Title: THE WORLD IS A CIRCLE
Post by: bk on February 20, 2009, 12:24:10 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a circle without a beginning and nobody knew where they really ended, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently doing some Hermes Pan choreography.

The World Is A Circle

Here are the lyrics so you can sing along with the above video

sung by Diana Lee (Liv Ullmann) Bobby Van and Chorus

(Diana)

The World is a Circle without a beginning,

and nobody knows where it really ends.

Everything depends on where you

are in the cirle that never begins.

Nobody knows where the circle ends.

(Chorus)

La la la,

la la la la la la.

(Diana)

And just because you think you're small,

that doesn't mean that you're small at all.

And just the way a tiny branch is like a tree to a twig,

to someone else you are big.

(Diana & Chorus)

The World is a Circle without a beginning,

and nobody knows where it really ends.

Woooa!

Everything depends on where you

are in the cirle that's spinning around.

Half of the time we are upside down.

(Chorus)

La la, etc.

(Chorus)

And just because they say you're weak,

that doesn't mean you've a weak physique.

And even if they're partly right,

(Bobby)

at least they're partially wrong.

(Bobby & Chorus)

To someone else you are strong.

(Chorus)

And just because they say you're slow,

that doesn't mean that you're slow, you know.

And even if you're never first,

compared to someone who's last,

they're sure to think you are fast.

The World is a Circle without a beginning,

and nobody knows where it really ends.

Woooa!

Everything depends on where you

are in the cirle that never begins.

Nobody knows where the circle ends.

La la, etc.

The World is a Circle that never begins.

Nobody knows where the circle ends.

I managed to stay awake until almost 10 PM then I snuggled down in the recliner and dozed off. I woke up coughing  a few times during the night but managed to get right back to sleep again each time.  I finally woke up around 5:30 AM feeling rested so I got up and made Vixdad's lunch.

Hopefully I will have another good day and night....

Vixdad's sandwich du jour

Ham, cheddar cheese, honey mustard, lettuce and tomato on a Kaiser roll.  I have included sides of "light" Pringles chips and a Red Delicous Apple.

Vixdad says the computer is still not running right so this weekend he will be "tearing it down and rebuilding it".  So if I am not around don't worry it probably means we are just not "connected"

I have gotten a nice email from our neice (theone who married this summer) they are on their belated honeymoon in our timeshare and quite enjoying themsleves.  They went to Discovery Cove and swam with the dolphins.  My neice has been animal crazy since she was born and she is currently in university studying to be a vet so it was an absolute thrill for her to be so close to so many animals.

I thought of DR Sandra when I read about this and thought that would be something she would like to do.

I am here now. I was on early at around 5:45 as I was making breakfast. I ate, surfed the net, did my morning ablutions (for personal hygiene reasons, not for ritual purificaiton) and then came here.

That sounds like a nice sandwich for lunch. Perhaps I will have a turkey breast sandwich with mustard. I can have a Bosc pear or an apple along with my sandwich. And my ritual water or some orange spice iced tea.

Good morning, all!

I have nothing new to report this morning. DR Jose and I had spoken about seeing THE SEARCHERS today, but I've got a lot of BABES edits and PAL JOEY this evening, so I'll get to work now and talk to him when he's up and about.

I caught the last half of THE CLOSER last night; I had missed it on Monday by having dinner with John McGlinn's sister, Lorin. I thought Amy Sedaris was a hoot and I laughed through a lot of the episode.

TOD:
DVD: Still those blasted Netflix items!

THE BURRO OF BROOKLYN, a synopsis - A kid from Mexico anticipates his trip to NYC because all his life he's heard from relatives about the Magical Burro of Brooklyn.  He gets on the train, and keeps searching for the Burro, only to come to learn that it's a borough, not a burro, and that Brooklyn truly is magical.

Since the other party was likely UNinsured, I'm not certain what suing him would accomplish.   Perhaps, however, he can work out something in the way of "indentured labor" for so many hours.  DAW would have his own manservant.

