Well, you've read the notes, the notes had three A's, and now it is time for you to post until the three C's cows come home.

Good morning, all! I was dreaming about an HHW gathering in Atlanta and DR edisdaurus as the alarm went off this morning. The only other part of the dream I remember is listening with BK to huge 78rpm recordings on an old player turntable and talking about radio comedians.

So, today I'm in the studio with two singers and, as you know from yesterday's posts, there was some concern over one of them. I 'm hoping all goes well since I'm quite fond of both singers and want everything to be solid and supportive for them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Successful Vibes for the Gardenia show tonight! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for the notes on the recording of "Unsung Musicals," bk. The first volume may be my favorite of all your albums, and it nice to hear some behind-the-scenes stories. Though there may have been problems, to my ears, the whole albums is practically perfect.
Good morning, one and all!
bk: It was, indeed, Michelle Nicastro who did "Disneyland" on her "On My Own" album. I have a tremendous soft spot in my heart for Ms. Nicastro, as her "Toonful," an impulse purchase, was my first Varese Sarabande album.
Happy birthday, JMK!
Breaking legs vibes for MR BK & Company.
"New Words" & "Disneyland" are two of my favorite songs on that CD.
"New Words" is beautiful and lends itself perfectly to being performed in "sign language" - it always gets a great response when I do it.....ALWAYS, as does...."Disneyland."
Last night I filled FOUR trash bags full of shirts and pants to give to AMVETS today......if I hadn't worn it in a year, it went into the bag.
I could fill at least four more......but a bit at a time.......  I can't give it to my local Goodwill or I would go in there next week and buy it back.
I agree DR JMK....and that photo of Frances always reminds me of this 1967 photo of Carroll at a divorce hearing....she was sued for custody of their two children by her husband Jack Garfein - who also wanted 40% of ALL her future earnings because he made her a star......
Carroll got the kids AND her future earnings (although Garfein got 40% of her Paramount Contract, which was worthless - until a Paramount attorney got greedy.......)
Carroll sued Paramount for payment on the contract for three additional pictures, even though the studio had dropped her.....they claimed the contract hadn't been completely negotiated.....Carroll lost.....then Paramount turned around and sued HER saying she didn't live up to the terms of the contract.....the judge said to Paramount - "You can't have it both ways.....if you are using the contract as the basis of a suit....I have to throw out my previous judgment.....I find for Carroll Baker Garfein....."  Bingo......almost one million dollars for Carroll.....less Garfein's 40%.....although she was unemployable in Hollywood for almost 10 years.
DR JMK, according to our DS Craig...
"As for the Lisanatti, though it is marketed as "non-dairy" it is able to melt and more closely resemble cheese because it contains casein, which is a binding agent that is extracted from milk. So, really, it isn't at all vegan."
Last night I watched THE FIEND WITHOUT A FACE and CYCLOPS.
Both movies were okay.....the fiend not only didn't have a face....it didn't have a body....it was a crawling brain with the spinal cord attached.....well several of them....and I never did understand exactly was they were.....when the scientists were talking about the origin of the creatures, they all started talking very fast.....  Best part about it was seeing Terry Kilburn all grown up and looking very good as a US Army Captain.
CYCLOPS was a B I G movie starring Miss Gloria Talbott.....makeup for the titular creature was almost identical to that used later in WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST....and the guy was even played by the same actor.
Went and got some bacon and eggs, since all I'll be eating tonight is a small salad and melon and prosciutto.  While I was eating, it began to pour, and I do mean pour.  Luckily, by the time I finished it was down to a light drizzle.  It's gone now and, as is usual for LA, the sun is trying its best to peek out.
I am back from the last recording session for this round. We begin again on Oct 19. It all went much better than expected, and our tenor, who had me worried and fraught yesterday, nailed everything in the original tenor keys. I couldn't be more pleased for him and for us. Our producer was so happy that she paid him for both the baritone and tenor recordings of "Molly."
Daniel Marcus came back and recorded his final tracks so we had a lot of laughs in the morning and a lot of patriotic or weepy songs for the afternoon.
Tonight, I'm chilling out and going to bed early. Tomorrow I have the McGlinnventory all morning and a trip to the NYU Dental Clinic at 2 pm.
