Well, you've read the notes, the notes were PINK and provocative, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - you'll know when they do because they have the word PINK written across their ASS.
-
And the word of the day is: VIRAGINOUS!
-
PINK is KNIP spelled backwards.
I found that out by looking in my REAR-view mirror!
-
Workies.
I'd linger for a minute, but I've got to get der B up, so that he can break a large bill so that he can tip the guys who are bringing the "new" couch from the thrift shop.
Oh, the new couch is orange. Isn't that... colorful. ::)

ASK BK
Why did you decide to record Forbidden Hollywood "live' while the Forbidden Broadway albums were done in a studio?

Answering DR ViXMOM's question from yesterday,
I am going to Montreal to see my parents (Especially my father who I have not seen since last November)

All of a sudden I'm the Go To Man for presentations.
I'm part of a big presentation to our Board on Friday. We had a two hour rehearsal yesterday. Today I came in to find an e-mail asking me to be part of another similar presentation at the
Ford Foundation (http://www.fordfound.org/)
on May 27th. The next day, May 28th I have to help my boss make a presentation at her monthly manager's meeting. We have to show off a new internal database developed by two other staff members. Since I'm comfortable with computers and I added most of the content to the database (it amazes me that after 12 years my boss can barely still turn on her computer!) she wants me to help her in. Well, it looks good for me and it will blunt the effect of one of my goals for this year which while it may be completed, will only be completed under duress and it won't be completed in a way that the upper echelon will see as successful.
Back to the Kresge Foundation.
Then I have many
Program-Related Investments (http://foundationcenter.org/getstarted/faqs/html/pri.html)
to key and index.

bk, I have a strong suspicion that the PINK lady is a beginning jogger, like myself. Most of the reading I've done suggests that beginning joggers ease into it by running for a short stint and then walking, in regular intervals. In fact, most writers suggest taking as much as 3 months to work up to running for a full 30 minutes or more. At least, that is what I'm doing. [ Not the PINK part. The INTERVAL part. :) ] But my training watch beeps at the appropriate times to alert me, so I don't have to keep stopping to look at it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA
-
Good morning, all! Today I have a meeting at 10 with James Morgan of the York Theatre, and I doubt he will forget this morning's after Monday's debacle. When that's over, I have much to do around the apartment. I might even head down to the NYPL.
BK, I have had no word back from Mr G at Goodspeed. I asked him to call me.
!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to Our DR Sandra !!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy happy birthday to DR Sandra, who manages to keep me smiling even when she's not actually here

Hello, DR Elan! Good to see ya!!
-
I just discovered that we have a BOLLYWOOD ON DEMAND channel on our cable lineup.
-
I have filled 8 HUGE trashbags of stuff to dump. And that's just from one teeny corner of one of the many rooms that need to be de-cluttered. :P
-
BOLLYWOOD is sounding better and better!! ;)
-
Good morning everyone.
I got up early enough to say hello. Hello.
-
I just discovered that we have a BOLLYWOOD ON DEMAND channel on our cable lineup.
Aren't you afraid such a public announcement will mean the immediate arrival of public nuisance MBarnum?
-
Just a comment re: Pink. All the Victoria Secret's (the stores I see here anyway) always say "think pink" in their windows. Everytime I see that it reminds me of the billboards they made Hustler Magazine take down along Sunset Blvd., that read "Think Pink". I don't get why Victoria Secret's would use the same wording.
-
Well I'm a workie, must go.

I have been hit by the "tightening of the credit markets" that we've been hearing about in the news. The credit limit on one of my major cards has been cut in half, even though I've never come close to reaching said limit and pay my balance in full each month. The customer "service" chickie to whom I just spoke, said "Well, if you don't use that much credit, why have it?" I said, "That doesn't mean I won't NEVER need it." Then, she said, "Well, you can always request an increase if you need it."
No wonder the economy is such a mess.
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes, everybody! I have to go to a parking garage now.

re: tonight's AMERICAN IDOL
I'm sure at least one of the eliminations will be a surprise. Which is why the judges definitely should not have used the save last week. I would be okay with anoop going. Matt too. The only person i really do not want to go is adam. I will be sad though if allison has to go. I think the numbers this week are too close to call!

On behalf of Keith, thank you DR Michael S.

I'll be working on A PLUMM SUMMER unless something more pressing arrives in the mail before I start work around 1 p.m. It doesn't come out until May 5th, so there's time to attend to it.
-
Yes, I was very surprised by the close voting results on IDOL. I thought last night's show easily showed the strengths of the best as opposed to the weaknesses of the worst. The four best singers are Adam, Danny, Kris, and Allison. That means Lil, Matt, and Anoop should be in the bottom three, but with votes that close, anything can happen.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Sandra!!!

Exactly correct. It's a much-prescribed (http://www.lifecommstore.com/bonus/walkrunprogram.pdf) approach, especially recommended for folks new to jogging.
-
As for the PINK across the seat of her shorts, perhaps she's a huge fan of "Funny Face"!
She actually made BK "Think PINK", now didn't she! ;D
-
DR Sandra: From the depths of my soul
to the tip of my tongue,
I sing to thee "Happy Birthday!"

