Bells are tolling and no one is posting. And can someone tell me why so many people of the current generation spell no one as "noone"? It is to wonder, but it happens so frequently that I have to wonder what they're teaching in school these days.

I would think that people nowadays spell "no one" as "noone" because it's one less character that they have to type out when sending at text message. That's just a guess. :-\

Hey, Ginny, if you do end up on the East Side, when you take the subway to Grand Central, you don't take the L train after you get off the 4, 5 or 6, you take the Shuttle. Jose mentioned the L train in his response yesterday but the L train in Manhattan only runs from 8th Avenue and 14th Street in Manhattan to 1st Avenue and 14th Street and then it goes into Brooklyn. You would need to go from the Lexington line to the S or Shuttle which will bring you from Grand Central to 7th Avenue and 42nd Street, unless, of course, you choose to walk from Grand Central to Times Square.

Good morning, all! My back is giving me a great deal of discomfort, and I believe I will call my doctor for an appointment. I figure this will do one of two things:
1. cause the back to clear up by the tme I get in to see him
2. get me a referral to a specialist
Poor DR MBarnum called me last night, and I raged at him more than usual bcause I am quite uncomfortable and irritable, which I believe comes through loud and clear in my post to DR Ginny about the East Side apartment. I have to walk over to the post office shortly to mail my estimated taxes, and I hope the 2-block hobble will not do me in for the rest of the morning.
I felt the same way about the MEDIUM episode as I did last week's GHOST WHISPERER: sometimes interesting recurrent characters should encouraged to do return visits and I hope MEDIUM will keep the agent on return mode. I do fear, with Joe's new business partner, that the show will be turning into AS THE GHOST TURNS and what could be an interesting business development will instead become a soap opera triangle. One of the things I love about the show is its family dynamic, and the financial complications of tooth loss was very funny and reminded me of several of my godchildren.
TOD: Cincinnati's Maisonette. a wonderful French restaurant, which was the source for lunch on one of the Miami University Theatre costume crew's shopping treks around 1968. I think there were about six of us and the theatre's costumer. I remember that the gentlemen were reminded to bring a coat and tie, that the luncheon was absolutely glorious, and that I have no idea of anything but fruits de mer for an appetizer.

The first restaurant meal that I have strong positive memories of was at the Painted Horse in Florida, so much so that i wanted to go back there the next time years later that I was in the area, only to hear that that particular convenient location was no longer in existence. So it remains a one-time great memory of childhood, great decor, great food, great company of family - and no later visit to bring the great memory crashing to reality.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I let myself sleep in a bit this morning. Well, at least past 6:00am which was when I originally woke up... Then 7:00... 7:21... 8:00... and then finally at 8:30 I put my feet on the floor, and that put an end to my self-induced(?) snooze mode.

*And my back is still a bit "fussy" too, but it's definitely much better than two days ago. -Maybe it was those seats at Lincoln Square? Strangely enough, the seating at the movie theatre last night where I saw "Smart People" had great seats. It was one of those stadium type deals - tall backs, but they don't recline, so my back was nice and supported throughout the movie. And when I stood up, I could tell things were starting to align properly again. Hmm... Maybe I should see another movie today? $11.75 is much, much cheaper than a doctor's visit. ;)

RE: MEDIUM (no spoilers).
I really liked last night's show. One interesting thing the show does a lot is bring back characters we have seen before.
Btw, I meant to mention a while back that i had read a good bit of one of the books by the real Allison Dubois.
She also has a husband named joe with the same occupation. And 3 kids (same names).
The one part i found that was quite different than the show (the real one did work on legal cases too) was that the real one does a lot of readings for people.
I guess the show decided to only focus on one aspect.
But I did find it interesting how the real bridget would come running out of the house when real Allison would come home from the grocery store asking for the lollipop mommy brought her! (that she wasn't supposed to know about).
One other thing real Allison does a lot is get feelings about the future. A good friend of hers died. And she knew it from a very early age. They don't really play into this aspect either.

