Well, you've read the notes, I made some notes where there never were some notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - look I made a cow where there never was a cow.

And the word of the day is: AUBADE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

You watch your phraseology!
-
Oh!
FIRST POST-BK POST!!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... Well, I'm still up... And...
-
I've finished packing my bag - I'm not checking anything - and tidying up my room, and now I'm just catching up on last night's "American Idol" and surfing the interwebs before heading to the airport in about another hour or so.
But until that time...
-
DR elmore - I'm so jealous that you go to see Fanny. Alas, because of the scheduling of UPTA, I've missed a couple of the Encores' presentations over the years. I really admire Elena Shaddow, and would have loved to see her in Fanny. However, I will get another chance to see her later this Spring in La Cage aux Folles - where she'll be reunited with her Light in the Piazza co-star, Christine Andreas. :)
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Well...
I've been trying to Search the archives here in HHW for the last time(s) this came up, and the search function doesn't seem to be working properly right now. But... In the meantime...
Harold Hill: A man can't turn tail and run just because a little personal risk is involved. What did Shakespeare say? "Cowards die a thousand deaths, the brave man... only 500"?
-
And I have to say it's a very interesting "version" of "American Idol"... It's kind of nice to concentrate on the positive.
-
OK...
Time to pack up my MacBook, and finish getting ready for my trip. I'm sure I'll be checking in from LGA in a bit, so...
Laters...
-
TOD: "Don't dawdle, Amaryllis." (My father always used to say this to get me to move along quicker.)
-
Morning all.
-
I wish I could quote dialogue from The Music Man. I know the lyrics better.
-
Greetings from US Airways Gate 12 at LGA!
-
It was a very uneventful ride on the M60 bus to LGA, and I was through security in about five minutes. So far, so good.
-
Ok I look some up and this is my favorite
Mayor Shinn: You watch your phraseology!
-
DR MattH - I do have a one hour layover in CLT. I'll save you a rocking chair in the main concourse. ;)
-
So...
The weather forecast for this coming weekend for the mid-Atlantic looks kind of daunting. They are predicting a minimum of an additional 10" of snow in Richmond, with the possibility of 15"-20" a real possibility. I know some people traveling to Memphis for UPTA from Virgina and DC that day... By car! I really do hope they get a head start.

Travel vibes for DR JOSE.
Health vibes for friend of DR ELMORE - Chris.

And speaking of travel...
Thank You for all the Travel Vibes!!!

Mayor Shinn: I don't even HAVE a son!
Mrs. Shinn: I never said you did.
Mayor Shinn: Thanks for the buggy ride.
And so many more I look forward to reading today.....
Mayor Shinn: And now the ladies of local wigwam of the Hee-a-watha will present a spectacle my wife.......er....in which my wife, Eulalie McKechnie Shinn will take a leading part.

Good morning, all! First thing on today's agenda is a trip to the barber, followed by a trip to Toyland to pick up some music. After that, I plan to work here while I wait to hear news from my drummer friend Chris, who received a call yesterday from his doctor about some test results. Whoever called told him to come in ASAP and he's seeing the doctor at 2 pm. I volunteered to go with him, but he said he would call me after he heard the news. Keep those vibes coming.

Good test results for Chris!

Lar, I hope your cold is receding
-
We will be seeing Blazing Saddles this evening at Chelsea Cinemas (where dreams come true).
I don't think I've seen it since it came out.
-
Great photos DR CILLA LIZ!
-
I am not convinced, DR JOSE - that those extra commercials will be at the end of the late night period...did he say that elsewhere?
-
And they are closing the door... Until CLT...

