Well, you've read the notes, the notes dashed, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently trying to cut back on their em dashes.

And the word of the day is: MANDARIN!

And now - Dino at the piano.

And the word of the day is: MANDARIN!
It's all Chinese to me

Yes we have no compression.
We have no compression today!

BRAINEX is in Indiana in April as well.

NIPPON GIRLS.....I shall have to check that CD out .

I have a coffee table book called
RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN by Ethan Morrden that has some beautiful photos of the original stage productions.
BROADWAY MUSICALS by Martin Gottfried, more great photos....an OVERSIZED book.
DAVID O. SELZNICK'S HOLLYWOOD by Ronald Haver -- a BIG book with lots of photos from all the of the films and great text
JAMES DEAN AMERICAN ICON by David Dalton and Ron Cayen
-
Married to It arrived at my house yesterday....I shall listen to it tomorrow.
-
Because today is a work day. Oh well.

Last night DR MattH rated the 2008 Oscar contenders:
1. DOUBT
2. WALL-E
3. THE READER
4. MILK
5. BENJAMIN BUTTON
6. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
7. CHANGELING
8. FROST/NIXON
I've also seen all of these movies, although for some it has been a while. Here is from my memory how i would rate them (although i did like them all):
1.The Reader
2.Changeling
3.Frost-Nixon
4.Slumdog Millionaire
5.Doubt
6.Benjamin Button
7.Milk
8.Wall-E

Off to work! Oh well...........last day this week at least.

That's interesting BK about using a lot of dashes when you write. I almost never use dashes. But then again maybe you don't in everyday writing either.
-
And the word of the day is: MANDARIN!
And The Song Of The Day Is: CHOP SUEY

TOD: I have echo Jrand about the Selznick book. I also enjoy HOLLYWOOD: THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS, THE BARRYMORES: Hollywood's First Family; and LONDON 360 with some terrific fold-out pictures of London places in 360 view.

Good morning, all! My intentions of rising early were dampened by the inconsiderate person above me, who likes to clump havly around the floor between 1:30 and 3 am. As I mentioned previously, even the earplugs are accomplishing very little.
So, today I continue my BABES IN TOYLAND proofing on the "Evaline McCook" fixes; I caught a doozy last night because of a colleague's habit of assigning work without letting me know. In this case, although I had sent him revisions, I think he passed on the wrong materials, so why do it once when it can be done two or three times?
Tonight I'm seeing the High School of Performing Arts (of FAME fame) performing Victor Herbert's NAUGHTY MARIETTA; I want to see the high school girl who can carry off the "Italian Street Song." I hope the production is absolutely wonderful, and I'm really happy to know that a high school is performing Victor Herbert and not HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC 35. So, I'll meet my friend Joseph for Chinese food at 6 and then we'll see some operetta.
TURN YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD TONIGHT, FOLKS!
-
Saturday morning greetings! It's very rainy here in SW Ohio, but at least we don't have to shovel it. I have a haircut appointment this morning and I think we're going to see CRAZY HEART this afternoon.
-
TOD - I also have a copy of the Gottfried book mentioned by DR JRand. It was one of the first gifts I received from DH Richard (long before he was my DH).
Another favorite is Thou Swell, Thou Witty: The Life and Lyrics of Lorenz Hart by Dorothy Hart. It was also a gift and has a lovely May 3, 1979, inscription from the giver - our very own DR Elmore.
-
TOD:
Martin Gottfried's first book on BROADWAY MUSICALS
Frank Rich's THEATRE ART OF BORIS ARONSON
Christopher Finch's THE ART OF WALT DISNEY
Andrew Stiller's HANDBOOK OF INSTRUMENTATION
I also like very much the W.W. Norton "Annotated" editions of classics, from Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes to Classic Fairy Tales and The Wizard of Oz

