Well, you've read the notes, the notes were award-winning, and now it is time for you to post until the Oscar cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IRRUPT!
-
bk: it's too bad you didn't stay around for more than 30 minutes of COMPANY - both the stage and TV direction go further downhill! We did finally get a fairly wide "establishing shot" - during a solo that called for a close up. And I'm sure you would have enjoyed Mr. Price's ear fetish - singers often shot in profile with the ear prominently displayed center screen.

Sadly, I will be at rehearsal today from about 3:30 until 6:30 pm. I'm sure I'll get home by 6:45. However, if the cast goes out to a restaurant next to the theater where we rehearse, I may go with them. They did last night, but I went to my sister's house for a while. We'll see if it actually happens. Otherwise, I WILL be here as soon as possible after I get home. :)
-
"Company" is being recorded as I type. I watched a bit of it. I've never heard Bobby sung better (in performance) than by Dean Jones. Esparza's voice seems forced/pushed. He's a pleasant enough fellow, but what I saw of his Bobby wasn't very energetic. Having never seen the show, perhaps that's the character? An observer who sits around bemused by all and sundry?
-
Everyone is obviously getting their batteries recharged for the Oscar bash. Sleep well, my little pretties!
-
Hey! Let's get this par-tay started! :)
-
***UNIMPEDED TRAVEL VIBES***
for bk tonight!!!
-
Off to church.
Smooches, kids!
-
Good morning, all! I have a long and convoluted day. I could use travel vibes for goddaughter Charlotte's safe and speedy flight to New York as well as vibes that this Fed Ex shipment of 43 cartons happens smoothly tomorrow. It's clearly rattling me as half of my sleep last night was about it.
The other half of my dreams was something bizarre about me, my mother and my father traveling to Europe to repair some construction damage caused by my brothers. Luxembourg, I believe. I recall something about a damaged weather vane, houses haf-buried in dirt, and my mother's getting locked inside a library. And there were soldiers and bombings in it, too. And my dad being really ill. And a concert. And a parade. God knows what past life experiences I was channeling.
Last night I watched one of my Netflix films, AMONGST FRIENDS, a 1993 Long Island gangster wannabe film by the guy behind the series ENTOURAGE. I liked it very much.
-
Thought for a Sunday morning: Haagen Dazs green tea ice cream tastes like it's really good for you, but when you look at the dietary info, it actually is not that good for you. (But it's not AS bad for you as, say, sticky toffee pudding ice cream.)
-
TEST.
I like the idea of doing the spoilers in yellow. It is totally unreadable. So if i remember i think i will try this.
But of course we have to put the spoiler not in yellow with the name of the show! :)
-
Okay so i'm seeing just in yellow does not work. That was good i tested it first. :)
Can someone mention what the second thing we need to do is (since yesterday's posts are locked and i cannot reply to see the code).
hmmm, works on white. Interesting!
-
I'm just catching up on last night's posts.
So the yellow only works if you land on a white (and not blue) post? This could be a problem!
-
Sunday morning greetings! As it's my one-day weekend, Richard excused me from church in Cincinnati today. I really needed a morning with no alarm going off and no rush to get ready to go somewhere. We do have to attend a memorial service this afternoon at our former church here in town.
Travel vibes for DR Elmore's goddaughter!
-
Travel and health vibes to all. I'll probably see DR's Laurra and Sandra at church later today. So far it looks cold and cloudy outside.
Toodles!
-
Oh, and carton-shipping vibes for DR Elmore, too!
-
Good morning!
Oscar day here has started off overcast. It got up to 65 yesterday, but isn't supposed to leave the 50s today. Then back for more spring-type weather the next couple of days.
-
Travel and FED EX vibes for DR ELMORE and company.
-
Page one? What kind of partay is THIS?
-
It is rainy out. I have shaved. I must leave in about twenty-five minutes so I can put gas in my car.
-
I wonder if there will be wi-fi anywhere today?
-
Wow----I was just watching Meet The Press and Ralph Nader announced that he was going to run for president!
This should be very interesting!
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
Oscar nights gone by . . . .
I can remember how excited I used to get on Oscar day. It used to be on Monday, and it was all I could do to concentrate at school in order to do the work because my mind was on who was going to carry home the prize.
The first Oscar broadcast I can ever remember watching all the way through was the night WEST SIDE STORY won so many awards. I wasn't really expecting a musical to win so big, and I just sat there with my jaw hitting the floor.
Of course, it was midnight or later when I'd go to bed with school the next day, so that was ALWAYS a problem. But, I did it from that year onward. The only year I didn't watch the Oscars "live" was the 1988 awards (presented in 1989) where my jaw again hit the floor when Kevin Kline won supporting actor and Geena Davis won supporting actress early on.
My partner and I were attending the national tour of 42nd STREET and got home an hour after the awards had started. I did videotape them so during the commercials, I'd speed through to the winner announcements.
-
I must inform this theater company that there shall be no more Sunday morning at nine meetings for me.
-
I hope they have HEAT.
-
This afternoon I'll finish the bonus features on CHARLIE CHAN AT TREASURE ISLAND and then start DAN IN REAL LIFE on Blu-ray. It's only 94 minutes long, so I should be able to comfortably watch it this afternoon.
-
Those of you who liked that new version of KNIGHT RIDER can be confident in expecting a new series next fall. The TV-movie did very well in the ratings last Sunday, so I'm sure NBC will move ahead with repurposing it to series status for the fall.

I gotta tell you.

And I'm expecting the Blu-ray disc of ENCHANTED this week from Disney. Since I didn't see it at the theater, I'm really looking forward to watching it.
-
Today looks great in Blu-Ray. Very real looking, almost 3-D and the colors really pop, even though it's gray.
-
At least the awards will be in high definition this year. I have to say that finally the networks are starting to broadcast these shows in HD. The Tonys are now the lone holdout in HD broadcasting. Maybe this year will be different.

I am watching CIRCUS WORLD which we saw on the Cinerama Screen, I think....it was BIG.
But I am hoping when it is finally released on DVD officially we will get CC so that I know what the Claudia Cardinale is saying.
-
I have just finished installing a simple little home network so I can use DSL downstairs or upstairs. The remote connection is a tad slow, of course, but it should work fine for Oscar night!

Wow----I was just watching Meet The Press and Ralph Nader announced that he was going to run for president!
This should be very interesting!
Well, that's good news for a partisan Republican, but bad news for our political system. Nadar can only pull votes from the Democrat; the Democrat will be inclined to lean more to left, removing pressure from the Republican to lean to the middle. Most data suggest that the electorate is fairly evenly split, so a third entrant pulling a mere 0.5 % could be decisive.
Nadar pulled 2.7 percent of the national vote as the Green Party candidate in 2000, his percentage dropped to just 0.3 percent as an independent in 2004, when he appeared on the ballot in only 34 states.
And, as we found out in both 2000 and 2004, very few votes in one or two states can swing the election.
Sadly, Nadar offers no fresh insights or innovative proposals; he has no credential for leadership - his presence will only serve to act as a spoiler.

This morning I will begin another Bollywood movie...this time it is the 1975 version of NAGIN...the 1954 version was very subtle in it's fantastical snake story...I suspect this 70s version will be much less subtle! LOL! In fact I understand that it's camp factor is hard to beat.

I did my usual Sunday chores and errands, and now have a few hours free to go through my closet and select my attire for the evening's festivities. Black and white? A Jeanne evening fave. I have a lovely print cummerbund, but mine's silk, not cucumber. Maybe I can even rustle up my white fox stole. Careful decisions, all. I wouldn't want to clash with DR Singdaw. Of course, after seeing Singdaw, no one will even notice me!

Last night I tried some more animal introductions.
I put Bonnie on a leash and took her to the basement. JJ came to greet me, but on seeing Bonnie, she retreated to her chair - but did not flee in panic. I let Bonnie up to the entrance to the pen and JJ gave a little hiss, but stayed in place. I grabbed a can of food, went into the pen and shut the door, leaving Bonnie on the outside. Bonnie stuck her nose through the wire mesh and starting whining to be let in. JJ sat in my lap and purred. I filled the bowl with food. Bonnie left to explore, and JJ got down to eat, but Bonnie returned, and JJ noticed that the bowl was just a few inches from Bonnie's nose, so he retreated back to my lap.
Hardly a budding friendship - but no barking or growling on the canine side, and no back arching and hiss-spitting on the feline side.

I love trying to see as many of the nominated movies as I can before the show. It's really just a game that I started years ago when we used to be bored living at the lake in the winter and it was an excuse to take road trips to see movies. But, it was so much more fun to watch the awards when I had seen the movies that I started doing it every year. I put it off this year until the last minute so I've been watching a lot in a short time to catch up on them.

Wonder if I should shift to kibble?
Does alternating wet with kibble work?
Of course contents & quality of the food are important & without knowing them I can only comment on the difference between wet and dry.
Alternating wet & dry does work, however…..
Cats often don’t get enough liquid on dry food. For now I recommend you stay with a good quality canned food. If you find a new family for him soon they can decide what they want to feed him. If not you can research various foods and decide what you want to do.

Hello, all!
I have a friend dropping by at 2 and then at 4:30 another friend is coming by with her husband, who is a fantastic carpenter. He is going to stay with my DH and they will plan the project they are doing next week, which involves me moving everything from the bookcases---records, books and lots of art and pottery.
She and I will go to another friend's log cabin to dig plants. The family sold this property to split it amoung the heirs, and the log cabin will be destroyed, but she is going to try to trqansplant as many plants as possible to my yard for safekeeping until she finds a place of her own.
So the girls will be digging, and then fixing dinner for the boys.
We should be back around mid-show. We won't be going to the Oscar party we went to last year because the hosts have called it off this year. A first---but they are busy having a baby!
So...no "FLAN'S LABYRINTH".

Our's is the same thing. Right now it's NoCountry for Old Men, Charlie Wilson's War and Enchanted
-
It's very amusing, but there aren't that many people in here and there are tons of empty tables and yet everyone who IS here is sitting in close proximity to MY booth?
-
Will we never get to page six?
-
I have another hour to kill here at Panera.
-
And only five hours to Oscar time! I, of course, know all the winners, thanks to the two gazelles who delivered the information.
-
I have another hour to kill here at Panera.
I was at Panera today, funny, but I didn't see you there ;)
-
Okay, let's get some postin' goin' on.
-
Nine GUESTS, two users. What's wrong with THAT equation?
-
Two users. Bitch-slapping ahead.
-
I will single-handedly take us to page six.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
As The New York Post would say "WHERE'S PAGE SIX?"
-
I'm watching In the Valley of Elah, which so far, is a much better movie than I expected it to be. Of course we're no where near the end.
-
SIX-SIX-SIX-SIX-SEX(oops)
-
Will we evah get to Page 6 ??
-
Let's Give An Oscar To Page 6
-
Cillia- Jane. We need a little help here

Still watching Elah...I hadn't realize that was the valley where David slew Goliath

My cousin who has an autistic son sent me the following email. Please Click Here (http://www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com/videos/view/id/408214) to help. Thank you.
"The band, Five for Fighting, is generously donating $0.49 to Autism Speaks for * each time * this video is viewed. The funding goes toward research studies to help find a cure for autism. When you have a moment, please visit the link below to watch the video and pass it along to your loved ones. This is very moving and a great way to contribute!"
-
Hi ArnoldMBrockman. :) I'm working on your request.
-
I'm here, but not for long. I need to go to rehearsal, a little later.
Also, as part of the refinancing of my mortgage, the bank needs me to supply a "resale certification." What the heck is that?? The condo manager said that it's something that I'm supposed to have in my papers from the original sale of the condo, but I don't see anything in my papers that's called "resale certification." Does anyone have a clew as to what I should be looking for? :-\
-
Lazy, lazy, lazy. We are having a PARTAY, and if I can post on location, others can get off their lazy butt cheeks and do same.
-
DRLaura, I’m very sorry you have to look at a fish shower cover. I guess it is better than the junk behind it.I have multiple reasons not to like Blockbuster, this has never been one of them. Might it have something to do with where you live?
Northeast of the campus in the northendof town....