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I've been up since 5:45am... Just sayin'...

bk - The women jogger is doing what DRs DAW and Ron Pullliam said she was doing - otherwise, known as interval training. -Which is even a good thing to do once you're into a comfortable jogging/running routine - run 1 mile at a fast pace, 1/2-mile at a medium pace, 1 mile back at a fast pace, etc...
-
bk - As for the "PINK" sweatpants, those are from Victoria's Secret. -At least that's one of the tamer things that have been emblazoned on someone's bootay.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR SANDRA!!!!!

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS

Here is a handy tip - do not sneeze repeatedly when you have stitches in your abdomen
-
Hi, DR Vixmom! How are you feeling today?
-
I just discovered that we have a BOLLYWOOD ON DEMAND channel on our cable lineup.
That sound you hear is MB packing.
-
So...
After realizing that the ringing sound I was hearing this morning was my alarm clock, I managed to get myself together and head out to the door. This morning's presentation was being held over on Daniel Island (http://www.danielisland.com/)...
First of all, Daniel Island is beautiful. And Rich!! KA-CHING$$$ But, still, it is quite beautiful.
Once I found the proper club house where the Rotary meeting was being held - the tennis courts had their own club house, as did the pool and the golf course - I managed to find my group of people. We were all a little bleary-eyed, but they had coffee and juice for everyone in attendance, as well as breakfast: eggs, bacon, sausage, Belgian waffles and fresh fruit.
We had all originally thought that we would be singing and playing at 7:30, but it turned out that it was the meeting was starting at 7:30. -But the free coffee and breakfast more or less made up for that - if there was anything to make up for. In any case...
It was interesting sitting in the meeting, observing their procedures, as well as the social interaction among ll the members. About 20 minutes in, we gave our presentation, and everyone seemed in surprisingly good voice for that hour of the morning. -Our soprano even sang a cut of "I Could Have Danced All Night". At the meet and greet afterwards, a bunch of members came up to us telling us how much they had enjoyed the show, and that they were planning on seeing it again this weekend. :)
-
I just discovered that we have a BOLLYWOOD ON DEMAND channel on our cable lineup.
Please, please, please... If you end up ordering a kurta, well... I'd rather not know. ;)
*Are you on Comcast? I know my parents have a Bollywood channel on their Comcast service in Richmond.
-
BK I know what you mean about those shorts -- for the past several years sweats, shorts, etc for girls and teens have been emblazoned with lettering across the seat.
I could never understand those mothers that bought those items for their girls - why do you want to attract every passing eye to your daughter's posterier?
-
Hi, DR Vixmom! How are you feeling today?
Better now I have stopped sneezing
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SANDRA.
-
It has been raining here for the past two days and today looks to be sunny and relativley nice.
I am glad because my brother is taking th afternoon off to have a building inspection done on the town house he is planning to buy and offered to bring me a long for the ride so I could get a little fresh air and walk a little
(the doctor wants me to walk)
-
I sneezed once after surgery. Once.

That sounds like a lovely way to start the morning! Is this Saturday your last show?
-
I sneezed once after surgery. Once.
I feel your pain!
-
I'm going to head down now to check the mail and then get started on lunch.
WBBL.
-
In other news...
After this morning's presentation, I had to stop at a gas station to fill up my tank. When I went inside to pay, I noticed that this particular gas station had a display of some of my favorite Mexican treats (pastries, cookies, nuts, etc.). So... I haz snaks! ::)
Then once I got back to the apartment, I decided to go ahead and iron my tux shirt since the iron and ironing board were still out from earlier this morning. Well, since I was ironing my tux shirt, I went ahead and ironed the other shirts that had just come out of the laundry. So, overall, a pretty productive morning.
-
How is your dear sister doing, Laura? She continues in my prayers
-

We close on Sunday afternoon. -Then I fly back to NYC on Monday morning.

Hi, DR Vixmom! How are you feeling today?
Better now I have stopped sneezing
A nurse once advised me to hug a pillow if you feel a sneeze approaching.
-
Well, I must get a small bite to eat and then go pick up my aunt...bye for now!
-
Hi, DR Vixmom! How are you feeling today?

A nurse once advised me to hug a pillow if you feel a sneeze approaching.
After my mom's heart surgery, the hospital provided her with a "therapy bear". If she needed to cough, practice her breathing, sneeze, etc., she was told to hold the bear in a particular way in order to help prevent any sort of injury.

I could never understand those mothers that bought those items for their girls - why do you want to attract every passing eye to your daughter's posterier?
Well, if they are with their daughters in public, it takes attention off the mother's behinds many of which certainly call attention to themselves for different reasons!
(Now THAT's a snark!)

It went slow. It went fast. And now it's going really fast. -And in two weeks I will be flying to the Philippines!
-And, yes, I will miss Charleston. I've had a really wonderful time while I've been down here - even when I haven't been eating. ;)
-
Well my liddle brudder will be here shortly so I should go fix my hair
-
Ginny - good luck to you and your aunt today!

