Well, you've read the notes, the notes were noteworthy, and now it is time for you to post until the noteworthy cows come home - they're seeing a show called Moo's Company.

Topic of the Day:  I'm not really a fan of soup, but a couple of weeks ago, I bought some Campbell's Healthy Request® Mexican Style Chicken Tortilla Soup (it sounded good and they were on sale).  It was low sodium and low fat and quite good. :) According to Campbell's website:

This robust soup is inspired by a classic Mexican favorite. Bold flavors are highlighted in a medley of tender chunks of white-meat chicken, rice, red peppers, corn, black beans, and tortilla in a hearty tomato-cheese broth, seasoned with chilies, cilantro, garlic, and lime. Now seasoned with lower sodium natural sea salt for gourmet flavor - and has 40% less sodium than our regular product.

Hi folks,

Soup sounds good with as cold as it has suddenly turned.   We are at 56 degrees as I type this .  That wouldn't be so bad if we weren't in the 70's just yesterday.

All I need right now is catch a cold.  :( I broke out the stage 3 jacket.  (Sweater, light jacket, medium heavy jacket, heavy jacket, light coat, heavy coat, heavy coat with thermals worn--in case you were wondering) :D

I make a mixed up bean soup with ham this is pretty good.  I'd like somereceipes.  I want to make a good onion soup but I'm not sure how.

Gotta scoot to work!

Have a wonderful day all!

TOD - Back when DR Elmore was still an Ohio resident, our community theatre company used to go to a local place called Duff's for post-rehearsal refreshments.  They had the best homemade vegetable soup, which I've tried to duplicate at home - to no avail.  Duff's is long gone and the community theatre company is a shadow of its former self.

I'm also a fan of tomato bisque, especially with Pepperidge Farm goldfish floating in it.

Not too fond of cold soups of any kind.

Sign of the season:  As DH Richard and I were leaving Kenwood Towne Centre yesterday, we eavesdropped a bit on a training session for the staff of the See's Candies kiosk that will appear, like Brigadoon, in the mall for the holiday season.  The trainer was waxing eloquent about the peanut brittle.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And just as I was about to head out to the gym, the handyman came by and told me that my window needs to be repaired.  Today.  Now.  -Apparently, the building inspector is coming tomorrow, so...

In any case, the handyman has been trying to figure out how to take the window out of it's casing for the past half hour of so.  And, yes, there's been lots of cursing, and some mention of a rusty screw breaking.  I guess I could still go to the gym right now, but something tells me I should stick around.  :-\
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: JoseSPiano on November 05, 2007, 07:06:57 AM
Of course, I did try to tell him that I had actually taken out the interior sash(?) once already for cleaning - it has to be in the "top" of the window frame in order to be tilted out properly.  But he insisted on cursing and looking at it puzzlingly for while.  As of now, he's removed the interior pane, and now he's trying to figure out how to get the exterior pane - the one with the broken glass - out of the casing.   -"Sash", "Casing", "Pane"... Yes, I know I'm probably using those terms interchangeably right now, but, frankly, I don't care.
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: JoseSPiano on November 05, 2007, 07:08:36 AM
And the kicker to this whole situation is that he has take the window up to the Bronx to get it fixed.  And, then, hopefully, he'll have time to bring it back later this afternoon - or tonight(?!?!?!?) - to put it back in.  :-\

I am looking forward to finishing up BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ today. It's a mammoth set and getting all of it watched and "digested" has been a major time commitment, more so than a typical TV-season box set. This being in German and with lots of symbolic touches that require constant attention, not to mention trying to get the "feel" of Germany in pre-Nazi takeover period has required other research and interpretation.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Whatever I have yet to try off the Daily Selection at Hale & Hearty.  ;)

I've been on a Chicken Soup kick lately.  Very satisfying, very homey.

Minestrone has always been a favorite too, especially when I come across a Northern Italian version which is sometimes called "White Minestrone" since it doesn't use tomatoes as part of it's base.  It's basically a northern Italian vegetable(!) soup.

Oy!  What a weekend.

I have, finally, caught up on my reorganization of DVDs and CDs.....and ALL are now ensconced in cases.

All plastic jewel boxes and keepcases are gone, gone, gone.  My condo feels light and airy now.

Of course, there IS one chore left....and that is to find the proper location to store all the inserts (booklets and traycards) for CDs and all the art for the DVDs.  Many DVDs came in boxes or the boxes were the keepcases with the art integrated into the keepcase.  I could not bring myself to throw those out.  So they still take up space.  I'm toying with boxing them up and hiding them.