It seems this the longest road to Page 6

What a Lovely and Handsome Couple
-
Nothing wrong with the picture above - very cute and sweet, although shouldn't the girl be a blonde?
LOL-The girl was blond many years, just for you. :)
-
That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
Thank you DR Arnold. That is one of my favorite photos of us.
-
Will we never get to page seven, let alone page sixty-nine? I wonder if we'll actually make page seventy? That would really be something.
-
Esparza's a pleasant enough fellow, but what I saw of his Bobby wasn't very energetic. Having never seen the show, perhaps that's the character? An observer who sits around bemused by all and sundry?
Well, yes, that is the show. When people criticize Company, they often find fault with Bobby's passivity.
Barbara Walsh comes off much better on TV than she did in the theatre.
-
That's what I'M talkin' about.
;D
-
I'll be wrapping it up here at Panera momentarily. Then it's back to the Chance and what will hopefully run exactly 105 minutes, then it's on the freeway and hopefully no traffic home.
-
I like Barbara Walsh, but it was so Stritch-like without the originality of Stritch.
-
And yes, Bobby is passive, but he doesn't have to be PLAYED passively - when I saw George Chakiris do it, he had very nice energy and was very likeable - when you listen to Dean Jones, he's amazingly non-passive, and he was actually electric in the concert reunion I saw in 1993.
-
Ten GUESTS, ten USERS.

What? You mean that isn't Ashland?
-
Lovely photo Jane of you and Keith!
-
I tried to have an enlarged avatar once, but at my age it's difficult.
-
Why is everyone just sitting there like so much fish?
-
I have some very YOUNG teens next to me speaking in that annoying way of teens.
-
How can we have twelve USERS and fifteen GUESTS and no one but me posting?
-
It is an enigma wrapped inside a conundrum.
-
please send super duper vibes to dr kerry. he became ill after church today. i am posting from my ds's cell phone in the er
-
Someone mentioned watching the movie CIRCUS WORLD. I actually enjoy that movie and I would much rather sit through that film than THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, any time. Horse races.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Apparently everyone is watching Circus World.
-
SUPER DUPER VIBES TO DR KERRY!!! Please keep us posted.
-
Bruce, I hope you are going against the traffic as you head home.

All right, I'm finished at Panera and shall now be on my way back to the theater. Don'f forget your excellent no traffic vibes and xylophones between four and four-forty-five. Keep the home fries burning.
-
I'm hoping that at four on a Sunday traffic won't be too bad. Hopefully most people will be home watching the Oscar festivities.

~~~Super Duper Vibes for DR Kerry!!~~~
-
Welcome eighteen GUESTS.
-
DearReaderLaura DR - Shocked to hear about DR Kerry; thanks for keeping us in the loop.
***HEALTHY VIBES***
to DR Kerry!!!!
-
E! seems to be broadcasting OSCAR all day, even though at times they don't appear to have anything to broadcast.
-
I have some very YOUNG teens next to me speaking in that annoying way of teens.
Are they phrasing?
Everything they say?
As a question, like?
-
Vibes for DR Kerry! Yikes!
-
I was flipping channels and caught on PBS "Being Alive" in Mr Esparza's eye-bugging overwrought performance. It's as bad as his Tony night version.
-
I found Barbara Walsh a very bland and uninspired Joanne. And as I said the other day, she was so off pitch when she began singing "It's the Little Things" that I winced.
-
I began my afternoon with the second bonus feature on CHARLIE CHAN AT TREASURE ISLAND. This was a featurette about Treasure Island itself, the 1939-1940 Exposition held in San Francisco. I never knew there was a World's Fair there simultaneously with the one going on in New York in 1939. Amazing.
-
I then listened to about 20 minutes of the audio commentary on this CHAN feature. No, Dr. Drew Casper was sadly not chosen to do it, and the two gentlemen participating talked basically off the cuff with nothing prepared ahead of time and wasting a lot of time fumbling for things to talk about.
They should take notes from John Fricke.
-
Well, I have to go. I need to take a shower, then try and find this "resale certification" thing, then go to rehearsal. I will be back...eventually. I'm not sure when. I'll start to ketchup as soon as soon as I get back from rehearsal. I haven't seen many of the nominated movies, so I'm not personally invested in any of the outcomes. So, spoil away, especially since we're all seeing it live. There is no tape delay for the west coast. :)
-
Finished the afternoon with DAN IN REAL LIFE. A nice enough, feel-good comedy (lots of talent on board including Norbert Leo Butz, Dane Cook, Juliette Binoche, Emily Blunt, John Mahoney, Dianne Wiest) but boy was it ever predictable. This got very good reviews, but I found it very forumlaic. Enjoyable but fairly standard stuff.
-
There are quite a few bonus features on there which I may or may not get to depending on when I start watching the Oscar coverage on E!
-
Vibes for DR Kerry and to DR Laura for accompanying him to the ER and keeping us posted.
-
How many cucumbers gave their lives for BK's cucumberbund? Are silk worms any more sacred than cucumbers?
I'm not aware that ANY moths gave up lives. I've always been under the impression that the cocoons were collected after the moths emerged.
But I don't worry about the lives of moths bred for silk production any more than der Brucer or S. Woody worry about the lives of the food animals they consumE!
-
DR Ron Pulliam - do you plan to display any of the posters on your walls, or is this not that sort of thing?
Hmmmm...."display"? What a novel idea.
If only I had ENOUGH wall space to hang them all!
At some point, DR singdaw, I plan to work out a "rotation" of said posters so that I can enjoy them all.
-
I'm excited about the Oscars tonight. Quite excited that for the first time i'll get to see the whole Red Carpet. I've never gotten the E broadcast before. Although i'd love to get the Joan Rivers one. But i will have to be happy with Ryan Seacrest.
I'll probably check it out at 6pm when it starts.
-
Health vibes for DR KERRY
-
Well i guess i could watch the pre-pre-show. But i don't think i will!
Vibes to DR Kerry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks DR Laura for letting us know.
-
Okay, let's get some postin' goin' on.
For me, this year's Oscars are totally without interest beyond mild curiousity. I just don't care who wins in any category.
It makes me sad, somehow, but the nominations truly seem to reflect the films Hollywood set aside for "Oscar" at the end of the year rather than any films I might enjoy/be interested in.
To spare you all from this Oscar malaise, I shall absent myself from the annual Oscar bitch-fest for lack of there being any win or loss that might delight/incense me.
-
I was flipping channels and caught on PBS "Being Alive" in Mr Esparza's eye-bugging overwrought performance. It's as bad as his Tony night version.
I was afraid it might have been just me. I don't get why he was cast.
-
Avatar enlarged. Taken in 2001 on a trip to Northern Italy to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary.
Northern Italy...I had forgotten how far north Pisa is.
-
I'm not excited at all about this year's Oscars.
Sure, I'll tune in just to see how everyone is dressed and how John Stewart's hosting is, but, I'm just not interested.
Like DR Matt, I remember being so excited during my school days of being allowed to stay up and watch - my first was the MY FAIR LADY/MARY POPPINS year - and have rarely missed an Oscar show since then. There were times that I was at special parties that watching the show was secondary to everything else going on, and the time that I performed as Boy George at one of those. . .
That said, my predictions:
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
DANIEL DAY-LEWIS
MARION COTILLARD
JAVIER BARDEM
KATE BLANCHETT
-
DR Singdaw. Actually i could totally read your pink writing on white. I think yellow is impossible to read on white.
When i do use color i will use yellow. And if it shows up on blue background i'll just modify that post and copy what i wrote and paste it into a new message!
-
Well, I shall also probably NOT be at the HHW par-tay, since the computer is upstairs, and the Oscars will be viewed downstairs. . .
-
Richard and I met at our former church for a lovely memorial service for our friend Mary Lee. She was actually a contemporary of my mother-in-law - her signature is strong in the guest book from Harriet's service last September. One of Mary Lee's sons graduated from high school with DH Richard and DR Elmore and her daughter was our DS Rob's 4th grade teacher.
-
PLEASANT DRIVE HOME VIBES TO BK!
-
SUPER-DUPER HEALING VIBES TO DR KERRY!
Let's hope he feels quite fit very soon!
-
DR Singdaw. Actually i could totally read your pink writing on white. I think yellow is impossible to read on white.
I will not be reading anyone's "yellow text" writings. I will also not post any text in yellow.
I will, however, continue to post SPOILER alert warnings, as I've been doing, before my regular posts of my reactions/replies to comments on recent episodes of shows that I love and wish to discuss just after they've aired.
I say this now as a courtesy to anyone not wishing to read those posts. STOP at the SPOILER ALERT, and then demand of yourself that you skip past my post without cheating and looking at it anyway if you don't truly want a spoiler. It works everywhere else on the internet and it can work here.
-
I'm not very excited about this year's Oscars, either. I didn't see any of the films nominated for Best Picture, and the other films I saw didn't impress me much.
I do concur with DR TD about MARION COTILLARD for BEST ACTRESS, though.
-
I say this now as a courtesy to anyone not wishing to read those posts. STOP at the SPOILER ALERT and then demand of yourself that you skip past my post without cheating and looking at it anyway if you don't truly want a spoiler. It works everywhere else on the internet and it can work here.
I quite agree!
-
Sing,
I sent you an email so we can be sure we don't clash.
-
How anyone could clash with the sweet Singdaw I don't know.
-
Well, I shall also probably NOT be at the HHW par-tay, since the computer is upstairs, and the Oscars will be viewed downstairs. . .
Sounds like DR td needs a laptop!!! ;)
-
I will not be posting in yellow either.
But I said that yesterday.
-
Sounds like DR td needs a laptop!!! ;)
I'd rather have a lap dance!
-
I'm hoping that at four on a Sunday traffic won't be too bad. Hopefully most people will be home watching the Oscar festivities.
Somehow I doubt it. But I hope the freeways are relatively free, anyway.
-
Heading down now to possibly watch a bonus feature or two on the DAN IN REAL LIFE Blu-ray before starting with the Oscar show.
-
I never post in yellow.
-
I probably won't be posting during the actual Oscars. But i expect to find like 30 pages of posts for me to read tomorrow!
Hope everyone enjoys the show!
-
Oh, DR Jennifer, Joan Rivers hasn't had an Oscar red carpet broadcast in two years. She's not on any channel.
-
And now, I'm heading down.
WBBL.
-
Oh, has any one seen the movie COLMA? It's a musical. My friend Sydney, a movie buff, insisted I watch it. Admittedly, it wasn't to my taste, but I'd like to hear other opinions.
-
I will not be reading anyone's "yellow text" writings. I will also not post any text in yellow.
I will, however, continue to post SURVIVOR alert warnings, as I've been doing, before my regular posts of my reactions/replies to comments on recent episodes of shows that I love and wish to discuss just after they've aired.
I'm just curious why you wouldn't read anyone's spoiler posts in yellow. Anyone who does it is only trying to be considerate. But it will be hard to discuss shows like LOST if nobody is reading the posts. :(
I get if a person doesn't want to post in yellow. But not to read others posts if that show interests you?
-
DR MattH, i thought joan rivers still did something where she commented on the fashions. But i'm not sure about that. I just thought she still did it.
-
How anyone could clash with the sweet Singdaw I don't know.
Oh, it's quite easy if you don't call ahead to color-coordinate.
You'd be surprised...even if you were going to wear something basically grey, DR singdaw will show up with something on that totally doesn't work in tandem.
-
Feeling better, Ron?
Well, that picture he showed us the other day of his outfit was certainly eye-catching!
-
Perhaps I'll dress in white.
Doesn't clash with anyone, and reflects my chaste state. ::)
-
I thought I read that Joan was appearing on TV Guide's channel. Whatever/Wherever that may be.
Mac Knepshield
Who?
I'm still waiting for word from someone concerning Charlotte's flight. I called Ron and got his voicemail, I called Charlotte and got her voicemail. I can't plan anything until I know schedules!
Oscar indifference is rampant. Even
Why are most of E!'s "commentators" so inane?
It seems like they'll put anyone on the tube!
Here are my pics...
Best Pic: No Country for Old Men
Best actor: DAniel Day-Lewis
Best Actress: Julie Christie
Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem
Supporting Actress: Saoirse Ronan
Director: Coen brothers
This snake-woman in the film I am watching has so far killed 3 people and danced in four musical numbers.
How many costume changes has she had so far?
I believe posting a SPOILER warning is quite sufficient as a consideration of other people. Taking extra measures because someone is unable to skip past such a post is not my idea of being considerate. It's kowtowing to someone's lack of self-discipline/inability to be alert to the warnings.
It's quite one thing to post SPOILER warnings about shows that recently aired. Ten weeks from now, I don't believe I should be under any PROHIBITION of any kind to discuss -- without warnings -- the completed season.
And I don't have any interest in finding/using/reading an alternative "invisible" means of writing.
SPOILER has worked perfectly well for years. One person's inability to heed that without reading the post calls for extra precautions on that person's part, not mine/ours.
-
Good Afternoon!
Well... I got an unexpected call from my friend, Jack, a couple of hours ago. We worked together about five years ago, and besides a couple of e-mails since then, we haven't really talked to each other or seen each other... He's in town for some business, and, luckily, he remembered that I keep my phone number in my e-mail signature, so, he gave me a call... And about 30 minutes later we met up at Dinosaur BBQ for a very hearty late lunch. And since it was not that busy today, we were able to linger a bit and catch up on things. All in all, a very nice way to spend part of this afternoon. :)
He had to head back to his hotel to prepare for his presentation tomorrow, so he won't be joining in the Oscar Bash Festivities. ;)
-
Feeling better, Ron?
I'm not without "fight"! 8)
~~~~~VIBES~FOR~DR KERRY~~~~~~~

