Well, you've read the notes the notes were like a roller coaster, and now it is time for you to post until the roller coaster cows come home.

I watched the SAG awards too (minus the red carpet if there was one on tv).  I really enjoyed it.

I thought it was interesting how many winners were the same as the Golden Globes.

I found Sandra Bullock's introduction of Betty White so funny. Usually i find people introducting life time achievements to be so boring!

I forgot about the SAG awards, but since THE CLOSER didn't win anything, at least I didn't have my hopes up. Some of my Closer producers were working on the awards show so I should have tried to tune in!

Good morning, all! It's a quiet morning. So far. I canot imagine there will be any madness like Friday's until tomorrow and I expect some on both family and work fronts. Joshie called me from Encores! yesterday, so I think I may have some work on FANNY.

Last night, I had to deal with the noisy neighbor walking around about 1:30, and after I had slept for about two hours he returned with someone so I had to listen to his bed squeak for around 45 minutes. I'm a little groggy this morning but I had to be up early so i can play some loud music for retaliation. I hope the two of them get little sleep this morning.

Today, I have a bit of IRS preparation, more proofing on THE WIZARD OF OZ, and new Moross score to locate and begin proofing. Tonight I have to step out and hear a singer's act for which my friend Chris is playing drums.

Warm here....very spring like....rain and a bit of thunder.

Today the COLTS play the JETS to see who goes to the Super Bowl - whatever that is.  So we shall see.

Word in Indiana is that JETS stands for:  Journey Ends This Sunday.  And there are several parodies of the Lord's Prayer floating around that begin "Our Peyton, hallowed be thy name....." which are pretty offensive, even to atheists.

Good morning!

It's going to rain here all day, and it started before I got up so I'm having to treadmill it this morning. Made me mad because it's relatively warm outside for January, and a walk would have been relaxing.

But it's very gray here, so I have to have the light on in my office. I usually don't need it in the morning or afternoon, but it's a necessity today: it's DARK outside, even at 10 a.m!
Title: Re: ROLLER COASTER
Post by: Matt H. on January 24, 2010, 07:02:08 AM
I have to start on DYNASTY today. I wonder how many times Alexis will call someone a "tramp" in these thirteen episodes? Funny thing is that of all the characters, she's the one who could best be labeled as a tramp.

I read the liner notes this morning, and this is the last year Pamela Sue Martin played Fallon. Emma Sams will take over at some future date (in a season I probably won't be reviewing.)
Title: Re: ROLLER COASTER

I will have last night's CASTLE episode to watch while I eat lunch.

The only speech I'm interested in hearing from the SAG awards is Jane Lynch's acceptance for the GLEE cast (and to see the very cute cast together and thrilled with their success). So, I'll be able to delete that from the DVR relatively quickly.

I've got to make some decisions about what skating performances from the nationals (if any) I want to transfer over to a DVD-R. Only three women skated cleanly last night (definitely don't want to see Sasha Cohen's sputtering performance on her jumps ever again.)

Those shows are taking up a lot of space on the DVR, and they've got to go soon!
Title: Re: ROLLER COASTER
Post by: Matt H. on January 24, 2010, 07:08:27 AM
Most everything is in repeat mode tonight on TV. Yes, NBC is showing exhibition performances from the national championships, CBS has a line-up of reruns from its popular crime drama catalog. ABC has expanded Extreme Makeover to two hours and pushed the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES rerun back to 10.

Of course, there are some new shows on cable including a new BIG LOVE on HBO.

But basically, the pickins are slim tonight if you're not a sports fan.

Then I began on my work project for the day. I got through 4 1/2 episodes of DYNASTY before time ran out.

Let's see. Gay Steven is now into his SECOND heterosexual marriage (Luke isn't going to come along until season five), this time to the fragile Claudia.

Adam has tried to turn saintly since his unborn child's life hangs in the balance, and butler's daughter Kirby (the mother) has divorced (or will divorce) Jeff so Adam will marry her.

Fallon got mixed up with a playboy/hustler (Helmut Burger) who took her dad for a million dollars and tried to flee the country before marrying her. Of course, she was so distraught about being taken in by this cad that she walked in front of an oncoming car and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Jeff, of course, realizes he's still in love with her and is by her side every second.

Alexis is sleeping with both her bodyguard and the studly Dex Dexter (Michael Nader who does indeed fill a pair of jeans about as well as anyone ever has). She's against Steven's marriage to Claudia (who isn't?) and Adam's to Kirby, but Blake is happy with both, so, of course, they're at each other's throats.

Oy! And that's just the first 4 1/2 episodes! I've got 8 1/2 more to go!

I pretty much stopped going a couple years ago, maybe one a year and I don't really spend time with the group.  Jack passing makes me think about the friends I really miss.  I think I'll look into going to the Austin meeting in February. DR Cillaliz - you should go to Austin.  I've been in a real reconnecting mood lately.

Well, it's still in February and I've sort of sworn off traveling in the winter months.  My plan has been to go to the NACDL meeting in May in Memphis. I've never been there before.  After all the recent move expenses, I want to give it a couple months before taking a big trip

I just spent 5 hours in the emergency room, which was fun.

Chest pains.

Thankfully, it was not my heart.  The doctor thinks it's gastroesophageal reflux disease, so he's referred me to a gastroenterologist and, just to be safe, a cardiologist.

 :(

Pain free vibes to DR DRUXY~~~~~

Kind of.  I think I posted here when Mademoiselle Bellwood came to dinner and she was flabbergasted that I knew her father had cowritten GANTRY.  I believe TD as well as several others provided me with live recordings of the show which Lucy presented to her father that year for Christmas.

Thanks for the condolences.  I went to 4 meetings a year with NACDL for probably 8 years.  I got to know a lot of people very well. I pretty much stopped going a couple years ago, maybe one a year and I don't really spend time with the group.  Jack passing makes me think about the friends I really miss.  I think I'll look into going to the Austin meeting in February. I had decided not to, but there will be a tribute to Jack and I'd like to go to that.   I need to check on plane fares, hotel rooms etc, but I'm, thinking about it seriously

others who hadn't originally planned on going might do so now.

I'd put it in the freezer. That would preserve it in the condition it is in NOW. If you put it in the fridge, it would continue to spoil, so they wouldn't know the condition it was in at the time you ate it.

Maybe you should put half in the fridge and half in the freezer. Then you 'd have samples both ways.
Title: Re: ROLLER COASTER
Post by: Laura on January 24, 2010, 06:40:17 PM
I don't think freezing it would make any bacteria samples unfindable -- would it?
Title: Re: ROLLER COASTER
Post by: Laura on January 24, 2010, 06:41:18 PM
And I'd call the management at Gelson's. They will want the leftovers, but if they dispose of it, then you wouldn't have anything to give to the authorities if they need to investigate.

I have the best solution:  drive back to Gelson's right now with it, vomit on their floor, and then politely ask for a refund.  ;)

Good news for me since I have only three left, and there are no bonus features with the set, so I'll be done with DYNASTY tomorrow afternoon leaving me the entire evening tomorrow to watch TWILIGHT recorded off Showtime-HD last night. Of course, CHUCK and '24' and CASTLE are likely on tomorrow night, but I should have time to fir some of them in as well.
