Title: SPARKLE, NEELY, SPARKLE
Post by: bk on October 03, 2008, 12:04:42 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes finally had a shred of sparkle, and now it is time for you to post until the sparkling cows come home.

As promised, I'm going to give you dear readers the jump on the new Kritzerland limited edition title.  Even though they've pretty much guessed what it is over at the film music site, I'd like to keep this info here until the official announcement next week, probably not till the end of the week, depending on how fast my web gal gets it on the site.  You will not want to wait on this title.  It's limited to 1000 copies only, and I can already tell you that half of them are spoken for by online stores.  Given the composer and the rarity of what's on the CD, I'm hoping this will be a very quick sell out.  You'll notice that Scent Of Mystery is sold out and no longer available at Kritzerland.

So, I'm really excited to announce that it's two Elmer Bernstein scores - the first is his incidental music to the play Laurette.  Laurette was about the legendary actress Laurette Taylor, who was played by Judy Holliday.  The cast also included Patrick O'Neal and Joan Hackett, and was produced by Alan Pakula, and directed by Jose Quintero.  It closed out of town due to Miss Holiday's illness.  The score is wonderful and is very interesting - Mr. Bernstein was making a transition in his style, and Laurette is the first score I've heard where you notice it.  It very much looks forward to what he would do in To Kill A Mockingbird.  It's scored for a chamber ensemble and the themes are wonderful.  The second score is to a very obscure 80s film called Prince Jack, a film about the Kennedys.   Both are short scores - Laurette runs about eighteen minutes, and Prince Jack runs twelve - that's what he wrote for the film - twelve minutes of music.  The source material for Laurette wasn't in great shape, but the mastering guy did a pretty terrific job of fixing it up.  I'm still struggling with the price of the CD - given that none of this music has ever been available, I'm tempted to charge our usual $19.98, despite the brevity of the CD.  I've also toyed with the idea of charging $17.98, just as an acknowledgment that it's a shorter CD.  That said, I have a CD here, a Varese club title (from way back when) that was full price and which runs nineteen minutes!  Here's what I'll do though - no matter which price I end up charging, you dear readers will get it for $17.98.  So, if you want to lock in that price pre the official announcement (once it hits the site, the price is whatever the price is), simply do the usual and go to paypal and pay 17.98 plus 3.75 shipping directly to kritzerland at adelphia dot net.  Don't wait on this one.  :)

Topic of the Day:  no media in any media player because in the morning (7:30 in the freakin' mornin', to be exact), I have to be at my sister's house so that we can leave for Coquille, Oregon to visit our cousin!  That's too darned early for me!

Anyway, we're going to be gone until Monday, so I'll be incommunicado, until then...I'm assuming that I won't have computer access.  I found my camera, so I'll be able to post pictures when I get back.

Have a good weekend, all!! I'm off to bed. ;D

And BK, thanks for keeping the board alive!! :-*

TOD:

Der Brucer bought the DVD for Speed Racer, because he'd seen it at the local cheepo movie palace with the grandlads.  I watched fifteen, twenty minutes of it and had to turn it off.  Talk about a piece of cra... crud.  A total waste of Sarandon and Goodman's talents.  Bleh.

You can't. It's not something we can control. It might happen if the computer guys or JMK futz with the software but for now once you're in the board you can't see a list of who's on also. You just have to look at the avatars and the ones that are bright green are on line.

Well, Michael Shayne (AKA Norm DePloom) yesterday as Benjamin at 4:19pm I wrote this about that.

Now that you have someone working on the site, if you choose to, you could probably delete lots and lots and lots of our "members" mostly Russian or Eastern European bots that were able to register because we had no capture screen to keep them out. If you sort the Member List by post and go to Page 7 you see that from there to Page 685 all members listed have no posts. It's pretty easy to tell which are bots and fake members. They could be deleted freeing up room on the server (that stuff is stored just like the real member information). Since we now have the capture screen to slow down/prevent fake member registrations it might be worthwhile to go down to 185 members (the number of registered members who have actually made a post, including the new registrations today) instead of 20528 of which 20,343 have never posted and most likely never will.

Just my 2 Cents

I read DR SINGDAWN's post and immediately started sneezing.  Yes it IS allergy season.

DR VIXMOM I have seen both film versions, and I do like the Jack Benny version better, but it's still very black comedy either way you go.  I just don't find Nazis funny - and I think making them funny really diminishes what they did to the world...but there you go.

