Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Indiana-like and brainy, and now it is time for you to post until the brainy cows come home.

As for Cracker Barrel... Well... I've driven past quite a few of them, and I've stepped inside one.  Once.  I guess I'm still hung up in a way on their past discriminatory practices against homosexuals during the 1990s.  They had a company policy of firing homosexuals, well, rather those individuals who "fail to demonstrate normal heterosexual values".  I'm not saying that I'd never eat in a Cracker Barrel, but, as I stated earlier, if there's a Perkins nearby, all bets are off.

And...

We were sold out tonight. :)

The audience was great. :)

There was a cast party afterwards.  Although, with a cast of two - Kathy and myself - it was more of just a party.  :)

All in all, a very nice evening.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I go through Moon Pie phases (pun not intended) every now and then.  I like some of the flavors, but I still prefer the original.  -And I usually put them in the microwave oven for about 10 seconds to gently "goo" them up a bit.

The only other "kid's candies" that I find myself craving every now and then are Necco Wafers and Whoppers Malted Milk Balls.

Oh...

bk - Since you usually make sure to get to the airport early (as suggested by the airline), it's won't be the end of the world if you can't print out your boarding pass ahead of time.  Since you're not checking luggage, all you have to do is go to the kiosk, punch in your confirmation number or scan your passport, and you're all set.  It will give you something to do while you're at the airport.  ;)

*And by doing that you can also check for last minute seating assignments, changes.  -Are you an exit row type? (for the extra leg room)

Indeed.

And I must say that it was a dee-light to at last meet MR BK and DR CP - and the fun they had was matched by myself and Evil Kurt.....who I hope will return to post here....

Many cast members also promised to populate these parts, so hopefully that will happen as well.

And now I must get ready for work....oh well.

Good morning, all! I love the photos!

I am so happy that the show went well and that everyone had a great time. I wish that circumstances had let me go to Ohio this weekend so I could have spent time with DRs Ginny and Dakotacelt and seen THE BRAIN.  Alas, not the week of April 15th, I'm sorry to say, but I was there in spirit. I really would have loved to meet DRs JRand and Charles Pogue, so perhaps on my next Ohio jaunt I can make a few treks around the hood. I still think THE BRAIN should be a Comedy Central or SyFy Channel extravaganza. Bring on the photos!

Today, I am packing up a couple of more Ohio-bound cartons and working on reports for the two Victor Herbert shows. Then more BONES! I am obsessed.

It's pouring outside again, so I don't know what my plans for the day will be. I was supposed to sell beer at an outdoor event called Fiesta Oyster Bake at which you can but oysters of all types, from baked to on the half shell. But with the rain, it might be canceled. Who knows. But we need the rain, so I'm not complaining.

Last night's tamale fest was actually completely indoors at a renovated church that was nothing but the stone walls and a gorgeous hardwood floor, so it was perfect for such events. About 10 restaurants and caterers offers everything from traditional to sweet tamales in various shapes and forms. Favorites included a contemporary one made with crawfish meat and had a cheesy bechamel sauce over the top and a dessert tamale with plenty of pecan and a touch of fresh pineapple in it.

One thing that won't be rained out is a trip to a dive bar tonight called the Hangin' Tree Saloon. A friend is driving down from Austin to hear a cowboy singer/songwriter she loves named James Hand. He's really quite good at what he does, so there will be plenty of two-stepping and western waltzes, longneck beers and broken hearts by the end of the evening.

TOD: I read a fun book on old-fashioned candies a couple of years ago called "Candyfreak" by Steve Almond, who sort of ate his way aross the country in search of the better, lesser-known candies and candy bars such as Charleston Chews, Goo Goo Clusters, and Peanut Chews. Seems many of these regional treats are still made, but you won't find them on candy shelves because the major companies have bought up all the available shelf space.

We have a liquor store in town called Spec's that carries all of these little brands, including Fizzy Drink Tablets and Chuckles.

