Good morning, all! I went to bed around 9:30 last night and, thankfully, the dog upstairs was quiet so I slept quite well. I've got three parts to finish up for the long number and then I can begin the next one. The folks in Houston are getting anxious for the music so I'm off to work.

And, yes, I do read the notes every day, BK!

I'm hoping if I go early (around 11:30am) the line will not be enormous but you never know with the post office.

If the line is long I will get a haircut after work instead of going after I go to the post office.

I need a haircut very much, too, but have no time due to tax season, which is getting hairy (but in a good sort-of way, since being this busy means the economy hasn't hit the tax business for us yet).

And yet I'll likely force myself to find time to see FINIAN'S RAINBOW, because that's a once-in-a-long-time opportunity.

This year is a little unusual also in that Passover arrives April 8 or thereabouts, so many of our normal April 15 deadlines are now pretty much April 8 deadlines in terms of the tax office's religious Passover-observant clients.  But then after the 8th, there will still be lots and lots to do for the tax office, since some of the people I share duties with will be off for the three really holy days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the 9th, 10th and 11th.

MR BK - I started to watch TWO FOR THE SEESAW once when it was first on television about 50 years ago.....and I have to say I can't take Shirley MacClaine's forced "quirky" and just couldn't continue.  And she and Robert Mitchum both seemed years too old to be playing the people they were pretending to be.....I couldn't take it.

Faux quirky is my least favorite movie type.

Luckily the Canadian station that shows Life is showing it tomorrow. So i record that then!

Interesting? What's interesting about releasing a sequel as a feature-film? Especially since the the whole HSM franchise is HUGE!  All about da' money, DR Jennifer.  *And I think a full film treatment was the logical place to go - bigger budget, bigger production values, bigger movie.

Yes, they had proven their poplarity and deserved to go to the big screen for their swan song.

The next HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL reverts to the Disney Channel and will be without Kenny Ortega's expert guidance. (I think not having him is a mistakesince CAMP ROCK without him was much less entertaining than any of the HSM films).

Interesting DR DAW......it seemed in the late 1990's, Livevent was minting its own money....and maybe it was.

A press release says Jon Hamm will play lawyer Jake Erlich in the film HOWL! about the trial of Allan Ginsberg...and that TV's Perry Mason was based on Erlich......is this news to anyone else?  Or was he a friend of Erle Stanley Gardner's?

Maybe I wasn't clear - the show was called Rappin' and Rhymin' - and it was hoped that the show we were doing for video would end up as a series.  There wasn't a song called Rappin' and Rhymin' - there were six or seven songs within the show.

I guess I thought the project you were talking about for Hanna-Barbera was going to be a series, not just a song.....did it have a title?

Maybe I wasn't clear - the show was called Rappin' and Rhymin' - and it was hoped that the show we were doing for video would end up as a series.  There wasn't a song called Rappin' and Rhymin' - there were six or seven songs within the show.

Okay....got it.

Are skies blue?

You betcha...at least once, for Rudolph Friml!

The sky was blue
And high above
The moon was new
And so was love
This eager heart of mine was singing
Lover where can you be
You came at last
Love had its day
That day is past
Youve gone away
This aching heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
Im so lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while Im waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I grow lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while Im waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me

...And I still remember when I was in fourth or fifth grade and wrote a report on Martin Luther King, Jr.  My closing sentence was something along the lines of "...And that's how God meant it to be."  I then proceeded to use that for a paper on The Renaissance, the U.S. Pioneer movement, and Abraham Lincoln.  ;)

New York apartment vibes for DR Jose!

Thanks, DR Jane.  Everything is OK.  I think.

Basically, it looks like two of the four current residents will be moving out at the end of the current lease period.  Myself, not included.  However, one of them may be moving out before the lease ends - and will be finding a subletter.  But that roomie will be leaving town for almost three weeks soon, and wants someone to start subletting while s/he is away.  And since we only have a little over two months left on the current lease... And since we're supposed to give 60 days notice if we plan to vacate... And since our landlord has yet to inform us if the rent is going to go up (again) - or even possibly get lowered (which has been happening... And since I'm in Charleston until the end of April... But since I "know" I'm staying, I supposed to be the one to check in with the landlord regarding the new lease... Even though I keep getting reminded that all four of us are on the lease...  Yadda, yadda, yadda... Etc., etc., etc...