Jose I just took a video tour of a couple of houses available on that island - there is one I could be very comfortable in - now does anyone have 1.3 million to loan me?
-

Those houses(!) confused me when I first drove into the "Island". We were told to look for the big clubhouse by the gold course. Well, there were a lot of houses near the golf course which I thought were large enough to be clubhouses. It turned out that they were just "regular" hou$e$.
-
And now...
Good Afternoon!
-
To nap, not to nap. -It's my last full day off here in Charleston, and, I'd really rather not sleep through it. Hmm... Maybe just a cat nap.
-
Meow.
-
More Charleston photos please.
-
Have you visited the Huguenot church?
-
DR LAURA did you really drive through Mooresville?
-
Yes the new Airport is known in these parts as Las Vegas East.
-
Have you visited the Huguenot church?
Yes, I have. And I'm even considering attending their French service on Sunday morning. -I also seem to be fascinated by the church cemeteries here. Some of the headstones and mausoleums are quite ornate and beautiful. -Along with the whole sense of history and family.
-
More Charleston photos please.
I'm in the process of editing the boatload of photos I've taken over the past couple of weeks. I also need to buy another external hard-drive since all those pictures have taken up lots of room on my MacBook's hard-drive.
-
DR Jose, the Corner Bakery on 84th and Broadway opened yesterday. Took them long enough! I passed it on my way back from the meeting with Mr Morgan but I did not stop in. Things are afoot.
I think I shall work on Mr Loesser's score for a while.

