Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in three dimensions, and now it is time for you to post until the three dimensional cows come home.

I remember seeing the Stewardesses years ago. It was so bad that I walked out on it. The film was really more of a T & A film and not good enough to be camp.

Good morning, all! I've still got a lot of work on this huge number for Mr Raines. My plan was to be in bed by 11 PM and get up this morning around 6:30. The dog in the apartment above me decided to bark from 11 to 12:30 when his owner came home, at which point I had to listen to him make his usual going-to-bed noises before things settled down, somewhere between 1 and 2 AM. So I've sent a complaint to the landlord. I dislike neither the dog nor its owner but the barking has been going on too often and it's always around 11 PM. Perhap[s I'd be more tolerant if I didn't have a deadline and a lot of work.

Speaking of which, heigh ho, heigh ho!

More and more returns today.  things really did fall behind a bit while I was in Florida, and I remain grateful that the tax office let me even take the trip during tax season.

Larry - Maybe the fellow isn't aware of how loud his going-to-bed noises really are.  I'd bet he could control the noise level on those particular activities if he knew they bothered you.

DR FJL, I've complained twice about the dog's barking to him and nothing's been done. Perhaps if I'd been asleep at 11, I wouldn't have heard him come in around 12:30.  It's the BARKING DOG giving me the problem.

Yes THE CROWDED SKY was one of Troy Donahue's first movies at Warner Bros.  He had moved over from Universal-International where he had done a few movies.

THE CROWDED SKY is full of all kinds of  close-ups with voice overs as the passengers tell their "stories."  Patsy Kelly is fun as an agent who is dealing with a "James Dean" type actor.  John Kerr and Anne Francis are very sincere in their roles.....one of them plays a stewardess, but not in 3-D!

Good morning!

Looks like we're in for a slate of cold nights and pretty warm days. We're supposed to tip into the 70s today which will be great, but then back in the low 40s this evening. So the heat has to stay on to keep me from freezing to death at night.

I think I saw "The Stewardesses" at the Big Sky Drive-In (advertised and billed as being in 3-D but not in 3-D at the drive-in) with "The Big Doll House" and something else.  Of the various drive-ins in town they all had their pecialties (family, Seconmd-runs, etc.)  The Big Sky always ran triple bills of movies like " Motorbike Chicks from Hell" or something.

So BK, when are we going to see this film on DVD?

Also watched the hilarious promo you did for THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.

Last night, I was remembering how wonderful Saturday evenings used to be for watching movies on television.  At 9:00 p.m. there was SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES on NBC, where I saw a lot of memorable films.  Then after the half hour break for local news, there was always two or three movies on at 11:30, and sometimes another at 1:00.

When I was a teenager I used to drive my mother crazy staying up to watch all those glorious films.  Even though I managed to get the volume of the movie down low enough that my mom couldn't hear it in her bedroom; suddenly we would switch to a commercial for Ralph Williams' used cars that would be so loud it would rattle the windows.

BK's event yesterday

"An afternoon with David Lee"   Mr. David Lee was so right in his comment that everything in this country is being run by MBA's that know nothing of the field they are employed in.  He was referring to the arts, but tearing down LA's history is another example of the same thing.

See you later.

Speaking of SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES, I am still trying to find someone/where who can remind me what the 60s vintage theme was (the era when the show opened with the marquee lighting up).  That theme I posted eons ago was actually the CBS Movie theme, not NBC.

While I ate lunch I watched DAMAGES from WEdnesday night. Thankfully, this week, HD Showcase is back on track and the FX programs from the week are in HD. It does make such a difference to my enjoyment of the programs.

Anyway, some incredible turns of plot on this week's episode, and now with only two episodes left in the season, who knows where all of this turmoil is going. But it's certainly been a fun season.

I spent most of the afternoon (well, I had to since the movie is almost three hours long) with QVO VADIS. Had seen the whole thing in a long, long time, and it was, despite a couple of slow patches, very entertaining. Even though MGM was in the beginning of its decline, they still knew how to put on a show.

The Blu-ray is quite special. Yes, there are some specks early on that irritated me. It's not nearly as clean as THE ROBE was last night. But the color looks wonderful and apart from some of the matte lines and a shot or two out of Technicolor registration, it's an excellent representation of the film.

Richard and I just returned from attending 2 (well, one and a half) Anglican services this morning.  We ventured into northern Kentucky to visit the congregation whose pastor will be ordained priest at the same ceremony where Richard will become a deacon (May 9, 10am).  We went from there to our usual church in Cincinnati, arriving just as the sermon was ending.  Stopped for lunch at a noodle place and a short visit to Barnes & Noble.

I did pick up a collection of Art note cards from the Arroyo Arts Collective that are just to fun to pass up.
One side is the artists work, the other side is one of their favorite recipes.

The traditional artists have a recipe from the grandmother or mother or what they take to events and pot lucks.

Dear Ginny:    I did ask if there was a main web address and they suggested  www.laconservancy.org
I have not looked yet, but all other links should be there, hundreds.

for today's event the website is   www.heritagesquare.org

I picked up so many brochures I'm overwhelmed right now.

On Safari I couldn't get past page Two of the posts.  i had to switch to good old Firefox.

I am exploring my IMAC once again.  And it's nice to have it back.  I bought  USB book light to use on my keyboard since where I have the system set up, it is a bit dark.

Not a bad work day.....$512 - which is pretty good for six hours when most of your items are less than $3.

