Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both thin and thick, and now it is time for you to post until the thin and thick cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ONIOMANIA!
-
Humm, I guess everyone here fell back even further then they thought! I"m first post and it's 7:56 AM!
I have a lot of work to do today. I'm cleaning my house and starting to pack for next weekend. I confess I've very nervous about this trip. I don't like to drive and since I've never seen winter weather, I'm just praying it won't snow or get real icy while I'm there.
Hugs and vibes to all!

Good morning, DR DANISE, thanks for the notes on Facebook.....
-
Wow it's almost 10 o'clock....no wait a minute....it's almost NINE o'clock. Whew.
Today is the annual meeting of the Putnam County Playhouse, Inc....and I have my visual prepared for my report.....now I must write the numbers down.....and insert them in last year's report.
-
I'm at my computer in my fall-back position,
-
Good morning. That is all.
-
I'm at my computer in my fall-back position,
It is most comfortable so early in the morning.
-
I keep forgetting that I cannot update the World of Wisdom website in FIREFOX.....so after I make all the changes, I have to go back and do them again in Explorer.
Glad to hear the show at least WENT last night.....
-
Good morning, all! I had a very poor night of sleep, which bums me out, because I was looking forward to a morning of an extra hour's sleep. Last night I finally watched the DVD of FLOWER DRUM SONG, which was quite wonderful. I felt several of the extras seemed more to be infomercials and promotion for the new - at the time - Hwang adaptation than the movie or the musical on which it's based, but it was fun to see several friends talking about the show.
I have to plan this morning's walk before settling down to work. I have to write the notes about courtesy accidentals and the editorial theory in the new edition of BABES IN TOYLAND, and get to work on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, which is one long score. I have to address the question with Jo Loesser this week of errors in the published vocal score, which the computer copyist has assumed are correct but are not. I'm not finding many, but there is a major one early in the Act One Prelude.
So, I'm thinking I will walk this morning over to Riverside Park and stroll down to 72nd Street where the park begins, then wal over to amsterdam or Columbus Avenue and walk back up to my place.
-
Felt the same way about the FLOWER DRUM SONG extras, DR ELMORE. But it was so nice to see some of the original cast members.....
-
Well, I suppose I should finish my coffee and get to work.
-
Sunday morning greetings! How nice that my one-day weekend is an hour longer than usual. Richard is off to church and I'm going to try to find the Butler County Board of Elections office where they've added early voting hours for today. I'd rather stand in line today and not have to miss work on Tuesday.
-
Vote early vote often, DR GINNY.
DR LAURA....work is calling you....and me....but at least I am not retail today.
-
Good morning!
We're in for another very pleasant day though not quite as warm as yesterday. We may get to 70, no higher, according to the forecasters. That's still warmer than it is in my house, so I may have the doors and windows open again today. We'll see.
-
I have decided that I will indeed work on the next Criterion disc today instead of proceeding with SABRINA. I'll work on SABRINA tomorrow since I'll have a good chunk of the afternoon and all evening since CHUCK and HEROES aren't on tomorrow night.

On TV Tonight!™
ABC - EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS
CBS - THE AMAZING RACE, COLD CASE, THE UNIT
NBC - NFL Football (Patriots vs. Colts, isn't it?)
HBO - TRUE BLOOD

The newspaper reported that some of the early polling places here yesterday had waits up to FIVE hours. Now, I waited about 30 minutes for the doors to open the morning I went, but there likely won't be a five hour wait on election day! If I were facing that kind of wait, I'd try to go on Tuesday if at all possible.
-
I haven't seen anything about early voting in Manhattan, so I guess I'll make an effort to get over to my location by 6:30 am or so on Tuesday. I think my longest wait's been around 45 minutes, but I suspect there will be large crowds this year.
And my thought for the day, which I think sums up my conception of the religious right rather well, to be alliterative, comes from Sinclair Lewis:
“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.”
-
Well, including my commute, my workday runs 8am-6:30pm on Tuesday, which doesn't leave much time on either end for any wait in line.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm tracking some marathon runners.

And the word of the day is: ONIOMANIA!
And The Song Of The Day Is: TWELVE DAYS TO CHRISTMAS

I guess I'll futz around with some computer maintenance for awhile and then head downstairs to get clothes sorted for today's laundry and then start thinking about what's for lunch.

