doctor said to take it easy, oh so hard. i need to exercise for my mental and physical health.
i don't want to miss hiking, even short ones, during the last nice weather before winter arrives. i'll aim for shorter, flatters places to go.
-
Very sad indeed DR Mr DW.

but then again - refer to DR Jose's photograph of Kangaroo related material.

TMI DR Cillaliz
At least I didn't post a photo ;)
-
We seem to be on the same page.
-
No, I didn't take a photo. LOL. But with clumping litter all you would see is litter clumps. That's why I love it.
-
On my list of why I never wanted another dog were all the previous injuries I have from past dogs. These with Sherlock really were completely due to my carelessness.
-
Perhaps we need Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Tormé singing a scat duet.
-
Callie has been hanging out in the livingroom and acting almost like her good old self. I think the antibiotics are really helping. I don't know if I mentioned it, but I did talk to the new vet. She agreed that this is a good time to work on a dietary solution and told me about a medication that would be the next step if we need a little help. I got a copy of the file and the x-rays back from them, so my options are still open.

Managed to sneak in one photograph. I would rather post larger ones for the next three. We shall have to wait.

I wasn't able to go to my cousin's funeral, but the music was all Grateful Dead.
-
An organised elderly lady telephoned me a few weeks back to provide the song she wanted for her own funeral (no date set) - Englebert Humperdinck singing "Im Leavin' You"
-
Tom, if you e-mail them to me, I can post them to my Photobucket account and link them here. :)
I'll try that DR George.

I don't think short-sheeting would work on DR PennyO - she's quite petite.
Aye!! That I am!!! hahahahahahaaa!!

thanks, m'dear!

Thank you DR George. They are hopping through cyber space now.

Does anyone know anything about credit card machines. We're trying to figure out how to do our silent auction payments, and I thought we could just set up an account, rent three machines, and do it. But, apparently it's more difficult than that. It's a one-time event and we don't really need them after that - any ideas?
Yes - ask a local merchant or nonprofit that DOES already have the capacity to run credit cards if they will allow you to use their account to run your charges through, with their machines. They may or may not want a small percentage of your take to cover the bookkeeping headache.
-
Tomovoz! I forgot to let you know that the CD-sampler that you sent has arrived!! :-*
-
I saw the podiatrist this morning.
Oh, no! If it ain't the dawg, it's YOU... jeez... feel better, honey.
-
Tomovoz! I forgot to let you know that the CD-sampler that you sent has arrived!! :-*
My friendly (and friend) Cd retailer was here visiting us the other day. He said the Cast recording in its entirety is not worth bothering about!
-
Sorry DR George - in my haste I forgot to send the already reduced pics!
-
cilla, sounds like a good plan. hopefully new meds won't be needed.
-
My friendly (and friend) Cd retailer was here visiting us the other day. He said the Cast recording in its entirety is not worth bothering about!
Hmmm...I've been thinking about that. As much as I love the idea of a stage musical of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, since none of the songs are newly written for the show, I had pretty much decided not to try to get it again. I think I would've enjoyed having it, but I know I wouldn't have loved it. :-\
-
Sorry DR George - in my haste I forgot to send the already reduced pics!
I was wondering what was taking so long. :)
-
Poor sore footies! Every lame one a ya, feel better!
-
Tom, if you e-mail them to me, I can post them to my Photobucket account and link them here. :)
that would be nice, i couldn't see the last photo very well.

Feel free to crop the pics or whatever DR George.

thanks penny. u haven't been around-i broke my left wrist. i'll email u instead of boring everyone with the facts again
-
Feel free to crop the pics or whatever DR George.
Got them! Hang on. :)

Der Brucer is watching one of his favorite shows. It stars Jennifer Love Hewett as a young woman who gives a little "eek" every time someone pinches her on the tush. It's called "The Goosed Whisperer."