BK, the em dash is something many of us use and abuse in our writing. But do you like them better for asides than parentheses? Also, no matter how many you have used in your manuscript, I doubt that you have come close to the number in "Zuleika Dobson," Max Beerbohm's novel from 1911 -- that's 99 years ago! (to throw in both an em and a parens). I thought my eyes were going to bug out seeing so many on the page before I started focusing on the words.
Funny thing is, we had a few em dashes in the first issue of San Antonio Taste magazine, which is finally hitting newsstands, but our designer had the hardest time getting them right. He kept getting them confused with hyphens and en dashes and we kept sending the same pages back again and again for correction.
-
TOD: My first coffee table book remains one of my favorites, Robert Kimball's "Cole" with all its photographs of Cole Porter's luxurious early years and the beauty of his shows without glossing over the hardships he faced after his horse-riding accident. And the lyrics! They were candy to someone who has always loved words.
Since then, some of my favorites have included the Gottleib "Broadway Musicals" as well as the entire series of "Complete Lyrics" from Porter to Mercer. Abbeville released "Great Magazine Covers of the World" in the early 80s, which has some excellent designs. The magnificent "Winged Migration" is an excellent companion to the bird lover's film.
On my coffee table right now are a volume of Miro paintings and the cookbook "Fat," which brilliant photos of everything from bacon to butter. Just a few photos into it, and you can feel your arteries stand at attention.

Good morning!
It's an absolutely glorious morning here with moderate temperatures and just acres of sunshine after about two inches of rain last night. Spring is definitely here!
-
Yes, I simply HATE that daylight savings time is beginning so early again this year (and I guess for the rest of my life). Now I'll go back to walking in the dark in the morning for the next month.
-
TOD:
I also thought that the SELZNICK book was great.
There was also another one that, as I recall, was titled THE MOVIES. It had a bright red cover.
-
My work project today is OSSOS (translated BONES from Portuguese), the first of three films this weekend by Pedro Costa. I think these movies are going to be depressing gauging from the liner notes, but I'll see for myself starting tonight. OSSOS is the shortest of the three films in the box. The other two are both over 2 1/2 hours each (one of them is only 9 minutes short of THREE hours).
And there are 199 minutes of supplements in the box set (they're on their own disc), so I won't be finishing with this until Monday evening. Then, the TOY STORY films should arrive on Tuesday.
-
My favorites (TOD):
BROADWAY MUSICALS
THE 100 GREATEST MUSICALS
DAVID O. SELZNICK'S HOLLYWOOD
HOLLYWOOD MUSICALS

I'm up very early, aren't I?

I'm going to clear up a few desktop items and then head downstairs to begin the day's viewing.

I should have remembred that.
Arthur Knight was a good friend.

I also liked that series of books that listed/critiqued every movie that a particular studio made (e.g. THE WARNER BROTHERS STORY, THE RKO STORY, etc.).
Aside from being nice looking, they were/are excellent for reference.

GLAAD has weigned in on the end of Kish on ONE LIFE TO LIVE; I guess after praising the show for its really brave achievements, they're rightfully pissed to see the producers and network run like cowards to turn the show back to a heterosexual-only love affair program, with its serial rapist turned into a good guy and a lot of plots over who can steal whom from whoever or screw around behind whathisname's back.

T.O.D.
Broadway: The American Musical by Laurence Maslon
Titanic: An Illustrated History by Donald Lynch, Robert D. Ballard, and Ken Marschall
Titanic: The Last Great Images by Robert D. Ballard - This book will actually never sit on a coffee table, because it is a leather-bound copy that is signed by Robert Ballard. It stays in the display case with the signed A Night to Remember, the Titanic coal, and the White Star china.

Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's raining here in New York City. And it's windy. In fact, more wind than rain at this time. But it was still nice to sleep in today. :)

The house is being shown twice today. Pray for Rosemary's second mortgage. ;)

DR JMK - Is your current house "staged" for showing, selling?