DR Elmore - check your email! Why are you yelling at me ;)?
-
I'm not without "fight"!
Well I, for one, am relieved. :)
-
Do you have the flight number? The flight status information is generally readily available online.
Just spoke to Ron. Charlotte's on schedule. I guess I should have asked for cell phone vibes as well!
-
This snake-woman in the film I am watching has so far killed 3 people and danced in four musical numbers.
I knew someone like that once.
This past week I had to deal with someone like that--well, not so much snakey, as just OBNOXIOUS.
-
my nephew is saddened today, a freind of his has passed away after battling AIDS for years. He was only 16. He acquired it from a transfusion.
-
My thoughts on the Bobby character in Company: I think he has to be adorably charming (but not smarmy) in order for his aloofness to be so frustrating to the women in his life.
And, in that Doyle production, what were those 3 girlfriends doing in all the couple scenes, anyway?
-
I'm not without "fight"! 8)
Glad to hear it. What would our Ron be without his feistiness?
-
He'd be feistless.
Not a pretty sight.
-
DR Jennifer - As for the whole SPOILER warning "crap" - pardon my non-French...
I'm with DR Ron Pulliam - There's really no reason for any of us to be that careful when it comes to posting spoilers. -Especially since the request would entail having no "open" discussions about lost until sometime later this year. HHW is not the only site where spoilers could get posted/discovered/read accidentally.
And, frankly, if DR Michael Shayne had stayed around yesterday to respond to the responses to his "request", well, I might - and that's a very small "might" - have considered his request. I understand that we all have varying schedules which may affect how often we check in and post here on HHW and elsewhere, but just to drop by, post an ultimatum of sorts, and then leave, well...
And, again, as many of us have already stated... It's just a TV program. And, in fact, I find it foolish that we even have to discuss this. There is nothing wrong with waiting for the DVDs to view the program, but there's also certainly nothing wrong with watching the show when it originally gets broadcast.
Heck, we might as well ask for spoiler warnings on Election Night since some of us work evenings. NOT!
-
And, in that Doyle production, what were those 3 girlfriends doing in all the couple scenes, anyway?
Playing obbligato? ;)
-
I have no information except that I just called Charlotte's phone and a young man answered and said that the phone had been lost. This concerns me for two reasons:
1. I can't reach her parents
2. where is Charlotte?
This is most frustrating and I am a bit alarmed at the moment
DR Elmore - there will probably be good explanations for these anomalies. Hope you hear something confirming soon.
-

I redid my post you quoted. She's hopefully on schedule.

He'd be feistless.

-
I am getting hungry. Indeed, I AM hungry. I shall take a break for an early dinner--early for me, anyway--then be back for the festivities.
-
Glad to hear it. What would our Ron be without his feistiness?
Snark-less, that's for sure.
-
If we only knew which airline Charlotte is flying on, we could probably determine her flight number.

Do you want me to delete my post with the quote in it?
Glad you've spoken to Ron.

I feel this issue of Spoilers, since I'm often on the firing line, has been drummed to death. TV programs are like fish and guests: after three days it ain't new. And if you're still in the dark, tough.
-
Do you want me to delete my post with the quote in it?
Glad you've spoken to Ron.
I don't see any reason to. It's a phantom post.
-
TY, Sing.
-
Sorry about your nephew's friend, DR DakotaCelt. How awful.
-
my nephew is saddened today, a freind of his has passed away after battling AIDS for years. He was only 16. He acquired it from a transfusion.
Sorry to read about this.
How he acquired the disease is truly a non-issue, IMO. It's like saying he didn't "deserve it" (as if anyone does)....at least, that's they way it comes off to me...AND I KNOW you didn't mean it that way. But in many cases, that's exactly what folks mean.
-
I watched a few more sections of the Company broadcast... As bk and others have stated, just way tooooooo many close-ups. Yes, they did adjust some lighting and a few minor blocking issues for the tapings, but none of the actors were instructed to play to the cameras. They were still playing to the full house, the audience in the theatre. Totally different "feel", and to see all those close-ups, well, even I was getting a bit turned off - and I really like the production. -The whole karate scene would have benefitted from a full stage shot so that you could see how the actors played off of each other even with all the distance between them. And Raul definitely was not acting and singing for a close-up either.
-
Ben Lyons, an E! commentator, is kind of cute. Apparently he's film critic Jeffrey Lyons's son.
-
Comfort vibes to DR Dakota's nephew and to the family of his friend.
-

You go, Elmo!

And speaking of Mr Doyle and his dreadful COMPANY, his MAHAGONNY proved he didn't know how to direct that great piece, so of course Peter whatshisface would hire him for the Met. I was invited to tomorrow's dress rehearsal of Mr Doyle's production of PETER GRIMES and I had to turn it down because of 43 cartons sitting here.
-
ON the spoilers issue, for me it is a non issue since I dont watch tv due to working at night and not having cable...
-
Okay, chums...it's off to other things now. If I truly don't renege on my vow to stay out of harm's way during the Oscars, be kind.
-
It's a phantom post.
The Phantom of the Post-era?
-
And speaking of Mr Doyle and his dreadful COMPANY, his MAHAGONNY proved he didn't know how to direct that great piece, so of course Peter whatshisface would hire him for the Met. I was invited to tomorrow's dress rehearsal of Mr Doyle's production of PETER GRIMES and I had to turn it down because of 43 cartons sitting here.
OH! Can I go in your place? ;)
-
Ciao, Ron!
-
Sorry to read about this.
How he acquired the disease is truly a non-issue, IMO. It's like saying he didn't "deserve it" (as if anyone does)....at least, that's they way it comes off to me...AND I KNOW you didn't mean it that way. But in many cases, that's exactly what folks mean.
I believe two things (well, I really believe many things):
1. parents shouldn't have to bury their children
2. 16 is way too young to die
I'm sorry, DR Dakota, for your nephew.
-
DR DakotaCelt - ~~~Vibes of Comfort to your nephew and his friend's family and loved ones~~~
-
OH! Can I go in your place? ;)
As Miss O sings in PROMENADE, the moment has passed.
I'm sorry, DR Jose.
-
Sorry to read about this.

