Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on the wild side, and now it is time for you to post until the wild cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SKEUOMORPH!

Hey, I'm first after BK - that hasn't happened in the morning in a long time, maybe ever?
-
Well, hardly ever, anyway

Good Morning All!
Good Night, All! (at least until the next morning about 2 hours from now) ??? :-\ :P :-[

I am at the Hibiscus Hotel in lovely Miami courtesy of FLYING DOWN TO RIO this morning on TCM.

The posts that DR CILLA LIZ made from her Blackberry have a little telephone icon next to the title of the NOTES on her posts.
Interesting. I guess if you post from a computer you have a piece of paper.
I have $2 extra to spend today!

Arrgh! I have a doctors appointment at 1:00 this afternoon and having bloodwork done at the same time. But I need to fast this entire morning. And I'm hungry!

Fast fast time for DR DtM

Oh....DR SINGDAW has a thumbs up sign.....new discoveries everyday here at HHW.
-
I can't take credit...DR Ben first discovered this option and pointed it out. :)
-
Good morning, all! I've been working on the proof of THE MOST HAPPY FELLA score, but today I have to make a walk down to Music Theatre International and pick up a new copy! I do hope this copyist won't be driving me wild with new editions every other month or so.
I also discoverec the hold up on the closing of the sale of the land in front of my dad's house: the City of Middletown. The checks are made, the company's ready to send everyone money, but my hometown city government hasn't accomplished yet what it needs to do to effect the closing. Oy!
Today on my agenda I've got the walk to MTI and a trip to the library at Lincoln Center. Beyond that, who knows?
DR ArnioldBrockman, I hear the ALLEGRO release is scheduled for Jan 2009.
-
......but my hometown city government hasn't accomplished yet what it needs to do to effect the closing. Oy!
...
Why am I not surprised. The streets are a mess with potholes, most of the storefronts on Central Avenue are vacant, and they no longer provide autumn leaf pick-up service. So much for the All-America City we knew and loved.

I need to fast this entire morning.
You're a day early! ;)

Arrgh! I have a doctors appointment at 1:00 this afternoon and having bloodwork done at the same time. But I need to fast this entire morning. And I'm hungry!
Oh, I'm so sorry, DR DtM! It's a shame they couldn't have given you an early appointment. Bet you can't even have coffee, huh?

Oh, I'm so sorry, DR DtM! It's a shame they couldn't have given you an early appointment. Bet you can't even have coffee, huh?
I'm not sure about coffee, DR Ginny, so I'm sticking to raspberry herbal tea.
I'm also chewing copious amounts of Trident. My xylitol levels are gonna be high.

Good morning!
More cool temperatures and more overcast skies. We didn't get any rain yesterday, and we may or may not today. Still, it's going to be a cool day all around.

On TV Tonight!
ABC - PUSHING DAISIES, PRIVATE PRACTICE, DIRTY SEXY MONEY
CBS - comedies, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: NY
NBC - KNIGHT RIDER, DEAL OR NO DEAL, LIPSTICK JUNGLE
FOX - BONES, 'TIL DEATH
BRAVO - PROJECT RUNWAY
-
Local voters can register at all locations of the library system for which I work. Monday was the last day to register for the November election - that day and the previous Saturday combined, our system took in 2,168 voter registrations and the week prior to that, 658.
-
I'll be working on Season 2, Volume 1 of THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM today. There are a fair number of bonus features, but I should be able to watch all the episodes this afternoon.
-
I actually have nothing but TV boxsets in my queue right now. In addition to SILVERMAN, I have LIL' BUSH, CSI, and NASH BRIDGES, all coming out next Tuesday. When the SLEEPING BEAUTY Blu-ray arrives (Disney admitted that screeners have been delayed; should be shipped out this week), that will make one movie in the midst of these Tv boxes.
-
I'll be recording BONES, CSI: NY, and PROJECT RUNWAY tonight and watching the first two later in the evening via the DVR. I will also be watching Sunday night's DEXTER while I cook and eat lunch today.
-
I though black coffee was allowed before fasting blood tests, but I'm now wondering...

Perhaps, but it's certainly not allowed before slowing blood tests.

He probably could have gotten an earlier appointment, but it might have been two months from now.

