DR MATTH - it would be nice if there was a package in your mailbox to upset that viewing plan!
In response to all the brouhaha Bush is pushing about marriage being sacred, only for a man and a woman, etc.:
Same sex marriages don't produce children - ie: future soldiers.
And no, I'm not kidding. The Roman emperor Augustus (the first emperor after Rome's ill-fated tenure as a republic) made all sorts of laws that emphasized "the good Roman family" in order to ensure that lots and lots of tiny Romans would be born, and grow up to continue Rome's conquest of the world. Men who remained bachelors were fined and denied honors. Women who bore three or more children (ensuring population growth) ensured enormous tax breaks for their families.
The difference is that in ancient Rome, Augustus actually stated his intentions outright: Rome needs lots and lots more soldiers to remain great! Now there's more subterfuge. But it's the same old strategy.
DR DinTo - there are so MANY things that I hate about going to the supermarket that I go on Saturday morning at 5 a.m. 8)
The bread situation you described is disgusting. Are they trying to make it an impulse item? Bleh! :P
Before my current trend, however, I hated people who stand and talk to friends and block the aisle and/or items....talk on the phone, FCS! People without ID who want to write a check....cashiers and sackers who carry on personal conversations with each other while they do your order....items that ring at a different price than what is on the shelf or ad...the way people drive in the parking lot...and unattended children!
I know, I know, and yes I have talked to my therapist about all of this. ;D
DR TCB, have you contacted the divine Ms. Provine yet?
No, I haven't yet, MBarnum. Keep bugging me about it, because I really need to do that, but first I need to order a photo so I can have her sign it.
Good morning, one and all!
I have returned to the land of the living – I think. Wednesday night, when I got home from work, I had a craving for something to snack on, but couldn’t decide what I wanted. I finally grabbed some chips and some dip from the refrigerator and began to chow down. Apparently, the dip I grabbed was past its prime. So for the last 36 hours, I have spent most of my time either in the bathroom or under the covers
Yesterday I was at the upscale Whole Foods. Whenever I'm in the area I'm drawn to WF for its outrageously priced but delicious pecan and raisin bread.
I'm wallowing in nostalgia today. I mentioned I listened to Purlie yesterday. This morning I did listen to Romanovsky and Phillips (a gay duo from the 80s who sang very politcal and funny material)....
Tempest in a C cup!Funny!
I guess I am one of the few people who enjoys grocery shopping. I don't like long lines, but I am fairly patient so I just people watch or scan the tabloids.
When do you plan on publishing your biography?
Panni, I’ll say it again. I love your stories!
Jennifer did you watch “Friends” last night? After your experience yesterday I think you would have appreciated it. :D
Jennifer, you looked at the SilverDaddies Web site yesterday ;)
Ben thanks for answering Jennifer’s question for me. LOL-
Jennifer guess you weren’t as scared from the experience as you expected.
Keith and I really laughed during the Friends episode. The ending was hysterical. After the show I explained SilverDaddies to him.
I guess if Danny Devito had stripped down, I might have remembered quicker :)
The ending was funny. I really cannot remember laughing that hard. It was funny seeing Ross/Chandler/Rachel/Monica doing a flashback to when they were 18ish. Chandler's big hair was so bad. The only one who I think looked about right was Jennifer Aniston.
Anyhow between Joey's appearance on Pyramid. And them all figuring out that Ross' first kiss with Rachel was really a kiss with his sister monica ... well it was just too funny.
DR JRand, my package did arrive today, and I look forward to watching at the earliest possible opportunity and posting a full report here.
Jennifer, you looked at the SilverDaddies Web site yesterday
I was fine with FORREST GUMP until he started walking across America. Then, I thought it kind of fell apart.
Man, you could put your eye out with that thang!
TCB - go to your room and write one hundred times...I will be a good boy I will be a good boy.
And remember that there IS such a thing as an unexpressed thought!
BEST OF.............since some of us never got to read Column A .... Hurray!
