Good morning, all! This morning, i have a date with Joshie at City Center at 10 am. He will help me make adjustments and changes to two  Finale files I have. After that, I may stop at the new music  shop of 57th Street for a browse before heading back uptown. I have a ticket to see a Fringe Festival show at 3:45, so then i'm off to the Village to see TERROR SUPERHIGHWAY, since a friend from Barnes & Noble, Tyler Moss, is appearng in it. I hope it's tolerable. You never know with Fringe.

Hopefully, that's my day. I have to get some work in on Mr Victor Herbert, so I'll spend my time between City Center and the Fringe on that.

DR Cillaliz re: your trial comments.

So the 5 people who testified against your client were all drug dealers and yet the jury believed them?

I guess you can only do as much as you can.  I think to me success would depend partly on if I thought the client was guilty.  If I knew he was guilty and then did my best and he was found guilty ... then you did your best. If he was innocent then it would be harder.

Hey everybody - it's Friday.  Today we will feature laundry, cart building, grocery shopping, and decorating for my pal Sabrina's 40th birthday party at our place tomorrow.  It will be a fiesta, so I'm going to go try and find a pinata for the festivities.

However, all you people out there in the dark, tomorrow is THE DAY.  Auditions for Sunset Blvd, never thought this would ever happen - meaning - I'd be involved with a production of Sunset Blvd, let alone be music director.  I am beyond excited, I don't think I'll sleep at all tonight.  I know I know, you're tired of hearing about it... but really, what other group of people can understand my excitement?

Last night I sold Dog Bosco's dog house, which was kind of sad for me. But the guy ( a friend's nephew) who bought it brought over his new dog...a gorgeous, 4 month old female boxer with the most beautiful colorings I have ever seen.

She and Cat Freddy played quite a lot in the back yard while they were here. Well, mostly the dog played; running around Freddy and trying to get Freddy to play fetch. Freddy mostly sat on the lawn and watched her and occasionally let the dog know who was boss.

It was so much fun to watch this young dog, who was quite energetic, but very well behaved. I just fell in love with her. I think Fred did also, as he followed the dog all the way back to the pickup when they were leaving.

Only problem is Bruce's aside " And I have to say, this show is generally thought of as not successful (it had a good run and I think it made money)." Henry Sweet Henry ran for all of two months. Could a show with that size cast possibly come close to breaking even in that short a time-span?

It all depends where the groupings are.  Thank fully it's either 2-3. or 3-2   - doing it in 1 might be an option, depending on my players!!!   The opening is broken up into 4-3-4-2  most of the time.  Certainly keeps you on your toes.

And on top of that, Mr. MRSA has returned.

Feel better, TCB!

To add to my frustration, I can neither find my ticket for the performance nor locate the notification from the broker that I bought a ticke. All I have is my bank statement with the deduction on 8/17. I guess I will wander down to the theatre and see what happens. After the health insurance news, I'm ready to kill, so this could be interesting.

So anyway - it seems that Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick wrote the Never Too Late Cha Cha for said show when it was on Broadway.....but other than the information that it was written....I don't know if it was ever recorded....

MAYBE by the Bryan Smith Dance Orchestra - a Brit outfit.

Does any HHW'er know anything else about thsi ditty?

Day 2 of cardiac rehab went well.  Having an audiobook made the time fly and the routine was familiar.  One of the attending nurses was our next-door neighbor, to whom we haven't spoken since Richard visited the city prosecutor about the barking dogs she used to leave out all night.  He discovered that she had a thick file of complaints from us and the neighbors on the other side and behind.  Those dogs eventually died (yes, of natural causes) and the ones she has now don't stay out all night.  She didn't try to kill me on the treadmill and it was all quite civil.

Who doesn't? Carol Channing, Mel Brooks, Sheldon Harnick, Rosie Grier, and Harry Belafonte - what an embarrassment of talent...

Pianist won't even be here when he originally said, which was 2:30 - now it's three.  Which means I don't eat till 3:15.  I've been pricing out authoring and replicating blu-ray - not as cheap as DVD but not completely horrendous.  If we end up doing this blu-ray thing, we'll also include a DVD in the package, since the cost of doing so is almost negligible.