It's Wednesday here. What day is it where you are?
-
I managed to clear my DVR cache of last week's shows. I watched "Smallville" last night and was thoroughly entertained, if not altogether pleased by where the writers are taking us with Chloe.
-
I also watched the first three episodes of the continuing drama of "Peyton Place", the TV series that debuted in 1964.
It's interesting to see a very young, lovely and vibrant Mia Farrow as Allison McKenzie. The TV show rewrote the character of Norman to be the younger brother of Rodney Harrington. Chris Connelly and Ryan O'Neal played those parts, respectively. Barbara Parkins is Betty Anderson. Or should I have written "Barbara Parkins IS Betty Anderson"? Apart from being boy crazy, she is not the Betty Anderson of Metallious' tale. No, our Barbara will have redeeming values soon enough. I have the entire series on DVD-R. And I'm loving it.

I'm up, I'm up - a little earlier than I wanted to be, but such is the way of the wind. Speaking of wind, can someone PM FJL instructions on how to unsquish his photograph? Bruce: It's a "message icon" and you can change it to be a number of things. You must either be quoting someone or in "reply" mode (i.e., writin a non-Quick Reply post) or in "modify" mode -- look at the box above where you would type. That's where you see all your font options/function options/etc.. Look under "subject line" and you will see the "message icons".

I guess I'll head down now to check the mail and then think about what I'm fixing for lunch. I had originally planned to have lunch with my friend Hal today, but those plans got changed at the last minute. So, I'm eating in today.

Hey, FRED!
Go into your profile, select "Modify Profile" and then "Forum Profile Information". There you will find a cache of photos. Go to the photo you want and click on it. The photo should restore to its proper size. I did that and it resized my photo. I had to go through the procedure of saving by entering my password at the bottom of the "Account Related Settings" page.

I would but I have nothing to atone.

TOD:
I was listening to one of my compilation CD's and heard Tom Jones singing, "It's Not Unusual." We had won a demo 45 from some Top 40 station (very typical of the mid 60's and lovingly spoofed by the Carpenters on the long cut from "Yesterdays Once More"-- or whatever it was called-- LP).
The first time I heard, it was so catchy, I knew it would be a hit. It wasn't even on the charts then but was soon. "Downtown" by Petula Clark was the same way. (Well, almost anything by Tony Hatch).
What songs did you hear for the first time that you KNEW would make it? (Right or wrong--- Everybody participate.
I will admit that I was totally wrong about Herb Alpert becoming popular (but of course, I didn't realize that he was backed by the Mafia).
-
I just realized that I do NOT have next Monday off. In fact, I do not have another day off until Thanksgiving (and the day after.)
Oh, well--I do pretty much have the month of December off, so I guess I should kvetch.
-
Good morning, everyone.
It's a cool day here, but I like it.
-
Wow, so many questions for BK and others.
-
And where may I ask is tomovoz these days.
-
I'm having a bad "senstivity" today (since test have proven concusively I don't have allergies!!!). My right eye is burning and watering.
Thank goodness for my left eye.
FWIW, Ron, I DO have allergies and it's always my right eye that does the irritation and tearing bit. I have no idea why.
Do you irrigate your eyes with some sort of eye wash? Pollen can get in your eyes, even if you can't see it. Of course, how COULD you see it if your eyes are tearing?
-
I LOVE THE RAILWAY CHILDREN. I've seen the BBC version several times and loved it each time. I knew there was an earlier version and that Jenny Agutter was in it, so why didn't I look for a copy, like I usually do??? I put it in my Netflix queue this morning, only to find it listed as "Very Long Wait." My, our beloved BK's influence must be even greater than I thought; a mention of the flick in the Notes and suddenly everyone wants it.
-
Gotta go take care of some errands.
-
What songs did you hear for the first time that you KNEW would make it? (Right or wrong--- Everybody participate.
I always felt that I had such a quirky taste in music that I've often been surprised when something I liked right off became a hit. When I first heard things like k.d. lang's "Constant Craving" or Paul Simon's entire "Graceland" album or Amy Winehouse, I never believed that they would become so popular.
-
I just realized that I do NOT have next Monday off. In fact, I do not have another day off until Thanksgiving (and the day after.)
Oh, well--I do pretty much have the month of December off, so I guess I should kvetch.
I don't have Monday off either and I don't have a day off until the Thanksgiving holidays but like you, I will be away from work for the entire month of December. I'm counting the days.
-
And where may I ask is tomovoz these days.
Mr. Oz has been in Europe, that place where France is, visiting and doing touristy things.