Last night he began panting from the prednisone. We are deciding if we should skip tonight's dose.
Oh, poor Sherlock! I know exactly what "panting from the prednisone" feels like, since I had to take it in heavy doses after a severe case of hives several years ago.
Vibes for DD Sherlock and his loving caregivers!
-
DR Ginny, I feel better knowing you got through the panting. The vet figured she gave us more than enough prednisone, now it doesn't seem so. I don't want to call her again until Monday. Did you stay on the mega doses until all the hives were gone or just until they were better?
Thanks for the vibes.
-
DR Jane - Did your vet come up with the same diagnosis? Or were you and Keith just comparing symptoms and pictures (to put it simply)?
-
DR Jane - my experience with prednisone started with injections in the ER and a prescription for pills. When I went to the doctor at the end of the week, as directed by the ER, I told him, "Now I understand why they give this stuff to athletes!" I was wound up so tightly that I couldn't sleep and had a appetite like I'd had when pregnant. But, it did take care of the hives.
One of my mantras is: Everything's a trade-off.

Well, when I had hives and had to take prednisone... I had to continue taking it for a couple of days after my symptoms disappeared. You have to be tapered off the steroids, and I'm guessing it might be the same for canines.

Yeah, DR Jose, I also remember the "tapering off" part. I have a feeling something similar will happen when my doctor decides to try taking me off the blood thinners (after I get retired, he said last month).

Yeah, DR Jose, I also remember the "tapering off" part. I have a feeling something similar will happen when my doctor decides to try taking me off the blood thinners (after I get retired, he said last month).
Hmm... Interesting. After talking with my Mom and her doctors and nurses, it looks like she will always be on blood thinners. However, they will start tapering it off to a very low level - to the point where she'll just have to take one dose every couple of days. At least that's how I interpreted what they were saying.
-
That did it, thanks, Jose. Now, let's get some postin' goin' on! It's already nine - sorry, eight forty eight. I manually changed the microwave clock and the stove clock, so I think I'm okay save for changing the clock in the car. The Clock In The Car - that's the title of my next novel.
-
HA!
I'm watching the coverage of the ING NYC Marathon. I didn't realize that one of the commentators is riding right behind the lead runners. -And he's so close that they can hear him - or at least be directly acknowledged by them. ;)
-
DR Jose, I think the difference between your mom's case and mine is "chronic" vs. "acute."
And thanks for the tech tip for correcting the time stamp!
OK, now I'm off to vote!

Good morning, HHW!
The last Sunday of this election campaign.
-
There is no early voting in Manhattan. Probably because most voting is done by machines. If you want to vote early here you can do it by absentee ballot but it's too late for that now.
-
DR Jose, she didn't give it a name. We know she was looking for, and found, eosinophilic cells. We also saw them on the slide. And she treated it appropriately. Keith did a major search to find exactly what it is. Just looking at the photo is enough. First I want him better & then I hope his beautiful face isn't scarred.
The booties aren't enough & we need to find one of those big collars for him to wear. I hate those things.

Very good reporting on the football game, Matt; you are correct. And despite what AOL Televison has listed, the game being telecast is not a REPEAT broadcast.

The Centipede...
This guy was lonely and so he decided life would be more fun if he had a
pet.
So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an
unusual pet. After some discussion he finally bought a centipede,
(100 leg bug), which came in a little white box to use for his house.
He took the box home, found a good location for the box, and decided he
would start off by taking his new pet to the bar for a drink. So he asked
the centipede in the box, 'would you like to go to Frank's place with me and
have a beer?
But there was no answer from his new Pet. This bothered him a bit, but he
waited a few minutes and then asked him again, 'How about going to the bar and having a drink with me?' but again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet.
So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation. He decided to ask him one more time. This time putting his face up against the centipede's house and shouting, 'Hey, in there! Would you like to go to Frank's place and have a drink with me?
YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS......
A little voice came out of the box: 'I heard you the first time! I'm putting
my f++king shoes on!'