I had met his friend Tyler once and he was a character. :) He was not shy about sharing how got the disease. He was on a mission to teach. He was thankful for the freinds and life he had. He was also a merry prankster....
One person barred him once due to his illness and he fought back not meanly but to educate.
-
Of course, to be fair ro Mr Doyle about MAHAGONNY, the conductor didn't know the opera either, or he wouldn't have asked Lupone to sing Begbick.
-
...
I've got all 42 labels now inside the plastic pouches....
42 labels? Aren't there 43 cartons?
-
Shipping vibes for Elmore!!
-
DR elmore - Good to know that Charlotte is on her way - with or without her cell phone.
-
42 labels? Aren't there 43 cartons?
Jayme's holding onto one of them for good luck.
-
I'm not sure I understand the appeal of Ryan Seacrest...
-
Oscar indifference is rampant. Even
George Clooney's Parents (http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/ab/20080224/ENT/302240002)
won't be in attendance.
Then I guess we can count his Aunt Rosie out from attending, as well.
-
I am not a fan either...
I am trying to finish up so I can join the festivities <G>
-
I thought I read that Joan was appearing on TV Guide's channel. Whatever/Wherever that may be.
Several years ago, Joan left E! for the TV GUIDE channel, but she was replaced there by Lisa Rinna last year. I'm not sure if anyone is doing it this year, but if so, it ISN'T Joan Rivers. She's been on talk shows complaining about not having a gig this year.
-
But I don't watch AI, so I'm clewless.
-
Last night, Richard and I watched the first 2 episodes of Dexter. Pretty gruesome.
-
I feel this issue of Spoilers, since I'm often on the firing line, has been drummed to death. TV programs are like fish and guests: after three days it ain't new. And if you're still in the dark, tough.
I am grateful for all this Spoiler discussion, because without it, we would probably still be on Page 2.
-
I don't know about the AWARDS, but I have a feeling the RATINGS are going to be very low this year.
-
42 labels? Aren't there 43 cartons?
Yes, but 42 are the same carton so there are sets of 21 and 21 labels for them. No. 43is already set t0 go.
I just spoke to Charlotte, who is now off to THE FANTASTICKS (last performance) with her ma and pa.
-
I'm not sure I understand the appeal of Ryan Seacrest...
Amen! He must be having sex with the right person. Or persons. What do I know.
-
I don't know about the AWARDS, but I have a feeling the RATINGS are going to be very low this year.
If they want to incease the ratings next year, they need to talk Billy Crystal into hosting again, no matter how much they have to pay him. I have nothing against Jon Stewart, in fact I enjoy him; but he is not a good choice to host the Oscars. IMHO.
-
Glad to hear that you don't have to go traipsing about Manhattan with the luggage, DR elmore3003!
-
Yes, but 42 are the same carton so there are sets of 21 and 21 labes for them. No. 43is already set t0 go.
Oh, um, OK.
I just spoke to Charlotte, who is now off to THE FANTASTICKS (last performance) with her ma and pa.
See, I told you it would all work out. Did you get her luggage?
-
...... and since both Johnny Carson and Bob Hope are no longer available - get Billy Crystal.
-
I think they go to Billy first every year.
-
Glad to hear that you don't have to go traipsing about Manhattan with the luggage, DR elmore3003!
Well, I was happy to do it, but now that I'm off the hook, I'm putting on my pajamas to watch tv. I wll rise early and tote cartons into the hallway. 21 cartons have been labeled and I'll finish the others tomorrow.
-
If I were in The Fantasticks, I would not want to know that Ron Raines was in the audience!
-
It's his choice not to do it.
-
There's Kristin Chenoweth.
-
And since when has anyone's opinion about the Oscars, or even the nomiated films, had anything to do with Oscar Night at HHW? I just thought we used those broadcasts as a starting point for our annual foolishness.
-
Thoughts to DR DAKOTA CELT's nephew....
And many vibes for DR KERRY!
-
DRMBARNUM that's some fight!!! My money is on the snake lady....is this the movie you are watching?
-
Am I wrong or is the show starting later this year than in the last couple of years. Seems like it started at 7:30 last year.
-
I am sort of watching METEOR but will switch over to some OSCAR coverage in a bit. I will NOT watch Ms Barbara Walters.
-
our annual foolishness
As opposed to the way we behave the rest of the year.
-
I got most of the bonus features watched on DAN IN REAL LIFE. The outtakes, deleted scenes, and two "behind the scenes" documentaries. None all that special.
All but the outtakes were in 1080p HD.
-
Hmmmmmmmm all of my bookmarks and history disappeared.
I am thinking of getting a new DVD - haven't upgraded since getting my LED HDTV....will my regular DVD's play on a BLu Ray DVD?
-
I am sort of watching METEOR but will switch over to some OSCAR coverage in a bit. I will NOT watch Ms Barbara Walters.
Lord no! I haven't watched Barbara in decades.
-
Well, I have a brief(!) rehearsal to attend to, but I should be back by showtime.
Laters...
-
Off to watch some more Dexter. Back for more of the partay later.
-
Hmmmmmmmm all of my bookmarks and history disappeared.
I am thinking of getting a new DVD - haven't upgraded since getting my LED HDTV....will my regular DVD's play on a BLu Ray DVD?
Sure. All Blu-ray players are backwards compatible with standard definition DVD and they will also upconvert using an HDMI connection.
-
Sure. All Blu-ray players are backwards compatible using an HDMI connection.
Hmmm...is that that red yellow blue connection I am using with my regular DVD player?
-
Hmmm...is that that red yellow blue connection I am using with my regular DVD player?
Blu-ray players have component connections (red-blue-green) and you can get 1080i quality with Blu-ray discs and 480p quality with standard DVDs.
The HDMI connection (one cable for picture and sound) gives you 1080p pictures for Blu-ray and can upconvert up to 1080p with standard DVDs.
-
As the OScars are not shown here on TV for another tEn hours or so, would you all please post spoilers and/or use yellow or pink when discussing the awards.
THAT'S A JOKE ok
-
TV GUIDE CHANNEL -
Jason Bateman looks very nice. Traditional tuxedo with bow tie.
-
Hmmmm.....but I need my sound to go to my home theatre system.
-
kerry is ok . we are waiting for the paperwork to go home.
-
OMG did Kristen Chenowith get a - um - boob job?
-
Well, I have a brief(!) rehearsal to attend to, but I should be back by showtime.
Laters...
DR Jose, I can't give you the ticket to the PETER GRIMES dress, but I can ask you to accompany me to a preview of MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY on March 5 at 6 pm!
-
Hmmmm.....but I need my sound to go to my home theatre system.
THat's OK. You use the regular audio connections to the receiver if you don't have HDMI.
-
OMG did Kristen Chenowith get a - um - boob job?
She's always been well endowed.
-
Diablo Cody stripped the leopard cover off the fainting couch to make her dress! And what a tattoo!
-
Jason always looks nice!
-
TV GUIDE CHANNEL -
Jason Bateman looks very nice. Traditional tuxedo with bow tie.
I bet he would look better without the tuxedo and bow tie! ::)
-
Anne Hathaway looks very elegant.
-
Saw IN THE HEIGHTS this afternoon. The show admittedly has several of those moments where people behave in ways that are not comprehensible as human behavior, some of which are necessary for the plot - but wow, what a potent emotional and dramatic punch this show has.
-
Guess I never saw her with a STRAPLESS gown on.
Hmmm....so if I want to use an HDMI connection I can't use my home theater system?
-
Thanks so much for the update and for staying with DR Kerry, DR Laura!
-
Anne Hathaway in RED RED RED
-
Glad to hear Kerry is okay Laura!
-
DR LAURA - I hope it was just a coincidence that DR KERRY got sick after I sent him ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN on DVD.
-
DR JoseSPiano - always good to rehearse those BRIEFS.
-
Diablo Cody stripped the leopard cover off the fainting couch to make her dress! And what a tattoo!
Isn't she a former stripper?
-
Guess I never saw her with a STRAPLESS gown on.
Hmmm....so if I want to use an HDMI connection I can't use my home theater system?
I didn't say that at all, DR JRand. You can use the HDMI for picture and the other audio connections for sound. There are several ways to get sound out of ANY DVD player and Blu-ray is no different.
-
Thanks for the theatre report, as always, DR FJL! :)
-
I think Joan is doing arrivals online at AOL, but I am not sure.
-
Isn't she a former stripper?
Yes.
-
Isn't she a former stripper?
Yes Mr Joey Fatone mentioned that a few times on TVG CHannel
-
I'm watching E! instead of the TVG Channel.
-
kerry is ok . we are waiting for the paperwork to go home.
Thank goodness.
-
Isn't she a former stripper?
I would have no idea. :)
-
Okay...I thought when you said one connection for picture and sound, I had to use that for both.....but I would still need the HDMI cable.
-
Lots of commercials on TVG.
I don't think I can watch Ryan Seacrest.
-
John Travolta walks by...............
-
John Ravolta is not a favorite.
-
Okay...I thought when you said one connection for picture and sound, I had to use that for both.....but I would still need the HDMI cable.
Nope, but you get BY FAR the best picture with it.
-
Patrick Dempsey looking great!!!
Seems like prints are big on the ladies this year. I am liking the traditional tuxedo look the men are doing.
-
Dwayne THE ROCK Johnson is there!
-
Lots of commercials on TVG.
I don't think I can watch Ryan Seacrest.
He asks good questions. He is a fine interviewer. Yes, he does often turn comments back to himself, but I think that's just nerves.
-
Do you think these TV commentators actually know all of this stuff, and all of these people, or do you think they have prompters in their ears, telling them what to say?
-
Nope, but you get BY FAR the best picture with it.
Thanks DR MATTH - I now have ALL the information for my shopping trip tomorrow! ;D
-
Come on folks, let's get cracking....
How about a good game of Vegetable Oscars?
For instance:
Celery B DeMille's THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
OR
[/b]
HUSH HUSH SWEET SHALLOT
-
Do you think these TV commentators actually know all of this stuff, and all of these people, or do you think they have prompters in their ears, telling them what to say?
For Ryan, a mixture, I'd say. He has an earpiece, but he's very connected in the industry.
-
John Revolta?
-
Switched to E!
Wow George Clooney and his gal both look great.....they just called his date a cocktail waitress.
-
Steve Carrell nice....his wife....kind of boring white dress
-
John Revolta?
Sorry, but I can't stand him now.
-
Patrick Dempsey looking great!!!
Seems like prints are big on the ladies this year. I am liking the traditional tuxedo look the men are doing.
Or the material formerly known as prints.
-
LOL funny questions from Ryan.
Who is the buy with BLUE hair?
-
DR TCB I can't think of anything!!!
Here comes Patrick Dempsey.
-
Patrick Dempsey, nice.
-
FUnny business with the doll

Not a Kelly Preston fan either.
-
FUnny business with the doll
LOL....yes.
Wow John's haircut is tragic....and his wife is wearing ORANGE.....
-
Laura Linney is looking gorgeously "classic."
-
Wow the Rock is tall....and/or Ryan is short.
-
DRMBARNUM that's some fight!!! My money is on the snake lady....is this the movie you are watching?
Yes, and the movie just ended....wow.
-
I would be glad to be Dwayne Johnson's date.
-
Hmmm...is that that red yellow blue connection I am using with my regular DVD player?
JRand, you should have tossed that outdated cord when you bought your new TV...go and get an HDMI cord stat! It will make a big difference on how you movies and tv shows look!
-
Necktie on James McAvoy....pretty blue dress on his gal.
-
JRand, you should have tossed that outdated cord when you bought your new TV...go and get an HDMI cord stat! It will make a big difference on who you movies look!
In the works.
-
Wow the Rock is tall....and/or Ryan is short.
I'd say both are true.
-
I don't like Jessica Alba's dress.
-
I would be glad to be Dwayne Johnson's date.
Stand in line. ;D
-
But don't pay over $15 for an HDMI cable. You can get ones on-line for not a lot of money.
-
There's our gal Amy Adams...such a sweetheart!
-
Can't wait to see Amy Adams in ENCHANTED.
-
Wow Daniel Day-Lewis with hoop earrings....and a woman wearing a really UGLY dress.
-
Nice hoops on Daniel Day-Lewis!
-
But don't pay over $15 for an HDMI cable. You can get ones on-line for not a lot of money.
Okay. ;D
-
Amy Adams looks nice, yes.
-
Ruby Dee looks very stylish.
-
Ruby Dee chose a nice color, but I am not sure about the fit.
-
Tight in the back? backside?
-
Gary Busey is drunk!
-
Kerri Russell is cute but not a great color for her.
-
Keri Russell's dress fits funny in the front.
-
Wow...DR SINGDAW yes - Jessica Alba has purple feathers on her lady lights.
-
Gary Busey is drunk!
Missed him..... :P
-
P Diddy looks nice.....one of the few cummerbunds I have seen
-
Some awfully cute young gentlemen are hanging about on the outskirts!
-
Talking to Miley while Helen Mirrin breezes by.
-
Sorry, but I can't stand him now.
Does anyone like that fat old queen Scientologist?
-
NO!
-
Javier in a necktie, I think he washed his hair.
-
Does anyone like that fat old queen Scientologist?
Only the people on the payroll.
-
Some awfully cute young gentlemen are hanging about on the outskirts!
Well, you never know if David Geffen is looking for a group scene.
-
Long shot of Gary B.
-
Or Barry Diller.
-
Javier in a necktie, I think he washed his hair.
A first!
But I do look forward in watching his film this coming week.
-
Is anybody watching Barbara?
-
Some awfully cute young gentlemen are hanging about on the outskirts!
Do you see the ghost of Raymond Burr and his sailor? :D
-
Oh, DR Jennifer, Joan Rivers hasn't had an Oscar red carpet broadcast in two years. She's not on any channel.
Personally I think that is a good thing-though I had no idea. ;D
-
Beautiful dress on Dame Helen
-
Not loving Cameron Diaz's dress.
-
Oscar indifference is rampant. Even
George Clooney's Parents (http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/ab/20080224/ENT/302240002)
won't be in attendance.
For good reason.

Marion is a real beauty.
-
Nice white dress on Marion C.....Piaf
-
Good God Tilda, open the damned makeup box now and then!
-
Tilda Swinton looks rather pale and wan.
-
Colin Farrell - take a bath.
-
Is that Collin Farrell's mother?
-
Couldn't tell......
-
I am grateful for all this Spoiler discussion, because without it, we would probably still be on Page 2.
;D
-
Do you all remember the neighbor below me whose health I was concerned about? She had her "procedure" on Wednesday, has lost 20 lbs and looks fantastic and happy. She just brought me a box of cookies and we talked about my concerns about her. Not cancer, thank God, and she says all is well.
-
Lord no! I haven't watched Barbara in decades.
The last time I watched Barbara was when she asked Katharine Hepburn what kind of a tree she would be.
-
Glad to hear that you don't have to go traipsing about Manhattan with the luggage, DR elmore3003!
Me too! Most of all I'm glad you know your DR GD has arrived safely. :)

20 pounds! I'm glad whatever it was was removed and she will be ok. Thanks for letting us know. :)
-
Harrison Ford looking every one of his years. I can't imagine how that's going to work with the new INDY JONES movies.
-
I thought the red carpet show didn't begin until 5:00, my time. What are you watching?

It is a fun movie with excellent acting and the music is wonderful

Back in the nick of time. I'll be back at the commercial and catch up with the eight pages I've missed. And they're off!
-
And tonight after the show all of your friends will join you for a party at Hollywood's own Roosevelt Hotel......
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Back in the nick of time. I'll be back at the commercial and catch up with the eight pages I've missed. And they're off!

And what are you watching right now, or were watching until 5:00?
-
John Travolta has a very strange speaking voice.
-
Ravolta interviewed for no reason. He's not nominated.

I would like for Laura Linney to win one night.
-
Oh Laura....I think that blush color is wrong for you

-
Hate to admit it, but Ryan is more tolerable than Regis.
-
The show looks great in HD.
No way to cover the lines and scars, girls. ;D
-
Commercials.
-
Hate to admit it, but Ryan is more tolerable than Regis.

-
But Ryan is kind of like the butler that serves the dinner then sits down to eat with you.
-
Who's Ryan? Meg? Can't even look at her anymore.
-
I'll go watch some pre-show now.
-
Hate to admit it, but Ryan is more tolerable than Regis.