I just checked NYTimes.com to see if there was any sort of correction or modification to the article that I mentioned last night, and, lo and behold, there was/is. There is no "correction" listed, however, the sentence about "Guys and Dolls" being cancelled has been excised from the article. Hmm.. ???

My question for BK:
Will we ever have the ability to use new avatars that aren't squished?
Evidently, you can only unsquish old, previously downloaded avatars. Anything new you want to use, whether you download them or link to them, are squished.
The avatar I am using is one I have out-aged, and would like to go back to my more current one (which I had never downloaded to the HHW, thus it is not in the cache).

I will admit that I was totally wrong about Herb Alpert becoming popular (but of course, I didn't realize that he was backed by the Mafia).
The first time I heard Elton John's "Benny and the Jets", I knew it was destined for the top of the charts. In fact, I felt that way about the entire "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album. It remains a favorite. I found the album in a record shop in Vicenza, Italy, where I was stationed at the AFRTS radio station (armed forces radio and television). I was in love with the entire album before we got any of the songs from AFRTS to play over the air. I kept telling a couple of the DJs that the song would be huge and they laughed at me (stick to the news desk, kid!). I had the last laugh.

Wednesday morning greetings! It's raining here in SW Ohio and would have been a perfect sleep-in morning. Alas, here I am at work, getting ready to host my second-to-last brownbag lunch.
Quite a few years ago, I worked with a woman who had one of those desktop calendars where you can write appointments on it and she had already started her day-by-day countdown to her retirement. When I first noticed it, it was at 531...530...529 days! She had been planning very early and even that far out was already VERY ready to retire! ;)

The calender "button" is built into the software. The link to the notes was not, in fact, a button - it was a hyperlink set up by the guy who designed the site with Bakalor. And you can click back to the board from the notes - that link has been fixed.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of "delay" involved with uploading and properly resizing the avatars. I just scrolled back through the list, and it looks like the one I uploaded for "UncleJojo" is appearing at full size now. So, maybe someone could upload an avatar and save the change to the their profile. Then go back to the profile settings, reselect the avatar and see what happens.
Hmm...

When I first noticed it, it was at 531...530...529 days! She had been planning very early and even that far out was already VERY ready to retire! ;)
People like that are not fun to have around the workplace. I'm trying my best to stay busy and engaged right up to December 19, which will be my actual last day in the building. Yes, my vacation requests were approved for the holiday weeks!
-
I am curious to see if the other levels besides "God" have been changed. We'll see as I go through the ranks, I guess. But it will tkae a long time before we get there.
-
Oh, I don't know - I like having a Hero Member. We can't have enough heroes, these days. And all our haineshisway.com family are both heroes and members.
-
For the last five weeks, the Pool Man has been here by eleven. Not today. And I can't leave until he gets here because I must speak to him and make sure he does whatever he needs to do to fix the cloudy and murky water.
-
Hero Member is, of course, the title of my new pornographic novel.
-
I wonder if it might work if you upload your new avatar photo to the old HHW site. Could you maybe then make use of it in the new HHW site "unsquished"?
It doesn't work. I just tried and I got an error message: Failure in submission of form. Session timeout.
-
Very light turnout for today's brownbag lunch. The speaker, a local attorney, did a great job talking about LINC Ohio: Legal Information for Nonprofit Corporations (http://www.lincohio.org). Even though the audience was small, they asked great questions. Now my co-workers are enjoying leftover cookies and chocolate.

Songs I knew would be hits (I was wrong) department:
Both of these with a semi-Herb Alpert connection, since they are both by Sergio Mendes.
Sergio's first album with the revamped group Brasil '77 contained the gorgeous Paul Williams song "Gone Forever," featuring a sensuous vocal by Karen Philipp and a stunning Dave Grusin orchestration. It had Top 40 or at least AOR hit written all over it. It tanked.
Two years later, after Sergio left A&M for Bell Records, his first album there contained the great funky Lambert/Potter tune "Love Music," with great vocals by Bonnie Bowden and Mrs. Mendes, Gracinha Leporace, and a smokin', brass filled arrangement by Tom Scott. It wasn't quite the bomb "Gone Forever" was, since it charted on AC and "bubbled under" on the Pop charts, but it really should have been a major smash that spring and summer of 1973.