I don't have Quick Reply.
-
Here's a question: Does anyone here have both the Tony Awards version and the Ed Sullivan version of Turkey Lurkey Time (they must be decent and viewable quality) that they can upload somewhere so my choreographer can get them on his computer? I don't remember how all that works - otherwise I have to go to a place to copy my DVDs and I don't really have the time and if it's on the computer hosted at some place like photobucket for video, it would be really easy for him.

Just read the 1950s singer Yma Sumac passed away.
Yma Sumac, the Peruvian-born singer whose spectacular multi-octave vocal range and exotic persona made her an international sensation in the 1950s, has died. She was 86.
Sumac, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in February, died Saturday in an assisted living facility in Silver Lake, said Damon Devine, her personal assistant and close friend.
Bursting onto the American music scene after signing with Capitol Records in 1950, the raven-haired Sumac was known as the "Nightingale of the Andes," the "Peruvian Songbird" and a "singing marvel" with a 4 1/2 -octave (she said five-octave) voice.
"She is five singers in one," boasted Moises Vivanco, her composer-arranger husband, in a 1951 interview with the Associated Press. "Never in 2,000 years has there been another voice like hers."
After Sumac performed at the Shrine Auditorium with a company of dancers, drummers and musicians in 1955, a Los Angeles Times writer observed: "She warbles like a bird in the uppermost regions, hoots like an owl in the lowest registers, produces bell-like coloratura passages one minute, and exotic, dusky contralto tones the next."
Sumac's first album for Capitol, "Voice of the Xtabay," soared to the top of the LP charts. A handful of other albums followed during the `50s.
With her exotic beauty, elaborate costumes and singing voice that could imitate the cries of birds and wild animals, the woman who claimed to be a descendant of an ancient Incan emperor offered Eisenhower-era audiences something unique.
During her 1950s heyday, Sumac sang at the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. She reportedly made $25,000 a week in Las Vegas and turned down offers to sing with New York's Metropolitan Opera.
She was featured in the 1951 Broadway musical "Flahooley" and appeared in the films "Secret of the Incas" in 1954 and "Omar Khayyam" in 1957.
Although details of her birth date and early life vary widely, Devine said Sumac was born Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chavarri del Castillo in Cajamarca, Peru, on Sept. 13, 1922.
She later said she began singing when she was about 9.
After joining Vivanco's large group of native singers, dancers and musicians, she made her radio debut in 1942; she and Vivanco were married the same year.
In Argentina in 1943, she and Vivanco's group recorded a series of Peruvian folk songs. By then, she was known professionally as Imma Sumack (Capitol Records later changed the spelling).
In 1946, she and her husband moved to New York City, where they performed as the Inca Taky Trio, with Vivanco on guitar, Sumac singing soprano and her cousin, Cholita Rivero, singing contralto and dancing.
After making her name as a solo artist, Sumac toured around the world for several years in the `60s, but her popularity in America had waned by then.
In 1971, she recorded a psychedelic rock album that was not widely released, "Miracles," and "semi-retired" to Peru later in the decade -- at least that's what she always said.
"That's the legend that she stuck with all through these decades," Devine, who runs the Sumac website yma-sumac.com, told The Times shortly before Sumac's death. "She didn't want people to know she was here and not working. The story was good for her. She's a very eccentric woman. . . . Her whole career and life is based on her mystery and so the facts and fiction is a fine line with her." Sumac, however, did return to performing in 1984 at the Vine Street Bar & Grill and the Cinegrill in Hollywood. In the early `90s, she toured in Europe and continued to perform until 1997.
"The younger generation loves the music, loves Yma," Sumac told the Tampa Tribune in 1996. "The new generation told me many times: 'Miss Yma, we love you. Your music is something. It's out of this world.' "
Sumac, who was divorced and remarried to Vivanco in the late `50s and divorced from him again in 1965, is survived by their son, Charles, who lives in Europe, and three sisters, who live in Peru.
Services will be private.

Back from my early voting adventure. Forty minutes, which I didn't think was bad at all.
Now I'm going in the other room to watch skating and prop my feet up.
-
Had a nice Jacuzzi and will now relax until the matinee. I did the weekly weigh - two pounds lost, so I'm happy. Actually, just another seven pounds and I'm pretty much done with this phase of the diet. At that point, I'll probably cut back the jog to five days a week rather than seven.
-
Thanks DR Danise & DD Sheena.
DR FJL, Thank you.