Hmm... Isn't every meal memorable and special somehow? ;)
I do remember some really nice Chinese place by Tysons Corner in Virginia. We had gone there for a some sort of party for one of my cousins. The decor was much nicer than most of the Chinese restaurants we had gone to before, and the waiter service was semi-formal. I seem to remember a lot of table-side preparations: sizzling rice dishes, Peking Duck carved tableside, etc. -I was only 12 or 13 at the time, so, who knows, it could have been some really mediocre food, but it sure "felt" good.
Otherwise, the only other dining experiences that come to mind are two from a visit to Disneyworld: The Brown Derby at Disney-MGM Studios (this was before their "downgrade"), and Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian. I can't remember exact food choices, but I know that both Steve and I could not believe how good the food was at the Brown Derby - and the pianist even played "Deep Purple" for us. As for Victoria & Albert, I splurged on the chef's table seating, so we got out our private table in the kitchen. Truly one of the most delicious, well-presented, and well-served meals I've ever had. -And in Disneyworld?!?!?

The post office is a mess and of course there's only one automated postal machine and everyone using it ahead of me had never used one before so the wait was ridiculous. Every post office needs one window designated "Know nothing? Complete Moron? This window only" and then those of us who arrive prepared and knowing exactly what we need won't have to wait in line forever.

At my local branch up here in West Harlem/Morningside Heights, it's like every window is labeled "Know nothing? Complete Moron? This window only". :-\ -Which is why I will usually set aside some extra time to get down to Columbus Circle or Penn Station to take care of my postal business.

Jose - Agree about the Brown Derby at Disney world, also circa 1993-94 or so. Also Disney World's California Grill at the Contemporary Hotel was simply amazing in all respects, and a repeat visit did not disappoint. Never been to the Grand Floridian, but hope to someday.

I can remember as a young child (probably around 7 or 8) going to a seafood restaurant in Myrtle Beach and being allowed to order a seafood platter (adult size). When it arrived, Mrs. Willie Duke (mother of astronaut Charles Duke; the Dukes and my family are cousins) told me laughingly that I'd never eat even half of the platter. How surprised they were some fifteen minutes later that my bottomless stomach once again didn't let me down. To her (and others') amazement, I had finished the entire plate plus sides of cole slaw and fries.
To this day, I think that's the best seafood I've ever eaten.

DR Matt H, you were in one of my dreams last night! I can't remember well any of them last night but there were quite a few because I slept so poorly. I kept waking up and trying to turn to a more comfortable position. I remember that the Macbeths figured in one in which I refused to speak to them, and this is clearly a concern I've got about my next trek to Ohio. There were several involving friends and acquaintances, but it's all too vague now.

Not for me! I had planned on filing an extension. I knew that some folks in areas hit by tornadoes had a one month grace period, but I thought you had to prove that you've had damage to your home or office. It turns out that since my county was declared a disaster area by the president, I don't have to do anything until May 19th. So I may be able to file by the deadline after all!
We have gotten behind on our taxes the last few years. We always pay more than what is due, but still, it will feel good to get back on schedule.

I had just the reverse experience when I was 12 or 13 years old. My parents would take us to the Family Fish House every Friday night for dinner during Lent. I loved their hush puppies - we all loved their hush puppies. Well, I remember trying a fried oyster on a previous visit, and decided to go ahead and get a full platter of them for my dinner that night, instead of the usual fish and chips combo.
This night it was particularly crowded and the kitchen was quite backed up getting the food out to the tables, so the waitress kept bringing out baskets and baskets of hush puppies to keep us satisfied until the food arrived. Of course, once the food arrived - with even more hush puppies on the platter! - I think I could only eat one or two of the oysters. But, boy, were those hush puppies good!

TOD: Our family never went to fancy restaurants; it wasn't in the budget. However, when I was in high school, my father had a meeting in St. Petersburg, and my mom decided that we would go to a restaurant in Clearwater called "The Kapok Tree". It was the most spectacular, amazing place I'd ever seen. I can't remember much about the food because the place was so visually overwhelming. It was a real event to go there.
While you were waiting for your table, you could walk around the immense gardens full of statuary. I really can't do it justice, but here's someone's tribute site with a lot of pictures:

I cannot remember the name of the restaurant, but it was located in San Francisco in the 1980s. It had a piano bar on one side, a restaurant in the middle, and a Mexican restaurant on the other side, all bearing the same name. During the property "appreciation" of the mid-1980s, the landlord hiked the rent so high, both restaurants closed, but the bar remained open. The restaurants sat empty for more than a decade!
That bitterness out of the way, let me say that the meal was preceded by the largest, most wonderful Margarita I've had the pleasure of consuming!
My meal began with a very nice house green salad with a dressing unique to the chef. It was very tasty.
The meal was a Tournedos of beef that was about 2 inches thick and cooked to medium rare perfection. It was placed upon a piece of toast and was topped with a goose liver paté.
It was absolutely the most wonderful thing I'd ever tasted in my life.
I've had wonderful foods all my life, but this "meal" was most memorable and the earliest I can remember being so.

