Here is the lyric - I'll put on asterisk (*) where the lyric begins in the clip above, so you can follow along:

LAUREN:

My mother drinks
Sometimes she hits
So I lay low
Until she quits
I hide
I disappear
Inside
I hardly hear
The screaming and the yelling and the madness
And the pain
Her pain
My pain

But through it all
I've got two friends
I've got two people who will listen
Two people who will care
Two people who, no matter what,
Will always be there
To lighten all my sorrow
To take away my fears
We're a team that can't be beaten
We're the Three Musketeers
Three friends

BRYNN:

My whole life
My sister's always been the best
Daddy's fav'rite girl - mommy's special pet
She's the golden child - nothing she can't get
And it's very dark in her shadow
And it feels like somehow you're cursed
And it hurts to know, in your parents' eyes
That you're never gonna be first

But through it all
I've got two friends
I've got two people who accept me
Who help me see what's right
Who'll always be there by my side
To fight the good fight
Who keep me safe from nightmares
Who help me feel at ease
And each victory seems sweeter
When they're all won by these
Three friends.

MARY ANN:

My father split
When I was five
We were told he'd be back
But he never did arrive
I was the oldest
With a brother and a sister
As for mom, well, the truth is
If you blinked you would have missed her
She was working at three jobs so we'd survive
So, to my sister and my brother
I was father, I was mother
Cook and maid and any other
Things to be
And so somehow you get the knack of
Doing work there is no lack of
No surprise I just lost track of
I lost track of me

But who helped me find myself
*Put it all behind myself
When things were at their bleakest
And my self esteem was weakest
Who was there

(Lauren and Brynn join her under the chorus)

Through it all
I have two friends
I've got two people I can turn to
Who always understand
And if I feel unsteady
Then they're there with a hand
The ones who give me comfort
Who shelter me from harm
There's no problem we can't conquer
If we're joined arm in arm
Three friends

ALL THREE:

Through it all
We are three friends
Three friends who always can be trusted
To cherish and support
To be there as a backstop if
We should come up short
And if the road is bumpy
If somehow we should slip
Well, I know I won't be falling
'Cause we're joined at the hip
Three friends
Three friends
Three friends.

Well, today's going to be a long day.  I'm going to work for a few hours, then in the evening, I'm working concessions for "Durang/Durang (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/calendar/calendar_detail.asp?event_id=1171)," presented by South Puget Sound Community College Theater Department.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is all mine!  I need to put up some shelves for my DVDs, then I can move my CDs onto the shelves that are already up but filled with non-CD items.  Hopefully, I'll be able to get the boxed CDs out of the boxes that they've been in for the last three and a half years and get ALL of my CDs onto shelves.

TOD:

Writing one's memoirs certainly evokes memories of events forgotten.  The frustrating part is that, often you remember them after you've finished the manuscript and sent it into the publisher.

Thankfully, I've not come up with anything that really needed to be in the book, but probably the most interesting of the stories was the time I worked with psychic Peter Hurkos.

Good morning, all! I am awake, bathed, and moving about. From the neighbor above me there was another round of noisy sex somewhere between 1:30 and 4 am. Since he's ignored my communications about carpet or more solid bed, I think I'll be talking to the landlord about this problem next week.

So, I'm off to Toyland for a while. Tonight, I'm seeing the musical YANK! at the York Theatre. I saw an earlier version two years ago at the Gallery Players in Brooklyn. I guess there have been some rewrites; friends who loved the show in its original NYMF production and did not like the changes made for Brooklyn thought the York production was quite wonderful. We'll see.

I have a razor sharp memory and never forget anything, so there is nothing to recall.  The things that DO come back now and then are DARK things I wish I didn't remember.

Greetings from Toyland! Last night I started reading an autobiography/journal of Lyn Murray, who did the vocal arrangements for the Broadway production of FINIAN'S RAINBOW before moving to Hollywood. The book's really fascinating and full of gossip; I just learned that not only was Momma Rose Hovick a lesbian, which I already knew, but that at a party around 1949, Gypsy Rose Lee made a pass at Murray's girlfriend Nina. I've also heard rumors about June, so I gather the gene pool in that family was very sapphic.

Murray's funniest comment so far, after seeing THE BELLS OF ST MARY'S, is that after seeing a Leo McCarey film he wanted to go out and be mean to someone.

I dined last night at Stella's Kentucky Deli. It was one of their "Fancy Friday" dinner nights...

Tomato Bisque with Artichoke Hearts
Rosemary Rabbit Risotto
"Mary Porter" Pie

All quite Dee-Lish!

And I really wish I could go back for brunch today.

DR elmore -- Perhaps you could get one of those old fashioned battery operated alarm clocks -- the kind with the really obnoxiously loud ring -- and tape it onto the end of a long stick.  Open you window, hold the stick up to the outside of his window above you, and let it ring. And ring.

Yes, that's what you need.  An alarm clock on a stick.

Well, I can understand the comment after seeing THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S, but certainly not all of this films were sweetness and light. Once can't watch MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW and not feel a bit ashamed of human nature.