I sneezed once after surgery. Once.
About 10 years ago, I fractured a few ribs in a fall. The tissues around the ribs swelled and caused my lungs to be compressed, so I was in quite a bit of pain.
My doctor gave me two types of drugs....one I could take during the day. I could drive and still get along nicely as long as I was careful. The other, I took at night. DR Jane would have LOVED those pills.
At any rate, I was at work one day, standing at a file cabinet. I pulled a file out of the drawer and immediately had the urge to sneeze. So powerful was this urge that I didn't have time to "think" about it.
I dropped to my knees at the agony of it. It took about five minutes for the pain to pass.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Sandra!! ;D
-
Hello, everyone.
A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR SANDRA! I hope your 8th birthday is just as much fun the second time around!
-
As for the PINK across the seat of her shorts, perhaps she's a huge fan of "Funny Face"!
She actually made BK "Think PINK", now didn't she! ;D
The show Angry Housewives also has a song called "Think Positive," which has the line throughout, "Think positive, think perky, think pink!"
Or the singer Pink could have a line of clothing. ;)
-
Congrats to singdaw on his decluttering. Isn't it AMAZING how much you can get rid of and not even make a dent in it?
-
Continued vibes to the courageous VIXMOM and all DRs who are ailing.
-
I woke up this morning with so many things on my to-do list that I didn't even know where to begin. Then a crown fell out while I was eating breakfast. I guess that made my decision for me. Oy!
Off to find a dentist.
-
~~~~~GOOD DENTI$T VIBES TO DR JEANNE~~~~~
-
Yes, it is much easier to acquire things than to un-acquire them.
Editing the photos is a good way to re-live a nice experience DR JOSE. Be sure to save a program so you can match the faces to names later on.
-
Well, I have a few more things to tidy up around here, and then I'm either going to take a nap or head out to Sullivan's Island - I think a walk on the beach would be a nice way to spend the afternoon.
Laters...
-
Well, last night I went to see the first preview of Seattle's 5th Avenue production of Sunday in the Park With George, starring Hugh Panaro as George. Visually, it was stunning! The projections are so cool! Vocally, it was wonderful! Hugh Panaro has a great voice (and he's very nice to look at, too). Billie Wildrick was Dot/Marie and did not copy Bernadette Peters. I'd seen her in a show here in Olympia and one of the Village Theatre readings in Issaquah. She's very good. The rest of the cast was quite good, as well. The only weak link was the Boatman/Dennis (this was a different doubling than the original). He was lacking vocally (but not bad) and over-acted the Boatman a bit, but he was touching as Dennis and gave a different spin to him than Brent Spiner. He's a Seattle local and the audience liked him. Patti Cohenour was very good as Yvonne/Naomi Eisen. I love her voice. And the "Chromolume" effects were cool! I can't even begin to describe it. I wonder if it's how the London and Broadway versions (upon which this production were based) were done or if they created their own "vision." I MUST SEE THIS SHOW AGAIN!! ;D
The best part was that my regular seat was the second row from the VERY back. I went to the box office and asked if I could move closer (and pay the difference) and I was moved to row D, seat three...the fourth row! It was INCREDIBLE being that close! I never want to sit that far in the back again!
-
And now...to work!
Until later!
-
Wow...DR GEORGE....it sounds great. I really want to see a nice production of this show, since I never have! LOL......
And yes sitting closer makes a BIG difference!
-
DR SWW will soon have his regular driving license which is a good thing.
And of course we must have photos of the coucher l'orange.
-
I got a TDF ticket for Next to Normal next Thursday, May 7th. I'm excited. I really liked it at Second Stage last year and I'm looking forward to this new production.
Now I just have to get a ticket for 9-5.
-
How is your dear sister doing, Laura? She continues in my prayers
She has finished the radiation treatments and the rest of the chemo will begin early in May.
-
JRand, we were on the freeway heading westbound. I saw a sign that said Moorseville.
No more sneezing vibes for DR Vixmom!
Just remember:
We are not a codfish.
-
Getting ready for rehearsal. We lost another ensemble member today.....who wanted a lead....and now after two weeks just can't "justify" the time spent driving for so little to do.
-
I got a TDF ticket for Next to Normal next Thursday, May 7th. I'm excited. I really liked it at Second Stage last year and I'm looking forward to this new production.
From what I heard about 9 to 5 at the meeting, I'd say save your money.
-
Ginny - good luck to you and your aunt today!
Well, we've survived the appointment with the gastroenterologist, who told her exactly what she didn't want to hear: that he cannot diagnose her without a certain diagnostic procedure that requires an icky preparation. She's putting it off for now, until her 4-week treatment for anemia is completed.
I think she needs another kind of -ologist.
-
Happiest of brithdays to our Dear Reader Sandra! Time for some pink birthday floop!
-
DR EDISAURUS!!!
-
You are being a very good niece, DR GINNY.
-
Ginny - good luck to you and your aunt today!
She's putting it off for now, until her 4-week treatment for anemia is completed.
There was nothing he could give her or suggest she do to possibly alleviate her symptoms? There are plenty of problems that don't show up from that test that requires a yucky prep.
-
It was a little too cool to sit on the porch while lunch was cooking, so I sat at the laptop in the kitchen and surfed the net instead.
-
I watched last night's RESCUE ME while I ate lunch. A little more comedy on this week's show than usual, and it was very funny indeed.
-
I also went back and rewatched some of last night's performances from IDOL (which I hadn't yet erased from the DVR). I guess people are voting for Lil Rounds because the judges have been so snarky toward her, but honestly, she's not very good at all. She has a loud voice; that's about it.
-
Last night & this morning I used a very expensive over the counter product called Zanfel. It is a gritty wash for poison oak. I actually think it helped. My right arm is still very swollen so today I called the dermatologist for a prescription ointment. I will be picking up the prescription as well as another tube of the Zanfel. It is only a 1 once tube & there seems to only be one tube left at any of the pharmacies I checked with. I hope I never need it again, but better safe than sorry.