I was very tired last e'en and did not watch any of "my" regular shows, committing them to the DVR cache instead. I was in bed by 9:30 p.m.
That said, I did, earlier in the evening, watch things already on the DVR cache, including Sunday night's "Desperate Housewives" and "Eli Stone."
"Desperate Housewives/Eli Stone" SPOILAGE
"Desperate Housewives" has never lived up to its wicked promise of sheer bitchery among its stars, but it has been entertaining nevertheless, and I welcomed this new episode very much. I wish I had a feeling that Nathan Fillion was going to be used more often, but I fear that isn't going to be the case. We don't even see Andrew any more, but that might be because Bree and family are still living with Susan. I very much enjoyed Lynette's desire to find "meaning" by going with Lynette to her church, and the ensuing fun of Lynette's unorthodox approach to the pastor's sermon. I don't want to see Lynette become a sudden "convert" and holy roller, but you just never know any more.
"Eli Stone" is one of those shows that always takes me by surprise. I say this because I'm never quite sure I want to watch it, but every time I do I find myself totally immersed in whatever is going on and find myself thoroughly enjoying it. I feel that way about "Grey's Anatomy", too. I never "want" to watch it, but I always enjoy it when I do.
Sunday's episode had me feeling a bit sad for Eli because no matter how many times anyone "predicts" earthquakes in San Francisco, the fact is that "yes", there will be one some day, but "no", they cannot be predicted and it's impossible for any government entity (city, county, state, federal) to react upon a "prediction." In today's news, I learned that a group of scientists have predicted that California will have a major earthquake in the next 30 years. Well...DUH!
I very much loved it that the head of the law firm revealed his admiration for Stone in the board meeting and told each of the partners why they, too, should embrace him and his causes. Katy Sagal's total bitch of a character is a wondrous thing to behold! I found the show quite emotionally involving this week because of the realistic reactions of various people to Eli's "living will" preparations and that incredible finale where the fiction of story telling took me out of reality. It's nice to see writers take a leap beyond reality, and it was spot-on, IMO.

Do you recall that Barton had a serious accident during the shooting of this series? I think it was either during the first season or just before the season started. He reportedly suffered burns over much of his upper body. Matthew Star, the character, was always seen in longsleeved shirts, even when co-performers wore short sleeves or tank tops.

I've done both, but I haven't considered it since 1999 when the problem was too neurologic to be solved by either method and surgery was required. And six weeks of physical therapy and hand therapy because of the damage.

I'm glad somebody knows of a good place to eat in Cincinnati. Der Brucer and I visited the city several years back, for a political gathering, and not once did we have a decent meal while we were there. We even (somehow) managed to get a vastly inferior version of five-way chili. :P

I'm the same way when it comes to my taxes and Christmas shopping. I actually have all the paperwork organized, and have done the initial computations, I just won't fill out the forms until sometime later this afternoon. Thankfully, my 1099 income last year was greatly out-balanced by my W-2 income, so I'm basically breaking even. -And then I can drop off my return in the mail on the way to Carnegie Hall this afternoon.
-Yes, the IRS forms can get quite thorny, but since I don't have any "questionable" expenses, filling out the forms has always been easy for me.

I was surprised this year with my smallest amount being owed to the fed, and by getting money back from the state.

On the weekend that Dad took us all to see the roadshows of Sound of Music and Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines of How I Flew From London to Paris in 25 Hours 11 Minutes, our dinner on the first night was at a wonderful Japanese restaurant in the Hollywood Hills. Yes, we all had to take our shoes off. Yes, we sat at very low tables on pillows on mats. And we had sukiyaki. It was delish.