I'm back from a lovely walk in the neighborhood. The dirt trail was comfortably soft from the rains without being muddy. The sun was shinning & the mountains were autumn orange.

Just read the 1950s singer Yma Sumac passed away.
I am not saying it was true, but my mother who was a singer, a pianist, and later a music teacher; said that she had been told by friends in the industry that Yma Sumac actually just reversed her real name (Amy Camus) and claimed to be from Peru, instead of the mid-west.
-
Well, it's been a lazy day so far, but no more. I need to take a shower, get dressed in my usher clothes, go to my sister's to help her move a large piece of exercise equipment into her garage, then go to the Washington Center to usher for S.O.G.O. (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/calendar/calendar_detail.asp?event_id=1042), the Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia. That starts at 4:00 pm, but I need to be there by 2:30.
-
After the ushering (however long it takes), I'll be off to my parents' house for some lasagna and if there's time, I will swap out some of their light fixtures. That shouldn't be difficult, but if it's too late in the evening, we'll have to figure the easiest way to turn off the power to swap out the fixtures, but have some other light source so that I can see what the heck I'll be doing...otherwise, it shouldn't take long.
-
So, I'm off. Have a good day, all! ;D
-
It eventually became warmer outside than in the house, so open came the doors and windows. I'm warming the house up instead of cooling it down!
-
I began my afternoon with Thursday night's SMALLVILLE which I watched as I cooked and ate lunch. Good episode though it looks like CHloe is up to something nefarious.
-
Then, I watched my work disc for the day: the new Criterion release of FANFAN LA TULIPE. I had never seen it before, and it's a rollicking romp that's a pleasure from beginning to end. Kind of a cross between TOM JONES and THE THREE MUSKETEERS, I truly enjoyed it even if it did have about three endings. Beautiful transfer, too.
-
This must be one of Criterion's "budget" releases (29.95) because there were really only three bonus features and that including the trailer and a bit of the 1997 colorized version of the movie.
I despise colorization, but I have to admit this excerpt is the best example of it I've ever seen, much better than any American film colorized methods that I've seen.
-
I concluded my afternoon (as I folded the laundry) watching an episode from season three of THE CLOSER. This was the one where Brenda and Gabriel have a serious difference of opinion over her arresting someone he feels should be given a pass on his crime due to all the good he has done for the community.
The upconverted image, by the way, is one of the best I've ever seen from a sDVD, especially for a television show.
-
Since I should have some time tonight before TRUE BLOOD, I may try to watch 27 DRESSES which I recorded off HBO-HD. I assume it recorded. I forgot to check. It comes on again tonight at 6:30, but I'm not sure I'll be downstairs by that time.
-
Thank you DR George.

I'm hopping off-line now to write up my work disc of the day. Then, it's downstairs for more viewing pleasures.

Good Afternoon!
Wow! The sun sure seemed to set earlier today. ;)

The Mass of Runners, Families, Friends and Onlookers along Central Park West was AMAZING! And INSPIRING too!
My brother's girlfriend finished in just over five hours - 5:04 - which was a great time considering she hadn't been training for a marathon in about four years. My other friends did rather well too, with one of breaking his personal best and finishing in 3:45!!
-
Pardon my lack of syntax. My fingers are still a little cold. And correcting posts on/via my iPhone is sometimes more effort than it's worth. ;)

DR Jane - Most races use a "chip" system now to track their participants. Each runner is given a tracking device - the chip - that they attach to their shoes (usually through the laces). This allows the race officials to track the progress of the runners, as well to provide a more accurate record of when they cross the Finish Line - and the Start Line. -Which is very important when you have 39,000+ runners starting over the span of 90 minutes.
Some runners even have a "lucky chip", and will use the same chip from race to race - as long as the transmitter is still working. They just have to register their chip number for each new race.
-
DR Danise - Good to hear that you're getting your new computer system up and running. *Of course, the easiest way to deal with Windows programs on a Mac is just to learn the Mac equivalents. ;)

Yeah, maybe! My mom had a lot of these behind the scene stories.