The pharmacist also suggest I purchase Ivy block. Of course I would never have thought to use it the night we were exposed.
-
I spent most of the afternoon with A PLUMM SUMMER. It's an OK family comedy-drama. A little too much of a hodgepodge to score well in any area: there's a mystery, there's a first love story, there's family angst with the ne'er-do-well father not pulling his weight with his family responsibilities, there's comedy with a couple of humorless FBI agents.
Some fairly big names in the cast: Henry Winkler, Jeff Daniels, William Baldwin, Peter Scolari, Brenda Strong.
-
I had time to get to the bonus features, too. A talkative audio commentary (it was the director's first film, so she's very enthusiastic about it), a gag reel, some deleted scenes, the trailer, the premiere party, and some behind-the-scenes video set to "They're Gonna Put Me in the Movies."
-
BK I know what you mean about those shorts -- for the past several years sweats, shorts, etc for girls and teens have been emblazoned with lettering across the seat.
I could never understand those mothers that bought those items for their girls - why do you want to attract every passing eye to your daughter's posterier?
Because they want their daughters to understand early in life what it means to get a bum wrap?
-
DR SWW will soon have his regular driving license which is a good thing.
And of course we must have photos of the coucher l'orange.
The only way der B is going to take pictures of that couch is if one of his favorite birds perches on it.
-
Just remember:
We are not a codfish.
Of course not.
"We" is plural. "A codfish" is singular.
The correct phraseology would be "We are codfish."
Unless, of course, you are a carp. But that's a different kettle of fish.
-
I'm hopping off-line now to do some writing. Then, it's back downstairs to watch some stuff for fun before tuning in to the usual shows tonight.
WBBL.
-
It was a little too cool to sit on the porch while lunch was cooking, so I sat at the laptop in the kitchen and surfed the net instead.
I am very jealous.
-
You are being a very good niece, DR GINNY.
Maybe so, DR JRand, but a great niece wouldn't be getting so weary from these trips.
-
Ginny - good luck to you and your aunt today!
Well, we've survived the appointment with the gastroenterologist, who told her exactly what she didn't want to hear: that he cannot diagnose her without a certain diagnostic procedure that requires an icky preparation. She's putting it off for now, until her 4-week treatment for anemia is completed.
I think she needs another kind of -ologist.
There was nothing he could give her or suggest she do to possibly alleviate her symptoms? There are plenty of problems that don't show up from that test that requires a yucky prep.
Yes, DR Jane, he did tell her to continue the prescription and OTC meds that he's prescribed in the past. He also ordered an interim sequence of testing that you don't really want me to describe.
-
I have filled 8 HUGE trashbags of stuff to dump. And that's just from one teeny corner of one of the many rooms that need to be de-cluttered. :P
But it's earth day, shouldn't you be donating or recycling this stuff ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR SANDRA
-
Hi, DR Vixmom! How are you feeling today?
Better now I have stopped sneezing
A nurse once advised me to hug a pillow if you feel a sneeze approaching.
After my mom's heart surgery, the hospital provided her with a "therapy bear". If she needed to cough, practice her breathing, sneeze, etc., she was told to hold the bear in a particular way in order to help prevent any sort of injury.
*My niece, Emily, liked it too. :)
Time to go home. I am taking tomorrow off. My brain just hasn't been into work this week. I've gotten a few new clients and turned some others down, but I really don't want to be here - so the lawn sprinkler system guy comes at 8:00 AM. It hasn't worked since I moved in and they don't have a map of where the lines are (or claim they don't) so I'm going to ask him to show me so I can plant a garden. And I'm going to get an estimate of what it would take to fix it. I don't like using it because it takes all the water that goes into the house and puts it into the sprinkler system, so I have NO water while it's on, but it would be nice to have my lawn watered again and I could limit it to once a week or just enough to keep the grass alive.
-
I'd also like to get a hair cut (well all of them) and a friend is liquidating her late husbands construction business and selling all the tools. She's going to meet me out there tomorrow to see if I want to buy any. Cool!
-
And it's supposed to be 86 degrees tomorrow, but it's going to start raining on Friday and rain through the weekend. So if I want to do yard work, I've got to do it now.
-
DR Cillaliz - enjoy your day off tomorrow! And send some of that warm weather this direction, OK?
-
Well, our chicken 'n' rice is beginning to smell good, so it's time to get some veggies ready to go with it...bye for now!
-
As you probably have figured out, Time Warner strikes again - no Internet service from before eight this morning until five minutes ago. I also think you can guess what sort of conversations I've had with them today, right up to the top of the corporate ladder. What a bunch of inept peckerwoods - this JUST happened three nights ago, when I had to post the notes in the middle of the night because they'd been down for three hours.
-
ASK BK
Why did you decide to record Forbidden Hollywood "live' while the Forbidden Broadway albums were done in a studio?
Because frankly I didn't think the "humor" would play without the audience reaction - the Forbidden Broadway parodies are different in that regard.
-
I shall now take the Birthday Girl to get her piece of Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake.
-
Just remember:
We are not a codfish.
Of course not.
Golly! Ya just had to suck the life out of it, dintcha! :D
It's a movie quote from "Mary Poppins":
"Close your mouth please, Michael, we are not a codfish!"
Is that why CASTRECL has "scooped" HHW vis a vis House of Flowers pre-orders?
-
I never thought I'd be saying this, but:
Thanks for defending my honor, DR Ron Pulliam! :)
-
shouldn't you be donating or recycling this stuff
:)
Well, first off, no one would want this stuff...don't know why I ever saved it.
And yes, I will certainly be recycling it all! I just used the trash bags as an easily grasped metaphorical aid.
-
Sorry. Here's the info on House Of Flowers - pre-preorders as always via paypal directly to our paypal address of kritzerland at adelphia dot net. 19.98 plus 3.75 shipping.
HOUSE OF FLOWERS