We did this with "Cinderella" here due to budget constraints (they barely had enough money to pay me), and it worked splendidly. In fact one reviewer took us to task for not crediting the "offstage orchestra." :)

Every summer, during Dad's forced vacation, he would cheat and take up north, towards Beale Air Force Base. More specifically, we would usually go camping near Marysville for a few days during his vacation, so that he could check on how the test pilots were doing. Either that, or (if he was feeling rich) we would get to stay at a motel in the area.
The upside was that, at least once during those few days, we would all go to this marvelous Basque restaurant, and we would have marvelous Basque food.
All I can really remember is the soup, the sort that the chef would keep building in a pot on the stove every night. It was thick and rich and exactly right.

I have 2 favs: kristi and marissa.
I think kristi is just incredible. Every dance she has done has been beautiful. But i did not really know her personality before. I think she seems absolutely lovely.
I think marissa has it harder than the other women because she is so short and her legs seem very short (and quite thick). But she has such energy. And i love watching her. I really hope that she does not go.

The first time der Brucer and I hit NYC together, we had tix to see Forum in revival (by that time with David Alan Grier). Before, der B insisted that we head to the village for dinner, and by chance we were able to get a table at Po (http://www.porestaurant.com/main/), as walk-ins. It's a tiny place, and usually crammed with reserved tables, so it was a real chance that we were able to get in.
The meal was marvelous. Batali was experimenting with grains that night, not what one usually thinks of for an Italian restaurant. But one dish involved bulgar wheat, and there was a totally different grain involved with the main course. And it was amazing food.
Batali shortly after that moved on to Babbo, and then multiplied like a rabbit to the point that he isn't even in NYC all the time any more. And the new owners of Po have added a second outpost, in Brooklyn. And yes, if the opportunity came up, I'd gladly return.

Well, he starts tonight, and, from what I understand, it should be quite an exciting - maybe even unpredictable - evening in theatre. It will be interesting to see how some of the die-hard ACL fans - myself included - react to his performance. I think I'm seeing it on Thursday night, so, I should be able to gauge it for myself.

I've read it! It's a very good read, filled with lots of interesting stories and lore, and some good recipes, too. It's much more than a cookbook - it's the history of the city, and of the immigrants who arrived there.

I spent the morning trying to catch up on a lot of little things on my to-do list that have fallen through the cracks repeatedly. That's right, I'm still trying to take care of things I intended to do a few weeks ago.

The restaurant that comes to mind for me is one that our LA DRs may recall: Zito's Italian restaurant on Pico Blvd, a couple blocks from Westwood Blvd. Not only did I love their spaghetti, they served a really tangy salad dressing that makes my mouth water right now as I write this! Lots of vinegar! Don't know if the restaurant is still there.

We ate at Trader Vic's in Palo Alto for Valentine's Day this year. The service sucked big time, but the cocktail was lovely. The food was just ok.

Oh, how I miss Farrell's! When we lived in Seattle, we would go to Farrell's regularly. I loved all of that noise! -And the ice cream, of course. When we moved to DC, there was a Farrell's in Tysons Corner, and it was a common place for my friends and family to go and hang out. -And eat ice cream, of course. Alas, they started adopting "quiet hours" which sort of spoiled the whole experience. But when it wasn't "quiet", it was still quite a fun time. And the number of "birthdays" - real and otherwise - my brothers and I would have there over the years just so that we could be the focus of all the bells and whistles and drum-beating and sirens... :)
If the group was large enough, we would order a Zoo to split. The one thing I semi-regret was not ordering - and finishing - a Pig's Trough. And I was also very fond of their Green River fountain drink.

I <heart> Pó. -And after Batali's departure, they still serve some excellent food at some surprisingly reasonable prices. It's also just a few doors down from one of my favorite places in the Village, Cornelia Street Cafe (http://www.corneliastreetcafe.com/). A cool, little funky place with a nicely varied menu, and they have a small performance space downstairs where they host all sorts of music groups as well as poetry and book readings. And a great weekend brunch to boot! And then across the street there's Pearl Oyster bar (http://www.pearloysterbar.com/), home of one of the best, if not The Best, lobster roll in the city. -Which has led to a few spin-offs and lawsuits in the past year or so.