I've picked THE HURT LOCKER in all the guessing Oscar contests I've entered, but I really just have no idea what the thinking is going to be. The acting categories are mostly a piece of cake this year. Can't believe Best Picture is the one that's a toss-up.

Several years ago, my late friend/client Dan O'Herlihy did a play reading with Nan Martin at a theater in Malibu.

For the life of me, I can't remember the title of the play, but it's a 2-person play about George Bernard Shaw and his exchange of letters with a famous actress of his day.

Somebody here must know the title and name of the actress.  My 69-year-old memory can't recall it.

In any event, I do remember that Dan was very pissed off at Ms. Martin.  This was supposed to be a reading, and she had memorized her role, which made Dan look bad because he was carrying his script.

In the early 1960s, I saw Nan Martin at Seattle's Moore Theater in a try-out of a new play that, I believe, closed after its Los Angeles date.

It was based on the works of Hemingway, and was titled, I think, A SHORT HAPPY LIFE.

Aside from Ms. Martin, the cast included Rod Steiger, Keir Dullea, Salome Jens and Harvey Lembeck.

Ellen Terry?

Maybe, but I'm not sure.

I think the play is called DEAR...?

It used to be performed quite often.

DEAR LIAR.  The actresss was Mrs. Patrick Campbell.

The Oscars start here at 8:30. That always makes for SUCH a long night. (Of course arrivals begin on ABC a half hour earlier, and on other cable channels much earlier.)

Thanks, Matt.  I just now focused on that 8:30 start time - a half hour later than it had been in recent years.  I wonder why.

Probably because none of the nominated songs will be performed. Of course, that happens the year Randy Newman is nominated for TWO songs.  >:(

TOD, sort of:

Greg left a tool-box looking thing at Delta last week when he was wrapping a job in a big hanger. It was full of expensive gear. He spent days trying to track it down.

Since he had a few days off, there was a window of opportunity to hang two antique deco sconces. He had already done a lot of the wiring but never had time to complete the job. After they're installed, we will hang family pictures in that area (a little hall between the bedroom and the former bedroom turned gear room) and put a console there. This is where the big litterbox is, so we had a frame built to elevate the console so the kittys will have some "work room". I bought a rug which I hope will disguise the litter they track out. Then it should be a more functional tiny area instead of a black hole.

The sconces disappeared and I thought I had hidden them from myself. Greg went to storage and looked but didn't see them. Yesterday, I went back to storage with them and they were in the box with all the other antique lights; he just hadn't dug deep enough. He had forgotten he had wrapped htem up and taken them to storage. Within a few minutes he also got a call that his box of transmitters was safe and sound, locked in an office. So something must have freed up in the planetary alignment for us to find things we'd forgoten. I'm very happy to be proceeding with this project. The house is too small not to have things where they're supposed to be.

I envy JMK his big house!

Here is the lyric - I'll put on asterisk (*) where the lyric begins in the clip above, so you can follow along:

LAUREN:

My mother drinks
Sometimes she hits
So I lay low
Until she quits
I hide
I disappear
Inside
I hardly hear
The screaming and the yelling and the madness
And the pain
Her pain
My pain

But through it all
I've got two friends
I've got two people who will listen
Two people who will care
Two people who, no matter what,
Will always be there
To lighten all my sorrow
To take away my fears
We're a team that can't be beaten
We're the Three Musketeers
Three friends

BRYNN:

My whole life
My sister's always been the best
Daddy's fav'rite girl - mommy's special pet
She's the golden child - nothing she can't get
And it's very dark in her shadow
And it feels like somehow you're cursed
And it hurts to know, in your parents' eyes
That you're never gonna be first

But through it all
I've got two friends
I've got two people who accept me
Who help me see what's right
Who'll always be there by my side
To fight the good fight
Who keep me safe from nightmares
Who help me feel at ease
And each victory seems sweeter
When they're all won by these
Three friends.

MARY ANN:

My father split
When I was five
We were told he'd be back
But he never did arrive
I was the oldest
With a brother and a sister
As for mom, well, the truth is
If you blinked you would have missed her
She was working at three jobs so we'd survive
So, to my sister and my brother
I was father, I was mother
Cook and maid and any other
Things to be
And so somehow you get the knack of
Doing work there is no lack of
No surprise I just lost track of
I lost track of me

But who helped me find myself
*Put it all behind myself
When things were at their bleakest
And my self esteem was weakest
Who was there

(Lauren and Brynn join her under the chorus)

Through it all
I have two friends
I've got two people I can turn to
Who always understand
And if I feel unsteady
Then they're there with a hand
The ones who give me comfort
Who shelter me from harm
There's no problem we can't conquer
If we're joined arm in arm
Three friends

ALL THREE:

Through it all
We are three friends
Three friends who always can be trusted
To cherish and support
To be there as a backstop if
We should come up short
And if the road is bumpy
If somehow we should slip
Well, I know I won't be falling
'Cause we're joined at the hip
Three friends
Three friends
Three friends.