My day started with computer problems. Yesterday, while I was online at another site, something did a variation of "poof!" and the site disappeared, along with Safari. I fiddled around and somehow brought Safari back. I didn't know what I was doing--I just lucked out. I shut down the computer last night as usual. This morning when I booted up, no Safari. I called Apple Care and learned what to do, so now all is well--I think. I should take some time to learn more about Macs. I bought my MacBook to get me through my move and my gypsy period (until I get settled), but there has been so much to do that I really haven't had time to just play with it. I think my MacBook is telling me we need to get better acquainted.
That reminds me of the mini-controversy concerning some of Pirate's Booty (http://www.piratesbooty.com/) products.  Whole Foods has been listing two of the products as "vegan". However, one of them contains honey, which makes the vegan designation null and void.  -Honey? Who knew?
Back from a fun sound check and I think I'm going to try and do a quick jog right now.  Naturally, I've already had two messages from people who were confirmed at the Gardenia saying they wouldn't be making it.  Par for this particular course, so hoping we have a decent crowd tonight.
The first no-hitter in post-season play since 1956.
I believe my mother missed that 1956 no-hitter due to an incoming "delivery."  ;)
I've never watched Man v Food before.  It's pretty funny in a sick overstuffed way.  The new one is an obscenely big sandwich in Des Moines.  5 pounds of stuff on it
The finale from "One of These Days" (1910)  As perfomed in All That Jazz. Since I've never heard any other recording of this song this is all that I have to go by
My day started with computer problems. Yesterday, while I was online at another site, something did a variation of "poof!" and the site disappeared, along with Safari. I fiddled around and somehow brought Safari back. I didn't know what I was doing--I just lucked out. I shut down the computer last night as usual. This morning when I booted up, no Safari. I called Apple Care and learned what to do, so now all is well--I think. I should take some time to learn more about Macs. I bought my MacBook to get me through my move and my gypsy period (until I get settled), but there has been so much to do that I really haven't had time to just play with it. I think my MacBook is telling me we need to get better acquainted.
Night, all. It's been a long day, with the opening of the Latin Flavors, America's Kitchens symposium at the Culinary Institute of America here. Rick Bayless gave a great cooking demonstration as did some chefs from Mexico. Tomorrow, the Brazilians, who stole the show last year, start cooking. I'll be standing in line eagerly for anything they dish up.
One Brazilian chef is doing several styles of steaks as well as Stuffed Pork Ribs with Crunchy Manioc and Brazilian Raw Sugar Honey Sauce. Bring it on!
It's really a fun event.  There are all sorts of shopping etc. Mercy medical center has all sorts of health screenings and the rest is beauty stuff.  There is wine and good food.   I bought a ticket by myself this year.  The seats are assigned so I'm hoping I end up at an interesting table.  It's right near the speaker, so that should be fun.  There were 1500 women there tonight and tomorrow there will be 1600 women.  It's really a cool event
George - Are the later hours related to the promotion?  (I may have missed some discussion on this.)
Fortunately, no.  I stayed late just because I stayed late.
Before I decided to apply for the new job, I tended to be very flexible with my schedule (meaning, I would get to work late in the morning but not at a consistent time)...and my supervisor didn't mind.  Now that I'm going to be the supervisor, I need to be less flexible with my schedule, and I've been getting to work earlier than I had been before.  The hard part has been getting used to going to bed earlier.
Back from a nice Gardenia evening.  The audience seemed to enjoy it - as always there were about twelve no-shows so we ended up with about forty people, which, at the Gardenia is every table filled and some people at the bar - for the first show we had about ten more audience members.  The show itself went smoothly, but the light and sound person (not the usual guy) was not good and the sound was, for me anyway, poor, and the lighting was such that there was no light on the music stand, where some people needed their lyric sheet.  But that's not going to matter for the next show because from now on there's no more crutches - everyone has to learn their songs, period.  Unless there's a really complicated list song, which is the only time we'll allow it.  The between song patter was fun.  Jason Graae was there, as was dear reader Sam, Adryan Russ, Doug Haverty, Shelley Markham, Gary Stockdale and lots of other nice folks.  Happily, Jason said he's around in December to do our Christmas show (on the first Wednesday) so I'm really happy about that.  Now, onto the November show.
