And the word of the day is: YOB!
It was realy nice here yesterday. I spent the day at the park. It was Family Fun Day, where they had all kinds of activities for kids including 6 or 7 bouncy inflatables.
But we had 3 small incidents. My sister's best friend was there with her 2 kids (2 and 4). I was standing with megan (my niece) and the 4 year old and the mom. She took the 2 year old out of her carriage. And then we were all standing there. But the little one was all of a sudden gone. She took off and we hadn't seen it (which was weird because we were standing right there).
The mom found her 30 seconds later. She had run to the end of the bouncy we were waiting in line for. But it was scary, especially since there were hundreds/thousands of people there.
From Vixmom:
OR
maybe the janitorial staff has broken/thrown out her personal items and she thinks YOU took them!
I am still surprised that Miss Allison Hayes did not make an appearance on BURKE'S LAW.....since she was a semi-regular on BAT MASTERSON and starred with Mr Barry in a movie.
TOD
Surfside 6
Highway Patrol (not a great show, but I love seeing who the guest stars are)
Castle
Adam-12
Dragnet
Southland
Things seem totally normal at the office today. I'm not going to say anything right now.
I don't know how long ago she tool the items home, so I'm not going to stir things up right now. I'm beginning to think she took the stuff home on the day I really was upset and just hasn't brought them back. I'm also wondering if she didn't look into working for the guy at the other end of the hallway when his secretary retired. She was really shaking her head and grinning today when potential clients came to our office after meeting with him and were very unhappy with him. We get a lot of that from his clients and potential clients. She knew exactly who applied there and saw who he hired. Last week she told me about another firm she "would have" worked for if she hadn't started working for me.
Anyway, things are good today so I'm going to just let it go for now
And the word of the day is: YOB!
Thanks, Dan. I took it at the sewage ponds.
It is amazing how they can run off in the blink of an eye. I'm glad you found her so quickly.
DR Laura, you really should your photos to a magazine - for money not for free. Audobon or National Geographic or something. You photos are better than some I've seen published.
And I worked out the big trade deal and I'll tell you what I am now the proud owner of, although I won't have it until Friday - but it's an amazing thing and something I've wanted for over thirty years and never ever thought I would own.
And another millstone/milestone/plateau has been reached!

Imagine changing those diapers
Well, Richard survived his dental procedure and my mother survived her eye check-up. The really frightening thing the eye guy told Mom is that she could get a driver's license with the results of today's vision test. Not that she wants to, but it goes a long way toward explaining some of the crazy driving behavior you see on the roadways :o
Just because you can see doesn't mean you can react. They should have a reaction time test in addition to a vision test
And another millstone/milestone/plateau has been reached!Congrats. But it's time for more postings. Especially of photos.

File this under "I didn't know that he was still alive," but Conductor Mitch Miller dies at age 99 (http://www.comcast.net/articles/music/20100802/US.Obit.Miller/).Thanks for the post. I thought he was still around, but I didn't know he was that old.
Wow...99 years old.
Wouldn't be big enough mess to need diapers!
I posted kitten photos a couple days ago, John.It will take a while to catch up.
I'm back from the class reunion and, well, it was as you might suspect: I talked with the three or four folks that I talked with in high school, said hi to a few more and ignored the rest of the folks that either tormented me or didn't speak to me back then.
Good morning, all! Thank you all for the vibes. The depression continues. I need a good cry, but that's not happening.
As those who've read Kritzer Time know, the second show I saw as a young teen at the Huntington Hartford Theater was the national tour of A Thurber Carnival
What are those, DerBrucer? Lemurs?
Thanks, Dan. I took it at the sewage ponds.
DR Laura, if you were dancing in the ballet CAKEWALK, you'd be the Queen of the Swamp Lilies! Great photos.
I have been to Alex Rybeck's and I have all the music I need. I guess I have no choice but to get to work.
As those who've read Kritzer Time know, the second show I saw as a young teen at the Huntington Hartford Theater was the national tour of A Thurber Carnival - starring Imogene Coca, King Donavan, and Arthur Treacher. That show and its humor had a profound effect on my life, all of which I detail in the book.
Ever since I began collecting things, I've had several first editions of Thurber's work and always marveled, especially, at his New Yorker cartoons, which are simply brilliant. I finally got a signed Thurber first edition, Thurber Country, which is not only signed but also includes a small sketch of a Thurber dog - this was toward the end when he was practically blind.
Last week, I was offered an original Thurber drawing by a book dealer I know back east. I was ecstatic, but there was no way I could ever afford it. Until we began talking about doing a trade. It took a week to work it out - and today we finalized the deal and the original Thurber drawing will be on its way to me tomorrow and delivered on Wednesday. Not only that - this particular Thurber drawing is not a doodle or unpublished - this is a 1938 cartoon published in the New Yorker - not only that, it's always been one of my all-time favorites of his and is a perfect specimen of the kind of thing he did so brilliantly for the New Yorker. Not only that, its provenance is fun, too - this came from the estate of writer Peter DeVries. To say I am over the moon would be a huge understatement.