DR Ben, it is! I am feeling much much better. Here's today's rant: on All That Chat, two posts of this ilk about last night's dress of FANNY: The City Center Sleeps 2400, from my count. This is the 50th Encores production, and in my opinion - one of the biggest snoozes and head scratcher's I've ever seen. The simplest, most earnest book - the dullest, old fashioned score and some of the most uncomfortable acting I've seen onstage in decades. This is one a misfire, to say the least. Ouch.
What a moron! He's seeing a show put up in a week, with actors dealing with costumes, being onstage, working with an orchestra and doing a lot of staging with book in hand, and he/she's complaining about "uncomfortable" acting? I thought this was one of the stronger dress rehearsals for an Encores! production and this old-fashioned criticism, which helped kill Finian's Rainbow really irks me: what does this fool think Encores! mission is? Complete ass. Doesn't he realize the crap he thinks is so magnificent will be old-fashioned in another 50 years? Some of these ATC nay-sayers are total fools.

Elmore you dear sweet man - after a "day" that strecthed well into the night I came home exhausted and miserable and found your lovely surprise gift!! thank you so very much!!!

Hello, dear vixmom! It was my pleasure. How did the MATTRESS casting go? Did the vixter get cast? Did I miss something?
-
I was thinking about the Mattress casting the other day, too.
-
Thursday morning greetings!
Health vibes for DR Elmore's friend Chris, who was a sparkling dinner partner at John's Pizza!

Yesterday DR TCB asked re: the chicken pot pie
What kind of frozen veggies?
It didn't specify, but i just used a bag of frozen veggies that had corn, beans, peas ... i assumed that was what they meant.
Btw, it looked exactly like the picture DR Jose posted.
Oh and i forgot to mention i made mashed pototoes with it!

TOD - "I always think there's a band, kid."

And I have to say it's a very interesting "version" of "American Idol"... It's kind of nice to concentrate on the positive.
The content was good. But I was not crazy about the format. Maybe it was announced that they were gonna show auditions from all cities (if they did i missed that). But i prefer when they show the auditions in a more organized manner. I'd rather see each audition city one a time vs seeing different judges and different places for each person.

Off to work. Oh well.

I watched the first 4 episodes of the show HAWTHORNE that i had asked about here last month. I believe it ran in the US in the summer and it started here 4 episodes ago. It's with jada pinkett smith.
It's funny, but I was in a similar situation re: THE GOOD WIFE. I almost didn't watch it because I didn't think I would like Juliana Margulies (and i ended up loving her). Well i almost didn't watch HAWTHORNE because i didn't think i would like jada. But she is excellent in her role.
She plays the head nurse at a hospital. And there are so many characters that i recognize from other shows. I'm surprisingly enjoying it!

This is probably considered part of the lyrics of "Pick-A-Little" more than diaglogue, but:
"She made brazen overtures to a man who never had a friend in this town till she came here."

Okay, off to the barber and Toyland! I'll call Chris and see how he's coping.

DR MattH - I do have a one hour layover in CLT. I'll save you a rocking chair in the main concourse. ;)
It sounds like it would be a great plan if today wasn't both a work day and a lunch day with friends. I have picked up friends at the airport several times in the last few years, but I haven't actually been inside in a LONG, LONG time. I might not even recognize it now.
-
Hmmm...try as I might, I can't seem to create an interroBANG on my keyboard. It keeps coming out as a =.
I'm sure that there was an interroBANG at the end of Patti Lupone's "WHO do you think YOU are"...
-
Okay, off to the barber and Toyland! I'll call Chris and see how he's coping.
I read this from last night and want you to be sure to tell him that your friends at HHW are thinking about him and wishing him the best.

I watched CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA last night with Vivien Leigh and Claude Rains.
Great G.B. Shaw, but not the greatest film.
I particularly liked the line:
"When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty."
-
Nothing makes me madder than to read something by some youngster that talks about the "old" music in classic Broadway shows. It just shows a lack of understanding of music and the way the music was used then to expand the show's horizons.

