Well, you've read the notes, the notes swung, and now it is time for you to post until the swingin' cows come home. They're currently singing their favorite swingin' song, Come Moo With Me.

And the word of the day is: FLETCHER!

Nobody here but us chickens.

Will we never get to page two?

La dee da.

I suppose I shall now toddle off to the bedroom environment.

A Technicolor by any other name would smell as sweet...

Welcome to new DR CHICKENS.
-
Well the S'More Entertainment Season Six of The Danny Thomas Show arrived yesterday.
It's great! All of the ORIGINAL titles are at the beginning of each episode, the episodes are broadcast NOT syndicated. There are interviews with Angela Cartwright, Marjorie Lord, and Sid Melton. The Angela and Marjorie interviews are very nice. The questions are edited out and they just talk about the show and the other cast members.
Lord says she was completely typecast and unable to work in anything else, except a Bob Hope movie - and tells a funny story about introducing her real husband to an Indianapolis matron at a party only to be told angrily that she was "married to Danny Thomas!"
The episodes are fun....Hans Conreid, Lucy & Desi, William Demarest (as Lord's father), Dinah Shore, Tony Bennett, and Annette Funicello all make guest appearances.
A fun show.....get it if you can....especially if you enjoyed the show years ago. There is also about 10 minutes of bloopers and retakes that will make you smile.
-
EL CID!!!!
Supporting cast in addition to Mr Thring includes John Fraser, Genevieve Page, and Herbert Lom.

Oh I meant to take a picture of the beautiful full moon last night, and forgot!!! Darn it!

And The Song Of The Day Is: ONE MORE ARROW
(Thank You Elton John)

Are you referring to Miss Blue, DR TCB, or the real thing? ;)
The REAL Thing up in the sky! ;D

Monday Wednesday morning greetings! It only seems like Monday to me, because it's my first day back after 11 off. Things seem pretty much the same around here.

TOD:
ASK BK:
What factors play into your decision on whether or not to take a writing credit on projects that you are involved in, such as the mentoring thing?
-
And the word of the day is: FLETCHER!
"Fletcher? I 'ardly know 'er!" Sorry, couldn't resist...
Muchos Gracias to all the well-wishers from yesterday, and apologies for the errant-and-truant-ness.
The Lovely Wife(tm) and I sat down to watch the Back to the Future trilogy this past week for the first time (she'd never seen the second, and I only saw the third movie once, back in the theater), and we got a huge kick out of seeing all the inter-related characterizations and scenes, many of which were quite subtle (in the first movie, fr'instance, the mall where Marty meets the professor is called "twin pines". At the movie end, the camera pans across the mall, which is now called "single pine mall" or something similar, since Marty knocked over one of the trees in the past in an earlier scene. Very subtle, doesn't hurt you if you don't get it, but probably missed by 95% of the original audience).
Question for bk: what's your favorite movie in-joke or subtle reference?

Do you think he gets his eyebrows done?

My thoughts exactly.
I think I'll have brussel sprouts tonight, in honor of Fletcher!

Since there are so many librarians on HHW, thought it might be of interest to some to peek into the world of a music librarian for a symphony orchestra, here (http://www.playbillarts.com/features/article/7528.html).

Very interesting, DR Singdaw. I got a little taste of that kind of work serving as librarian for the church choir. Bet that orchestra librarian doesn't have to step over bottom-feeders to do her job ::).
-
Good morning!
It's cold and overcast again today, but it seems like the clouds may be breaking up; it's certainly brighter now than it was 30 minutes ago. Warming into the 40s.

I'm guessing yes. What do I win? A date with the prince perhaps?

TV Reminder:
New episodes tonight of CRIMINAL MINDS (I don't watch it), CSI: NY, LAW & ORDER, and of course, the ever-popular PROJECT RUNWAY.
Also, a new episode of RENO 911! at 10:30. I'll have to record a later broadcast since the DVR will be very busy during the 10 p.m. hour.
-
I'm actually looking forward to rejoining JAG this afternoon for more episodes. It's an enjoyable procedural. In the last episode, one that involved a stolen submarine, there wasn't a single courtroom scene, so not every episode is court-based.
-
Just checking in-- I'll be back later. I'm off to drive to DR Music Guy's house to take our beloved, shared dog/child, Sugar, for a walk. Oh Joy!!!!!!!!!
-
Good morning, everyone.
Our weather has warmed up to the 40's--typical January temps and much nicer than that really cold stuff we had a couple days ago.
-
A great big HHW welcome to new DR CHICKENS!
Now, tell us something about yourself.
-
How are you doing, Kerry??
-
FEEL BETTER SOON VIBES to DR TPunk!
-
I'm heading down now to clean the den. Then, I'll check the mail and start on some lunch preparation.
WBBL.