My favorites? Mallo Cups. I probably couldn't eat a pack now, given my diabetes and the highly sweet nature of the marshmallow cream, but, boy, did I ever put away my share when I was a kid.

DR Jose,

I had never thought about putting moon pies in the microwave. I usually like them, but sometimes they are a bit dry, and this sound like it would help that circumstance a lot. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm eager to have a free day today. I have some phone calls to make and some DVR stuff I want to get watched. TOnight, I want to finally watch RESURRECTION which I haven't seen in years, and I'll likely watch another Warner Archive disc, too, unless I get a hankering for something on Blu-ray instead.

The forecast said rain for today, but it's beautiful outside now. My walk was very pleasant, and I wondered then if the weathermen got it wrong. Of course, clouds could easily move in later, but it is certainly a beautiful spring day right now.

FRIDAY'S TOD

no videos planned

but  I did go see Death At A Funeral. It was quite funny, but there were several moments  where it dragged. However IMHO James Marsden stole the film from Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence and Tracey Morgan.

And I saw McGuire on a touring production of show tunes that he did with Debbie Gravitte. This was about 15 years ago and it was playing the seniors circuit. This stop was in Sarasota, Fla. His voice was great, but his presence was a bit wooden, so I could see where he might not get his choice of parts.

Well, after some Googling and my own personal recollections...

Jere, I believe, is still living in Boston, and is still working as a consultant and fund-raiser for various organizations.  My godfather worked alongside him a few years ago during a campaign for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.  I've also heard from a couple of students at Boston College - his alma mater - that he pops back in from time to time for lectures and coaching sessions.

Frances Ruffelle is still alive and well and working in London. I believe she's concentrating now on more solo work, however, I know she appeared in Chicago as Roxie Hart a couple of times across the pond.  You could also check her WEB SITE (http://francesruffelle.com/) - which is still somewhat in progress.  She's also on Twitter: @frankieruff (http://twitter.com/frankieruff).  *I really love that her daughter (with her director/husband, Trevor Nunn) is named "Eliza Doolittle". :)

According to Michael Maguire's (http://www.zunshine.com/maguire/index.html) website, he finished up his law degree in Los Angeles last year.

Leilani Jones has been doing voice over work for video games, most notably Monkey Island (http://www.worldofmi.com/gamehelp/walk/monkey1.php).

Robert Westenberg is now a theatre professor at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.  I see his name on resumes from time to time. Always makes me smile.  And don't forget his Cinderella and wife, Kim Crosby.  She was Sally in Follies up at Barrington a few years ago, and they played opposite each other in My Fair Lady - as Eliza and Higgins - at the St. Louis MUNY a few seasons back.

And that's all I got.

Right after Grind, she appeared as Anita in West Side Story at the Kennedy Center.  I think it was supposed to be the first stop on a tour that never happened. Rex Smith was Tony. ::)  I saw it on a high school field trip.

Never had a moon pie. Don't even know what a moon pie is.

But I do love Chalava, (Marbled or chocolate covered)

Favorite Canadian chocolate bars

Coffee Crisp
Aero
Mr. Big

I honestly had no idea that aero and coffee crisp were not available in the US. I would think that aero would be very popular.  Very weird to me that we have different chocolate bars.

Back from a lovely lunch at Red Robin and a not so lovely trip to  Walmart.

Had the mushroom burger and fries with a delicious, refreshing cocktail, which is something I have not imbibed of in many moons.

There were policeman (state troopers, county sheriffs and city police) all over the restaurant as they were there to get donations for the special olympics. When handsome and toned Officer Frazzini came to our table to see if we would like to donate, well Jim and I couldn't resist.

Wondering what ever happen to the following Broadway musical performers

Ben Harney (Dreamgirls)*
Jere Shea (Passion)
Leilani Jones (grind)*
Brian Backer (The Flaoting Lightblub)* (Okay not a musical but still wondering)
Michael McGuire (Les Miz)*
Frances Ruffelle (Les Miz)*

Robert Westenberg (Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park With George)  (hasn't been on Broadway for 12 years

* Harney won a Tony award and never did another Broadway shiow. Jones, McGuire Ruffelle and Backer did one show and won a Tony Award and never did another Broadway show

Maguire was in the Lincoln Center A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC as Carl-Magnus. I think I've seen Ben Harney on NY-based TV shows like LAW & ORDER, but I wouldn't swear to it.

