Well, you've read the notes, the notes had bite and were dusty, and now it is time for you to post until the dusty cows come home.

Good morning, all! I was awake at 5:45 am, and once I decided I was too caught up in this morning's trip, I decided to get out of bed, bathe, and start packing. I haven't decided yet if I'll head down to Port Authority and take a bus out to La Guardia or call a car service. That will determine at what time I close down the computer and head out. I will be E&T until Sunday afternoon.

I'm still debating on what to wear this morning to the plane; I've been thinking about wearing my suit because I'm afraid if I pack it, it will be terribly wrinkled by the tme I unpack and I'm really a pathetic person about packing a suitcase. I'm also going through my anxiety rounds on what necessities like shampoo, toothpaste and mouthwash I cannot pack because of all the regulations on liquids. Traveling no longer has the fun and adventure for me that it had twenty years ago. As to tonight's lecture. please send vibes. I'm not aiming to be stunning, simply passable.

I am looking forward to this weekend, seeing my friends in Canton, meeting new people, and seeing DR Ginny and Richard. I'm very flattered they're giving me this weekend. I think it will be fun.

Remember, BK, I am E&T until Sunday; I don't want to get back and find physical threats against me because I'm on the bitchslapping list!

As for the TOD, I have no media to report. I hope you all have a great weekend,

Thanks to all for the BLITHE SPIRIT vibes.  It was okay.....suddenly everyone was talking more softly than they ever did in rehearsal.....not much could be heard during the first act....sent back work to speak up and the rest of the show was better.
Stage manager forgot to put the tea service out during intermission.....so we had to improvise a bit of business for Edith who takes it off to great effect at the end of the scene.....she carried off the waste basket instead....and the "ghost" door opened at the wrong time.....

All things that will be fixed tonight.

MURDER IN THE  BLUE ROOM (1946), one of my all time favorite who-dun-its! It has taken me years of searching to finally find a decent copy of this movie and gosh did I enjoy watching it last night. Now I want to pop in some more of Universal's 1940s murder mysteries!

DVR:
HOT IN CLEVELAND. I am really enjoying this show.
Episodes of LAWMAN which just started airing this month (I will need to burn some to DVD for DR Jane so that she can enjoy her crush Peter Brown!)

CD:
Cast album to the 1949 SOUTH PACIFIC. I  bought it for my grand niece Taylor so that she can familiarize herself with the music before we go see the show in August.

Good morning, all.

Had a wonderful dining experience last night.  It was a joy to meet Addie and talk....and listen.  Addie's a talker, but it was all interesting and the two-plus hours went by like 32 1/2 minutes.

When I got home, I turned on the TV to get "the latest" on the street action and was disgusted to see that violence and looting had again become part of the "Oscar Grant" experience.   Police said that agitators had infiltrated a peaceful assembly and started the rioting.

Oscar Grant's Uncle Cephus proclaimed that it was undercover cops who were agitating the crowd and starting the looting and violence.

Uh-huh.  Those darned undercover cops did it.  Sure.

Helper arrived right on time, she'd done everything she needed to do with the invoices, and had already done some fairly intricate publishing stuff we had to get to a publisher who handles most of the CDs we've done - she's just great.  She also organized stuff.  Then I took my car to the Glendale Infiniti service department - they're also great - what a difference from the awful Van Nuys people.  It turns out the car was originally bought from there, then the owner defaulted immediately, the car was sold at auction to the people I got it from.  Anyway, the whole thing took less than an hour - they fixed the couple of little things I pointed out to them and that was that.

Long day here...haven't even had breakfast yet! I've been running since I took PEter to the airpot at 8 this morning. (Then they cancelled his flight!) But we finished the trailer for the film and the final version should be up shortly. Here's the penultimate version if anyone would like to take a look---we have made some minor fixes since this one. It's always a little weird cutting the trailer for your own film:

Hey everyone.  Sorry to be a bit E/T, it's been a heck of a week since the return from vacation. All Shook Up opened last night and is really great for a "Camp" show.  Meaning a show done at a camp :)   I'm proud of my kids.  I ended up running the sound board for the show as we are using the MT Pit service for the music.  It works really well in a small space.  I'm happy with it.   Next, I'm working on the Prince Street Players version of Pinnochio with 8-12 year-olds (which is CUTE!!!) and Disney's Aladdin Jr. with another group of 8-12 year-olds and that is turning out to be great also.

Also in the process of preparing for Sunset Blvd auditions at the end of August, also hiring that orchestra (reduced to 11, god help me!) and getting good friends of mine to come audition.  In the meantime, there is Annie to program into the keyboard for next week, and somewhere down the line, pull out the accordion to get "in shape" for La Cage,,, in September.

Well, now that you know WAY too much about what's happening over here in the SF Bay Area.  I promise to check in and participate as much as possible as to not go the way of Facebook and other alternate entertainments.

I explained to him that if I wanted to "call into question our limited editions" I could have simply done a second edition (so noted) of the two CD set - but because I didn't want to call into question anything, I purposely kept this to the remixed version - hence, anyone who has the two CD set still has an extreme rarity as they have the only CD with the original LP mix.  Of course, one never receives a response.

