PANDICULATE
PANDICULATE
A panda who speaks without grammatical errors?
Today is the 6th Anniversary of my first appearance on
BBC Radio Wales Showtime (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0079grj)
starring
Beverley Humphreys (http://www.beverleyhumphreys.com/)
While it hasn't been a consistent gig, I'm still very happy and proud to be connected with the show. I was last on this April 12 and hope that the remaining 6 reviews will be played sometime in the near future.
And the word of the day is: PANDICULATE!
Greetings from Toyland!
That is all.

That's stretching it.

Please, sir! I want some more!

TOD: Ethel Barrymore's double-take when Jean Harlow, in "Dinner at Eight", said she had been reading a book.
I finished packing this morning, and then headed out for a bit to run some pre-trip errands. My train doesn't leave until 4:00, so I still have a few hours to "edit" my luggage and to draw up my list of "Chicago possibilities". I do know that I will be spending a few hours at the Art Institute of Chicago. Other than that, I'm basically playing it by ear. I'll be staying with my friend, David, and he's mentioned a few places he'd like to show me. It also looks like there will be a mini-Theatre-VCU reunion on Saturday or Sunday. :)

That's Marie Dressler, not Ethel Barrymore.

There was a news report just this morning that a school in the Seattle area is closing until next week because of 6 probable cases of swine flu (http://www.komonews.com/news/local/44055787.html).
Have a great trip, DR Jose, and scope out some things Richard and I can put on our "to-do" list for when we're in Chicago in July for ALA! Your train doesn't go through Fort Wayne, Indiana, does it? I should be there by 7pm or so!
During commercial breaks on last night's "Lost":
Does anyone know what to make of those strange commercials that showed a small insert video on a black background of (1st commercial) a wedding, (2nd commercial) a surfer and (3rd commercial) school kids exiting a school followed by the words "What did you just see?" (or something like that)????
My Microsoft Outlook has an email "preview" feature. You can read the contents of an email without actually double-clicking and "opening" it. I wonder how that registers in bk's statistics??
As far as no-shows go, I cannot tell you how many times people who had set up appointments for job interviews (a governement job, a couple of law offices, a behaviral health company, a retail store) wopuld not show up. I thought I was dealing with adults. If someone bothers to call, ask about a job and set up an appointment to come in for the next day, why wouldn't they show up? It used to be joke no matter which type of job or which company I was working for that I would schedule 10 people, and I'd be lucky if 1 or 2 would actually show up. I cannot imagine not showing up for a scheduled appointment.

I do love Lost's surprises, especially the endings. But i agree with DR Jose on this
one. I did not find the "whose my daddy" surprise at all surprising. I'm not saying
i thought of it before last night's show. But it seemed like it was likely from the
rest of the show. I had the same feeling with miles' "whose my daddy" reveal. I
sort of wish that when they announced these things i would be "oh wow" instead
of saying it out loud before they say it. But still good show. Interesting twist. More
interesting that Eloise is an Other. And why she sent daniel. Hopefully he's not
gone! ui iu l blah blah blah one two three foiud doiufoiufoiu jlk jkl iu oiu four five soi

DR MattH, i don't watch HARPER's ISLAND. But isn't that the show that CBS swore they would show in its entirety. No matter what. There was a big article in the paper. And it said it would go till july something.
Interestingly, the Canadian station that is showing it has it scheduled for tonight. So i think they are going to continue on schedule. IF they do this then the next episodes will be out there, which is sort of weird.
Interesting stats: For the House Of Flowers eBlast, of the close to 1800 people on the Kritzerland list exactly 788 have bothered to actually open the e-mail. I find that so weird - the people on the list have either asked to be there or have purchased other soundtracks or B'way-related CDs from us, and the header clearly states that the e-mail has info about a new CD release, so it's a little peculiar. We do get the usual "out of office" or "on vacation" replies, but those aren't very many.

Is that the official name of the "The Eagle"?
Speaking of restorations, Mr. Larry Moore, did you have anything to do with restoring Robert Russell Bennett's original orchestrations for
The King and I (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/128768.html)
which will be playing at Lyric Stages in Irving, TX?

From the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music," comes the first of many "songs around the world" being released independently. This amazing version of “Stand by Me” brought a smile to my face, and I hope it will do the same for you.
Watch it from beginning to end—you won't regret it. This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world!
It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician named Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz's added metal percussions.
From there, it just gets better and better: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals, which were assembled into this final final version -- all done with a simple laptop and some microphones. Amazing!

The gentleman sitting next to me lives in Mexico. He's been stateside visiting his son in Washington, DC for a few weeks. He wanted to see NYC, so he took the train up to Penn Station to see the Big Apple for a few days.
His return trip is as follows: NYC to Chicago; brief layover in Chicago; Chicago to Houston; and then a series of busses from Houston to Mexico City. Whew! -And is a little worried that he might get stranded in Texas if the border situation happens to change due to the swine flu situation.
-And I thought I had a long trip.
Call me a troglodyte (you wouldn't be the first), but I had no idea until today that I could convert MIDIs to burnable CD files with ITunes. That is saving me a ton of time.

My dinner reservation in the dining car is not until 8:00. I'm not sure if pork chops are on tonight's menu. If they are, should I say "Hi!" for you?

Dining Out For Life® is an annual fundraising event involving the generous participation of volunteers, corporate sponsors and restaurants. In exchange for their financial support, restaurants are listed in a city wide marketing campaign in an effort to increase customer traffic.
In 1991 Dining Out For Life® was created by an ActionAIDS volunteer in Philadelphia. Dining Out is now produced in over 55 cities throughout the United States and Canada. An average five to six cities are added each year.
More than 3,500 restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds from this one special night of dining to the licensed agency in their city. Nearly $4 million dollars a year is raised to support the missions of agencies throughout North America. With the exception of the annual licensing fee of $600, all money raised in these cities stays there.

30 ROCK has two of the original cast of COMPANY tonight, John Cunningham and Elaine Stritch.
GREY'S ANATOMY had another perfectly wonderful episode. The show is back to its former glory, I think. Once they got Izzie's trouble identified, things have really begun to fall into place for the show.