I also have the movies, most of the major composer lyric books, and all the studio "Story" books. Also A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE THEATRE, TALKIES, & SILENT FILMS...Daniel Blum books. On my library coffee table are art books of Frank Frazetta, Roy Krenkel, and Joseph Clement Coll.
I also have a great book called THE COMPLEAT GENTLEMAN, a terrific coffe table compendium with script of Korda's THIEF OF BAGHDAD. Several nice ones of London from the air and elsewhere, several of the British Empire, and one on Ancient Warfare.

As for the Topic of the Day...
The first one that came to mind was one of Ken Haak's tomes... ;)
Otherwise...
I have a couple of Van Gogh and Seurat "picture" books. I still remember going "crazy" at a clearance sale at the National Gallery of Art in DC. Boy were those books a lot to carry back on the subway - HEAVY!!
Besides the previously listed usual suspects, I currently have a copy of Darcie Denkert's "A Fine Romance - Hollywood & Broadway: The Magic. The Mayhem. The Musicals" (http://www.amazon.com/Fine-Romance-Hollywood-Broadway-Musicals/dp/0823077748/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268504644&sr=8-1) sitting in front of me. Some of the side-by-side - Broadway-by-Movie - scene stills are quite striking.

So...
About last night...
Last night's concert by the Kronos Quartet was quite varied to say the least. They were featured in three of the six works on the program, while the remaining "solo" duties were handled by the toy piano(!) virtuoso, Margaret Leng Tan, and (Victor) Gama playing some homemade Portuguese-inspried instruments.
The last time I heard Kronos live was probably about 15 if not 20 years ago - back before they started getting really experimental. Last night was a very happy "reunion". Some of the pieces had multi-media (film and sound) elements to them, and the last piece of the program was a mash-up of string quartet, pedal steel, various hand instruments and four computers! It was groovin'!
There was also a "Meet and Greet" with the Artists and Composers after the concert. I basically just mingled and observed. -I still get very nervous and intimidated(?) when I'm in the presence of great Classical musicians. ::)
-
And then came the Fête de Campagne at Landmarc....
To the left: Mussels - Classic (white wine and shallots), Classic-Plus (white wine, shallots, rosemary and bacon).
On the tables: Crudités - asparagus, radishes, carrots, fennel; served with butter (both "cold" and melted) and coarse salt. Goose-Fat fries with aioli. Tarte Flambé.
The the right: Grilled Sausages (merguez, boudin blanc, boudin noir, lamb with parsley, lamb kidneys wrapped in bacon); pork rillettes, duck rillettes; chicken liver mousse; various terrines.
In the middle: Cheese! -At least 10 different varieties - including a ridiculously running triple-cream Camembert.
And to the far right: Desserts! Individual tarte tatins; cream puffs, eclairs, chocolate-meringue "cake", chocolate-orange gateau, crêpes (made and filled to order), etc., etc., etc.
And the wait staff walked around with trays of pinot noir, sancerre, sauvignon blanc and their special cocktail for the evening: The French Pearl (2 parts gin, dash of mint, ricard & lime juice). I had two. ;)
Needless to say, I ate well, I drank well, and I had a splendid time overall. It was also great to see "Chopped" judge, Chef Marc Murphy and his partner, Chef Mark Proto, walking around the restaurant and checking in on everyone.
-
*Today I slept in. And I plan on subsisting on a diet of green tea, oatmeal and raw fruits and vegetables today. ;)
-
Underpants!

-Well, someone had to say it.

Hello, everyone.
I am STILL recovering from yesterday's trip to the dentist! In addition to a nap yesterday I slept 9 1/2 hours. It really knocked me out!
Thank you to DRs Jane, Ginny, Laura, and Cillaliz for the much-needed vibes.

JRand, I have a wonderful photo of my uncle, Ed Fitzgerald, and David O. Selznick while shooting. I don't know which film it's from. I wonder if it's in your book. If you spot it, please let me know the name of the film.