What a long involved day, but it's done now.

Very nice, Amy!  It still amazes me to think that there was racism against Jews here in America.

Well, you don't have to look farther than my little town of Marietta, home of the Leo Frank Lynching!  Even since I've lived there I've seen it. A nice old neighbor lady whom I used to call "Tenspeed" met my friend Mark Cohen once and later asked me if he was "Jewish or White". WTH??? I had never heard that distinction before but apparently it was pretty common, in the Deep South anyway. (Where "deep"often doesn't refer to intelligence!)

Oooh....June Preisser.   Does she do any flips in this one?

Indeed she does.

Did you know she died in a car accident? Very sad.

What is it about this poster? Their heads don't look like they belong to their bodies. (Not to mention the disembodied heads below.) And the one on the left is quite risqué.

I spent the day taking care of my car.  It needed an oil change, 24,000 mile check, & the Toyota recalls taken care of.  While they had my car I shopped.  I went to TJ Max and tried on 20 tops before walking out with an ok one.  I then went to See's candy & a nice clothing store next door.  Ginny, they had a section of Vera Bradly bags in the store & I thought of you.  I purchased another top.  I then went to Barnes and Noble and then to Macy's where I tried on more tops.

Are you noticing a theme here?  I need summer tops that are easy to put on and get off and protect my scar so it doesn't burn.  The tops I liked that fit over the scar were too difficult to put on & take off so I had to pass.  The two I got don't completely cover it but are comfortable.  I'll just have to carry a band-aid at all times in case I need to cover the scar.  Once it is completely healed I won't worry about the sun.  My shoulder was very sore from all the on and off with the tops.

Here is a short article taken from today's NY Times about Mel Gibson being dropped by his agency.

July 9, 2010, 6:42 pm
Agency Drops Mel Gibson After Latest Episode
By BROOKS BARNES

Mel Gibson has been dumped by his agency.

A spokesman for William Morris Endeavor late Friday confirmed reports at Deadline.com and the HollywoodReporter.com that the agency told Mr. Gibson to find new representation. Agencies fire
clients routinely in Hollywood, although it is rare for an Oscar winner to receive such treatment.

The move came a week after RadarOnline.com published transcripts of Mr. Gibson threatening violence against his former girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, and using racial slurs. The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department subsequently said it had opened a domestic violence investigation involving the pair.

Mr. Gibson’s longtime William Morris agent, Ed Limato, died on July 3. Mr. Limato moved to William Morris in 2008 from International Creative Management and brought Mr. Gibson with him. It was always an awkward arrangement: Ari Emanuel, the co-chief executive of William Morris, had taken aim at Mr. Gibson in a HuffingtonPost.com article in 2006 following the actor’s drunken driving arrest and anti-Semitic tirade.

“People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or gentile, need to demonstrate that they understand how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him, even
if it means a sacrifice to their bottom line,” Mr. Emanuel wrote.

A spokesman for Mr. Gibson said that “it is way too soon to be discussing agency representation out of
respect to Mel’s 30-plus years relationship with longtime agent Ed Limato.”

While at Barnes and Noble I looked at their version of the Kindle.  I'm thinking about it.  I can try it for 14 days with a complete refund if I'm not happy.

I asked the gentleman demonstrating it to pull up The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and did a check on the word dragon for me.  Sure enough, the dragon is only on Lisbeth's shoulder blade.  The only think in the movie I didn't like is that is covered her entire back. :P

I got a great deal on a carpet steamer last night at Shopko, think I'll go home and clean the carpet.

If it is as warm there, as it is here, you might just dump water on the carpet and let it steam itself!

It was hot today, but not that hot.  I can't believe how well the cleaner works.  It isn't really a steamer, you use hot tap water, but it really works well and is barely wet when you're done.  I did 1/2 the room and after it's completely dry I'll move the furniture to that side and do the rest.  Not sure if this will totally solve my problem, but it's getting up a lot of dirt, so it's definitely worth it.

DR RLP, any thoughts on BIG BROTHER, or have you watched it yet? There are some interesting contestants. I particularly like the Orthodox Jewish Podiatrist, the bisexual gal, and the High School gym coach.

I enjoyed last night's show. I keep forgetting to check hamsterwatch.com. I am not used to reading the spoilers this year.

I like the blonde young girl Britney. Although i hated how pitiful she was at the physical challenge. I liked the bisexual girl annie. But the more i saw of her i started not to like her. I really liked the gay guy (Ragan).I love that he is a college professor but didn't them to know. I love that he just modified his career to grad student. I disliked that andrew out and out lied about his job. I did not like monet (annoying girl who won $10K). Did not like New Jersey Enzo.  But we shall see.

If that's the only thing you didn't like, then you must have really liked the movie

LOL I did.  I still don't think the actress looks exactly right but that is forgivable.  I really hated the tattoo.

Boy, I remember a day when actors fired agents, not the other way around :)

I once hated the idea of salted desserts, but I have since come to love them. One of my favorites is a Spanish-style dessert in which you spread chocolate ganache on a toasted baguette slice that has a little olive oil drizzled on it. The whole slice is topped with a few granules of fleur de sel.

