Well, you've read the notes, the notes were feeling fine, and now it is time for you to post until the sick cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SEREIN!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
No, I see little boxes with question marks.
Hmm...let me try this one more time. I've downloaded the pictures to my computer, then uploaded them to the HHW photobucket account that I created. Here they are, one more time. Hopefully, THIS time, you'll be able to see them:

How about now, BK??
-
And as far as not seeing/having the box to attach pictures to your message in Reply mode...do you have a link for "Additional Options..." right under the "Message" box? If you do, click on that, and the hidden "Attach" box should appear. If you don't, that's something that will probably need to be fixed.
-
I see those photos. But I don't have the attach box - so something in my Global Admin account needs to be clicked - I've e-mailed Bakalor and hopefully it's an easy fix.
-
Media Check...in my DVD player, the DVD that I just bought yesterday, "U-Carmen," the South African translation of Bizet's "Carmen." After I bought that at Border's (with a 30% off coupon ;D), I went to Costco and bought "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day," the Blu-ray DVD (which includes the regular DVD) to Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" and "Eli Stone," the complete season one.
I have quite a few shows on my DVRs, but I'll have most of the weekend to get through those.
-
Tonight, I will see Ursula K. Le Guin (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/season/season_detail.asp?event_id=1058), right here in Olympia, Washington! I'm actually ushering for the event. She'll be reading from and talking about her book, "A Wizard of Earthsea," which is this year's Timberland Reads Together (http://www.trlib.org/TRT08/trt.htm) book. TRT is also a part of "The Big Read, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest, designed to restore reading to the center of American culture." Essentially, everyone throughout the entire Timberland library district (who choses to participate) reads the same book and has discussions and events, etc. This is the fourth year that Timberland has done this. Click HERE (http://www.trlib.org/TRT08/trt-previous.htm) to find out what previous titles were. :)

And now...to bed.

In today's notes, our esteemed BK posted a rare and wonderful lyric that he had found, by the legendary Meltz and Ernest, which began:
Somewhere over the weather
There’s no flu
No one ever has colds and
Sore throats don’t bother you.
Since he is our Meltz and Ernest maven, perhaps he knows the provenance of the following snippet, whether it is by M&E themselves, or perhaps by a protege:
I feel rotten
Oh so rotten
Like some cotton has caught in my ear
And my poor throat
Is a sore throat at this time of year.
It's a snatch of lyric that I've known for quite some time, but I've never been able to track down where it is from.

TOD:
Book (and CD player):
Defying Gravity, by Carol de Giere. It's fun to read the book, and listen to the scores of Stephen Schwartz while reading about them. But does anyone know anything about this The Stephen Schwartz Album, apparently a CD featuring songs that he has written that the author mentions several times?
:-*
And, on the DVD front:
Der Brucer packaged the two-disc release of Ironman with the aforementioned book, when he ordered them from Amazon.
But one of my co-horts at work, Jeffrey (who is tall and blond and works in the Deli department and is scheeming to play Dorothy when the Deli department dresses up as the cast of The Wizard of Oz this upcoming Halloween, 'nuff said) found out that that dreamy (his word) John Barrowman is in a television series called Torchwood, and that I had it on DVD. I agreed to loan it to him, but only if he started with the series Torchwood spun off from, and followed the two shows in chronological order. He has now worked his way through Series One and Series Two of the original show, plus Series One of Torchwood, and has now started on Series Three of the original.
Well, Jeffrey has, in turn, loaned me/us Saturday Night Live: The Best of Saturday TV Funhouse. It's a collection of the animated stuff that SNL has broadcast over the years, including "The Ambiguously Gay Duo." Should be fun!
-
And the word of the day is: SEREIN!
The surreal SEREIN slips silently southward, seriously soaking the sunflowers, sorgham and solenostemon scutellarioides.
Try saying that three times quickly, I SNEER!
-
Der Brucer is about to hit a milestone.
-
And workies.
-
Yes today is Friday and it is a workday for me as well. Oh well.
And I am going to ask my brother in law if he can exchange this television set for me since the bottom of the screen is BLUE or GREEN depending on my color setting. GRRRRRRRRRRR
-
Why is DR MBARNUM watching Bollywood movies when he has so many Bomba movies to watch?
And he also has DEADLY ISLAND the "world's most banned movie" in his possession, not to mention THE PHARAOH'S CURSE.....
-
TOD:
DVD - nothing
CD - nothing
VCR - nothing
That was easy.