Good morning!
Overcast here, and they're predicting more "wintery mix" during the early morning hours tomorrow. So, I'll do my grocery shopping and errands again today instead of waiting until Friday. It seemed very cold this morning, too: bone-chilling cold.
-
My work project today remains THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND. Funnt thing I just noticed this morning. The review copy of this sent by Fox did not have a cellophane wrapping. (All of the others I got did.) Wonder if this is going to have some problems? I guess I'll find out this afternoon.
-
Good Morning on this glorious page three!
-
I read something very surprising this morning:
After tonight's new episodes of BONES and FRINGE, they will be off the air until April. I guess Fox will be expanding IDOL to three nights a week for the early rounds of the real competition, but that's a long hiatus. Something else must also be intervening on some of those Thursdays.
-
More TV reminders:
New episodes of BURN NOTICE and PROJECT RUNWAY tonight.
Of course, with sweeps starting, all network shows are in "new" mode now.
-
An ACC basketball game is preempting tonight's SUPERNATURAL making me very angry. Yes, the CW affiliate is going to show it in the early hours of the morning, but times often vary due to basketball game overruns, so one is never sure if he's going to actually get the show or not. One has to set the time period directly after on the DVR just to make sure you get all of the show, and even then that doesn't always work.
-
DR Jrand,
Could you please give me the name again of the most recent book on SUPERMAN that you mentioned the other day. I bought and am reading SUPERMAN FROM SERIAL TO CEREAL, but I forgot the name of the other book, and a search at Amazon never brings up that particular book.
Thanks.

I read about this a few days ago. But it never occured to me that it would be because of IDOL. I'll bet you are right. If they have one day of men performing, one day of women (for example) and then the results. Then having a thursday show would make sense.
-
I wonder if anyone who watches SURVIVOR will be watching tonight's sort of recap show. I think they are talking to past contestants.
I guess i will record it and see if it is interesting. I know i can't wait for next week's premiere. I hope it lives up to its potential.

I am happy that there is a new THE MENTALIST tonight.

There is also a new FOX show called PAST LIVES (which i know nothing about). But i think it will be on next Thursday (i think next week on IDOL is hollywood week).

As for "AI"... It was reported in the NY Times a few weeks ago that "AI" would be on three times a week at various times this season. One of those weeks is supposed to include "Idol Gives Back".

And, once again, Thanks for all the Travel Vibes. They seem to be working their magic. Just one more leg to go.

I have a nice haircut, I've got the internet back up and working at Toyland, and I've picked up the music I need. I think I will head home, write up the notes I need on the score in question, perhaps see what's going on on ONE LIFE TO LIVE - a big traffic pileup ended yesterday's episode - and wait for word from the drummer.
I need some help with a lyric from "Evaline McCook." There are several words I cannot decipher in Herbert's handwriting of MacDonough's lyric. The point of the song is that Evaline McCook may be a country girl but she's savvy enough not to be conned by city slickers; she "knows her book."
Oh! She was a country girl
Her _____ ____ __ full of hay,
But when she had to cross the street, she alwaus knew the way!
Oh! She was a country girl
But well did she know her book
If in search of a jay, you had best stay away from sweet Evaline McCook!
The missing words look, to me, like "Her smith was en full of hay" I usually have no problem deciphering Herbert's handwriting but this one's stumped me!
-
While I was unplugging the router on the Toyland computer, I caught my hand under the photocopier and tore a chunk of flesh. I put Neosporin and a bandaid on the wound but it's still bleeding. I think I'll head home and see what can be done to stop it. I doubt I will bleed to death on the subway.

Some are uncomfortable with genuine emotion and searing passion. I pity the fool.
Also, in the 55 years since Fanny, there's been a whole lot of unplanned pregnancies in stories that have been seen. Fanny was shocking in its time, and had to handle certain bits with delicacy. The eroticism, for instance, is all in that lush music, full of whole tone scales, rising lines and counterpoint.
Run, do not walk, to City Center to catch Marc Bruni's staging of Fanny. (May I note he won an award for staging my Such Good Friends a couple of years ago?) I was in tears from the young man's first underscored speech about the sea until the Act 2 circus. And then the ending, of course. I've attended all but one Encores since 1998 and this was the best of them all.
Here's today's rant: on All That Chat, two posts of this ilk about last night's dress of FANNY: The City Center Sleeps 2400, from my count. This is the 50th Encores production, and in my opinion - one of the biggest snoozes and head scratcher's I've ever seen. Just finished watching the 3rd (of 3) movies in Criterion's G.B. SHAW COLLECTION, ANDROCLES AND THE LION.
Actually, I found it to be the most entertaining of the the 3, probably because it's more of a movie and less of s stage play.
The other 2 films, MAJOR BARBARA and CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA, were okay, but a bit ponderous.