This reminds me of one my family's favorite stories about when my parents moved to Utah right after WWII.  They moved to a tiny town south of SLC, and one of the (obviously Mormon) men came over, introduced himself to my Dad, and told him that the guys all got together at the "Stake House" (a Mormon church), so my Dad should come over.  Of course, my Dad thought the guy said "Steak House" and spent an hour or so driving the one main street of American Fork, UT looking for the correct cafe.   ;D

Just because the other driver is uninsured doesn't mean he doesn't have assets which can be liquidated to pay a judgment.  Trust me, I know from experience.  :)

I'm sure Cillaliz might have some more scholarly advice, but my recommendation is hie thee to a doctor today, whether or not you feel "fine."  That way you're setting the foundation for your untold millions of newfound lawsuit wealth.

You can do that, but if he's uninsured you'd have to see if he has any assets and if not then the claim would be against your own insurance.  I've had several accidents.  All but one was the other guys fault.  Other than the accident where I had whiplash and my dad settled for almost nothing (he wasn't in pain so apparently he wasn't concerned)  I have never sought any medical etc because I wasn't hurt.  Insurance companies are usually very quick to settle property only claims, just be sure you aren't hurt first (trip to doctor may be good for that). If your vehicle is totaled (which it sounds likely) and you don't have any injuries, you may have the $$ for a new car within days.  You will have to waive medical, but when I wasn't hurt, I was happy to do that to get a new car right away.

This does not constitute legal advice, blah blah blah

Back around 2000, the library from which I just retired installed a new projection system in our auditorium that made it very easy to show DVDs on the big screen.  We contracted with a licensing agency and started a series called Monday Movies that's still going on.  Until I got creeped out by a homeless guy who'd watch me instead of the movie, I served as projectionist from time to time.  I especially liked showing Damn Yankees and Singin' in the Rain.

We had quite a few revival houses in LA - the Nuart, the Vista, the New Beverly, one on Wilshire Blvd. near MacArthur Park (I always forget the name of it), the Encore on Melrose, and on and on.  It's one of the ways in which Nudie Musical got its cult.

Of course, the Nuart is still with us, but not so much a revival house anymore.  In fact, the only real revival house is the New Beverly.

Feeling much better now.  Not that I was feeling "not better" earlier, just still a little too drowsy and a little "head-stuffed".

We had quite a few revival houses in LA - the Nuart, the Vista, the New Beverly, one on Wilshire Blvd. near MacArthur Park (I always forget the name of it), the Encore on Melrose, and on and on.  It's one of the ways in which Nudie Musical got its cult.

It was at the Thalia, in 1980, that I saw THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL. I had such a good time that I went back for the last showing.

DR Jose, I just left you a phone message.

Most of my DVDs are packed away, but I'm going to try to watch the last 2 episodes of the most recent NIP/TUCK set this weekend...and I was sent a copy of ELEGY, which I'd like to watch.

But, most of my time these days is being taken up with packing for the Austin move.
We don't have a floor any more.  Just boxes.

I got your note after we talked! So we're off for the movie, which is fine with me, even though I'd love to see THE SEARCHERS on a big screen again.

Truth be told, the movie theatres in MoMA are more like screening rooms - the screens are not "big".  They're sort of a like a more comfortable version of the theatres down at IFC, Quad 4, etc.  But, I guess they are still 'big'.

*I always seem to miss the weeks that the Ziegfeld shows the classic movies there. Of course, there's always Thursday nights at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas ("Where dreams come true") with Hedda Lettuce. ;)

DR cillaliz re: addison being on Grey's and Private Practice last night. I don't really consider what they did last night a cross-over. The week before was a cross-over. But last night it was just addison on Grey's. So i barely watched it. Although i did see Private Practice.

The "crossover" only applied to the "Grey's Anatomy" portion of last night's line-up.  Yes, Archer (Grant Show) was on "Private Practice" again, but the episode was very self-contained otherwise.