I knew it.
This is one of those days when it seems as if the universe is becoming unhinged. Success and widespread gains across the board are conceivably in view -- courtesy of the Moon in Aquarius making its monthly union with visionary and imaginative Neptune (2:51AM PDT). There is also a provocative and mind-expanding Mercury-Uranus parallel (2:12AM PDT) early on that will be amplified later when the same two planets form a mentally-stimulating 72-degree rapport (6:27PM PDT).
-
A parallel with Uranus is always provocative and mind-expanding, or so they say
-
So they say.
Off to work. Oh well.
-
As Bloody Mary might say, that parallel can at times be very expansive
-
Or is that expensive? My herring may have been bad.
-
Reminds me, I need to take my fish oil/Omega 3 pill
-
The doctor said my "bad cholesterol" is very good (190) but for my "good cholesterol" I may want to either eat more fish (shrimp and lobster apparently doesn't count as fish for this purpose) or else take fish oil/omega 3 supplements.
-
Whew!!! I am woefully behind. At work and here. But no time to catch up right now. :(

Good Morning, Good day! How is everyone this beautiful day?
-
Good morning, all! I have a long trip to Toyland this morning to gather up some scores to write about over the weekend, There's still no word from my colleague except for a "thanks for your patience," which is rather tried at this point. As for my other colleague, Mr Tom Murray, who left me in the lurch in January, he's now off to London. There are days I feel I'm bailing water on the Titanic and today I'm rather frustrated by it all.
TOD:
DVD: Don Giovanni, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Tale of Two Cities

Good morning!
We are finally seeing the sun after quite a few days of overcast. Going to be a bit warmer today, too, into the 70s, but that's OK since I'll be spending a great deal of time indoors this weekend.

On TV Tonight!
CBS - GHOST WHISPERER, THE EX-LIST, NUMB3RS
NBC - CRUSOE, LIFE
ABC - reality stuff and 20/20
USA - THE STARTER WIFE (season premiere)
-
For some reason, I couldn't sleep, so I got up, got the (*&^#*&% kitchen floor mopped, and then settled in with the first episode in the CSI box set (see Friday Media Check). This was the episode that tied up the midnapping of Sara from the end of the previous season, and the show, while harrowing, had very little to do with forensics and more to a simple manhunt in the desert with the team trying to find their injured CSI.

Friday Media Check:
CD - ANYTHING GOES (London Revival Cast w/Elaine Page)
DVD - CSI: Season 8
SEX AND THE CITY film (Blu-ray)

So... Your head was wilted? Was that a euphemism?

I'm rockin' out to heavy metal.

I'm up, I'm up. It took me quite a long time to fall asleep last night, despite the Ny-Quil. I am, of course, very groggy this morning and I'm praying my voice can hold on through all this rawness so I can moderate well tomorrow.
-
As for the Friday Media Check...
CD Player - I'm still working my way through the DG sets of Emil Gilels playing Beethoven, Mozart and some other composers.
TV-wise - It's been a DVR existence this week. There really seems to be just too much good television programming on right now. My roommate, Jim, who is the true "TV addict" in the apartment, is going crazy trying to juggle the DVR programming, his "live" viewing and his work and gym schedule! Thankfully(?), if I find myself missing an epsiode, well, then I miss it. -And since I don't like watching TV shows on the small screen, a.k.a. my computer, well...

bk - Just remember that clearing your throat can actually "raw" out your throat even more. Better to take a swig of warm water, or just take a good swallow (of air). Steam also helps, so an extra minute or two in the shower would do some good too.

What will I watch this weekend?
No idea.
I'm going back to Texas next week for a few days, so the weekend will probably we mostly devoted to getting ready for that trip.
I did get that new Abbott and Costello box set (28 movies) that's coming out later this month, so I might watch IT AIN'T HAY, which is the only A&C Universal movie not previously released onto DVD.