While lunch was cooking and while I was eating, I watched FLASH FORWARD. Absurd plot developments and irritating behavior from characters who are very off-putting. If we weren't so close to the end of the season, I'd drop this show like a stone.

Then I watched PROJECT RUNWAY. I was very disappointed in the selection of the third person for Fashion Week. The panel went with the person Heidi wanted, but she was wrong.

The primary question they were asking was "Whose collection do you want to see more of," and I can't believe they chose whom they did. Argh!

Looking forward to the runway shows of the other two designers, however.

And I began watching the season premiere of THE TUDORS. Henry has gotten to Catherine Howard now, but the show is kind of a joke with Jonathan Rhys Myers looking about 30 and still sporting the same slim look of his earlier days.

Still, it's the last season, so I'll stay with it to the end.

Hi all!  Just when you thought I was gone, here I am!

I'm finely starting to get settled down in the house.  Lord, I can't even BEGIN to tell you how nice it is to be back home!

I'm getting things back in order bit by bit.  Funny how some things work out.  People came and stole my ladders and my glider.  Thelma asked the lady who lived across the street from her if I could have her ladders since she was moving into a condo so I have both a 6 ft A frame and an extension ladder once again.

I bought a new glider (wood this time) but went ahead and chained it to the porch pole anyway.   So some of the things that were taken are replaced.

Yesterday, I picked up my newest member of our family, Toby, who is a little 7 month old boxer mix.  I had a feeling that he and Sheena would hit it off and I was very right!   :)

I just don't want to take Sheena to the dog park any more.  To many fights--humans not dogs--and I know for a fact that people drop their unwanted dogs off there but I heard that the last ones had parvo.

That really made my mind up to never go back but Sheena was so lonely and really missed playing with the other dogs.  Toby is going to keep her very busy.  They played all day today and are now pooped out on the floor and couch.

re: aero and the other chocolate listed

It is so weird to find out now that some of these chocolate bars i grew up with are not US chocolate bars.

I guess part of it is that most of the US tv I watch has Canadian commercials so i guess i wouldn't notice not seeing ads for these bars.

Unless you watch in HD or by satellite, here if you watch an American tv show that is on at the same time on a Canadian station they have to show the Canadian feed.

On the spot dispatch....

The car that drove us all around yesterday was in an accident at noon today.

Evil Kurt was hit from behind by a little old man in a big car and is now driving a rental car....his car may be totaled, it sets now at the Honda dealership.

We both agreed that if that is so, that the last trip taken in the car by EK, BK, CP, and ME was most memorable and a fine way for it to go out....if it is so.

Jennifer I don't remember the name of the cookie anymore.  Kraft owns a lot of products & I can't find it on their Canadian website.

At the time, they came in a bag, and I'm pretty sure have Ginger in the name.  The guy at the market told me they were extremely popular so I tried them.  They reminded me of the Pogens I used to love, and may have come in animal shapes.  They weren't too think like most Swedish style ginger cookies.

Thank you for welcome back DR Elmore and Cilla!  It just took some time for me to get back up on my feet.  Catching the version of whatever flu was going around the office didn't help any either.

I guess I was just so worn out from everything that was going on that I just couldn't shake it.  I finely had to go to the doctor who was horrified that I had waited over a month to come see him.  I was just so tired all of the time that I was barely making it in the door at night before I went to bed.  I tried to rest on the weekends but that didn't help either.  It seemed to get worse as the sun went down.

My doctor put me on some meds and that seemed to knock it out.  :)

Jane - good point.  I hadn't thought of the dancing as "exercise," but of course it is.   I had some sense from the photos of Jrand that something healthy was going on.

More to Jrand:  How odd, I guess the way I think of you is in your acting regalia

You are most kind, DR FJL....to mention it.