Well... I need to get ready for the rest of my afternoon.  I'm playing a brief workshop/rehearsal/class in a few hours, and even though I've played the music before, it would probably be a good idea to look at it again before I step into the room. (Thus, no "Searchers" for me.)

I was rear-ended once. I was in a family way, and my doctor told me to sign nothing until the baby was born. The other guy didn't even try to blame me, which is good. I was stopped in a long line of stopped traffic on Central Avenue. Luckily I left plenty of room ahead of me so I didn't hit the guy in front of me, as Mr. Lessig taught me in driver's ed.

I had a bit o'trauma-drama myself this morning.  My car broke down at the very foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge on my way to work.  I immediately called 911 who put me in touch with an NJ State Trooper dispatcher who told me he was sending a trooper out.  After waiting and directing traffic to go around me for 45 minutes, I called AAA, who had a tow truck to me in 10 minutes.  He expertly got my car up on his truck bed and toted me and my car off to his garage where it sits even now.  A mechanic then drove me to my office.  They called about an hour later telling me that my engine was gunked up and that it will take till Wednesday before I will have my car back.  I will have to take a bus home tonight and then get myself a rental.

But ya know what?  There was just another police funeral at the Basilica of St Peter and Paul right across the street from my office building.  The officer was shot and killed last Friday night coming to the rescue of a taxi driver.  He was just 25 years old, was married just under a year and left a young wife who is pregnant.  I don't think my car problem is that big of a deal right now...

Immigration law has a big learning curve. I'm not surprised a lot of lawyers start to do it and then quit.   I learned a lot this week with the mistake I made and some conference calls I was in on. If they didn't change the rules and procedures on you constantly and if you didn't have to deal with a number of different agencies who don't communicate with each other, it may not be so bad.

Today, there was a period of time in my little office where you could hear Vietnamese, Ewi, Spanish and English all at the same time.  It was really cool and reminded me why I do this and that learning to do it right is well worth the time, energy and stress.  Now that I made it past this bump in the road, I'm feeling lots better.

Hello, various and sundried!

First off, thank you for the vibes, concern, advice, and general good will.  They mean more to me than you will know.

I am fine.  At this point, I don’t feel any ill effects, body-wise, though I realize that it is to soon to know anything definitively.  I’m sorry I haven’t been at HHW.  I’m juggling the insurance company, two towing companies, the doctor, the rental car company, and the police department.  Oh, and doing a few things at my desk at work.

But despite all that, I do truly consider myself blessed and thankful.  It could have been so much worse.

Please rest assured that so far, all is well, if a bit inconvenient.  I shall return to you shortly, when things calm down a bit.  And again, thank you.   :)

Topic of the Day:

In my CD player at work:  the new off-Broadway recording of The Fantasticks.  I just got it earlier this week.  I don't know why I waited so long.  I really like it. :) After that will be the new recording of Allegro. :)

In my DVR:  last night's two-fer of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice."  Set to record are tonight's "Psych" and "Battlestar Galactica."  I might not be home tonight to watch "Psych," and I still have the last three, count 'em THREE episodes of "BG" to watch.

I've been alternating between WQXR and WNYC.  As much as I like waking up to the NPR newscasts in the morning on WNYC, some of the music they play during the overnight hours is really not sleep-inducing (sleep-conducing ???).  Elliot Carter's compositions are definitely not meant for "passive listening".

No, I haven't been sitting here like so much fish.  I had to leave abruptly for the optometrist's office when I broke my glasses.  Now, 700+ dollars later (insurance covers about half, thank God), I'm back.  Can't really complain - I'd worn those frames for almost 4 years - but will have to wear my prescription sunglasses for about a week.

Is this mishap day at HHW?  Wasn't Friday the 13th a week ago?

We must be on a time delay, DR Ginny.