Ryan Seacrest on E! MR BK.
-
Have just discovered I will not be finishing that little project - the server I was working on just went -- oh joy!
-
You guys are right...Helen Mirren looks fantastic.
-
Helen is right. They have to scrape to come up with five quality ominees for women each year. Very sad and unfair.
-
Ugly dress on Daniel's wife.
-
JHC - that is one UGLY dress.
-
Dakota, enjoy the break from your project. ;D
-
Cameron sad sad sad.
-
Just googled the oscars and looked at pics of some of the dresses.... EEK on a couple of them....
-
Why interview people who aren't nominees like Cameron?
-
I have some other little things to do but they are not as intensive as the other one....
-
Can you believe these people they're dragging on camera?
-
Matt, I have often wondered that also. I want to hear from the nominees
-
I thought that was Barbara Walters in yellow sweatshirt for a minute.
-
My goodness, what was that K-Mart curtain that Miss Diaz was wearing?
-
My goodness, what was that K-Mart curtain that Miss Diaz was wearing?
Think Pink! :P
-
Poster child for how to look and behave at the Oscars? Miss Amy Adams. Simple, beautiful, hair nicely done, and a simple, but elegant dress. A+.
-
Commercials.
-
How does them things stay in them dresses?
-
Let's get to the awards!
-
I flew home and only ran into traffic once - through downtown for three of the most totally unnecessary minutes ever - as soon as those three minutes of bumper to bumper traffic passed, all those cars apparently disappeared because there was no more traffic all the way home.
-
Miss Diaz is classier than that...she shopped for her shower curtain at Target.
-
Poster child for how to look and behave at the Oscars? Miss Amy Adams. Simple, beautiful, hair nicely done, and a simple, but elegant dress. A+.
Yep, she's fresh-faced and gorgeous. Tremendously appealing.
-
Will we never get to page nineteen?
-
Nine minutes.
-
Poster child for how to look and behave at the Oscars? Miss Amy Adams. Simple, beautiful, hair nicely done, and a simple, but elegant dress. A+.

Poster child for how to look and behave at the Oscars? Miss Amy Adams. Simple, beautiful, hair nicely done, and a simple, but elegant dress. A+.
You would think she had been a costumer!
-
Why AREN'T you there, you big wazoo.
-
Hillary Swank has a very large mouth.
Which is why she was so good as Anthony in SWEENEY TODD. ;)
-
Viggo is mine while he's here in the burgh filming THE ROAD.
I notice that you didn't claim Little Viggo.
-
Hello, I came on just in time
-
Regis Philban should be put out to pasture.
I liked him years ago but I am not as much a fan of him as I used to be
-
Okay, time to settle down for the show.
-
Johnny Depp looks nervous!!!
-
Commercials.
-
How about some more commercials - thats why the Oscars are soooo long.
-
Here we goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
-
Nicholson is front and center, I always enjoy his reactions.
-
Regus is fine on his own show, but not good in these more pressured situations.
-
Hope the host doesn't go political.......
-
I wish I was there - Just to be in that theater :)
Me too!
-
Good Evening!
I'm ba-ack.... And here we go (again)!!!!

I will be looking forward to having Viggo back with me when the filming is over.
Thanks.