Oh and tonight there is also a new episode of AMERICAN IDOL.
And following that there is some bizarre new game show (which somehow i think will be popular).
They attach contestants to lie detectors. And they have to answer 21 questions. With the chance to win $500K. But the questions get very personal and disturbing.
But coming on right after IDOL would seem to guarantee it some viewers. I think i will record it because i am slightly curious.

Matt H, I too am very surprised you never watch JAG. I was disappointed they didn’t keep his original partner. At least I got to see her in PRETENDER.

BK's UP and LURKING.

I am quite certain no one else here is watching, but I have been getting quite a kick out of the latest "Biggest Loser."

What is IB Technicolor compared to other technicolors?
IB stands for Imbibition, which is the form of printing used by Technicolor to yield Technicolor prints - they used the three dyes (yellow, cyan, and magenta) and the prints were passed through three times, I believe (there's technical info in the Internet) - those dyes were not prone to any fading, and were very rich. Eastman prints were done in a one-pass, one-color (all dyes in one) system - obviously when done new color was rich and fine, but never quite as vibrant as IB Tech prints, but until the late 70s or early 80s were completely prone to fading and did, sometimes within just a few years. Intergegs were prone to fading, too, which is why when they use them they have the brown bias and why you have to compensate in the telecine room.
-
It rained buckets last night.
I'm hoping for ladles later this week.
-
Yesterday we attempted a nice hike but the trails were too icy. Today I’m going to walk in the park where they should be fine.
Time to bundle up so I can leave.

ASK BK:
What factors play into your decision on whether or not to take a writing credit on projects that you are involved in, such as the mentoring thing?
Really depends on what I feel about the project, how much I've actually done, how much is completely mine. Not sure what I'm doing on this particular show, but the most I would take is "Additional Music and Lyrics" If I do or don't, I will still have a piece of the show and would get publishing money on the songs that contained material by me, just like Bob Merrill got publishing money on Hello, Dolly.
-
Question for bk: what's your favorite movie in-joke or subtle reference?
I don't know about favorite, but I laughed hard at the end of What's Up, Doc - the Love Story line.
-
Oh, and I'm up. I'll mosey over to Staples in an hour or so, then deliver the pages.
-
Lunchtime! Leftover pizza from last night and
Page 3!

Good Afternoon!
-Well, it's already after noon here in New York City. In any case...
I'm up, I'm up... And I've been up since the morning. However, since putting my feet on the floor, I've been watching TV, working on some projects, and making some phone calls. Not a bad day so far.
-
Just checking in-- I'll be back later. I'm off to drive to DR Music Guy's house to take our beloved, shared dog/child, Sugar, for a walk. Oh Joy!!!!!!!!!
Oh, Joy, indeed, DR Kerry! And I hope that Sugar gives both of you wet, sloppy kisses, and vice versa.
??? I think you get my drift.

Yes, I think we do. How long has it been since you've dated, DR Jose?
;)
-
I don't know about favorite, but I laughed hard at the end of What's Up, Doc - the Love Story line.
That was the first thing that popped into my mind!
-
My coworkers have told me that they don't appreciate the arctic cold that I brought back from Wisconsin, but they love, love, love the Fannie May (http://www.fanniemay.com) assorted chocolates that I also brought.
-
Yes, I think we do. How long has it been since you've dated, DR Jose?

Not that long at all. Not long at all.
And you, DR Ron Pulliam?

You think I eat all those donuts and cookies all by myself?

Are we STILL on page three?

Will we never get to page four?

And the word of the day is: FLETCHER!
Fletcher is sound asleep on my bed, and if you're smart you'll leave him be or else he might come over and lay down on top of you!