Did anybody watch LIFE ON MARS last night?
Frankly, I wasn't too impressed with it.
I enjoy time travel movies, but this particular premise just doesn't work for me.
Also, I thought that the Harey Kietel and Michael Imperioli characters were a bit over the top.

Haven't heard back from Bakalor yet re pix. I can see pix that are linked from the Internet, but not ones that are posted from the computer, and I have no way of posting anything that's on my computer. Hopefully it's an easy fix and he'll do it.

A bit?? ;)
I watched it and liked (but didn't love) it. I then went to Amazon.co.uk and read some of the reviews (especially the negative ones) of the original British version, which only went for two seasons. I knew that there would be spoilers and there were. If the US version ends the way the British version does, I have no interest in continuing to watch the show. :-\

I miss Jack LaLanne's show every morning and the ubiquitous Hammond accompanying him as he demonstrated all the things you could do with a kitchen chair and broom handle. Life was so simple then!
However, if you ever find out I bought one of those little jumpsuits he wore, please shoot me!

Now...it's time for me to get ready for work. I need to wear my "usher outfit" (white shirt and black pants) to work because I'm ushering tonight and I don't have time (actually, don't want to take the time) to go home and change. Hopefully, I won't get my white shirt dirty. It's been known to happen. ::)

Well...
I need to start getting ready to head home for a few days. I probably won't head down to Virginia until Sunday, or even Monday at this point, but since I've more or less been a slug this past week, I do have a couple of things to take care of around the apartment before I make the trip South. Of course, the tidying and organizing I've been putting off shouldn't take all that long, but it's just a matter of doing it. Nike! In any case...
My mom will be going in for mitral valve replacement on Tuesday. The "news" leaked a few weeks ago. However, since my parents were trying not to worry their sons, various messages and "status reports" got mixed up causing a bit of (unnecessary) shock. I stopped freaking out (almost) about the whole situation a week or so ago, but since I happen to have a break in my work schedule, I figured I might as well head down to Richmond while she's having the procedure.
I had wanted to head down earlier this week, but it turns out that various family friends have been stopping by to visit my parents, and there has been no room at the Inn. My Dad even called me to ask me where I was planning on staying since all three bedrooms and the Aerobed were already spoken for. So, I may end up staying with Steve which actually works out fine since he happens to work for the same hospital system where my Mom is having the surgery, so he can take me in to visit when he heads to work. Getting hit with a cold - which seems to have passed - also delayed my trip down to Virginia earlier this week.
Vibes and Prayers....

I watched it and the new Eleventh Hour - enjoyed them both.
Neither show made the mistake of throwing too many character development plot items into the pilot.

The daily HHW groan-tempter:
Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married.
One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.
The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.
After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom, 'I think I am going to have a little whisk broom!'
'IMPOSSIBLE !' said the groom broom.
Are you ready for this?
Brace yourself; this is going to hurt ! ! ! ! !

CONNECTICUT HIGH COURT PERMITS GAY MARRIAGE (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,435881,00.html)
HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have the right to marry, making the state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize such unions.
The divided court ruled 4-3 that gay and lesbian couples cannot be denied the freedom to marry under the state constitution, and Connecticut's civil unions law does not provide those couples with the same rights as heterosexual couples.
…
"The Supreme Court has spoken," Rell said in a statement. "I do not believe their voice reflects the majority of the people of Connecticut. However, I am also firmly convinced that attempts to reverse this decision -- either legislatively or by amending the state Constitution -- will not meet with success."

A classic misunderstanding of what happens on the ground:
"The only reason for fraudulent registration is fraudulent voting."
Not so!
Both parties pay folks a "bounty" for gaining voter registrations. A "bounty hunter" has a financial motivation to rack up voter registration cards, fraudulent or not. The hunter could not care less about whether the phony registration results in a fraudulent vote. Voter registration programs I helped manage would pay volunteer groups to set up voter registration tables outside super markets and in malls to solicit registrations - and we would sort through the forms prior to submission to cull out any obvious phonies (Pluto at a Disneyland address).