Good day one and all. I think my deer need to do what bears do ...%#*@ in the woods!! I got some of it cleaned out of the yard, but it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I did get all the corn cobs from the corn I put out for the squirrels cleaned up, two beer bottles, a few broken solar lights and a McDonald's cup. There is going to be A LOT of work to do on the yard this year, but at least it looks a lot better than it did.
-
I am making a boiled New England dinner. I like corned beef and cabbage but like it with potatoes and carrots better. It's a little early for St Pats day, but I'll just celebrate it early. I make this every year to celebrate.

Cillaliz's deer drink beer? Maybe they should do as the bears do and chuck their beer bottles elsewhere!

Tomorrow I'm driving to my parents to take my mom her early birthday present. She wanted a copy machine, lol. She doesn't want to use my dad's all in one, she wants her own. They had a small laser home office model at Staples on sale with a $100 rebate and I traded in a printer for another $50 off and 8 used ink cartridges for another $24. So I was able to get a lot more machine than I would have ordinarily been able to get. It looks like a good machine. I wanted laser instead of inkjet. I have a feeling she may go months at a time without using it and the inkjet would likely dry out.
I think what she really wants to do is copy her volumes of geneology research and other things to give to each of us. She used to go to my dad's office to copy things, but it's not my dad's office anymore. Anyway, she's the hardest person in the world to shop for, so if this is what she wants this is what she gets, lol. She's very excited that I'm delivering it tomorrow.
-
Awaiting DR Julie's report on the wonderful Dame Edna.

Must get a few things done.

LOL! The beer bottles were actually right next to the tree where the deer slept on the really cold bitter nights. If I had known they had beer I may have gone out and joined them

House showing vibes to JMK~~~~~~~~~ I've always just moved everything out when I sold in the past. It's easier for me to have it be empty than the stress of living there and showing or to try to stage it.

This should get us to page 3
-
So where is everyone today?
-
Page three??? ENOUGH already.
-
Druxy - Arthur Knight was no friend of mine, for reasons that will become instantly apparent when my book is read.
-
Back from all sorts of errands and whatnot, breakfast, and I've been through half the book finding all the em dashes that Grant's program SHOULD have found but missed. This is the first book where it's missed virtually ninety percent of them. He clearly did something wrong in his initial global search for them. It's probably for the best, because now we'll change the majority of them to something else, but I find two or three on every page. Really annoying.
-
So where is everyone today?
We just got back from seeing CRAZY HEART.
-
Off to see Wicked tonight
-
Good Afternoon!
It's WINDY here in New York City. Flight delays. Flickering lights. Garbage being blown through the air. Crazy!
-
it's time to head out for dinner and see NAUGHTY MARIETTA. I hope it will be a lot of fun.

I watched several DVRed programs today.
Before lunch, I watched Thursday night's 30 ROCK. Pretty much devoid of humor this week. I find this a very overrated show most weeks (though occasionally they do have a good, funny episode). This week's show was one of the poorest in recent memory.
-
I watched MEDIUM while I was eating lunch. Superb episode, really gripping and out of the show's usual formula somewhat.
I could have sworn that we have seen episodes in earlier seasons with the teenaged Allison already being fully aware of her psychic powers. Be that as it may, the episode was still quite wonderful and genuinely disturbing in places.
-
Watched GHOST WHISPERER, too. A scary episode and one of the best of the season, I felt.
-
I've only got about 100 pages left to proof and I have to say if I never see another hyphen with a space on either side (the way I call out an em dash) it will be too damn soon.
-
Wow, what a great season finale for WHITE COLLAR!
-
Did anyone mention tonight is Daylight Savings? If so, I missed it.
-
So where is everyone today?
We just got back from seeing CRAZY HEART.
AND?

it's time to head out for dinner and see NAUGHTY MARIETTA. I hope it will be a lot of fun.
Be careful out there. It's not pretty.
-
WOW!
My friend, Allen, who lives in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, just spotted someone swimming(!) across his street. The bay has flooded his neighborhood.
*And this was just reported too:
"JFK tower confirmed its wind measuring equipment blew off the building and shattered on the ramp."
-
And now parts of the subway system have been shut down due to weather-related power failures. -I really hope that DR elmore is not stuck underground right now.