Great lyrics.  I of course am very moved by Lauren's words-they bring back such great memories. ;)

Quote
From the producers of THE MIRACLE WORKER revival......

http://www.theatermania.com/broadway/news/03-2010/miracle-worker-producer-issues-statement-about-bro_25532.html

I think that THEATERMANIA managing editor, Dan Bacalzo, should check his facts before he runs an article.  Helen Keller was not born blind and deaf.  She became bind and deaf at the age of two, following an unknown illness.

Is the theater manager young?  It is the only way I can imagine someone not knowing this bit of information.

Then we went to my church gig where we had our pictures taken for the directory and also bought numerous extra shots of all four of us.  The photographer got the boys to hug for one pose, which is the only time I've ever seen them in that particular configuration.  ;)

I've been away from the computer conducting a test of our smoke detector broiling bacon-wrapped filets mignon.  Add baked potatoes and green beans and we had a fabulous dinner.  And now we know the smoke alarm works.

I used to have problems with my smoke detector going off a lot too.  I wish there was a way (without turning off the smoke detector) to tell the smoke detector that you are only cooking.

I'm much more careful now. I open the window in the kitchen. But not much smoke from cooking can easily set off the alarm.

I am excited to watch the Oscars tomorrow. And even better for me the same station that is showing the Oscars here shows TAR. So they are showing it from 7-8pm. Yeah!

Tomorrow my niece is going to see Disney on Ice- Princesses On Ice (her first time seeing an ice show). Today she asked if i would like to go with her. I told her that you had to buy the tickets in advance and that her tickets had assigned seats. So she proceeded to ask her mom if her friend (that she is going with) would have the seat beside hers. She didn't want to sit beside a stranger.

More worrisome is that I will be watching the 9 month old for approximately 4 hours. She is a momma's girl and often cries when her mom is not there.  I am guessing we will have to take her for a walk (she likes that). Although a 4 hour walk seems kind of long.

I don't know about in Canada but here they are now installed farther away from the cooking appliances.  People have a tendency to take the batteries out when they go off too often.

What a great solution! :)

I'm trying to remember what i used to cook that made the smoke detector go off so often. I know bacon is the worst.

Mine is not that close to the kitchen. But it goes off (or used to go off) fairly easily.

My sister's i think is upstairs. And she can cook anything and it won't go off. But for a while i was almost afraid to make anything iffy. Because i'd set it off like 3 or 4 times.

Red carpet is still rolled up Ryan Seacrest's car trunk.  He won't roll it out until tomorrow morning.

However, I think if you look closely tonight you might see Edy Williams and Sally Kirkland walking around over there.

Oh there will be tears. I babysat her for 1 1/2 hours on friday. Usually when i babysit my mom is there too. It is so much easier with 2 people. But on friday she cried, then threw her food on the floor. And then i had to get her dressed to go outside, and put her carseat in her stroller, while holding her. And then she started crying while i was putting on my jacket.

Tomorrow my brother-in-law will be there too for part of the time. Although every time my sister has left the baby with him she's cried almost the whole time.

We don't get the E! channel in canada anymore. I really liked it while we had it. I liked watching ryan seacrest do the red carpets. I could watch an hour or two of fashion. But i guess i will only get the 30 minute pitiful ABC coverage from 8-8:30pm.

I think I am gonna go watch last week's MEDIUM.   Earlier i watched WHITE COLLAR, which i still love.  Oddly enough i didn't care for Matt Bomer that much on either GUIDING LIGHT or CHUCK. But he just shines on WC. Such an amazing part.

I ate a little of this, a little of that, and before I knew it I was too stuffed to do my exercises.  I had better go do a few stretches now.

I didn't mean to eat so much as I either have a bug that as been causing migraine symptoms or I've had a migraine that is causing me to be sick.  Last night was the only time my head was really bad.  Once I did some heaving over the toilet I felt well enough to get some sleep.  Poor Keith thought I had hurt myself & was in the bathroom sobbing.  Maybe I was, I have an aversion to barfing & make more noise than action.;D

I think I'm getting better.  I didn't get sick until after PT yesterday & I was able to join Keith & Sherlock for a trip to the dog park & a nice walk on this beautiful day.  The fresh air felt wonderful.

I liked him very much on CHUCK and was actually quite angry when he wasn't made a regular once we saw him in a few episodes. But I guess there wasn't any need to have two guys who were, in effect, Capt. Awesome in Chuck's life, one personally and one professionally. Of course, with Brandon Routh, we do have that now.

When I went back down, I finished YOJIMBO. Hadn't seen it in quite some time, so I enjoyed it so much, and looking at it with a more ciritical eye now than 20 years ago, I just marveled at some of those compositions, the action set pieces, and the great performers.

There actually weren't that many bonus features. Aside from the commentary, there was a 45-minute excerpt from that Kurosawa TV retrospective special on his great films, two trailers, and a stills gallery. I was finished much earlier than I thought I'd be.