I cannot imagine dining anywhere on Valentine's Day, and getting good service. It's just not gonna happen - testy customers, swamped kitchens, too much for any server to handle. If anything, if I were to go out for dinner on that day with der B, it would be so we could sit back and laugh and laugh at all the unhappy people.
Which is why we, instead, dine in on Valentine's Day. We're too nice to follow the other plan. ::)

I spent some time discussing the situation with elmore, and we agreed that the least offensive course of action was to have piano, drums, and reed - that that will at least keep some of the flavor of his orchestration. It's certainly not optimal, but prerecording at this point isn't an option.
I've sent e-mails about the instrumentation and I've also asked for all finger pointing to stop - they're upset with me for going to the Festival to vent my frustration, and I certainly was upset about the entire situation, but now it's time to just get it done.

We went once or twice to the one in Washington, DC. All I remember is their famous Coconut Shrimp and the fancy glasses/canisters/vases for the fancy adult drinks. I seem to remember there being two Trader Vic's locations in DC, or that it moved to a new location. But I think at this time, there is no longer a TV in DC. -And according to their website, that seems to be the case. The restaurant in the Capital Hilton is now Twigs, not TV's.

Well, the Jet Blue sale fares - which end tomorow - are/were too good to resist. I was going to try to get out there the week before, but after checking my calendar, I realized I had a few work days scheduled. I had toyed with still going that week, but I wasn't looking forward to the prospect of coming back to NYC on a Sunday, and then having to play auditions that Monday and Tuesday jetlagged.

My Son Craig went to Ithaca College in,believe it or not,Ithaca ,New York. There was(I don't know if it exists anymore) A ***** Restaurant Called L'AUBERGE DU COCHON ROUGE,where I had the best meal that I have ever experienced, It was a Lobster Dish(not Newburg)in a Brandy type sauce put back in the Shell-Fresh Vegetables and Potato Puff. Great Wine and Chocolate Souffle for Desert.Never Before and Never Again did I experiece A Meal Like that Evening.

TOD: Our family never went to fancy restaurants; it wasn't in the budget. However, when I was in high school, my father had a meeting in St. Petersburg, and my mom decided that we would go to a restaurant in Clearwater called "The Kapok Tree". It was the most spectacular, amazing place I'd ever seen. I can't remember much about the food because the place was so visually overwhelming. It was a real event to go there.
While you were waiting for your table, you could walk around the immense gardens full of statuary. I really can't do it justice, but here's someone's tribute site with a lot of pictures:

I have not been there, but it reminds me of a restaurant near Santa Barbara called The Ranch House. There were two sittings only, the tables were in an herb garden, and guests were encouraged to stroll through the garden between courses. Very nice. I don't know if it's still there.

As second-choice as it is, have you considered a pre-record for the instrumental tracks?
I have done two shows with prerecorded "click" tracks. (I think they called them Digitracks.) Anyway, I loved it. I always knew exactly the tempos and pacing for songs and lines during songs; always reliable and never any surprises.
Several actors in the shows hated doing the shows to tracks, but I loved it. I felt very secure with it.

When I read the summary of last night rerun of THE CLOSER (at 11 p.m.), I didn't recognize the episode at all so I recorded it and watched it today while fixing and eating lunch. It was a season one episode, the one that introduced the character of Dennis Dutton (Douglas Sills) to the show. Although I remembered immediately who the murderer was, I still watched the episode since the other Dutton brother was a gay character who came on strongly to Detective Sanchez, and so I enjoyed seeing it again in HD. (Of course, I have the first season DVD set, but it's not anamorphic.)

Next I watched Sunday night's episode of THE TUDORS. Oh, Elizabeth was born! What a disappointment for King Henry! Little did he know!

The spent the rest of the afternoon watching all six episodes from season one of THE BIG GAY SKETCH SHOW.
Like all sketch shows, the skits vary in quality and amusement value. But on three different episodes, they took a sitcom and "gayed" it up: THE FACTS OF LIFE, ALL IN THE FAMILY, and THE HONEYMOONERS. All were funny, but ALL IN THE FAMILY was my favorite. Also, one of the guys did a hilarious drag parody of Charlotte Rae on THE FACTS OF LIFE that had me in stitches.

But the funniest skit in the entire first season was a take-off on Elaine Stritch as a Wal-Mart greeter. You have to know AT LIBERTY and the COMPANY recording session to get all the hilarious allusions, but it was fall down funny - five minutes of sheer hysteria. I haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time.