Kritzerland is proud to present the first ever CD release of the 1968 Revival Cast Recording of House Of Flowers, with a score by Harold Arlen and Truman Capote.
House Of Flowers originally opened on Broadway in 1954, where it received tepid critical notices, although both score and cast were praised, and how could they not be? The show, based on a short story by Truman Capote, didn’t last long. However, Capote had thought that production was too big, too Broadway – “I wanted it to be a simple thing,” Capote had said. And so in 1968, Capote and the show’s original producer, Saint Subber, revived the show for the first time – not on Broadway, but at the 299-seat Theater de Lys off-Broadway, in a simplified, pared-down version. As Capote said at the time, “This is going to be the show we meant to present.” Sadly, even the simplified, pared-down version received tepid notices and folded quickly.
Whatever audiences and critics thought of the show itself, the score remains a glorious thing, filled with one incredible Arlen/Capote song after another, including several that have gone on to become standards, including “A Sleepin’ Bee,” “Don’t Like Goodbyes,” “Two Ladies In De Shade Of De Banana Tree,” and “I Never Has Seen Snow.” The off-Broadway production was directed by Joseph Hardy, and featured a terrific cast – Yolande Bavan, Josephine Premice, Daniel Barrajanos, Charles Moore, Tom Helmore, Thelma Oliver and others.
The revival was fortunate to receive a cast album courtesy of United Artists Records. This cast album is a very different beast from the original Broadway cast album – there are fantastic new arrangements and orchestrations by the then up-and-coming Joe Raposo, who would go on to legend status for writing some of the most beloved children’s songs ever for Sesame Street. His work is much funkier and much more in tune with the Caribbean flavor of the score and it’s a constant delight to hear where he takes the score. Also, there are new numbers not originally featured in the Broadway version, which makes this a must-have for Arlen and show completists – they include “Somethin’ Cool To Drink” which features one of Arlen’s most delectable melodies, and the rousing “Jump de Broom.”
This revival cast recording of House Of Flowers is tuneful, fun, well-sung, and, as Capote said, “… a simple thing” – and in all the right ways.
The CD is a Limited Edition of 1000 copies only.
The price is $19.98 plus shipping.
CDs will ship the first week of June – however, as those who’ve ordered directly from Kritzerland know, preorders placed directly through Kritzerland usually ship one to five weeks ahead of the street date.
Well THAT post certainly sent everyone off to take a cold shower now, didn't it??
-
Just make sure we know about Julius here first. ;)
-
I have spent the past two days watching the absolutely amazing PLAYING SHAKESPEARE, a British series from the late 1970s and early 1980s. I highly recommend it to everyone. The RSC digging deep into texts and character approaches. Fascinating.
-
I also had my first play-through this morning of Act I of THE PRODUCERS with my Key II person. I have some absolutely mad synth patch switches, unfortunately a lot of them in Opening Night. I guess that's best, though--get them over with up front. :)
-
And just in case you think my life is all fun and games, I have also spent the last 2 days mowing the backyard lawn. I still have about 1/3 to go.
I'm teasing you in a way. I threw out some things just this morning that no one would want and there is no way to recycle them. It just made me laugh to see your post on earth day. I think I'm going to go out and trim some more bushes while there is still light. Now that my 7 containers of trimmings from the bushes have been picked up I can start filling them again.
Our landfill uses the organic waste to make methane that is used to make ethanol. So, it's great. Just fill up whatever containers and they haul all the yard clippings away
-
I think this House Of Flowers will be a real pleasant surprise to those who go for it - we've already had a nice response from castrecl people - less so here.
-
Right now there is a big "Go Pink" campaign here as the town gears up for the first Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in Sioux City. That's the run/walk I'm doing. I won't have "PINK" written across my butt but may do a little of the walk a little run a little. (is that like pick a little talk a little?)
The stores are all putting up "pink" displays - it's kind of cool to see
-
Good afternoon everyone.
Dear Ben, cool.
Happy Birthday Sandra.
Dear George, glad you enjoyed the show. It looked visually wonderful.
Dear MattH, thanks again, Criminal Minds tonight.
Happy earthday to Mother Earth.
-
Dear JR, I have maybe 20 photos from camping in the 70's, but can't remember the names. And I took the photos.
Dear DAW, 8 bags congrats, I'd help defend your honor, and again your funny.
You are being a very good niece, DR GINNY.
Maybe so, DR JRand, but a great niece wouldn't be getting so weary from these trips.
That makes you an even kinder niece, you do it in spite of getting weary.
Well I must go write out the bills, still use checks and the mail, the old fashioned way.
And what to listen to ? Must stay positive while paying bills. I guess that means Guy Haines.
-
Hi Jane.
-
Hi Sam
-
I was loading laundry, again. I keep washing our clothes, towels, etc. in Tecnu as my rash continues to spread. I picked up a script for an ointment. The pharmacist looked at my arm and said I should be taking steroids. :( Keith continues to improve. At least the small area behind my ear & on my neck is much better. It is somewhat encouraging.
-
Sweet.
I didn't know there was a special way to protect yourself when sneezing after surgery. Everyone should be taught this special way.
I have this terrible fear the pain meds will make me throw up which is bound to do a bit of damage.
Speaking of Shakespeare, according to my Futurama calendar, tomorrow is his birthday! However, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Shakespeare) says that his exact birthdate is unknown. "His unknown birthday is traditionally observed on 23 April, St George's Day. This date, which can be traced back to an eighteenth-century scholar's mistake, has proved appealing because Shakespeare died on 23 April 1616."
JMK, are you watching this on tape or DVD? I just ordered this series on DVD from Amazon, but they're not shipping until June. How did you score a copy of this? I'm assuming this is the John Barton series...I've been waiting for this for a long time. I have the book from the series.
And before I forget - since I almost did... Well, I did forget, but at least I called today - just one day late...