I'm gonna try to sneak out of the office early and get a car from a rental place that's just a few blocks away.  It'will cost a bit more to rent a car in the city, but it will be way more convienient for me.

I must say I am AMAZED at the prices folks here are paying for eyeglasses.  I've never paid more than $100 for a pair in my life.

I get my eyes checked at the VA (free!), and there I can also get a pair of seamless bifocals in really good frames for about $89.

With coupons sent to me quarterly by commercial optometrist shops in the Bay Area, I can get up to $100 off frames and still pay about $100 for the lenses and frames.  The prescription, of course, isn't chargeable as long as it's current.

I got my errands done late this morning, but it was cold. I was so glad I wore a heavy jacket out. Funny thing, there were SEVERAL people walking around the outdoor shopping center in shorts! It was 46 degrees out.

I watched BURN NOTICE while I ate lunch. Wonderful episode with some nice surprises (early on especially). Funny to see Clarence Williams III in a small role near the end.

I spent most of the afternoon with IRONWEED. It's 143 minutes long, and it's a bleak story, but for some reason I've always liked it a lot. (Most people I know would run screaming from the room if it was on.) The acting is so true, and there are great characters all over the place.

Couldn't believe Lionsgate released it on DVD in an open matte 4:3 transfer. It would have looked so much better and been much sharper if they had done an anamorphic widescreen transfer. Argh!

There was only one bonus on the disc. It was a photo gallery of stills (19 pictures).

Yep, it's a pretty much barebones release with very little thought or care put into its production.

The Act Three final edits are finished, as are perhaps aquarter of the appensix. tomorrow morning, I have to go into the office and deal with them, so that shoots down the possibility of an early movie with DR Jose, I'm sorry to say.

Right now I'm very sleepy and ready for a nap but i have to leave in an hour to meet my friend Chris for PAL JOEY.

That is not a "drama" face.  Angelina Jolie does not have a "drama" face.  Other genres, sure.  But Douglas Sirk quit making movies ages ago, and his was the only kind of drama she could possibly have made and been believable.

I need to catch up on posts and wil shortly.

TOD;
DVD--  "Shirley Valentine"

CD's two Bobbe Norris releases.  She must know I like her,so she released an LP in 1966 (never re-released and only in the hands of collectors for much dineros), an LP in 1986 recently re-released on CD and one from 1999.  So many authors and singers I like seem to go into seclusion and never write or sing again.   Pity, too!

I think Peggy Lee was one of of favorites who recorded more albums than anyone!  Possibly Rosemary Clooney, too (although she had to record so much of that mitch Miller stuff for awhile... but her voice.......)

Back from my travels.  Did the long jog, showered and was on my way to Mr. Geissman's.  We recorded all of Lauren's vocals, Jenna Romano's vocal, and finally Cason's.  Everyone did very well and the whole thing took less than two hours.  I then picked up a package that contained what will be the cover art for the new soundtrack release.  Got some fruit at Gelson's, which I'll now eat to hold me over till my Thai dinner at seven.

Since I'm not feeling all that hot, I sent der B to the store for a few items.  I wanted onions and Kitchen Basics Beef Stock, so I can make onion soup tonight, and some bread for the soup as well.  I reminded him to get the GDNP (that's a High Anxiety ref, for G..D... NewsPaper, for those who are interested).  And I asked for some ginger ale, which I always enjoy when I ail.

He came back with seven bags filled with "stuff".

This is not unusual for couples.  I see it all the time.  There's the one half of a couple who does the regular shopping, and that person is very methodical and logical about how that shopping is done.  They buy what they need, and stick to a budget.

Then, there's the times the other half of the couple goes shopping.  Their eyes get big, they mutter to themselves "Hey, this looks neat!", and their hands develop some kind of glue to which all manner of stuff is attracted, a glue that disengages when the stuff is hovering over their shopping cart, only to reactivate at the next "neat" item.  Supermarkets make a fortune off of these guys.