Surprisingly I'm rather good at putting a house in order to sell, must be all my experience over the years. I'm even good at keeping it perfect for showing at a moment's notice, unless I'm cooking or something.
Keith, not surprisingly, can make a house look professionally staged. We know this because realtors have asked if it was.
-
And now parts of the subway system have been shut down due to weather-related power failures. -I really hope that DR elmore is not stuck underground right now.
I hope not!!!
-
We are having a beautiful sunny day. Keith let me do MY hike today, which is longer & than his. :D The panoramic views with the snow covered mountains are exceptionally beautiful.
-
Our weather has been a little bit of everything today. The forecast had called for rain all day, so I was surprised this morning how sunny it was outside (It is always sunny inside my place!). Then as I came outside after lunch it started raining. Since then it can't seem to make up its mind what it wants to do.
However, I got my spring haircut yesterday, so it had damn well better be spring.
-
This afternoon I took my daughter to see the tour of Avenue Q.
-
Daylight Savings Time? We don't need longer days in the summer in Arizona. They are long enough!
-
Daylight Savings Time is going to come really early if we don't get some postin' goin' on. Page three at 5:26 = new all-time low. New all-time low = annoyed BK. Annoyed BK = well, I don't think we want to go there.
-
I also went to the arboretum for the spring plant sale. Now I have to dig 13 more holes.
-
This afternoon I took my daughter to see the tour of Avenue Q.
Did you and/or daughter learn or see anything new?
-
WHOA!
Here's a clip of the current conditions in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Can you find the sidewalk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb49S1Y7D5Y)?
WHOA!
*I hope DR vixmom and the vixfamily are not dealing with similar conditions.

And now....

DR JEANNE - your uncle was the camera operator on Mr Selznick's SINCE YOU WENT AWAY.

MR BK's book is 416 pages?!!!
-
Did anyone mention tonight is Daylight Savings? If so, I missed it.
I really had no idea this was happening tonight until earlier today.
-
Spring is really here early this year. It is supposed to be mid 50s this week. Yeah!
-
Watched GHOST WHISPERER, too. A scary episode and one of the best of the season, I felt.
It was pretty scary. I agree it was good. But i wonder if the show is getting too dark.
-
DR JEANNE - your uncle was the camera operator on Mr Selznick's SINCE YOU WENT AWAY.
THANKS, JACK! So the photo's in your book, huh? The IMDB says SINCE YOU WENT AWAY was produced in 1944, which makes sense, because Eddie was still slim and dashing in that photo. All my memories of him are of a heavy-set man.
My cousin Marion SHOULD be the family historian, as she grew up in Old Hollywood, but I'm afraid she lost much of her memory long ago. And I came along too late and missed much of the action!!
-
BETTER-WEATHER VIBES to all those in need! Yikes!

I could have sworn that we have seen episodes in earlier seasons with the teenaged Allison already being fully aware of her psychic powers. Be that as it may, the episode was still quite wonderful and genuinely disturbing in places.
It was definitely an interesting episode seeing their wedding. And so interesting that they were able to use the same actors and actually make them seem like they were younger. I also was confused about when allison knew she had psychic powers. They have definitely shown a different actress playing a teenaged allison. And I remember her having some psychic powers. Although i can't really remember the extent. In last night's show they made it seem like she was discovering her powers for the first time. That was sort of confusing.
-
Good thing I woke up early this morning. So it won't be hard to fall asleep early.
-
Although at 10pm i may start watching the premiere (here, it was on the CW on wed) of AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL.
Or I may watch Wolfgang Puck. He is on the Shopping Channel (in canada). I love watching him cook!
-
I guess there will be no CBS shows next thurs or fri due to basketball.
-
I always dislike having an hour taken from me. Harrummph!
-
DR JEANNE I was making an assumption from the IMDB listings....the picture of your uncle in my SELZNICK book shows him as the Camera Operator on DUEL IN THE SUN....with director King Video cinematographer Hal Rossen.