-
I notice that you didn't claim Little Viggo.
You can't have one without the other. . .
-
Of course, I know all the winners, thanks to the two gazelles.
Be sure to post spoilers.
-
Welcome Jose!
-
Why would Johnny Depp look nervous, he should be used to not winning, its silly.
-
Here we go!
-
I'm just wondering how many, if any WGA Strike jokes will be made tonight.
-
I agree Adrianna
-
Went by too fast to see everything.
-
....and I'm back just in time for the opening montage!
-
So pleased to hear the good news about DR KERRY.
-
Interesting opening.
-
And to think, on that very same stage, Val Kilmer WAS Moses!
;D
-
Regis Philban should be put out to pasture.
He can't be -- He owns the pasture.
-
Good news about DR Kerry!
-
He can't be -- He owns the pasture.
LOL!!
-
And what if The Ten Commandments: The Spectacle Musical had turned out to be a hit... The Oscars could have been taking place on the banks of the Nile River and/or in the middle of the Red Sea! ;)
-
YES!! Wonderful news about Kerry! :)
-
Love Julie Christie.
-
And to think, on that very same stage, Val Kilmer WAS Moses!
;D
I thought that the theatre!!
Opening monolog pretty flat to me. :P
-
Cody also now on the staff of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.
-
Interesting article: 25 oscar snubs of all time
http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20007870_20164474_20179544,00.html (http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20007870_20164474_20179544,00.html)
-
Well, I liked that joke about an African-American or Woman President. ;)
-
OK monologue. Nothing special.
-
Thanks for all the good thoughts; it was nice knowing you were all on my side. I hadn't not slept well or eaten much for a couple of a days and I guess ended up having a small seisure after church. Luckily I was not driving and had people to help, but I did manage to fall into a bunch of cactus. Luckily, X-rays and Cat scan came back normal.
My body is very sore. DR Laura is buying me some food right now. She and and her family were right there for me through it all. I gotta tell ya!
Has Cary Grant won yet?
-
I guess ATONEMENT for Best Costumes.
-
Good news DR KERRY.
-
Well, I liked that joke about an African-American or Woman President. ;)
That one brought out Richard's HA HA HA HA laugh, from clear up in the kitchen!
-
{{{{{{{{KERRY}}}}}}}}}
-
What was the point of that opening monolog? That had about two funny jokes and a lot of crap.....get to the awards, folks.
Smug...
-
Ah, well, a different period puicture Won. Predictable,
-
Good news indeed DR Kerry.
How are the cactus plants?
-
Oscar time machine
-
I remember that tie that night. I was stunned!
-
First award of the evening actually went to a movie we've seen.
-
(((Kerry)))
-
Cute Diet Coke commercial!
-
Phone call.....damn
-
I guess Stewart was okay - I'm not a fan.
-
So far the gazelles are one for one.
-
I guess I won't be eating anything until about ten - if they're going to do these best of Oscar moments.
-
Do we think Miss Garner PAID someone to do that to her hair? Veronica Lake she's not.
-
Glad you are OK DR Kerry. And that DR Laura and family are there to look after you.
-
Glad to see you here, DR Kerry. You gave us quite a scare today.
-
Back to the show.
-
I hope all the acceptance speeches tonight are that short and succint. :)
-
::: hands bk a cherry ripe :::::
I kept them handy since I know you like them
-
DR Jose, I can't give you the ticket to the PETER GRIMES dress, but I can ask you to accompany me to a preview of MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY on March 5 at 6 pm!
Aw, thanks. Alas, I am flying off to Chattanooga that day, so... :(
-
I hope all the acceptance speeches tonight are that short and succint. :)
I hope so too!
-
DR Kerry, quickly feel better vibes. Now that I know you are home and resting, and about to eat, I can sign off for the night.
I won't be catching up tomorrow, I will begin with the new day.
'night
-
Hmm... Is anyone else getting "server stopped responding" messages?
-
Good news indeed DR Kerry.
How are the cactus plants?
They're missing a few needles!
-
Harrison Ford looking every one of his years. I can't imagine how that's going to work with the new INDY JONES movies.
As was stated in an earlier post: Technology.
;)
-
So many of those moments I remember happening live!
-
no jose, no trouble on this end...
-
Hmmm.. I do wonder if "Persepolis" could spoil in the category?
-
Guess not. ;)
-
Yah! I loved RATATOUILLE!
-
Hmmm.. I do wonder if "Persepolis" could spoil in the category?
I was wondering the same last night...
-
How does them things stay in them dresses?
Technology.
-
Loved Ann Hathaway's red dress.
I don't get Steve Carrell.
-
I did see Ratatouille... fun movie
-
If anyone should have written down some names... ;)
-
I don't get Steve Carrell.
I find him perplexing also
-
Oooooh, another stunning red dress!
-
I don't get Steve Carrell.
I get him. ;) Alas, bad writing, bad joke for him to pull off. -And I think he knew it too.
-
Looks like a well dseerved win for make-up.
-
We only saw 7 nominated movies this year, and the first 3 awards went to titles from our list.
-
Just how much time are they getting tonight for the speeches, anyhoo?
-
YEAH!!! Amy Adams!!!!!!
:)
-
Steve Carrell can be VERY funny, but not in everything.
-
Did they have to use the ear-piece mic?!?!?!?!?
-
WOW! Just her on stage. Alone. No fake animals.
COOL!!!!!!!!!
-
Hmm.... Maybe a little video montage would have been nice... ???
-
Amy was delightful.
-
Why were those big rings turning during her number.
-
The gazelles are at 100%
-
Very intimidating to be in front of that audience and a billion others around the world.
-
Nice job from Amy Adams. I can't imagine the pressure!
They could have helped her with a more imaginative presentation.
-
Why were those big rings turning during her number.
Technology.
-
I like Steve Carrel - When does he get to host?
-
Obviously, they're giving each of the three ENCHANTED nominees a separate presentation instead of a medley like they did with the DREAMGIRLS tunes last year. Good idea.
-
But why did they have that Lord Of The Rings thing going on during her number? She needed that?
-
She is a beautiful actress.... I am glad she was able to sing...
-
And what has Stephen Schwartz got on his head?
-
I'm surprised they just didn't use some of the animal characters from the film around her - easy to do these days.
-
Only sixty more pages to go :)
-
And what has Stephen Schwartz got on his head?
He must have left his "summer" one here in NYC. ;)
-
Back to the show - why haven't they given a major award yet?
-
Wonder if all the musical numbers will be as non-creative?
-
Back to the show - why haven't they given a major award yet?
Rumor was that they were going to follow the ballot order - in reverse - more or less. What's on the other networks tonight?
-
They want to hold us in suspense or they are still counting the ballots <G>
-
That's an upset. I didn't read a single prediction that thought THE GOLDEN COMPASS was going to win.
-
Does any know if there is a cd of the Enchanted soundtrack?
-
Wonder if all the musical numbers will be as non-creative?
Well, "That's How You Know" will be the big production number - they already showed the costumed cast backstage during the last minutes of the pre-show.
-
If SWEENEY is going to win anything, it will be here.
-
Does any know if there is a cd of the Enchanted soundtrack?
Umm... Yes. :)
-
Speaking of "technology," The Rock's tux deserves a special award!
-
LOL!!!!!!!!
Is that a real voice making that "noise" for the "Sweeney Todd" underscore?!?!?!
-
TALK FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hooray!
-
I'm glad Sweeney got at least one.
-
Cuba has made one bomb after another.
-
Still waiting to see it in Fargo.... I think I will wait to get the DVD....
I will look for the soundtrack for Enchanted
-
I say Tom Wilkinson....
-
No surprise there!
-
OH! DUH! Javier Bardem.... Or as Regis called him "Xavier Bardem" ;)
-
I wonder if Holbrook will ever get another shot at it.
-
Typical Regis blunder. That's just one reason why he should NEVER be used in these kinds of pressure situations.
-
I wonder if Holbrook will ever get another shot at it.
Probably not, but he does have some Emmys to adorn his mantle.
-
That's an upset. I didn't read a single prediction that thought THE GOLDEN COMPASS was going to win.
Predictions are just that, no matter how many people make them.
-
And a Tony for MARK TWAIN TONIGHT.
-
The gazelles only missed one so far - the unexpected Golden Compass award. I didn't think Holbrook would get it - few have seen his performance unfortunately, and the Academy gave its aging character actor award last year.
-
Back to the show.
-
Whew....I thought that was Dr Joyce Brothers who won for Best Art Direction.
-
I actually liked the tribute to binoculars and periscopes. ;)
-
And why is Keri Russell presenting...
Oh... Nevermind...
-
Those things on the stage look like the regeneration tubes in THIS ISLAND EARTH.
-
I actually liked the tribute to binoculars and periscopes. ;)
It won't be so funny two and half hours from now, when that time could have been spent....GIVING OUT AN AWARD!!!! ;D
-
I hope DR GINNY and DH RICHARD didn't see the movie this song is from.
-
Well... It was used to get the choir in place.
-
My television seems to have switched over all by itself to CLASH OF THE CHOIRS.
-
Thanks for all the good thoughts; it was nice knowing you were all on my side.
I'm glad you're all right, and that DearReaderLaura is the wonder that she is!
-
I hope DR GINNY and DH RICHARD didn't see the movie this song is from.
Alas, I did. :-\
*And I thought this song was pretentious in the movie... and it's even moreso now.
-
People sitting in church pews?!??!?! Really?!?!?!?!? Why!?!?!?!?!??!
-
It's only for a moment. I just got up from a nap and wondered what was happening. Nowhere to find out than "here."
I'm guessing that the rest of the awards will go to
, but don't hold me to that.
:D
-
Didn't think much of that song, but it's better than the winners of the last few years.
-
Hmm... I forgot I had actually seen that winning short! :)
-
Well... It was used to get the choir in place.
Oh....got cha....it was a scene in one.... ;D
-
Very funny bee montage.
-
Owen Wilson looks fully recovered. Glad for him and hope he can stay clean.
-
And ANOTHER red dress!
-
And ANOTHER red dress!
Red is the new Black.
-
That song by the choir was from hunger.
-
The most wide open category of the night.
-
Who can it beeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY got it right!
-
Wow...good choice.....but bad makeup....wrong blush, baby
-
I'm not watching the Oscars so I can't comment on anything. Anthony is watching Jane Austen on Channel 13 and I'm in the bedroom. The television is in the living room and as I just mentioned, it's broadcasting Miss Austen. Looks like it will be another big night for posting so I'm trying to catch up now instead of having 20 some pages at work tomorrow morning.
-
Tilda's speech was refreshing!
-
LOL....I bet he dared her to say that....
-
I'm glad MICHAEL CLAYTON won something.
-
I was happy for Tilda Swinton. Although, I would have been happy for any of the nominees. :)
-
The gazelles were right about Tilda. Although, it's too bad Ruby Dee didn't get it - but Tilda was great. But, and it's a big BUTT - why does she look like that? That hair - that dress - that shine.
-
Several years ago, I hated it when GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK went hope empty handed when it was such a wonderful movie.
-
We transferred some records to CD with our new toy. We are very happy with it.
David (Singdaw), if you still haven't opened your box or hooked up your turntable and want us to come up to you some Saturday or Sunday, let us know. We will be happy to help you set up your toy. The weekend of March 8th is out but most other times are good for us.
-
I don't think we'll quite best last year - it's becoming apparent - just more posters last year.
-
I hope DR GINNY and DH RICHARD didn't see the movie this song is from.
Nope, and I don't intend to, either. If Richard gets it from Netflix, he can watch it while I'm at work.
-
Red is the new Black.
Does someone want to tell that to Tilda - She got her shower curtain at Ross.
-
Aren't there many less commercials this year? Are they saving them all up for the last two hours?
-
Soon I will have a CD of the film version of A Little Night Music thanks to ION (not the television station)
-
I hated that choir song.
-
No what I'd call "big" moments yet.
-
I miss Ellen De Generes.
-
Back to the show.
-
I do love that the Oscars are live around the country so we can say what we're thinking without fear of ruining it for someone.
-
missed on that one!
-
So, Sweeney got the one award it was going to get. I'm glad they got something.
-
I miss Ellen De Generes.
I agree
-
Yes, no spoilers necessary.
-
James McAvoy ain't handsome. Good actor but not handsome.
-
I am guessing NO COUNTRY
-
No surprise there.
-
James McAvoy ain't handsome. Good actor but not handsome.
He's not "conventionally" handsome. ;) The facial hair doesn't work for him.
-
Thanks, DR Ben. Very kind of you.
Will have to calibrate calendars. :)
-
I do love that the Oscars are live around the country so we can say what we're thinking without fear of ruining it for someone.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM They're not live here! ;)
-
Ellen Degeneres is always so ingratiating, never steps on anyone's toes or stoops for low jokes.
-
Awkward moment.
-
I thought Ernest Hemingway was dead.
-
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM They're not live here! ;)
The country I was referring to was implied to be the USA.
:o
-
So, is tonight's ceremony already scheduled to go to Midnight (EST)?
-
So that's how it's done.
-
This girl does weird things with her mouth....
-
Oohh.... I get it... Disney = ABC = Disney Channel = Miley Cyrus
::)
-
Bad makeup too.
Hope this musical number works...Here comes kristen
-
Oohh.... I get it... Disney = ABC = Disney Channel = Miley Cyrus
::)
BINGO
-
The country I was referring to was implied to be the USA.
:o
It was the second part of your statement Matt! Not the "country".
Fortunately I have NO problem (or I would have chosen not to log on here).
-
Ellen Degeneres is always so ingratiating, never steps on anyone's toes or stoops for low jokes.
I agree with you Matt. I have always liked her
-
So this is what it will look like when Disney puts it onstage next year?
-
Oohh.... I get it... Disney = ABC = Disney Channel = Miley Cyrus
::)
MIley's daddy is best known for one of the worst country music song in history, ACHY BREAKY HEART
It is bad!
-
Kristen in pretty good voice and nice dress.....screaming a bit though
-
Hmm... This song does not sit in her voice.... :-\
It's not bad. Just different. I think.
-
So this is what it will look like when Disney puts it onstage next year?
eeek!
-
Kristin has got IT!
Such a pro! Totally in control and superb!
-
Sweet! That is my favorite song this year.....fingers crossed
-
Hmm... Well, I guess she was in her "legit voice" mode tonight. Now, if she had used her "Contemporary Christian" voice, it might have worked better for me.
-
On a scale of previous song winners - Emimen's entry and the "Pimp" song, I won't really mind which song wins this year. ( I did think the song from "Cars" was by the far the best last year but the Melissa Ethridge song (thanks Jose) is fine).
-
That wasn't as exciting as I was hoping for...
-
eeek!
Inevitable in the Disney scheme of things. :P
-
Do all the red dresses have something to do with the Go Red campaign of the American Heart Association?
-
It was the second part of your statement Matt! Not the "country".
Fortunately I have NO problem (or I would have chosen not to log on here).
I guess I'm just distracted tonight. I don't get it.
-
I am still pondering DR CASON contemplating not aucitioning for ZUBRICK.
But we all make our own choices.
-
I thought that number, the best in the film, fell totally flat - needed a director who knew how to make it work for the stage. And Kristin showed none of the personality she has in spades - for me very unexciting and it was the number I was most looking forward to.
-
Do all the red dresses have something to do with the Go Red campaign of the American Heart Association?
They certainly clashed with the MERLOT carpet. 8)
-
Do all the red dresses have something to do with the Go Red campaign of the American Heart Association?
I was just thinking the same thing Ginny
-
Is there a soundtrack CD of Enchanted? :)
-
I thought that number, the best in the film, fell totally flat - needed a director who knew how to make it work for the stage. And Kristin showed none of the personality she has in spades - for me very unexciting and it was the number I was most looking forward to.
Could have been worse....they could have let Debbie Allen loose on it....
-
They were whizzing right along with the awards, but there haven't been as many in the last half hour.
-
Inevitable in the Disney scheme of things. :P
Actually, if anything, there will be some sort of "acknowledgment" of "Enchanted" in the Parks. Most likely, one of the songs will be placed into one of the Disney Princess medleys, shows, etc.
(I think I can share that info with you.) ;-)
-
Someone look up where we were last year at exactly this time - that would be interesting. The commercials have really kicked in.
-
Even enhanced it goes for just 9.99 at Amazon
-
I am still pondering DR CASON contemplating not aucitioning for ZUBRICK.
But we all make our own choices.
very true but I do hope he reconsiders
-
Dumb joke
-
Could have been worse....they could have let Debbie Allen loose on it....
Thankfully, she's been busy with Cat On A Hot Tin Roof here in NYC. ;)
-
I downloaded the Enchanted soundtrack from iTunes.
-
I haven't seen BOURNE ULTIMATUM yet.
-
Holly Halle Holly Halle Holly
-
I haven't seen BOURNE ULTIMATUM yet.
Okay.....but I like Matt Damon
-
Loud noisy films always win for sound editing.
-
I hope to be getting ENCHANTED on Blu-ray this week. Looki ng forward to it.
-
The Dench, Berry thing is terrible.
-
Did that joke really deserve a reprise?
-
I wrote Miss Karen about the Cason situation - no answer.
-
The Bourne film has SOUND, baby.
-
I think TRANSFORMERS was expected to win those two categories.
-
Nice git up, Grandpa
-
Are we even in the top ten yet? :)
-
I dont have Itunes... DBF got me rhapsody
-
Welcome eleven GUESTS.
-
I can't imagine Transformers winning anything.
-
Every time they do the clips, I just mourn for our old STARS.
-
I never liked the animated series... I did see part of hte movie and I was not impressed.
-
Wow! Best Actress this early!
-
Oh, we saw The Bourne Ultimatum, too, so that means we've seen 8 nominated films. Well, Richard and Rob saw it here on DVD while I slept in my chair. Does that count?
-
Just too boring for me.
Adios.
-
Here comes a BIG ONE!!
-
Here comes a BIG ONE!!
Is that your pickup line? ;)
-
Yep... I'd date Laura Linney. ;D
-
Good for her! Looks like a film I'd enjoy seeing.
-
Wow! I wanted Julie C......but this is okay from the clips I have seen ... and what I read here.
-
Is that your pickup line? ;)
Used to be. 8)
-
Did she do her own singing or did they use the Piaf recordings?
-
I think they used Piaf.
-
If I can't find a Blu Ray I can afford, should I just get an up-convert DVD player?
-
Neither - someone else sang the songs
-
A well-deserved win.
-
Did she do her own singing or did they use the Piaf recordings?
The Piaf recordings.
You see, there's this thing called "Technology"....
;)
-
I think they used Piaf.
sounds like it......but I have just heard what they've shown tonight
-
HOORAY She won the Cesar Award this week too.
-
Hmmmm......which is it?
-
I don't think that's correct, Jose - I just saw a solo CD by the gal who did them - big sticker on it saying she was the voice.
-
Rocco [from the DeBartoli commercial] is kind of cute!
-
I am baffled by this Oscarcast - why would they give a major award like that ninety minutes in? I must say, this is one of the most boring Oscars ever.
-
How come I keep starting new pages?
-
IMDB says Jil Aigrot did the singing....pretty uncanny impersonation though
-
If I can't find a Blu Ray I can afford, should I just get an up-convert DVD player?
If you could wait until fall, the Blu-rays should be much cheaper.
-
Did Jeanne say being here was boring?
-
Piaf was heard on most of the songs. The "early" songs used were not. There were no Piaf recordings of those.
-
If you could wait until fall, the Blu-rays should be much cheaper.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm........another decision to make.
Dumb joke
-
From Amazon.com:
As befits the soundtrack of a music biopic, most of the heavy lifting here is done by the movie's subject: iconic French singer Edith Piaf. She was the Gallic Judy Garland, a natural performer who overcame one personal tragedy after another and was never more alive than on stage, forging an uncommon bond with both material and audience. Since actress Marion Cotillard lip-synchs in the film, the first 11 tracks on the CD are by Piaf herself, and give a good overview of her biggest hits (though we get the English version of the title track) and her feverish, ultra-dramatic style. But Piaf wasn't only a tragedienne of song: Her lighter side is represented by "Rien de Rien" and "Mon Mančge ŕ Moi," which she infuses with wonderful flair. Tracks 12-20 are made up of Christopher Gunning's richly symphonic original score (check out "La Mort de Leplée"). The last third of the album offers Piaf without Piaf, with contemporary singers Jil Aigrot and Maya Barsoni performing her songs (apparently because the originals' poor sound quality meant they would have stuck out in the movie). Watch out, however, for Mistinguett's hilarious "Il m'a vu nue," a slice of French music-hall history preserved in amber. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
-
Oohh... With strings!
-
Pick a key folks and sing in it.
-
Interesting.....thanks DR JOSE.
-
My hearing is too far gone to try and sing... I just want to enjoy music as much as I can while I still have it <G>
-
...I would have loved to see the 5/8 number from the movie performed...
-
THanks, Jose. I knew I had read that Piaf's versions were used in te film.
-
I say, there.
That guitar has a few extra holes in it.
-
Didn't like that song much.
-
BTW, I am looking forward to meeting DR Laura on Saturday
-
Jack is funny
-
Ah.. So that's how they chose to end the song for the Oscars.... Hmm....
*I have to say, I prefer the version in the movie, which, from what I understand, was recorded live during the take. The version on the soundtrack is most definitely a cleaned up studio take. It's good, just not as raw as the movie take.
-
What is that theme song - the second one in the "Best Picture" tribute?
-
OH! That's why all those movies have been on the $10 sale at Virgin! -Even the two-disc sets! :)
-
Jack is funny
Is he nimble?
Is he quick?
-
Is he nimble?
Is he quick?
I'm not sure, but I bet he received a promo copy of the soundtrack to "Enchanted". ;)
-
Surely they're not giving Best Picture now.
-
Renee lost weight...pretty dress
-
What is that theme song - the second one in the "Best Picture" tribute?
??
Bourne is walking home with the technical awards! ;D
-
Another surprise!
-
And we're two hours in now... ;)
-
So most edits per minute is now what editing awards are all about.
-
Thanks for clearing up the Piaf mystery - so it's Piaf and two other singers.
-