I just had a very funny phone conversation with my brother Randy. We are both wondering when the hell that property closing's going to happen, and we talked a bit about putting the property up for sale with a realtor. He makes laugh, and I really do miss him and JoAnn.
It's not being sold through a realtor now?
-
Maybe they mean a real realtor???
-
What the frell that means, I have no idea

But it gets us to page 5

After about fifteen minutes of torrential rain this afternoon, it has turned into a beautiful fall day. The sun is shining and it is nice and warm - as long as I don't go outside.
-
I will be gone from Monday evening until Thursday evening. I have to go up north of Seattle for training on our new computer program. My son has agreed to come in and feed his brother and sister.
Well, I should say that his wife and I decided that he would agree to feed his brother and sister.

On TV Tonight!
ABC - EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS
CBS - THE AMAZING RACE, COLD CASE, THE UNIT
NBC - NFL Football (Patriots vs. Colts, isn't it?)
HBO - TRUE BLOOD
SHO - DEXTER
And for the devotees of serious drama:
FOX - 8PM - The Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror XIX

It is very kind of DR, DS Jed to volunteer to feed his siblings ;)

It was so relaxing to sit with my feet up and watch the skating show with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Just what I needed after my hectic, but festive, last several weeks. Tonight, I think I'll watch some football - Colts v. Patriots - featuring some former Michigan stars.
-
DR TCB - we'll miss you while you're away!
-
I guess I'll futz around with some computer maintenance for awhile and then head downstairs to get clothes sorted for today's laundry and then start thinking about what's for lunch.

In many areas the early voting is still done by machine in specially designated polling places.

DR Danise - Good to hear that you're getting your new computer system up and running. *Of course, the easiest way to deal with Windows programs on a Mac is just to learn the Mac equivalents. ;)
-I forget - Why and for how long are you going to Pittsburgh?
Well, I have some programs that I really don't want to give up. I've spent to many hours with Cook 'n.
As for the trip, I'm taking Bear home to Mom. It's what she wanted and I gave my word that I would bury him with her.
I know I maybe should have waited until the spring but with the way things are going with the economy, I was afraid to wait until the spring or later. By doing this now, if I can't make it back up for a couple of years, my heart can beat easy.
I have to start working on my house and that won't leave much for taking trips! :)

It's going to be a quick one. Up on Sunday/back on Tuesday. I honestly don't know, td. So far, I have no plans for Monday night dinner and I'm scared to drive after dark. There is a place call "Bravo" just across the street from the hotel on McKnight Road.

This afternoon we took Sherlock for a walk on our road. It was nice to get him out. Fortunately we didn't see any of the neighbor dogs, who all would have been off-leash, unlike Sherlock who was on a leash. We don't want any dogs near his face until it heals. I'm glad we don't have a kitten.

This is the first time i've logged on today. My 3 year old niece came on friday for halloween. And she ended up sleeping over twice. She is a lot of work!
I'm just getting ready to watch TAR!
-
Thanks DR Jennifer. Your sister is so lucky to have you. I was afraid to leave my children with my sister. Lucky for me my niece was older and completely trustworthy. Said niece now teaches autistic children.
-
BTW
Hello from Montreal
ITS COLD!!!!!
Compared to Florida
It is cold. But it's so odd, it changes daily.
Friday night (halloween) was surprisingly very warm. It must have been mid to low 50s.
Today is freezing (like 30).
But in a day or two it is supposed to get warm again (60).
-
DR Jennifer will there be a Halloween photo of your niece?

It would not surprise me if that were true, DR TCB. I have heard that story as well.
-
DR Jennifer will there be a Halloween photo of your niece?
I didn't even take one. She had 2 costumes. One for daycare (she was a ladybug). ANd one for outside (it's too cold to wear costumes like that here, even when it's warm). She had a unicorn costume i got her 2 years ago. One of those snuggly ones. But she did not like wearing the hood part. So you don't see the unicorn's head!
I think her dad took a couple pics. But i hate it when other people take pics. Because they rarely take photos i like. When i'm doing it myself i know when i've got the shot i want.
Btw, megan was very good on friday. She loved it. She held my hand tight (it was very dark). But as soon as she got to the doors, she let go, and opened her bag. She was very happy with the experience~
-
In all my years of voting before Oregon switched to mail in ballots, I don't recall ever having to wait in line for more then a minute or so. In fact I usually found that the places were fairly empty.
-
Thanks DR Jennifer. Your sister is so lucky to have you. I was afraid to leave my children with my sister. Lucky for me my niece was older and completely trustworthy. Said niece now teaches autistic children.
My sis hasn't been feeling well, which is why my niece has been staying over so much.
One problem is that she doesn't want to leave. And she wants to stay over every single week.
My mom thinks that it's making my sister feel bad sometimes. Hopefully not.