You think I eat all those donuts and cookies all by myself?
I've SEEN how you behave around all those donuts and cookies! ::)

Good afternoon, all! This morning I did yesterday's laundry, secured my storage space at 107th and Columbus Avenue, set up an appointment with the movers to move a ton of crap to the space on Friday morning and ordered 2 4-drawer filing cabinets. This afternoon I will stop at Bed Bath and Beyond to purchase a mattress cover to securely contain the mattress and seal in any bugs, stop at Staples for another round of storage boxes, head home and continue the discarding and sorting.
I keep telling myself it's all for the good, but today was another shelling out of $600! I hope some work comes in soon so keep those positive vibes heading in my direction! Please!!
I've decided I need to buy a new metal bed frame; I'm not sure I want to keep the old wooden one around. I had a captan's bed, since I needed more drawer space, and I will need a bed frame high enough off the ground to allow me to store tubs to hold my clothing under it. So, any recommendations on what my new bedframe should be?
-
Fletcher likes tasty treats...

Good day one and all!!

Will wonders ever cease...
Shirley Jones aka Mrs. Partridge will appear on a soap opera. I have not watched Days for well over a year but I did catch this on the boards and it is a picture in her costume as Colleen Brady...
No clew what the story is about either....

If he could hear, one of Fletcher's favorite songs would be "Me and My Arrow," from The Point.
-
My coworkers have told me that they don't appreciate the arctic cold that I brought back from Wisconsin, but they love, love, love the Fannie May (http://www.fanniemay.com) assorted chocolates that I also brought.
Fannie May is good....
A cousin of mine who lives in Wiinnepeg says it got dwon to -30 and that is the temperature...
-
Not that long at all. Not long at all.
And you, DR Ron Pulliam?
Physical or metaphysical?
-
Continued Vibes to Elmore!!! May the bugs be gone far and away!!
I am glad to see that you are feeling a bit better!
Get well vibes to TPunk!
-
I'm off in a few minutes to drive down to the University of Dayton to guest lecture in an English class about grantseeking research.
Bye for now!
-
I've SEEN how you behave around all those donuts and cookies! ::)
Like the seagulls in "Finding Nemo", eh?
"Mine."
"Mine. Mine. Mine."
"Mine-Mine!"
"MineMineMineMineMineMine!"

Re: subtle jokes in films -
Tagged onto the start of National Treasure: Book of Secrets was a Goofy short, How to Hook Up Your Home Theater. It's new, but very much in the style of the classic Goofy "How To" films.
At one point, there's a quick shot of a mantle, with two framed pictures on it. Der Brucer spotted the picture of Walt Disney - I'm the one who recognized the caracature next to it as a drawing of John Lassiter! As if I wasn't laughing hard enough, that almost split my gut!
-
One of bk's comments stuck in my mind today....
"Wheat are we talking about......"
-
It has been 12 (count 'em 12) DAYS since TomovOz last posted.
Does anyone know why?
I know I'm usually not on-line at the same times he is, but we manage to cross paths at least a few times each week.
I'm missing him, I am.
-
Ron Pulliam has never metaphysical he didn't enjoy!
;D
-
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that Thring.
An EL CID reference.

Wow! I just saw Shirley Jones last night on an episode of MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY. She was wearing a pony tail and circle skirt.

Work arriving vibes for DR ELMORE.
My favorite joke from JOKE NIGHT AT HHW:
What did the Zen Master say to the Hot Dog Vendor?
Make me one with everything.
Very funny, DRJOSE.....got lots of laughs yesterday at the World of Wisdom.
-
The rest of the tribe/pack just made a great deal of noise. A nice young fellow was walking his black lab on the street, and all of ours insisted on howling hello. I went out, and learned that he/they is/are looking for the lab's young partner/buddy, a smaller black lab who went missing last night.
Hope they find that pup soon!

Ooh! Ooh!
I've gone and started

Mosey Over to Staples.
That's the opening number for my new musical: The Golden Apple Laptop

Lost doggies....lost doggies.....

I miss Tomovoz also RLP....
I hope he is okay.
-
I hope Tom is well...
-
Who here likes knock-knock jokes?
-
Yes, where in tarnation IS tomovoz?
-
Was there some contretemps on the board nine days ago?
-
Has anyone heard from him?
-
not that i know of....
-
If anyone is interested in the larger version of the picture, let me know. I resized it from the larger so the board would not go into IMAX!
-
I don't think that anything particular caused DR Tomovoz's recent E&T-ness. I think it's just a general malaise, intensified by losing DD Fosca.
-
he could be having puter troubles also... just a thought...