Der B will, at some point in the future, grumble because I'm not using all the stuff in my cooking.  "Why are you wasting money?" he will ask.  "Look at all these things we have here, waiting to be used!"

Like all the other one halves of the couples, I will simply sigh and shake my head.

It's my own danged fault, letting him do the shopping.

I shouldn't complain too much about der B's shopping.  He took advantage of a sale and bought... Morning Glory seeds!

He's teased me about my love of morning glories (and moon flowers) for years.  But they do add some color to the yard.

We've a "tree" out back, really a weed with a trunk.  I don't know what it is, but every year it produces these outrageously large, foot-wide dinnerplate leaves.  And it is tall - taller than the house, which, since it's growing in back of the house means that it's more than two stories tall.  And, of course, it grows right outside my back window, effectively blocking my view of the dell behind the house.

So, this year, I've decided to plant those morning glories around the base of the tree.  With any luck, they'll grow up and up and take over the entire plant.

Heck, if I can't see the dell, at least I'll have pretty flowers to look at!

 :D

I don't have a spare either.  My sunglasses are for distance only, not much good for anything else.  They are too expensive to keep a spare anymore.  I always save my previous pair.  Since I usually re-use a frame several times the old pair is really old.

Yes, I do, thanks. I have some trial prep to do for my 2 trials in March, but it's mostly organizing all the info I have and I don't find that stressful at all.  I leave for New Orleans Wednesday for a criminal defense meeting.  I am no longer on any boards or committees for that organization, so there will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the food, drink and music of New Orleans.  I will not be on a diet while I am there.

FJL, I'm not understanding the problem with the folders.  Open the folder and drag the photo into an e-mail - it will still be in the folder - it doesn't go anywhere.  Furthermore, if you're trying to post a photo, just take it to tinypic.com and upload it - again, you don't have to have it on your desktop - when you "choose" just first choose the folder, and it will then give you the contents of the folder to choose from.  Am I making sense?  Am I making cents?

But there is NO scroll function on the mouse that I can find - but who knows...

Well, I'll check them when I get home.  I was able to read the e-mails and reply on-line, but I didn't see any pictures, or even see that there were any attachements. :-\ What's up with that??  The sizes of the e-mails are 388KB, 192KB and 225KB, so you'd think that there were pictures attached, but I can't tell.  Hopefully, it's just some stupid thing with the on-line e-mail access and not some real problem.

DR JRand - Which OS do you have?  -Click on the Apple in the top left-hand corner, then "About This Mac".

Which kind of mouse do you have?  Does it have the little trackball on top? or is it the two- or one-button model?

As for opening your disk tray... Hmm... Do you mean for a CD-ROM?  If so, there is no actual tray - at least not on any models from the past eight or so years.  You should just have a slot where you insert the disc.  You then Eject the disc by dragging the disc "image" on your Desktop to the Trash Can/Recycling Bin.

Any other questions... Just ask. :)

What I can't figure out is how to move photos from his folder to the desktop without removing them from the folder

As bk mentioned, there is no need to move them to the desktop in order to put them in an email.  You can drag them directly into your email from the (open) folder.

Or, if you are using (Mac) Mail, then click on the "Photo Browser" button in the top right-hand corner of the "New Message" window.  Navigate to the folder with the photos, then drag them from there.

Or if Skip has the Photos synced with iPhoto, you can open iPhoto, select the pic(s), click on "Share", then "Email".  -After a few moments, a "New Message" window should open with the pictures in it.

Or... ;)

Well finally I am off to see Faith Prince and had to make some quick shuffling of my schedule. The paper said there was an 8pm and 10pm. I planned to go to the latter show and have dinner with friends before. When I called to book the ticket I was informed there was no 10pm. So 8pm it will be and no dinner with friends.

But will meet up with Alex Rybeck after the show.

Did you just book the ticket earlier today?

I'm sure Cillaliz might have some more scholarly advice, but my recommendation is hie thee to a doctor today, whether or not you feel "fine."  That way you're setting the foundation for your untold millions of newfound lawsuit wealth.