As for the Friday Media Check:

Classically speaking, I'm currently All Gilels, All the Time.  -Emil Gilels, that is: "Early Recordings", "Beethoven Sonatas", "Mozart Recordings".

Orchestra Baobab - "Made in Dakar"
Bill Evans - "Alone"
Randy Newman - "Harps and Angels"
Eva Cassidy - "Somewhere"
Brian Wilson - "That Lucky Old Sun"
Robin McKelle - "Modern Antique" - What a nice surprise this one was.  I had seen it featured at Virgin for the past few weeks, but since I didn't know who she was, well... The other day they were playing the album in the store, and since it was also on sale, well... :)  Great voice, great arrangements, great charts, and the big band jazz cover of Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" is sooooo cool!  8)

VERY VERY happy with the Kindle, by the way, but mainly as a book reader.  Don't necessarily recommend it for the extras, such as web browsing.

I love it as a book reader, also!  I had held off on getting one but I've been so glad that I finally took the plunge and got myself one.

But the web browser has come in handy many times for me (especially during a few nighttime blackouts my neighborhood experienced during the summer.)

I probably will watch the extras on Daredevil Director's cut. It is a better film, I didn't like the version that played the theaters. All action no character development.

The director's cut makes for a much better film. I don't have the Blu-ray yet (Fox wants too much money for their catalog titles), but when it comes up in some kind of sales venue, I'll likely replace my DVD which I bought it a cutout bin for $4.

VHS - The Leather Boys with Colin Campbell, Rita Tushingham, and Dudley Sutton

I've had the DVD on my to-watch shelf for years. I first saw the film on VHS and really enjoyed it, but for some reason I have never gotten around to watching the DVD. Some day perhaps. . . .

I had to review the Daredevil Director's Cut as part of a massive Marvel boxed set that came out a few months ago.  I found it the most turgid of the films included in the set.  Ben Affleck in red vinyl just doesn't do it for me, sorry.

I forgot to mention PROJECT RUNWAY last night in my summation of the evening viewing.

I certainly thought the winner's design deserved it, even if there was too much billowing of the layers in the front. By far the most interesting dress, and I'll be very shock if this contestant doesn't show at Bryant Park.

I DESPISE Kenley with every fiber of my being. A snottier, more unaccommodating presence has never been on the show. And that design! It looked like the Little Mermaid on PJ. I cannot believe they didn't eliminate her.

DVDs:  toggling between Blu-Ray Grey's Anatomy 4 and the new boxed set of 8 Horatio Hornblower movies.  I also have been trying, after several aborted attempts. to finish Charlie Chan & The City in Darkness.

CDs:  re-recorded El Cid, which confirms that the lyric I have for the theme is indeed the "correct" version.  Also got a kind of strange/funny Japanese singer that Sergio Mendes and Dori Caymmi produced back in the 1980s, which has been "interesting" to listen to.

Glad to hear you're eating oatmeal. I've influenced you or else your nutrionist has  ;D

Once you get into the habit it's easy to include oatmeal in your diet, even when you want 2 eggs over easy, a side of bacon, whole wheat toast with butter and jam, home fries and coffe with half and half.

Ooops, sorry got carried away there with some memories.

I rarely watch this show but I caught the last half hour of this episode and Imust say that I'm surprise she has stuck around. Her behavior is infantile by any standard and the dress that I saw does not make me think she's a designer despite her repeated affirmations to the contrary. It just reinforces my belief that much of "reality" television is based on what the producers want, not on real talent. They must have some conflict so they keep a childish, whining contestant who is unable to take any criticism so she will provde a level of confrontation for the remaining episodes.

OFFICIAL MOONLIGHT DVD RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED

A couple weeks ago, we gave you obsessive Moonlight fans a "bite" of good news regarding the future release of the blood-sucking series' DVD.

Well, now we have an actual date to sink your teeth into. The complete series will be released Jan. 20, 2009, after the holiday season as earlier predicted. The four-disc set will contain all 16 episodes, but no details on what sort of bonus material will be included (if any) have been released.

Had a message from my pro guy and it was good news - I asked him to go in and see if he could fix four things, and he can - probably won't happen until late this evening, but these things will get done:

On the Daily Discussions board (the one you're on), as before, only I will be able to change the topic.  All other boards, anyone can, also as before.

Guests will not be able to view profiles.

As before, users on the daily discussions board will once again show at the top of the page

The Calendar button and birthdays will work, but that seems to have already been done.

I also sent his fix-it list to Mr. Bakalor, and if he feels comfortable making the changes, then they could happen sooner, but by late this evening those four things will be done.