***CONTINUED VIBES OF FORTITUDE*** for DR elmore3003

MR BK do you have the 2-Disk Deluxe Edition of EL CID or the Limited Collector's Edition?
Would you recommend one over the other?
-
Good Afternoon!
Puttering and more puttering...
-
DR JRand - I like that Zen hot dog joke too. :)
*And in the spirit of full disclosure, I was copying and pasting most of those jokes from: http://www.rinkworks.com/jokes/
Who knew?

There is no escaping karma
In a previous life, you never called,
you never wrote, you never visited.
And whose fault was that?

DR elmore - You can buy "bed risers" for your frame. A couple of different companies make them, and they come in various heights. I'm sure the store down the street from you carries them.

DR JRand57, The New York Times has a searchable online archive going back that far, but I think they charge for access. Perhaps one of our librarian DRs can help?

I have the Limited Edition El Cid, but unless you really want a replica of the comic book and the program and some poor copies of photos, I don't know that it's worth the extra money. I got it very cheaply from a friend.
-
I am so very glad to know that El Cid means "The Cid."
:)

I had a captan's bed
Maybe the captain would like it back?

Where else on the Internet?
I gotta tell you... ;)

Maybe the captain would like it back?
He and Tennille have been having a rough time of it on the floor!

I got the impression from backstage gossip on CYMBELINE that Mr Cake likes to be appreciated for his physical attributes. Perhaps he only does plays with semi-nudity? He's the one on the left.
I'm outa here now. Tomorrow!

Gives a whole new meaning to "Let them eat Cake!" doesn't it? :o
-
Mmmmm....Caaaaaake....

And speaking of Marie Antoinette...
Which do you think is the more disastrous lyric from the stage version of Victor/Victoria: "Paris Makes Me Horny," or "Louis Says"? ;)

What really makes it hard for me is that these days I rarely find actors & actresses I truly enjoy. Adding to it is the fact that he was my age, & that sort of thing makes you think about your own mortality in uncomfortable ways.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to lunch with cousin Lori, then I shall return and I hope to at least write a couple of pages whilst I wait for muse Margaret's report.
-
DR Elmore, I have this bed and love it. It's very study and we've owned it for 15 years.
It comes from:

My bed is usually a bit neater than that (when I'm not in it, anyway...).

DR Edisaurus, you're your OWN "She of the Evil Eye!" :D

Unfortunately it does make one think of one's mortality. He died way too young.
-
DR Edisaurus, you're your OWN "She of the Evil Eye!" :D
Never in my entire life have I had my own "She of the Evil Eye".
Usually people realize this when they enter my house.

Ask BK: if this is unseemly, just ignore and move on, but I'm assuming you receive some kind of revenue from the Google ads at the top. My question is, does the revenue increase based on the number of hits you receive? Merely curious...
-
Jrand, if there is something I can look up for you, send me an email.
-
does the revenue increase based on the number of hits?
Heck, if that's the case, I'd even click on and follow Ann Coulter down the rabbit hole! :P

But I'd rather follow Mr. Cake! ;)
-
Fletcher is sound asleep on my bed, and if you're smart you'll leave him be or else he might come over and lay down on top of you!

:D Sherlock was extra cuddly this morning & gave me loads of nose blows & nose kisses, which are much better than tongue kisses on a dog that size.

Umm...yes, my brother-in-law, who also plays the tuba.
-
Edi, nice bed.
Elmore, rod iron beds are in style right now & come in a wide range of styles & prices. You should be able to find one suitable for your needs. Check the used furniture stores too.
I also think one will look very nice in your place. Good luck!
-
I am a big Cake fan, in all possible interpretations of that statement.
-
The sun finally peered from behind the clouds and it has turned into a pretty day. Still cold, but not wretchedly cold like the last few days.
-
I began my afternoon by watching last night's SVU, in my opinion the best episode of the season. A container of frozen embryos is stolen, and there's a mad rush to get them back before the liquid nitrogen dissipates and they're destroyed. Then, once they're found, there's more sad findings. Lots of sad stories along the way that were all very intriguing and any one of which could have made for an excellent hour drama.
-
Next, I watched four JAG episodes. One seemed very similar in tone and story to A FEW GOOD MEN. Corbin Bernsen plays a judge advocate in several of these episodes.
-
TV Reminder:
New episodes tonight of CRIMINAL MINDS (I don't watch it),
Those of us who do, thank you for the reminder.
der Brucer
-
The Christmas edition was called "The Ghost of Christmas Past" and in it, the story moves back to 1969 with the cast all playing different characters. The widescreen shrinks to the old 4:3 ratio, and it had the potential to be something really unique. Sadly, some of the actors were overparted. Karri Turner did a lousy impression of Phyllis Diller, and Catherine Bell was impersonating a "famous" singer called Jenny Lake, though her singing voice was barely adequate. David James Elliott was playing his father, so other than wearing a mustache, he had the least to do in terms of turning in a different characterization from the fellow he normally plays.
An unusual episode, and it did show us how Harm's father got shot down and when, but otherwise, it was a gimmick show lacking in the drama that is a hallmark of the series.
-
Those of us who do, thank you for the reminder.
der Brucer
You're welcome. I knew you were a regular viewer. I believe this is the last new episode of the show available as is tonight's CSI: NY.
-
I finished the afternoon skimming quickly through AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest for me.
-
Since there are so many librarians on HHW, thought it might be of interest to some to peek into the world of a music librarian for a symphony orchestra, here (http://www.playbillarts.com/features/article/7528.html).
That is quite interesting. Thanks for posting this. :)
-
TV Reminder:
Also, a new episode of RENO 911! at 10:30. I'll have to record a later broadcast since the DVR will be very busy during the 10 p.m. hour.