My friend Tyler is quite a good young actor, but I thought the play was kind of a mess. It's all about a "terrorist" agency interrogating a rather sad nebbish who's sent money to "Sophia," a lady he's met online through a dating service. She claims to be stuck in Kenya after being robbed in her hotel, but it turns out "Sophia" is a front for terrorist funding and my friend Tyler has been dragged into the agency for terrorist activity. The play had good actors and good direction and a script that couldn't decide if it were Kafka, an indictment of the Patriot Act and its often ridiculous and insulting crimes against humanity, or what. I found its conclusion very frustrating, and thought when the lights went down that we were ready for scene three!

DR Jennifer, the government always argues that who but drug dealers will know drug dealers. A couple were totally unbelievable, but a number were pretty credible.  When you have 5 saying they were in a conspiracy with someone, it gets harder to say they are all lying

I knew I had a hearing at 3:00 so I was winding up some things about 2:30 when I get a call from the court asking why I'm not there for the 2:30 hearing.  I said I thought it was at 3:00 and literally ran to the courthouse.  I got there only to discover that I was not the lawyer on the 2:30 hearing after all.  What a crazy week.

Awww ad hugs.

BK, has this ever been on DVD before or is it the first ever release, at all?

First release.
I was going to guess "Sugar" but not now. That's on CD.

The DVD/Blu-Ray talk is about something wholly other than our CD release.

Speaking of The Brain From Planet X I submitted it for next year's season at the theatre I work at in Palo Alto.  The theme next year is "Gods and Monsters", so we'll see what the Exe says.  We won't know until April 2011, of course.

That's great!  Vibes it is chosen!

Speaking of "The Brain from Planet X," they're having auditions in New Jersey for it at the moment.

I really wish R&H would keep me apprised of these productions - this one sounds a little odd to me - when they can't even spell my name right, or the names of the two leading characters.

I need a great, amazing young gal singer.  Kind of like Juliana A. Hansen (she's not in town), preferably between 18 and 25.  They need to not only be a great singer but also should be able to act a lyric.  This is for the Unsung Musicals show in October.  If anyone has any thoughts about anyone (LA preferable) let me know.

Keith found three photos of my father on Ancestry.com.  This one of him on the USC tennis team is my favorite.  He is in the middle of the top row.  I wish the photo were easier to see.

Just got the accordion/key 2 book for La Cage and it's the messiest thing I have seen since the parts for Peter Pan  This is going to take some dissection before the read through next Monday eve.  Not to mention dusting off the accordion and trying to remember how to play it.

Excellent vibes and xylophones to td.  And to my darling Michelle Nicastro, who is, sad to say, very ill.  No one deserves to have to go through what she's been through, especially when she is one of the most genuine, dear, sweet caring people ever put on this planet - I know few people who are more human and warm than Michelle and my heart aches for her.

Vibes to Michelle Nicastro.

bk, I can remember the first time I ever ran into you on the internet, in the #Broadway chatroom on IRC.  I mentioned that I had been trying to get the 3 Michelle Nicastro CD's and none of the stores in the area were carrying them.  You gave me the number for Varese and told me to call them and mention your name and have them send them to me.  When I called Varese, no questions were asked and the CD's were sent.  I still listen to those CD's as they are some of my favorite Disney "covers" I've heard.

The late Richard Valley's (Scarlet Street) mother is selling his stuff on eBay.  I found out because she's selling his signed copy of Benjamin Kritzer, signed from me to him - as well as several other books by some notable film people all signed to him and partner Tom Amorosi - you'd think she'd give them to Tom, but no - she'd rather get the four bucks they're selling for.

DR Ginny - RE: Your iTunes problem

Sometimes some albums can "separate" due to how the track and album information was entered. Cast albums seem to have this problem a lot since each track can have a different artist(s), but then there is no "Album Artist" information entered - like "Original Cast", "Various Artists", etc. So...

The next time that happens - if it does - the easiest(?) way to fix it is to click on the "Album" header in iTunes until "Album by Year" comes up.  That will hopefully bring all the Album's tracks "together".  Then multi-select all of those tracks, then click Apple-I to bring up the Album Info box.  Most likely, there will be no information in the "Album Artist" field, so, just enter an "Album Artist" (Various Artists, Original Broadway Cast, etc.). That should fix it.