If there's anything else let me know, and I probably won't inundate this guy with them immediately, but between Bakalor and JMK we might be able to fix them.  Don't post them here - send them to me in an e-mail.  Thanks!

To answer my own questions, I found the following in the HHW Community Forum:

Total Members: 20530
Latest Member: markbakalor
Your Personal Messages: 9 New: 0

Before you clicked on the correct letter of the alphabet to find a person's name.  Now is is easier to see the names & info, however, the larger print created pages & pages per letter.  It can take a long time to find a name.

We have way too many members who have never posted & I doubt will ever post.  I'm in favor of removing some of these.

In the "What Were They Thinking?" dept:

My mom's church sent her a flyer and a set of raffle tickets to sell for its upcoming Fall Bazaar.  The grand prize for the raffle is a MasterCard gift certificate in the amount of $6,660.00.

Mom was thinking of sending it to Jay Leno.  I'm betting that half the parish probably beat her to it.

I just came back from a lunchtime trip to Borders to buy my sister a birthday gift.  I picked up the latest GODFATHER release.  I'm pretty sure she never got the version that came out about five years ago.

Also, made a spontaneous purchase of the latest James Taylor CD, COVERS.  He does "Suzanne" on it, which is one of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs.

I've landed in NY safely, thanks to the vibes!

I'm waiting for the director to call me to give me the plans for this weekend. Looks like Saturday we will be busy all day, but don't know anything about the rest of the weekend yet.

Now I'm making friends with the kitty I'll be taking care of while i'm here. She's a Himilayan...I've never been around one of those before. I can't imagine taking care of that sort of downy cat fur on a daily basis. Must be a lot of work! She's a sweet kitty with a completely flat face.

Good morning, all! I got caught up in reading the new Stephen Schwartz book and got to bed after 1. I'm a bit draggy this morning.

DRvixmom, the Pepperidge Farm orange cranberry bread is divoon! I see there are several other new breads in this series as well, but it's great for breakfast with a bit of low-fat butter substitute.  I think li'l Mikey would like it as well.

Today, back to NYPL and some editorial work here, mostly on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA.

TOD:
   DVD:  In Bruges, several operas
CD:  Sarasate Carmen Fantasie, Offenbach's Christopher Columbus, Guy Haines, Delibes Sylvia
VCR:  short documentaries about military social customs

Elmore-

And How Is The Book...so far?

Not as in depth as I'd prefer, but certainly interesting. Poor photo reproductions, though.

TOD:

Videos (remember those?):  "Heaven Can Wait"  (the one from the 70's, the re-make of "Here Comes, Mr. Jordan").   Warren Beatty was hunky then; Julie Chrsite is as usual, luminous.  It's the supporting cast that really makes the movie (and Elaine May's script).  James Mason is brilliant and most effective at underplaying his role (as usual-- such command); Jack Warden is perfect; Buck Henry is Buck Henry.  Charles Grodin, and most especially Dyan Cannon steal the movie from the others (and I know her part was cut way down, but still.....)  Her scenes never fail to make me laugh.

"They All Laughed"  (it's not consistently right, IMHO), but Ben Gazarra is right; Audrey Hepburn is always perfect; John Ritter is a riot in that, but it's Colleen Camp who steals the whole thing.  And if there were any doubt that Peter Bogdonavich adored Dorothy Stratten, just watch the movie.  He presents her so well (the way Selznick did with Jennifer Jones, the way Harry Cohn did with Rita Hayworth and despite his dislike for her, even Kim Novak).  I have no idea how much talent Dorothy Stratten actually had, but you didn't care, because the director made her look good.

CD:  another typical Kerry compilation for the car that includes Diana Dors, Dolly Parton, Tony Perkins, Dame Edna, and so much more.  God only knows WHAT I was thing when I put that together.

I LOVE They All Laughed. I remember seeing it and falling in love with it. It's, IMHO, a wonderful depiction of love, both young and adult. Audrey Hepburn was gorgeous and marvelous. I saw some of it being filmed in the Village on 7th Avenue and 10th Street at a spot that no longer exists. At the time it was a New York version of a Honky Tonk bar. Now it's an upscale market called Gourmet Garage (with other locations around the city). I should find that movie and watch it again.

How wonderful to know this! I can't wait to have this superlative series, not to review but just to watch and rewatch with great pleasure.

There are new brief introductions for each episode by Eric Cartman (Trey Parker) and Cartman also presides over the main menu, greeting you when you come back to it or chastising you if you don't make a selection soon enough.