I thought we couldn't get to the old site anymore.

I can't answer this question - can anyone else - seems like there must be a way for that to work. If not, I'll post the question on the software board.
Hmm...
Well...I created a test avatar and selected the "I will upload my own picture" button and uploaded it, but it doesn't show up (yet?) in the big list of Personalized Pictures. I'll check back later to see if it eventually does. I specifically resized it to 110x150 pixels, the old board's avatar size.
-
I wonder if it might work if you upload your new avatar photo to the old HHW site. Could you maybe then make use of it in the new HHW site "unsquished"?
I tried that, but it will not allow you to tinker with your old profile.
-
If I had a pool man I would never leave until he was finished working.
-
I checked to see if the avatar I uploaded to HHW on the first or second day of the switch took, and it is not in the cache.
-
DR MattH - The "boys" are on "As The World Turns" today. ;)
I saw them! And they had a nice little kiss. I'm sure Wheatley would like to get in on that but dare not.
-
We did get rain, or rather, we are getting rain. It's been a slow, steady drizzle for most of the afternoon.

I began my viewing with Sunday night's DEXTER. Good episode. Very surprising turn of events for Dexter and the Jimmy Smits character. Wow!
-
Back from lunch....salad w/bleu cheese dressing, blackened chicken breast, rice, steamed veggies.
Iced tea.
Good company!
-
Then, I watched all six episodes of THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM - Season 2, Vol. 1. They're only 21 minutes apiece. A really wacky series but definitely some fall down funny moments. In one, she is complaining about discrimination against Jews, and a black waiter overhears her and chastises her for not knowing what real discrimination is. So, she goes to her friend who's an expert make-up artist to make her black for a day so she can experience true prejudice. He makes her up and she emerges as -- a female Al Jolson lookalike with a circle of black on her face and clown white lips. Of course, she gets beaten and chased and goes back to the waiter and agrees that blacks have it far worse than Jews.
I was rolling in the floor laughing.

In today's mail:
DVD for "Joan of Arc", Ingrid Bergman-José Ferrer version.
-
There was a guy at the Hollywood Collector's Show, a dealer, who said he'd do better than Amoeba if I wanted to sell him used CDs and DVDs - he didn't quite, but it was worthwhile so I did it.
-
All but one of the episodes had commentaries, so I sampled each of them, too. There is a second disc of just bonus features. I'll do those tonight.
-
I think it's time to go eat some lunch. I may go over to the Studio City Cafe and get a sandwich or have some eggs, and start working on fitting in the new number into the sequence where it's going.
-
And then I watched AS THE WORLD TURNS. As I mentioned previously (and so did Jose), the boys were on, and it was nice to see them even if the story progressed not a hair from where they were two months ago.
They were not in the previews for tomorrow.

I just ate a delicious banana.
-
My boss just arrived to work.
And it's only 2:25 p.m.
I have to wonder...why bother???!!
-
My boss just placed a Mrs. Fields catalog under my nose and asked if I wanted to see it.
I said "Yes"...just to be polite.
;)
-
I received notice that my DVD of the latest Indiana Jones film has shipped via DHL. That means that instead of getting it on Thursday, it won't arrive until Friday.
-
I wonder what our one guest is thinking while reading these posts?
Does he or she wish he or she had this Mrs. Fields catalog to peruse, for instance?
Does her or she wish he or she had a delicious banana to ingest?
Will he or she ever join HHW.com and become a fledgling hero?
So many questions, so little time...and probably no payoff of any kind.
-
Where's DR slipshod? On his way home from work? Or...?