I wish I were a carpenter.  I can "envision" some rather splendid made-to-order custom cases for storage of such things that could also have practical applications in my home.

So it's back at work after a busy three-day weekend that followed on the tail of a most hectic Thursday.

Today, all is calm for the moment.  I've been in the office 40 minutes and have seen nary a co-worker (which is strange for this time of morning).  We are, of course, short two MORE co-workers.  We now have three vacancies and the work load did not diminish just because these people left.

Sigh.

It will be interesting to see how my boss -- freshly arrived from Argentina at 1 p.m. this past Thursday -- doles out the must-do projects...yes, indeed.

I'll do my part, of course...and probably "then some".

Sigh.

From yesterdays discussion of siblings, here aer mine in numerical order.

Jack (b. 1948), Sue (b. 1951), Allen (b. 1953), Jeff (b. 1955), me (b. 1963), Dan (b. 1967).

Jack passed away at age 38 in 1987 of cancer (he had been exposed to agent orange during the Vietnam war..he was a pilot who sprayed the stuff).

Sue has always been my favorite, and she still is. She is the only sibling that lives here in the Salem area.

Allen is a great guy and used to be DR Jane's Fed Ex driver. A bit of a redneck and he seems to enjoy killing animals for sport (many heads are on his walls), but I still love him.

Jeff is the smartest of the group and is an engineer for the Federal Govt. He lives about an hour away, in Tigard.

Dan is the black sheep of the family (I know, you were expecting me to take on that role!!). He had an attitude problem for several years (he was doing a lot of drugs during that time), but is now clean and happy and healthy. I had no use for him the first 35 years of my life, but now I enjoy his company. My other siblings have taken a bit longer to let him back into the fold, but they are cordial with him.

Family gatherings are always fun and we all get along (this is inclusive of cousins, in-laws, aunts and uncles, etc). I am very grateful for the family that I have and the way in which we all behave ourselves around each other. That is not to say that we are all close buddie, buddies (due mainly to the fact of the age differences and that few of us live in close proximity), or are all that crazy about some of the other's spouses...but none of use let that interfer with being family, and when it is necessary, we just grin and bare it for the greater good.

Hugs to my dear Elmo... Break Leg vibes to cast and crew of Tooz Company...

SOUP! Nice day for some... my mom used to make a wonderful mushroom barley soup, and the best-ever sweet and sour cabbage borscht with boiled flanken (short ribs, for you civilians...). I inherited her gigantic enamel-on-steel soup pot, and the big black enamel-on-steel spoon. On very hot days, I like a good cold cucumber/yogurt soup, made in the blender, with dill and pepper. And gazpacho, another cold blender soup.

I like the chicken soup at Artie's, consumed across the table from Elmo...

Post by: PennyO on November 05, 2007, 09:13:01 AM
Now, about my meetings and interviews weekend in Seattle -

What a whirlwind of activity - omma so tired! This 'working' thing is exhausting - it would take a bit of doing to get back to the ol' grind, I tell ya!

I asked very pointed questions, and got some answers - the org is massively in debt, has a serious cash flow problem (example - the$30K or so they netted from the auction on Saturday night is earmarked for the Nov/Dec payroll... and that's without factoring in the 1000 hours of staff time it required. By my reckoning, that's 1000 x maybe $15 an hour average - or $15K they are not counting in the event cost... oy, vey!).

A budget of $2 million with major accounting flaws, and no CFO... an operations manager who feels the need to micromanage the 1200 volunteers (hundreds of whom have volunteered at their festival positions for at least a decade...), because 'volunteers can't be trusted to get it right.' Three newer YOUNG staff people who are pissed that they have to make room in the program for all this boring geezer stuff, like folk music and ethnic dance and all this traditional shit, when there's so much cool rap and grunge and experimental rock going on in kids' garages...(apparently, they can't spell "Folklife"...)

Geezer bluegrass players shaking their fists and mad as hell, because the Youngsters have moved them off of Bluegrass Hill after 35 years, to make room for highly amplified, pierced and tattooed screaming-obscenity rock - at the Northwest's oldest families-with-grandparents-and-little=kids event...

Add to that all the grandiose activities - unrelated to the mission statement - they have undertaken to fulfill in the past several years, year-round entrepreneurial performance fiascos (inspired by being situated too close to the actual professional performance org's at Seattle Center), and a phobic reluctance on the part of the Board to fundraise - and VOILA! Whoever takes over in January certainly has his (her?) work cut out!!! hahahahahahahaaaaa!!