I just had a loverly phone call from our fearless leader BK, who had an interesting proposition which I believe I will agree to, and followed it with a tasty luncheon of tuna salad and lots of greens on 15-grain bread and a blueberry lite yogurt.

My drummer friend Chris Coluzzi and I will be seeing JOHNNY ON A SPOT and that should be fun since we will see our mutual friend Laura Daniel who played Sister Sourire in THE TRAGIC AND HORRIBLE LIFE OF THE SINGING NUN, for which Chris played the drums.

Thank you all for the vibes! Keep 'em coming. We were told the property sale of the land in front of my dad's house would occur in 4-6 weeks after returning our notarized agreements, and we're heading into 7 weeks now. We need to close the sale before next Thursday since Randy, who has power of attorney to sign for my third interest, and Jo go on vacation for a week. I'd like to see that check before the end of October since I've got Thanksgiving flight tickets to buy, as well as paying off a few loans from kind friends.

How wonderful to know this! I can't wait to have this superlative series, not to review but just to watch and rewatch with great pleasure.

Before the series premiered, I watched them filming on location at a restaurant in Santa Monica (at some trendy place across from the Santa Monica Pier).  It has such a lovely title, and i was so disappointed when I actually saw an episode, but it is so typical of today's series.  But people I know think it's so edgy, but then they've missed the really good shows of the last 30 years that actually real writing.  And clever and smart witing at that!

To hear David Zucker tell it, making a Republican-friendly Hollywood film is like plotting a coup: You plan it in secret meetings, quietly recruit conservative actors, and launch before anybody realizes what’s happening.

“You sort of feel like you have to hide it,” says Zucker, director of the new film, “An American Carol,” which opened in theaters Friday. “When you meet, you give each other a secret look — ‘Are you a Republican too?’ It's the new gay.”

DR JMK, is the ONE TOUCH OF VENUS the one with Ava Gardner or is there some recorded stage production I don't know anything about?

It's the Gardner/Walker one, and it's pretty lamentable.  Have about 15 minutes yet to go.

BTW, I set the Quick Reply option to "show, but default to off" earlier today and when I returned a minute ago it was back to on.

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Madison Square Park...

We managed to fit in about 170 women this afternoon. -We had about 115 men this morning. All in all a very good day, and I even saw some people I hadn't seen in years -- which is always nice but also bittersweet since there's no real time to talk and catch up. And after we finished, I headed on down here.

*Alas, the Chocolate Candied Corn Frozen Custard was a bit "eh". It tasted like their regular chocolate frozen custard with some candy corn candies in it. But, it was still good frozen custard.  I just wish this featured flavor had been more "exciting" and unique.

Mark Bakalor made it thirty posts per page again, so that's good.  He also set it so that you have to log on to access the board, but that has now been turned off again - can someone please let me know that you can now read the board without being signed in?  And I believe he's fixed it so I'm the only one who can change the daily topic, so I'm going to check that out now.  So, the only thing left is for the pro guy to make it so we can see users at the top of the posting pages.

der Brucer, there area many posts yesterday about how to fix your avatar photo - can someone tell him please?  Also, until later, if you don't want guests to be able to see your e-mail address in your profile, simply go to your profile and you'll find some box to tick that will hide it from the general public.

You cannot see "personal" info other than e-mail addresses, and you can only see those if someone hasn't done that preference.  There is no other personal information, as far as I know.  Also, about 20,000 user accounts have been deleted.

I'm about ready to head out for the play. I think I will walk down 9yj Avenue until I reach the theatre at St Clements at 46th Street or become tired.

I had a tasty dinner of steamed veggies and chicken with brown rice and a little brown sauce from my fave Chinese place.  I'll take with me a half an apple and some almonds and walnuts, in case I need a bit of refreshment around 9:00.

The exciting news is that tomorrow morning we're meeting DR edisaurus at a coffee shop on 14th Street. I doubt I'll walk there.

As bk indicated, I can read the board again without logging in.

However, as DR Jane posted, I can also read profiles without logging in [email address is hidden, if so checked, but you can see the avatar, the gender, age, location, etc.]  Previously, I believe, you could not view a profile at all unless logged in as a registered member.  Personally, I think that in this case, the old way is better.