I am going to make a recipe for a peanut buttercup cheesecake. One of the ingredients says "fudge topping". But i have no idea what they mean. I found a similar recipe that uses semisweet chocoate mixed with butter for their topping.
Does anyone know what fudge topping is?

I personally would use a different brand than Hersey's.

The old Hershey's hot fudge (in the brown tin can) was much better than the new bottled stuff.

Do any of our musically astute members perhaps have a clue where I could get this: I discovered last night that some dear soul broke one of the acrylic/plexiglass music stands that attaches to our handbell tables. It's 30 inches wide and about a foot high. I've Googled to no avail. ;)

What a morning!
-
Just before going to bed last night, I realized I hadn't written about something that was fun and involved a lot of traveling. I made a note about it and figured I'd maybe write it this morning and then decide if I could fit it in. But again, chronology was driving me crazy. I thought this even occurred later than it had. Then I remembered I had written cousins Dee Dee and Alan during that time and I found those letters and postcards. And seeing the date, I realized I had gotten a bunch of chronology wrong, all in a row. So, this morning I wrote the new little bit. Then I began cutting and pasting to fix the mistaken chronology. I was worried about it because I'd sort of liked the way I'd written it and how it flowed, but putting it right makes it even better. I did have to adjust a few things, but it's all done now and later today I'll read through it, finesse, and the re-print most of the pages I'd printed last night. Whew!

Oh, and I'm up.

Well...
I've been trying to Search the archives here in HHW for the last time(s) this came up, and the search function doesn't seem to be working properly right now. But... In the meantime...
Harold Hill: A man can't turn tail and run just because a little personal risk is involved. What did Shakespeare say? "Cowards die a thousand deaths, the brave man... only 500"?
I used the Search function and found a day on which the theme of the day was "One Grecian Urn". Lots of "Music Man" references that day (January 7, 2007).

When I was writing my book on musicals, the only person who I had problems with was Meredith Willson.
There is a chapter in the book on THE MUSIC MAN, so I (naturally) approached Willson for an interview.
He asked that all questions be submitted in writing, which I did.
A week or two later, I received a letter from him, in which he answered my questions...and also insisted that, since he had answered my questions, he now wanted editorial approval of the chapter.
I refused, and this debate went back and forth for several weeks.
Finally, after I had written the chapter, he was still insisting that he approve it, so I offered to let him read it and correct errors in facts ONLY.
[That's the same thing that I did when I wrote Merv Griffin's biography.]
Willson agreed. I sent over the chapter and, two days later, he called me. "Excellent," he said. then hung up.

He left River City the liberry building is correct.
I just checked the vocal score and it's "library." I would swear it's liberry in the libretto!
I think it appears as "liberry" in the libretto too.
Now, can you check on "Ye gods" v. "Ye gads"? ;)
Great Honk! It's "Ye, gods"! It always has been "Ye, gods!" Even when I did the show in college, Zaneeta always said, "Ye, gods".
It's Capulets like you......
-
I heard from Chris, who will begin stress tests next week to determine the cause of his health issues. I think he;s relieved things are not worse, but I will worry until they determine what's causing the problem, It's probably me.

As for "liberry"...it's sung as "library" on the soundtrack...to my ears, at any rate. But I imagine there is a character or two who say "liberry" just as in real life many folks say it.
Marian Paroo never says "liberry", nor does Harold Hill. Marcellus might say it, though, although he says "librarian" instead of "liberrian".

