Have I mentioned that Skip and I got to meet Cindy Williams after we saw her lovely performance in DROWSY CHAPERONE in December?  She was so nice, even before we mentioned that we knew Bruce Kimmel, and she seemed delighted that we knew Bruce.

Oh I did mention that?  several times?  Well, it's  a post, anyway.

TCB is short for THEN CAME BRONSON?
Title: Re:THEN CAME BRONSON

Or perhaps, since I am a big fan of THEN CAME BRONSON (as well as TCB!) and have the entire series, thanks to the research of DR SingSing, and you are thinking of me because you owe me a phone call!?!

Well... I'm running a little late this morning, so...

Two days down, one to go!  -And with the snow, I'm sure it's going to be an interesting day - especially since most of the auditionees are not staying in the same hotel complex that the auditions are taking place in.  Some of the other host hotels are a little bit a walk away.  -And since the city's free shuttles don't start running until 9:00am... and the briefing is at 9:00am, well...  I hope they packed their winter wear!

Laters...

Good morniing, all!  I'm off to the laundromat.  I've got it down now to about twice a week, as opposed to daily wash, and in between jaunts to the laundromat, I'll continue the cleaning here.

Because of the stormy weather, I plan to do my Toyland work here this weekend.  I have to call our BK later in the morning, since I awoke to find a message from him, and it shou;d be - I hope - a rather quiet day.

Saturday Snow Day morning greetings!  Our county is now on a Level 3 snow emergency, which means:

All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during this condition unless it is absolutely necessary or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report for work. Anyone traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.

For any of you looking for a good mystery/thriller DVD, I highly recommend the BBC miniseries "State of Play," which I just reviewed for DVDTalk.  It's being adapted into a feature film starring Ben Affleck, but this is the original 6 hour miniseries and it's fantastic.

Today is Pacific Pops Choir performance day.  Our concert is entitled "A Stage and Screen Spectacular Starring Pacific Pops Choir" and features songs with some sort of "show" tie-in.  Y'all will know most of these already, but see if you can guess the connection:

Daybreak
And We Were Lovers
Green Leaves of Summer
Give a Damn
Time of Our Lives
Can't Help Falling in Love
Seasons of Love
Baby Elephant Walk
Nikki
Rhythm of Life
Light Sings

That's a lot of choral arranging, if I do say so myself.  :)

Last night I watched A RAGE TO LIVE...wow...I just love Suzanne Pleshette, and this role was certainly different then her role in, say, GEISHA BOY! And Ben Gazzara should not have been allowed to go "commando" in this movie...it was very distracting.

The cast was wonderful...Bethel Leslie (such a strange looking woman), Linden Chiles (yummy!), Mark Goddard (evil and yummy)...and, I had forgotten how yummy Peter Graves was....hmmmm...I maybe I am starting to have a rage to live!

I didn't realize that BRONSON was a flop. When it aired, I thought it was the best show ever and that Bronson had the coolest life, traveling all over the country on his motorcycle, doing good and then driving off into the sunset like the Lone Ranger.

IIRC, this was the first TV series to shoot on location, in various western states.

Yes, der B, the front-line people get complaints all the time and I get them when I'm offsite representing the Library.  Unfortunately, the complaints usually aren't made to the folks who work behing the glass doors on the second floor.

DR Ginny-ROOF VIBES!
...

Thanks, DR Jane!  That avalanche just slid off the roof while Richard and I were sitting in the family room eating our lunch.

And, yes, to your earlier question.  I did sleep in this morning - until about 8:15, which is late for me.  It was nice not to have to go through the motions of getting ready for work and I'm going to send our director an email thanking him for making the decision/announcement last night about today's closing.

We are certainly lucking out on the weather today.  Forecasts vacillated between 6 to 8 inches OR 3 to 5; now it has finally snowed and the forecast for this "winter storm" is "possibly up to an inch."    ;D

That is thoughtful to send the thank you email.  I bet your director also wanted to sleep in this morning ;)

Slightly further north, they had major accumulations, Jane.
Lake Erie is frozen solid with up to 14 inches of ice.

Even Cranberry Township, which is less than 20 miles north of me, had major accumulation this morning.

I guessing the weather in Shadyside is similar to your weather.

Do they actually arrest people for driving in the snow?

I've never heard of them arresting people. I have heard of them saying that conditions are so bad if you go in the ditch we won't be looking for you til the weather gets better.  I also think it's a liability thing. You are essentially driving at your own risk - if you get in an accident and die, don't sue us

It's cloudy here.  I've been at the office most of the day.  I got here and realized immediately that I needed to go to Staples and get some supplies, so I did that and have had a very productive day.   I got 1 of the 3 things done, but got about 15 others done that weren't on the list. So that's ok.  I'm going to pack up some work and go home and clean

I did finally watch the PROJECT RUNWAY finale while I cooked and ate lunch. All three designers had interesting and beautiful creations. Obviously I preferred the designs of the one who finished second, but I could see the judges' reasoning behind their #1 pick. I didn't agree with it, but I could see where they were coming from.

I do wish we could have seen the collections for the two designers who finished fourth and fifth and who also showed at Fashion Week (though not in PROJECT RUNWAY competition.)

Next, I istened to the audio commentary for THE ICE STORM. Ang Lee's English is just still foreign-influenced enough to be funny and endearing. His producer partner (who also wrote the script) did the majority of the talking and their close friendship was obvious. Lots of nice bits of information dissiminated in the commentary.

I went to the Apple Store this morning and I'm happy to say that a helpful fellow taught me how to use Garage Band, so that I can now record and sing right from my piano right into the computer - very handy and it works great - I can play the piano first, then lay the vocal over it, and if a song has three counterpoint sections I can do them all.  Then it goes directly into iTunes.