Well, there are four finalists for the gig - and I'm one of them... and after telling them my ideas about sitting down and reading the mission statement together, cutting all the fat, focussing effort and dollars to producing the Northwest Folklife Festival, slapping a tourniquet on the dollar hemorrhage, creating an actual dollar amount expected from each board member (raised or contributed...), and getting back to a volunteer-run org - which worked great for 30 years - and and and... maybe I'm still in the race. I'm fine with it, either way. Nice to get that swell salary, nice to be retired. Hahahahahahahahaaaa!!!!!

Best part of the weekend - I got to hang with some legendary bluegrass and klezmer artists, hob nob with a legendary Korean photographer, reminisce with some of the folks who began the Festival over 35 years ago... lots of inspiring stories, inspiring lives. Most of the people involved with Folklife are True Believers - and it is THEY who are conducting this search for new leadership. It is an honor to know them.

Hiya, Ginny! Yes - some of it is WAY more aggravation than I'd like - but I'm an old Folkie from the sixties, and my personal mission is the preservation and stewardship of these music and dance traditions for the future... it's why I still pick up a guitar and sing the old songs every chance i get. Knoephla soup is a regional delicacy
Interesting.  I hadn't heard of this before, and had to look it up.

Onions and potatoes in a chicken broth, with the knoephla (small egg and flour dumplings) cooked in the boiling broth, and cream added at the end when the knoephla and potatoes are cooked.  It's origins are from Germany.  Sounds tasty.

TOD:
For some reason, my culinary excursions to date have never really included making much soup; I make chicken stock by the gallon every few months, but that's about it. Surprising, because I love just about every hot non-tomato-based soup I can think of... chicken, vegetable, potato-leek, squash, french onion... bring 'em on, and have a second bowl ready, please! Favorites include a spicy wheat-berry soup that my mother used to make regularly, and now almost never does, and grunkern (roast spelt) soup, a delicacy amongst the German-Jewish denizens of my neighborhood.

And, fercryinoutloud, do *I* have to be the first to point out the following line from today's post?

It is especially good on a cold winter's day.

There are a lot of Germans in North Dakota and throughout the plains. Ironically depending what part of the state or German group is closest to you there are slight differences but the basics are the same. Germans from Russia have a more spartan recipe and the Reichsduetschers will sometimes add a bit of meat. My grandmother would sometimes add a bit of shredded beef or chicken if she had some left over.

Speaking of leaves...

One of my most treasured possessions growing up was a book that my grandparents made for me.  They were living on the East coast, and I was growing up near Los Angeles.

In autumn, they collected 10 or 12 kinds of leaves, pressed them, and pasted them into a hand-made book.  They created a story around them, and also labeled each kind of leaf.

I remember going through that book, over and over - or having my parents read it to me - until I learned the tree names associated with each leaf.

Since phone calls were expensive [to us at the time], we used to keep up with each other by recording reel-to-reel tapes and mailing them back and forth.

My thoughts on last night's AMAZING RACE.

*
*
*
*

I was so happy to have the show back on.

I am so curious who everyone's favorites are. I don't necessarily know who mine are yet. I need to see how competitive everyone is next week!

I did not like the team that got eliminated. But i didn't really think it was fair. They must have waited like 2 hours with that non-responsive donkey. I thought they should have been allowed to go back and get another one.

I know some people might say they were mean to it. But i'm betting they were there for a very long time before they yelled (btw i think yelling is totally wrong).

I'm curious what people think of the brother/sister, the goths, the ministers, nathan/jenny (bickering couple with donkey probs), the hippies, the chinese father/daughter.

I like the brother sister. I think the chinese father/daughter are so lovely (although i just don't think they will go that far).

I am not sure about the goths.

I am really not sure about the ministers. I just don't think they have the physical ability needed.

I actually like the hippies. And the other dating team that did well (they had a fight, she had long curly brown hair, she told him to stop the car when she thought they were going the wrong way ...).

RE: Brothers & Sisters.

This show has really gotten so much better.  It wasn't that good when it first started. But now it is really wonderful.

I think it is rob lowe and calista. They are so great together.

Anyhow, last night's show was full of surprises.  I loved seeing the help Calista/Kitty got to deal with the pregnancy issue. Funny scenes.

