Title: THE TIME-SPACE CONTINUUM
Post by: bk on July 26, 2010, 12:12:43 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both time and space and did continuum, and now it is time for you to post until the time-space cows come home.

Wow, am I an early poster today.  I think I'll try and go back to sleep now.  With luck I'll sleep in tomorrow.  Sherlock can't have breakfast before his surgery so I'll try to cuddle with him all morning.

It was beautiful this morning as I stepped outside to walk to the office.

It's supposed to get hot, though so we return to the heat wave again.

TOD: Most weight gain? After I quit smoking. I don't know often weigh myself, so I don't have actually poundage for that, but it was about four added inches in the waist.

Weight loss: This one I did measure. I went on a raw-food diet, which I loved. I lost 21 pounds in three weeks. I had more energy than I ever had and I slept better than I had in years. Just shedding all those carbohydrates was a real blessing. I also lost five inches around the waist. I was going to keep it up, at least partially, for a while, but our boss decided we needed to do a revamp and updating of all the major restaurants in the city and I found myself eating out more than 10 times a week. All the weight came back on, etc. I keep promising myself I'll go back to raw food at least part of the time, but I haven't.

Last year I weighed 240 lbs.....way too much.....   I have lost 35 of those pounds.....but I want to lose 10 or 15 more before September, so I am back on the exercise machine a few times a week.

Even at 195, I will be B I G - but not as B I G as I was during Arsenic and Old Lace.

The new hoops (hoopnotica) that i am using are much heavier so it is much easier to keep them up. You could basically keep them for however long you want and it won't fall down.

DR Jane, I am surprised that the little girl would put out her hands to you and keith. She must really like you.  My niece only puts out her hands to the 5 people she comes into contact with a lot. She cries when people she doesn't know want to pick her up.

I also enjoyed the MAD MEN episode.

I have AMC HD, maybe you can watch the episodes if you have an ON DEMAND feature....and see it in HD the following day.

It was Thanksgiving - and Betty was supposed to be out of the house in October, so I am guessing we are in 1964, just a year later than when we ended last year.

Television advertising of cigarettes began in January, 1972, so there are a few good years left for the Lucky Strike account.

I haven't weighed myself since I started biking everyday in March.  But I have noticed a difference around my waist after only a week using my hoopnotica hula hoop.  That is the part that needed the most work. So I'm happy. And if I keep using it everyday...

RE: the TOD,  for some reason if I do absolutely no exercise and eat whatever I want I weigh 155lbs (which is a lot for my height). So i guess that is the most i've ever weighed.

I don't know how much i started at, but when i was 21 i lost a bunch of weight (on atkins and suzanne somers).  I kept that off for a while. But then for my sister's wedding I lost 25 lbs cause i wanted to look svelte for the dress. I think i was like 125 then, which my doctor said was a good weight for me (i'm 5'4 but quite big boned).  I think i decreased my carbs a lot to do that (counted them).

Right now I'm exercising everyday. And watching what i eat (not a ton of processed foods or junk food). But if i want a dessert i eat it. I think that is why i'm getting more fit but probably not losing a ton of weight. I think if i started eating less carbs i would go down a lot.

Good morning, all! I've been tied up this morning with emails and inquiries on the Herbert song project. I've yet to tidy the apartment and get some work accomplished on BABES IN TOYLAND Volume 2, and at 2pm I have to be at the NYU Dental Clinic, which means I need tp leave here around 12:30. Crosstown traffic could be horrble on a Monday and God knows how long it will take the crosstown bus to get from Seventh Avenue to First.

To add to my misery, I think I'm going through a round of depression; I was feeling very sorry for myself last night.

To work.

TOD:

I've lost 20-30 pounds several 2-3 times in my life.

When I was single, I used Jenny Craig, and after I got married, I used Weight Watchers.

Now, I seem to be able to keep my weight at a steady point by taking Green Tea capsules every morning, which cuts down on my appetite.  I seldom snack now between meals, which was my major problem.

Unless I said "Hello" to him at one of Ray Courts' autograph shows, I don't know former Tarzan Denny Miller.

However, he is definitely not Dennis Miller of SNL.

For those of you watching, do you get the sense that Matt is playing more for himself than for his "The Brigade" alliance?  The secrecy in which the four wrap themselves preclude them all hanging out in the HOH room for hours at a time.  That'a good thing, I think.

I think I mentioned I bought an iPod Nano one week ago Sunday.  I really enjoyed using it at the Gym last week.

I spent a goodly portion of yesterday reloading it with other music.

And, of course, once I download something onto iTunes, I just have to listen to a few tracks (or ALL of an album).

The iPod is quite wonderful.   Don't know why I put off getting one for so long.

I've only seen the first 2 episodes. The 3rd one was on last night.  I think you should watch them in order. Because they explain things. And then there are some personal relationships that start in the first episode that continue in the second episode.  And I don't think they'd make proper sense if you watched them out of order.

I think it depends on if you like the lead guy (i really like him). He's a policeman, so there are cases to solve.

I should have, but I didn't do the show.  And the director has not spoken to me since.

TOD:

A subject I'm very familiar with.
My weight gain began as a child when I was put on prednisone for allergies/asthma.  When I was 10, I was a puffy little guy:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/hhw/th_n765549269_1463825_6103.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/hhw/?action=view&current=n765549269_1463825_6103.jpg)

By the time I was ready to graduate high school, I clocked in at 325 lbs and a 50" waist:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/hhw/th_n765549269_1463818_2825.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/hhw/?action=view&current=n765549269_1463818_2825.jpg)

(Flowing graduation gowns do tend to hide the flaws somewhat).