Tomorrow i will hide the halloween chocolate and start eating better again and exercising a lot more. i'd originally just started "dieting" so my pants would fit. And once most of them did, i backed off a bit. But i think i'd like to continue so my really small pants will fit again. It's a shame to waste good clothes!

I was about to ask if your sister went out with on Friday. My sympathy & vibes for her. I'm sure it was very hard for her to miss Halloween.

Oh she didn't miss halloween. She was there and so was her hubby.

I had a very productive day, laundry, cleaned out the garage, cleaned out some of the eaves, sealed cracks around my stone porch, pulled some weeds and cleaned up some more things outside. I also installed some solar lights along my sidewalk.
My drywaller came this morning and finished taping and mudding. Then he left and said he'd be back in a few hours...he never came back. It bothers me a little, but even though I left the door open all day, I don't think it was totally dry, so it's probably for the best that he comes back later. Luckily that room has the sliding glass doors but the door into the rest of the house locks from inside the house, so I can leave the sliding glass door unlocked in case he wants to come back while I'm gone without worrying about someone else getting into the house

Good Evening!
Whew!
Even though I did not run/race today, all the standing around in the cold has tuckered me out a tad. But, just a tad.
*And I have to give major props to all the other marathoners who were walking about the Theatre District earlier tonight - including my brother's girlfriend, Maria. We ended up having sushi at Kodama, and there were other runners enjoying some post-marathon sushi at the restaurant too. I have a feeling that if I had just ran 26.2 miles, well... Something tells me I won't ever do that. ;)

DR Jane - Most major races have online tracking. It just depends on the race - and how much they have. However, some runners also run with portable GPS devices to track themselves independently (for training purposes).
-
DR DakotaCelt-thank you. We are hoping tomorrow will be a better day. It does look somewhat happier today, just somewhat.

Next time I have a friend in a race I'll ask for the tracking link. Thanks.
Did you read about the woman who won the San Francisco race, only it didn't count because she hadn't registered as an elite runner. ::) That just doesn't seem right.
-
I will DR Dakota.
-
Sometime done the road I would not mind getting a laptop...
-
Why am I suddenly thinking of Ricky Ricardo's accent?
-
I am trying to figure out the name of a war movie I saw when I was a child. No, Larry, it was a talkie. I believe it was a British film made in the late 50's early 60's. A World War II naval battle movie, but told more from a German standpoint, rather than an Allied treatment. It involves this German battlship or whatever, that manages to sink a large number of Allied ships, but the Captain always goes in and rescues the crew members from the water. At the end of the movie, the Allies show the captain no such kindness as they blast the ship to pieces.
Any ideas? I thought it might be THE BATTLE OF RIVER PLATE, but it doesn't seem to have been told from the German perspective.
-
What makes you think I am teasing?
Could be the fact that you're over there and I'm over here. . . . ::)
That would seem to be your problem, not mine!

Yep, I heard about that woman in San Fran. If you happen to run at a certain qualifying pace, then you are required to register an an "Elite Runner". And a Rule is a Rule.
-
It seems ridiculous to me. Any one should be able to win the race.

I get exhausted driving 26.2 miles.
Just like Fred Flinstone.
We have the same avoirdupois to be sure.

I believe, DR MBarnum, that they run when they see you coming.
By the way, you are going to love THE AMAZING RACE tonight.

Why am I suddenly thinking of Ricky Ricardo's accent?
Could be the unrehers and spon-tan-ee-us testa-money.