George, according to OutMusic, R&P are still alive. They got an achievement award from OutMusic in 2003. Here is a link to the Web site.

I don't think they are currently performing together anymore but the music still exists and it still makes me laugh and think. Don't Use Your Penis For A Brain (woops, there I go again, I said the word Penis, in public - whip me, beat me, call me Helen)
First of all - yikes!!
Second of all - I should know better than to follow a link from HHW on my boss' computer! I hope they're not checking my history every day. I could get into serious trouble!
Third of all - yikes!!
And remember that there IS such a thing as an unexpressed thought!

In the CD player right now is The Sons of the Pioneers: The Essential Collection. I love those guys...
The Seattle Symphony's annual sojourn to the Washington Center will include Gerard Schwarz as conductor and Jane Eaglen, soprano. The evening will feature Busoni Selections from Turandot Suite, a Bright Sheng World Premiere, and Beethoven Symphony No. 3, Eroica. Ms. Eaglen will perform the Bright Sheng premiere, to be repeated later in the season when the symphony and Ms. Eaglen visit Carnegie Hall.
If he doesn't move his car I suggest you wear ear plugs tonight.
HHW would not be the delightful place it is if DR TCB left his thoughts in their unexpressed form!
Good evening one and all.
I stand before you, a fallen woman. Yes, it’s true. Even though I did not partake of the forbidden rice that was hiding in the bottom of my soup bowl or the forbidden cheese that was not low fat or the forbidden olive or the forbidden tomato that was part of my soup and salad combo at the Columbia Restaurant. I ate of the forbidden Cuban Bread (GASP!) today and await your well deserved chastising.
It was warm and it smelled soooo good. And the butter (I sinned big time) was soft and creamy looking. I couldn’t help myself. I ate it and what’s worse, I ENJOYED eating it. I would even go so far as to say I wolfed it down. Oh woe is me! How shall I redeem myself? I was so good all week long!
Take two pints of ice cream and call me in the morning.
Thank you DR Ann. And when, may I ask, is your recital CD going to be available??
Trust me, Jrand, I am a good boy
Sorry for those of you who went to that site not knowing what to expect. One of our newbies mentioned that that's how he'd found us. I found it a bit strange, personally, and I'm not sure what I think of the newbie or his motives.
Let us send speedy recovery vibes to TD's Dad, and good thought vibes to TD and all who are important to him.
DVD: Still alternating between episodes of the 4th season of the "Spopranos" and the first season of "Soap"You can tell the difference between the two shows, I hope?
Hey, DER BRUCER and Woods - did you try to write me a private note, and accidentally send it to Panni, instead of Penny? That's exactly what happened! But we are planning on making it to your show. (Or maybe Panni's show. Who's going to be in our area again? 8) ::))
td -- All my good wishes and vibes to you, your Dad, and your whole family.
Let us send speedy recovery vibes to TD's Dad, and good thought vibes to TD and all who are important to him.Indeed!
Excellent postings! I'm watching One From the Heart - I'll have plenty to say about it in Sunday's notes, but I'm afraid it's as bad as I remember it being. Sometimes time is kind to these late seventies early eighties films I didn't love, but for me, time has done nothing to erase what I felt then and feel even stronger now.
That's exactly what happened! But we are planning on making it to your show. (Or maybe Panni's show. Who's going to be in our area again? 8) ::))
My thanks for all the good wishes sent to der Brucer and myself. We're over the hard part of moving, fortunately. Now all we have to do is sort out what we've got, and find places for everything.
Today was Waitangi Day in New Zealand. DR Tom, what is that?
what a joy. . .a mighty joy* that would be. . .You're apologizing to my mother?
apologies to Mrs. Katz, of course. ;)
Whatever it was, it sure does sound like what I need.
And when was the last time you waited for your tangi, td?
Good to know I am not alone with my views on "Gump" but has anyone else bothered with "Big Fish". It was certainly one that I wish had "got away".
Ooohhh... that's spooky, TCB?!?!? Were you ever stationed in the Philippines? ;-)