Here's a great story: When we left for church Sunday, Richard had a huge garment bag containing his clerical garb, a briefcase, and an audiobook from my library (checked out on my card). We stopped for breakfast and when we were on the highway he suggested we start listening to the book. It was nowhere to be found in the car, so he suspected that he'd set in on top of the car in the garage and forgotten about it. We fully expected to find it in the garage or driveway, but did not. He retraced our route to the breakfast place and didn't find it. He said, "I guess I'll have to pay Dayton Metro Library for an audiobook."
I had reason a few minutes ago to look at my record and noticed that that particular title was no longer on my "Items Out" list. Further investigation revealed that it had been checked in at one of our branches at 11:20 this morning. I called the manager there and he said a woman had called him this morning about a book on CD that she'd found in Middletown. He told her just to mail it, but she must have driven to Dayton to return in in person. She didn't leave her name, so I guess I'll just have to "pay it forward" someday.

Warner announcement impact on Blue Ray sales:
THE DIGITAL BITS (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/mytwocentsa149.html#npd)
Okay... so the latest hardware sales data from market research firm NPD Group is in, and it reveals that - as one would expect - HD-DVD player sales have also been impacted by the news of Warner's decision to drop the format later this year. One quick note: The data that follows does NOT include sales of Sony's PlayStation 3 or the HD-DVD add-on drive for Microsoft's Xbox 360. These are stand-alone, set-top players only.
First up, let's look at the month of December (weeks ending 12/8 to 12/29), along with the first two weeks of January (weeks ending 1/5 and 1/12)...
As you can see, Blu-ray Disc players outsold HD-DVD players in the month of December here in the States by about a 60/40 margin, and that split has grown to 70/30 in favor of Blu-ray in the first half of January. This despite the fact that HD-DVD players were (on average) some $200 cheaper than Blu-ray players throughout the holiday shopping season.
But the most striking revelation in the data is the change in the hardware sales ratios between the first and second weeks of January (ending 1/5 and 1/12), reflecting the impact of Warner's announcement (and the mainstream media reaction). The graphs below show player sales for each format both before and after Warner's 1/4 press release...
As you can see, HD-DVD player sales dropped dramatically in the week after Warner's announcement, while Blu-ray Disc player sales nearly doubled over the same period.

Ask BK: if this is unseemly, just ignore and move on, but I'm assuming you receive some kind of revenue from the Google ads at the top. My question is, does the revenue increase based on the number of hits you receive? Merely curious...
I wish I received some sort of revenue from the ads at the top, but I do not. I'm not quite sure I understand the why of it, but it has something to do with the software used to create this board - part of the deal was the ads - I don't know if Bakalor got it free or what, but they've been there from the beginning.

Who knew?
The jokes that I was posting last night were also taken from the Internet...but I don't remember specifically where. I just picked them up (probably from here ;)) and saved them on a "Jokes" Word document.

There will be more of those "back in time" shows. I think you will enjoy the others more than this one.
Since Keith didn't watch the show I usually watched it while using the treadmill. The treadmill broke about the same time the show went off the air.