All of those episodes were on the first disc. The second disc is all bonus features, and I'll watch them when I go back down later this afternoon.

That was back in the early 1980s. Style guidelines fluctuate with common (mis)usage.

About 30 seconds later he asked "Where's my Mensa book?" It does! However, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumwater,_Washington):
Tumwater was founded next to the falls of the Deschutes River at the south end of Puget Sound as New Market in 1846 by a group of pioneers led by Michael Simmons, making it the first United States settlement on the Puget Sound as well as the first north of the Columbia river.
The name was changed to Tumwater borrowing from a Chinook Jargon phrase tumtum chuck meaning "waterfall" or "rapids" (literally "heartbeat water"). Tumwater was officially incorporated on November 12, 1875.
I'd also heard that Tumwater was short for "tumbling waters."

I suppose I was lucky, my family often ate at nice restaurants. I can’t remember the FIRST time I said this is the best meal I’ve ever had.
Dinner out with my family often meant eating later than usual, sometimes past my normal bedtime. The result was I would get a very bad stomach ache and not be able to eat at all.
My father began insisting I have a glass of milk and a snack at home before dressing for dinner. Dressing is an appropriate word, men in suits & women in their party dresses.

Just go to your "my eBay" page and your won items will be there, and one of the options is "Leave feedback." eBay will never contact you to leave feedback and few sellers will, either. It's been my experience that sellers usually want the buyers to leave feedback first, as that indicates receipt of and satisfaction with the item.

I'm back from Carnegie Hall. It was an interesting recital presentation. Baritone, Pianist and Dancer, "enhanced" by lighting and projections. When I first saw the program - Messiaen, Ferko and Barber - I knew it was going to be a more intellectual and meditative evening, and it certainly was. The focus of the evening was based around the ideas of monastic contemplation and isolation, and the music selected for the evening were embodiments of those themes. Well, it was most certainly a cohesive evening, unfortunately, having music that shares the same themes and even soundscapes made for a almost mono-chromatic evening. Additionally, the whole presentation was conceived as a whole, and the audience was asked (in the program) to hold the applause until the end of the program. The ovation was well-deserved, if not overly enthusiastic. It will be interesting to see what the mainstem reviewers will say about it.

There was also one technical snafu. Zankel Hall is a small auditorium, but it does have a wrap around balcony level - I was seated in the center balcony. As soon as the program started, I thought I could hear someone talking on their cellphone - well, more like hearing someone talk through a cellphone. My head - and others - turned around to see who was the culprit, but there was no one there. Well, the "voice" continued for a while, then I realized it was coordinated with the lighting and projections. Someone was calling cues! It turned out that the technical crew had left one of the headsets on the follow-spot "open". Thankfully, a gentleman in the row behind me - who I gathered was a director of some sort from his pre-concert conversation - got up and managed to mute the headset. -And he walked up to the house manager after the recital with the headset in hand. ;)

Hmm... I've been toying with ordering some groceries and semi-prepared foods through FreshDirect. They have a line of heat-and-eat entrees that have been "designed" by some restaurant chefs here in NYC. I was just looking at some of the Indian entrees from Tabla, and was sort of shocked to see the sky-high sodium levels for most of them. A few of them contained 75% of the recommended daily allowance. WOW! -Of course, now I'm wondering if the entrees in the restaurant are prepared with that much salt too. ???

I began my evening of viewing watching the bonus features disc on THE BIG GAY SKETCH SHOW. It's a very full disc of bonuses from extra skits deleted from the shows to cast interviews to some bonus internet content, bloopers, etc. Took me almost two hours to watch everything, almost as long as it took to watch the six episodes on the first disc.

NCIS had a good and bad episode tonight. The murder case was good and had a surprise murderer.
But the bad was REALLY bad, the ridiculous goth Abby losing all reason over protecting a dog who had viciously attacked McGee. I mean, she's sweet to love dogs so much, but I thought she ALSO loved McGee, too, and when he entered her lab all bloody and mauled, she hardly gave him a second thought once she met the dog. Not what I would call a friend. I was really, really disappointed in the writers making her so one-dimensional and single minded.

