I know you're not supposed to ice a burn. The pack i have is not really what i'd consider ice. It's one of those slushy packs you keep in the freezer. But i had a towel over it. So it would more likely just be keeping it cool, not freezing it.
She says it does not hurt and keeps asking, "what's my boo boo called again". I gave her another shower this morning and washed it off. And put more ointment and another big bandage. This one bigger.
I'm not sure what to do about the other blister. Hope it pops itself. Or take her to the doctor.

It was a bit overcast this morning, and rain is supposed to happen this afternoon, so we'll see. My yard is fairly brown right now, so I guess we could use the rain, but I sure do love not having to mow the grass.

And, of course, rain or not, it's going to be near-90 again today. So, if we have rain, it will simply turn the outside into a sauna.

My work project today is Criterion's REPULSION. I have seen it before, but it was on TV years ago, and I suspect it was edited for broadcast, so this may be my first time with the entire movie. Should be a "fun" afternoon.

No, DR JRand58, GIUDITTA is also from the Morbisch Festival, but I was watching IM WEISSEN ROSSL, which means "White Horse Inn." GIUDITTA (Judith) is a late Franz Lehar operetta about a whore in Morocco or some part of the French Foreign Legion World. I find it a bit pretentious, more Richard Strauss than Lehar, but a lot of people like it. Her big aria "Meine Lippen sie kussen so heiss" (My lips kiss so hot) gets a lot of exposure; Beverly Sills interpolated into the last act of her Merry Widow performances, which seemed a bit odd for the character; I think the translation was "On my lips every kiss is like wine." Now that I've kicked GIUDITTA around the block, there are other Morbisch performances I like as well: The Merry Widow, The Beggarstudent, The Gypsy Baron.
I slept late this morning, and I've got a lot of work on Liz Callaway's material. Alex is late with one chart, which frustrates me much as I love him, since it's less time to do the chart and get it to the copyists without going into overtime. He's promised it to me tomorrow. It will be wonderful, since he's so good, but it means a day I cannot work on it today.
Beyond that, I have dinner at 5:30 with my friend Darrel Karl at an Indian place on 46th and Sixth at 5:30. It will be a nice break from the chart.

I remember him going on the castrecl list a while back and saying he was going to stop posting reviews because no one was responding to them - but now it seems he posts them again with great thought and detail, and is actually writing with even more insight than he did before he almost stopped. (I like his writing a great deal, but as with Matthew Murray the All That Chat critic, my admiration for Mr. Karl's writing ability makes me wish he liked what i did, that he didn't dismiss my work so - for want of a better word - dismissively. :) )

It is the same Darrel Karl. I like his discographies quite a lot. I had not noticed his being dismissive of your work, DR FJL. I suspect, if it's the parodies to which you refer and not THE LAST STARFIGHTER, he's not relating to them because they're not from shows. I cannot speak for him because this is something he and I have never discussed. But I have no idea.

Larry - IIRC, it was just a dismissive but decisive knock in his year-end round-up. And (as with Matthew Murray) it only bothers me because Darrel Karl is a talented writer himself and I normally enjoy his analyses; if I could dismiss him, it wouldn't bother me, but he's too bright to dismiss.

I really want to thank the folks at the Brooklyn Museum (at least) one more time for taking care of me yesterday. Will Cary, the Membership Manager actually tracked me down in the galleries to make sure that my visit was going well, and that the guards were not bothering me. Shelley Bernstein, their Chief of Technology, also checked in with me throughout my visit in person and via Twitter, and she tipped me off to some of the museum's lesser-visited collections. And I was truly flattered when Judith F. Dolkart, the curator of the Caillebotte exhibit, came up to me to talk about the Art - and Monkey - for a couple of minutes.

And as for Monkey's web presence, I had no idea that my original MoMA set had been featured on the C-Monster site back in January.
Yes, the Brooklyn Museum is quite a structure, but I love how the old and the new are combined, juxtaposed. I will definitely be heading back there to check out the three floors I didn't get a chance to fully explore. It's also one of the most family-friendly, family-ready museums I've ever been, and the individual gallery "flip-books" are a great way to keep track of your Art viewing.