I don't know if this will help anyone (or if anyone cares), but links to all the avatars from the old board start with this:
"www .haineshisway.com/smf/avatars/..." and then the file name
and the links to all the avatars that have been added to the new board look like this:
"www .haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=##;type=avatar"
Where I've put ##, there is a number that corresponds to a particular image, but the link itself doesn't end in .jpg. Weird, huh?
-
I will admit that I was totally wrong about Herb Alpert becoming popular (but of course, I didn't realize that he was backed by the Mafia).
Please elaborate.
At some point (before or after he started A&R records), they "approached" him and made sure that his records were played on every radio station, every juke box, etc. Granted, he was talented. He finally in later years had a breakdown over the pressure. I believe he got out of the contract with the Mob (which is why you didn't hear much from him for some time). He revealed all this several years ago.

Good Evening!
Are we still on Page 6?!?!?
;)
-
After the board meeting today, the board moderator and I drained the fish fountain. It was so disgusting that there was nothing else to do. The fish went back whence they came, and the whole thing is empty and drying out.
-
Anyhoo...
I decided that I need to go for a walk, so I went for one. It was quite an informative excursion. I took a path less-travelled - well, more like never-travelled (by me, at least) - and not only did I find a park called the "Sunken Playground", but I also came across the The Morris-Jumel Mansion (http://www.morrisjumel.org/), which is the oldest house in Manhattan. Oh, and I also found out that there's a state correctional facility just 20 blocks from my apartment. Who knew?
-
Good Evening!
Are we still on Page 6?!?!?

You have no one to blame but yourself!
;D
-
And I also had an "altercation" with a young man who was probably no more than nine or ten years old...
He was tossing a football on the sidewalk with some of his friends. As I neared them, he began to take out his cellphone - it was one of those flip-top deals...
"Hey, can I have your number so that I can call you?"
-I laughed at him... "No."
"Ha, ha, ha... No. Well, you better be careful. I'm going to take your picture now so that I can rape you later."
WTF?!?!?!?
-
Good Evening!

And after all the sandwich talk yesterday, I went ahead and made a grilled cheese sandwich for tonight's dinner. Smoke provolone on sunflower-wheat bread. YUM! -With some of the roasted broccoli and cauliflower I made earlier in the week.

Umm...I've read it...a few times. ;D We have rehearsal tonight and tomorrow and then I'll have most of the weekend to work on it (and to ketchup on some TV watching and DVR erasing).

Are we still on Page 6?!?!?
;)
An excellent question and I have the answer: Yes! I guess the fact that the board was down last week and everyone had great pangs is meaningless, because there are way too many errant and truant hainsies/kimlets.
Am I supposed to fast tomorrow or Friday? Am I supposed to slow on Saturday or Sunday?
-
Tonight I shall be watching Melville's Dieuxiemme Souflee - very excited to see it. Then maybe the new Touch of Evil DVD, with three separate versions of the film. Or the new Sleeping Beauty. Or the new 7th Voyage of Sinbad.
-
Tonight I need to write an appeal brief. I was hoping to get it done during the day today, but for some reason I just couldn't get anything productive done
-
Edith and I walked again this noon. I should say powerwalked because she sets a quick pace. I also started taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Good grief am I out of shape or what!

But...but....what did the Dutch ever do to you?
(And how the heck can you make them lettuce?)

My throat is feeling a little raw today - it started around noon. I bought some Airborne and Coldeez and while I was at CVS doing so, guess what I found? Twizzler's Chocolate Licorice, the first time I have ever seen them in Studio City or anywhere else in LA. Very good news and now I'm only sorry that I overpaid by a 1.50 on eBay. They're under $2.50 here.

ASK BK DAY
BK, how soon before you can give us an updated list of who will be performing at the December 1, Bacharach AIDS Event?
-
Here's a post.
It's allergy season everywhere. We're all feeling it.
Got my CD/DVD shelves up and have twice as many videos, DVDs,and three times as many CDs as will fit. I think it's time to start weeding through all that (among everything else in my life). I did come across many treasures i have not been able to get to for awhile. The stuff was stored in my linen closet (which gave me no room to store linens or clothes). Everytime I'd open the door, Ed Sullivan would fall on my head. OK, that's an exaggeration; sometimes it was Bing Crosby.
-
Think I'll go make some Dutch lettuce
But...but....what did the Dutch ever do to you?
(And how the heck can you make them lettuce?)
Well, as my mother says "you ain't much if you ain't Dutch" ok, SHE doesn't say it but the blue delft plate on her wall does.
Dutch lettuce - that's what my family has always called it - is leaf lettuce with boiled potatoes cut up in small pieces, hard boiled eggs cut up and ham (if you want to - I leave it out) chunks. Then you fry a little bacon and onion (I like a sweet onion for this) when the onion are translucent or maybe a titch brown and the bacon looks done, you pour in vinegar and a little sugar. Let it cook a little and pour it over the lettuce, egg, potatoes and ham. It tastes great but leaves a lot of dirty dishes
-
Don't ask me proportions, you just guess
-
I need to go to the store.
Laters!
-
Congratulations, Ron, on your milestone!
-
I'll try to get a current list of who's performing by Friday.