AMERICAN IDOL tonight:
The two Davids once again were the highlights of the show. I typically didn't like Jason Castro, still don't get his appeal in terms of talent. I thought all of the girls had problematic performances.
Carly's voice seemed weird tonight as if she were struggling to make it do something. There wasn't any mention of her being under the weather, but I was very unimpressed with her song tonight and fear this may be the end. Syesha also tried to trick up her rendition with all this melisma, but it was VERY off-pitch noodling around with notes and sounded REALLY horrible (and the tape editors used part of it in the wrap-up at the end of the hour. This may be a problem for her, too). I also didn't like Brooke much tonight.
So, Kristy Lee, despite some off pitch notes, actually had the strongest of the four female vocals, a BIG surprise (and the phrasing and sustain on her last notes were superb).
Bottom three: Carly (going home), Syesha, Brooke.

George, I always felt like you did, that the apostrophe didn't belong. Imagine how stunned I was when I first learned that some English teachers were saying it should be used! Then I saw how much deviation there was from one style manual to another. Sigh. At one company where I worked my technical editor and I put together our own style manual, as I felt we needed consistency and, if I was going to hold our writers to a standard, it was only fair to spell out what that standard was. And now, of course, we have the lose/loose, etc problems that were mentioned here. Oy!
My sympathies. And don't get me started on how many nonverbs are now used as verbs. I realize language must evolve, but, but...

Just go to your "my eBay" page and your won items will be there, and one of the options is "Leave feedback." eBay will never contact you to leave feedback and few sellers will, either. It's been my experience that sellers usually want the buyers to leave feedback first, as that indicates receipt of and satisfaction with the item.
Thanks, JMK. I use ebay so infrequently, and rarely win when I do, that I forgot how to leave feedback on my own.

I watched last night's SAMANTHA WHO? to see the sexy Timothy Olyphant and Barry Watson battle for Samantha. They are somewhat similar in facial looks, but I definitely know which one I'd take. At any rate, it was an OK episode.

My neighbor came to me tonight and apologized profusely, seems they not only accidentally opened my phone bill, they accidentally paid it too! LOL, I told them I have more bills if they'd like to pay them too
I wish I had neighbors like that!
In my neighborhood, when someone else opens your mail, it is intentional! (Lots of mail theft here.)

I ended my evening with tonight's BOSTON LEGAL. I liked the Shirley's father case. The bomb case and the woman suing Jerry couldn't have been less interesting.
Nice to see Daniel Hugh Kelly in a prime time show and away from the delusions of his daytime character.

Oh, Cillaliz, your lions reminded me of a pair of gargoyles at the base of some steps in a nearby neighborhood. When you walk past them, their eyes turn red and they growl. I suppose it's supposed to scare people, but the owners only succeeded in bringing more foot traffic by their house!

Lucky you, Cillaliz! I've had neighbors open my bills, but never pay them. In fact, my neighbors apparently pay at the last minute, which was when I received the bills. :( ;)

Apparently, yes. Louis said he just pays whatever bills come in the mail and it was there so he paid it. Pretty funny. At first they were so embarrassed they opened my mail they didn't want me to pay them back. I will though.
I've often suspected that some people pay bills without looking at them closely. (not me!!) I've had solicitations from charities designed to be bills, presumably hoping that this will happen.

I've been meaning to mention that ELI STONE did well in the ratings in its Sunday night slot after DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, equal to the ratings of the last new episode of BROTHERS & SISTERS before the strike.
I'm feeling slightly encouraged that ABC may give it another season.

Of all the TVs that I looked at (at Costco and Costco.com), this is the only one that had only one 1-star (negative) review on Amazon.com. All of the others had several...so it's practically a 5-star rating overall! Almost the exact same 1-star review is at epinions.com and was posted on the same day. But the 1-star review was mainly about Best Buy's customer service, not just about the TV crapping out.

Thanks. Costco has this in stock, but my sister's boyfriend went to Circuit City and they have the next generation of this model. It's about $300 more, but Fry's has this new edition for about the same price as Costco's earlier edition. I think we'll be planning a field trip for this weekend. :D

Back from a meal and a run-through. The run-through wasn't as good as the night before, but we got through it without too many snafus and tomorrow we'll go back to doing detail work as we're missing one of our leading players.