Great episode of TAR with really interesting Roadblocks.
-
Finished my food, all of it was very good. I'm quite full now, but then again I have half the stomach I had four months ago.
-
It seems ridiculous to me. Any one should be able to win the race.
Well, she still won the race, just not officially
-
Watching the Dr Seuss cake baking Challenge on the food network, and I really don't understand this thing about having to carry the cake to the judging table. Such a cake in real life would be wheeled to its destination, I think?
-
Runny Avoirdupois - wasn't he in City Of Angels on Broadway?
-
It seems ridiculous to me. Any one should be able to win the race.
Well, it would sort of be the equivalent of someone running the race, winning the race, but not officially registering for the race.
The registering of "Elite Runners" is also a safety issue. Most large races tend to group people according to their pace group in order to control the traffic flow along the course. Putting an "elite runner" back with the "regular runners" could lead to accidents from tripping and unnecessary jockeying for position.
Now, if I'm remembering correctly, the woman in San Francisco still had the top finishing time, but her disqualification caused to her to not be able to claim the prize money. But, technically - if not officially - she "won" the race. ;)
-
Turned just in time to see the winning cake, FJL, it was a great cake!
-
It seems ridiculous to me. Any one should be able to win the race.
Well, she still won the race, just not officially
And she felt good about it :) I still find it absurd one has to state upfront they will, or might win a race. I can understand setting a time the winner will be announced & if you don't make it by then, I guess ok.
-
I am truly shocked to learn that the new James Bond film, 'QUANTUM OF SOLACE' contains a scene of Daniel Craig without his shirt!
Shocking.....only one scene? What's the trouser report?
Well, it is only rated PG-13, so I am not counting on it.
-
If for safety reasons, how about two top levels then. After all she was there when they announced the winners. I bet she will register "elite" in all future races.

I must now eat my foodstuffs from Gelson's - a couple of egg rolls, some lobster salad, and a small thing of their righteous red potato salad. For my snack later, I have some cucumber roll.
Egg rolls, lobster salad and potato salad? That's a lot of hidden - and not-so-hidden (mayonnaise!) fat grams. But, calorically, it could still fall within your daily range. ;)

I am thisclose to making the switch to APPLE.....THISCLOSE.....
It is not a brand new one.....but it is a good price on a good computer with lots of extras.....we shall see.
C'mon, DR JRand, you know you want to!
Yes....yes....I know.....
-
If for safety reasons, how about two top levels then. After all she was there when they announced the winners. I bet she will register "elite" in all future races.
I haven't looked into all the details, but I'm guessing she was already an "Elite Runner" before she entered the race. I mean, anyone who finishes in under three hours has to know that s/he is an "Elite Runner".
-
She said she knew she was good, didn't realize she fit in the elite category or something like that.
-
Following the Dr Seuss Challenge, sort of a theme night - the Ingredient on Iron chef is
SPOILER
Ham!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
-
When she was good, she was very very good, but when she was bad, she was Elite
-
DR TCB it wasn't SINK THE BISMARCK was it?

I'd walk to old New York

She said she knew she was good, didn't realize she fit in the elite category or something like that.
Then she obviously didn't read the rules when she registered.
-
I don't remember. I don't think she expected to run such a great race. She also seemed to to handle it well.

I don't remember. I don't think she expected to run such a great race. She also seemed to to handle it well.
I know that mistakes can happen, but she had been training, and she had finished previous marathons around the 3:11 mark. That would definitely put her safely into the "Elite Group". -And all marathon application forms ask you to fill in your average race pace as well as your previous results. So, if she didn't read the application or fill it in properly, well... -Not a good example for a grade school teacher to set. ;)
However... Nike fudges, recognizes fastest marathon runner as "a" winner (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/10/22/BACI13MAIT.DTL)

Sunday night.....used to mean Ed Sullivan and Bonanza.
DR FJL is doing is Al Jowlson impression.
-
Wonder if they will ever use Spam as a secret ingredient on Iron chef?
-
Thanks for the link DR Jose. I think it is nice they called her a winner. I had the feeling she didn't put up a fuss, at least after the initial surprise, others did.
I never read anything about the "elite" group being a safety issue. If I'm remembering correctly not all races have this. Yes, if it was in the rules she should have noticed, but then I didn't seen the form or how it was stated.
-
I think everyone here on HHW could be considered elite.
And you know where the elite meet to eat?
Duffy's Tavern!
-
I hope dear Sherlock feels better soon.
-
time for to go to bed

Thank you DR Laura.