I saw that earlier today. I read until I fall asleep, however long it takes. If I don't read it takes even longer.
-
Did anyone mention tonight is Daylight Savings? If so, I missed it.
I mentioned it in my "good morning" message at the start of the day's posting.
-
I guess there will be no CBS shows next thurs or fri due to basketball.
Correct.
-
When I went back down, I watched OSSOS (BONES). I take it all of these three films are going to take place in this ghetto in Lisbon which are rife with drug dealers, prostitutes, and a general level of severe poverty.
Definitely not a feel good movie. An unmarried young couple has a baby which is subsequently taken by the father who tries to use the baby as a way of street begging. When that doesn't generate much money, he begins searching for someone who will purchase the baby from him. Meanwhile back at home, the baby's mother who knew nothing of this plan tries to take her own life on a couple of occasions.
Nope, not feel good at all, and very minimal. There's very little dialogue and what little there is never lets us inside the characters to see what makes them tick. So, I found the movie very unsatisfying. Yes, it's a fairly interesting slice of Portuguese life in the lower depths, but I prefer films that offer some insight into characters, and this offers ZERO.

And if one were to read the newspaper or watch the news... ;)

Even though there is an entire disc of bonus features with the box set, there were five bonus features on this disc, so I watched all of them tonight, too. No commentary, but a couple of featurettes where important folks praise the film to the skies.

Well, yeah, there's always that . . . .
:D

I ended my evening watching THE HISTORY BOYS. Or I should say rewatching since I've seen it several times. The wordplay is so fascinating with this piece, and I always gets a kick out of it.
-
I also enjoy THE HISTORY BOYS very much and wish I had seen the original cast onstage.

Everybody is short one hour.....so get busy!

Me, too. One of my great regrets. It must have been a wonderful stage experience.

Now, I've got some writing to do, so I'll get to that and then head down to get a night of abbreviated sleep with a walk in the dark tomorrow morning as a welcome to spring kick in the pants.
Good night!

Well, I hate to be a wussburger (actually I enjoy it), but I need to get to bed.
Early to bed and early to rise makes Tom look less haggard!

I just a rather curt e-mail from my late friend Stan's niece and her husband wanting to know if they were ever going to be allowed to get some family pictures and things out of Stan's house. I apologized, but told them that I have nothing to do with the house or the contents since the estate was settled. I am guessing that Mark is not speaking to the family.

G'night!

So, tonight I was in line for the Men's Room at intermission, and behind me a young man around 17 years of age said to his friend, "Isn't it wonderful?" And his friend replied, "I'm having a good time and the house is full." I agreed with both of them, as I thought, this is a good thing indeed.
And the good thing indeed? It was tonight's final performance of Victor Herbert's 1910 operetta NAUGHTY MARIETTA at the High School of Performing Arts. The libretto was played with fast and loose, but it was never a great libretto and the director did a lot of tinkering with it: the ending was more G&S than Rida Johnson Young, the young men weren't as vocally adept as the ladies, but I just saw one hundred students perform with great humor and energy an operetta by Victor Herbert, accompanied by an enthusiastic student orchestra with a concert master who played the violin solos beautifully.
The set was simple and beautiful, the costumes ran a gamut of periods and I wondered why Marietta never dressed her hair up for her appearance at the ball. I also wondered why she wasn't being passed off as Rudolfo's son, but I suspect she was too beautiful and curvy to let the audience sustain more belief. But it was a very full reading of the original score, the chorus work was very good, but the tempo for the Convent Girls appearance in the opening was too fast for a group of demure Catholic school girls to walk and the chorus to sing about.
The score was kicked around a bit; "'Neath the Southern Moon" was moved to Act Two so Adah could have a yearning solo under a large moon following a cut number, "Mr Voodoo," and scene with the Voodoo Queen. Our villain Etienne was deservedly given a second solo, "I Want What I Want When I Want It," and Simon and Lisette got the duet "Sweethearts" for the last scene. The old Metropolitan Opera version of LA PERICHOLE had interpolations from several Offenbach works as well, and it never bothered me. Besides, I was completely caught up in the sheer pleasure and knowledge that a lot of high school students would be graduating with the knowledge that they had performed in - or seen and cheered for - a show 100 years old, written long before there was a HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL or an AMERICAN IDOL style of singing, when melodies soared - and they do soar in NAUGHTY MARIETTA - and I thought, these works will last and never be completely lost. And I am very happy.