Oh, I don't know - I like having a Hero Member. We can't have enough heroes, these days. And all our haineshisway.com family are both heroes and members.
And we certainly can't have enough members.

I hate when my throat feels like this - scratchy and raw. Hopefully the Airborne and the Coldeez and the EmergenC will all help.

Well, I think I will head off to bed. This is going to be a very long and busy weekend coming up. It is my 40th high school reunion on Saturday night. Somehow, don't ask me how, that unpopular kid from High School Drama ended up hosting the Friday night, pre-reunion pizza and beer party at The Cloverleaf Tavern (Linda Evan's favorite pizza place).
In addition, I have two ex-girlfriends flying into town to celebrate the reunion by spending some quality time with me. Besides that, Stan is still in ICU and Angel has been getting sick all week, probably because of a lack of attention on my part.
G'night!

I'd love to know your sources for this, as a lifelong fan of A&M with many personal friends who have worked with Herb and Lani through the years. Herb's "breakdown" had nothing to do with the "Mob" in any story I have ever read or been told. But perhaps I've not read the information you evidently have.

Just had a wonderful telephonic call from my ex-agent, who, thanks to this site, I reconnected with. He just fell head over heels in love with Benjamin Kritzer, and will be reading the other two books this weekend. He wants to run with them and has several ideas for directors. Doesn't mean anything will happen, but to finally have someone who read that book and "saw" what it could be (and I only think it will be strengthened by the two subsequent book). And I'm anxious for him to read the two Hofstetter books, because I really think he'll see the potential of those, two. But he told me he laughed out loud as he read BK and was very touched at the ending.

As I said, the news doesn't really mean anything - maybe it will someday, but to have someone on the side of the Kritzer books makes me feel good, so I was very grateful for the call.

Uh-oh...
States’ Purges of Voter Rolls Appear Illegal (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/09/us/politics/09voting.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin)
Tens of thousands of eligible voters in at least six swing states have been removed from the rolls or have been blocked from registering in ways that appear to violate federal law, according to a review of state records and Social Security data by The New York Times.
The actions do not seem to be coordinated by one party or the other, nor do they appear to be the result of election officials intentionally breaking rules, but are apparently the result of mistakes in the handling of the registrations and voter files as the states tried to comply with a 2002 federal law, intended to overhaul the way elections are run.

Whew! What a night! Chaos and contentment. New faces and old. When I die, my ghost is definitely going to haunt the structure of the establishment now known as Mulligan's Grill and Clubhouse, formally Sam Morgan's. . . I've been employed in this same building now for over a decade.

I began my evening watching the bonus disc of THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM. Fairly superficial extras, but I'm sure real fans of the show are glad to get anything, no matter how silly, with the cast taking part.
-
I was going to watch Jodie Foster's THE BRAVE ONE which I recorded over the weekend from HBO-HD, but I realized that I hadn't watched Tuesday night's THE SHIELD, and since my friend John and I talk about it at lunch on Thursdays, I needed to watch it. So, THE BRAVE ONE will have to wait.
-
THE SHIELD was really good, and with only a few episodes left in the series, the face-off between Vic and Shane is now obviously to the death. Good lord, it's riveting!