I watched Season Two of THE TUDORS last night - I really enjoy this series - even if my family seems to have disappeared from its history.  So many of the men look alike, though, that sometimes I am not sure who i am watching.

I do love the costumes, settings, and music.

And Anne Boleyn's execution in the French style was most distressing......

BK's event yesterday

"An afternoon with David Lee"   Mr. David Lee was so right in his comment that everything in this country is being run by MBA's that know nothing of the field they are employed in.  He was referring to the arts, but tearing down LA's history is another example of the same thing.

See you later.

LA has history?

Only partly joking.  I lived in LA county for the first fifty years of my life, and the place revels in it's impermanence, it's focus on the now.  My theory is that it's because most of the people who live there are recent arrivals - when I was in school, the idea of having even one parent who was born in California was an abberation.  (So, naturally, on my Dad's side I'm a third generation Californian, a genuine freak.)

The only real historic buildings that I remember from my schooldays were the Missions, from the days when California was still Spanish territory.  So, of course, what group are the the current uberconservatives trying to keep out... ?  (Dontcha love irony?)

Der Brucer has decided he doesn't want dinner.

His daughter and family came by, and took him to lunch.  I was, of course, at work (as I usually am on Sunday, which is very convenient for them because they can always say I was invited, too, but was at work).  Lunch was at the local Outback, where der B had the crab-stuffed shoeleather shrimp.  And the grandlads misbehaved while they all went shopping, which doesn't surprise me.

Lousy food, misbehaving grandlads... maybe I didn't miss that much.

But now I get to miss dinner.  Bleh.  Not good, when I've got one of my depressions coming on.

The mix took a long time, not that there was much to mix - but between getting each song up, then putting it into protools for levels and fades and such, and then bouncing the mix it was just endless.  We did take an hour break for lunch.  We finished, but I'll listen to the CD later to make sure I'm happy.  The one interesting things was hearing everything together - I'm really happy with most of the score now, which includes the new, improved version of Let 'Em Eat Cake.  There are two numbers not on the demo - one a reprise, and one a little throwaway ditty leading up to the audition sequence - I rewrote some of it after we recorded the track, and it's just not important enough to worry about redoing for the demo.  And we used one number from the previous demo and two from the film soundtrack.

President Obama is spending too much time on television shows.  Get back in the kitchen and rattle those pots and pans.

And on 60 Minutes, there was an "inspiring" story about a schizophrenic musician who spends a lot of time in a concert hall in Washington DC (I think) and his struggle with his mental illness.  OH AND GUESS WHAT?  Paramount is releasing a movie about HIS LIFE starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey, Jr.....  And they wonder why we have lost respect for television "journalism."  How can 60 Minutes let itself be used as a shill for Paramount?

Ah, the upcoming movie version of "The Soloist". -Which is based in Los Angeles, and the music hall in question is the beautiful(!!!!) Disney Concert Hall.

Did the "60 Minutes" story cover the ever-changing release date for the film?  It was originally slated to come out last year, but the studio wanted apparently shifted the release date in order to avoid getting lost in the "Oscar shuffle". -It was already generating some Oscar buzz last year.

I loved the book - which was written by the reporter, Steve Lopez, who "found" the homeless musician, Nathaniel Ayers.  When I discovered that Jamie Foxx was in the movie, well... And after seeing some of the previews and realizing that they've set up a "meet cute", well...  In any case...

Read the book.

And I also came across a listing for a DVD copy of tonight's "60 Minutes" story...

What an interesting evening I've had with my viewing. First I watched the "making of" documentary for QVO VADIS complete with comments from Dr. Drew Casper. I have to say that some of the pronouncements they made about these epic films and how they fare at the Oscars were ludicrous. (One person says they don't get Oscar nominations for acting in the leading categories, usually just supporting. Well, I guess Charlton Heston and Rex Harrison would have found an error in their calculations.) Argh!

I've known the people that run this company for about five or six years.  It's a small company, and there are basically only two people that run it.  No politics involved.  -And their Board of Directors seems to know that their primary function is to raise money for the theatre, and not to influence any of the artistic decisions.

As for taking sides, well... The only "side" I have to take is "behind the table".

And what is it with schizophrenics and Paramount, anyway?

I finished the Illya notes, leaving one little paragraph open for when Sondheim gives me the final verdict on whether anything of his is in the show.  He thought he recognized a couple of lines in one song, but needed to check his notes when he gets back in the city.

I can't wait for this!  Today, after the play selection committee meeting and after dinner at Applebee's, I came home and watched "Never On a Sunday" that I had recorded on my DVD burner and while watching it, I made chapter breaks so that I could burn it to a DVD, which I did. ;D

Sorry to be E and T...

DBF finally left today and this past week we spent doing wedding stuff and other projects. He also helped em with a big project. What a dear!

Any able bodied men are invited to come to fargo to help sandbag... We go from a blizzard less than two weeks ago  to a raging flood. That is what happens when you go from -20 to over 50 in a week.

Last week was nice and warm with temps in the 40s and no nights below freezing. It now raining. We have had over an inch of rain since 6 pm. Not a good situation on frozen ground.... I will try and be around this week.

~~~Stay Warm and Dry Vibes for DR Dakota!!~~~
Finished with the notes, and now must take a long hot shower, then write an Illya blurb and send mp3s to the webgal.
What a day off!  Not.  Just wrote the Illya blurb, and only have to send the mp3s in the morning.
Listening the demo - except my hoarseness and ragged vocals it's fun.