Between graduating high school and starting college, I went on The (original) Atkins Diet.  My waist went from 50" to 32":
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/hhw/th_2340_52098579269_765549269_1463817_2229_n.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/hhw/?action=view&current=2340_52098579269_765549269_1463817_2229_n.jpg)

After that, I let nature take its course and stayed between 36" and 38" in the waistline, and now I can wear either a tailored 38" pants, or a more comfortable 40" pants.
This picture, from THE SECRET GARDEN, is one of my favorites; I think it was the last time I wore a size 36". . .

Is anyone watching SyFy's "Haven" based on Stephen King's "The Colorado Kid"?  I'm really enjoying the series.

I didn't even know about this.  It's available to watch on-line (http://www.syfy.com/rewind/?sid=1236507), so I'll check it out.

Has anybody here seen this new show on A&E called THE GLADES. I think it premiered 2 weeks ago and they replay it throughout the week (it's on on sundays). I didn't think I would like it. But there was a big write-up about it in our tv guide. And I actually really like it!

We haven't seen it.  I set up four episodes to record.  They are basically out of order with the Pilot on Aug. 8th.  Should I wait and watch them in order?

I've only seen the first 2 episodes. The 3rd one was on last night.  I think you should watch them in order. Because they explain things. And then there are some personal relationships that start in the first episode that continue in the second episode.  And I don't think they'd make proper sense if you watched them out of order.

I think it depends on if you like the lead guy (i really like him). He's a policeman, so there are cases to solve.

Thanks, we will do that.

1      1-01                09/Jul/10   Welcome to Haven
2      1-02                16/Jul/10   Butterfly
3      1-03                23/Jul/10   Harmony
4      1-04                30/Jul/10   Consumed
5      1-05                06/Aug/10   Ball and Chain
6      1-06                13/Aug/10   Fur
7      1-07                20/Aug/10   Sketchy
8      1-08                27/Aug/10   Ain't No Sunshine

****

I will go on the record as saying that I don't think you will like this show DR Jane.  But watch it, cause maybe i'm wrong. But I think it will be too science fictiony for you.  I think it's too science fictiony for me, although i will probably watch episode 2.

We watch a lot of science fiction. Currently we watching two summer shows, Eureka & Warehouse.  The previews for Haven didn't grab us (I was more interested than Keith)  and then we watched "previously on...." and became interested enough to record the show.

Thank you for the full list of episodes.

Thank you DRs Jennifer, td, George and to DD Miss Dixie Bell.

Sherlock is kind of relaxing even if he hasn't stopped panting since returning home.  Once in awhile he whimpers.  He hasn't touched his tail which means he doesn't need to wear a cone on his neck.

He is wearing a bandage which will need to be removed on Wednesday for the doctor to look at it.  There will be a repeat trip to the vet on Friday.  It seems removing a growth on a tail is rather difficult and there are more risks for problems.  This was a deep growth too.  As floppy as Sherlock's skin is everywhere else it is tight on the tail which makes it difficult to work on.   We have been informed without the bandage it will not be a pretty sight until his fur grows back.

Then Barry Pearl came over and we went to Mo's - this idea for our autograph show, the first annual film and stage musicals con is really looking interesting.  We came up with about fifty celebs that we feel we could absolutely get there, and there are some pretty big names.  We'd have certain film casts all together, like Grease and Nudie Musical and stuff, and we'd try for some of the High School Musical kids to bring in some younger folks.  We won't charge twenty bucks at the door, and dealer tables will be half the price that they are for the other show.

Plus we'll offer every CLO and musical theater group a table (reasonably priced) to hawk their season subscriptions, and we'd have entertainment - either throughout the day, or directly following our five o'clock close.  Next up is finding out the venue cost.

Poor Sherlock whimpers occasionally and doesn't understand why his dinner was so small.  Keith will finish feeding him in a little bit after we know he has kept down the first bit of food.  We came home with an antibiotic and two different pain meds for him.

From not on we are checking his tail for little bumps.  If he gets a growth there again we want it off ASAP while it is tiny & fairly easy to remove.

I really like the idea. For example you can have a L'il Abner table. You can include Charlotte Rae, Billie Hayes (Both played Mama Yokum on Broadway) Tina Louise, Julie Newmar, Peter Palmer Carmen Alvarez, Tony Mordente (some cross over from the tv crowd) and from the movie version Stella Stevens, Valerie Harper, Beth Howland and your beloved Julie Parrish

I lost another 35 lbs between December 2008 and March 2009 -

I had a feeding tube inserted and only  ingested liquid sustanance -- effective but i di not recommend it

We had a minor household scare when I was cleaning up after dinner - no running water.  Looked across the street and there was a fire hydrant gushing.  A city crew was there trying to address a neighbor's complaint of brown water.  Our water is now back on, but not fit to drink (thank goodness we have plenty of bottled water in the house).  We'll have to re-run the dishwasher and run the washing machine without clothes a couple of times before doing actual laundry.  At least we can flush...

Of course, that sort of things always happens when we have houseguests!

Thanks, DR Vixmom!  At least we discovered it.  I suspect there are some households in the neighborhood that had already retired for the night - they're in for quite a shock when they get up in the morning!

Thinking A]
The Shubert Alley thing is very different, confusing, and not friendly.  We'd take a big room at a nice hotel - the idea is to do it here, and then travel it.

I doubt Charlotte Rae wants anything to do with LI'L ABNER or Billie Hayes.

Do tell. What would be the reason behind that?  Because Hayes got the movie and not her?

Back from a brisk two and a half mile jog - glad I did it.  I had poached eggs on toast for breakfast, and for dinner I had a turkey, bacon, and guacamole sandwich, and a grilled artichoke.  So, I don't think I overate, calorie or fat gram-wise - the only really bad fat grams were the avocado and that was healthy, at least.