I really am OK with it all.  I just happened to get the "notice" the other night right before I was about to go to bed.  Not exactly news to help one sleep well.

Since the river flows north the channel deepens and widens as it goes north. I know in 1997 they were using garbage trucks in Moorhead on the manholes to hold them down due to the pressure from the water.

the area that is safe is west of broadway... THe four blocks within the range of the river are in the most danger especially in the Lindennwood, RoseCreek, Forest Hills and Cedar Run areas in South Fargo. They are along the river. Oxbow and Hickson are just to the south of that along the river. In Moorhead it is everything west of 8th and south of i-94.

Question for BK:
Now that the liner notes for Ilya, Darling! are done and it's too late to change them  :-*, do you include anything about Lehman Engel being fired as conductor out of town?  As I recall, he gave an interview to a newspaper where he was complaining about the direction musical theatre was going, and he said something like, "It's hard for audiences to develop sympathy for a one-eyed Turkish prostitute..."  Although he insisted he was not speaking about the current show (she was, after all, Greek and had two beautiful eyes), the remark was taken personally, and he was canned.  He mentions it in one of his books.

I watched Monday night's HEROES while I ate lunch. The identity of REBEL would have been a bigger surprise if I hadn't been paying attention to the opening credits. Still, nice seeing that character again. The "flight of fancy" sequence was quite magical with a big surprise ending.

But I do miss Nathan and Sylar when they aren't there.

Then, I watched THE YELLOW ROLLS-ROYCE.

The first segment looked kind of soft and the color looked dated. The other two segments were in much better shape, and there were some shots in the third segment that were of startling quality.

I assume the movie always had a mono audio track, but I'd love to have heard some of that delightful score in stereo or surround.

I scanned through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The boys were on in their new perilous plot. The ending of the show wasn't quite the big surprise they might have wished since this character has been rumored as set to return for months.

I'm assuming NCAA basketball will preempt the show for the rest of the week. The previews did have the boys but are likely from next week's episodes.

Of course I am still waiting for the release of the Met's DOCTOR ATOMIC.....still not at Amazon.com.
I am not enjoying the earlier production quite as much.

JRand, the DVD that's available HERE (http://www.amazon.com/Adams-Doctor-Atomic-Finley/dp/B001BSH18O/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1238014741&sr=8-1) obviously isn't the same as the performance that was just broadcast on the Met's hi-def opera broadcast to movie theaters (and is the earlier production that you don't like).  But is this recent hi-def broadcast also going to be made available for purchase?

I was perusing the Met's website and saw that they're going to show a documentary called, "The Audition (http://www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/broadcast/hdevents/index.aspx?id=7690)."

Coming in spring 2009, The Audition, directed by award-winning filmmaker Susan Froemke, looks at the intense pressures young opera singers face as they struggle to succeed in one of the most difficult professions in the performing arts. The feature-length documentary takes you behind the scenes at the Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions, where each year thousands of hopefuls compete for a cash prize, the chance to sing on the Met stage–and the opportunity to launch a major operatic career. The film covers the dramatic week leading up to the finals of the 2007 auditions, focusing on three very different tenor contestants: Michael Fabiano, a fiery 22-year-old grappling with his inner demons; Alek Shrader, a 25-year-old with movie-star looks who attempts to sing nine high Cs in the fiendishly difficult aria that made Pavarotti a star; and Ryan Smith, who at the age of 30, and with little formal training, is pursuing his dream of an operatic career.

The Audition is both a suspenseful competition narrative and a revealing backstage look at what it takes to make it as an opera singer.

This sounds very good. :)

Are skies blue?

You betcha...at least once, for Rudolph Friml!

The sky was blue
And high above
The moon was new
And so was love
This eager heart of mine was singing
Lover where can you be
You came at last
Love had its day
That day is past
Youve gone away
This aching heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
Im so lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while Im waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I grow lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while Im waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me

Except that's by Oscar Hammerstein and Sigmund Romberg!

Sorry, just trying to build a little suspense.  The one thing that is lacking in my apartment is counter space in the kitchen.  So, even though I swear I won't ever do it again, I tend to drop off the grocery bags on the stove while I unpack them.  This time, my luck rant out.  One of the bags moved the dial just enough to turn one of the burners on high.  Luckily, I was still in the kitchen at the time that the plastic bag exploded in flames.