I think that last post of mine was a bit misleading - I love Young Frankenstein and the original The Producers and Silent Movie , High Anxiety amongst other Mel Brooks work but when he himself is the actor there is so much scenery chewing I have to look away

I have   had   have a poster  from the original TO BE OR NOT TO BE.  I rescued it from the half-sunken basement of an old deserted theater in Ellensburg, WA (Ann and Jed's hometown) back in the 60s.  The poster proclaims it as Carole Lombard's last film, so it may have been from a second release.

DR JMK - You mentioned that the Quick Reply "error" was an MSN thing, but then you said that it worked fine in IE.  Does that mean that MSN doesn't use IE - which is a Microsoft product - as it's built-in browser? ???

MSN uses IE, but it also has proprietary add-ons that do weird things from time to time.

Today is a work day.  Oh well.

TOD:

DVD - Perry Mason extras including interviews and screen tests, interesting.
CD - State Fair original soundtracks, still fun to listen to
VHS - The Leather Boys with Colin Campbell, Rita Tushingham, and Dudley Sutton

THE LEATHER BOYS is the first film that I remember Time Magazine referring to as "having homosexual undertones."

I am SHOCKED, I tell you!  Shocked!!!

WOW!?!?!?!?

They cancelled tonight's performance of Oklahoma at Papermill Playhouse due to a possible bomb found outside the Lincoln Tunnel.  Apparently, a suspicious looking bottle was found, thankfully, it was found to be harmless.  But since they had closed the tunnel from 4-7 - rush hour! - the actor's vans were not able to make it to Millburn for tonight's show.  -And there were two suspicious looking bottles found on Wednesday too.

OH!...

And I happened to pass an unintentionally humorous(?) situation while walking down 23rd Street earlier this evening-

They are showing the new movie, "Blindness", at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas.  On the sidewalk outside the theatre there were picketers.  Blind picketers.  Some had friends with them guiding them, others had their guide dogs with them.  Now, I wasn't able to grab a flyer to find out exactly why thy where picketing the movie, but some of the signs mentioned "stereotypes", "bad examples", etc.  Well...

Some people who were walking by, stopped to talk to some of the picketers.  Alas, the first question that would come out of their mouths was.. "So, have you seen..."  -Then they would stop asking that question once they realized how "funny" that question was.  :-\

*And after some Googling: Blind activists plan protest of movie 'Blindness' (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gOvWdPXukO9JfR9ixHz2ppMqzaAwD93HBDTO0)

Jose, I walked by the Protest as it was about to happen. I thought I might go to a movie and I decided to walk up to Chelsea Cinemas to see what was playing. Ghost Town isn't there, it's at the theatre on 19th and Broadway. There was nothing at CC I wanted to see but I saw and heard the protesters. One of the signs said "I'm not an actor"

I saw clips from the movie and it doesn't look like anything I would want to see.

So, Jose, as the weather gets chillier and chillier will you still try Shake Shack frozen custard and eat it outside? You should go to Saint Paul in January to the Winter Carnival. I remember years when it was 10 below but people were outside buying and eating the ice cream sold by the vendors. At least the ice cream didn't melt into runny rivulets down your hand.

The book was/is very good.  -And from what I've been able to find, the blindness factor in the book was not protested, in fact, it was praised as metaphor for a natural disaster, a true human catastrophe.  I understand whey they would protest the movie, but the blindness in the movie is something that happens suddenly and without warning - it's not congenital.  It also happens on a mass level.  So, just as with any sort of "epidemic", there are bound to be some problems that arise from the situation.  ???

-I'll stop now before I end up offending anyone (else).

Not really.  Since there are sooo many people afflicted with the blindness at once, they are basically "herded" into quarantine since the authorities are not prepared to deal with such a situation.  -And the authorities are also blinded too.  Like many of the reviewers stated, it can be related to the situation of the Hurricane Katrina refugees, or of the famines in Africa.

Tom, regarding the size of your avatar, the boat picture is not in the cache of photos in the Personalized Photo section. For some reason, no matter how it is sized, if a picture is used from a source other than the cache in the Profile section it is squeezed down to a small size so whatever you do to your boat it will be a dinghy, not a cruise ship  ;)

There are, however, some larger pictures of you in the cache if you wanted to go back to one of them. If you want to use one of the cache pictures, click on Profile at the top of the page, then click on Forum Profile Information. Click on Personalized Picture and then start scrolling. I looked through every photo in the cache. The larger versions of you are 1) Fagin (this one is close to the top of the list), TCB2, TCB3, TCB5, TCB58, Tom2a, Tom2Abw, Tom 03-06b edited.