But the good news is, I finished editing the Safe Kids piece and my dear friend down the hall on-lined it for me, so it looks so much better, better resolution, titles, everything, than what I had done on my laptop. I wrote four pages, which is enough for today until I hear from muse Margaret. I had a yummilicious Chinese Chicken Salad for lunch. I am, thanks to Evil Jose, thinking about donuts. However, it is pouring rain out and my umbrella is in the back seat of my car.
-
Listening to a singer called Rita Reys, who is Dutch. Kind of in the Cleo Laine mold, but not quite as "heavy" a voice. This is a three CD set of songbooks - currently playing is the Bacharach songbook. Also included are Legrand and Gershwin. All three have orchestrations by the wonderful Rogier Van Otterloo, who is also a fine film composer (did several early Paul Verhoeven films, like Turkish Delight).
-
Of course I could put on a baseball cap and run to the car and go get a couple of donuts. Yes, I could.

My sister in NC had this on her notepad--I found it funny:

DR Jane...feel better soon!

I think all of us are now thinking about doughnuts!
-
I thought it never rained in southern California?
[But it pours. Man, it pours]
-
I hope we get the leftovers from California's rain.
-
Speeding through Season 1 of Kyle XY.
-
I decided to go get some donuts. Why is it that when it rains drivers lose their sanity and common sense and behave like they've never been in an automobile before. First of all, it's been raining very hard for two hours - and because whoever designed the streets of the San Fernando Valley was a complete and utter moron, said streets are already flooded. I get to my corner to turn right. There's a car there, clearly intending to turn left at a place where it's almost impossible, especially at this hour. So, I was able to fit to the right of him and as soon as I began turning right this twit decides he'll never be able to turn left and HE begins turning right. What a cretin. And them people on their cells veering between two lanes because they cannot concentrate enough to stay in one lane.
-
Will we never get to page nine?
-
Who else is being errant and truant - who do I need to bitch-slap from here to eternity and hell and back?
-
I shall now watch a motion picture on DVD.
-
I think all of us are now thinking about doughnuts!
I think you're right. :D

Jrand, sent you some email... Sadly not the article you were looking for for NDSU only has back to 1960.

Hello. That is all I have to say

This is Sean Palmer, the prince in the current stage incarnation of The Little Mermaid:
Do you think he gets his eyebrows done?
Why would anybody guy want their brows to look like that?
-
Just got the report from muse Margaret and she really liked the new pages - just three really tiny little fixes. She's loving the characters and again she was very specific about the things she really loved - bits of humor, dialogue, and description, so color me happy and on we go - if it's a similar length to the last book, I've less than 100 pages to go after three weeks of writing.
-
How can we STILL be on page eight?
-
I believe that's les memes choses, DR JRand.
Toujours les memes choses!
;D
Of course, l'amour is more fun.
L'amour! L'amour! Toujours l'amour!

Actually, you're missing an accent circumflexe:
Toujours les mêmes chose.
And as for me being "conversant"... Sadly, my "physical" tonight was not. :-\

I hope we get the leftovers from California's rain.
I think it is headed this way, only by the time it reaches us it will have turned to snow.
-
Well...think of it as showing support for someone who supports the Storm team.

It has been signed.
-
I think all of us are now thinking about doughnuts!
I don't feel like eating any now, the one good thing about how I feel.
Thanks for the good wishes. I just need to be well by Saturday.
-
Bruce, I can't believe you went out to get a donut ;D Did you get one after all that or turn around and head back home?
-
You think I eat all those donuts and cookies all by myself?
Yes.
-
Bruce, I can't believe you went out to get a donut ;D Did you get one after all that or turn around and head back home?
I got two, just to teach everyone a lesson!
-
The fact is, my lunch salad was not filling at all, so I'll probably have to venture out one more time, but not until after 8:00
-
Will we never get to page ten?
-
Some youngster soundtrack people are very upset that Jonny Greenwood's horrid score for There Will Be Blood was deemed ineligible for an Oscar at the last minute. Why? Because it turns out that his "original" score isn't so original and the majority of it was from some piece he wrote for the BBC - add to that all the Arvo Part and Brahms and I don't blame the Academy one bit. Babel was a similar case, but I think they got all that info too late.
-
I guess I shall return to my movie.
-
I think it is headed this way, only by the time it reaches us it will have turned to snow.

I have.