Ugliest necklace ever on the Oscars.
-
I don't know what to think of that song from Once - bad lyrics, but an okay tune.
-
So... Nicole Kidman was chosen to introduce this tribute because.... ???
-
I just ordered the LA VIE EN ROSE DVD and CD!
-
I will have to investigate this sound track and singer. I am intrigued
-
OMG did they raid the DOOL costume department
-
Hard to believe he didn't win for any of those films.
-
Read about the singer, DR DAKOTA CELT....you may be even more intrigued.
-
Nicole's necklace was ugly AND cockeyed!
-
I have returned home from rehearsal and have eaten. :) Now, I have some catching up to do. :D
-
Nicole's necklace was ugly AND cockeyed!
But it's all about the BLING, Baby! All about the BLING!
-
It was just TOO BUSY.
-
It all started in a small 5000 watt station in Baker California
-
Nicole looks like she's going to faint
-
So... Nicole Kidman was chosen to introduce this tribute because.... ???
...because Mary Pickford is dead.
-
Waiting for a magic moment like the year Stanley Donen got his honorary Oscar.
-
That was a wonderful and sweet and very nicely delivered speech.
-
Mr. Boyle did so many incredible films - really amazing.
-
Waiting for a magic moment like the year Stanley Donen got his honorary Oscar.
Yes, it's always better when they're not trotting out a near-corpse.
-
Oh, has any one seen the movie COLMA? It's a musical. My friend Sydney, a movie buff, insisted I watch it. Admittedly, it wasn't to my taste, but I'd like to hear other opinions.
I bought a used copy of the DVD, but I haven't watched it yet. It was very cheap, so I didn't mind if it turns out that I don't like it. :)
-
OMG.....it's the Gentrys singing Let's Dance in a JCPENNEY commercial.....what a great band.....
-
Rocco [from the DeBartoli commercial] is kind of cute!
Kind of cute?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Nicole's necklace was ugly AND cockeyed!
Oh...your beads wouldn't hang straight, either, if you had bosoms like hers
-
Sorry...
Trying to stick it out, but this sore throat and hacking cough is getting the best of me.
-
Commercials are endless.
-
Bob Hope isn't there tonight.
-
Fifteen GUESTS, fifteen USERS.
-
Because my alarm will go off at 5:50am, I'm only gonna stick with this until 11pm EST.
-
Translator please.
-
Funny thing...both S.F. Chronicle movie critics are faring very badly with their predictions vs. the actual winners.
-
fifteen USERS
Oh, I'm a USER, all right. Mucinex, cough syrup, etc, etc, etc!
-
All of those films look interesting.
Reading about CALMA at IMDB.....hmmmmmmmmm
-
Who?
-
Kind of cute?
Well... He's still cute, still hot... But he used to be cuter, hotter. Way too much attitude now. Ah, well. And I don't believe he currently has an open restaurant in NYC at the moment.
-
Patrick Dempsey looking good. Where is James Marsden tonight?
-
Damn....this is that crazy song they called a waltz and it's not.
-
Hmm... I'm digging the shorter hair... although, it sounds like he can't hear the monitor and/or he's getting over a cold.
-
Why on earth did they pick him to sing the song? Does he sing a cover for it in the end credits?
-
Who's this singer? From AI?
-
The song didn't get the rendition it deserved with that delivery. Sorry.
-
Damn....this is that crazy song they called a waltz and it's not.
YES IT IS!
1, 2, 3 and 1, 2, 3 and 1, 2, 3 and...
;)
-
Read about the singer, DR DAKOTA CELT....you may be even more intrigued.
I am bookmarking a couple of sites not for further study... Looks very intersting - I am intrigued
-
I HATE THIS SINGER - I HATE THIS SONG - I HATE THIS STAGING
-
Someone give this stupid idiot singer Kimmel lesson number one - KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN WHEN YOU'RE SINGING.
-
Ugh! I do NOT like that man!
-
Nicole's necklace was ugly AND cockeyed!
Looks like something out of the depth of some costume department...
-
They've gotta mop that stage behind the stage right podium!
-
Who sang that last song?
-
GEt well vibes to Singdaw
-
No surprise for that win. The three ENCHANTED songs probably split their votes.
I liked it OK.
-
The gazelles got best song right.
-
:( I really wanted "thats how you know" to win
-
And what is that thing on Stephen's head.
-
No surprise for that win. The three ENCHANTED songs probably split their votes.
I liked it OK.
It's cold out there for a pimp.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
WOW!!!!!!!!
That's all I'm sayin'. ;)
-
You can't dance a waltz to it on the beat.....I tried.
Sure you can if you give it a pickup.....but I don't remember a pickup in The Blue Danube.
-
:( I really wanted "thats how you know" to win
Me too
-
And what is that thing on Stephen's head.
I just saw that.....kinda scary. ;D
-
Bob Hope is not there tonight.
-
I see what the story is - last year we were on this page BEFORE the show began!!! :)
-
I'm hungry
-
I don't remember a pickup in The Blue Danube.
No...
It was at the Reservoir.
-
As Ron asked earlier...... who sang that last song?
-
I think they said his name was James McLaughlin.
-
Thanks, DR DakotaCelt!
-
Bob Hope is still alive?
-
I thought he passed away
-
Awwww... This is nice. :)
-
WE are 16 pages off from last years record at this time
-
Worth hearing.
Oh my here comes this dame with the weird mug.
-
I just looked
-
I thought that was Jon MacLauglin who sang "Just Once"... The same guy who sang it in the movie. He just had a haircut.
-
Looks like they're spreading the Oscars around this year.
-
Two time Academy Award Winner Hillary Swank just sounds so wrong.
Oh the sad part.
-
Where are Edi, Rodz, TPunk?
Anyone heard from Danise?
-
I am not even going to try to catch up. I haven't seen any movies anyway.
-
Two time Academy Award Winner Hillary Swank just sounds so wrong.
Just as wrong as... "Broadway Director - Debbie Allen".
;)
-
Where are Edi, Rodz, TPunk?
Anyone heard from Danise?
DR edisaurus is pulling up bushes and planting bulbs at a friend's house.
DR TPunk is ... ???
DR Rodzinksi is ... ???
DR Jane heard from Danise recently. She's doing fine. Just been busy.
-
Just as wrong as... "Broadway Director - Debbie Allen".
;)
It makes my hair hurt.
-
kerry is ok . we are waiting for the paperwork to go home.
Great news!! :D ;D
-
I think it would be a tragedy if Cason isn't THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X! Of course I think it is a tragedy that I am not going to be in THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X, also; but that is another kettle of fish.
-
Two time Academy Award Winner Hillary Swank just sounds so wrong.
She earned it.
-
Two time Academy Award Winner Hillary Swank just sounds so wrong.
Oh the sad part.
She's been incredibly lucky to score big parts and have them open in years with weak competition. I find her a very limited actress.
-
I iz fading fast folks.
-
Michael Kidd - dancer. Not director, not choreographer - who ARE the fools who do this. And couldn't you just predict that the biggest applause would go to the only person most of these young fools know - Heath Ledger.
-
She earned it.
So did Deborah Kerr and she has NOTHING to show for it. :P
-
It totally took my breath away when they showed Heath Ledger on that screen.
-
Two time Academy Award Winner Hillary Swank just sounds so wrong.
Oh the sad part.
She's been incredibly lucky to score big parts and have them open in years with weak competition. I find her a very limited actress.
-
HA!
I just had three friends IM me at almost the same time with the same message...
"Oscars... BORING!"
;)
-
I'm over this Cason thing - it is really bothering me that he didn't respond to my e-mail telling him I would work around his few little sched problems.
-
I think Rodzinski is history. It is totally surprising that edisaurus is missing this grand night.
-
So did Deborah Kerr and she has NOTHING to show for it. :P
She received an honorary Oscar.
I wouldn't deprive Ingrid Bergman or Joanne Woodward of their Oscars, although Kerr's two nominated performances in those years are my favoirtes.
It's tough...sometimes..
-
Score -
-
I'm over this Cason thing - it is really bothering me that he didn't respond to my e-mail telling him I would work around his few little sched problems.
Or maybe he'd prefer that such matters not be discussed in/on a public forum.
-
THanks for the info Jose
-
Award for best reading of the teleprompter goes to Amy Adams
-
HA!
I just had three friends IM me at almost the same time with the same message...
"Oscars... BORING!"
;)
They obviously don't know HOW to watch them properly. You should have invited them here as "lurking guests".
-
Exactly as predicted by most film score pundits.
-
I was sort of hoping for Giacchino.
-
Interesting choice.
Don't know much about the film....but it looked kind of depressing.
-
I really wish they would keep the camera still for the speeches.
-
I think Rodzinski is history. It is totally surprising that edisaurus is missing this grand night.
Well... If you read and remember her post about her "traditional" Oscar party getting cancelled (the one that produced "Flan's Labyrinth"), and going to another party tonight...
-
Twelve GUESTS, twelve USERS - who did we lose?
-
Which is why she was so good as Anthony in SWEENEY TODD. ;)
ROTFLMAO!! ;D
-
Awww... Now this is making me cry...
-
Nice use of technology!!
-
Interesting way to do that award.
-
Same sex couples - had to win.
-
Not many awards left, right?
-
Wonder if SICKO will get for best documentary
-
I think the show will come in around three ten.
-
I hope NO END IN SIGHT wins this next one.
-
Doc feature - I'd give it to Sicko.
-
I have seen that one... It is eye-opening...
-
Four categories left after this one.
-
Wow!
-
WOW! Indeed!
-
THat is surprising
-
The gazelles picked the right doc.
-
How come I keep starting new pages?
-
Hmmm... Just received another 40%-off DVD Boxed Sets Coupon for Border's... Hmm... "Tell Me You Love Me"... Hmm...
-
OK, movie-fans, I'm 20 minutes past my limit.
'night!
-
So who will present Best Picture? Harrison Ford? Tom Cruise?
-
They must be determined to bring this right in at three, but they're not going to succeed. Who's on Barbara Walters?
-
Good night DR GINNY.
I am not down with women's issues or the war, so there you are. Where was the documentary on independent bookstores or community theater?
-
They must be determined to bring this right in at three, but they're not going to succeed. Who's on Barbara Walters?
Miley Cyrus is one of them, I think.
-
I don't think we'll make the top five.
-
Good night Ginny...
-
Harrison Ford...wow....wheel him in.
-
only 182 posts
-
I don't think we'll make the top five.
Reflection of the caliber of the movies this year, I think....last year was pretty exciting with some fun pictures.
-
The stripper wins!
-
where are SWW and derBrucer? Did Ron decide to depart?
-
No surprise there.
-
I agree JRAnd
-
Might be Johnny Depp to present Best Picture. He was voted the #1 box-office star last year.
-
DR Ron Pulliam is not here. ;)
-
Speech from the heart, very nice.
-
He must have decided not to stick around
-
That was the evening's most predictable award.
-
WE only need about 34 more pages to capture last year...
-
I still see DR RLP on the top of my page.
-
So there will be five minutes of commercials after each of the next awards. Now I see their plan.
-
I take it Diablo Cody won
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Jump in Ron... :)
-
WE only need about 34 more pages to capture last year...
Somebody has some work to do.....
-
I take it Diablo Cody won
yes
-
He must have decided not to stick around
Remember, he was not going to be at the par-tay tonight. So... He is not here. ;)
-
So stylish and classy. Love her.
-
Wow! Helen Mirren's dress is gorgeous! :)
-
I forgot...
-
I am doing work... Writing up cards for LOST books
-
and watching the desk... I have no students tonight -- JOY, I get to close the library by myself...
-
DDL
-
No surprise there.
-
work work work DR DAKOTA CELT
-
What the hell is he talking about?
-
Very nice speech.
-
WHAT an upset!
-
WHAT an upset!
Really? Not really.
-
I take it Diablo Cody won
Who the heck names a child "Diablo???"
-
Director - the Coens, I think.
Picture - unknown at this time.
-
Now to see if the Coen Brothers will get Best Director instead of Best Picture, or vice versa.
-
Sixteen GUESTS, eight USERS. Getting a little lopsided for my taste, but remember, the partay goes on after the show.
-
We're going to three hours and twenty minutes, because I'm right about the five minutes of commercials between each of the final awards.
-
Could be upsets in both categories.
-
Who the heck names a child "Diablo???"
Diablo, Sr.
-
I picked DAniel day Lewis
-
Who didn't?
-
true...
I have always liked him as an actor
-
Diablo Cody is originally from the Twin Cities area
-
Well, I'm looking forward to seeing their film this week.
-
Maybe I should see this movie.
Funny speeches.....
-
Diablo Cody is originally from the Twin Cities area
Wonder where she has that tattooed?
-
Ah! Denzel presents Best Picture. A logical choice.
-
The first movie I saw DDL in was MY LEFT FOOT
-
I'm thinking THERE WILL BE BLOOD....but I could be wrong.
-
Wonder where she has that tattooed?
we can only surmise....
-
I think it could be interesting if she ever hooked up with the coens to do a film
-
Well I guess I HAVE to see it now!
-
So the Soens win three Oscars in one evening tying Billy Wilder for THE APARTMENT.
-
I guess Michael Clayton got that award for Tilda because it wasn't getting anything else.
-
Hmm... Now that was a bit of a shocker. Now if the Coen brothers would just look excited. ;)
-
I will be seeing MICHAEL CLAYTON soon.
-
that is my suspicion also Jrand
-
Let's get rid of Jon Stewart next year, okay? Time for to go to bed.
-
Let's get rid of Jon Stewart next year, okay? Time for to go to bed.
Bring back Ellen...
Niters Jrand
-
the Coens never look excited
-
That was an interesting closing note...."Without you, honey, this would just be hardware".
-
The Coens already had an Oscar apiece for FARGO, so it's not quite the same thrill, I suspect.
-
I think Juno could be spoiler but I still think it will be the Coen film
-
It would also be nice, aside from a NEW, host, is if Jack Nicholson weren't so "visible"...like in a 5th row seat or something.
-
I think Juno could be spoiler but I still think it will be the Coen film
Are we on a time delay?
-
In the movie FArgo, I recognize a couple of the exits that show up in the movie..
-
That was an interesting closing note...."Without you, honey, this would just be hardware".
Well... That acknowledgment made me COL - Clap Out Loud. :)
-
It was an OK show. Stewart had some cute bits scattered throughout the show, but there isn't quite the excitement of the unexpected with him as it is with Whoopi or Billy.
-
I might bee.I have been using CNN's oscar coverage and they do nto update really fast
-
Well... That acknowledgment made me COL - Clap Out Loud. :)
Me, too. I loved it.
-
I've not seen the other nominees for Best Pic but I'm really quite pleased that "Atonement" did not win. Those that like the book seems to love the movie but for me it just did not hold together at all. (and I have no memory of the score!)
-
That's what i get for doing four things at once <G>
-
Well, that was a boring Oscars and I think whoever said it was because it was just too predictable that we didn't have quite the record as last year. Of course, there's three hours before the next notes go up.
-
Well, I'm shutting off this downstairs computer and transferring back to the uipstairs one.
I'll be back (Terminator reference).
-
Cody also now on the staff of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.
. . .whose predictions weren't on the money, for a change.
-
Well... I have some laundry to fold, so...
Laters...
-
Only thirty-five pages to beat last year's record :)
-
Now that I've finally caught up with all the posts ::) I'm going to watch the beginning of the broadcast and see the musical numbers.
-
Hmmm, Looking on rhapsody... I see two soundtracks I will download... I will need something to listen to on a nearly 3 hour flight....
BTW, if anyone wants to join Laura and I in Lost Wages on Saturday, you are invited.....
-
Oddly, as much as I have been on here tonight... I have acutally gotten a fair amount accomplished...
-
Cuba has made one bomb after another.
I liked WHAT DREAMS MAY COME. ;D
-
I'm pleased with the winners for the most part. Delighted that RATATOUILLE won. Pixar has only won the award three times now: FINDING NEMO, INCREDIBLES, and tonight's win. I was really afraid they'd be denied it.
-
I liked WHAT DREAMS MAY COME. ;D
Oh, so YOU were the one?
;D
-
And why is Keri Russell presenting...
Oh... Nevermind...
Keri Russell was a non-nominee for her fine work in WAITRESS the year before last.
-
I liked RATATOUILLE and I am glad they won
-
The gazelles were right about Tilda. Although, it's too bad Ruby Dee didn't get it - but Tilda was great. But, and it's a big BUTT - why does she look like that? That hair - that dress - that shine.
It's a long, long road from her work with Derek Jarman, isn't it?
-
Only 33 more pages until we tie last year...
-
Every time they do the clips, I just mourn for our old STARS.
You mourn, I bust into tears whenever I see Audrey Hepburn. . . :'(
-
I think that the Oscar show was the most boring in the history of the Academy Awards.
That's what happens when writers only have 11 days to do their job.
-
I don't know what to think of that song from Once - bad lyrics, but an okay tune.
When I heard the first notes of the song from ONCE, I thought it was a old song from the 1960s. . .I kept hearing "I don't love you, but I want you. . ." or something to that effect.
-
There was enough variation with the winners to prevent the show for being boring since I was truly expecting a few more upsets since we did have one or two. The jokes were no better or worse than they've been with more preparation time, I thought. Par for the course.
-
I'm heading downstairs to bed now.
Good night!
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I will hoppefully start page 37
-
no go....
-
The show was boring.
Helen Mirren is class personified. I liked her moment with Daniel Day-Lewis as they were leaving the stage.
At least I got two new cds out of tonight's viewing: ONCE and ENCHANTED. If I never hear that gospel song again, it will be too soon.
-
Back from my Oscar party. It was a nice evening, some old friends and some new ones. I didn't win the pool and ate too much
-
I haven't caught up yet, I'll have to go back and read a little.
-
I haven't caught up yet, I'll have to go back and read a little.
Don't forget to catch up AND post at the same time!
-
yes, many interesting comments...
-
td, I really do think some designers need to refrain from using shower curtains for dresses
-
This is fantastic. The dancing dog. 2 minutes long.
http://www.koreus.com/video/chien-danseur.html
/quote]
It's only a matter of time before we have DOG DANCING WITH THE STARS.
-
I went with my friend Rachel to dig plants at Kathryn's. Afterwards, the DH's met us there and we had dinner and ended up watching the Oscars there. I missed the whole party. I should be bitch slapped!
-
Catching up is pretty funny...it's like
Wow!
-
That was an upset
-
Oh I expected that
-
It's a little too hard to follow most of it. Certainly no spoiler warnings were necessary for this, lol
-
My cousin who has an autistic son sent me the following email. Please Click Here (http://www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com/videos/view/id/408214) to help. Thank you.
I like that band anyway, so I was glad to see it.
I saw a great documentary about autism at the Full Frame festival a few years ago called "Refridgerator Mothers". The woman who made it has an autistic son. I would highly recommend it to your cousin.
-
And you WILL be bitch-slapped.
-
There is a new Australian movie about Autism - the wonderful Toni Colette is in it. It's already won awards in Europe.
-
"The Black Balloon"
-
I like Toni Collette... I look forward to seeing it
-
Less than 100 posts into the top 5
-
I just watched Amy Adams singing her song. She was so cute! ;D
-
Ok, I get that No Country won and I expected it from all the buzz, but I have to say I really didn't like the movie. I also didn't like There Will Be Blood. But apparently it's just me
-
Ok, I get that No Country won and I expected it from all the buzz, but I have to say I really didn't like the movie. I also didn't like There Will Be Blood. But apparently it's just me
Did you like NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN up until the last twenty minutes or so?
-
I just watched Amy Adams singing her song. She was so cute! ;D
Wait until you see her PRESENT an award! She's even more charming!
-
Well, since my work week starts with THREE doubling days, I'd best be off to hit the hay.
-
Did you like NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN up until the last twenty minutes or so?
No. I didn't really like it at all
-
Wait until you see her PRESENT an award! She's even more charming!
I keep forgetting that I'm now watching it from the DVR and I forget to fast-forward through the commercials. :P
;)
-
I did like In the Valley of Elah. I am surprised I hadn't heard anything about that film other than Tommy Lee Jones was nominated for it
-
Of the films nominated for best picture. I liked Atonement, Michael Clayton and Juno (not necessarily in that order) and didn't like There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men - Just not my cup of tea
-
Of the films nominated for best picture. I liked Atonement, Michael Clayton and Juno (not necessarily in that order) and didn't like There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men - Just not my cup of tea
I've seen the three that you like and liked them, also. I haven't seen the other two.
-
I did like In the Valley of Elah. I am surprised I hadn't heard anything about that film other than Tommy Lee Jones was nominated for it
Do you read the notes? I talked at length about this film last week. And I most certainly did not love No Country For Old Men and I really didn't love There Will Be Blood.
-
Guess we're not getting into the top five, although there IS an hour left.
-
I suppose I personally could make about sixty posts.
-
Will we never get to page thirty-eight?
-
Welcome eight GUESTS.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Gratuitous Post # 1100!
;D
-
Was making a snack and now finishing it...
I was hungry :)
-
only 50 posts to go...
-
Looking forward to a vacation... It has been a rough year....
-
Listening to American Idol rewind... Please explain to me why someone thinks a song from GREASE is a country song....
-
that confuses me ....
-
Wait until you see her PRESENT an award! She's even more charming!
I just got to it. She was! :)
-
WHen I left my mother's to come back to Fargo, I was at the local convenience store to get some coffee they had a radio station that was playing an excruciatingly bad singer...
-
This singer was excruciatingly bad.... and she was trying to sing in a pitch she had not business singing in
-
I literally ran out of the shop
-
and a person was claiming she was a wonderful singer.... Yikes... I guess my tastes are a bit different
-
This singer was excruciatingly bad.... and she was trying to sing in a pitch she had not business singing in
I hate it when that happens!
-
I think it was a country station....
-
Good Morning! ;)
And Goodnight.
-
I hate it when that happens!
it was bad....
-
Good night Jose, pleasant dreams...
-
Well George, we are less than 40 to getting into the 5th spot