Yes I have been working on a diet....and acting regalia or street wear - losing 28 lbs makes a BIG difference.  I still am on the ball to lose about 18 more pounds, and I am not anywhere near what you might call svelte or even trim - I am getting there.  It doesn't help that in most of those pictures I am standing next to super thin super fit MR BK.

You are most welcome, DR CP.  And I must say that you were dressed up and looking quite spiffy last night - as the girls involved with BRAINEX INDIANA would agree I am sure.  Very sophisticated mustard yellow suit, mock turtle neck, and English style pocket handkerchief....most dashing.  I will tell the other DR's here that photographs simply do not do justice to our sophisticated leader MR BK and DR CP who both cut quite the striking figure in the flesh.

I don't really eat processed cookies, so I don't even know most of the kinds.  If i remember i'll check out the Kraft cookie aisle and see if anything has a ginger sounding name. But i don't know if i'll find them without a name.

I'd almost forgotten about vibes.

Thank you DR Jennifer!

I'm going to really miss my boss.  She is one special lady.  I remember when my Mom passed and I called her to let her know, I still swear that lady beamed herself to my side.  It didn't seem very long at all and she was there.  I'll never forget that.

I have to ask, Doesn't Toby look like a Toby?   I mean even when I took him to the vet, the tech said his name fit him.  I don't know how I came up with that name.  It just popped in my head the moment the guy at the pound asked me what I was going to call him.

I don't look much like my avatar either because, hmm, well maybe because my avatar is from 20 years ago.

As I recall, though, that 29 year old kid was not a very happy person; this 49 year old(50 in two weeks tomorrow) is somehow a lot happier.

Part of me wishes that 29 year old kid could have been armed with the ability to know that he was going to be a relatively happy 50 year old.  (But then who knows how things would have turned out had I been happy at 29, maybe I'd have taken more for granted along the way.)

bk will be upset - that could have been four separate posts, easy.

Until Jed and Ann specifically refute it, I've been acting in my mind like they chose Toby as a name because we'd bandied it about here on HHW and the name somehow appealed to them.  That's my mentally comfortable story and until they specifically say it ain't so, I'll enjoy thinking it.  :)

I guess I could post the latest on the house.

I still haven't been able to have the room built for the washer/drier so I still have to go to the local laundry mat.  I hate that.

The Florida Department of Business and Pro Regs tell me that they are close to having the case come before their board or what ever it's called.  I was also told it looks like a pretty open and shut case.  Turner will lose his license.

On the other hand, it will take six to nine months for the paperwork to catch up with the boards decision so I have to wait to put in for that fund that will pay me back at least part of my money.

I have put a collection agency on his butt to collect the money he owes me from the court case win but it's been over 2 months and I still haven't seen a dime.

In other words--no change and nothing really to report  Sigh.

Just finished watching DR WHO AND THE DALEKS. I remember seeing this film on tv when I was a little kid but oddly enough, none of the film seemed familiar. So perhaps it was really that other 1960s Dr. Who movie that I saw way back when.

Anyway, it came from Netflix, and I think I will keep it a while longer because it has commentary from two of the actresses in it.

I blame Jose.  But I really blame myself.  Just to much stress this last year--I haven't been as careful about what I've ate as I should be.

Putting on weight after something traumatic is very easy to do. When I had my physical trouble last year, I gained a lot of weight. I don't know how much because I didn't get on a scale to check, but it was bad. I ate to forget my troubles, and the things I ate were all the things that I love but which are heavily caloric and fat glutted.

I have been exercising since I got better, but it's slow going, and it never stops. The minute I let my guard down, the weight starts to come right back on.

DR ELMORE - do you need a copy of the program from BRAINEX INDIANA with your Orchestrations by credit?

DR JRand59, I would love to have a program! Thank you for asking.