But how heartbreaking when kitty went to the doctor. I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting a wedding! :(

I do not like the friend who is fooling around with tommy (and now justin). And i'm not really looking forward to watching justin battle his addiction again.

I was happy with the joe/sarah outcome. But i found it slightly unrealistic.  Are you telling me that joe turned into a jerk. And planned for full custody and then he would just give it up? I don't buy it. BUt it made for a feel-good moment.  The daughter/Paige really is sweet.

I didn't watch the previews (i do'nt usually). So i will watch next week blindly!

I was very pleased with the outcome of TAR last night...the team that left was the team I most disliked! The donkey incident was of there own making, they just did not know, or figure out in time, how to deal with it.

I like all of the remaining teams, except the bickering couple (don't recall the names), at this point. I think it will be a fun adventure with them all.

I have the whole series set to record, so I don't know why it didn't. Unless I was fiddling wit it, or something, and accidently told it not to record. I know I had been switching some shows to record from the HD channel instead of the regular channel...so maybe I screwed up on that one.

DR Elmore, sending you a big hug.  i wish i could knock some sense, & compassion into your difficult brother.  when my sister had me in tears or screaming my brother calmed me down by reminding me, it could be worse-we could be her.

remember you are loved by many, many people who know & value the person you are.

Thank you, Nursie! I'm grateful to know such wonderful folk on this site and I appreciate all of your kindness.  Some days - in this case the past week - the frustration piles up and I would rather have fun on this site than piss and moan all the time.

I much prefer a good laugh to self-pity, and when I don't feel social, i know I can always count on a good laugh from some DR.  Bless you all!

I grew up with one sister - Patricia - we were both adopted.
We "get along" but we are I think, quite different in terms of values and attitudes.  She has two children.

From my "blood family":-  (My Father is 101 and My Mother is 83)

I am in more frequent contact with my Father than I am with my Mother. They divorced 30+ years ago.

A brother and sister from my Father's first marriage.

Lloyd is 78  He has two sonss, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
Fay is 80. she has two children (I've not met them) and two grandchildren.

I am not in contact with Fay but we have met.
I am in regular contact with Lloyd and his children.

From my Father's marriage to my Mother,
Two Brothers:

Grant who will be 53 in two weeks time.
(He is in contact with My Mother but with no-one else - his choice)
Chris who is 51.
(I am am in regular contact with Chris)

No, I miss him because he died two years ago and although we weren't close any longer before his death, he would call once or twice a year just to touch base. The soup I miss because he didn't leave the recipe here for me to replicate. (He did leave some of his recipes here.)

Lunch ran late, but I did have time to watch several things when I got home.

I began by finishing the featurettes on the Criterion set of B.A. There was a documentary filmed in 1979 where we get to see Fassbinder directing and get to see how certain shots were set up, "cheated," done over and again in big crowd scenes to get things exactly right. Most of the scenes were shot in one take except for the big crowd scenes with lots of people on the streets where things had to be worked out painstakingly.

Amazingly, the movie came in four weeks ahead of schedule.
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: Matt H. on November 05, 2007, 01:28:20 PM
There was also a featurette on how the movie was remastered. Filmed in 16mm, we get to see them digitizing it frame by frame (after clean-up, color correction) and then transferring it to 35mm film.

Funny thing, though, the scenes they showed in the telecine machine look far, far better than what ended up on DVD. They "enhanced" it TOO much and made it a brown mess.
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: Matt H. on November 05, 2007, 01:29:34 PM
And a final featurette was a film professor compairing the original book to the 1931 film version and to Fassbinder's version. That was interesting, too, and when I go back down, I'll be watching the 1931 version. It's about 90 minutes long.

Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: JoseSPiano on November 05, 2007, 02:10:07 PM
So...

As I mentioned in my previous post, the turnout for today's auditions was surprisingly small.  We were scheduled to go from 1:00-6:00, but we done at 2:30.  There were a few(!) good people who came in, but, alas, it was sort of a lackluster afternoon filled with lackluster talent.  However, there were a few "good bad" ones that brought a secret smile to my face every now and then.  ;)
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY

And I believe I "witnessed" my favorite audition so far this year during the course of today's session.  It would take a while to describe exactly what happened, so instead I will describe it in the following list of "Do Nots"...

-DO NOT ever think that you can find the starting pitch on your own.

-DO NOT ever think that singing along with the movie soundtrack is the same thing as singing with a pianist.

-DO NOT ever assume the music you bought is in the same key.

-DO NOT cut out the exact 16 measures of your sheet music you're going to sing, then give them to the pianist in a "puzzle" that needs to be taped to the piano in order to be readable.