TOD:
"People lying down in the woods all day . . . eating SANDWICHES!"
Made indelible by the superb reading of Hermione Gingold. Of course, she could turn any line into something memorable.
-
And I was delighted and ASTONISHED when MY copy of THE MUSIC MAN and FINIAN'S RAINBOW arrived in the mail today. COuldn't believe it, but was SO thrilled.
Now, if only I had a spare three hours to devote to them.
-
I did get my errands run, but it was cold, and there was a wind which made it seem even more chilling. Agh, I couldn't wait to get back home.
-
Back from shipping a package and a solo celebration lunch at Louise's. I shall now go back and make sure I like what I wrote earlier and that the new real timeline makes sense and is structured soundly.
-
When I got in from lunch (still cold, mind you), I began on my work project: THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND. I never read the book this was based on, so it wasn't until I started listening to the commentary that I found out this was historical fiction, a fictional main character set against the story of Idi Amin.
Nicely delivered in all ways. The Blu-ray isn't the strongest encode I've ever seen. Lots of inconsistencies with sharpness and grain, but what looks good looks very good indeed. Sound is very nicely done.
-
I sampled about 30 minutes of the commentary. The director has a good way of expressing himself, and it's an easy and enjoyable listen.
-
Page Six Dance!!!
-
I had time for one other bonus item: CAPTURING IDI AMIN, a 30-minute documentary which is part making of feature and part biography of the deposed leader.
-
There are still a few more bonuses which I'll get to when I go back down. Hope I can also get some of last night's TV watched before tonight's TV comes on. Wow! What a busy day it has been!
-
I watched CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA last night with Vivien Leigh and Claude Rains.
Great G.B. Shaw, but not the greatest film.
I particularly liked the line:
"When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty."
I have that Eclipse set in the review queue, but since it doesn't come out until February 26th, it's on the bottom of my list right now.
I'm surprised and disappointed that PYGMALION wasn't included in the set.
I was as well and don't really understand why it wasn't unless they just wanted to keep it a separate catalog item for money purposes.
Is it possible that they don't own the rights to it?
Sort of like Return Of The Pink Panther is not included in the box sets because it was produced by another production company other than UA/MGM

Yes, Michael. That's why DR Druxy and I were surprised by its lack of inclusion. There are other Shaw-based films we didn't mention because they didn't have a prior Criterion release. I also mentioned in my response that "they" (meaning Criterion) wanted to possibly keep it a separate catalog item.
-
Now I'm going to hop off-line and do some writing. Then it's back down to finish the bonus features with THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND and then move on the TV both past (last night) and present (tonight).

I have a question for any foodies out there.
I am going to make a recipe for a peanut buttercup cheesecake. One of the ingredients says "fudge topping". But i have no idea what they mean. I found a similar recipe that uses semisweet chocoate mixed with butter for their topping.
Does anyone know what fudge topping is?
This is all i can think of......Usually used for hot fudge sundaes.
Thanks i wonder if they sell that here.
But I wonder what ingredients it would take to make it myself (which i'd rather do).

I need some help with a lyric from "Evaline McCook." There are several words I cannot decipher in Herbert's handwriting of MacDonough's lyric. The point of the song is that Evaline McCook may be a country girl but she's savvy enough not to be conned by city slickers; she "knows her book."

DR Jennifer - As for "fudge sauce" - I'm guessing it's just going to be drizzled over the top of the dessert you are making, not incorporated or mixed in. If so, you could even use chocolate syrup, although I guess they're specifying "Fudge Sauce" since they want something thicker that won't run.

The men's room and the women's room faced each other and the mirrors were on top of a smoked glass which "looked through" to the other side. Several times I was in the men's room washing my hands and a woman would come in on her side, wash her hands, then look up and spy me through the smoked glass section. Screams of horror would then ensue. ;)

I read through what I'd written and the chronology changes and I was very pleased with all of it, just smoothing out a few things. So, I printed out the redo, Xeroxed the pages, and delivered them to muse Margaret's ever-lovin' Richard. She may not get to them tonight, as they're having company. If not, I'm sure she'll read them tomorrow and we'll talk in the evening. While I was talking to Richard, another funny story came back to me, just a short anecdote about a commercial I did. I just wrote it - about a page long - and when I read through the book next week, if I find a place for it I'll stick it in. It's not really germane to anything, but it's fun.

