Good morning, all! This is another McGlinnventory day, followed by the NYPL, a stop at my pharmacy, some work on a few email questions here and then a movie, THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, with my friend Val. I always look forwad to spending time with her, so I'll end my day wth gossip and a movie.

I don't think I have anything else to report at the moment. Perhaps later.

Good Morning!   The weatherman said today is muggy to the point of soupy out and he's right.  Went for a walk this morning and am now waiting to here whether the handy men are coming this morning.  I should get the bedroom ready for the cats to be shut in there for the day.

It's 81 here and it's not 8:00 am yet.  The dew point was 75 degrees last night, not sure what it is now but it feels like walking through a steam room.  Kind of felt good actually, but I was glad to get out of it and back in the AC

I'm back at my goal of being in shape before I'm 50.  I was really almost there a year ago, but totally let myself go over the fall and winter, so now I've got one year to get there.  I'm hoping to keep walking in the morning.  Now that the basement is cleaned up, I can easily get to the treadmill if the weather is bad.   I'm going to try to start with an easy mile in the morning to get my day started.  That should help.

Wednesday morning greetings!  I am now officially an aspiring Chautauquan and someone's "protege."  Debra Conner and I had a breakfast meeting that was fruitful for both of us and she gave me a lot of encouragement and good advice.  Now I'm waiting in our hotel lobby for Richard to get back from Loudenville, OH, where he went for a program on the humor of W. C. Fields.  We'll have a little more time in Ashland before Debra's 2pm program, after which we'll head home.

BK, it is always nice to come across a recent film that is just wonderful to see.

That is one thing that I love about Netflix (http://Netflix) (and that link that I posted the other day which shows the newly added DVDs). I have found so many wonderful independent films that I would never have known about...American and otherwise.

In fact two of the most fascinating and entertaining films I have watched recently both came from Iran, of all places.

And if you are looking for Gay themed movies (and I know some of you are...Lesbian ones, too, JMK)...well, wow....there are thousands of 'em at Netflix, and from all over the world.

The Southern Oregon Chautauqua Assembly was organized in Central Point in 1892. The plan was to hold meetings in a grove near that town, but at the encouragement of George F. Billings of Ashland and others -- they pointed out that Ashland had electric lights, city water and a better hotel that did Central Point -- it was decided that Ashland, where there was a small college and a wooded site on a hill above the Plaza, would be a more suitable spot.

I remember that show as a kid. Never quite understood how Kaye Ballard's husband went from being tall with a head of hair and mustache to a short balding glasses wearing person

I would also like to point that I thought Susan St. James got pregnant by Rock Hudson for real on McMlllian and Wife and then lost it when there was no mention of the baby the next season

One of the oddest things I've encountered on the internet over the past 15 years is the discussions that go on in the various forums at Amazon.com...particularly, the "Gold Box" forum.

Are these discussions about Gold Box items?  One or two are.  Right now, there's a blazing hot discussion going on about how many times people use a towel or wash cloth before laundering them.

Some use them only once and must wash them before a new usage.

Others use one for a few days,  or a week, before changing out for a fresh towel.

Lots of snark going on, too.

Reminded me of olden days here!!!   ;)

We are home!

DR Elmore - it took us about 3.5 hours, a little longer than it should have.  We started out thinking we'd take a back road instead of the interstate to avoid Columbus rush hour.  Our patience with that lasted about half an hour...

Did anyone catch the new series COVERT AFFAIRS this week? I was quite surprised to find that I really liked it. Most of this was due to the lead actress, who I had never heard of before.

Last night I watched PAT & MIKE.  This is my favorite Tracy and Hepburn movie.  If only ADAM'S RIB and WOMAN OF THE YEAR were as brisk and breezy (and David Wayne-less.)
Granted, David Wayne could be a bit hard to take in large doses, but I loved the performance he turned in on "St. Elsewhere," as a friend of Auschlander's (Norman Lloyd).

I also loved David Wayne in the Richard Lester comedy FINDERS KEEPERS.

I am back from seeing THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, a wonderful movie with a fantastic cast! DR MBarnum would like the gay porn clips in it and DR JMK would like the lesbians. I liked it all very much.

Oy, what a day of driving!  We were in near-tornado weather this morning in Wisconsin, with skies as dark as evening (absolutely no exaggeration) at 10 o'clock this morning and rain so blinding we were seriously considering just stopping by the side of the road.  We had several more torrential downpours through the day but never again saw that level of darkness.  We're in semi-lovely Fergus Falls, MN, and seem to be past the hard part, plus we're on interstate for the rest of the way home, which should help expedite things.

Did I mention Zach vomited on the ground (actually in a plastic bag Betsy luckily had along) this morning?  And that was before the tornadic activity.

No but I pulled up a review of it and sent it to Keith.  If he is interested I'll record it next week.  We watched White Collar and enjoyed Tim Matheson in front of and behind the camera.  I wonder if he will also be directing the 2nd episode of Covert Affairs.

DR TCB-I read yesterday's discussion and saw that you asked whether I had seen Brent in Phantom.  Yes, I think I saw him 6 times in the 2 years he was in the show.   He was really great, as several people have said!

On my last visit, he was actually nice enough to pose for a picture with me while he was wearing his mask.

I forgot to mention that yesterday I went to google maps and typed in the address of where I lived in Flatbush in 1969 - since you can see an actual picture view of the street I'm happy to say the building is still there.  I also saw my Newkirk subway stop and what used to be the neighborhood candy store - pizza place seems to be gone.  Then I looked at Flatbush Ave. - all the movie theaters are, of course, long gone - but several of those buildings are still there, including the Albermarle, where I worked - they're churches now.

I don't know if you're comparing yourself to Stoltz as Rocky Dennis in "Mask" or Stoltz as he looks normally, but I'd say it's a compliment.  Stoltz is very distinguished...handsome, to boot.

Have watched "Big Brother" and am now ready to avow that my first "can't stand him" houseguest is Enzo.   He is too full of himself, not to mention something else.  This "Brigade" of four is so silly, and Enzo takes himself SO seriously.   I can't see Hayden sticking with him.

The three guys are very scared of Brendon.  And now that they've made an enemy of him, they should be.

Of the women, it's Britney I cannot stand.  She is making absurd character assessments of people and she's the looniest tune of them all.  She's also,  to me at least, the least attractive.  Her assessment of Rachel is so ugly that I fear she's that way through and through.

I had a marvelously marvelous dinner at Genghis Cohen with someone I haven't really seen for twenty-two years - we re-connected Saturday night at the show I saw - it was really fun to catch up and oh the stories that were told were most amusing.  The fact is, I didn't really remember this person until this person started reminding me of how we met - when I was told I attended a birthday party at a house in Monrovia it suddenly came back to me, but I asked about this person's then romantic interest who, to me, looked like an ape, and she didn't seem to know who I was talking about, but tonight she told me that she was indeed dating an ape when we met - in fact, his nickname was bruiser.  Anyway, a delightful person.