-DO NOT ever place money of any sort (coinage, bills, etc.) on the table in front of the casting agents during the course of your audition.

And, finally, most importantly...

-DO NOT ever leave the room, and then ask the monitor, "What do you do when the pianist can not play your music"?

YES!  All of the above happened - or rather did not happen - during the course of one 16-bar, 20-second audition today.

;D

And it was VERY cool picking up today's New York Times, and scanning the special NYC Marathon supplement and seeing my brother's name among the finishers' listing.  He came in 17,145th place.  Or the 17,153rd finisher out of 30,604 runners/finishers (if you take into account tie times)...

M Barnum, I know I am opening myself up for obscene comments, but my question is serious.  Were you taught to hunt for sport when you were growing up, or is that an interest that Allen got from somewhere else?

Waiter there's a Flea In My Soup.

Free-association time!  There was a musical revue from the 1980s in Seattle that was called, "Waiter, There's a Slug In My Latté" (and the "slug" of the title refers to the slimy, shell-less-snail kind of slug).  I have a copy of the recording and it's pretty funny. ;D

Does anyone (dakota maybe) know what is going to happen to the soaps with the writers' strike?  Will they keep going? Show reruns?

According to an acquaintance many of the soaps will have scripts into late december and early January. They film up two weeks in advance and they also shut down between Christmas and new  Years. With any luck, that will bring new stuff up to about the middle of January. AFter that it is anyone's call.

After that if they continue, it will be either a few writers crossing the lines or freelance writers. I do recall the nuttiness of the writing back in the last strike via tapes and some of it was rather shaky at times. I also recall an interview that Matt had done a while back where he mentioned that they continued filming during the strike and they never knew where the scripts were coming from. However, anything filmed now will not be modified but filmed as is.

In the case of DOOL, it cant get anyworse. I have not been impressed at all with Hogan Sheffer's work. He did great on ATWT but evidently lightning does not strike twice.

In the case of DOOL, they have another pin in the casket in 08 and that will be the Olympics.

It will Soapnet but I think there they might show reruns of SoapTalk, classic soaps like Another World or the primetime ones.

I would love them to show Search for Tomorrow...

DR TCB, my dad hunted and he passed that along to my siblings (he was actually step-dad to my 3 older brothers and my sister).

My dad took my little brother and I on many early morning hunting trips during our frequent weekends of camping up at Diamond Lake and/or Howard Prairie from the time I was about 5.

Frankly, at the time, I had no interest in getting up when it was still dark out, bundling up and hopping into the chilly 1969 Ford pickup. The only good thing was the hot chocolate and donuts that mom brought along.

I can recall many a time when a skinned deer would be hanging at our camp.

The first time I witnessed my dad shoot a deer and then gut it...well, that was the end of it for me (I was not more the 6 years old). The next time dad took me out hunting I made so much noice (jumping off of downed trees, talking loudly, throwing rocks) that I was never made to go hunting with him again.

I had no interest in killing things nor seeing them get killed. My brothers, however, all took to hunting like a flea takes to a dog. They all still hunt to this day and, for the most part, have handed the blood sport down to their kids. All of my family and all of our family friends from southern Oregon are hunters.

Hunting seemed quite natural at the time since I grew up with it. It wasn't until I was an adult that I really gave much thought to how I felt morally about it. And the subject is never debated at family gatherings due to my nearly being lynched several Christmases ago! LOL!

I have never hunted, and never plan to.

Der B's son-in-law loves to hunt.  He doesn't care for venison, however.

We get the meat, and get several great meals that way.

I suggested to der B that we get the SIL a book called Field Dressing and Butchering Deer, mostly in jest.  Der B called his daughter and told her about it... and she said "Certainly!"  And she's dead serious!

With the writers strike going on, it will be interesting to see how it plays into SAG and AFTRA talks next summer. There contract is up in either June or July.

Why do I get the feeling TElly viewing in 08 will be difficult at best...

There is always that remote possibility that actors and directors could go on strike next summer.

My mom is from Germany and the older of her two younger brothers (she's the oldest and also has a younger sister) is a hunter.  In Germany, though, you can't just go out hunting anytime or anywhere you want.  You have to have a special license AND a place to hunt.  Germany is a small country and (if I remember correctly) they have special hunting clubs because of the limited game that's available.  It's quite expensive to join.

T.O.D.