And you have to have salt in your pie crust. Otherwise no flavor.

So bring on the salted caramel ice cream and anything else you got.

TOD: Work is going crazy, so I doubt I will get to much this weekend. "Beautiful Maria of My Soul" is waiting for me at the library, but I have about 75 pages of "God's Secretaries" left to read (a DR Elmore suggestion that has been well worth it).

MP3 player: adding a few new albums to listen to at work, including Madonna's "I'm Breathless" and "Promises, Promises" (CD 2).

Video: Maybe "Romance and Cigarettes" this weekend, if there's time.

I read the following about the Kobe:
"The battery life on the Kobo is excellent – we read for five or six hours over a couple of days, without switching the device off – and didn’t notice any depreciation on the charge. Kobo advertises the device as having a “two-week” battery life, and we don’t doubt this to be true."

Hmmm, I could go through those batteries quickly with a couple of sleepless nights.

Hmmm...well, based on the first episode, they all seem equally pleasant.  I think a couple of them are ready to presume who the Saboteur is based on some silly assumptions...and I think Julie Chen "misled" us into thinking she would reveal last night who the Saboteur is.

My first thought was that it would be the 40-year-old policewoman, but now I'm not sure.

I'll be interested to learn where some of that last group to enter the house ended up sleeping, or with whom.  And some very interesting comments were made by a couple of them as to how far they might go in order to get loyalty from any "gay" house guest!  ;)

I'm looking forward to this season!!!

BOOKS
BEAUTIFUL MARIA OF MY SOUL - Oscar Hijuelos - sequel/prequel to THE MAMBO KINGS SING SONGS OF LOVE
FOOL - Christopher Moore - humorous, bawdy look at Shakespeare's KING LEAR from an unexpected point of view.
EVERY MAN DIES ALONE - Hans Fallada - compelling semi-fictional account of one man's work in the Resistance.

after I'm through with those, I'm delving into some science fiction, all by Dan Simmons:
ILIUM
OLYMPOS
HYPERION

My high school boyfriend was named Dan Simmons, but I'm guessing it's not the same one...

Hmm. . .he grew up in Peoria, Illinois. . .

Here's something that BK will probably like...Will 2011 Tony Awards Play Washington Heights? (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/141032-Will-2011-Tony-Awards-Play-Washington-Heights)

Quote
The Tony Awards, which have been presented at Radio City Music Hall for over a decade, may have found a new home for next year's celebration of the Broadway season.

As previously reported, Radio City Music Hall is booked for June 2011, so a new venue is needed for the Broadway theatre's biggest night.

The New York Post reports that the likely venue for the 2011 Tony Awards will be the United Palace Theatre, which is located at Broadway and 175th Street. CBS, which broadcasts the annual Tony telecast, must still approve the location, according to the New York daily.

No official announcement about the new venue has been made, although Tony Award Productions, a joint venture between the American Theater Wing and the Broadway League, issued a statement to the New York Times back in June: "We have been aware for some time that Radio City Music Hall is not available to us for the 2011 Tony Awards and we are currently exploring a dozen or so possibilities throughout Manhattan for next year's ceremony."

The 2010 Tony Awards were broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall June 13. Sean Hayes hosted.

No, I didn't know that.   I'm guessing you are unaware of her MGM pictures with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland?  These were the "let's put on a show' musicals...and Mickey was always writing/directing and Judy was always the singing star....but there was always money trouble...and there Junie Preisser would be with a father who was rich...and, well...she seemed to get the "lead" billing....and her only talent was doing flips.

It's well worth a grin even now...and any time I see those movies.

Greetings from beautiful downtown Canton, OH!

DRs - Richard and I will both have our laptops with us and will offer DR Elmore the opportunity to check in here.  If nothing else, I can convey messages to him.  We're staying in the same hotel.

I like that you are at the same hotel. :)

We kinda planned it that way, DR Jane.  In fact, DR Elmore greeted us in the lobby as we were checking in and we're even on the same floor.  He went early to the lecture/concert venue and we said we'd grab a bite of dinner and be there at 8.  I'd been smart to print the website info, which included the address so we were confident about finding the place (10001 N. Market St.).  Well, we got to the 10000 block and no concert venue in sight.  The little map I had made me wonder if there was an extra zero in that address and, sure enough, we drove back to 1001 and found it.  The bad news is we missed about half of DR Elmore's lecture; the good news is we heard the second half and the entire concert.  I took some pictures, which I will post tomorrow when I'm not so tired.  The lecture was very well received and we just said goodnight to DR Elmore after he had some supper and we had dessert here at the hotel.

I know that I can get Borders' Kobo, while we have them, for a discounted price.
IF I got one, I'd be getting it primarily for Mum, who could read books on it as if they were large print editions.
Plus our store would get major credit if our employees purchased a Kobo - there's some sort of nonsensical corporate contest involved. . .

My opinion of Brian Lee was once seriously damaged when he threatened "legal" action because someone called him on some statement he made.  He is "ever" the attorney with film composer clients...which in the world of filmmusic fandom might make him an attractive person to cultivate, but his opinions on film music are no better than anyone else's.