I just got a nice surprise. I am the "voice" of the Foundation Center. When you call our offices if a human being doesn't answer the phone you hear me giving you various directions for what to do next. This past weekend I just recorded a series of 23 short bits (ranging from 15 second to 30 seconds) informing callers who are put on hold about various services offered by the FC. I knew I was going to receive a gift card to Barnes and Noble for doing it but I was originally told it would be $25. I got the card today and it's $50! I sent a thank you e-mail and was told they were so impressed by what I did that they felt I should receive a larger gift card. All I did was sit in front of my computer, turn on the recording software and read 23 different scripts and make 23 sound bytes and burn them to a disc. But they don't have to know that ;D
I now must go to B&N this weekend to see what I can get. Perhaps the Sondheim Box Set (although I have practically everything on it).

Good Afternoon!
Greetings from Chelsea Barber! On the walk over from the subway I realized that it has been a while since my last haircut which was a few days before my birthday back at the end of August. Almost a full seven weeks! And, yes, as I suspected, Max gave me that "Where have you been?" look when I walked in. However, since Max is Russian, his look was kind of sexy. ;)
-
...And since Bertilda's chair opened up - Max had a couple more of his regulars waiting in line for him - I went ahead and had Bertilda cut my hair today. She's actually the owner/manager of Chelsea Barber, and she was the first person to cut my hair in NYC. I asked her to give me a "winter cut", so instead of my usual "1 on the sides, 3 on the top" she started off with a "1-1/2 on the sides" then tapered up to a 4 on top. Aaahhh.... :)
-
And now... Shake Shack! :)
-
I finished watching LIFE ON MARS, and enjoyed it very much....enought that I will tune in next week. That lead actor guy is quite good. I had never heard of him before. I also liked the policewoman.

The pilot makes fairly clear that we are believe that he is (or believes he is)still in 2008 and in a coma.
der Brucer
I understood that before I went to Amazon.co.uk.
-
If it's with his death, then that's essentially the same ending as Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee.
What I wonder about is how the original British series ended (he didn't die...but there was a specific twist, if you will) and the dissapointment that an Amazon.co.uk reviewer felt and wrote about and if the American version will use the same ending/twist.
-
I'm now sucking on a Coldeze and having some EmergenC in hot water.
Okay, I'm done with Airborne.
-
Perhaps the Sondheim Box Set (although I have practically everything on it).
You mean the one with the never released "Evening Primrose" material?
der Brucer
Yeah, and the very rare never heard scores to The Enclave and Invitation To A March, available for everyone's listening please since 1993, along with several other of the very rare songs on the rarities disc.
-
At long last page five
-
Haven't heard from Mr. Geissman, so I'm thinking today's demo recording won't happen and we'll do it next week.
-
...And they just ran out of whipped cream... And the B-line busts gets longer and longer... And keeps looking at me... :-\

Back from a meant-to-be leisurely but-still-a-bit nervewracking visit to CostCo this morning. I took advantage of an Executive Membership and arrived an hour early. Much to my surprise, a thousand or so other customers were there already!!!
Nevertheless, except for some extremely wierd traffic patterns in parts of the store, it was a profitable day for CostCo courtesy of yours truly.
My main goal was to stock up on fire logs. I can buy a box of 9 for a few dollars more than my local grocery store charges for a box of 6. It was on the way to the fire logs that the damage was truly done. Spent way more than I wanted to or "thought" I would be spending.
Glad I decided against a Blu-ray player and another portable hard drive.
-
I finished watching LIFE ON MARS, and enjoyed it very much....enought that I will tune in next week. That lead actor guy is quite good. I had never heard of him before.
That is Jason O'Mara, who played a charming villain on The Closer and won MattH's heart.

I think it's silly to speculate on such things when the show is just beginning. If it takes off, it could run for YEARS (unlike British shows which often have a limited outlook). I'm going to enjoy it while I can and worry about its ending when there is an ending.

He won my heart when he played the lead in his first ABC series IN JUSTICE. The camera just loves him. He has also done story arcs on GREY'S ANATOMY and MEN IN TREES as well as those two memorable appearances on THE CLOSER.