Two years ago a guy in a big car ran a red light going downhill and broadsided me, totalling my car. The driver had an ambulance take him away---his car wasn't even dented, and he wasn't hurt, but he was young and I'm sure he thought "Hey, this will get me out of work today!"

I had a session to get to, so Greg took me to work and I worked until about 8 that night.

One thing I learned was that i should have gotten examined by a doctor immediately, and establish that something serious had happened. By the time I realized that I was having neck problems, it was over a week later.

I have a few words of advice if you want to call this weekend, David!

I went through quite the sticker shock when I got my new eyeglasses last summer.  I knew that frames could run anywhere from $29 on up ($1000+), but I had no idea that lenses could cost so much.  When I lived in NoVA and Richmond, the Four Eyes chain was my Go-To place for glasses.  They always ran specials, and the price you saw on the frames was the price of the glasses (with plastic lenses).  I could always get a set for anywhere from $150-200.  Well...

After spending a good week looking for frames, I finally settled on two styles that I liked.  There were not cheap, but they weren't exorbitantly priced either - a "minor" splurge (titanium/gun metal).  However, due to my prescription - which is always worse than I think it is - and since I did not want to deal with really heavy, thick, non-indexed plastic lenses, I went for the high-indexed thinner lenses.  When the clerk started writing down the numbers, I think I started to feel a little queasy.  Thankfully, I had printed off various coupons: free eye exam, $100 of the complete frames/lens, and a free pair of "basic frames".  I did spend more than I had originally thought I would have to spend, but I also managed to save about $400 in the end - for two sets of glasses.

I did price the same frames and lenses on some "discount" online sites after I bought them, and I would have spent more if I had gone that route.

*And, I really do LOVE my new frames.  Truly the first pair that I really like wearing.

What did others think of Changeling?

I didn't like the score---it was so repetitive; seemed like one theme over and over...

I thought the characters didn't have much depth. They were pretty black and white, either good or bad, no grey areas.

The production design was beautiful, as was Angelina (although again, not tremendous depth to her character.)

I thought the editing was very skillful.

The best performance, to me, was the kid who broke the case. I spoke to him afterwards when I went to the premiere in NY. We talked about the ending of the film and what became of his character. Nice kid!

I am being entertained right now. Alas, unintentionally and for all the wrong reasons, but entertained  nonetheless. Bemused might be a better, the proper word.

Do they know that you are watching?

Yes, he knew that I was watching.  And they knew that I was watching. We were all watching.

Basically, a group of high school students were brought in for a two-hour workshop with a "Broadway professional".  They would learn part of a number from a Broadway show - music, blocking, acting, etc.  Well...

When I arrived, the "Broadway professional" - a.k.a. The Teacher - was looking over the music. For the first time.

Then the kids arrived, and he started "teaching".  Well, the number he was teaching was from a show that I know very well since I had actually worked on the show.  Needless to say, I just sat at the piano, playing the music and smiling... and "smiling".

I was sort of surprised that I didn't get irritated or frustrated with the situation, but since this was a "one off", and since the producer of the project was also in the room, well...  -And I was thanked profusely by the producer as I was leaving.  :)

I spent way too much for 2 pairs of glasses last year. I went to Pearle and when small scratches turned up on the lenses 90 days after I got them and I went back I was told that the replacement was only good for 60 days and I could get discount on replacements.  Well, it ticked me off so I just left. I'm still looking through the scratchy lenses a year later.   My "funky" glasses are my back up glasses.  I wear them once in awhile, but I really don't like them the way I did when I found them at the store.

If I actually lose all 70 pounds, which is starting to seem likely, I have decided to get new glasses.  I may just get lenses but if I can get a discount, I'll do the whole she-bang...at a different store!

My DSL connection is slowly getting back up to speed, but it's been a trying and tiring day. Last night, things couldn't have been smoother or faster. 10 hours later, I had no internet. WHY is this stuff so quirky and unpredictable?