I've had a really productive day: I got some writing on Victor Herbert accomplished, I spent some time on the initial stages of vegetable beef soup, making a very rich beef-tomato stock by cooking a lot of beef, onion, garlic, bay leaf, chopped cabbage, cauliflower, and tomatoes for around four hours. Tomorrow I will throw in the chopped potatoes, carrots, corn, green beans, lima beans, and peas, and cook the shebang all afternoon. I should end up with enogh soup to freeze a couple of quarts and still have enough to feed me for a couple of weeks. I also pulled things to ship to Ohio and moved sheet music and DVDs around to different shelves and filing drawers.

I'm back to Season Three of BONES; I think my favorite for the season is the Christmas one, with Bones' dad wanted a Christmas in jail, Booth dealing with Parker going to Vermont, and the murder of Kris Kringle. Patricia Belcher as Caroline the prosecuting attorney is one of my favorite characters, and she's in good form this episode.

So, back to BONES.

When RESURRECTION was done, I fished out one of my favorite CLOSER episodes: the two-part season two ender where Brenda must find out who murdered a teenaged boy AND snuff out a mole in the CIA.

Not making light of the truism, MattH - but ironically, one time many years ago, after the mental  agita of being told I'd gained 20 pounds between doctor's visits, I actually went on a binge of sorts in response and gained even more weight.

The doctor really didn't make a big deal of it because all my "blood test numbers" were very good, but I remember thinking what an odd reaction I'd had to finding out I'd gained weight, to go eat even more!

DR JFL, it makes sense to me, you ate your worries about your weight away.

I lost so much weight after my surgery I had to work hard at keeping my weight up & then gaining it back.  Now I can't seem to stop eating.

I did gain a little extra because the therapist kept complaining I was sliding on the table when he stretched my arm behind me.  He said I needed more weight.  I told him yesterday I'm still sliding & I refuse to gain anymore.

We're close enough?

No, you can never be close enough.

(that almost sounded like a line from ANNIE or something like that :) )

No, you're right, with the way Skip cooks, I can never be close enough!  I get hungry just looking at his facebook photos of food

When I went back down, I finished watching this week's episode of THE TUDORS. I've never read that Thomas Culpepper was a rapist and murderer. Amazing what you learn from TV!  :)

My memory of Culpepper is vague from the Alison Weir biographies. The other guy that was accused of adultery with Catherine Howard and executed for it had been carrying on with her from her adolescence. I like the fact that Lady Rochefort finally got killed; I always she deserved it for lying about her husband's incest with his sister Anne Boleyn to make herself a widow.

Elmore, you may get a kick out of a review I'm writing.  It's for a self produced album (and Blu-ray) of a Japanese singer who's attempting to recreate the classic pop singer era of the 1950's.  The entire review is about the genius of the orchestrations.  ;)

I was reading one last summer when I started having my trouble, and I never went back to it though I mean to eventually. Maybe I'll get some more pertinent facts when I do.

Friday night, there was a fund-raiser for Theater Artists Olympia and two songs from The Brain From Planet X were performed...this is the only picture that I've been able to find (so far) that's been posted (the date on the photo is, of course, wrong).  They're singing "The Plan."  From the left is Lauren (who plays Yoni), then Matt (the Brain) and Paul (Zubrick):

They are not in costume. ;)

I love Coffee Crisp and have gotten them in Bellingham when I was going to college, and here in Olympia at a couple of local specialty shops. :D

Welcome back, Danise!!  That's too bad about the theft, but it's nice that you were able to get the ladders replaced for free!  And congrats on the new family member! ;D

Here is a picture of my cousin Malinda and her now husband Jason.  (They have been living together for eight years and have three children, but their wedding today was truly lovely).

Well, I need to get to sleep.  I have to get up in the morning (not too early, though) and go to my sister's house and feed her cats, then come back home and watch some TV...that was supposed to be my evening after rehearsal today, but I visited my friend Margo for a few, then had to feed my sister's boyfriend's cat since he went with my sister and my niece to visit our cousins in Oregon, then I did a few other things and I finally caught up on HHW without watching any TV.  I still have "Fringe," "FlashForward" and "Lost" to watch!