Thank you George. I really wanted to share these.
and we wanted for them to be shared :D

Tom!! What wonderful photos!!! Yowza! And Laura, lovely!
-
The Male kangaroo of the group - see the photograph from last night's posts - looked to be well over six feet tall. He was more camera shy.
-
Thanks DRs Penny and Jane.
-
Do kangaroos, well, "talk"? Make noises?
-
sherlock really wanted to be played with, so i did. u can tell he didn't
get any exercise today.
i need to go soak my foot in alternating cold and warm water.
-
Oh I love those photos.....
Thanks to DRS LAURA and TOMovOZ and GEORGE.
DR JOSE's photo was nothing to sneeze at either.
-
Continued foot vibes to DR FJL.....and wrist and foot vibes to DR JANE.
DR CILLA LIZ - I like the Kitty Callie stories and hope they continue through to recovery.
-
Yes Kangaroos do make vocal sounds. (Did you watch "Skippy"?).
It's a very soft "tch tch" almost clicking sound.
Koalas are much louder though!
-
Credit cards are difficult and finding someone to help you that already has an account is the best solution. Said person or business is charged a FEE by the company for using a card.
It is also one of the biggest scams against small retail businesses - someone wants to come in a "save" you money and ends up charging you thousands of dollars - before you can stop them - since they have your bank account info and your permission to withdraw money. A nightmare!!!!
Maybe you could use a computer and PAYPAL.
-
We will be having a special at the Midnight Madness at World of Wisdom tomorrow night:
Past Life Reading - 15 minutes for $25.
-
I want to install a 'roo door!
Was it Irma who plied her trade on the rue d'or?
-
Years ago one of my teaching colleagues had a new set of dentures and had a habit of making clicking noises with them. The students called him "Skippy" (The Bush Kangaroo). He never caught on!
(I've since explained that to his ex wife and children).
-
Sean Martin Hingston was quite excellent in Susan Stroman's CONTACT, especially stood out in the first of the three dance pieces, but also quite excellent in the third and major dance piece.

DR JOSE's photo was nothing to sneeze at either.
Or sniff at.
-
;D
-
I don't remember DR Jose doing that - but then my memory is not all it should be these days.
-
Time to leave work. Until later!
-
I watched LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT when I got the home theater cranked up again. An OK episode but this kind of con is pretty standard in crime procedurals.
I've even seen the lesbian angle done before.
-
GHOST WHISPERER had some interesting scenes and tense moments
but it's never all that suspenseful when the main character on a show is in danger. You know they aren't going to kill her off.
The father/son scenario was interesting and I'll be looking to see what more they do with this.
-
MOONLIGHT had another fast paced and interesting hour though I don't like where they're heading with the reporter and Mick. I was just shouting at the screen, "No, no, no!"
-
WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB had a pretty standard whodunit. I guessed the identity of the killer pretty easily.
That's a nice looking man they've set Angie Harmon's character up with. But I still would take Rob Estes in a second.
-
And.... the Anthony Roo (Roo??!!) Warlow video of the month is....
My Funny Valentine...
Mr Warlow still had hair then! Unbelievable breath control!
(Have I ever said that I am a fan?!)
THAT rendition could be "my" funeral song if needed!

I watched 30 ROCK. Not as funny as some weeks have been (except for Alec Baldwin playing Tracy's parents; he was a total scream). Carrie Fisher was the guest star but not particularly funny.
-
And I got about half of MY NAME IS EARL watched. So far some funny moments. Conjugal visits in prison was the topic.
-
Hummm... I always thought that Skip To My Roo was a Foster song!
-
Of course, the English version is "Skip To My Loo!" (Oooh!)
NO bathroom joke, I know!!) ;)
-
I'm feeling really tired tonight, so I'm going to head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
Thanks for the kangaroo pictures, Tomovoz. How neat to be able to see them wild!
-
I love those kangaroo pictures, Tom! Wow!
We have kangaroos here in North Georgia at the Kangaroo Conservation Center. I've never been up to see them but your pictures make me want to go there!
-
Also, Tom, I was able to put your birthday CD to good use. I'm making a compilation of songs from 1947 for Greg's parents' 60th anniversary, and used "Ballerina", the birthday song of our beloved leader.
Greg is stumped, as am I, over what else we can do for them. I would like to take them on a trip around Atlanta to the places they used to live and hang out, and see how they've changed, but he's not sure his mom would be up for it. They don't get out much and they don't need "stuff", so it's always difficult!
The 60th anniversary is the diamond one. So that's out of my league. Now, a Neil Diamond CD, that I could manage...
Any brilliant ideas?
-
The "roos" are very much in their natural area and have not been transported here. They fend for themselves. A fence is around the perimiter of the water catchment area which at least protects the animals and their environment. There are still kangaroos outside that protected area though. The ones in this area are the grey variety rather than the larger "reds".
-
A compilation of songs about diamonds. (If they listen to Cds).
When she was in her late seventies, we took my Mother back to her childhood area. She remembered so much. Her childhood home was still there. I knocked on the door and the owner after hearing that my Mother had lived there, invited us in. My mother was able to explain what had been changed and why the odd design of the house. It was a wonderful experience for my mother and much better than a gift.