I watched the last half hour of a LAW & ORDER episode with Ben Shenkman as the defense attorney. I hadn't seen the episode in years, but I did vaguely remember watching it when it was originally on. And seeing Jerry Orbach is always a pleasure on the show.
-
Next, I watched BONES. An OK episode tonight. Any time religion is part of the plot, the Booth-Bones team is at odds making for sometimes less than gripping viewing. Tonight's new intern was also irritating, so this is one I won't miss being gone.
-
My throat still feels scratchy and raw - I've popped a few more Coldeez, but don't want to do any more of that stuff tonight, as I'm feeling very bloated from the EmergenC (in water) and Airborne (in water). That's a lot of water.
-
And I concluded my evening with tonight's CSI: NY. I thought it was going to take place completely on a flight with Mac solving the crime airborne, but only the first quarter of the show took place there with the remainder done back in NYC. Good mystery, and I didn't guess the murderer's identity until right before it was revealed.
-
I'm glad you are happy, td.
-
Well, I'm starting to feel my cold medicine starting to kick in, so...
Goodnight.
-
Hello I have been busy making flyers and tickets for the Pancake Breakfast fundraiser I am chairing for the Vixters youth group. They are raising money to go to New Orleans next July to aid with the recovery efforts
-
But before that I did some grocery shopping. Potatoes were on sale so I bought a 5 lb bag.
I used about half the bag to make some potato soup, which was tonight's dinner.
-
Heading down now to bed.
Good night!
-
The Vixter was on a school trip tonight to see Legally Blonde. She just called to say they would back at the school by 12:30.
Vixdad is already abed with his poorly knee and his earache so I suppose i am the designated driver

You do realize that they have found Airborne doesn't prevent colds...at least I think that was the finding. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong ;D

My throat still feels scratchy and raw - I've popped a few more Coldeez, but don't want to do any more of that stuff tonight, as I'm feeling very bloated from the EmergenC (in water) and Airborne (in water). That's a lot of water.
You do realize that they have found Airborne really doesn't do any good. Right?
Hadn't heard that - wish I had before spending the seven bucks on it.
Let me see if I can find it on the net. It was a while back. Maybe they've changed the formula or something

There's no credible evidence that what's in Airborne can prevent colds or protect you from a germy environment," said CSPI Senior nutritionist David Schardt. "Airborne is basically on overpriced, run-of-the-mill vitamin pill that's been cleverly, but deceptively, marketed."
Here's the CNN story of the settlement. It's still a vitamin supplement, so it's not going to hurt anything

And this is from the Airborne website http://www.airbornehealth.com/cnav_faqs.php#general02
Company Information
1. Where is Airborne based?
Airborne, Inc. is based in Bonita Springs, Florida, with offices in Carmel, California, and New Jersey.
2. How much does Airborne cost?
Although prices may vary, the average retail price for a tube of Airborne is $6.99.
3. What is the recent news regarding a lawsuit about?
On November 29, 2007, the US District Court of the Northern District of California in Riverside granted preliminary approval to a $23.25 million settlement reached between Airborne and attorneys representing the alleged plaintiff class. Plaintiff's complaint stems from Airborne advertising and labeling between 2001 and 2007 that allegedly positioned Airborne Original as a cold remedy. In late 2005 and early 2006, Airborne made changes on its own to product labeling and advertising to reflect Airborne's role as a dietary supplement that helps support the body's immune system. Airborne denies wrongdoing or illegal conduct but decided to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid costly litigation. A hearing was held on June 16, 2008 at which the court was asked to give final approval to the settlement. This request has been fully briefed and the parties are waiting the court's decision.

Before I left work, I was going to post that I was leaving to go to rehearsal for "Loot," but my computer at work goobered and I couldn't do anything on the Internet, so I just left. :-\
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ;)

That's so great, BK! I hope something good happens with this! :D

But speaking of rehearsal...a couple of weeks ago, my friend Josh, who was going to play my son, was laid off from his job as a mortician/embalmer. :P Today, our director Tom said that Josh was flown to South Caroline for a job interview, and more than likely would have to drop out. Tom also said that another actor recently told him that he (the other actor) had three, count 'em THREE conflicts during final tech week!! What's that all about?? Anyway, Tom made the decision to cancel the production. We won't be doing the play, "Loot." :-\

However, now this makes it possible for me to audition for TAO (http://www.olytheater.com)'s production of Reefer Madness: The Musical (the other version ;)). TAO (Theater Artists Olympia) had originally planned to bring back Cannibal!: The Musical (I was in their production two years ago), but then announced that they were going to do RM. So, that's what I'm going to audition for. :)