I'm watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray.

I did. First thing this morning.

Elmore -- :)

This afternoon I took my daughter to see the tour of Avenue Q.
How was it? I'm seeing it in a few weeks

It was hilarious.

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was incredible tonight. After listening to the first song I decided that next time I go to New York I want to go see an opera. The house was packed and the ovations just didn't stop. She did either 3 or 4 encores, the last one was a capella. One of the best parts of the evening was hearing her beautiful voice and the symphony orchestra without any amplification. The sound is SO much better without having it go through the sound system. She did use a mic on a couple of the show tunes and apologized but said the arrangements really required it.

Thanks Laura, I can't believe I didn't see it on one of my trips to NYC. Even more surprising is I've never see Beauty and the Beast. It will be here next weekend
-
Our conductor, Ryan Haskins, is very young...maybe in his late 20s. He's brought a new energy to the Symphony and it's been a real joy to go this year.

Stay warm and dry to those on the East coast ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Awaiting DR Julie's report on the wonderful Dame Edna.
There is nothing like a Dame.

That rainstorm looks downright biblical!
-
We're back to hanging sconces and wrangling archival footage; exactly where we were last weekend before parental drama occurred.
-
Page 6 em dash dance!
-
I had never heard of that until today. I had to look it up on Wiki and saw that they used an excerpt from one of my favorite books, "The Mezzanine', as an example.
-
Today I took a break and took Greg's sister to the American Craft Council show---museum quality work of fabric, pottery, wood turning, glass blowing, jewelry, etc. It was nice to see all of the clothes and art that we would buy if we won the lottery. I did buy a few small things but exercised more restraint than in years past.
-
Tomorrow morning I'm off to see my parents. I'm still getting a kick out of how excited my mom is about the copier....which reminds me, I need to see what I need for the rebate
-
Finished with my viewing and am listening to music. Next book session will be Tuesday evening - I fear we won't be able to finish everything - the photos and all the damned em dash and bad break fixes. We shall see.
-
I also enjoy THE HISTORY BOYS very much and wish I had seen the original cast onstage.
I saw the original production at the National in London; the cast of the movie is, I believe, the exact same cast in the film. There may be one or two changes in the boys, but I don't think so...It was a stunning production onstage, by the by.

And it was quite wonderful at The Broadhurst during it's run on Broadway.

Sounds like it was a great concert. -Did she talk about her recent appearance at The Met in The Daughter of the Regiment - in a primarily speaking role? -And I'm guessing her final encore was a Maori song. ??

BRAINEX is in Indiana in April as well.

So where is everyone today?
I'm home and have been since about 6:00 pm. I went to work today and afterward, did a bit of shopping then came home and watched several hours of TV. While I was watching TV, I was also printing CD booklets for some library CDs that I copied to replace a few of my stolen CDs. Almost exactly five years ago. It was May 2005...I found my eBay e-mails. I bought 300 sheets of 11x17 matte photo paper very cheaply. I had them cut in half and got 600 8 1/2x11 sheets! Anyway, I just ran out a couple of weeks ago. So, I bought 600 sheets of something called inkjet presentation paper to replace what I'd gotten before and it just arrived today! It's a bit lighter in weight than the matte photo paper (and is a bit more see-through, but not horribly so), but it's a bit brighter and prints very nicely. I've printed four multi-page booklets and am about to scan then print two more. Since I'm replacing a bunch of CDs, I don't think that this batch will last five years, but I'll certainly enjoy using them. :)