I was making frantic phone calls today asking friends could I come and use their internet connections to upload my work project if mine didn't come back on-line. As many of you have gotten to know about me, I'm not a procrastinator. If something's wrong, I must make other arrangements instantly or I can't settle down. I can't stand for things in life not to run smoothly.

Anyway, tonight I treated myself to a Natalie Wood festival. First, I watched INSIDE DAISY CLOVER which I just received today from an Ebay auction I won. (I had no intention of buying the entire Natalie Wood collection when it was only DAISY CLOVER that I wanted.)

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this movie even if Natalie was too old to play a teenager convincingly (especially in the later scenes. She looks at least 30 in "The Circus Is a Wacky World" number). But it's so compelling, and Robert Redford is heart-stoppingly beautiful in this film. Love the score, the songs, the ambiance of the period, Ruth Gordon. It's a gem.

And I am so pleased with the transfer. It's sharp and the color is just fine. I wish there had been stereo stems so they could have fashioned a surround audio track, but it does sound just like I remembered it, so I guess mono will have to do.

I swear, Roundabout is the Bermuda Triangle of good musicals that get lost in their dreadful productions, from SHE LOVES ME to PAL JOEY. I didn't hate the production, although I thought a lot of the arrangements stank to high heaven and Graciele Daniele knows about as much about period 1930s hoofing as I do about neurosurgery. Too many (two - count 'em - two) interpolations, the loss of "Plant You Now, Dig You Later" one of my faves, too many uncredited lyric rewrites, and perhaps too much new book, the most curious rewrite being the elimination of the fact that Joey is only the latest of a string of kept men by Mrs Vera Simpson; I think one of the strong points of the original book is that she's as s;eazy as he is only she's got money and he's got only his sexuality.

There are some good performances, although the much-praised Stockard Channing performance is based on her great comedy timing; she was nearly always a half tone flat and Richard Rodgers would never have accepted her singing of "Bewitched." I also think the book and the director are wrong to sentimentalize her. I loved Martha Plimpton and I liked the rewrite to make her an aging chorine desperate to keep her job by any means. The production's aiming for a dark edge, but it's in the original; it's all in the direction to bring it out, i believe. I just didn't like the handling of the score and the new arrangements at all.

I always have a written list (which Woody doesn't see) and have routine stops to check for sale items (baked goods, ice cream, yogurt, etc.). The only items I brought home not for my sole consumption were scrapple (on sale), frozen corn (on sale) and some sour-cream dip (on sale). The only "impulse buy" was a 1lb box of Valentine chocolates marked down from $14.95 to $3.75. - and, of course, the morning glory/moonflower seeds.

I have been perusing the website FINDADEATH.COM. I know it sounds creepy, but it sure is interesting...lots of personal info on various famous people and photos of where they lived and sometimes where they died. My favorite parts are seeing where assorted folk lived...not always in the  kind of place you would have expected...for instance her is the tiny apartment that Madge Blake (Harriet from TVs Batman) lived when she died in 1969....

Can you imagine having her as your neighbor! What fun that would have been!

And the San Vicente Blvd apartment building that Cesar Romero lived in when he passed away....

At least Dan Blocker lived in a place befitting a TV star.

Annnnnnd, we're back.  Anything Goes is up and running.  The arrangements work pretty well, and my band has been fantastic in putting up with changes, new arrangements, and my mediocre conducting.  Tonight, at the end of "Easy to Love", my baton got caught on my stand light and flew over my shoulder and into the front row.  It appeared over my left shoulder within moments and the show went on.  I love this run, as we are done tomorrow night.  The kids really stepped it up tonight, and even though most of the content is over their heads (and their parents' head as well) the show still got laughs and the kids did a great job.

So, the show is up and now the Wii can come out of the box.  After my Liturgy meeting in the morning, the rest of the day will be set aside learning how this very popular game console works.  Now, to catch up.