A couple years ago, when I started having trouble with this old lap top...oh sheesh that must have been almost 3 years ago, anyway, I let the husband of one of my former coworkers "fix" it for me.  He designed the thing so I figured he could fix it.

Of course he didn't tell me it had a design flaw, he also didn't tell me he installed a bogus version of Windows XP, so here I am reformatting and installing the original version that came with the computer becasue the new "Validation tool" won't let me get online with the old version.

It's just as well.  I haven't put much on this computer yet anyway, so I can start fresh.  I can't believe how well it's working now that I fixed it

The cast was wonderful...Bethel Leslie (such a strange looking woman), Linden Chiles (yummy!), Mark Goddard (evil and yummy)...and, I had forgotten how yummy Peter Graves was....hmmmm...I maybe I am starting to have a rage to live!

Wow!  That is wonderful.  In July we will have lived here 10 years.  Prior to this house the longest we lived anywhere was 5 1/2 years, in our Pennsylvania home.

The only down side to living in the same place for 20 years is that we haven't had the opportunities to purge stuff that you get when you move.  We've been better in the last few years about getting rid of stuff, but have a long way to go.

DR elmore, do you like the smell of moth balls?  I am allergic to them and doubt I could ever use the items again. ???

My former neighbor, Helen, used to put mothballs around her house to keep rabbits out of her garden. Anytime the wind was from the south I smelled moth balls.

And, when I first moved in, she brought me this pasta dish and it tasted like mothballs. I thought she was trying to poison me or something. I later learned that everything in her house smelled like mothballs too.

Donald O'Connor, Anne Francis, Connie Stevens, Elaine Joyce, Gavin MacLeod, Donnie Most, Michael Cole, and Sheldon Leonard.  What a great episode!

Watched another fun movie that was on my DVR...TAKE A GIANT STEP (1959)...JRand, I think you would like it...sort of an African-American THE RESTLESS YEARS...and although it was released by United Artists, everything about it reaked of Universal-International (particularly since it was filmed on the studio's back lot)...and the lead actor, Johnny Nash, was certainly the black John Saxon.

Oh, and Estelle Hemsley co-starred...some may recall her turn as the old, old, old, ancient lady in THE LEECH WOMAN...well, she is very old in this movie too, and she absolutely steals the movie!

The Vixter is in the ensemble for for her high school production Thoroughly Modern Millie  she had to supply her own costumes (and she needed 3 differnt ones)  fortunately I had in my possession 2 actual 1920's dresses that belonged to my sister-in-laws grandmother that fit the Vixter perfectly but the 3rd had to be a flapper outfit

We visted a local Good Will and found a red dress with the correct hem length and boxy shape and bought yards of 4" red fringe and (since I do not possess a working sewing machine, nor do I now how to use one)  I handstiched the fringe to the hem and the neckline which took several hours)

Thursday she brough he costume in for approval and was told it was beautiful but that only Millie was allowed to wear red in that scene so she needed new one... apparently several of the girls had come with red outfits so I do not think the that the director had made that condition plain ... if it had been only Vixter who had missed it would have blamed her for not paying attention
 ::)

SO Thursday night we visted the Good Will and found another dress and then went searching for fringe and searched and searched and searched

Friday morning I started calling fabric stores in the 15 mile radius and FINALLY found one that had several yards of 4" black fringe so afterwork I zipped over and purchased  and which I was stiching to the dress yesterday from 10 PM  until 3 AM this morning since she needed it for the dress rehearsal today at 9 AM

So I was up at 3 AM when the waters began to invade... so that was actually a good thing as I was able to "dam" the problem areas with our "basement towels" and start the dehumidfier and move items from harm's way.. so - so far so good!

DR vixmom, it seems to me the person in charge of the vixter's production should have been more on top of notifying the parents on what was needed for costumes,  I'm sorry you've had needless work and errands.

I've lost my tv remote! Ihave no idea where the fat hell I tossed it this afternoon.  I've been looking for an hour now, and I'm certain it's in an obvious place. If it were my cell phone I could dial the number and listen for the ring, but I'm stymied.  Oy!

They stopped eating at noon yesterday and didn't eat until after 4 PM  today

After rehearsal I picked her up and she went to area businesses to collect donations for the Famine  unbtilthe rains began
thenm home to shower and change and then to the church for an all night LockIn

then I picked her up and dropped her for rehearsal .. while I went and helped unload  THE GIRL SCOUT COOKIES from the delivery truck into the GS Leaders' car

After rehearsal and I collected Victer and we went to the local supermarket where we joined other kids from her youth group and to ask for donations of food and $$

One of the dad's and a few of the teeange boys stood at one entrance to the market while I had the Vixter and 2 other younger girls at our entrance

I guess hungry little girls staning in the rain are more pitiful than hungry tall teenage boys  because the girls collected a full supermarket cart full of canned goods and $153 to the boys 1/2 cast and  $72

They are all in the back of the car still.  Hopefully the rain will stop tomorrow and I can unload them all and get them shipped out to everyone

And now I'm back at my hotel, and shall be packing my luggage so that I can sleep in a bit tomorrow morning before the limo(!) service comes to pick me up to bring to the airport at 10:30. :)

I guess it is time to sit down and watch a Bollywood movie...tonights Bollywood film is the recent hit AAJA NACHLE (2007)...it stars 1980s superstar Madhuri Dixit, in her comeback film, and is about a 40-something dance teacher who returns to her home town when her former dance instructor passes away.

Upon her return she finds that land developer wants to demolish the old dance school, and her memories...can she save it! I will soon find out.

It's being staged at our new performance arts center. I've never been, so I'm looking forward to seeing it, and the show!

You'd think at 65 that Jesus is about ready to retire now!