Happy Me.
Very cool, DR Ben! Congrats!
-
I began my afternoon viewing with last night's THE OFFICE. Some funny stuff as always and a great little subplot with Meredith.
-
Next, I watched four more episodes of CSI. With the one I watched this morning, I've watched five already today, and since there are only 17 in the set this time, I should be able to finish the box by tomorrow night. As I thought I remembered, the plots are pretty bland in season 8. The one I just finished took place at a movie studio that specialized in hack slasher movies, and by the end of the episode, there were like three deaths plus a serious gunshot wound.
-
I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing and nothing in next week's previews.
-
Then, I watched some more of last Sunday's MAD MEN in HD On Demand. I only got abother 10 minutes of it watched, so I still have about a half hour to go.
-
Off to start my two day holiday weekend!
-
And the B-line busts gets longer and longer...
I didn't know you were a bust man.
der Brucer
-
Hmmm... Chocolate frozen custard, chocolate crumble, toasted coconut, toasted walnuts and dulce de leche... And that's what they call a German Chocolate Concrete. :)
-
And now it's time to walk off the almost two cups of chocolate frozen custard I just consumed.
Laters...

I'll have what he's having.

I have a few little computer maintenance chores to accomplish and then it's back downstairs for more with Gil Grissom and his crime lab co-horts.

DR Jose, VIBES AND PRAYERS FOR YOUR MOTHER!
-
CONGRATS DR BEN! Lucky people who get to listen to your voice :D
-
Does that mean that if we call and ask if they have Prince Albert in a can that Ben's voice is the one we'll hear?
-
Grant couldn't work until five, so I told him we should just do it next week, when I'm feeling better, have my voice 100% and like that. So, I'm now just going to relax for the rest of the day and evening. Doing questions for tomorrow's event, and hopefully getting the Elmer Bernstein title live momentarily (she said she'd be back at one my time and would have it up soon thereafter - not).
-
Der Brucer is about to hit a milestone.
90?

Vibes for Jose's mom
-
Vibes and prayers for DR Jose's dear mother.

Good Afternoon, once again!
-And I believe I'm currently in a post-German-Chocolate-Concrete haze-daze. ::)
-
And Thank You for all the Vibes and Prayers for my Mom. I will be sure to pass them along to her once I get down to Richmond. They're also helping me with my unease in dealing with the unknown - and with what I know I can't really do anything about, what I can't "help". After checking bus schedules, I think I may head down tomorrow afternoon, since I have a feeling that the busses may be full on Sunday. We shall see... But, again...
Thank You.

TWO GREAT ELMER BERNSTEIN SCORES MAKE THEIR CD DEBUT!
Kritzerland is proud to present its newest limited edition CD – two rare scores from Elmer Bernstein.
LAURETTE Music from the play
Produced in 1960, Laurette starred Judy Holliday, was directed by Jose Quintero, and produced by Alan Pakula. It was a bio-play based on the life of the legendary actress Laurette Taylor. Mr. Bernstein provided a background score for the show, which unfortunately closed out of town before getting to Broadway. The music is pure Elmer and is an interesting transitional score from his bigger and jazzier scores of that era to the type of score he would shortly provide for To Kill A Mockingbird. The scoring is beautiful, delicate, and filled with wonderful melodies.
PRINCE JACK Original Soundtrack Recording
Prince Jack was a low-budget film written and directed by Bert Lovitt (adapted from his play), a series of vignettes about the presidency of John F. Kennedy, starring Dana Andrews, Kenneth Mars, Jim Backus, Theodore Bikel, Lloyd Nolan, Robert Guillaime, and others. Originally, there was little budget for any music, and source and library music was going to be used. However, when the film came in under budget, the leftover money was used to hire Elmer Bernstein to provide a small amount of original scoring. Even though quite brief and scored for a smaller ensemble of about twenty musicians, the score has all the hallmarks of its composer – wonderful melodies, and terrific dramatic writing. It’s very much in the style of his 1980s films, including the use of the Ondes Martinot.
Mastered from the best available sources, there are some sound anomalies, but every effort has been made to minimize any problems. The CD runs just under thirty minutes. Given the archival nature of the release and the brevity, we are offering these two rare scores at a special price of $15.98 (plus shipping).
This release is limited to 1000 copies only.
CDs will ship in early November – preorders usually ship one to two weeks earlier.
To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com