I had a great time with my parents. Last night mom and I went out on the dock to see if we could see the fireworks on the other lake. It had been very quiet around their house and I think both Mom and Dad must have commented 10 times (they often don't remember what they said) that they hadn't heard any firecrackers. Well all that changed, lol.
As mom and I stood out on the dock, both neighbors to the north started shooting off firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles and various other fireworks. People all around the lake were shooting off fireworks and the neighbors to the south started shooting them off too. We were both on the dock turning one way then the other making sure we weren't in the line of fire. It was really comical and we laughed and laughed

I'm the most caught up at the office that I've been since I opened my office, so I decided to extend the weekend while things are calm. I went to the lake last Thursday, came home today and will go back to work on Tuesday. It was a nice break, 3 days with mom and dad and 2 days to work on the house

Next, I watched my work disc for the day, Roman Polanski's masterpiece REPULSION. I guess I had seen the whole thing. Since it was done in 1965 in England, it couldn't be overly graphic, but therein lies part of its genius since it's SO much more effective if we don't see every slash, every bash in extreme close-up as it's done nowadays.
And Catherine Deneuve so young and drop dead gorgeous in this (and so psychotic)! She said in the commentary this was her third film, (or was it she had made three films prior to this). Anyway, this must have established an international reputation for her. She should have won all sorts of awards for it.

While hundreds of worshipers watched the traditional dramatization of the Crucifixion from pews in the church, one of New York’s oldest, thousands more around the world followed along on smartphones and computers as a staff member tweeted short bursts of dialogue and setting (“Darkness and earthquake,” “Crucify him!”).
The trouble began in the second hour.
Twitter’s interactivity — its essence — made it easy for an anonymous text-messager to insert an unscripted character into the Passion play: a Roman guard who breezily claimed, “I’ve got dibs on his robe.” When another texter introduced a rogue Mary Magdalene, the intrusion only confirmed the obvious: Twitter’s trademark limit of 140 characters per message is no bar against crudity.

After listening to the commentary (it's pieced together with comments from both Polanski and Deneuve), I watched the other bonus features.
There are two trailers (that give too much away).
There was a making-of documentary made fairly recently with the producers and the director, the art director, and the cinematographer talking about the problems they faced making the movie for a small British company which before had made only soft porn flicks and having to work on such a small budget (which Polanski exceded).
And then there was a really interesting 1965 TV excerpt showing Polanski directing on the set (he played the parts for the actors and asked them to mimic him).
Good, interesting stuff.

In the time I had left, I skimmed through Wednesday's episode of ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Kyle and Fish are still dancing around each other now (and Fish is trying to sublimate his homosexual tendencies by dating Layla, the character/actress who literally was the reason I stopped watching this show a couple of years ago. I am SO sorry she's still around, though, of course, we know she's in for a pile of hurt if she falls for Fish.)

I found out today that since I bought my paint right before it went on sale that I can take my receipts in and they will give me the $5 off per gallon that they are offering now. the sale goes trhough tomorrow, so I'm thinking about choosing a color for the livingroom tomorrow and buying the paint. Once I have the paint I will do the work.

Went for a drive. It didn't help. I'm trying to watch a motion picture entitled Short Circuit, but it's really bad.

Evening all. I am back from a wonderful and leisurely trip to Long Island. I must go back to work tomorrow morning or I would have stayed longer.
Ant is still out there helping a friend of his. She's an older woman (86) and her husband has cancer of the esophagus (sp). Anthony has known her for over 30 years (I don't remember if I mentioned this) so he went out on Tuesday to help her with various things. George's cancer is terminal. They are arranging hospice care. This Tuesday Anthony is taking Elinor to an Eldercare lawyer and to her bank and food shopping, etc. The prognonsis is terminal but they aren't exactly sure how long he has (that's never a precise science anyway), probably from 3 to 6 months (he's 81).
That's the news from Long Island. Sorry to leave on such a down note but I have to get ready for the morning.