HAPPY 43RD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TO MY PARENTS!!!!!!
*I actually remembered it was their anniversary yesterday, I just forgot to call. ::)
-
New furniture is being delivered as I write this.
-
And since I didn't forget to call a little while ago...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY NIECE AND GOD-DAUGHTER, EMILY!!!
She's hit the BIG THREE!!! :)
-
New furniture is being delivered as I write this.
Drop any more lamps today? ;)
DR George - RE: Sunday In The Park With George - From what I understand, the version you're seeing in Seattle is basically a remount of the recent Broadway and Donmar warehouse production. -And, yes, those visuals are AMAZING! And it was nice to finally see a Chromolume that made sense.
-So, who did "Dennis" play in the first act?
-
Re: American Idol's Disco Week, and the musical guests -
Disco is dead. Meet the zombies.
-
Happy anniversary to DR Jose's parents and happy 3rd birthday to their granddaughter Emily!
Last night & this morning I used a very expensive over the counter product called Zanfel. It is a gritty wash for poison oak. I actually think it helped. My right arm is still very swollen so today I called the dermatologist for a prescription ointment. I will be picking up the prescription as well as another tube of the Zanfel. It is only a 1 once tube & there seems to only be one tube left at any of the pharmacies I checked with. I hope I never need it again, but better safe than sorry.
The pharmacist also suggest I purchase Ivy block. Of course I would never have thought to use it the night we were exposed.
DR Jane - Have you always been this sensitive/reactive to poison oak? I hope your latest round of medicines and treatments help to alleviate the itching and stop the rash from spreading.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Happy anniversary to DR Jose's parents and happy 3rd birthday to their granddaughter Emily!
I think your parents were lucky to begin a family so soon. We had to wait 7 years.
-
VIBES TO DR JANE~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR Jane - my aunt just had her 80th birthday on Monday. The interim tests are non-invasive, but require a degree of patient participation that I'm afraid is beyond her. My biggest challenge right now is making sure her 90-year-old sister (my mother) doesn't try to do too much for her - like her grocery shopping. My cousin and his wife will be here in a couple of weeks from GA and we'll probably have a pow-wow.
-
And now for some pictures...
When I headed out earlier, I decided to head back down to The Citadel (http://www.citadel.edu/) to take a picture of the front gate. -They do not allow guests on the campus unless you're an officer, parent of a student or a prospective student. So..

What a day this has been. What with the stupid Time Warner stuff, an endless lunch/work session and some pretty lousy Kung Pao chicken (but I was so hungry I ate most of it), and then finally getting back on the Internet at three-fifteen and playing catch up ever since. I had fifty-something e-mails to deal with, a bunch of orders to print, and the House Of Flowers liner notes to finish. I finished those about thirty minutes ago, then ran and got two copies of the Nudie script made, one of which will be winging its way to a NY producer tomorrow morning, along with the down and dirty demo we did. I just picked up a Subway turkey sandwich for dinner and I shall now go eat it.
-
DR Jose previously I have only had a couple of truly bad bouts with poison ivy. Since moving here I have had numerous small to medium sized patches of rashes. I always seem to take a LONG time to get over it. Remember as a child I was sure I was a princess since I would have felt the pea ???
-
I just spent the last couple hours tearing out really old bushes and all sorts of brambles etc. I barely made a dent but what I finished looks great. The problem is what to do with all the bushes I've cut out. I think I'll call Jerry the handyman in the morning and see if he'll haul it all away for me.
-
Thank you DR Cilla.
-
DR Ginny I do hope your mother won't over exert herself. Is your aunt so bad she can't shop anymore? :( I'm glad your cousin will be out soon.
-
The Citadel is in the Hampton Park area of town. So, I walked around Hampton Park for a while. There is a gazebo that is surrounded by rose bushes...
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3645/3466476581_2630721cd5.jpg)

My neighbors arrived home while I was out working. I told them what I was doing and that I really wanted to figure out a way to take out this big tree stump out there. I think my neighbor had a few glasses of wine with dinner...she looked at me and said "Wouldn't that be wonderful, the stumps just look so.....stumpy"
-
In the middle of the park is a small "lake" and fountain. When I first saw "this", I thought it was a fake, a sort of statue. But when it started to move, well...

The actor playing the Boatman played Dennis. The actor who played Franz played Lee Randolph...who was played as VERY obviously gay and VERY attracted to George. ;)

DR Jose - your Charleston travelogue has made me really want to visit there!

WARNING FOOD PORN AHEAD!!!!!
Since tonight was going to be my last night to have a proper meal at FIG (http://www.eatatfig.com/), I headed back to FIG once again for dinner.
Tonight's Appetizer: Keegan-Filion Farms Chicken Live Paté, pickled onions, arugula salad, toasted brioche
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3571/3467290228_a6bc55c2a9.jpg)
-
lovely photos DR Jose.
-
LOL-I said lovely prior to viewing the food post ;) Actually I like liver paté.
-
DR Druxy are you happy with your new furniture? I usually live in a house for awhile before purchasing furniture for it.
-
The only other change in the doubling as compared to the original production was that Mr. and Charles Redmond were played by the same actor, which I didn't realize is how the revival was re-doubled.
-
Tonight's Entree:
Keegan Filion Farms Chicken "al Mattone", Anson Mills farrotto, English peas, spring onions, garden carrots, herb salad
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3511/3467289812_050dfba376.jpg)
-Accompanied by a glass of Elderton "Tantulus", Shiraz(68%)/Cabernet Sauvignon(32%), 2006, South Australia
The "al Mattone" preparation is "under a brick", although in this case, they use a weighted press. It was deboned except for a portion of the leg bone, making it very easy to eat. And it really was one of the best roasted chickens I've ever had, seasoned and cooked to perfection.
-
Well, I must now leave and go home to do some laundry. :P But it needs to be done...of course.
Until later!
-
'night!
-