Back from picking up a prescription and a few groceries for my Mom (her back went "out" as a result of her move - no surprise). After visiting with her for a bit and getting the IT guy to restore her DSL signal, I left to do my own grocery shopping and am now baking salmon filets for dinner.
As I was leaving the house, our mailman brought me 2 things:
;D Finian's Rainbow CD, which I took in the car and enjoyed very much. I'm looking forward to getting it onto my iPod and hearing it in my ears.

He also said his office would do what they could to help me appeal.

Maybe "fudge sauce" is a common term in the US. But i've never heard of it. It's actually not going to be drizzled over the top. It's supposed to be spread over the top of the whole dessert. I guess like an icing.
As DR Jane mentioned there are recipes online. Although i'm not sure which one to use. A bunch have evaporated milk, which i don't have. So i guess i'll just try one that has ingredients i already have. And hope for the best. I'm guessing that as long as the sauce tastes good, it will be fine.

I am now off to usher for Backstage Pass: The Songwriters Tour (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/season/season_detail.asp?event_id=1108):
This collection of singer/songwriters: Maia Sharp, Tony Haselden, Georgia Middleman and Craig Carothers have written for the likes of The Dixie Chicks, Colin Ray, Terri Clark, Peter, Paul, and Mary; Lorrie Morgan, Faith Hill, Bonnie Raitt, George Strait, Martina McBride, Lisa Loeb, Cher, Shania Twain, Shenandoah, Trisha Yearwood and Kathy Matea. They occasionally unite for special performances as an ensemble group, and Back Stage Pass offers a unique opportunity for audiences to have a sneak peak into the songwriters creative process and a song’s journey to #1 on the charts. This group of musicians, who have given so many artists the pulse of their music, represent the very best of songwriters in America today.
It should be a great evening!
Until later!

DR Jennifer - "Drizzled" is just a "lighter" version of "spread". It's obviously just there to provide the chocolate component to the peanut butter cup flavor combination (of peanut butter and chocolate).
If you wanted something similar, but a little different in texture, you could just melt some Hershey Kisses or a Chocolate Bar - or even nuke a piece of store bought fudge until it re-liquefies. Pour it over the top, let it set, then Enjoy!
You could even just omit the "fudge sauce" initially, then just top each serving of the dessert with the chocolate sauce of your choosing.
Again, it's not incorporated into the dessert, so you don't have to worry about it affecting how things bake or set up if it was mixed in.

On the real bright side, it's good to know that your doctor is on your side.

I need a good slang or colloquial disctionary from 1900: what is not full of hay or what is full of hay?
DR elmore - What is the ryhthm? note values?
Waltz tempo:
Her /_____ ______ ___ /full of /hay
eighth/quarter quarter eighth rest eighth/quarter rest quarter/half
-
Larry, "switch" (as in whip) would make sense.
-
Could it be "switch was so"?
Maybe he scrawled "so" and it looks like "en". ;)
-
G'night!

I'm sad as today I found out Sherlock's grandmother passed away last month. She was a couple of month's shy of 10, not a bad age for a Bernese Mountain Dog but we were hoping for much more. We want longevity in his line.
-
So sorry DR Jane. It doesn't mean Sherlock won't live a very long life
-
Sorry for the abrupt departure this morning - I was making an unauthorized venture here and had to skeddaddle lest I be found out
-
The Vixter alsas ddi not land the part of her dreams but had to settle for the part of French princess who apparently is very popular although she can only say one word - "YES"
She was musing about the part and saying "I don't understand why everyone would want to be with a girl who could only say one word of English"
I said "Um, she can't say "NO""
Her response...
"OH LAWD! I'm Princess ADO ANNIE!!!!!"
-
HMMM_ I arrive and TCB runs away .... I do have that effect on people
-
I am really looking for to BK's book - I too wonder what the title is...
"My Way or the HHW Way" perhaps?