That's very true...but it was a bit depressing to read how the British version ended. :-\
I am going to watch it a few more times and see how I feel about the show, in general. I did enjoy watching it last night. And Jason O'Mara is nice to look at. ;)

Does that mean that if we call and ask if they have Prince Albert in a can that Ben's voice is the one we'll hear?
Only if you get put on hold

DR JRand58 will be very happy with this DVD set releasing on 1/27/08:
Warner Bros. Romance Classics Collection (includes Palm Springs Weekend, Parrish, Rome Adventure and Susan Slade)
Hopefully he will have a working television by then.

DR Jose, you'll feel somewhat better just being there. I know I did when my dad had his quintuple bypass. It was years and years ago now, but just being there with my mom and other family members, even though I really couldn't do anything, eased my mind a bit.

That was cute.

Today I took Edith to lunch and had to stop by the house for a minute afterwards. She met the cats for the first time. She always laughs at me for talking to them. Boo was looking at me. Boo hadn't made a sound since we got there. I said "Boo, say hello to Edith" Boo turned and looked at Edith and said "Meow". Edith jumped! She looked at me and said "I'll never tease you about talking to your cats again". Too funny
-
I need to go back to the office and work for a while tonight. I have writing to do, which is hard to do during the day. At night it's dark and quiet and I tend to be a lot more productive.
-
Der B, congrats on your milepost.
-
Hurricane Norbert? Who comes up with these names?
-
Prince Albert
I think I'm thinking of something other than what Laura DR probably intended. :-X
Wonder why?

Well, I'm off to see Ursula K. Le Guin (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/season/season_detail.asp?event_id=1058).
Have a good evening, all!
-
I miss Jack LaLanne's show every morning and the ubiquitous Hammond accompanying him as he demonstrated all the things you could do with a kitchen chair and broom handle. Life was so simple then!
However, if you ever find out I bought one of those little jumpsuits he wore, please shoot me!
Better what Jack LaLanne wore than following Richard Simmons' sartorial lead!

That made me cry, also makes me miss Echo something fierce. When we would return home from a trip I would sit on the lawn while Keith would get Echo. I had to sit to keep from getting knocked over, she would spin in circles, slamming into me each time. And then over & over she would shove her body into me while I attempted to hold her still.

Umm. . .that's what Dixie does when I come home from WORK! :)

Media Check:
CD: Jason Danieley and the Frontier Heroes hasn't left my cd player. . .I'm listening to him right now as I type.
DVD: FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL - I thought it was quite endearing.
THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY - nice commentary from Steve Haberman and Angela Lansbury in addition to the fantastic movie itself.
-
td ;D
Sherlock sort of says hello to me & then runs over to Keith. After Echo, we also learned to not let the dogs get overexcited...that's what the experts say anyway. I kind of miss the excitement though I don't get knocked over this way.

So if we want to hear you we should call and say "Hello, could you please put me on hold? Thank you."
That made me laugh. There may be a rash of callers asking to be put on hold. I may call the main number tonight just to see what happens when the phones are closed and put on auto answer.
-
Good Evening!
Dinner has been consumed and the dishes have been washed, and I think I'm just going to spend tonight in front of the TV catching up on some shows via the DVR, or just switching between the Food Network and TLC like I normally I do. ;)

DRs Jane and Cillaliz - Thank you.

Have you written that Letter to the Editor yet? I mean, if Stephen Sondheim can write letters to the New York Times, surely you can write to USA Today.
-
-Think of it as free advertising.
-
Holy smokes - one dealer just took 500 copies of the Elmer. That means that with other dealer commitments there are now less than 400 left.
-
Remember the Elmer - that's my new motto
-
Well, I am leaving in a few minutes to host my pre-reunion get-together. At the moment I just want to get it over with it. I want all of the guests to show up, chip in on the pizza ($240.00 pre-ordered), and then I don't care what they do.
-
I also liked the policewoman.
That was Gretchen Mol. Didn't she play Betty Page in a movie?