I did look at a few more pics from the oscars... I really do like Anne Hathaway's dress...
Helen Mirren is classy as always....
Amy Adams is beautiful person!
-
George, how many of the Oscar nominated films did you see this past year?
Of the five "best picture" pictures, I've only seen three...and I liked them all.
-
about 11 more posts to page 39....
-
Which ones did you see?
-
I found Atonement rather interesting. I want to see Juno
-
Looking to see if I can find the soundtrack for WATERHORSE
-
I think we can get 20 posts before midnight to get us into 5th place...
-
How are rehearsals going George?
So far, so good. We've blocked most of the first act and tomorrow night, I don't have to be there at all! They're doing a big dance number that I'm not in. :) I'll finally have time to (hopefully) actually work on memorizing my part. :-\
-
I do have a question of those who saw the red carpet, was it raining in LA?
-
Which ones did you see?
Atonement, Michael Clayton and Juno.
-
I do have a question of those who saw the red carpet, was it raining in LA?
It didn't look like it.
-
And since we're so close...
-

I bet the organizers were glad...

I prefer baritone...aka lazy tenor. ;)
-
65 more posts to 4th place....
-
I don't think that we can post 65+ more posts before BK locks the day.
-
We could frenzy....
-
WE have not seen him come back yet... but we can try :)
-
He might be having a snack and is busy composing, therefore he might close it late...
-
You can try. I don't think I have the energy.
-
U never know.... perhaps derbrucer can help us
-
Well, we can at least try for page 40.
-
WE are close to page 40
-
Only two more posts...after this one.
-
true, true
-
yes, only a few more...
-
We have reached 40!!!
-
:D
-
not often we can say
PAGE 40!!
-
Nope!
-
Wonder what would happen if HHW would be tapped for Dancing with the Stars?
-
Will we never get to page forty?
-
It is nice to be in a lofty position to say page 40
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page forty.
-
Will we ever get to page 41!
-
Bk, have you ever attended the Oscars or Emmy awards in person?
-
only 41 posts from the fourth spot....
-
No, only the Grammys.
-
Gee, I am only 25 posts from 12300....