I managed to put out the flames with only a slight burn to my thumb, a melted candy bar (that I didn't need), a burnt onion, and a few other damaged goreceries.  The house did fill with smoke, but the good news is that the smoke alarm works.

We are now looking into Tokyo Disneyland.  The last hour has been frustrating trying to find a package deal or whatever.  Seeing that Disney doesn't own their off-shore parks, none of the Disney travel agents handle their booking.  Since we don't know the area, we don't know what is close to the TDL resort, and what is not.  However, the DP is not set on anything at the moment, which is a whole other kettle of what is it, fish?

TCB...you can't just post something like that and leave!

Hey!  Just because the candy bar melted, doesn't mean that it's not still edible, does it??

Are skies blue?

You betcha...at least once, for Rudolph Friml!

The sky was blue
And high above
The moon was new
And so was love
This eager heart of mine was singing
Lover where can you be
You came at last
Love had its day
That day is past
Youve gone away
This aching heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
Im so lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while Im waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I grow lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while Im waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me

Except that's by Oscar Hammerstein and Sigmund Romberg!

LOL!   I knew that didn't seem right....got my Friml mixed up with my Romberg and Hammerstein.

That's why you're here, Larry...to keep us straight!  :D

Greetings from my brand new MacBook!  Richard and I had a delightful day in Cincinnati, starting with the not-so-delightful seminar about his health insurance.  Nothing earth-shattering, but there wasn't much new info for him.  From there we went to an exhibit of needlepoint renderings of the whimsical wildlife art of Charley Harper, then we went to the Apple Store in Kenwood to pick out my new computer.  While they installed the maximum amount of memory, we had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.  Picked up my MacBook and here I am setting it up and figuring out all the bells and whistles.

Ok, maybe I'm picky about this, but I am so sick of the newscasters saying "a" historic flood.  It's "an" historic flood. At least that's what we had drilled into out heads.. An if the consonant has a vowel sound. historic was one of the examples always used.

I began my evening watching another NCIS episode from the season two set. A weird episode with an unknown person who kidnaps women and puts them in underground rooms trying to brainwash them into becoming Harriet Nelson type-perfect wife from the 1950s. The identity of the perp was a real surprise.

Around 8:30, I began watching tonight's AMERICAN IDOL. I got the first four singers watched before I caught up with the show. I was shocked at all the positive stroes for Matt who sang my notes (especially in his upper register) either flat or sharp. The studio must have hidden the flaws, but  think when they watch the show back at home, they're going to be surprised at how poor he was.

But of the first four, Megan was undoubtedly the worst. I thought she was by far the worst I've heard of these finalists.

After rehearsal, I headed out with the gang to "Red's" - I think that's what it was called.  It's a bar.  Once we were all there, we raised a glass - or two - to one of the Resident Artists in honor of his birthday.  We also ended up with some unintentional entertainment.  Two of the bartenders were trying to dismantle a "TV Box" from above the bar... With a hammer and a crowbar.  We just kept watching for a while wondering when they would notice that if they used a wrench they could just unscrew the two brackets and the unit would come down.  Instead, they just keep hitting it with the hammer trying to dislodge it from the brackets, and using the crowbar to break down the two planks that framed the box.  About 20 minutes later, they "found" the two bolts that held the brackets in place, and using a wrench, they loosened the two bolts, and, lo and behold, the box was easily removed.  -Which was followed by a round of alcohol-induced applause from the crowd at the bar.

-And that's just a taste of the night-life in Charleston.  ;)

DR Matthew - I think I put you in touch with some people who could help you book a package for Tokyo Disney and/or Disney Sea.  *Although, I'd say if you're going to go to a Disney Park overseas, then go to Hong Kong Disney.

I know we should be going to Hong Kong Disneyland as it's rather struggling at the moment.  I really would like to see Disney Sea.  However, it's probably all a dream at the moment as we decided to wait to see about the situation in Mexico in a month or so.  It really is what we can afford now.  Paris and Tokyo are a little out of the budget at the moment.  We both agreed to calm down for a bit and see where we are in a month or so.