>:( The letter from my insurance company telling me that they won't pay for my home health care from last week. When I told our doctor Monday that I'd heard rumors that this would be coming, he said, "We could have put you in the hospital for the week - that would have been really expensive for the insurance company!" He also said his office would do what they could to help me appeal.
On the bright(?) side, at least it's nice to know that you're insurance company works fast. :-\
On the real bright side, it's good to know that your doctor is on your side.
*That reminds of the time when my insurance company refused to pay for an ER visit. Because I was not admitted, they did not think it was an actual "emergency". If I had been admitted, I would have been fully covered, no questions asked. ???
Yeah, DR Jose, the doctor(s) better be on my side, because coming home and having visiting nurses was THEIR idea - I'd been taken to a pre-admission room, told to change into a hospital gown, and was about to have an IV when they called and recommended that I go home and they set up the home health care.

Well, it's a little after 10:00pm here in Memphis, but my body and brain is most definitely still on NYC time - where it's currently after 11:00pm. -Which is a good thing since I really want and need to get a good night's sleep tonight. And since I'm already sleepy, I think I should log off and shut down and get ready for bed before I find myself surfing the web during the wee hours of the morning.
Goodnight.

So sorry DR Jane. It doesn't mean Sherlock won't live a very long life
Echo was 10 & we are hoping for at least that with Sherlock. He had a grandfather that made it to 12. This is the downside of the breed but they are worth ever second we have with them. :)

Yup, they had better get the insurance to pay up!

But I'm on EST too (NY time) and it's 10:26 here. I'm very confused.

I can't get an interbang either

Michael, she had a wonderful rapport with many of the actors. I especially loved her work with Kristian and Melissa.
I started watching DAYS OF OUR LIVES during my second year of college and continued with it for the rest of college. There was an article in TV GUIDE about her that said she smoked cigars.
-
hmmm and it's only 10:32 on the Island of Long... I suspect our Jose is really really sleepy
-
Thanks for the insurance company vibes, all! One of their reasons for the denial was that I "declined to learn medication therapy that can be taught to a non-skilled patient or caregiver." Yes, I did turn my nose up at the idea of giving myself injections in my stomach - who wouldn't?
-
I just read that Frances Reid from Days of Our Lives passed away. La Grand Dame is gone. I hope they give her a grand send off and bring back as many characters they can. She deserves it.
I used to watch it when I was younger and although I had stopped watching it I always enjoy the updates from my friends who still watch the show
DR Michael S - If you had read the posts from last night, you would have seen that DR Dakota Celt had already beaten you to the punch back then.
I was going to mention that, too.
-
Really good Grey's Anatomy tonight
It irritated the hell out of me until Cristina's scene late in the show. More about my feelings in a minute.
-
I finished the bonus features on THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND. There were two more featurettes and the trailer, so not much left to watch which gave me a nice little chunk of time to watch some other things on the DVR.
-
I can't get an interbang either

I had the same result even within a Word document.
-
First I watched last night's MODERN FAMILY. Another really hilarious episode, especially the gym stuff and Phil's mustache and porta-potty dilemma. Laughed constantly throughout the episode. This show has some of the sharpest writing on TV, just filled with witticisms.
-
Next I watched UGLY BETTY. Enjoyed seeing Vanessa Williams' brother play her in drag. Very entertaining. The Betty-Daniel spat was typically silly and worked out by the end of the episode.