When one has a realtivley narrow hallway that one has covered from floor to ceiling (saving room of course for BK's pic and Kevin's pics), it is entirely impractical to attempt to maneuver down the hall without disrupting someone. So far, Ben and and Ant have stayed in place. Colleen Dewhurst and Norman Fell seem to be the greatest victims. John Gielgud and Ann Miller follow closely. Jason Graae, George Nader and Steve Reeves seem to stay relativey straight (NO comment). The same cannot be said of Tab Hunter. But that is due more to the pacement of the photo, I'm sure. have saved special spots for BK's and Kevn's photos so they will not be askew.

SPOILERS!
In the new version, she does NOT leave him at all!
It's him who goes with the young lad! LOL!
I think I like that version better. When I did the show, the whole audience turned on us when she ran off with the boy. Before that, they liked us, they really really liked us.

I take that back. The audience disliked us when she ran off with the boy; they hated us (sorry Woody) when the baker took her back.

They aren't eating at Denny's, Woody!

I was debating on getting that....since I have several other season sets (Flipper, Family Affair, Loretta Young Show, Gilligan's Island, etc) which I have not even gotten to yet, or just barely dipped into.
But I would like me some Marty Milner and George Maharis action!
As I remember, the real George Maharis action took place off-camera.

Some say that was his... best performance! :o ;)

I thought of bk last night when my DH ordered grilled macaroni and cheese. And
Greg thought "If anyone has ever heard of this, I bet it would be Jose!"
It was yummy!
I had deep-fried mac and cheese on Wednesday evening.

Good evening one and all... Been busy all day and have not been able to check in until now...
Went to TWELTH NIGHT tonight at MSUM and it was well done. Great fun, laughs and the jester singing the songs did a great job. The guy who played Sir Toby was a complete riot.
It was a fun night!
-
The guest director did a fantastic job with the kids. Shelley Gaza works in a number of theatres out west including the Shakespearean group based in Cedar City. They are also nominated to participate in the Theatre showcase at the Kennedy center in Washington DC.

UND nickname battle has reached a new level... 3 year probation and if they cant get the tribal groups to come to an agreement they have to change their nickname...
Rant is coming! be warned
I can understand why some people have an issue of using a group for a nickname but tell me why on god's green earth that UND has to be the poster child and be bloodied by the ncaa when schools in Utah, Illinois, Central Michigan and Florida get to keep their nicknames. UND has been dragged through the mud literally. Does the NCAA think that is going to people think that this is a positive experience. Not really, if it would have been done with respect on their part perhaps but instead we are made to look like we are the idiots and punished for that. The original agreement for UND to use the Fighting Sioux goes back to the 1930s. Heck the Chicago Blackhawks are still allowed to the logo. UND had a similar logo and they dropped it per NCAA request.
Heck, we are not even allowed to view the sports teams on the telly becuase of the NCAA dragging their feet in making a decision to allow the stations to broadcast leaving their decision to the last minute making it virtually impossible for local media to get to the venue to broadcast a play off game. Is that fair? I think not.
Sadly it will make some happy but I suspect it will leave a lot of bitter and angry feelings that will take a while to dissipate.

RAnt over!!
Hops down off of soapbox!

Happy Birthday Jed!
I hope you had a great day with family and friends!