I wanted to ask, how are you all finding those neat things--like the games on facebook?
Hmm... That's a good question. And now to try to answer it. Hmmm...
You can start by checking out the "Boxes" tab on your other FB Friend's pages.
You can also search for "Games" in the Search box, and then check to see what appears under the "Applications" tab. -There's a lot of them.
I will say that I'd be careful about some of the Apps that ask you to "Invite ## of Friends" in order for the App to work. There have been some real concerns about the privacy level on Facebook, and no one really knows just how much information some of those apps are pulling from your profile. I will usually ignore any Apps that require me to do more than just sign up for it.
In the meantime, you can check out this link:
http://www.facebook.com/apps/
And starting clicking and exploring.

Here's a pic of my brother, Jay, and his girlfriend, Maria, at the finisher's area at CPW & 77th:

Well, even though I don't start working/playing tomorrow until 1:00pm, it looks like I'll be breakfasting and/or lunching with some family and friends... And since I'm already feeling sleepy...
Goodnight.

Sounds like SINK THE BISMARCK.

I did end up watching 27 DRESSES. A pleasant enough romantic comedy but predictable from the first moments to the end.
However, VERY attractive people including the ever-handsome James Marsden.
-
While I was waiting for TRUE BLOOD to come on, I rewatched the 2006 Olympic figure skating short program for the ladies. Didn't get all the way through it, of course, but how surprising to see some folks excel and some folks really let nerves get the best of them.
-
TRUE BLOOD - another excellent episode. The gay vampire is SO right about Amy being a psycho. Poor beautiful, stupid Jason is just too dumb to notice.
Lots of yummy nudity tonight. Jason and Sam are certainly two hotties.
-
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES had some nice surprises tonight, and the beginnings of some really nasty plotlines to come in upcoming episodes. The show is certainly on the upswing this year.
-
And I ended my evening watching the first 20 minutes of BROTHERS & SISTERS. Nothing much of interest yet.
-
Thanks - I got these from DR Sundee's facebook... this is a little blurry, but I think it's adorable.

Well, it hasn't been too good a weekend in the point counting department. I'm just hoping my activity will balance it out. Tomorrow I'm going to get back on track.

Cilla, your nephew is adorable

Thanks, I think so too

Heading downstairs now to read a bit and then go to bed.
Good night!

Let me get this straight - despite seeing people here, the last post was at eight-forty-eight. Have I got that right? Two hours ago?
-
Yes, you are correct DR MattH, Desperate Housewives is so especially good this year!
And LIFE ON MARS just keeps getting better and better. I got a bit teary eyed this episode.

I haven't done the Facebook extra's except for photos. I doubt I will.
I don't really do anything more that on Facebook or MySpace, either. Otherwise, it's just too high maintenance for me.

In all my years of voting before Oregon switched to mail in ballots, I don't recall ever having to wait in line for more then a minute or so. In fact I usually found that the places were fairly empty.
That's the same for me. I never really had to wait. Maybe it was just the time of day that I went in...usually around 8:00 or 9:00 am, before work. Now I just drop off the sealed ballot and get an "I Voted" sticker. :)

PAGE 10 DANCE!!

I went to my parents' house after the S.O.G.O. concert, but I didn't put up any light fixtures...not enough light. So, I'll go over there on Saturday and put them up before I have to be at rehearsal at 2:00 pm.
-
How goes it GEorge?
Glad you are staying busy...
-
Tomorrow morning, I'm going to the dentist! I just had a cleaning last month, but they said that I have a couple of fillings that should be replaced. The last time I had a cavity filled (and that's NOT a euphemism!! ;)) was when I was in high school, so it's time to get these swapped out...and it won't cost me very much, which is nice. :)

Get yourself a battery operated lantern from the camping supply section of your Wal-Mart or Hardware store! (They are nice to have around in case of power outages as well as changing parent's lighting fixtures at night.)

Don't give them any ideas!! It'll be easier when there's a lot of natural light, so Saturday morning will be better anyway...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Mine is from Lewis and Clark!
Your is probably better - waterproof!
