Good morning, all! I slept poorly all night, and around 5:30 I decided to get out of bed. I want to be at the NYU clinic by 8:30 when they open, so I'll leave here around 7:30-7:45. I should have called them yesterday afternoon to discuss the whole protocol, but a trip to the clinic will also put me close to the McGlinnventory, so if the Clinic wants me to rebook, I'll go over to the office and accomplish something besides feeling sorry for myself. I suspect the clinic's ER will see me, so I'm keeping the morning structure loose.

Depending on how I feel after whatever occurs, I may be E&T today. I will check in, though, when I get back here.

If anyone has been thinking of purchasing an Amazon Kindle, W00t.com   (http://www.woot.com/) has a one day offer on the Kindle 2 for 149.99 (plus $5 s/h).

Of course, there's a Kindle 3 coming out in August, but it's really not going to be that much improved, concept-wise...

And, across the street from me, they're pouring the concrete for my neighbor's new swimming pool.

Good rehearsal last night....I hope the upward trajectory continues.....we open ONE WEEK from tonight.

I usually think MOST theatre games are a waste of rehearsal time, however, last night we did a session of Zoom-Buzz, which I think is the MOST useful of the exercises that I have learned and been FORCED to do.

This has been a longish week despite my having taken Monday off.

Why is that?   Why do my four-day weeks seem so protracted?

And why does today feel like Friday?

And what's this subcutaneous bump on my forearm...and that little hair?

From Ron:
Quote
Some co-workers cannot get past the fact that three officers were needed to take down Grant.   Actually, I believe there were three officers per troublemaker.  One person resisting arrest with all his might can be difficult to handle even when two officers are handling him.

Others contend that with Grant face down, there was no need to stun him...and that the shooting had to be racially motivated.

Mind boggling, stupid, sad.  I think racial needs to be proved.  I watched a video of a policeman pulling his gun and killing a supposedly aggressive dog.  Thing is the dog was lying on the ground in a submissive position.  The policeman didn't even get called out for any wrong doing.

In other news, our home internet has been down for almost 24 hours (I'm at my church office right now).

In better news, I got a very surprising call last night that against all odds I won the OTAS Award for MDing THE PRODUCERS.  This is the first thing I have won theatrically since I took home a Best Actor award in high school regional competition for playing Jerry in ZOO STORY.  As you may imagine, that was well over a year ago, so it's nice to be recognized again.  ;)

When Betsy was Executive Director of Oregon Women Lawyers, we went to a Christmas party at the law firm where her office was sublet from.  They gave gag gifts to everyone, and they gave a great t-shirt to one of the attorneys who was from Idaho.  It was bright chartreuse, and iN bold letters it proclaimed:  IDAHO?  NO, YOU DA HO!

My ER dentist was a wonderful Nigerian doctor, Femi Adenuga, and it was the easiest tooth extraction I have ever experienced in a conscious state. I arrived at the Clonic around 8:20, signed in at 8:30, saw Dr Adenuga by 9. and went through interview and checkup, which was supervised by two kindly dental supervisors, the second of whom wasn't so friendly when I had to come back to show him a lesion on my tongue. He claimed that Dr Adenuga hadn't mentioned it and got rather surly, but I heard him tell his supervisor all of what he was examining. At any rate, I was out of the Clinic by 11 am. I'm home, in great pain now that the anesthetic is wearing off, and I've taken 2 Tylenol Extra Strength tablets and 2 Tylenol PM. I want to spend most of today and tonight asleep.

DR JRand59, I'm glad your package arrived in one piece.

I didn't make an appointment. I just went down to the clinic, but I was certain they would pull it.

I had an abscessed tooth once.  I went to the dentist's office and demanded it be pulled.  I had been on painkillers and antibiotics for a week.  Nothing helped.  I was told it would be easier if the swelling went down to which I replied, "Pull the damned tooth NOW!"  I must have slept 18 hours straight through after getting home....all those pain killers finally taking effect.   :)

Back from morning meeting, which was fine and will result in Kritzerland issuing a CD of a show that won top prize and the Fringe Festival in NY a couple of years ago.

Cool!

BK, is Kritzerland actually doing the recording, or just releasing a CD that the show producers/writers already had?

Thanks, DRs Jane and George.  The good news is only marginally good, because I do have to continue taking the blood thinner - probably forever.  And the bad news, I was expecting.

The pain today is ungodly! Tylenol and Tyloenol PM are doing very little. Thank God I have a bit of the painkillers from last August's bad stretch. I'd like to pass out for a long period but so far it hasn't happened.

Back from picking up tapes, and looks like there's definitely enough music on the tapes to make a CD, so that's good.  I'll know exactly how much when the tapes are transferred, but just looking at the timings, seems like it will be between thirty-five and forty minutes, probably closer to forty.

There is going to be a song and dance show before the fireworks. I think I am the only person who takes earplugs. But I find the sound so loud.

Actually, one can avoid the loud sound by positioning oneself well back from the actual fireworks!  :D

Last night was the 3rd episode of HOT IN CLEAVLAND.  We were extremely disappointed.  IMHO the scripts should be improving each week, not going downhill.  It was fun seeing Carl Reiner.  I hope he will make more guest appearances.

If the scripts keep going downhill, he may not be able to. ::)

DR Laura, the Hydrocodone has kicked in and I feel no pain at all! I'm thinking about tomato soup for dinner, in fact. Later, I'll have some Haagen Daz Vanila Bean ice cream before I shut down the apartment tonight. Tomorrow, I'm sleeping in as late as I want and spending the day in bed pretending I'm ten again and home with a cold. It amazes me that my union did nothing when the Legislature voted to take away our raise that was agreed upon during collective bargaining.  Now suddenly they have decided that the Legislature doesn't have the right to inact an emergency temporary furlough program to try and avoid state layoffs.

I think my union has their priorities screwed up.

What exactly is being recalled?
Twelve-ounce cans of white tuna packed in water, which were sold in February and May in Wisconsin, Nebraska, Utah, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, Colorado, Indiana, California and Oregon.

All the recalled cans have the same UPC code and "best by" date: 4800000262 and 2/10/2014. To double check, look for product codes 7OA1E ASWAB, 7OA2E ASWAB, 7OA3E ASWAB, 7OA4E ASWAB, 7OA5E ASWAB, 7OAEE ASWAB and 7OAFE ASWAB.

I'll tell you what else Promises has done for Kritzerland is gotten people to the site who apparently had no idea we existed - show people, that is, which I find rather astonishing.  But we've had several large orders where they're ordering every show that's still in print and that includes The  Last Starfighter and Stages/Together Again.

Ice cream ?
Exactly. Need to make some this weekend. Peaches are in season. Homemade peach ice cream with maybe a drop of amaretto or almond extract in it.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day at work.  Our first furlough day is scheduled for the CILLA NATIONAL BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY on July 12.  Well, the union has filed a lawsuit against the state, and we should hear something tomorrow.

Thank you for remembering my holiday ;)

Interesting evening.  Had a lot of fun with my nephews, niece and other family members.  I was the DD for my nephew, his girlfriend and their daughter.  Both my nephew and his girlfriend over imbibed...easy to do at my brothers house.  We borrowed DR Samantha's car to get home and my nephew's girlfriend lost her cookies in the back seat.  Yuck!  I pulled over, but she didn't get the door open or lean out the window,  it was in the car.  So while my nephew took care of her and their daughter I was out in the dark at midnight cleaning out the car.  My neph said he would do it, but he had his hands full.  I'm hoping I got it all.  Yuck

Now I must try to sleep.  I'm really glad I didn't have much to drink tonight and watching her reminded me of why I don't like to drink much