This is my friend Tony. We sing at the same church and the same synagogue. Since choir practice is Thursday night, we spent the day with each other yesterday from 8:30 AM until 9:15 PM.

Thanks, Coleslaw, but didn't you forget to give me Tony's phone number?

Oh...
Yes, I did. :)

Oh...
Yes, I did. :)
You did what?
-
DR TCB, I hope you had a nice time at your pre-reunion gathering.
-
Mother's Cookies is headed for chapter 11. They have been around since 1914.
-
Sherlock had a shower today & is looking & smelling good. :)
I'll be cooking, cleaning, etc tomorrow before we entertain tomorrow night.
'night
-
I think that DR Singdaw's friend Tony should visit
Philadelphia Pittsburgh. Soon.
-
Oh...
Yes, I did. :)
You did what?
Did whom is the proper grammar.
-
Dixie Bell is ready for her bedtime snack. I'm ready for SLEEPING BEAUTY on dvd.
-
Watching a motion picture and keeping quiet - I really need to have a voice tomorrow. On top of everything, my allergies began bothering me - I suppose this all could be allergy related - got some Allavert, and have some Mucinex, and that will be my pre-bedtime cocktail - my ENT man's cure-all for throat problems.
-
Okay, somebody really needs to tell me what in tarnation is going on here. No postings for an hour, no one in the jernt but me and Laura - this is really going to lead to a bitch-slapping from here to eternity and hell and back.
-
A very quiet evening around here. Yes, I was busy viewing stuff: some for work and some for fun, but the phone didn't ring once, and that's rare on a Friday night.
-
I did watch five more episodes of CSI. I thought immediately about DR Jane during one of the episodes that had to do with dog fighting. Unlike the BONES episode that showed nothing but a couple of photographs, the CSI episode showed the actual fight. Of course, it was all done with quick cuts, raucous dog fighting sounds on the track, etc. but it was a visceral scene, one that would be very upsetting to those who are bothered even with staged combat like that.
-
I watched tonight's GHOST WHISPERER. Not one of the more fascinating episodes, I didn't think. I didn't get very engaged with these spoiled grown-ups who used to torment Melinda in high school.
-
LIFE was another good episode, however. Nice to see Robin Weigert back for a guest appearance (she played the boss last season and was replaced by Donel Logue this season). I guessed the murderer pretty easily, but there was a lot more going on than the murder mystery, and it was all rather fascinating.
-
I've finished one motion picture on DVD, and will now start another. I also went out and bought some diet Snapple things and some melon balls.
-
Skip is back from the first of a series of five French cooking classes.
-
Do you have melon balls?
(almost a reference to the Sugar babies "Do you have popcorn balls" bit)
-

Does this mean that you will be having pain perdu for breakfast tomorrow morning? Or duck confit for tomorrow's dinner?

to which the answer was "No, I just walk this way because of rheumatism")

Oh...
Yes, I did. :)

Did whom is the proper grammar.
I was trying to retain their discretion.

Or should I say mousse au chocolat et stew au lamb

DR FJL - Pardon my punchline interruptus.

"Navarin d'Agneau"?
-

2 Cuillères à soupe d'huile d'olive

"Hell comes unexpectedly!"
That was a great sermon!

Travel vibes for DR JOSE and health vibes for Mother of JOSE.....
Congrats to DR derBRUCER on his milestone!
DR SINGDAW tell him to SMILE next time he is having photograph taken.
I am still intrigued and puzzled by the team photo that DR DtM posted this morning....
-
WOW DR MBARNUM this is GREAT news about the January Romance Releases.....the only thing that would have made it perfect would be if it included YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE, but that's okay....hope there are some extras.
-
DR MBARNUM some poster on the FindADeath board says he interviewed Sally Todd for VideoScope magazine, but he doesn't say when it will be published. I thought Sally was pretty much a recluse....I sent him an inquiring email and will let you know details if he bothers to answer.
-
Wow....Bernstein shore is popular!
-
I have NO television tonight. My nephew took my new blue one back today for an exchange, but because he didn't have my credit card with him, all they could do was credit the amount back to me, but not give him another television. So I guess I have to stop and get one tomorrow....or no television for Saturday night either....it's a dilemma.....it is.
-
Well work tomorrow, so I guess I will go to bed.
Funny kitty story, DR CILLA LIZ.
DR SINGDAW I loved the doggie video.
And in fact my uncle Wayne's doggie, Priscilla, may be coming to stay at our house for a week. She is a Peke mongrel mix....so of course if she is in the house, I will take photos. Not sure she is my type of canine, but she is here on vacation, so I think I can deal with it for seven days.
-
Too much ME on this page.
-
Too much ME on this page.
Really? Ya' think?!?!!?
;D
-
DR JRand - Just how big is this TV that you have to send back? Are they also sending an R.A. with the return-box for UPS to pick it up?