Since Keith didn't watch the show I usually watched it while using the treadmill. The treadmill broke about the same time the show went off the air.
I'll look forward to them because as I said, it did give a different slant to the show, and I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying these episodes. The characters have excellent chemistry with each other, and the unit works so well together, even when they're facing off against each other in court.
-
I watched most of the new show MOMENT OF TRUTH (the one on fox after AMERICAN IDOL).
The idea of it is okay (they ask one person at a time tricky questions and they must tell the truth). They had to answer 50 questions under a lie detector and 21 are chosen for this game. They are allowed to change their answer (from what they gave on the lie detector) as long as it is true.
The next part is a sort of spoiler, so in case anybody is going to watch it.

The questions were tough. ANd the first guy's wife was there. It was only yes or no. So in some respects it's not that easy to answer.
But the thing that bugged me (and turned me off the show) is the question this guy lost on. It was a question that i believe he thought he answered truthfully. But they said he had lied.
Now to me the show should be about things that have answers that people know. I.E., have you had sex with someone else since you've been married. Either you have or you haven't. But i don't think that someone should think they are answering something truthfully and then have the machine tell them they lied.
In this case the guy was a personal trainer. And they asked him if he'd ever touched a woman for longer than required while he was on the job.
Now i don't even think anyone would have cared if he had said he had. Since he had admitted to other not so nice things.
But it left me with a bad taste for the show. I mean i really think the guy would have said yes if he thought he had done it.
The host asked him about the question after, and the guy said that you have to touch the clients and sometimes it is hard to define how much touching is truly required.
-
I watched five episodes of JAG tonight, and I got halfway through a sixth episode.
One of them did borrow quite heavily from WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION (another this afternoon resembled A FEW GOOD MEN), but for the most part, they're really fine, very engaging shows.
And they often have nothing to do with a courtroom trial. In one episode I saw tonight, Harm was trapped in the brig of a ship with water pouring in a chloride gas in the hatch so they were trapped on both sides. Really held my interest, and when he was saved by his admiral, I had tears in my eyes.
-
How are you doing, Kerry??
Jeanne, my sweet, I'm doing well. I had a great walk with Sugar-- longer than normal, But I'm glad to say my ankle was up to it. The ever E and T DR Music Guy sends his regards to all and (hopefully) will rejoin the meerry folks at HHW.
-
The episode I only got partially through was a suspected gay-bashing episode (it wasn't), and opened eyes to some potential gay characters in the JAG Corps. Good for them!
-
LAW & ORDER had a really fascinating case on tonight that concerned the deaths of a white teenage boy and a young black girl who lived in the same neighborhood. Excellent performances, love the new cast, and a really intriguing jury verdict.
-
Oh, Joy, indeed, DR Kerry! And I hope that Sugar gives both of you wet, sloppy kisses, and vice versa.
??? I think you get my drift.
Sugar did give me wet sloppy kisses. She loves to lick the top of my head (both when I had hair and now).
-
So, I am on episode 17 of JAG (there are 25 episodes), but I doubt I finish tomorrow. There will be TV tomorrow night I'll be watching so I'll only have part of the afternoon and early evening to watch JAG tomorrow. Probably won't finish up with it until Friday.
From the looks of the packaging, there is only an outtakes reel as a bonus feature.

- and because whoever designed the streets of the San Fernando Valley was a complete and utter moron, said streets are already flooded.
That "moron" engineer designed streets for a Valley that was mainly dirt - "moron" planning departments allowed greedy developers to pave over vast areas that used to absorb the rainfall; so now the "moron" voters can suffer with the streets-turned-storm sewers. Given the choice of occasional flooded streets as opposed to a multi-billion dollar bond issue to build a new valley drainage system, I think the voters will opt for flooded streets.

The owners of the vacant McGulag next door seemed to have turned off the heat to save a few bucks.
It has been below freezing for many days now.
It has been warm all day today.
The concrete block side of the the house is running streams of water from under the first floor siding..
I looked through the basement patio windows and saw lots of water pooling up from a stream flowing from above.
Gee could a frozen pipe have burst?
Will this affect their $659,000 asking price?

Well, this is a rural area and the development was mainly single and double wide summer-only homes. Ours was one of the first full frame, drywall interior, houses in the neighborhood. We have a mere 1300 square feet, and another 1300 st ft of unfinished walk-out basement.
The McGulag nextdoor (same size 75x200 foot lot) has a main floor with 3 bedrooms a 3.5 baths, an attic "loft" with another bedroom and bath and a walk-out basement with 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen and family room. Everybody said I was nuts to pay $32,500 for a little lot in an almost-trailer park and put up a $125,000 structure (4 years ago).