My order for House of Flowers will be in the mail tomorrow morning! I have written the check and addressed and stamped the envelope. It's now up to the postman.
-
And then to finish off tonight's veritable feast...
Molten Chocolate Cake, Chocolate-Caramel Ice Cream*
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3512/3466475051_73fb3ca83a.jpg)
*The molten chocolate cake is normally served with their Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, but since they started serving the Chocolate-Caramel Ice Cream last week, well... And since I did get up at 5:45 this morning, well... ;)
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3493/3467289118_a5971dbf70.jpg)
-
Oh my, I'm drooling here. I wish it had been served with mint chocolate so I would not want any. Chocolate-caramel ice cream on the cake sounds, and looks, divine.
-
DR Jose, Keith wants to know if you have had a blood sugar test recently ;D
-
I understand today is Secretary's Day (or whatever the PC term is). I missed it.
-
Should you have been acknowledged, or acknowledged someone?
-
'night
-
I gotta tell you. I'm exhausted.
-
I understand today is Secretary's Day (or whatever the PC term is). I missed it.
Administrative Assistant's Day. I took Edith out for Japanese food on Monday
-
Forgot to mention that I was so agitated over the Internet thing this morning that after going about five blocks on the jog I turned around and came home.
-
I didn't know it was Administrative Assistant's day until Monday when it showed up on my Outlook Calendar
-
DR Jose, Keith wants to know if you have had a blood sugar test recently ;D
No. But when I got dressed for the Rotary Club event this morning, I was very happily able to wear a pair of dress chinos that I wasn't able to fit in comfortable just four months ago. :)
-
I have been to the Citadel many, many times. My cousin Carl went there in the early 1960s, so my aunt and uncle and I made many trips to Charleston. Later in the decade, my brother went there and graduated. He was married in a chapel there after his graduation, and I was his best man.
In between those two periods of time, I attended summer camp there (a month long sports camp my parents basically shamed me into attending).
-
I had a fun evening of viewing. I began with today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The boys weren't on, but the business with the kidnapping and ransom certainly took front and center time for Lily, Holden, and Damien.
They were in the previews for tomorrow.
-
Should you have been acknowledged, or acknowledged someone?
Both, probably.
-
Nice photos, Jose. I especially like the turtle.
-
Next, I watched THE LOST BOYS on Blu-ray. It's a silly, fun movie. Jason Patric is absolutely gorgeous, one of the great beauties of his day, so why didn't he have a bigger career? (SPEED 2 did him no favors, I know.)
The transfer was impeccable and the sound (Dolby TrueHD) just wonderful.
-
And just in case you think my life is all fun and games, I have also spent the last 2 days mowing the backyard lawn. I still have about 1/3 to go.
The job will go a lot faster if you get a larger pair of nail clippers.
-
Next, I watched another NCIS episode with Ducky in danger of being killed by a man his evidence sent to prison. Good show, and Nina Foch appeared as David McCallum's mother.
-
Page Nine Dance!!!
-
Next came tonight's BETTER OFF TED. Another funny, silly episode. Portia di Rossi's deadpan performance is really hilarious.
-
I really hadn't planned on watching tonight's LOST recap, but since nothing else of import was on for me, I did watch it on the DVR. Sometimes these recap show have additional information or emphasize something glossed over on previous episodes. I didn't feel like this one did anything except maybe organize what's been happening for the past two seasons and especially this season.
-
Hmmm.. I'd consider a trip out to LA for this summer for this:
Ellen Greene Will Be Adelaide in Hollywood Bowl Guys and Dolls; Casting Nearly Complete (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/128080.html)
-
And I had time to skim the results of tonight's AMERICAN IDOL. I do think the two sent home deserved to be going home. I had no problem with the five left standing as the five best of the finalists.
-

I've had the same reaction. Finding out what's happened to Daniel will have to wait one more week.
(Now we all know how Chas Dicken's original readers felt reading his novels for the first time.)

You are so right about that. I put shows like LOST and '24' in that same framework of serialized storytelling, and both have been superb this season.
-
Unless something pressing arrives in the mail tomorrow, I suppose I'll begin on the ALEXANDER KORDA'S PRIVATE LIVES box set. Charles Laughton's HENRY VIII is the first film in the set. I just watched it on TCM not two months ago, but I'll gladly watch it again to see his marvelous performance.
None of the four Korda movies are all that long, so if there's time tomorrow evening before prime time begins, I may try to get another one watched. If I can do that, I can get the box done in two days. The Eclipse releases never have bonus material.
-
I guess it's time now for me to head downstairs to bed.
Good night!

I have spent the past two days watching the absolutely amazing PLAYING SHAKESPEARE, a British series from the late 1970s and early 1980s. I highly recommend it to everyone. The RSC digging deep into texts and character approaches. Fascinating.
JMK, are you watching this on tape or DVD? I just ordered this series on DVD from Amazon, but they're not shipping until June. How did you score a copy of this? I'm assuming this is the John Barton series...I've been waiting for this for a long time. I have the book from the series.
Yes, it's the new DVD of the Barton series, which will street in June. I got a review copy for my reviewing gig. They usually don't have the Acorn product go live this early, but my editor already posted my review (he may not have realized that Athena, the label of record, is a boutique label of Acorn):

I got two other Athena releases, both of which are so far exceedingly good. I have the BD of the Ted Koppel China documentary THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CAPITALISM and the early 2000s series THE ADVENTURE OF ENGLISH.

Well, I have another sort of early morning tomorrow/later today. They're doing a walk-thru of the Dock Street Theatre at 9:00, and I definitely want to see what the still-in-progress renovations look like. So...
Goodnight.

Interesting and odd casting for Guys and Dolls - probably the first ever production where the Hot Box "Girls" will all be close to sixty years old.

Good night.
Happy Thursday.
Good vibes to all.
House of Flowers, ordered.