Just scroll down and click on the pictures to see them and you can choose the one you like best. After you've chosen, click Change Profile at the bottom of the page and you should have a full size avatar again.

I loved Charles MacArthur's JOHNNY ON A SPOT, a very cynical comedy set in a southern governor's mansion on election day around 1942 and the attempts of the governor's secretary and PR man to keep the voters unaware that the alcoholic governor who's just been elected to the senate was just found dead in in the local whorehouse. The play is filled with cynical hustlers and political advisors, corrupt cops, a horny southern belle, the whorehouse's madam posing as a nurse over the corpse, venal politicians, and graft. It all seems quite timely as well as reminiscent of Huey long and ALL THE KING'S MEN. I laughed myself silly at a farce that predated Joe Orton for completely unsympathetic characters. DRs JRand58 and TCB and BK would love playing this outrageous comedy. The production was wonderful and the cast was excellent. My friend Laura played the horny southern belle and Margery Beddows, who was Gewn Verdon's standby in REDHEAD, was a blowsy Rubenesque madam. It was truly wonderful.

In the photo my friend Laura;s on the right end.

Had an enjoyable evening of viewing. I began by watching the last six episodes of THE CULT OF CARTMAN (SOUTH PARK). All were enjoyably amusing, but like anything else like this, you can overdose on a character in a set like this. He's certainly the funniest member of the SOUTH PARK troupe, but there's a reason he isn't featured in every single episode. It's too much of a good thing to always have the spotlight on him.

Took the kids to a restaurant for dinner, then to Office Depot for a big box o' paper and then to Border's for various and sundried items, and they behaved beautifully.  I'm wondering exactly whose kids these are, and where mine have gone.

Larry - Margery is the director of Milla's cabaret act, the one that is preserved on the Kritzerland Milla Ilieva CD.

She's quite wonderful.

Is she the one we saw in The Horrible and Tragic Life of the Singing Nun?

Next I watched tonight's GHOST WHISPERER. I was very disappointed in much of Jamie Kennedy's performance. He guest starred on some series I reviewed recently (CSI: NY?) and gave a very good performance, but he was very unfocused and bland tonight, and now he's going to be a regular!

The show was just OK tonight, not a great season premiere.

And I concluded my evening watching tonight's episode of LIFE. It's such a breezy, enjoyable show. Not a greatg mystery tonight, but the interplay between the characters keeps things entertaining even when the story isn't first rate.

I will ask her but I suspect not, she leaves for school at 6:45 AM and gets home after soccer practice and or games around 6 PM, then showers, eats and does homework

Soccer season is over ina couple of weeks and that should free her up a bit to read for pleasure again

She was desperate to have it for the plane ride to Canada when she had lots of time to read it, unfortunately it didn't  arrive until the day we got back, the same day as scoccer began

Since she goes to bed aroud 9 (she's exhausted by then ) she really has no free time between school, soccer andher other obligations -after soccer her load will lighten up and she'll get it read

I know she loved the first few chapters she was able to read before the heay duty homework kicked in

I gotta tell you.  I've chosen the selections for tomorrow's reading.  I've gotten three e-mails today from people who were definitely coming who are now definitely NOT coming.  This could be a VERY small group tomorrow.  I'm sort of annoyed - I asked so many people about this date before I booked it.  They all said it was preferable to the September date, which I now wish I'd done.  And then, suddenly, everyone was going to be out of town or suddenly had something else to do.  This is not just me - it's happened to a bunch of other authors, several of whom are much more well known than I.  Oh, well, it will be what it will be - nothing to be done about it, except to know that I, too, will suddenly be busy when I'm invited to certain events.  :)

OJ's looking at at least a minimum of 15 years on just the Kidnapping charge.  At his age and considering there are a total of 12 counts, looks to me like he'll be spending the rest of his life in prison, but he won't be sentenced until December

Darling Jose, we've had plenty of GUESTS since switching over to the new board - I've commented on the number several times.  And despite the little snarkism, I can tell you that more people read the notes than ever come to this board - I have the stats, you see, and I can only tell you, for whatever reason, the notes are read by a LOT of folks every single day.  My comment above was based on the fact that Bakalor, for a short time today, disabled everyone who wasn't signed in from reading the board - we fixed that pronto.

She  probably wrote this when everything seemed incommunicado.

Nope, she wrote it today.  She simply tried coming to the old board and had no idea of what's been going on because she doesn't read the notes.

I often begin with the discussions, catch up & then read the notes.  She may not have received your email regarding the situation, seen on Facebook the site was down & stopped looking.