I love clam chowder.  I prefer New England style, but I have never turned down a good Manhattan style chowder, either.  Every time I go to a restaurant or cafe that has clam chowder, I have to try it.  When i was a host in a restaurant in downtown Tacoma, we had a chef who made clam chowder AND salmon chowder that was to die for; and I hate salmon!  His secret was sherry.

I love a good hearty split pea soup.  Maybe I will have to make some this weekend.

Last night, the DP and I traveled to Sacramento and saw the National Tour of Whistle Down the Wind.   An ALW show that I've never seen and one Cast Recording that I was never too excited about.  The show was really good.  However, the direction was lacking.  It was rather slow.  The cast was great and the kids were fantastic.  I didn't have high expectations going in to the show and I didn't tell the DP the plot for fear he may not be interested.  In the end, I was quite surprised about what a cute little show this actually is and it even has a message.  The DP found the conductor distracting as he has bopping around like a metronome, actually, he was the metronome as he was playing while conducting.  I had seen this guy conduct before, I believe it was the National Tour of Hairspray and he is quite animated.  The band was great, however.  I think I'd want to see the show again, and I hope it becomes available to do someday as it definitely has possibilities and charm.

If you want to read about what else happened yesterday, you can read my blog (http://maestromatthew.livejournal.com/) for more details.

This is coming to Seattle next week.  I was thinking about going, but I don't have a lot of time with rehearsals, and all.  I still might go up...we'll see. :)

DR George - if you have a chance, go see it, you'll be glad you did.

I just bought a ticket. ;) Orchestra Right, seat C7, on the far right outside aisle.  THIRD row from the stage!! ... well, fourth row, if you count the front row in the center and left sections that doesn't continue on the right:

Why My Mother Has Two Pictures of Me Smashing a Dill Pickle With a Hammer

Today is Guy Fawkes Day, which is when British people who still hold a grudge against the aforementioned Mr. Fawkes burn him in effigy. I personally have no issue with Guy Fawkes, but I do have a beef with a certain person whom I have nicknamed The Pickle for reasons that are a story in themselves. I didn't think I could actually burn a pickle in effigy, so I smashed it with a hammer.

I began my evening watching the original 1931 German version of BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ. Well cast, nicely directed for the period in which it was made. No clean up had been done on the movie, of course, so there wasn't a frame that didn't have scratches, dirt, debris, etc.

Had a bunch of characters naturally omitted, but the four major ones were all there.

On the news they are no crying about a labor shortage because for decades  North Dakota's #1 export was not wheat or cattle but its own young. Funny how the tables turn.

Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: DakotaCelt on November 05, 2007, 11:58:35 PM
However the definition of media is multifaceted but has to primary parts: the message and the messenger
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: DakotaCelt on November 06, 2007, 12:00:04 AM
Media monitoring involves the careful and meticulous observation of incoming data. One must then analyze and create a data set to come up with a hypothesis of action and inaction
Title: Re:TWO'S COMPANY
Post by: DakotaCelt on November 06, 2007, 12:02:20 AM
Since I am waiting for news... Attendees of the show would be the messenger

The audience also acts as a gatekeeper in determining what information they want to retain from the messenger

Back from a hugely long day and a mercifully almost problem-free show.  The audience (at least the ones I heard from) really seemed to love the show, and I'm proud to repeat a comment Stephen Schwartz said to me as he came out of the theater - "I should have known that with you it would only be two hours - THANK YOU!"  Both Alan and Stephen seemed to have enjoyed everything and they hung out afterwards and spoke to the cast.

And now, must write notes.

Anyway, while I was going through my CDs (still ::)) in boxes in my garage, I found this CD:

and wondered if it's the same Milla whose CD BK is selling.  They don't really look alike, and my Kritzerland CD is at work, but I'll listen to them both tomorrow.

I also found my original Broadway cast recording to Hairspray!  It was NOT in the correct box.  I hate it when that happens.

;)

I'm listening to the "Dream a Little...Milla" CD.  Her voice doesn't sound familiar, to I really don't think that they're the same person.  It's just interesting to have two different jazz singers named Milla. :)

The original movie was not a musical.  That was adapted into the Broadway musical and then a movie of the musical was made.  The same thing happened with The Producers.  It was a non-musical movie (but it had some songs), then it became a stage musical and that was filmed.  What goes around, comes around. ;)

Both...three different recordings for Jekyll & Hyde.

Dakota, have you ever gone to the Cast Album Database (http://www.castalbumdb.com/)[/b]?  It's quite informative! :D