Needless to say, I'd be a basket case by this time. Of course, you can watch DVDs on your computer if you wanted to see a movie or boxed TV show. That's better than nothing.
-
I'm heading downstairs to bed now.
Good night.

Actually, when I worked in Indiana - Nappanee to be exact - I did not have a TV in my housing. -Which was sort of appropriate since I was working in Amish country. And the one television in the common room only had rabbit ears. Thankfully, we did have a VCR - and a Blockbuster and Meijer - within driving distance.

Well... We are "birthday twins".... ;)

WOW DR MBARNUM this is GREAT news about the January Romance Releases.....the only thing that would have made it perfect would be if it included YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE, but that's okay....hope there are some extras.
It's good news until you realize it's Warners - which means we'll have a lot of brown transfers.

You could read a book. Or listen to music. Or paint the living room.

I spent a good amount of time today with Bomba the Jungle Boy...such fun!!
Since the mailman brought me a Bollywood movie via Netflix, I think I shall watch it. The film is PAGE 3 (2005) starring Konkona Sen Sharma.
It is about a scandal rag.

I gotta tell you. I'm very phlegmy right now and I HATE it.

I used to watch that with my mom when I was young. She did the exercises every day. I would then go upstairs and listen to "Chicken Fat" on my little portable record player

OK... Well, I need to get to bed. I think I will go ahead and head down to Richmond tomorrow afternoon, so once I get up, I'll start cleaning and tidying up my room. And whatever I get done before I leave, is what I get done.
But before I go...

Much better.... -Of course, no one will know what I'm talking about.. or been talking about. In any case...
Goodnight.

I went back to the office around 7:30 or so and just got home. I finished my appeal brief, yeah! I will review it in the morning and get it ready to ship off (10 copies to the court, 2 copies to the prosecutor - right color cover etc...it's a pain) Edith said she'd come to the office and help me if I want her to. The brief doesn't HAVE to be sent off until Tuesday. There's really no reason I can't copy, package and send it off without her, but I get the impression she wants to do it. Maybe I'll call her in the morning and give her the option.

Now I know how much I really look at the avatars!

I feel phlemmy, oh so phlemmy...yuck I can't go on with that

Time for sleep.

Holy smokes - one dealer just took 500 copies of the Elmer. That means that with other dealer commitments there are now less than 400 left.
I'm glad I got my order in! :D
-
We're now down to about 330 copies - amazing especially because I've discovered that announcing on the film music board on a Friday isn't optimal - lots of people don't frequent the board on the weekend.

I have returned from the pre-reunion party, which was an amazing success.
Everyone kept coming up and thanking me for organizing the event. The pizza was paid for, along with a suitable tip for Angel who was our waitress. I guess I did okay, for being Mr. Unpopular in school.

In the midst of the party, a woman came in dressed all in black, and looking very stark and rather lost. She looked years older than the rest of us, which is pretty tough to do at a 40 year high school reunion. A lot of us were wondering who she might be, but weren't terribly concerned since she arrived with another of our classmates. Finally the word reached the corner of the room where I was standing. She was indeed a girl from our class, one of the most beautiful and sweetest girls in our entire class. She is suffering from advanced Alzheimer's Disease.
It was quite a sobering moment for many of us, who hadn't known that she was ill. It was emotional enough to read thru the list of classmates who had passed away since high school, but here was another of our classmates that was also gone, and yet still here.