and Congrats to everyone who did something astounding!

And on a lighter note (C-natural), Romantic Comedy (http://www.kritzerland.com/romantic.htm) has arrived! ;D

(There, did that help?)

The news doesn't reduce me to tears, but i'm checking Google for painless methods of suicide.
Actually, DR TCB, I think a short visit from you and Mikey would be a lovely diversion from my melancholia.
Ok, so I said that I was going to get some pop-up post it notes for her special dispenser but didn't see it on her desk, so I didn't get them.
Thanks, Cillaliz.
Great blue herons are everywhere in the US, I believe.

Robert was never, lost; we were.

DR Cillaliz - that's exactly the conversation Mom and I had on the way back to her place. And you have to be able to hear...
Let me emphasize, my mother has no interest in getting a license, we were just talking about the absurdity of the concept.

We have them because of the lake near by. Yesterday we saw a juvenile Osprey in a nest. It was too far away to take a photo. Wonderful photos Laura!
I'm very excited that my nephews David and Andy and my grand niece Sophie will be visiting on Sunday. They are going to the lake and I didn't want a repeat of last month, especially since I'm still on the mend and have a trial and a trip to get ready for, so I was thrilled to hear they want to stop on the way home to have breakfast/brunch on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to it
Thank you. I shouldn't have been surprised. And, in a way, I wasn't. I think once the kids have all left home and/or graduated from college, they might become different people. And I might become one, too. I did enjoy talking with one or two whom I didn't know and were quite interesting. And the spouses were awfully pleasant. I think they were probably just happy to see their old friends as I was in seeing mine, and the lines merely didn't interconnect too often.I'm back from the class reunion and, well, it was as you might suspect: I talked with the three or four folks that I talked with in high school, said hi to a few more and ignored the rest of the folks that either tormented me or didn't speak to me back then.
Actually I expected the opposite which has been my experience at all but the ten year reunion. My class has become extremely friendly. I'm sorry it was not the same with your reunion.
This morning I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:

Hmmm _ I cannot seem to get the quote feature to work = Der Brucer that is a Rose of Sharon bush , which happens to be the National Flower of Korea - during the Japanese occupation of Korea, before WWII the Japanese cut downand burned all the Rose of Sharon bushes they could find - it was illegal for a Korean family to have one growing on theor property\

The bit about Ingrid Bergman is touching & sad.
The last time I purchased flatware, I must have bought myself settings for six, or something stupid like that. Over the years I have lost a spoon here and a fork there. So, I finally ordered myself a new set. Well, this time I must have ordered settings for twenty (at least)! I hope my beneficiaries like the pattern, because there is a whole slug of it.

So, is a Rose of Sharon a type of hibiscus or another name for hibiscus? Just yesterday, my sister called the plant in my parents' yard a Rose of Sharon and I had never heard that. I always heard hibiscus. Maybe it's because I used to live in Florida.
I miss MattH

I misread this - I thought you said that the pattern on your new flatware was a slug....
ewwww!
I miss all the nice folks who have left.
Thank you Vixmom. How are you feeling?
Thanks Vixmom. We were talking today about scheduling for the rest of the month and she brought up that she'll be coming to the jury trial and won't be in the office to do things, so I'm pretty confident all is well
Der Brucer that is a Rose of Sharon bush ,
The DVDs of Seasons 1-3 of MAD MEN arrived to today.
I'd never watched the show, so I figured it was about time.
I watched the first three episodes this evening.
It is certainly well done, but the story is moving along a bit too slowly for my taste, Hopefully, it will pick up soon.
My other problem with the show thus far is that none of the characters are really likable. The actors are fine, but there is nobody in the show (at this point) that I really care about.
I ended up doing another half-mile jog over to Jerry's Deli - had a small turkey sandwich, and then did a brisk walk home. Very nice all the way around.