Tuned into tonight's BONES episode next.
My heart broke when Temperence thought she had found a kindred spirit at the clinic only to learn he was one of the delusional patients. Interesting case, but I guessed the killer early on.
-

And I hear tell that Jane declined to install her own shoulder joint and Der B flatly refused to rotor rooter his ventricals himself - it's people like you that are causing our health care system problems ask any of the HMO VP's they'll tell ya!
-
As for GREY'S ANATOMY, I'm wondering if it's not time for me to check out of this hospital. The behavior is so juvenile, and SO unprofessional so much of the time that I was just screaming at the TV:
Cristina ignoring the page preferring sex after she had already had sex earlier in the day on hospital time.
That Mercy West doctor with her eye on Alex distracting him with her petty insecurities while a patient almost bleeds to death.
Bailey and the anesthesiologist (certain to be her new upcoming love interest) cracking sarcastic jokes during surgery while Meredith was trying to concentrate on a surgery she was nervous about doing.
The Chief acting like a spoiled child instead of manning up and admitting he needs help, blaming Derek instead of being grateful he (and others) were trying to help. But he and Derek arguing while the hospital looked on.
Mark imploring Callie that she's his friend, not LExie's. High school much?
All of these things made me so frustrated and impatient with these doctors and really made it hard for me to sit still for the show.
-
My work project tomorrow will be the last of the Fox Blu-rays - WALK THE LINE. I really enjoyed this when I saw it, but I haven't seen it since its first appearance on HBO, so I'm looking forward to revisiting it tomorrow.

my new favorite rendition of this song - take 5 minutes and watch until the end
and why do I think BK told me about this link?

I'm going to take care of a few odds and ends on the computer and then head downstairs to bed.

((((Elmore)))))
thankyouagain for the wonderful surprise _ I listened to it several times today

I think I'm going to have to get some sleep. I figured out what to do about the problem case I was worried about last night. I was still angry when I wrote it, so I'll re-read and edit in the morning.
-
Matt, I liked the end of Grey's Anatomy. I get the impression the behavior you're referring to may change. Not sure if I'm right, but we'll see
-
We've had rain, sleet and now snow today. I'm so glad it waited until Gretchen and Carol made it home

Page 10 see you tomorrow dance.

Here's the new word I've learned tonight from Twitter:
Snowpocalypse
That's what's occurring right now in SW Ohio as we anticipate a winter storm.

I'd quote something from the Music Man, but I got totally burned out on it years ago.

Hello, everyone.
I'm waaaayyy behind in the posts, so I haven't a clew.

Still adjusting to apartment living. I have no one above me or below me (carport), and the apartment to the right is vacant, so the snoring I hear each night must come from the apartment to the left. Either that or there's a ghost that snores.
Still no furniture, but not because of a lack of shopping. I think I'm stretching muscles that haven't been stretched in many moons. My body is telling me that I'm not twenty anymore.
-
Today I discovered a little shop that imports from the UK. So many of my favorite British videos! Too bad I don't have my VCR here. I can only play DVDs; my MacBook hasn't a clue what a tape is.
-
DR Cillaliz - congratulations on your successful ribbon-cutting and reception and thanks for the photos! Hope you get some rest this weekend.
-
I've been learning my way around the new 'hood. While driving down Sawtelle Ave today I saw a sign that said
CURRY HOUSE--JAPANESE CURRY AND SPAGHETTI
I am at a loss to know what to expect from Japanese spaghetti. Spaghetti with bean curd? With raw fish? Japanese curry is a bit of a mystery, too.

'night!

GOOD WEATHER VIBES TO ALL IN THE EAST AND MIDWEST!
GOOD HEALTH VIBES TO ALL!

The majorly big return must be finished by Saturday night so that review can start Sunday morning. That actually sounds very reasonable.

Back from Camelot, about which more later.

Next I watched UGLY BETTY. Enjoyed seeing Vanessa Williams' brother play her in drag. Very entertaining. The Betty-Daniel spat was typically silly and worked out by the end of the episode.
I didn't know that that was Vanessa's brother! That's cool! He, of course, could NEVER pass for her in real life, but I know..."suspend disbelief." ;)

It was a wonderful evening of music! The four performers just sat in chairs in a row and each sang a song, then the next sang a song, then the next and that's the way the evening went. It was a smallish, but very appreciative crowd.