We are in out busiest season of the year for real estate ... right after school ends and just before everyone wants to take vacation
On top of that the experiennced paralegal that was hired while I was out sick got sick of teh hours and quit - so the other experienced woman and I have been working 14+ hour days
I get into the office beteen 6;30 and 7:30 and often do not leave until (9 or 10 at night - when I get home I just go to sleep
the boss has hired 2 otehr ladies but they are still training (and guess who is trainingthem!) so they are not really helping alleiviate the workload at the moment

Friday the boss let us go at 3;30 ...since Vixdad was out for the evening I took the Vixter and her best friend out for some fun hanging out time
we went to Dave and Busters where we played a lot of games them we walked over to a pizza parlor in the same shopping center and had pizza on the veranda for dinner.
AS we walking back we noticed a new restaurant in the shopping center complete with GRAND OPENING banners

We decided to have shakes as dessert... I had the heathbar shake, Vixter had teh chocolate covered pretzel shake and Vixbestfriend had the brownie batter shake (hers was the best one!)
Tonight we took Vixdad there and had dinner - the burgers are really good too!

I watched FIVE LITTLE PIGS when I went back down. Just love this mystery. It's a murder in retrospect story (Christie's first and best), and the cast is just wonderful. There was also a gay character in the mix.

I think the new neighbor may have moved in while I was gone. His kitchen light is on and his car is in the driveway. There was a woman in a van who stopped several times before I left. Didn't see her today, just a guy in a red convertible. Most curious indeed.

Well, you know there are different incarnations of the Poirot tales. Christie wrote a bunch of Poirot short stories, and 36 of them were filmed as one hour episodes.
The full length novels have not all yet been filmed, but they have done a great many of them, and FIVE LITTLE PIGS was one of the ones from the early 1940s. They're all movie length, of course (90+ minutes). FIVE LITTLE PIGS was renamed MURDER IN RETROSPECT when it was first printed in America. I'm not sure which name it has as a novel now, but the movie version definitely goes by the name FIVE LITTLE PIGS.

Well, tomorrow looks like it may be quite the action-packed day for me. Besides my usual activities of walking and running town taking pictures of Monkey; tracking down the various food trucks I follow on Twitter; popping into MoMA for another brief bit of Art and Education; coaching a friend for an upcoming audition; trading in a few more CDs and DVDs at Academy; having lunch with my friend, Chris; helping total strangers find their way on the subway; offering to take pictures of families as they walk through Times Square and continue to laugh at myself...
I also have to getting ready for the arrival of my friend, John, from Chicago later in the week, as well as my cousin, Christine, from Seattle. -I haven't seen Christine in at least 15 years! -And since Christine will be in NYC this coming weekend, my parents may also be coming into town for a day too (coupled with another trip to Atlantic City). ;)

I've been trying to look at some old negatives in my dad's collection of stuff. I think their might be pictures of when I first came to the US and lived on a farm in Texas. And maybe some pictures of a house in LA in 1960? I'm keeping my finger's crossed and have to find a good place to have them developed. Also pics I never saw before from Germany, but it's hard to tell who the kids are in the pictures. I don't really recognize myself at all.

I just watched two episodes of a show called Bump! on Logo. It's a travel show for the LGBT folk. The two-part episode that I recorded was about New York City (http://www.bumptv.com/itinerary_1d.html) and it was quite informative. But it was from 2002. They interviewed Jerry Mitchell and talked about the "new" Broadway show that he was choreographing, Hairspray. ;)
Also, they interviewed Seth Rudetsky, but in the episode, the name displayed on the screen was "Seth Kamil, Big Onion Walking Tours (http://www.bigonion.com/)." Kamil??

Well, I really hate to do this even though it's really just around midnight, but I must get to sleep. I need to get some sleep because tomorrow (Monday) is my last night off from "Romeo & Juliet" and tonight is my only chance to get some sleep. 8) We only have a speed-through pick-up rehearsal on Tuesday, so that's not so bad, but then we go Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm., then a Sunday matinee at 2:00, then we strike the set...and then it's over!
